Character
Name: Apple Bloom
Series: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
Timeline: After season 3 episode "Too Many Pinkie Pies".
Canon Resource Links: http://mlp.wikia.com/wiki/Apple_Bloom

Personality: If there's just one word that can describe Apple Bloom it would be impatient. Impatient to explain herself, impatient to get her cutiemark, and even too impatient to relaize what she really is good at. So much so she tries to get people to help her when she doesn't have her cutiemark. Despite these neagtive qualities, Apple Bloom does have some good points. She is very close to her sister Applejack even though they frequently fight with each other. So much so that when her friend Sweetie Bell gets into an arguement with her sister Rarity, she allows Sweetie Bell to borrow her but just for the day.

When Apple Bloom, Sweetie Bell, and their friend Scootaloo decided to create a group dedicated to 'blank flanks' finding their cutiemarks called the Cutie Mark Crusaders. They do sometimes have difficulties with each other agreeing on the proper action to take. (Though with Apple Bloom usually agreeing with whatever dangerous idea that Scootaloo comes up with, this doesn't happen too often. Sweetie Bell is more or less there as a netural voice, though it seems she prefers safer ideas to the dangerous ones.) Scootaloo and Apple Bloom at times fight with each other more than than not. Kid stuff like how to call a chicken and what one of the statues in a courtyard should be called.

Apple Bloom appears to be the one more than the others to panic once things start going downhill. Case in point: when it was discovered that the Crusaders fed their teacher a Love Poison instead of a Love Potion she starts panicking, thinking up of all sorts of terrible things akin to the end of the world (or at least Ponyville) before her friends stop her and help cure the Love Poison. In short, Apple Bloom is a little forceful and impatient but in her heart is in the right place. She's a kind hearted filly who has yet to learn patience and understanding.
Strengths/Weaknesses:

Apple Bloom is foremost a confidant pony, if a little pushy at least at first glance. She's assertive with both her friends and her family, and always willing to tackle any problem or challenge. In Route's case she would replace the goal of getting her cutiemark with being the best trainer ever. While not as strong as her siblings Applejack and Big Mcintosh, she is physically strong for her age, on one instance helping round up a group of Pinkie Pie clones running amuck using rope. She is very close to her whole family including her sister.

On the other hand... She has an impatient side to her when she wants something, usually on discovering her Cutie Mark. On one occasion she lied after contracting something called the cutie pox which had multiple cutie marks appearing on her, during which she couldn't control herself. She later apologized to her friends for the way she acted. Another trait of Apple Bloom's is her single minded way in trying to figure out her cutie mark. She has a talent in carpentry and building, so much so that she rebuilt Applejack's rundown treehouse into something amazing.

[The feed of the Pokegear shows an unfamilair girl dressed in yellow and a large pink bow on the back of her red hair.]

... hello. Hopefully this is working and people can see me. Howdy, I'm Apple Bloom. I've been reading up on these Pokemon critters. I bet I can be a very strong trainer! I just need to get going. If anyone has heard of anypony named Applejack, Sweetie Belle or Scootaloo, please let me know. I can do tthis!

[Meinfoo hops on Apple Bloom's lap content and shown on feed.]

Oh, and if they are here and see this? I'm fine. This is Kicks, my partner. She's a Meinfoo the weird encyclopedia thing says. Bye! I'm going to see if I can catch something!

Third Person Sample:

Apple Bloom, Cutie Mark Crusader woke up with a jolt when she heard a loud noise. As she slowly opened her eyes, she put her front hooves on the ground and tried to hop up off her bed. Only two problems: one she was not home and two, instead of hooves she had claws? Afterwards, Apple Bloom's voice could be heard for quite a while in New Bark Town. She put her what do you call them, fingers to her mouth to keep from screaming again. "What in Ponyville is going on? What happened to me? I don't see anyone here I recognize. No Sweetie Belle or Applejack or even Scootaloo."

She was in somepony's house except for a change in body and wearing clothes (these particular clothes were a pair of jeans and yellow shirt, not that Apple Bloom ever wore anything like that before), Apple Bloom withheld her freaking out to check outside. Or she would have, if weren't for falling flat on the floor. She knew she was not hurt, but still that hurt. "Ow... This is going to be hard walking on two legs now. " Without meaning to, her hand pressed the the small ball by her chest and out a brillant red light showing a small pink and pale yellow bipedal creature.

"Um... hi?" With a cry of 'Meinfoo' the creature helped the slightly larger Apple Bloom until she had recovered her footing. "You could have warned me before doing that. I'm Apple Bloom" Meinfoo just gave a slight nod, and followed her trainer as Apple Bloom walked outside the house. She almost lost her footing agian when she stared up into the sky and the town's buildings.

"This is definitely not Sweet Apple Acres or even Ponyville. Where the hay am I? Was this some sort of magic thing? Did I volunteer for some sort of magic test of Twilight's? I don't think I did..." Apple Bloom then felt a tug on her leg. She looked down to see Meinfoo with a hand on her stomach. "Hungry, huh? That's see if I have something a critter like you can eat." Apple Bloom grabbed some food and gave it to her who then gobbled it right up.

"Once I figure what's going on, how would you like to come with me?" Meinfoo gave an affirmative nod.

Character
Name: Aelita Stones
Series: Code Lyoko
Timeline: After the events of Season 4 episode ‘Double Take’
Canon Resource Links: http://codelyoko.wikia.com/wiki/Aelita_Schaeffer

Personality: Aelita has been shown throughout the series to be quite intelligent and smart beyond her years. She's always been kind, generous and compassionate to her friends and others, but she's also witty; she's been quick - and good - at coming up with insults and outsmarted monsters on Lyoko. However, as the youngest of the Lyoko Warriors (physically she’s 13 years old; chronologically, she's around 22 years old) Aelita's also the most naive.

During her first few days on Earth her feelings were hurt easily and she had been easily swayed by others. Thanks to the support of her friends, Aelita was able to adapt to life on Earth quickly and has matured. She didn't have much in the way of social skills at first, but was able to adapt very well. She's polite and very respectful to adults; she does her best to be honest even though she covers up the truth about herself a number of times, especially when her connection to Franz Hopper is close to being revealed during season four.

Aelita blushes whenever she talks about things that are secretive between Jeremie and herself. (She's Jeremie's love interest.) Aelita grew fond of Jeremie during the first season and talked with him on a daily basis about his life. Their romantic feelings developed over the series and Aelita learned she didn't always have to like the same things Jeremie liked to be with him. Yumi and Aelita have a close bond, both being the only girls in the group. They tend to share stories and gossip together, as shown in the Season 2 episode 'Common Interest.' In the Season 4 Christmas episode ‘Distant Memory,’ when Aelita said she was staying at Kadic to keep an eye on XANA, Yumi suggests that she spend Christmas with her and her family. Aelita politely refused, but said she would keep in touch with her. (Aelita spends Christmas with Jeremie and his family at the end of the episode.) Odd and Aelita have a great friendship as he treats her like one of the guys. Ulrich was the first member of the team other than Jeremie to learn about her existence. They have a good friendship, Ulrich treating Aelita like a sibling and he spends a lot of time protecting her; both Ulrich and Odd call Aelita ‘Princess’ while on Lyoko. Aelita has been shown to get irritated and upset, mostly toward Jeremie when he would rather work on one of his projects instead of taking time out to enjoy her interests; she also got angry with Odd when his laziness caused them both to get in trouble in the Season 4 episode ‘Replika‘ and they argued with each other. (Thanks to Yumi and Ulrich choosing to go on a mission away from them, they were able to make up in time to keep two of their classmates from discovering the Factory.) The only time she was angry with Ulrich was during the Season 3 episode 'The Pretender' when he told a younger classmate - who liked Yumi - to follow her around all day to get her attention, which Yumi hates.

Strengths/Weaknesses:

+ She’s very adept at computers and anything involving electronics
+ She loves to play music, knows how to play the piano and is a talented DJ
+ She gets along well with others
+ She knows how to ride various vehicles when needed
+ She’s been taught Pencak Silat (an Indonesian combat style) by Ulrich
- She takes people at their word on occasion and has been tricked, both on Earth and on Lyoko
- She’s susceptible to mind control
+ - She was one of XANA’s main targets frequently alongside Jeremie and Yumi, XANA considering her a major threat and someone he needed alive
- She has nightmares regarding her past involving her parents, wolves, men in black and the final moments with her father leading to her being virtualized on Lyoko for the first time

Samples
First Person Sample: The screen clicks on, and for a long moment pink hair is visible until a very familiar ‘Toge-toge-prrrri~!’ is heard, followed by light giggling.

It’s okay; don’t be afraid Togepi! I’m just trying out my new equipment. Hello? I’m Aelita Stones – like the rock band? I’m new to Johto and while I’ve figured out that I’m on a journey I don’t know why I was chosen to be pulled to a different world! At least it’s not a XANA plot…

But onto my point: has anyone seen any of my friends around? First is Jeremie: he has blonde hair, sometimes wears a blue sweater and has glasses. You’ll recognize Odd at first glance –his hair sticks straight up, wears mostly purple and he tells a lot of jokes! Most of them aren’t that funny, but don’t tell him I said that. Ulrich’s quiet but very kind and respectful to people he meets. Yumi’s great to be around, wears mostly black and she’s Japanese. Try not to make that mistake around her.

(Aelita soon hears Togepi talking in that familiar trilling voice she’s loved hearing since arriving.)

What’s that? A Pokemon’s nearby? Well, we should see what kind it is and try to catch it; you’re pretty powerful for a cute little thing, but you can’t take on everyone by yourself! Thanks for listening, and I’ll try to answer back when I’m not in the middle of a Pokemon battle!

Third Person Sample: Aelita woke up, looking around worriedly for a long moment, expecting to see the familiar setting of Lyoko or anyone of the 5 sectors…but instead, she didn’t see the Mountain, Ice, Desert, Forest sectors or even the mysterious Sector 5. To her surprise, what she saw almost reminded her of Kadic.

“Toge-toge-prrrrrri~!”

Almost. She nearly screamed in surprise while looking around once more, finally feeling something press into her leg and looked down to see a small egg-like Pokemon raising it’s tiny arms.

“Awww…look at you! You’re cute, but I’m pretty sure you’re not someone’s pet and if you’re here then I’m not at Kadic; pets aren’t allowed, even if I know someone who breaks that rule every day.” Aelita picked up Togepi almost immediately, relaxing and feeling much better.

“Your name’s Togepi? I’m Aelita, and I’d love to be your friend! I'm sure we’ll find my friends soon, but for now we should figure a few things out…like why I was picked to come and not one of my other friends. Ulrich and Odd would love it here! Well...maybe Odd more than Ulrich.”

Character
Name: Katara
Series: Avatar: The Last Airbender
Timeline: Book 3: Series finale (After meeting up with Hakoda, Suki, and the Kiyoshi warriors)
Canon Resource Links:

Personality: Warning: Lots of spoilers below, and so much of Katara's character development is seen -IN CANON- that much of this just focuses on covering those major points. I'm very sorry for the TL;DR aspect here!

Katara's dominant personality traits are generally positive ones, or at the very least neutral. She's pretty much a happy and balanced individual, especially considering she comes from a world where she's basically a rebel fighting a war for she and her companions lives. She is absolutely ATROCIOUS at telling jokes (I swear, Sokka used up all traces of the family humor.), something that becomes apparent much later on in the series. She's funny enough when she's just being witty and sarcastic, but please, PLEASE do not ever ask her to tell an actual joke. She seems to be pretty good at telling ghost stories, though. She becomes something of a stick in the mud as the show goes on. She loves to be around water or snow, naturally. When she loses her bending powers she feels helpless and empty without those powers as they've been a part of her since she was almost too young to remember. Having them stripped away from her feels like losing a vital piece of her identity.

From the very start of the series Katara is undeniably the mother-hen type. When she and Sokka were little the Southern Raiders attacked their village in search of the last water bender in the South pole (from which it is safe to assume that Katara had already discovered her powers when she was very little). Katara and Sokka had been playing when the tell-tale black snow began to fall. Even though Katara rushed home to their mother she only arrived in time to find Kaya already being confronted by the ship's captain. She was told to go find her father but when they made it back Kaya was "already gone" (I don't believe it's ever said outright that she was killed in the hut.). This means Katara was the last one to see Kaya alive.

This left Katara with a deeply rooted anger (and hatred) for the man responsible and to a lesser degree anger towards the Fire Nation itself. Because of the loss of their mother at such an early age for both kids Katara was left as the only female figure in the family aside from their Gran-Gran. She began to actively fill the void Kaya left behind. Laundry, cooking, taking care of them when they were sick or hurt, scolding, almost all of it. She certainly knows how to nag like a mom, too, but you can truly say that she does it out of love.

The aforementioned anger towards the Fire Nation was mostly hidden under an even stronger sense of fear towards it. When she met Aang he challenged her to overcome her fears in order to become a better bender. She'd tried to teach herself for years while lacking another bender in their tribe but sadly she didn't seem to get that far. She might have seemed hesitant but in my opinion Katara really jumped at the chance to learn more about the gift that had been left to her, that her mother had (unbeknownst to Katara) died to protect. She probably really would have left with Aang for the North pole if Aang hadn't recognized how much pain doing so would have brought her. It worked out in the end since Katara and Sokka ended up going on those famously grand adventures with Aang anyway. As they traveled she learned water bending fast-- though not faster than Aang.

She's displayed a well rounded range of emotions, not all of them "good". She was jealous and competitive towards Aang as they were learning together and she felt completely outpaced by the young avatar. She even became so envious and spiteful that she stole a water bending scroll-- from pirates(!), so technically that made her more like Robin Hood and not an actual thief(!) --to try to learn. Surprisingly that plan blew up in their faces when the pirates came after them and it also drew the attention of the avatar-hunting Fire Nation.

She's head strong, stubborn, and has a fierce sense of justice as well as a penchant for grand speeches, demonstrated when she decided to pose as an earth bending prisoner to rescue a friend. After seeing the prisoner's plight she took this plan of action a step further and coerced her brother, Aang, and friend into breaking them all out. Katara can also be a little controlling. At the very least she's subconciously dead set on being the parental figure in the group when it comes to the domestic things. Sokka might be the "leader" in planning their next moves but Katara runs the chores, and Katara says that the work HAS to be divided fairly. When Toph joins the group her independent attitude regarding chores clearly did not fit into Katara's plans. The two butted heads pretty badly over it, with things coming down to a screaming match, ending usually with Toph earth bending to teach Katara some form of a lesson.

As the show progresses Katara has a lot of other major developments. I'll only talk about two in specific.

- At the Northern tribe Katara is forced to chose between openly defying years of sexist tradition or silencing herself so that Aang can learn water bending. If you saw the show you know well enough how THAT ended. Katara is NOT very good at keeping silent like a good little woman. In case you didn't then I'll tell you: At first she tried to be compliant, settled for learning in secret from Aang after his own training, but they were found out by Pakku who then refused to teach Aang any further. When told that she would have to apologize to get Pakku to take Aang back as his student she struggled and finally seemed to submit.... only to turn around and challenge Pakku's manhood, picking a fight, and finally proving that she was worthy of learning from Pakku. Later on she was declared a master water bender. Ironically this also propelled her ahead of Aang in skill level, and she became his assigned (by Pakku) teacher from that point on.

- During their travels incognito through the Fire Nation she encounters another bender from the Southern tribe, Hama. The seemingly gentle inn-keeper uncovers a dark and twisted aspect of their abilities as benders: Blood bending. In a bid to pass the skill onto a successor to help bring down the Fire Nation (or maybe just for the purpose of corrupting someone else) Hama tricked a completely unwilling, pleading Katara into learning it in order to protect Aang and Sokka. This particular plot point is ESPECIALLY key. I think that it's at this point that Katara's innocence is completely fractured. To have that kind of power over another person goes against everything Katara holds to be right, but the ability is like a drug. Once she's used it the first time she was much less hesitant the next time the need arose. It's a dangerous skill in the hands of someone who can show so little remorse while caught up in the act. It's a terrible responsibility and Katara is loathed to have it. The idea that one day she might come around and realize she's done some terrible, monsterous deed is a bit much for her to bear. She seems to be bottling up her feelings on the matter though, as it's never explained exactly how she feels about it, even after Zuko sees her using it.

After this point Katara's personality takes on a very dark, and I do mean dark edge. Most of the time she seemed normal enough, but there were several instances closer to the end after Zuko joined the group. His presence seemed to be the trigger, more than anything. Her "reception" of him was by far the coldest. She snapped at him often, insulted, accused, and provoked him at any given chance. Any attempts at helping her were met with a total lack of gratitude until finally confronted about it. Katara confesses to being furious with him for breaking her trust so completely when she was the first one to give him a chance-- doubling the severity of the wound. Worse still is the fact that she's using him as a target for her rage towards the Fire Nation for what happened to her mother. Thankfully Zuko does re-earn her trust by enabling her to confront her past demons, in spite of the opinions of Aang and Sokka on the matter. Ultimately it was for the best. Katara was completely blinded by her growing thirst for revenge. Confronting her mother's killer seems to have soothed her rage back into it's corner again despite her failure to take revenge. Zuko was forgiven in the process.

After what happened to Jet you would probably think Katara would have learned a lesson on how silly it is to hold grudges towards people who've changed (Zuko). There's the matter of trust, for Katara, however. It's also at least in small part likely because she was afraid that as soon as she forgave him he'd be taken away too and he almost was actually; both situations ended with Jet/Zuko lying at her feet with a grave injury that she had to try to heal. The difference was that she was actually able to save Zuko.

As to her relationships with the others: Sokka is her dorky, protective older brother. They bicker sometimes but she loves him and it shows. She keeps up with him very well, will scold him when needed, and is usually the first to try to cheer him up or expresses concern for his well being. Toph seems to be the only one unafraid to call Katara out on her bull shit. Because of it they seem to have a pretty honest relationship. Usually with the others she immediately feels guilty and stops either before or right after a line has been crossed. That's not to say that Katara doesn't feel guilt over things that she's said to Toph, more that she gets so caught up in the moment that it's usually long after the two have argued that Katara's guilt sets in. It's cleansing in a way. Of the group Katara is the most protective towards Aang. He represents hope for Katara, maybe more than anything else. Not only is he the avatar, the world's last hope, but it's because of Aang that Katara was able to learn water bending, see the world, really laugh and have fun again instead of being a grown up trapped in a teenager's body. She's very motherly towards him, and accordingly he's still very childish. Katara is admittedly confused about his feelings towards her and hers towards him.

Overall Katara has done a lot of growing over the series. She hates to see her loved ones in pain, especially Aang. Seeing him go into the avatar state because of rage or grief is heartbreaking for her. There is a fierce protectiveness to her, much exactly like that of a mother bear. She encompasses the aspects and duality of her element so very, very well: Gentle yet fierce, nurturing yet firm, adaptable yet stubborn, patient, enduring, soothing, and most of all always moving forward. None of the obstacles of her past have kept her from going on and living life. Some of them might slow her down but like water blocked up by a bolder eventually she'll wear it down and find her way through. This is exactly why I think that in time she'll inevitably find it in herself to forgive, even if it takes longer.

Strengths/Weaknesses:

+ Katara is a natural born home maker, pretty much.
+ Master water bender
+ Usually very perceptive and resourceful
+ Strong sense of self discipline
+ Has experience from her first trip to Johto

- Easily drawn into other people's problems by her urge to help the less fortunate, she's a meddler
- Has difficulty (to put it mildly) putting her pride aside and admitting that said meddling is wrong
- Morals seem a touch shady at times (see: stealing from pirates isn't wrong but cheating a cheater IS)
- Defensive about the fact that she's so motherly
- Has one hell of a temper when pushed
- Without water bending she doesn't really have anything else by means of self defense

Note: I reused the samples from her previous app, but I can write fresh ones if requested.

First Person Sample: [ Katara decided to bypass doing an "introduction" post this time. She already knows her way around Johto, intimately at that. Why she'd ended up back was anyone's guess, let alone hers. She's seen enough people come and go to know the drill, too.

None of her Pokemon were present? Check. Woke up back in "mom's" house? Yep. No badges, and stuck in New Bark Town? Yeah, she's starting from scratch.

So don't mind too much if her video (despite being late) is short.

Bemused smile is bemused. ]

It looks like Johto wasn't quite done with me yet.

[ Speaking of, the video feed is on the move! She seems to already be heading down Route twenty nine. YEP. She knows the drill, and the Piplup comfortably situated on her shoulder looks excited. WE GOT THIS, BROSIS. ]

New starter, no badges... I hope that everyone's alright. If anyone here ended up with my Pokemon, could you let me know? You don't have to return them if you don't want to, I'd just like to know if they're okay. [ Because there's a chance someone like ENVY got one. >B| ] It looks like I'm starting over again.

[ Discreetly shaky breath. She'd planned to call a few people by name but after several months she's more worried about the disappointment of NOT getting an answer. The names form but won't come out, so she's forced to recover quickly (Piplup's attention is definitely elsewhere still). ]

So I... I thought it would be easier to ask for anyone I know to contact me, if you're still here, so... [ And here she musters up her strength and puts on a smile like nothing in the world is wrong. ] Call me? I can't wait to hear from you guys again.

[ Seems like as good a place as any to end the feed, right? Right. ]

Third Person Sample: Katara and Nini, her Piplup, sat on the side of the road with their backs to a tree, taking a break from walking. Nini held a bite of food in her flippers, working away at it while Katara stared skyward past the leaves on their makeshift shelter. She braced on her hands, taking in a deep breath and letting it back out with a sort of sigh. With weather like this who could stay nervous and upset?

"I mean, it's not like I'm really that unlucky that NO ONE I know is still here, right?"

Nini turned her head, never once stopped eating, and gave Katara a stare. Chew, chew, chew.

After a significant pause both girls turned their gazes ahead again and Katara went on reasoning to no one.

"Besides, even if I am, that can't last, right? People come and go all the time, and I can make new friends! I'm friendly, right? We just met, but you think I'm friendly, right?"

More chewing. More staring. No answers would be forthcoming from Nini until she's done stuffing her face, except when she turns her head to look Katara is giving her such an expectant, hopeful smile... "The answer is YES.", it said, kind of like a mother talking to her children.

So Nini nodded enthusiastically.

"Piplup!"

Apparently that was the right thing to say, Katara relaxed a little, visibly. A happy trainer will keep the food coming, right?

Sure enough another morsel was offered after a moment.

Others would probably tell her she shouldn't get her hopes up, but Katara was nothing without hope after all. Out of all the people she knew at least one of them had to still be here, right? Even if she was disappointed now she might be rewarded later. It had taken so long for Sokka to return last time, but he HAD shown up.

And was it crazy for her to feel so apprehensive just about making that post? She told herself that there was no point in making it sooner logically, but truthfully it might have been fear of the response (or lack there of) that made her hesitate for hours...? Maybe.

Sometimes hope just needed a little time to build, okay? It had been a while, she needed to get her bearings and figure out what she'd missed exactly. A year? More? Less? The dating system they used wasn't one that they'd adopted back home, so really. Where did March place in the grand scheme of things? Was it March when she showed up last time? Suddenly she couldn't remember.

That was another thing, actually; that was the strange part. She could tell by the date that she'd been gone for at least enough time to pass that the month had changed, but for her it felt as if she'd barely been gone a day. Talk about time moving by way too fast.

The grass in front of them began to rustle suddenly, and both Pokemon and trainer go to their feet in preparation for battle. There was one thing to definitely be grateful for in Johto, Katara suddenly remembered: Nature didn't leave time for idle thought.

"Let's go, Nini!"

Character
Name: Dick Grayson (“Robin”)
Series: Young Justice (animated series)
Timeline: post-“Home Front”
Canon Resource Links: http://youngjustice.wikia.com/wiki/Nightwing
Personality: Dick is a thirteen-year-old kid—who also happens to be a superhero’s sidekick partnersidekick younger associate. He approaches this in two different ways: he is, on the one hand, conscious of the whole life-saving and better-world-making aspect of the deal; his family were the victims of violent crime and he’d rather not see anyone else suffer through that—or if they did, he’d like to get those responsible some nice, restrictive silver bracelets and a charming jail cell.
On the other hand—Robin is a thirteen year old kid. He is capable of realizing that he can hack the Justice League’s computer, beat up all kinds of bad guys, and crack jokes while doing it, and it’s actually pretty cool all on its own. The how and why of becoming Robin still causes him pain, but Robin itself is something to be proud of and enjoy.

And he is proud of it. Robin has a fairly clear idea of exactly how skilled he is, which translates to great confidence—even a smug sort of arrogance at times. He has a tendency to either assume everyone else is on the same page, or else assume that they’ll catch up if they’re not. He’s not very good at explaining himself yet, but he is good at setting and achieving goals, and recognizing which goals he is or is not equal to. He knows he can usually plot a course of action to achieve a mission objective, but he was also able to (after some trial and error—mostly error) recognize that a) the team couldn’t read his mind and b) he lacked the leadership experience it would take to get everyone up to speed, delegate jobs, and generally be responsible for that many people.
Robin’s sense of humor is usually at the forefront of what he’s doing. He is capable of buckling down and getting serious when the situation calls for it, but if it doesn’t? He has no compunctions against making fun of his friends or enemies. He counterpoints most of Wally’s attempts to look cool with sly commentary and outright (and rather conspicuously) points and laughs hysterically when Superboy gets thrown around by their combat trainer. After snarking on his best friend’s earlier beatdown. And excessively enough that Aqualad felt it prudent that he stop.
If you do something amusing, he will tell you. After cracking up, and not without an injection of sarcasm.
Despite that, his affection for his friends is sincere, and he seems to make friends with other superkids fairly easily. He was welcoming to Superboy and Miss Martian, and while his reaction to Artemis was decidedly lowkey, he does defend to her to his best friend in a smooth, similarly lowkey way. He clearly isn’t as close to them as Kid Flash or Aqualad, whom he’s known for years, but he’s capable of working with them, accepts them, and tries to include them. He does like people and he likes to talk, he just tends to have an ‘I’m good and I know it’ vibe in there.
He is also rather thoughtful and observant. He’s a quick-witted, intelligent kid, who likes dissecting words and is apparently good enough at math to be honored at his school. To say nothing of his technological expertise, and the creator mentioned on his website that he has a passing familiarity with several different languages. Give him a reason to learn it, and he will sit down and do it.
At his core, though, he is a hero. He spends his free time either dodging bullets to make the world a better place, or training to make himself better at dodging bullets to make the world a better place. As mentioned, he has himself been touched very close by violent crime, and did not stop his pursuit for justice when the man responsible was caught. He’s been working as Robin for four years, longer than any other sidekick junior hero. Shows no signs of stopping; he’s committed.
Strengths/Weaknesses:
+ Good at sizing up situations and planning things.
- BAD at translating this to a situation where the team can help and not get caught in confusion and/or crossfire.
+ Skilled acrobat/aerialist/gymnast, though this and his hand-to-hand fighting abilities will be scaled back.
- Slight problem with jealousy: he doesn’t lash out at who he’s jealous of, but internalizes it and takes it out in physical activity.
+ Good little soldier who can follow orders!
- …until he hits “rebellious teenager” mode and starts taking matters into his own hands and getting in over his head.
- Is not always the most polite little kid hero, and has a tendency to tease.
+ Still tends to form a friendly, if not enthusiastically so, regard
+ Exceptional all-around general intelligence, including mathematics, technology, linguistics, detective work, etc. He’s smart and skilled, but this is all learned. He isn’t a genius so much as he’s hardworking and determined.
- Part and parcel of being Batman’s protégé, but he’s not exactly trusting. He has no problem withholding his identity from his teammates (going so far as to view it as something of a game).
+ He is capable of overcoming that, however. He has disobeyed Batman before and told Kid Flash his name, but only Kid Flash and only because KF is special like that.

First Person Sample:

[The gear snaps on after falling out of the bag. Heard in the background is the sound of a Pokeball releasing its occupant, and wings flapping. The Pokemon, a Taillow, nudges the Pokegear towards the edge of—yes, it’s a roof. The bag was tossed up on to the roof of Mom’s house, the gear and Pokeball were jostled by the impact, and they are now both looking over the edge at a boy dressed in a red and black bodysuit, with a yellow and black cape. He’s climbing out of the bedroom window. The Taillow focuses the camera on the “R” logo on the kid’s chest. It looks important!]

Ooookay. Definitely not in Kansas anymore. Kansas would be so good right about now.

[He edges a little further out, seating himself on the windowsill, back towards the outside, and sizing up the roof. He catches sight of the bird holding the camera and grins, the eye lenses of his domino mask widening to reflect slight surprise. He doesn’t realize that it’s recording yet.]
Me not being in Kansas anymore must make you Toto, huh? Or Dinah. Birds holding cameras seem a bit more Wonderland than Oz, but I’m not the expert. So long as you’re not Cheshire, I think we can work with it, though.
[He looks back up at the roof, still grinning. He grips the edge with both hands, and pulls himself up with a grunt, and mutters:]
Since when does this require effort?

[Another grunt of exertion, and Robin forces his body upwards into a handstand, trying to balance on the edge of a sloped roof, before turning a quick tumble into a crouch.

It… doesn’t work that way. His legs are wobbling slightly, and when he tries to swing into the tumble, his balance shifts and he topples over with a brief yell of shock.

In the opposite direction.

Off the roof.

Shocked yell out of the way, Robin begins trying to grip something, anything on the wall while the Taillow squawks in distress and drops the camera. The Pokegear rights itself on the ground just in time to see the bird grasp the Boy Wonder’s cape.

It slows his descent, but the weight is too much for a small, level 5 Taillow and the two crash into the ground, Robin groaning as his knees absorb the impact. He gives the bird a pained, but grateful look.]

Well, you have Superman’s color scheme down. We can work on the rescuing thing.

[He flops over, lying on his side. Taillow uses his wings to shade his eyes from the sun, and Robin gently strokes the bird’s breast. Annoyed:]

I cannot believe I just fell off a roof. Nobody saw that, right? I just fell off a roof. Batman would kill me if he knew I actually fell off a roof. I mean, there goes my reputation. Say nothing of the mystique. A roof. Not even a big roof. It’s only two stories—and—

[He notices the Pokegear Taillow dropped. It’s lit up.]
Why is that thing—

[He turns it off quickly.]

Third Person Sample:

Okay, first fact‘s first: his mother is dead. Ergo, this woman who left the backpack on the desk cannot be his mother. His mind runs through possibilities: Joker trick, fear toxin, holographic simulation of some kind? He’s noticing too many details: the bag has a strange circular logo on it, he’s still wearing his mask and she didn’t comment—indicators of the whole thing being someone else’s construct. The food inside looks Japanese (well, except for the trail mix), and Robin frowns, because that’s definitely not something his mind would give him. A sandwich and trail mix, sure, but a—it’s called a bento, if he remembers correctly? Who does he know in Japan who has a grudge against him or Batman?

A good enough grudge that he wakes up in a strange bed with an empty utility belt and no computer in his gloves. If it’s morning in Japan—assuming he is in Japan and he can’t check without his computer unless he asks someone and the ‘mom’ is way too suspect to trust to give helpful details like that--but if it’s morning in Japan, it’s definitely not in Gotham or Bialya—for that matter, which morning is it? Robin can’t know if he’s lost hours or days or even if his memory has been wiped again.

Nah. Can’t be. That thought immediately brings Miss Martian to mind, and she would definitely be wiped from any recent, relevant memories. So he remembers her, and she’s not in range, because he’s thinking really, really loudly
Miss M, now would be a great time to come in…

The eyes behind his mask narrow as he continues looking through the bag. No effective weapons, although the clothesline might be worth something in a pinch, and maybe the soap, if he can get it into someone’s eyes. Nothing looks too dangerous, and Robin would recognize a bomb if he saw it, thank you.
He looks around the room again, and it looks pretty bare. Nothing’s worth taking that isn’t already in the bag. He wishes again for his computer, or even his radio, because if someone else knew where he was, that might be helpful.

Which means, the only thing to do is to get a hold of someone else’s computer.

He glances at the door.

Just preferably? Not hers.

Korra | Avatar: The Legend Of Korra | Reserved -- part 2/3

[personal profile] secretambition 2013-03-15 07:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality: [going a bit further in canon to explain different sides of her, but mostly staying in her current canon point!]

Korra is the next Avatar after Avatar Aang and as Tenzin sad it, she is his legacy -- but she's as opposite of the airbender as one can be. Mako describes her as "this girl is crazy" and he's quite right about that - Korra is the impatient, extremely hot tempered and arrogant new Avatar, who was born to bring balance to the world... Too bad the girl, who is still in Avatar training, isn't the most balanced person herself.

Korra is friendly, she's glad to meet new people after spending so much time in one place, and she has no problems talking to strangers either. Coming up with something to talk to might be a bit difficult at first, but once she really gets started, she's actually very chatty and loves talking with people. She loves having fun, but her kind of fun is usually something more extreme than makeovers and other girly stuff. She's really bad at all girly stuff, really really bad, but she's all excited about things such as extreme sports (race cars, probending, etc.) Korra likes to have fun, and people call her funny. She's one of the most loyal friends anyone can ever get, because she will always be there for them whenever they need her and she's not one to tell their secrets to anyone else. In fact, she's the one whose secrets get told, but she can live with that - she won't be enraged to anyone for too long for telling that stuff. It happens, she'll explain it somehow if she has to - or rather jumps into another topic entirely to and that's that. It's her duty as the Avatar to help people, but Korra really loves helping people in general. When Bolin is missing, Korra instantly offers her help to Mako and even talks herself into helping the cool guy, who is not so willing to accept her help at first. She helps strangers too whenever they need any kind of help. The girl shows affection easily, hugging is very normal for her and despite all the rude attitude she shows often, she's quite a warm person on the inside. She cares about people, she doesn't want to see anyone get hurt and she can get along with people of all ages if they can handle her as a whole package.

Extremely impatient, she wants things to happen right now and she can't wait at all when she wants - or needs - to do something. When people tell her "No" and give their reasons, she'll act like a good girl on that moment, agreeing to whatever it was -- only to do things her way as soon as no one's looking. She ran away from home to find Tenzin from a city, when Tenzin couldn't stay there to teach her and she ran to the Republic City to watch probending when Tenzin forbid her from going anywhere near it. She's tired of being the overprotected girl, who must sit at the South Pole waiting for people to come there instead of being able to go to places herself. She won't let anyone stop her, even if she must break some rules and people's trust in her. She believes that she'll be fine and they're worrying for nothing. Korra is impulsive, she lets her heart tell her what to do instead of thinking clearly. The Spiritual Side of her Avatar training has never opened up to her, so she's still a wild girl, who can't stay still for too long.

Her fierce temper goes easily from zero to thousand, whenever little things or big things annoy her too much. Whether it's words or actions anyone can usually get a piece of that temper in a very short time of knowing her. She's arrogant of her wonderful powers and very proud of the fact that she's the Avatar. Korra's usual way of solving problems is by fighting and her motto seems to be "Let's do this!" as she repeats it often in more or less serious situations. Usually Korra fights with her powers, those being bending with water in all forms, fire and earth, but sometimes it's just words. She doesn't realize how much damage her powers will do to her surroundings, at least not until it's too late -- a few buildings (or their windows) crashed here and there, road looking more like something for extreme sports etc. She doesn't think ahead, she just does things without thinking and aims to win against her opponents as soon as possible. She destroyed a street in Republic City as soon as she got there and she threw an opponent out of the ring on probending match. Too bad she was supposed to throw them out from the back of the ring and Korra threw him out from the side as soon as the bell rang, so it was a big mistake on her part. She's ready to jump into any situation to kick some bad guy's ass, really, and sometimes her friends manage to stop her by grabbing her arm and talking sense to her in the situation. That's when the talk actually works to her frustration, at least she can be stopped from doing stuff sometimes. Korra is tough she's a fighter and a stubborn person, who is unwilling to back away from things. She's brave, says she's not afraid of anyone and she's willing to fight against anyone and willing to defend anyone who needs protection. She tends to be a reckless hothead, who gets into trouble for not thinking ahead. She really should find out stuff about her enemies first before she rushes to challenge them. Korra can also be quite the sarcastic and smug brat at times, whenever she has the chance for it. Saying offensive comments to people, who annoy her is pretty normal for her. It's also normal whenever she's being all smug about her skills, or proving someone wrong. She doesn't take it lightly when peple underestimate her, she'll prove them wrong as much as she needs to. She can back up her big mouth with her skills. You just got to deal with her - or suffer from her, if you can't handle all that attitude.

For Korra it is extremely difficult to keep her mouth shut even when she should. She talks back when people (with higher authority or without it) say things that she doesn't like. She's not afraid to tell her own opinion and see if she can change their mind with it. If she clearly can't, then she either goes to find a place where she can calm down on her own, or she just seems like she gives up on the topic... But she's still thinking about it inside her own head, thinking that she's right and the other person is wrong, until something proves her wrong or she realizes how wrong she is. Ends up saying stuff that she shouldn't say, because she doesn't know much about the topic. But if she hurts people with her words, she'll apologize. She's not someone to ruin a friend's relationship either, but she just can't keep her mouth shut in front of her love interest anyway -- so she thinks about it for some time, then just bluntly confesses her love for him. As a girl in love who becomes rejected by the guy, Korra tends to be very jealous of the boy whenever his girlfriend is around. She makes disgusted faces when they cuddle or kiss and she's not willing to spend time with the whole group at first, because seeing those two hurts. When she falls for a guy, she wants to do something to impress him and won't take a "Not bad" as a good enough reaction. Korra makes a lot of faces in all situations, her feelings can be clearly read from most of those faces and mostly she's not even trying to hide anything. She also realizes when people around her are jealous and she can be smug about them falling for her. Why? Because said person looks as if he's not impressed by her at all, but looks like he's just good at hiding his feelings for her until she finds out. Lead by her heart, she does kiss him and gets kissed back, she just has to try it when she finds out that he has feelings for her too, but that's that. She won't do anything more about it when the whole situations ends up into them fighting about the kiss anyway. She's not a patient person, no, but she realizes her chances are down in zero with a taken guy. And ruining someone's relationship is just a no, no, despite how naive she can be at times. She's just a normal teenaged girl, who has normal teenage problems... Well, outside of her role as the Avatar that is. She can also be quite a teaser, when she gets a chance. And she probably shouldn't ask love advice from little girls, but she does and then she never asks it from them again.

Korra is a girl without some manners (other than just arguing with people in higher rank, orz), for example she has a short burping contest with Bolin in a restaurant full of people and she tries to eat fishes in a park, which is illegal but she didn't think too much at that time. But she does have some good manners too. Korra knows how to be polite sometimes! She knows when to say thank you, show respect, bow or when to apologize for things she has said or done, and she does them (and actually means them too) in situations where they're needed. She's not stupid or slow with thinking, as some people might be surprised to notice. She's just extremely wild and she likes to have her own freedom to do things and she really loves the action, she was born to do all the action after all... It's difficult for Korra to calm down and be patient, in fact she doesn't do it all at this point. But she's also clever and smart, being able to convince people into her way of thinking, realizing things easily and coming up with plans that actually work - so much that she can save her own life or someone else's life with her ideas. She can explain things with some good logic when she has to, and she can give a good speech when she has to, she's just not very used to giving speeches.

As open / honest as Korra is about most stuff (her crush on a guy, her opinions, her rights, challenges, being needed in a city as the Avatar etc.), there are things that she bottles up inside her. Then she puts a brave front and pretends that everything is just fine, not letting anyone to actually see that she's scared and/or worried. Her fears and insecurities are things like these. When something frightens her, she won't let anyone know about her being scared. She has nightmares, she wakes up from them and while she has supportive people around her, she doesn't want to admit her fears to anyone. Everyone has such great expectations of her, she doesn't want to let them down by telling them that she too is afraid of their worst enemy. And then there's the fact that spiritual world and airbending won't come to her at all, she feels like she's the worst Avatar ever after all the training she does with no result. Same no result gets her so frustrated that she starts blaming others for her own impatience and mistakes and everything else, says horrible things to people who are trying to help her and runs away in anger. If she can't fight a person, then she rather just leaves and calms down somewhere on her own. She didn't even go to say goodbye to the airbender family, when they left her home after getting frustrated about the fact that they weren't going to stay in the South Pole for her Avatar training. She can be cold like that, despite her favorite and most used element being the hot fire. Korra doesn't want to seem weak. She rarely cries in the company of others. If she's about to cry, she wants to be left alone and she'll go far away to have some peace, where she can just cry without anyone seeing it. But she really doesn't cry often.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
+ Physically strong, even if it goes down 50% in this world. In canon she's able to kick through doors, raise three kids and an adult man from the ground into a group hug, etc. Also great physical state, she won't get tired easily!
+ Athletic, she moves like a monkey in fight situations and knows martial arts too
+ Social and friendly, she has no problem talking with people even if finding words might be a bit difficult at first.
+ Loyal to the good side and her friends
+ Brave, she has never backed away from anything or anyone
+ Honest, it's not always good for her, but at least she can speak up her mind when she wants to.

+/- Loves to help people, it is her duty as the Avatar to help! She's selfless, if anyone needs her help, she'll help. ...And she might get in trouble because she just jumps straight into middle of situations.
-/+ She's always had people taking care of her, she's never really needed money or other normal stuff, so being out in the wild is going to be ... new. She can be independent too though, so it just takes a while to get used to.

- IMPATIENT, can things just happen right now?
- Brave fronts, she's not always as brave as she acts - but she won't admit her fears and stays strong. Insecurities, we all have them. Korra is too good at hiding her own insecurities and not facing her own fears, she bottles them all up.
- Losing her bending abilities is one of her biggest fears, she was born to have them and she's proud and arrogant of them. ...So thank you for making that fear come true. She'll adapt with the powers of her Pokémon.
- When she's frustrated with herself, she takes it out on other people.
- She usually jumps into things without thinking ahead, including challenging the most dangerous opponents into a fight even when she honestly has no chance of winning.
- Says things without thinking ahead, causing situations where she says all the wrong things at the wrong time.
- ONE HELL OF A HOT TEMPER and she lacks perception toward damage she might cause whenever her temper + powers go wild.

Zuko | Avatar: The Last Airbender | reserved Pt 2/3

[personal profile] scalded 2013-03-17 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
Personality:
When we’re first introduced to Zuko, he’s shown as the main villain on a hopeless and what seems like a never-ending search for the Avatar. Like his father and sister, it seems that being an antagonist runs in the family. From a very young age Zuko was arrogant and hot-headed, but he proved later on that there was much more to him than explosive outbursts and being a brat. He was the heir to the throne of the Fire Nation up until he was banished by his own father shortly after the man permanently scarred the left side of his face for speaking out in a war meeting. Zuko disagreeing only went to show that while his father and the rest of the war assembly were all for sacrificing those men; Zuko cared for their well-being, and he would not stand to see their lives forfeited in such a way. What’s most ironic about Zuko’s personality and situation—he was never really the bad guy. His sister and father were to credit for that position; they got the job done, and without so much as batting an eye. No, where Zuko was concerned, his affliction had nothing to do with the world around him [the war] but more so his stripped birthright and banishment, the loss of his mother. His mental state of mind.

It's because of such hardship from a young age, such emotional turmoil, that Zuko’s unable to begin proper training in creating and manipulating lightning. He has to learn to let go of all his past hardships and shame before attempting to master such a deadly ability, which he later does accomplish.

With his family split into two halves and his mother nowhere to be found for years to come – himself with his uncle Iroh opposed to his father and sister – Zuko’s only concern and wish was to capture the Avatar so that he could retake his place at his father’s side. So he could regain his father’s love and respect including his title and right to the throne. The determination to get himself back into his father’s good graces is what compels Zuko to do the things that he does. It’s the desperation that makes him out to be the bad guy in the beginning. And yet he has no malicious intent like any of the others of the Fire Nation. For the longest while Zuko went on believing that he had the worst luck, that he was unlucky and that the world had a personal vendetta against him. Because Iroh is all the family he has left, given the situation between father and son, it’s Iroh who offers words of wisdom and advice, and/or even criticizes Zuko on the bad traits he possesses/shows. Iroh later admits that Zuko has always been like a son to him and in turn, Zuko sees his uncle as a father figure.

In the years they spent together in Zuko’s expulsion, Iroh proved himself to be the father Ozai had failed to be for the boy, always there to guide and teach him, praising him, and gently (and at times firmly) scolding him. Iroh is one of the better and major influences in Zuko’s life.

Like any other born into royalty, Zuko shows some dislike towards the idea of having to work with those who are inferior to him. Or so he believes them to be. And yet it goes against the disagreeing tone he’d taken up against his father and the war assembly in the beginning. As mediocre as someone might be, Zuko refuses to simply sacrifice them for ‘tactics’ or anything at all. The lives of human beings are not expendable; he rebuffs the thought and the views of others who might see them as such. One example would be when the Avatar was spotted during a storm and Zuko’s crew continued to set course to capture him, as planned. But Zuko had the well-being of his men in mind first and foremost and put them above his need to detain Aang. Such consideration carries on throughout the series when he chooses to save those closest to him over pursuing Aang; Uncle Iroh whenever the man lands himself captured is a prime example.

In the beginning of the second book (or rather the second season), Zuko is struggling with Iroh in the Earth Kingdom as a fugitive. They’re broke which is the complete opposite of what they’d both been born into; luxury, wealth, servants tending to their every need. While Iroh makes the best of it with the practice of both patience and wisdom, even going as far as to crack a joke or two, all of it frustrates Zuko who was born with those servants and the silver spoon. Now that that spoon is rusted and carries no more worth, Zuko finds it all the harder to accept. On top of this all, Zuko’s become prey for his sister, Azula (which is nothing really new). Throughout the second book we begin to see a change in him, a change for the better; while he had resorted to stealing for his survival prior, Zuko will absolutely not steal from those who have shown compassion towards him or those who are as deprived as he.

Patience and tolerance, kindness, cunning, and precision. These are the newer traits we begin to see in Zuko in comparison to the demanding, arrogant and hot-headed attitudes shown earlier. He even goes as far as to free the Avatar’s pet bison, Appa, from imprisonment. Something he would not have done during his pursuit for the Avatar; Zuko would have instead taken Appa into his custody to provoke and draw out the Avatar in hopes of capturing him. After Zuko falls ill and experiences dreams and hallucinations due to the dangerous fever his body runs, his outlook on life takes another surprising turn. He’s walking the positive path of life, not so much negativity anymore. But as he ends up captured and locked in a cell with one of his enemies from the Team Avatar, Katara, he finds himself gradually opening up to her about his scar and part of his past. He apologizes for what had happened, all the pain and suffering the Fire Nation had caused her in taking away her mother. It almost seems like capturing the Avatar is the farthest thing from his mind at the prospect of healing his scar, but with his scar, Zuko's at a lose/lose situation. If Katara had successfully healed his scar, each day of looking in the mirror would only show him his father's face. And if the scar wasn't successfully healed, Zuko would forever live with the reminder of his abusive father, of what had been taken from him. In the end none of that matters, as both Iroh and Aang break into their prison to free them together.

It’s during that battle where he takes up sides with his sister, Azula, to battle the Avatar and Katara. And betrays his uncle. All because of Azula’s ability to manipulate people, including him, as she used his need for his father’s approval against him.

Once his side is chosen and he returns home, Zuko finds himself conflicted by the choices he made. The emotions later make themselves known, but betraying Iroh was one of the worst things he could have ever done. In some sense Zuko could be seen as no better than his father, forsaking the members of his family for a position of power. For selfish, petty reasons. And he’s left confused and angry, for the victory he finally achieved isn’t as sweet as he had hoped it would be. Instead it’s nothing but bittersweet. Sour. It leaves a sordid taste to his tongue. The conflict within returns, brews, and this time it lashes out, unrestrained. There’s good and evil battling for dominance within him. He’s unsure of what’s right from wrong anymore. Zuko begins to steadily lose himself. He speaks to Mai [his love interest at that time] and confides that he’s unhappy. All he ever wished for was that his father treated him like the perfect son and not a disappointment and embarrassment. Zuko felt that in order to please his father he wasn’t truly being himself. It was something he couldn’t accept despite it being everything that he wanted.

The only real moment Zuko truly finds peace with himself and those around him is when he makes the decision to join Team Avatar in stopping his father and the war. He leaves behind Mai and his family, the Fire Nation, even gives up his title as Prince for the cause. Zuko was willing to give up what was most important to him for the greater good of the world. The same determination and enthusiasm we saw in him at the beginning returns but this time for the better. He comes to regret the decisions he made in the past along with his negative, insolent and callous attitude.

Zuko ends up proving that there is in fact much good in him, that he’s human and makes mistakes and shows that he's learned from them and works to right his wrongs, making the necessary sacrifices, even if in some cases he can be a bit socially awkward in doing so.

Current Characters in Route: None, but this would be my second time playing Yusuke at Route, if I were to be accepted! I've canon-updated him since last time, but because of how much time has passed between then and now and how little time he'd spent here before I sort of, uh, dropped off the face of the planet without warning (sorry!), he will not be returning with any memories of having been here previously. (I am The Yusuke-mun Formerly Known As Silver, using a different name this time around so as to avoid any potential confusion with the Silver already here. ~there can be only one~ etc.)

Character
Name: Yusuke Urameshi
Series: Yu Yu Hakusho
Timeline: Mid-season 3, at the beginning of episode 81 ("Let The Games Begin” / “Dōkutsu no Naka no Gēmu Wārudo").
Canon Resource Links:
▶ Yusuke's profile at the Yu Yu Hakusho wikia and his profile blurb on Wikipedia. Please be aware that both of these links, ESPECIALLY THE WIKIA LINK, contain MASSIVE SPOILERS for both Yusuke's character arc and for the series itself!
Here is an alternative profile for Yusuke which, at the cost of being considerably less comprehensive, does not have spoilers.
▶ The wikipedia entry for the series itself.
▶ And just for fun, some TV Tropes! Because Yu Yu Hakusho is pretty troperific.

Note that the passage of time in Yu Yu Hakusho is generally a bit unclear, making it difficult to gauge Yusuke's exact age. He is fourteen at the beginning of the series and eighteen by the end, however, so because the fourth arc, which follows the one which I've taken him from, takes place over the course of two years, I've estimated him to be fifteen going on sixteen.

Personality:
Oh, Yusuke is just darling.

… okay, yeah, that's a lie. Just as one might expect from a fifteen-year-old hoodlum with a reputation for being the toughest kid both at school and on the street, Yusuke Urameshi is, to put it succinctly, a jerk. Rude, rambunctious, and quick to launch a barrage of smart-alecky remarks at anyone who so much as looks at him funny, Yusuke leaves little room for questions as to why a lot of people find him off-putting, and the fact that he has a hair-trigger temper and a violent streak to match doesn't exactly add to the mystique. His predisposition towards thinking with his fists and asking questions later gets him into trouble a lot, especially with authority figures, and though many have tried reeling him in and making him respectable (in the classic “goody-two-shoes” sort of way), almost all have run smack into the titanium wall that is Yusuke's Attitude Problem – which is to say, they've been met with a lot of resistance, resistance which, for Yusuke, often manifests itself in anything from digging his heels in and talking back to just outright dismissal. Yes, much like a hurricane, Yusuke does what Yusuke wants to do, and he has no qualms about bowling over anyone who gets in his way; depending on who they are and what the situation is, he might even give 'em a black eye as a friendly reminder not to do it again. Fond of intimidation tactics? You bet he is!

That isn't the least of what makes him a pain to deal with, either: as if the fighting and the borderline anti-social behavior weren't bad enough, Yusuke is also arrogant as hell. Blame it on an over-abundance of teenage testosterone, if you'd like; it seems that no matter how many times overestimating his own abilities has screwed him over in the past, Yusuke still somehow manages to retain a knack for swaggering into potentially dangerous situations and undermining the severity of said situation, either by antagonizing the source of the danger or cracking jokes in the heat of the action. Of course, to be fair, it could be argued that some of this is a defense mechanism on his part: when the population of nine foot tall demons and whack-a-doodle psychics and aspiring conquerors of the world is seemingly so high that you barely have time for a pee break in between having to fight all of them, you eventually learn that a sense of humor is useful for not totally losing your mind. That said, it's inarguable that the majority of this behavior, joking around and all, stems from sheer short-sightedness on his part, and his enormous carelessness when it comes to his own self-preservation and his subsequent tendency to go leaping right into the eye of the proverbial storm without a set plan or strategy often results in serious injuries to his person as well as the situation becoming exponentially worse than it may have been otherwise. This tendency of his to be a reckless idiot is exacerbated further by his anger issues: it isn't difficult to figure out which buttons to press to make Yusuke lash out, so when someone, say, threatens his friends or gives him a Hannibal Lecture or puts the world in jeopardy to pursue their own stupid, Freudian excuse-laden agenda, it's almost inevitable that Yusuke will come at them ready to totally decimate them, with not a second spared for figuring out how exactly he'll do so.

Unsurprisingly, this kind of impulsiveness has also presented problems for him socially, but it does not do so in the same way that it does when he's in the middle of a brawl. The difference is in the situation itself: you see, when Yusuke's fighting, he is (almost) completely in his element. Yeah, he might screw up the first half of a big balls-to-the-wall battle with the Big Bad by being a dummy and not minding his tail as much as he ought to be, but if there's anything you can say about Yusuke when he's fighting, it's that he knows how to turn the situation on its head and pull through in the end – to such an extent that that many would say it's indicative of a hidden strategic genius. This is not the case in relation to dealing with people outside the ring. Don't get confused: Yusuke's problem is not social awkwardness, nor is it some innate shyness that he's trying to ~cover up~ by acting all big and tough. What it is is a classic case of “bull in a china shop”, meaning that the way in which Yusuke interacts with other people is generally – well, indelicate, to say the least.

Naturally, this does not mean that Yusuke is entirely incapable of sensitivity; what it does mean, however, is that the abrasiveness of his communication style often tends to either hurt feelings or offend people, and given what little filter he has between his brain and his mouth, this comes as no surprise. Of course, in a combat situation, hurting the other party(ies) is the point: unless you're up against some weird dude-turned-Eldritch Abomination whom you can't damage without getting creative about it ('sup, Toguro?), you're accomplishing your intended goal if you're landing hits, even if you went barreling in there without a set plan of attack. Short-sightedness in a social situation, on the other hand, rarely provides good results, and while it would be giving Yusuke way too much credit to try and claim that all of the social faux pas he commits are done without thinking about it (because seriously, he really is that much of a dillhole), he has a certain je nais se quoi for saying things he doesn't always mean. It could be said that, to some extent, Yusuke just doesn't know when to stop fighting - which, of course, is fine if he's around someone who's able to handle it, but not so much if the other party is unprepared or ill-equipped to deal with his obnoxiousness.

Like any good shounen animanga protagonist, though, Yusuke isn't nearly as bad as he seems – in fact, if you were to disregard the fighting and the lousy attitude, you'd find that his reputation back home makes him sound a lot worse than he actually is. Sure, he skips classes to go smoke on the roof of the school and gets into lots of fights and doesn't have much respect for anyone, but contrary to what people say about him, he's not a gang leader, he doesn't hit people just for looking at him, and he doesn't kill for fun. Even his childhood friend-slash-love interest Keiko, whom he butts heads with fairly regularly, makes the comment that he's no where near being the awful, dangerous, malicious sort of person that everyone claims he is, and given all the history between them and all the shit he pulls with her – arguing with her and blowing her off when she tries to help him, sexually harassing her as a form of pigtail-pulling (because flirting like a normal person – or at least like someone who isn't a jackass – is just so difficult) – it's safe to say that her testimony to how misunderstood he is is perhaps the most valid one could get. (See also: reasons why Keiko Yukimura is lightyears out of Yusuke's league.)

While he wouldn't say so in as many words (or at all, really – hey, if he could talk about his feelings rather than building up walls around them and taking things out on other people, he'd probably have less issues), the unnecessarily bad rap he's gotten from people both his age and older has severely hampered his ability to make friends and relate to others in a positive way, and tough-talking street fighter or not, one musn't forget or disregard just how young Yusuke is. No young person – no child, even – likes to feel alienated by the people around them, and while it's true that Yusuke has difficulty taking responsibility for his own emotions (instead channeling it into the World's Largest Shoulder Chip and retaliating against everything that's ever hurt him by becoming a tempermental, rebellious little asshole), it's unrealistic to expect him to have been born with the emotional maturity needed to deal with having his name unfairly dragged through the mud, even if his bitterness over being mistreated and having life give him the finger is something that he's forced to overcome over the course of the series. This is especially true when one takes into consideration just how much of this bullying has happened at the hands of adults – namely, the teachers at his school who, rather than take an interest in his well-being and encourage him to do better (as the school principal, Takenaka, seems to do), instead embark on a bizarre crusade to eliminate his presence from the school entirely, even going as far as celebrating when they find out about his death at the beginning of the series. Keep in mind, these are grown-ups targeting a (at the time) fourteen-year-old boy; regardless of how badly Yusuke acts, they should at least know better than to wish death on him. Seeing as they do not, however, and are shown to make a habit out of terrorizing other students as well, it is perhaps not terribly inappropriate to speculate that they are at least part of the reason why Yusuke doesn't have much respect for authority: given that he's made reference to “people in power never doing anything to help” at least once, it can be assumed that his disrespect largely stems from a lack of faith in their effectiveness, and well, when it comes to teachers who get their jollies gunning after troubled teenagers in need of just as much guidance as they do a big kick in the ass, ineffectiveness is the least of what one could accuse them of.

What is more, Yusuke also has had to deal with the stigma, stress, and emotional baggage from having been brought up by a single, negligent, alcoholic mother. To be clear, the rift in his relationship with his mom is not caused by a lack of affection: she cares enough about him to totally fall apart when he dies, and he cares enough about her in turn to almost slug his teacher when they talk badly about her. It's just that she's so hopelessly irresponsible that Yusuke seems to have to take care of her more than the other way around, making her coffee when she's hungover and consoling her during drunken crying jags (albeit in a kind of “aw geez mom, really?” sort of way), and when we see their old house during the first couple of episodes, it's covered head-to-toe in trash - the implication being that Atsuko's drinking problem has taken precedence over not letting their living space turn into a gigantic germ magnet. So given the instability and lack of sufficent support both at home and at school, it comes as no surprise that, despite his age, he has a pretty jaded outlook on life when we first meet him at the beginning of the series – so jaded, in fact, that when he dies unexpectedly whilst saving a child from getting run down by a car in the first episode, he initially refuses an offer from the Spirit World to regain his life back, citing – with an alarming amount of nonchalance – his belief that no one would miss him if he did.

Of course, this changes once he's persuaded to visit his wake: upon seeing the people he cared about mourning his death and being shocked by how much he meant to them, Yusuke decides that returning to the living world would be worthwhile after all, and when he does, it's with a new appreciation for life as well as for the people around him. It's this loyalty to his family, friends and allies that is, hands-down, one of Yusuke's greatest strengths. Yeah, so his status as a student of the School of Tough Love makes him more inclined to let people know he likes them through rough-housing and sparring and occasionally mean-spirited teasing rather than through “mushy stuff” like, you know, regularly saying nice things to them without being sarcastic, but it's hard to deny just how important Yusuke's friends are to him, even if he does act like kind of a butthead towards them. The times throughout the series in which we see Yusuke genuinely distraught almost always occur when someone close to him is in danger, and it is also during these times that he demonstrates the lengths to which he'll go to keep them safe or, in some cases, avenge them – namely, by risking his life kicking the utter shit out of whichever bad guy's the culprit. Taking this into consideration, it wouldn't be an exaggeration at all to say that Yusuke feels responsible for the safety of his loved ones, and not because he's got some weird hero complex brought on by his designated role as Defender of the World, either: even if a member of his rag-tag gang of buddies can take care of themselves just fine (and the majority of them can), Yusuke'll still make a point of swooping in and dusting them off once they're done kicking enemy tail, both as a way of supporting them as well as a way of making sure they've come out of it in one piece.

Character
Name: Namsoon Go
Series: School 2013
Timeline: Post-series
Canon Resource Links: This website provides episode recaps; however, to save you the trouble of having to read it, I’ll summarize the relevant parts here, since Namsoon’s storyline isn’t the only one School 2013 follows. I’m leaving out some of the less relevant details because it’s already super long! I’ve used the Korean name-order (last name - first name) in the history, since that’s how it’s commonly found on the Internet.

Namsoon’s childhood wasn’t the best -- his mother died; his father, an alcoholic -- but he found happiness in his best friend, Park Heungsoo. They’d made fast friends because of all the ways they were similar (difficult family situations, being ostracized by the rest of the kids for being really tall, not being good at learning), and it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that they were each others’ most important person in ways deeper than just best friends: they were each others’ family, their lifeline, the person that they would have trusted no matter what the circumstance.

Throughout elementary school, they passed their time together doing the usual reckless stuff kids do. It wasn’t until middle school that reckless took a turn straight into dangerous, and both of them joined a local gang. Namsoon in particular had a certain amount of infamy, known as the “Typhoon of Gyeonggi-do”, the jjang (best fighter) of his city -- Heungsoo was the only one who could keep him out of serious trouble, holding him back when he was going too far.

Heungsoo, though, had a life goal where Namsoon didn’t -- he wanted to be a pro soccer player. And eventually, he was scouted to join a youth team in Seoul. The problem was that to enter and leave the gang, there was a rule that the person had to get beaten up in order to prove their worth to enter, and get beaten up again to break ties. It’s here that things go wrong: Namsoon pushes a little too hard, and accidentally injures Heungsoo’s leg to the point of permanent injury, landing him in the hospital and shattering Heungsoo’s only dream. Too afraid of confronting Heungsoo face-to-face -- scared to lose the person who mattered most to him -- Namsoon ran away from his problems, shutting himself away from everything and sinking into depression. He refused to leave his apartment, and dropped out of his last year of middle school.

Time passes. Namsoon and his father move to Seoul, and he takes a certification to enter high school. He becomes a student at Seungri High School, where he passes his first year quietly and solitary, not making an effort to make any friends, never resisting whenever the school bullies beat him up, a fairly common occurrence. On his own time, he works part-time as a delivery boy. It isn’t until he enters his second year, when School 2013 begins, that things begin to change.

The first shift is this: thanks to class bully Oh Jongho, he ends up getting elected class president, a role he’s really completely unfitted to. The second is this: for the first time, he stands up for somebody else. When Jongho turned his attention to Youngwoo, a mentally impaired student, Namsoon defends Youngwoo in front of the class and ends up (unsurprisingly) beaten up for it.

For a while, we start to see Namsoon start trying again -- he makes friends with Youngwoo and makes an attempt to help out his beleaguered homeroom teacher, Jung Injae, in managing their class (which is known as the worst class in one of Seoul’s worst high schools). He doesn’t get along well with their second homeroom teacher Kang Sechan -- probably because their beliefs are in direct contrast with each other -- but mostly, he goes on with life as he does, trying to avoid conflict when he can. He occasionally crosses paths other students, sometimes even offering them advice and an ear for listening to, but for the most part remains distant.

The biggest change comes when Heungsoo transfers into Seungri High School. Ironically, the rumors about the “Typhoon of Gyeonggi-do” have gotten mixed up -- apparently, people think it’s actually Heungsoo, not Namsoon. Any sort of progress Namsoon’s managed to make in moving on with his life is pretty much sunk, and he attempts to alleviate some of his guilt by shuttling for Heungsoo, which 1. Heungsoo flatly rejects, and 2. causes some uproar in the class, as Namsoon never gave into the class bullies before -- he let himself get beaten up, but never once performed any act of subservience.

Heungsoo, naturally, is not very happy at this turn of events; no matter what Namsoon does to appease him, he rejects it. Which is understandable, of course, since Namsoon never actually apologized for breaking his leg before.

Meanwhile, class bully Jongho has figured some important facts out:

1. Namsoon’s weakness is Heungsoo.
2. The Typhoon of Gyeonggi-do is actually Namsoon, not Heungsoo.

He takes this opportunity to lure both Heungsoo and Namsoon out for a fight to reestablish his position as top bully of the school (not that either Heungsoo nor Namsoon were challenging it in the first place), but is surprised when Namsoon goes Crouching Moron Hidden Badass on him and his lackey, single-handedly beating the crap out of them. But before he can go too far, the police and their homeroom teachers show up to break it up. Luckily, the teachers bail all of them out of any serious trouble.

For a while, Namsoon is pretty much led around by his lingering guilt over what he did to Heungsoo -- he buys Heungsoo the required textbooks (Heungsoo rejects them), he almost lets himself get blackmailed into stealing an answer key by Jongho because of his guilt (fortunately, he thinks of a way out of it), so on and so forth. An inquiry is passed around the school over bullying, and it turns out the class has misinterpreted this as Heungsoo bullying Namsoon, and is in danger of being expelled over it.

Namsoon confronts Heungsoo about it after school, but Heungsoo rebuffs his concern. The next day, when Teacher Jung is leading a class on writing narratives and asks for student examples, Namsoon clears up the misperception by raising his hand to explain the truth through a “narrative”:
“To be a soccer player was his dream. To continue the path to being a soccer player, the coach told him he had to quit fighting with his gang. The jjang told him he had to get jumped out to leave. So he got beat up and hurt his leg and collapsed. The jjang is a bastard who trampled his dream. And that bastard is Go Namsoon. Therefore, Park Heungsoo has done nothing wrong.”

The school board decides not to expel Heungsoo; however, Heungsoo wants to leave school anyway. Later that day, Namsoon confronts Heungsoo again, telling him that he has to graduate, leading up to this conversation:
Namsoon: “Why do you use me as your excuse to run away, you punk?”
Heungsoo: “Yeah, I’m running away. It makes me sick, seeing the face of the guy who ruined my life -- just seeing you makes me think of my leg, and I can’t stand it. So I’m running.”
Namsoon: “So come out and get your revenge.”
Heungsoo: Do you even have anything that was like soccer to me? If there is, say so. Try throwing away the thing that’s most important to you. Then I’ll believe you mean all this crap you’re spouting. Throw it away, and I’ll go to school.”

The next day, Namsoon turns in a form to drop out of school. As he leaves, the conversation continues:
Heungsoo: “That’s all? School? That’s kind of weak. Don’t you have anything bigger?”
Namsoon: “Do you think what I gave up right now was school? What I threw away wasn’t school. It was you.”

He walks away in tears. It is so much more heartrending than I’m making it sound.

However, here’s where the turning point comes: after that, pretty much everything and everybody seems to conspire to push them back together, whether indirectly or directly. Jongho, still pissed off over getting beaten by them, tries to get his revenge by telling the local mafia they’d stolen something -- only to push them together when they’re forced to team up against a common enemy. Both their teachers actively attempt to get them to make up -- they refuse to accept Namsoon’s drop-out form, because he doesn’t have a parent signature, and Heungsoo eventually tells him to just come back to school. When both of them get punished by having to do school service, Teacher Kang makes them clean together.

The first major change comes when they accidentally get locked in a storage shed together during midterm testing -- Heungsoo had snuck out to destress between tests, Namsoon had showed up, and the school’s groundskeeper had showed up to lock it up with both of them still in it. Words are exchanged and for the first time, Namsoon finally manages to apologize:
Namsoon: “It was [still] my mistake. I wronged you.”
Heungsoo: “If it was an accident, if it was your mistake. What does that change?”
Namsoon: “That’s why. Because nothing changes. Because this isn’t something that’ll change just by trying -- that’s why I’m sorry, you bastard. I’m so sorry that I wish I could just die. I’m so sorry I can’t even say the words I’m sorry --”

Heungsoo punches him in the face. Namsoon tells him he should have done this from the beginning, and actually asks for more. Heungsoo snaps, and ends up pushing Namsoon straight into a pile of stacked-up desks, which topples, burying him underneath and knocking him unconscious -- Heungsoo immediately panics, losing his cool and starts screaming for help. Fortunately, Namsoon comes to, and having seen that Heungsoo still cares is, perhaps, why he admits the reason he couldn’t apologize earlier: “I was scared of you abandoning me... because I thought you’d throw me away for good. That you’d say you’d never see a bastard like me again. Because all I had was you. If I heard those words coming from your mouth, then I’d have nowhere to go.”

Not long after that, the local mafia go after them again. Namsoon decides to sacrifice himself and let them beat him up, so that they’ll leave Heungsoo alone. Heungsoo figures it out, but not until after it’s already happened, and confronts him about it:
Heungsoo: “Do you think acting like this will make my leg better? Will I be able to play soccer again?”
Namsoon: “What am I supposed to do? I can’t pretend not to know [what I did], and I can’t take it back.”
Heungsoo: “You should have just been there from the start. No matter what! You should have just stayed there. All I had besides soccer was you -- and when soccer was gone and I wanted to die, you should have just been there, you bastard. So what I’m saying is, didn’t you miss me?”

They are both legit in tears standing in a snow-covered street and again, it is 1000% more heartrending than I can explain in words. They’re still not quite made up yet, though, because Heungsoo asks if they can’t just forget about it and move on -- separately.

Not long after that, the two homeroom teachers discover that Namsoon has to be transferred: the academic system has a policy of not putting a bully and the bully’s victim in the same school. Namsoon asks them to keep it a secret from Heungsoo so he can leave quietly, but in a ploy to finally get them to reconcile once and for all, Teacher Kang -- still in charge of their community service -- continues their joint punishment by forcing them to copy pages out of their textbook, then telling them that they can get out of the punishment by playing a round of basketball: for each basket, he’ll take off a few pages. At the end of the impromptu one-on-one match, Teacher Kang gives away the secret: “Park Heungsoo, what will you do when Go Namsoon is transferred?”

For a while, it seems like the transfer is destined to go through -- but on the day that Namsoon is called in to finalize the details, Teacher Kang goads Heungsoo again: “Heungsoo, have you ever seen an assailant and their victim playing basketball together?”

As it must be in dramas, Heungsoo bursts into the office just as Namsoon is about to sign the forms and tells the head teacher, “I’m not a victim. And Go Namsoon isn’t an assailant. We’re just friends who were unlucky... and now, we’re in the middle of working it out.”

For their friendship, it’s pretty much smooth sailing from then on. They still have their awkward moments, of trying to figure out how they can be best friends again, but for the most part, they’ve finally resolved their old issues and are looking forward again. We see them hanging out more, eating in restaurants together, play-fighting, reading manhwa and joking around -- Namsoon realizes that the guilt never goes away, but it gets easier to bear.

That’s not quite the end of Namsoon’s part in the drama, though. One of last storylines introduced in the drama centers around the school bully Oh Jongho. His two lackeys (having already realized the wrong path they’re going down) try to help him reform, recruiting Namsoon’s and Heungsoo’s help, even though neither of them seem particularly thrilled by the job they’ve been pulled into. It’s revealed during this storyline that Heungsoo’s basically moved in with Namsoon, and they’re the ones who offer Jongho a place to stay when his abusive father lands him in the hospital.

School 2013 ends with the end of the school year -- after the homeroom teachers let them go for the last time as second year students, Namsoon and Heungsoo go to the roof of the school, staring up at the sky together as they both decide to start thinking about the future from then on.

I should note that I only went over his main storyline and Jongho’s storyline, because he plays an important role in both of them. Namsoon also definitely plays a part in almost all the other storylines as well! Notably, he has friendships with Song Hakyung and Lee Kangjoo (their storyline is main about the stress that academics and competitiveness on getting into college can put on a friendship) and helps them out sometimes -- for example, he often hears them out when either of them are worrying, once carried Hakyung to the infirmary after she’d collapsed taking study drugs, and has taken care of them both when they needed help. He also is involved in Jung Injae and Kang Sechan’s storyline on what it means to be a teacher. The last one he plays enough of a role in to mention is Minki’s storyline, about how the pressure to succeed can break people -- Namsoon helps protect and advise him when there are bad rumors about Minki cheating, and is there when Minki almost commits suicide by jumping off the school roof. But if I went into all of it, this would be even longer than it already is, so I’ve left it out because it’s not immediately relevant to shaping him as a person.

“The first time I read the script for episode 1, I couldn’t grasp his character tangibly. [...] He has no expressions and no desire for friends; when Jong-Ho confronts him, he just gives him money or lets himself be beaten up, then suddenly Heungsoo helps him. No matter how you look at it, Namsoon is like a child with no emotions.” -- Lee Jongsuk, Namsoon’s actor

“If it was an accident, if it was your mistake. What does that change?”
“That’s why. Because nothing changes. Because this isn’t something that’ll change just by trying -- that’s why I’m sorry, you bastard. I’m so sorry that I wish I could just die.

When Namsoon is first introduced, he’s surprisingly passive for a main character, so reserved that he seems almost emotionless -- like he’s merely going through the motions of living, always taking the path of least resistance, never fighting back even as he’s being harrassed or beaten up. It’s not until later that the viewer realizes why this is: Namsoon’s mind is weighed down by guilt, so heavily that it consumes the rest of his feelings. In his own way, he seems to be trying to repent for his past actions. He doesn’t ever speak up for himself when he’s being wronged, although he’ll stand up for other people who are. He doesn’t ask others for help, but he gives others help when it seems like others need it. He seems to purposely shy away from people who want to be his friends, never letting people get too close, almost as if he’s scared of doing them same to them that he did to Heungsoo in the past.

In stark contrast to that, though, we see in flashbacks that Namsoon was totally different before the accident flashbacks: in the past, Namsoon was vivacious; he lived life freely and without worries about consequences. In a way, he kind of had that rebellious, bad boy charm to him; he laughed easily and didn’t follow the rules or anybody else’s expectations if he didn’t want to -- to the point where the possibility that he might get arrested by the police was a serious concern.

The fact that his personality does such a complete 180 shows exactly how important Heungsoo as a person is to Namsoon: there was (and still is) literally nothing that he fears more than being rejected by Heungsoo as a friend. Heungsoo is, to him, family and best friend and soulmate all wrapped up in one person -- the fact that he crushed Heungsoo’s dream and permanently injured him is something that he’ll never get over, and the main reason he dislikes using force. The only times he’s seen fighting in-series is to defend Heungsoo, and he repeatedly shows he would rather let himself get beaten up than fight against people he might have a chance of winning against.

“After figuring out his relationship with Heungsoo, he’ll be able to lay down a heavy burden, and hopefully live out his life with lots of happiness.” -- Lee Jongsuk

By the end of the series, Namsoon isn’t consumed with guilt like he was at the beginning, nor is he the bright, lively person he was before the accident -- he’s somewhere in-between. Making up with Heungsoo has allowed him to move on with his life: although he acknowledges that he’ll probably always feel sorry for what he did, he’s managed to get to the point where he lets himself feel other emotions and actively reach out to others as friends.

This includes rediscovering a bit of his sassy side! He tends to call things as it is in a blunt. matter-of-fact way, and expresses his annoyance with things in a pretty amusing way. He sometimes lightly teases/poke fun at people, but usually only people he knows well enough to be comfortable doing so.

Strengths/Weaknesses:

+ street-smart! He’s good at thinking on his feet.
+ he’s good at fighting and leading when he needs to, but he really prefers not to do those things anymore.
+ he’s especially kind to people who are in need.
+ he’s not easily ruffled or angered, and doesn’t respond to provocations -- in-series, the only time he’s seen getting mad or losing his cool is in flashbacks.
+ a hard worker: he’s been keeping up with part-time jobs for at least two years now.

- on the flip-side to being street-smart, he’s book dumb. To the point where when he actually tries to answer correctly on a test instead of filling out a column of A’s, he somehow does worse. He acknowledges that traditional education is not well-suited to him, and prefers to put his efforts elsewhere.
- reserved to the point of apathy at times. The only people he actively cares about are his friends, which isn’t to say he doesn’t care about others, just that he won’t go out of his way to help them if they aren’t asking for help.
- emotionally dependent on Heungsoo, although less so now than before.
- he helps himself last every time. It’s less about selflessness so much as it is him not valuing himself.

[ When the video feed clicks on, Namsoon looks rather ruffled up -- his clothes are all askew, and there are signs of a bruise beginning to purple on his right cheek. ]

I have a question. The Pokémon we’re partnered with... they aren’t supposed to attack you, right? [ there’s a pause, and then a sigh -- ] I don’t think it meant to, but it was very -- enthusiastic, when I let it out of its ball. They’re pretty strong, aren’t they? Even though they’re so small.

[ For a few moments, he seems to zone out, staring blankly and not saying anything. Rather abruptly, though, he snaps out of it after half a minute or so: ] Do they really enjoy fighting? And do we have to battle them?

Third Person Sample:

After the fourth person had approached him asking for a battle, repeating the same canned phrases over and over again as he’d attempted to turn them down, Namsoon finally accepted it: he was either going to have to battle or go bankrupt from running away so often. He didn’t mind living penniless -- he was used to that -- but he felt a twinge of guilt at forcing his new partner into a life of poverty along with him. Still, he didn’t feel great about making his new partner fight to avoid said life of poverty, either. There was something about it that didn’t feel right, and Namsoon couldn’t help but make a mental comparison dogfights when he thought of battling his Pokémon. To him, it seemed to come down to the lesser of two bads: go broke running away from battles, leaving him incapable of properly caring for his Meinfoo; or let his Meinfoo battle, and risk getting hurt.

Before going any further down Route 29, he decided to settle it once and for all -- he called his Meinfoo out of its PokéBall, sitting down to get on eye-to-eye level with it. “About fighting other Pokémon -- you’re sure you want to?” Namsoon asked, even though he wasn’t completely sure that the Pokémon could even understand him. “It doesn’t bother you at all?”

The Meinfoo, though, met his gaze squarely, making a few noises before nodding: a clear affirmation.

“I guess if it’s okay with you,” Namsoon said hesitantly, as if trying to convince himself. “Then we’ll battle the next Trainer that challenges us, I guess.”

His Meinfoo seemed pleased by the decision despite its Trainer’s reservations -- maybe even a little excited at finally getting to fight properly. With a rather enthusiastic cry, it bounded forward, leaving Namsoon to quickly get up and scramble after it before it ran too far into the tall grass.

Character
Name: Link
Series: Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
Timeline: post-game
Canon Resource Links:
Here
Here

Personality: In many ways, Link shares similarites from his other counterparts. He's kind, selfless, friendly, and optimistic. He strives to help others no matter what, even if he dosent get a reward in return. As long as he's helping someone, even a complete stranger, he's happy. And like his counterparts, the most defining characterstic about him is his courage. No matter how powerful the opponent or how grave the danger, Link never shows any sign of cowardice. This is best exemplified by his willingness to be the Hero of Winds. Though he initialy ventured out to rescue his sister, once he learned of his destiny, he quickly took the role without hesitation.

However he differs from his counterparts in ways as well. Despite not being much of a talker, he's very expressive. Reading his thoughts is easy as reading his facial expressions or his body language. When he kills a boss, he leaps with joy. When he finds good treasure, he's estatic. When he's falling (or his pants are on fire), he screams and flails around in fright. When he's drinking Chu Jelly, he scrunges his face and chucks it down. When sneaking around a fortress, it looks very cartoonish. Whatever he's thinking shows.

His biggest characteristic, however, is his love for his family, particularly Aryll. Link is, for all intents and purposes, the best big brother you'd ever see. He gets along great with his sister and his very protective of her. When Aryll was kidnapped by the Helmroc King, Link immediately rushed to the rescue, not realizing that he was about to fall off a cliff. And may God help anyone who even thinks of harming her. Link's inital reason for venturing out to the Great Sea was solely to bring Aryll home.

However, as he travels the Great Sea, he begins to mature. He goes from a dopey island kid, to the Hero of Winds. He endures many hardships, learns to use various weapons and gadgets, seen others seperate from their loved ones to fufill their destines, and by the end of the game he knows what he has to do and does it with no complaints.

Link is not without his faults however. He's very easygoing and somewhat lazy. Odds are, if he's not helping others, he's usually snoozing. Because he's a kid, it's very easy to manipulate him into things. Though he knows what's right and wrong, he still comes off as a bit too trusting. Link is also very high strung and it's easy to startle him. He also seems a bit spoiled as he protested (made a face) at wearing the hero's tunic, though he put it on anyway.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
Strengths
* Is skilled in swordplay.
* Can use various weapons and gadgets.
* Is quite athletic for his size, able to leap great heights ,and even without his Power bracelets, carry a person his size with little effort.
* Adept at puzzle solving.
* Excellent at mapmaking and sailing.

Weaknesses
* His expressive face makes it hard to hide his thoughts.
* He's used to fighting his own battles and will need time to adjust to the Pokemon here.
* Can be easily manipulated due to his young age.
* Because of his light frame, a strong enough blow can knock him out.
* While his willpower and courage are admirable, they can also make him very reckless.
* His education is limited to whatever his Grandma saw fit to teach him. He knows how to read and write, but other skills like math are basic. Also, since the closest thing to modern technology is a sailboat, anything beyond that will fly over his head. It's best to tell him it's just magic.

Items
Because Link is known to carry a lot of gadgets, and this game's rule about weapons. The only items he'll have on him are:
* His Deluxe Picto Box.
* His telescope.
* His grappling hook and hookshot (for climbing purposes only)
* His Boomerang.
* 5 bottles of Chu Jelly.
* His island outfit.
If this is not okay, then feel free to nerf this as you will.

[The feed clicks on to reveal a blond haired boy with very large eyes. He's dressed in a green tunic with white pants and brown boots. From the look of it, he's barely thirteen. He fiddles with the Pokedex for a few moments before realizing it's on video. The boy finally speaks.]

Hoy. I'm not sure if I'm using this right, but my name's Link. Has anyone seen a girl named Tetra? She's about my age. This is what she looks like.

[He then pulls out a picture of a blond-haired girl.]

She also looks like this:

[He pulls out another picture of a princess.]

When she looks like this, she goes by the name Zelda. If you see her, please let her know I'm looking for her. Thank you.

Third Person Sample:
A groan escaped Link's lips as conciousness slowly returned to him. When he finally opened his eyes, he awoke to find himself in a town of some sorts. He came to two immediate conclusions: He wasn't in the Great Sea, and he wasn't in Hyrule. That's when panic began to settle in. Where was Tetra?! Where was Aryll?! Where was the King of Red Lions?! And where was he for that matter?! He reached behind him to grab his sword only to find... he didn't have his sword. For that matter, he didn't have his shield. Link reached in his pockets to find that the only items he had where his Picto Box and telescope. Who took his stuff?

His thoughts were interuptted by a squawk from behind. Link turned around to find that there was a seagull-like creature behind him. At first, Link thought it was a monster of some sorts, but it made no move to attack. Instead it jumped right on his shoulder and perched itself there. It seemed friendly enough, and in a way it reminded him of Aryll. In fact, he decided to name it Aryll. Link then wandered around the village to find information about this place. Apparently this world had friendly creatures called Pokemon that people used to battle others and gain badges. Link didn't know the first thing about Pokemon battles, but it seemed fun. Having some time to kill, Link decided to spend the day in the best way he could: helping others and making friends. And so Link spent the entire day helping the people in town with their problems. Once the day was over, Link settled into a house and went to sleep. Tommorow he'd set out to explore the rest of this place. And who knows? With some luck, Tetra and Aryll might be here.

Character
Name: Barby
Series: Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt
Timeline: Post-Episode 2: The Turmoil of the Beehive
Canon Resource Links:
-Barby
-The series
-Daten City (the setting)

Personality: Barby is, to put things bluntly, a huge snob. Her character design, personality, and mannerisms are all based off of the mean, rich, blonde, and popular cheerleader character type we've seen in pretty much every single high school movie ever made. However, while she is a reference (if not an outright parody) of this character type, the queen bee still stands out as her own character thanks to a variety of things, including a few subversions to the common character type.

Unlike most "popular girl types" who merely act like they rule the school, Barby actually does. She has more power over the student body than the teachers and principal, and even gets carried down the halls like an empress, complete with the student body going out in the hallways to admire and even "worship" her. While it's never shown how she came to power, one could imagine her good looks and charisma allowed her to woo the easily-swayed minds of her fellow students.

Thanks to her life being filled with praise and worship, the blonde has developed an ego about the size of the planet itself. She expects people to submit to her will without hesitation and to do as she commands without a second thought. When someone comes along who refuses to submit to her, or if they simply do something to anger her (and she does have a bit of a short temper), Barby forms a massive grudge against the person who offended her. Once a grudge has been formed, she won't stop until either the offender gets cut down to size, learns their place, or their social reputation is completely and utterly ruined in the eyes of their peers...

Of course, she's also not above getting rid of the person permanently, but that's more of a last resort.

An interesting thing to note is that her personality didn't change at all despite becoming a ghost. Barby was able to continue her rule without suspicion, and unlike most ghosts in the series, she wasn't actively violent towards humans. Her main goal in life was the same in death; to maintain control of the school. While it was stated in-canon that several students had gone missing, it's entirely possible that Barby got rid of them because they refused to submit to her demands, as she wasn't shown being attacking any members of the student body until all other methods of control had been exhausted, thanks to the Anarchy Sisters stealing her spotlight.

While Barby is indeed an incredibly vain indivual, it's been shown in canon that she has no problems with taking care of the person she holds a grudge against by herself, meaning she doesn't mind getting her hands dirty so long as the pay-off is worth it. Unfortunately, every single attempt she tried to best the Anarchy Sisters ended in failure, serving to either enrage her further or to make her seem less and less important until finally she was "replaced" by the two angels, which caused her to flip out.

To sum everything up, Barby is a character who is used to being praised and admired constantly. She needs people to worship. When they don't, she flips out and becomes extremely jealous if another indivual is stealing "her" spotlight and does whatever it takes to bring them down and herself back up. It's not known why she's like this, but it seems very likely that she believes she deserves all the attention because she's just that good. Hell, in canon she even went as far as to call herself a goddess. Ego the size of a planet indeed.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
+ Charismatic
+ Determined
+ A decent leader
+ Fairly clever
+ Athletic
+ Has no problems doing her own work
- Rude
- Full of herself
- Overconfident
- Prone to holding grudges
- Short-tempered
- Annoying
- Vain
- A horrible person in general

[Anyone watching the Team Rocket feed would be greeted with a very large and angry-looking purple eye pressed up against the camera. It twitches for a few seconds, before the owner finally peels her face off of the camera, revealing the started of this "message" to be a young blonde-haired woman. A young blonde-haired woman who looks like she could murder someone.]

I don't know who designed this uniform or who they think they are, but believe me when I say they have NO taste in fashion whatsoever! I mean just look at this outfit!

[Barby turns the camera downwards to get a full glimpse of the Rocket uniform with her gesture towards it, even though everyone already watching the feed would already know what it looks like.]

It's hideous! You expect a queen like me to wear this gaudy thing? Uh-uh, not going to happen! I demand an outfit worthy of my tastes right this instant! Otherwise I'll be seeing myself out of this little establishment. So chop, chop!

[And with that, she shuts the feed off and awaits her new outfit.

...unsurprisingly, it never shows up. The nerve of some people!]

Third Person Sample:
Alright, so roughly two weeks had passed since her stupid training back at the Goldenrod Base. Despite her protests, she was forced to wear that damned outfit all throughout the pointless training. Honestly, the very thought of wearing that bloody thing was demeaning, but it's not like she had much of a choice. For now at least.

On the bright side of things, now that her training was done she was finally out of that base and dressed in an outfit worthy of her supposed status. Sitting down on on of the armchairs in the Pokémon Center, arms and legs crossed like a proper lady, Barby began to think. She plotted various ways to get back at that wretched organization, she pondered how she was still alive and why she was human again, and above all else, she wondered what exactly her next move should be. A sigh escaped her lips as her situation started to sink in the more she thought about it, and finally she decided it'd be for the best if she stuck with this team.

A sound cut through her train of thought, causing her to look up at the source of the noise. It was a clock, signaling the new hour. She frowned, noticing it was getting late and it'd probably be for the best if she headed in for the night. So she got up from her chair and headed for the (disgusting) cots...

Only to notice a familiar-looking red light out of the corner of her eyes.

"...not again!"

And the next thing she knew, a giant purple sludge, her second starter, was on top of her. It seemed to have taken a shine to its new trainer, but Barby wanted nothing to do with the smelly thing. "Get off of me you disgusting pile of sludge!"

But it was pointless. The Grimer was still happily hugging the blonde, while she did her best to pry it off of her.

"I SAID GET OFF! THAT'S AN ORDER!"

After a bit of struggling, Barby was finally able to grab her Pokéball from off her belt and activated it, sending the unruly slime back where it belonged. With it gone, she dusted herself off, and walked over to the cots with whatever small tidbit of dignity she could conjure up, shooting death glares at all who dared to stare at her.

Name: Ooji "Mocchi" Mochizou
Series: Tamako Market
Timeline: BY CURRENTLY AIRED EPISODE – (The series is almost done airing. Once it is I will place him at post-series).
Canon Resource Links: His Tamako Market WIKI Page
If this isn’t enough, then I will happily contribute some of my own writing for this section!

Personality:
A first impression of Mochizou would definitely be that of a boy who boasts a daft and dense personality. Upon seeing his childhood friend and crush, Tamako, with a bird on her head… Well, he immediately labels it as a hat and nothing more. It is only when Dela, the bird, actually talks that he recognizes the reality of the situation. Yes. That’s a talking bird. And boy, does he hate it. His hate for Dela is actually farfetched, as his kindness toward others is quite remarkable. Perhaps it is because Dela gets to live with his crush or maybe he just hates talking birds. Either reason is understandable, let’s be honest. Especially when Mochizou is so desperate in regards to Tamako that he actually calls Tamako’s father, “Dad” – A running gag in the show where Tamako’s father yells at him for doing it, prompting a quick and comedic apology from Mochizou each and every time. While he is beyond cordial to everyone in the neighbourhood, his kindness for Tamako is immeasurable. He even goes as far as to offer to abandon his own shop on New Years, the busiest time of year for the mochi business, to help Tamako’s shop meet the demand. It’s all because his heart beats like a drum (dam dam dam, dam dam dam) for his crush. However, he never does make it to Tamako’s shop due to her father’s mindset; “He’s going to steal our mochi secrets!” … That’s not quite the reason he wants to help out, sir.

In the beginning of the series we get a look into just how head-over-heels he is for Tamako. When Mochizou opens his drawer on Tamako’s birthday, it’s shown that there are several gift wrapped presents snuggling together. Did he move his underwear in favour of those presents? Who knows… But it definitely shows us that every year he had planned to give Tamako a present but failed due to his supreme level of embarrassment on the issue. He hides the presents from Tamako. He even hides the presents from the neighbours. He wasn’t able to give Tamako a present this year, either. Oh well, that’s what happens when you’re determined to take your secret to the grave. Unfortunately for you, Mochizou, almost everyone in the neighbourhood is aware of your crush. Sorry, man. At least you’ll always have your cute cup-telephone-line with Tamako. This whole situation gives us a blueprint to the inner workings of his mind and how dedicated of a person he really is. A regular person would return, throw out, or gift the presents to another individual upon failing to give it out as an original intention. Mochizou doesn't do this. He literally holds on to each and every present; perhaps as a reminder to his failures and motivation for the next year to actually go through with it. That's concentrated dedication and he is definitely able to focus that wholeheartedness on other goals in the future.

He will do anything to impress Tamako. During a summer festival he has the job as one of the shrine carriers. It’s a tough job, that’s for sure, but Mochizou gives himself an inner speech! “I’ll show Tamako my shrine carrying skills! I’ll show her how much of a strong and buff man I am!” Then when his father shouts at him to put his back into it, Mochizou just complains about how his shoulders hurt. What a wimp. On top of that, he spent a good five minutes being entirely pissed off at a talking bird only to take that bird’s advice on courtship and request help on confessing to Tamako. Yep, spell it out with me D-E-S-P-E-R-A-T-E. With all that said, Mochizou really does have a tight grip on reality. Even in his imagination he’s a tsundere buffoon. But beyond that, in the end, he decides not to confess to Tamako – fully knowing she doesn’t share the same infatuation that he does. That won’t stop his rampaging feelings for her, though.

In episode nine we get to see how self-sacrificing he is. Despite October 10th being his birthday, he doesn’t really care – instead helping with the mochi shops and trying to cheer up Tamako’s little sister. He doesn’t expect anything for his birthday, and while he’s a little disappointed that no one remembers his birthday, he doesn’t throw a fit about it. During the final moments of the episode, Tamako presents him with a small gift right before his birthday ends and Mochizou bursts into a small fit of happy tears – showing his soft and grateful side.

While a huge part of his character revolves around his dynamic involved with Tamako, it is that exact fact that will make Mochizou so interesting in this new world that he will find himself in. How will his character develop with a lacking of love-involved interactions? Will he maintain his kindness? Will he find himself in situations where his embarrassment takes hold of him? How will his feelings toward Tamako change with that absence? Every character leaves something behind when they enter route_29, and I look forward to developing Mochizou around those vacancies.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
• Mochizou is the son of a mochi maker, and as such, he had to help his father out with the store. He’s obviously skilled at creating the tasty and traditional treat. This may lend a helpful hand to creating delicious and nutritious food for his Pokemon! An important skill for a breeder!
• That said, many-a- time he has abandoned his own shop in favour of helping the rival mochi shop across the street. This is both strength and weakness. While it demonstrates strong kindness for others, it definitely defines how quick he’ll leave his family shop to help his childhood friend and crush. Despite this, if his shop really needed him, he would undoubtedly stay to help his own father.
• He’s a part of the Film Studies Club in his High School. Being in a club in Japan demands dedication and discipline. Beyond that, however, the Film Studies Club demands an ability to analyze plot and characters – In the Pokemon World, it may lend a hand to understanding a Pokemon’s needs. Well, that and making commercials. You know. Film-y stuff.
• His biggest weakness is probably tamako tamako tamako tamako tamako tamako tamako tamako tamako tamako tamako tamako tamako tamako tamako tamako tamako tamako tamako tamako tamako tamako tamako tamako tamako tamako.
• He is quite easy to manipulate. A part of this is due to his kindness for those he’s fond of, another part is due to his dense mannerisms when love is involved. He becomes nervous and lets his secrets slip. He also goes along with stupid plans if it means he may have a chance to get a step closer to confessing his feelings.
• He’s definitely not good at public speaking. When Tamako is nervous about presenting an idea to the neighbourhood to boost sales, Mochizou offers to speak for her… Wanting to look cool and nice. However, this backfires when he attempts to talk and is just as nervous as Tamako. You tried, Mochizou. You tried.

[An image is instantly broadcast through the entire system. With an obnoxious 'blip' followed by a rather deafening 'bam bam bam' it can be concluded that the user of broadcast device is new. Mochizou presses a button - again. Whacks the side of it three times - again. Then, finally, he decides to take a look at it properly.]

Uh. So, yeah. I'm guessing the 3G wherever I am isn't that great? Looks like they put all that juice into broadcasting some weird music... From the sky... The sky?! Seriously?

[Mochizou gives an exasperated sigh. Normally he would be more shocked, but after dealing with a talking chicken for so long, he's a lot more open to accepting the oddities surrounding him. Even as a rather large "pigeon" passes him cooing, 'prrrrdgy, prrrrdgy,' he still thinks that's far more normal than an egotistical crap-face of a talking chicken. Without another second to waste, he lifts a Pokeball up to the screen.]

I'm assuming someone gave me this thinking I would eat it? Well, newsflash, but as someone who has dealt with mochi his whole life, I'm well aware that this isn't mochi. It's just a... Hard ball...

[He inspects it, twitching his nose as if to take in the smell. Perhaps he really isn't confident that it's not mochi. Maybe it's just frozen? Or a new, exotic kind? Who knows. Before he can decide whether he wants to give it a lick or not, his thumb slips and releases a cute lil' Skitty for the whole world to see. It gives a little mew and stretches before affectionately rubbing against Mochizou's leg.]

... Yeah. Okay. No. Not a mochi.

Third Person Sample:
A good hour passes before Mochizou decides to approach the Skitty with a greeting. Despite his hesitation to do any kind of homework back in Japan, he wasn't going to continue on without flipping and scanning through as much information as possible. So, he had settled himself under a tree. No. Not that tree. He had tried that tree but soon found himself under a Spinarak, and he wasn't having that at all. So after a quick, girly yelp he found a different tree - A tree boasting no Spinarak what-so-ever. Oh, glorious day. It was then that an aforementioned hour passed by. Mochizou had found some information, mainly about breeding these creatures called Pokemon; and even an idiot could assume that this pink cat-like thing was one of them.

"So I'm supposed to... Breed you...?"

It's the first question he poses to his Pokemon. Hell, it's the first words he manages to grace the Skitty with. Naturally, he doesn't receive a response he's satisfied with. At least Dela back home could speak, even if it was obnoxious. He leans against the rough bark of the tree and stares blankly at the bright sky. Breeding, huh? Definitely not something he thought he'd be doing. He always thought he'd be destined to pound and roll mochi for the rest of his life... And make commercials! Commercials for his business! With kung-fu actors! ... Okay, now his mind was definitely straying from the situation at hand. Mochizou lets his gaze shift to the tall grass where he could blatantly see a mosaic of different creatures; rats and birds. The trees were abundant with scarier things like spiders and... Eggs? Well, that's new.

"Sorry little guy, I can't even give the girl I like a present on her birthday... Let alone find you another thing to... T-To..."

The Skitty replies with a mew and a small purr. Mochizou blinks at it before flushing with a bright red, as if understanding that the pink feline was teasing him. He opens his mouth as if to say something. Closes it. Opens it again. Aaaaaaand... Closes it. He makes an indignant sound before swinging his head away from his new friend.

"P-Platonically, okay? Platonically!"

He drowns himself in a bit of embarrassed heat before he turns to face his Skitty... But he soon finds himself smiling, reaching out a hand to scratch at it's chin affectionately. It's not so bad having someone to confide it; well, someone who won't run their mouth about his little secret.

Character
Name: Edgar Teglee
Series: Psychonauts
Timeline: Shortly post-canon.
Canon Resource Links: The Psychonauts wiki is here, Edgar's page is here, and the contents of his mind have one here.
Personality: Edgar has something I can't find better wording for than a bull affinity, the appropriateness of which is on a more elaborate level than the typical animal-stereotype "slow and unwieldy with an explosive temper" interpretation.

For starters, Edgar is typically well-spoken, pleasant, nonaggressive, and nonconfrontational. He's more or less introverted, generally sticking to himself off to the side where he can best relax alone with his art, or whatever happens to be on his mind, and he can come off as intimidating, his size not helped there by the fact that it shows whenever he's not in one of his best moods. However, he's definitely not unfriendly and seems open to company, even of complete strangers, as long as they don't seem too taxing to keep around. He's more or less a gentle giant (for a certain value of "giant" - he's not especially tall, but dear god those arms!).

But he does have, as the fandom usually puts it for simplicity's sake, anger issues that can't be denied as among the traits of his that can't really be stepped around in a description. 'Course, he was much quicker to enter object-flinging rage mode before undergoing Psychonaut-style therapy. Still, he's moody/touchy and also somewhat easily annoyed. Raz's clearing up his mind is unlikely to have completely eliminate his obsessive bent, either - only a subject of the worst of it. He can get very caught up in nagging thoughts, which predictably tends to make him moodier until he comes to peace with them, gets his mind off of them, or finds an outlet for them - this practically encourages compulsion, which is only a quick fix if he's been stewing on whatever might be bugging him enough to steer himself into blues.

He is in general very heart-on-sleeve and sensitive. If he feels anything at all, positive or negative, it'll show to some level - the closest he has to a neutral mood is probably either melancholy or smirking contentment. He manages to give off a strangely calm air even then, and is usually good at keeping enough of a handle on his emotions to express them gracefully or at least with containment - I s'pose anger and frustration are the hardest feelings for him to do so with. He's rather self-aware, not particularly content with his worst points and reluctant to get into anything that'll bring them out. On the other side of the coin, he knows and adores his strengths. He does seem to have a healthy sense of pride - on the flipside of another coin, wounding it can effectively stomp his motivation. Overall, yes, Edgar is an outwardly gruff person who prefers to keep things at his own pace, doesn't suffer being baited, and isn't the first person anyone wants to be in a room with when he's ticked off. Then again, he's also in-touch, genial, expressive, and dignified.

Edgar is also transparently a romantic and a dramatic with a kind of... flamboyance? Not in an obnoxious or hammy way though he can drive into melodrama unchecked, but he seems to like to stand out, hence his heavy arm-tats and clothes - just another form of creative expression. He's polite yet somewhat theatrical when he speaks, laying on emphasis and body language. These might just be outgrowths or go hand-in-hand with the fact that, well, he's very much an artist. His vocation is his vacation - he goes about his painting with an aesthetic eye, a love of beauty and color, and a passion for what he does.

As a last couple of notes, from his background and small details, it also wouldn't be too much of a stretch to say he probably has some degree of perfectionism, a competitive streak, a need to always be doing something, and occasional ambivalence when it comes to interacting with women.

Strengths/Weaknesses: Edgar has stupendous physical strength - not super strength, but natural strength - and is an even stronger artist - again, intense, elegantly expressive, and committed to his fields of interest. His early focus on physical pursuits clearly wasn't for lack of brains, either, as he comes off as intelligent in the "right-brained" sort of way, and he is also normally polite and friendly.

His temper is, again, his most signature weakness - containing tendency toward frustration, offense, overreaction, and grudges and bound up with obsessiveness and more passive and internalized types of sensitivity, all together giving him a liability to make himself miserable. While this is likely not necessarily a bad thing, though he'll practically throw himself into feelings of annoyance or gloominess, he doesn't seem to get simply worried about anything with a non-emotional significance - he accidentally breaks a gas main breaking out of Thorney Towers and simply goes from "well, whoops" to "well, all right then" when he confirms that the gas isn't on - and when he proceeds to spill most of his cleaning chemicals in the room with said gas main, his reaction is really just another "well, whoops." Both those points and tendency to lash out when irritated also suggest a bit of physical carelessness.

Pokémon Information

Samples
First Person Sample: [A video feed comes on to Edgar poised in front of a large black canvas - between two and three meters away from the 'Gear, gesturing eagerly with a wide paintbrush.]

Pablo - you've, ah, got it, then?

[Pablo the Tauros moos, and the camera bobs down, up, and back into place.]

Fantástico - [He grins - and there's a bit of a self-entertained, oddly eager chuckle in his tone.] This is something I've always wanted to do.

[Edgar turns, faces the canvas, takes a puffy, relishing breath, and splashes the brush into one of the paint globs covering a sheet of paper on a desk to his right. He begins sliding it over the canvas in wide, broad strokes.]

At home, there is a well-known video - of a particular famous painter, painting a bull on glass, on the opposite side of the camera. His name was Pablo Picasso -- in fact, that is why I picked the name "Pablo" for you, you see!

[The Tauros ever so slightly gives a fidgety shake of his head - or so the movement of the 'Gear suggests, assuming that it's mounted in some way between his horns. His trainer paints on, with a couple final splotches and sweeps adding the forehead studs and horns of an illustration of a Tauros, mostly shape formed by thick, bold, bright outlines and form strokes.]

A-a-and - cut!

[Edgar turns away from the canvas while gesturing toward it, smirking.

He doesn't seem to care
to cut the feed. He only takes a couple steps closer to the camera-mon, enormous arms crossed.] Our own recording of the painting of a bull. You have no problem with the results, I hope.

[The Tauros's moo, for the Pokémon-whisperers out there, is a no.]

It is simple, of course - but it's meant to be. Essential to suggesting a bull is less the details than the shape - the high back, the strong shoulders. Cows, as bulls technically are - no offense meant - are not thought of as "beautiful" things... but there is an elegance, to them. A powerful grace. [Hint of a laugh in his tone again.] To think that I could enjoy painting a bull again.

Third Person Sample: My.

Edgar had forgotten what it was like to lose a fight (fights with himself across his extended stay at the asylum aside).

He'd brought his team to challenge the Gym and they'd lost, just lost, and now he was simultaneously ashamed and vexed, and thinking about everything just behind him - that burned down asylum with the room full of canvas upon canvas covered in pink bulls and cleft-chinned matadors in green - had him, on top of that, ashamed and vexed of being ashamed and vexed.

Perhaps this is why the battling wasn't the job he was specifically assigned as a Pokémon trainer - or keeper, or something along those lines, since apparently trainers were normally the ones who did the battling. He wasn't sure where the lines were.

Part of another thought that welled up with a thick and sour-bitter feel from time to time. While handfuls of the others here, from what he understood, had some knowledge of this - it all worked mostly just like a popular game of some kind - he'd spent years upon years chained up with his canvases, and worse, even more embarrassing than he'd realized it could be until that one most gifted young psychic lad in the goggles took that door into his head and saw into the hearts of his neuroses, was that he had cheated himself out of all of that time - looking back and back subconsciously without even realizing that he was fixed on one point, where one loss was the cause of another and by extension the cause of another.

That didn't make him feel any better about getting aggravated about that lost match. Pokémon liked to fight, as far as everything indicated. Battling wasn't altogether avoidable, but losing any one match was - and honestly, what if this meant he was behind, or honestly hadn't the faintest idea what he was doing and had forgotten how to fight to the point that he couldn't even direct one, and the animals in his charge would remain behind? Or that's what he was risking thinking by getting annoyed about losing. And he could think about that, or think about trying not to think about that. Either way, he would be, again, ashamed and vexed on something.

Unless he just shifted tracks...

If nothing else, there were certainly moments in the match, where flashes of releases of energy and surges of dynamic intensity in the Pokémon's moves, steps, and flaps were timed together thrillingly - perhaps painting or at least drawing some expression of their memory would be a constructive redirection.

That and a good exercise in "capturing" the odd and impressive animals of this world in another way.

Character
Name: Spike
Series: My Little Pony
Timeline: Just after Season 3, Episode 12.
Canon Resource Links: My Little Pony wiki page

Personality:
Spike was hatched and raised by the unicorn and main character Twilight Sparkle, and he looks up to her as an older sister figure. Because of this, he tends to see himself as closer to a pony than a dragon, however this has led to some deep insecurity issues about his draconic background and the stereotypical image of a dragon. Sometimes he feels that he is out of place in Ponyville, or he feels he is unable to measure up to the stereotypical image of a dragon (that they are big and strong). This is highly evident when he goes on a ‘self discovery’ journey, and meets a group of teenage dragons. They tease him about his size, his personality, and his lack of bravery. By wanting to fit in with the dragons around him (and be what the majority of the land’s inhabitants think a dragon should be) Spike initially succumbs to the peer pressure of the other young dragons, and tries to act ‘like a dragon’. However it is easy to see that while happy at first at being accepted, he feels uncomfortable with the actions of the other young dragons, and in the end risks being ostracised by them by choosing to save one of the phoenix eggs they want him to break. Despite wanting to be seen by his peers as a dragon, Spike chooses to remains his playful, loyal self, rather than become one of them.

Spike also appears to have abandonment issues, however it is difficult to see where these originally may have developed - it may be tied into his insecurities about being a dragon raised by a unicorn. There are times when Spike is scared that Twilight might not need him anymore, and he becomes extremely upset when he feels that she may abandon him. However Twilight has never indicated that this would ever happen. In one episode, a magic ‘door’ shows that Spike’s deepest fear is Twilight telling him that she has no use for him anymore. When the real Twilight manages to snap him out of the spell, Spike is crying at seeing this deepest fear come about.

Spike also has a jealous streak, particularly when it comes to sharing the affection and responsibilities of Twilight. Spike doesn’t like the idea of anyone invading ‘his territory’, and feels jealous and threatened when this is the case, as with Twilight’s pet, Owlowiscious. This jealous side links with his fear of abandonment and uselessness.
Despite these underlying issues, Spike is actually a very optimistic and playful character. He often encourages Twilight to relax and play instead of studying so hard, and is one of the first to encourage her to make friends. He often cheers her up, gives her confidence in herself and her abilities, and tries to make sure she knows how to have fun and not overwork herself. He is her ‘number 1 assistant’, and seems to be content to help her by finding books/sorting her vast library, scribing for her, and assisting with spells (or being the guinea pig). Because of Twilight’s influence (and her strong opinion of ‘hard work’ and organisation), Spike is usually mature and responsible in his role as her assistant.

Spike also has close relationships with the other five main ponies. He always shows concern if one of them is in trouble, and will try to cheer them up if they are upset. He is a bit of a ‘fan boy’ in regards to Rainbow Dash - he is in her fan club, and is the writer of her ‘autobiography’ (as she calls it). Spike also has a huge crush on Rarity, and despite his dragon nature to want to hoard things (particularly gems), he would willingly give them all to Rarity if she desired. He is always eager and willing to assist her in finding gems for her outfits, and often becomes shy or enamoured if she shows him affection or gratitude. It appears that Rarity is well aware of Spike’s crush, but never mentions it - whether this is to refrain from hurting Spike’s feelings, or because she actually likes him back is not clear.

Spike’s youth is also very evident, despite the responsibilities given to him by Twilight. He likes to gorge on icecream, cake and gems (when he has the chance), dress up in costumes, makes faces over things he doesn’t like, and whines when he doesn’t want to do something / doesn’t like something. He also has a habit of falling asleep when he is tired, akin to a young child. He sometimes laughs or pokes fun at the misfortune of others (in one episode he gives main six ponies nicknames that relate to the curse that is affecting them), and makes sarcastic comments.

Occasionally the ‘dragon’ side of Spike comes out. He can be greedy, manipulative and sly when he wants to be. While Spike usually has decent self-control, there are times where he will become greedy and over-indulge in something he loves, to the point of making himself either sick or obsessive. This is particularly evident in one episode when Spike begins to receive presents for his birthday. When he realises that he can get things for free, he becomes greedy and uses his birthday as an excuse to get more presents. Eventually his greed overpowers his intelligence, and all he can think about is acquiring more ‘things’. This sudden increase in the greedy side of his nature causes him to grow exponentially in this episode until Rarity is able to help him revert back to his usual self. Spike has also manipulated ponies into giving him more gems for what he believes will be an easy job (pet-sitting). He throws aside the responsibility of this role as his sole focus is to acquire more gems. When he displays this greedy side, he is often rebuked by Twilight, which shows their relationship to be more like a family than just friends.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
+ Loyal: He is always there for Twilight and the other ponies, and helps Twilight when he sees that she is in trouble.
+ Optimistic: He is usually very positive, and helps boost Twilight’s confidence when she is stressed or upset over something.
+ A good friend: Spike listens and tries to help when he sees that they are in trouble
+ Playful / teasing: He likes to joke, laugh and be sarcastic. Being a baby dragon, there are times when he acts like the child he is.
+ Learns from his mistakes: Spike has shown that when he makes a mistake (such as becomes overly greedy), he can learn from these.
+ Musical talent (piano and singer): He is an adept piano player and singer.
+ Can cook and scribe well: He is shown to have decent cooking skills and is a good scribe. He is used to using a quill and parchment.
+ Caring: He cares strongly about his friends, especially Twilight, who he looks up to as an older sister. He also has a pet phoenix (briefly), which shows that he cares about other animals.
+ Is a post office: Spike burps letters back and forth between Twilight and Princess Celestia using his dragon breath. I WANT A BABY DRAGON TO DO THIS FOR ME.

+/- Confident: Spike’s confidence comes and goes due to his insecurities. He tends to be overly confident on the outside (probably to cover up his insecurities), but this show of confidence can easily be destroyed.
+/- Brave/Scaredy cat: Spike tends to put on a front of being brave and strong, however often when something scary actually happens, Spike gets afraid or nervous. However despite his fears, he will still help, particularly when encouraged by his friends or if one of them is in trouble.

- Greedy: As he is a dragon by nature, he has a tendency to be greedy, and hoards or gorges on various things he likes (gems, icecream, cupcakes etc). He sometimes shows a lack of self-control.
- Insecure: He is unsure of his identity/purpose/abilities, and boasts to cover up for this insecurity.
- Sneaky: Tied to his greed, he has lied and manipulated ponies to get what he wants, although this is rare, and he doesn’t do it with the purpose of being nasty or cruel.
- Childish: Due to his age, Spike can be childish sometimes, and whines and complains about things he doesn’t like or doesn’t want to do.
- Jealous: Spike becomes jealous when he feels his role or his ‘territory’ is being threatened by someone else.

[The feed clicks on to a close up image of Spike’s chin. It starts moving around in a dizzying pace as Spike turns it, inspecting it. Eventually it settles on his face].

I think I got it working [He taps the screen]. This thing is weird. And so are my claws. [Pauses to inspect his hands].

Twilight, did you mess up another spell? I mean, look at this! I’m this weird pink colour…and squishy.

[Spike pokes at his cheek with a screwed up expression on his face].

And my tail! My tail is gone! [The background spins as Spike turns in a circle].

[Whines a little] Twiiiiiliiiight. Can’t you fix it and send us back? This place is so weird….and a little scary…and where in Equestria is that music coming from??

[There’s a snapping sound, and he swiftly jumps to one side and looks down at something off camera].

H..Hey! I’m not ignoring you!

[A pause, and then a worried and slightly panicked look crosses Spike’s face.]

Uh oh…I think I made it angry…

Third Person Sample:

Spike dropped down under a tree, pulling off his backpack and stretching out, exhausted. “This walking is so boring!” He closed his eyes, but quickly opened them again at the sound of snapping. His Trapinch stood there like a solid rock, giving him a beady look. Spike sighed and sat up again.

“I suppose you’re hungry?” he asked it. The Trapinch continued to stare at him. Spike sighed again and rummaged through the backpack, strewing things across the shaded grass. He finally emerged, looking a little sheepish. “So um…I think we’re out of food? I probably shouldn't have eaten all that stuff at breakfast…and then brunch…but I was hungry! And it’s not like you stopped me! You ate a lot too you know.”

Spike could tell this was not going down well with his Trapinch. He quickly scooted behind the tree as his Trapinch suddenly opened its mouth wide, well aware by now of how razor sharp those teeth were. He had scars to prove it - this squishy body wasn't really well equipped to fend of bite attacks. It was times like this that Spike really missed his scales.
“TRAAAAAAAAAA”.

Spike winced. Usually that sound was followed by an attack. “Okay okay! I’ll go find something for both of us, I promise!” he said hurriedly, trying to placate his sole pokemon. He gave his Trapinch a wide berth as he wandered around searching. Even though it never looked very mobile, his Trapinch could move a lotfaster than Spike had originally given it credit for. Usually straight as Spike, and with teeth showing.

Not far away from where his Trapinch sat watching him like a hawk, Spike found an apple tree with about a dozen medium sized apples on it. “Perfect! Now I just need to get them down,” he said gleefully rubbing his hands. “Hey Pinchy, I found an apple tree,” he called back to his pokemon. Silence. Spike sighed. His pokemon wasn't very talkative. “Fine,” he muttered under his breath. “I’ll get them myself”.

He tried to gauge the distance between himself and the closest apple, and jumped, trying to reach it. Unfortunately, he was too short. There were a few sticks close by, so he grabbed one and tried to use it to dislodge the apple, but he was still about a foot short of the goal. “Why did I have to stay short in this place?” he whined as he stared up at the apple. “They could have made me a little taller.”

“TRAAAAPIIIINCH”. Spike jumped about three feet in the air. His Trapinch had wandered over and was now sitting right next to him. “Ahahaha,” Spike laughed nervously, trying to restrain from bolting to the side. “You…ah…surprised me Pinchy.”

“TRAAAAAAPIIIIINCH”. Trapinch nudged Spike’s foot with its head, causing Spike to freeze, anticipating losing a limb. But instead of pain, all Spike felt was another nudge.

“TRAAAAA”. The Trapinch successfully shoved its large head under one of Spike’s feet. “Wha…wait…you want me to stand on you? Won’t that like…hurt…or something?” Spike was really confused. Trapinch had never tried to help before. Maybe it was because it wanted food. “TRAA.”

Spike wasn’t sure about this. But the apples looked so tempting. “Well…er…okay, I guess. But let me know if I’m hurting you, okay?” Despite their fractious relationship, Spike didn’t want his pokemon to get hurt or anything. His Trapinch gave him what appeared to be a dirty look. He carefully shifted his other foot to stand on Trapinch’s head, and almost lost his balance when his Trapinch stretched its head up. “Woah, careful Pinchy!” He swayed a little unsteadily. Using the stick, he reached up again. Now he was much closer. He whacked the closest one. The stem broke and the apple fell. He let out a whoop, and went for the next one.

After a few minutes of moving around the tree, Spike and Pinchy had managed to dislodge about five of the apples. Hopping off Pinchy, Spike gathered them all up, and together they wandered back to their original tree where Spike had left all his stuff.

Sitting down, Spike carefully handed an apple to Pinchy, wary about losing a finger. Surprisingly, his Trapinch took the apple equally as carefully, not even attempting to bite him. Spike grinned. One step in the right direction, finally. Twilight would be proud.

Character
Name: Kushina Uzumaki
Series: Naruto
Timeline: Just after Minato completes the final seal
Canon Resource Links: Nuruto Wiki: Kushina Uzumaki, and Her chapter for Ultimate Ninja Storm 3

Personality: Kushina is remembered as and shown to be a fiery, sometimes ill-tempered, impulsive, and passionate kunoichi (female ninja) known for her looks and her unique fighting style. She's the sort of person who is determined to give her all to whatever direction she chooses.

She is not and never will be the sort to sit around and wait to be rescued, though there is a flip side to that, in that even she knows the difference between teamwork and playing damsel. Kushina knows when and how to play her cards depending on the situation. She has a vivacious love for life and family and will neither give up or die easily ("Don't give up until the very end!"), but if it means protecting what she loves she's willing to pay that price.

In her youth (and even later on in adulthood) Kushina sort of paints the very image of a tomboy. She has an "unfeminine" laugh, a short and somewhat violent temper, weird verbal tics, and doesn't seem very fussed about typically girly things or beating the crap out of boys.

She’s headstrong, confident, and fearless (though she expressed having anxiety over the prospect of labor pains). Her personality and mindset are definitely anything but meek, and Kushina prefers to handle her problems head on whenever she can. That isn't to say that she’s without understanding that battle often time consists equally of power, intelligence, and restraint, however. It's implied that despite their many similarities she wasn't quite as reckless as Naruto in her youth, but twice as hot tempered and every bit as gutsy.

There were times in flashback when Kushina appeared to be easily distracted or sidetracked (when not focused on a mission), and her excitement gives the impression of impatience. Actually she herself admits to being born impatient, hence her talking so fast that "weird things come out", but while it's true that she doesn't like to wait but she's actually surprisingly patient after practice and training.

Another thing about Kushina is that she's extremely energetic. She can definitely talk and she's lively about it when she does. In addition to being a little bit on the loud side Kushina sometimes demonstrates her impatience by mumbling and running her words together. It's most noticeable when she felt she was being lectured (kind of like a kid being reminded to wear their hat and gloves when all they want is to hurry up and go outside to play), particularly by Minato when he was being extremely fussy over her pregnancy. It's probably a trait that she retained from her youth, since she explains that she had some trouble with school and getting in trouble with her teachers.

There's one other verbal tick: When Kushina becomes worked up in any way, for any reason (excitement, anger, embarrassment, fear, annoyance, etc.) she's prone to dropping the words "like" or "y'know". Usually this is expressed as a verbal tic similar to Naruto's "dattebayo"- as "dattebane". It's a trait that she's tried to curb. She expresses embarrassment over this trait (well into adulthood no less) and hoped it was one bad habit Naruto wouldn't pick up. When she finds out that he did anyway she doesn't seem fussed by it, though, much more amused than anything.

Her fearlessness isn’t literal, of course. Naturally even the former vessel has things that she fears but what Kushina possesses is the strength of heart, mind, and character to face those situations with a cool head like any good shinobi should do.

Though her relationship with Minato was enough to quell her temper quite a bit she's still subject to emotional outbursts (such as when she hits Naruto over the head after he mistakes her for the nine-tails). She’s also demonstrated an awareness of it, along with an effort to stop these slip-up’s, as illustrated by her immediately becoming sheepish afterwards. Again, after being rescued by Minato her life, and thus the brash tomboy herself began to change for the better. She and Minato argue from time to time and it’s stated that he’s only ever won one of their arguments- their final argument.

Kushina was comforted and advised by the nine-tails current host that before she could house the nine-tails she would need to fill herself up with love. Kushina did this in falling in love with Minato, and in turn she had enough love to go around to others in spades. Though being a vessel is universally believed to be an ostracized existence Kushina is shown to be one of those who had the stregnth to find the key to living a happy life without regrets.

Huh? Is that me? Oh crap—! It’s recording already?! Why didn’t you tell me?! Hey, stop laughing! This is like—totally embarrassing!

[ Bright blue eyes turn to the screen with a very flustered looking expression. The woman reaches up to rub the back of her head in embarrassment and has the good grace to look sheepish. She’ll hand the device down to whoever she was talking to. Now that you have a proper view of her you can see a bit more of just how long that hair flows. She’s wearing a modified version of the ace trainer outfit, She's sitting cross legged on the floor in front of the low surface with her hands resting on her knees, and she has a big, bright, excited grin in place. ]

I guess it's a communicator after all! Nice to meet you guys. I’m Kushina Uzumaki! So hey, I've been filled in on how this place works, but I still have some questions. Like what's the strangest thing you've seen or experienced since you got here? What about your favorite place to eat? And is it true that every village and road has a different song? So, hey, if that's true you should tell me which one is your favorite while you're at it. I mean, I guess if you don't like the music you probably don't really HAVE a favorite, but whatever.

[ She's joined then by a Chimchar on her shoulder, and she flashes a grin. Someone off screen in the distance says something about leaving to bring back food, and Kushina turns away as her attention shifts. ] Oh, hey! Wait up a sec! I'll come with you!

[ Back to the gear, and she offers a lopsided smile. ] Welp, that's my cue! Later!

Third Person Sample: She's in a bed in an unfamiliar room, an unfamiliar HOUSE. Her senses tell her that nothing is placed where it should be if this were home. It's too spacious, too open. There's the scent of breakfast wafting in under the door and through a vent in the room. She's alone (a pang of pain at that, Minato's death and recent events still vividly clear in her memories). She's still wearing the same clothes that she'd died in and her injuries are gone, though she did feel the blood crusted on her face. That didn't add up at all with what she'd expected.

Well, not the dried-blood part, she had been through the wringer before waking again, after all. Even with her injuries healed and her life brought back from the brink she should still feel sore as hell. Childbirth, having the nine-tails forcefully extracted, and then being gradually depleted of every bit of her remaining chakra? Yeah, it was a really rough night.

Having assessed the situation Kushina began to move. The pain that previously rippled through her abused muscles seemed to fade as quickly as she sat up, phantom pains, memories quickly overwritten by the present reality. The kunoichi took one look around the room before rising and silently making her way to the door. Though outwardly calm it was the sort of lethal silence that came with years of training. For the time being she wasn't in civilian mode. Still, her thoughts raced with questions, frustration, confusion, and concern bubbling beneath the surface. There were so many questions and not nearly enough answers! What the hell was going on? This wasn't how the sealing jutsu should have ended, she FELT herself die, and reanimation jutsu seemed impossible and unlikely as well. Until she could verify the safety and location of her husband and their son she wasn't going to stop, and if she found out they were in some kind of danger then whoever was responsible was going to find themselves having a very bad day, chakra or no chakra.

Once she was close enough to make out the murmur of voices Kushina pressed slightly against the wall and slid the door open just a crack. Ears strained to remain alert, blue eyes focusing immediately on the base of the steps for any sign of shadows or figures coming or going. From where she was positioned in her room she could simply listen and take in the bustle on the first floor. It might have been a crude form of intelligence gathering, but it was the best that she could do at the moment.

There was a woman downstairs, she could hear her humming and moving about in what sounded like a kitchen. Something called the "Eevee News" was playing from- from... what, a large radio transmitter? She made a face, narrowing her eyes and furrowing her brow. Whatever was going on down there would have sounded downright... domestic if it weren't so strange.

Okay. There was a window. Two choices: Go downstairs and confront what sounded like a (harmless) civilian with no idea who or what else might be waiting at the bottom of the stairs, or climb out the window and make a stealthy escape. Maybe she could look in from outside and get a better read on the situation?

Tempting as rushing in and beating the crap out of her captor(s) sounded (especially given her family was missing) that would be too risky with her condition. She might get them killed being reckless and impatient. If they were holding either or both of them hostage then she needed to verify their locations first. So yeah, sneaking out sounded like a safe bet.

On the other side of the glass was a village that looked nothing like anything she'd ever seen before. The houses were made of various materials and they all had odd shapes. She was willing to bet that their interiors were just as strange as the room she was stepping out of.

Climbing outside proved easy enough, and there didn't seem to be anyone around who had noticed her yet, but as she neared the edge of the roof she became increasingly aware of just how severely her abilities had been dampened. Her foot came down on a row of loose tile. She told her body to leap but the move was much, much slower than what she was accustomed to. As the tile slid and took her along with it Kushina's eyes went wide with surprise. ShitshitSHIT!

The fall didn't hurt nearly as much as her pride, but it still stung pretty bad. What was worse, the commotion drew someone to the front door! CRAP.

"Honey?! Honey, what are you doing outside? I didn't hear you come downstairs."

"Honey?! What--??" Kushina looked like a startled cat for an instant, hair mussed up from her crash into the bushes, she was trying to decide, quickly, if she should pull a tactic retreat or take this strange woman for questioning (And seriously? Honey? HONEY?!). Before she even got the chance she was reaching back inside for something- Kushina assumed a weapon and prepared to dodge or counter -and turned again to reveal... a backpack.

A BACKPACK.

Oh, and a smile, big and bright. "Well, I guess you must be in a hurry to start your adventure, huh? It's for the best, I let you sleep in. You don't want to keep the professor waiting do you? Your Pokemon is in the left pocket. Be safe and don't forget to call!"

She says it all so quickly that even Kushina can't get a word in edgewise. She gets to her feet and rushes forward, but the door slams shut almost as soon as the last word is out of the woman's mouth. Kushina's fist smashes into it in frustration, and she can feel her muscles twitching with irritation.

What. The. F--

Time to try another approach.

Current Characters in Route: None

Character
Name: Princess Mi Amore Cadenza (shortened to Cadence)
Series: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
Timeline: Post-Season 3
Canon Resource Links: Behold! The Crystal Princess!

Personality: As indicated by her title, Cadence has incredible amount of faith in the power of love. This isn’t due to any bias as the princess of love, mind you; she truly believes that love is the greatest emotion and greatest force out there. Love can put an end to disputes, heal all wounds and bring people (and ponies) closer together. Most of her magic revolves around love and she’s known for literally spreading it wherever she goes, so if there’s a dispute going on, she’ll work her hardest to end it peacefully.

While she’s not particularly fond of direct confrontations, she’ll still fight for what she believes in and most importantly, the ones she loves. It takes a lot to pick yourself up when you’ve hit rock bottom and everything’s crumbling around you, but when the time came to save Shining from the changeling queen and ultimately, Equestria, she charged right off to end it. The greatest problem from this ordeal wasn’t that Shining was going to marry someone else, but that the other person he was going to marry didn’t love him and didn’t plan on loving him. All Chrysalis wanted was to use him for her own purposes; it was the thought of Shining marrying for reasons that excluded love that truly horrified her and kept her moving.

It’s during times of crises when Cadence will truly demonstrate how far she’s willing to go for the sake of others; with love for pretty much everyone out there comes a slight feeling of responsibility for them, even if she barely knows them. This stems from both her personality and her role as a princess, so there’s no doubt about how much of her heart she’ll put into a task when the need arises. Unfortunately, she often pushes herself to her limits when she works so hard; when the Crystal Empire faced the imposing threat of literally being lost in darkness, she used her own magic to keep the empire safe and the darkness out. For days, she didn’t eat or even sleep. She simply sat on her throne and maintained that barrier until she exhausted her magic.

…But even in those situations, she’ll still make time for others. Even when practically wasting away from maintaining the barrier, Cadence still greeted Twilight with their secret hoofshake and a smile. Her devotion to her responsibilities are only rivaled by her devotion to her loved ones…even though it won’t be too surprising if she ends up hurting herself because of it. It’s to be expected when her specialization in love defines a good portion of her character. It means she’s willing to go the extra mile for and tend to others in need, especially children. She helped raise Twilight as her foal sitter and bonded with her to the point where they both considered each other sisters. Part of the reason for this is due to Cadence still occasionally acting like a child. After all, she’s an adult princess who still does the secret hoofshake she did when she was young. Though it often makes her look unprofessional, Cadence is mature enough to know when it’s okay to act like a child and when to act like an adult.

As loving and caring as she is, Cadence isn’t one to take threats sitting down. She’s no damsel in distress; in fact, she’s quite the opposite. Even when things are at their worst, she remains proactive in finding a solution for it while making sure everyone with her also makes it through. Even when Chrysalis trapped her in a cave, she went forth with a brave heart and Twilight by her side. Admittedly, she doesn’t always think logically when she gets desperate; a mine cart that would carry Twilight and Cadence closer to the cave’s exit was blocked off by fallen rocks. In her strong wish to save Shining Armor from Chrysalis, she tried to force the cart in motion by pushing it, an effort that was to no avail. It took Twilight’s rational thinking and levitation to move said rocks out of the way to keep them going, but ultimately they escaped.

Overall, Cadence remains very friendly towards others, though her experience with changelings has taught her to be more careful with whom she speaks to. Even while living in a world full of loving ponies, she still stands out as one of the more uniquely sweet and loving mares around. As a princess, she knows of proper conduct and how to act towards others, but to stay as loving and kind as she is shows how she doesn’t let her title get to her head, especially since she prefers that others call her Cadence instead of her full name.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
+Very responsible as a princess and a person
+Knows how to manage herself (as in when to be sensitive and when to be serious)
+Kind towards all others, particularly children
+Always willing to offer help
+Particularly knowledgeable of love and relationships
+Knows better than to grow an ego from her title or her specialty in love
+Takes initiative during times of crises

+-Always modest
+-Self-sacrificing

-Pacifistic in her approach to problem solving (She’s a lover; not a fighter)
-Doesn’t always think straight
-Occasionally childish
-Often exhausts herself from overexerting support

Samples
First Person Sample:
(Have a concerned Cadence on the feed, everyone.)
I've just learned about a Pokemon called Ditto and...I'm not exactly sure what to think. I've been told that's a Pokemon every breeder should pursue and after learning about its capabilities, I can understand why. After all, a Pokemon that can breed with any other Pokemon out there is definitely something special!

I'm just...concerned about the prospect. I know breeders are supposed to make strong Pokemon through breeding, but...well, I prefer such things be done through love than through force, you know? Having a child is a big step forward in a relationship, but a Ditto...well, it seems as though they're only treated as breeding machines than Pokemon. I'm not saying they can't love, but sometimes I worry they're expected not to love. They can dream and feel as much as any Pokemon or even any of us, can't they?

...I might be thinking too deeply into it, but isn't it a breeder's responsibility to ensure their Pokemon are happy and willing to produce eggs? I mean, it's every much about them as it is about their children...

...What do you think about the issue, everyone? This is clearly something that could benefit from a debate.

Third Person Sample:

Cadence had to admit, there was something very enjoyable about not only being a breeder, but being in a completely different world with so much to do and so much to see. Did she miss home? Yes. Did she worry about the Crystal Empire? Of course. Was it awkward getting adjusted to a human body? Obviously. However, she didn't let the cons weigh her down for long; it's not as if this was a complete loss.

For one thing, it gave her a much-needed break from her royal duties; she didn't mind them much, but after a while, even princesses need to take a break. And if she really started to miss her title, there were always her Pokemon to keep in mind. They're adorable little rascals, but they really need someone to supervise them. There were also her fellow ponies; they're responsible on their own, but as the oldest in the group, Cadence had to assume the role of a guardian figure.

The ponies were very much another reason to appreciate Johto: not only was there the benefit of having others from her world to spend time with, but she could spend time with her favorite group of ponies, all of whom had as much difficulty adjusting to human bodies as she did. Cadence knew the easiest way to make anything exciting was to get Twilight and her friends involved in something. She heard about the Grand Galloping Gala incident and almost regrets not being there to see everything fall to pieces.

Even if they weren't here, there were plenty of others from other worlds to talk to! Humans seemed like a pretty interesting bunch and after spending some time as one, she couldn't help but get a little curious about them. After all, they'd probably feel the same way if they became ponies, right? They were as interesting to her as the Pokemon.

...Pokemon who apparently saw fit to occasionally stir up trouble amongst each other like children. It always made her laugh and want to hug them when she saw them like this; with a love for animals and a love for children, it was like getting the best (and sometimes the worst) of both worlds.

Character
Name: Marty McFly
Series: Back to the Future [that cuh-razy movie triology]
Timeline: Post-third movie.
Canon Resource Links:
» Character Background
» Canon Background

Personality:
Marty McFly is a cool kid who keeps it cool until someone calls him chicken. Then he loses his cool and then punches people in the mouth Clint Eastwood style. Because Marty McFly keeps it real, son. Word to yo’ momma.

…Okay, maybe not.

For the most part the time-traveling boy wonder is an easygoing kid; a friendly guy who has no trouble befriending others. Unless your last name happens to rhyme with “Fannen” then Marty might be a little on edge. But his relationship with Doc Brown gives some insight into the kind of person Marty is and how he interacts with others. The fact that he his friend’s with the town’s “crackpot” shows that he doesn’t shy away from what others might consider to be strange and out of the ordinary. For about 95% of the time, a bunch of technobabble just spews of out the Doc’s mouth but Marty just seems to go with it. Is it a little crazy? Sure and Marty has no idea what he is talking about but that is just a part of who Doc is and Marty accepts that. He wouldn’t have it any other way.

Marty is also an aspiring musician, always practicing his guitar whenever he has the chance and he is actually pretty good at it even though he doesn’t quite believe it himself. It’s not that he believes that he awful at playing the guitar but the problem for him is that he is afraid that others wouldn’t think that he is good enough. This all stems from Marty’s original timeline in which he grew up with a father who never stood up for himself or aspired for his dreams and allowed others to dictate who he is as well as his future. As much as Marty hates to admit, some of that rubbed onto him. There is that lingering fear inside of him that is afraid of rejection of not being on par with the rest of everyone else. That he will eventually grow up to be just like his father. Eventually he learns to face his demons but those insecurities still follow him along, however, at least he knows that his future is not written in stone. People cannot tell him what his future is going to be and it is only him that is capable of that.

Unfortunately that is not where Marty’s slight inferiority complex ends. It has also manifested itself whenever his bravery is put into question. Marty is not the kind of person you would expect to get mixed up in all sorts of trouble as well as not the type who would maliciously hurt others either it being through his words or his actions. Intentionally, he wouldn’t stick his neck into something he knows that would hurt himself or others though trouble has an odd way of finding him. One of the primary examples of this is whenever a person (most likely someone from the Tannen family) starts name calling and tells Marty that he’s a “chicken”. And that would be enough for Marty to completely lose his shit. There is something that ignites inside of him and he would just take the challenge head on. Again, his need to recklessly prove himself comes from having that need to compensate, to prove that he is not a pushover like his father. He knows that it’s completely stupid and reckless, there is even a twinge of regret in eyes after everything is all said and done but he just can’t find it within himself to just let it go.

It’s not until the third part of Back to the Future (film) where he learns that always answering to a petty fight or challenge will just hurt him in the long run. This is where Marty learns that there is a difference between defending yourself and proving yourself to others. Like in that quick-draw match between him and Mad Dog Tannen in the year 1885, Marty knows he doesn’t stand a chance taking the rouge down. He makes a large gamble with his life that he can get out of this mess if Doc can get the time-traveling DeLorean to work again and take them back to 1985. Unfortunately for him, shit hits the fan and Marty is forced to dance with death.

Something hits him, he may not be as strong as any Tannen in history or as brilliant as Doc but he can definitely use his quick-wit to get himself out of this jam. That being something right off of a Clint Eastwood movie in which he creates his own makeshift body armor. Even after the fact in 1985 where Marty is challenged to a drag race by a bunch of punk-rockers with his new truck. Instead of racing them, he just lets them on, revving up his engine more and more right until the light turns green and he puts his truck into reverse. He realizes that if he did raced against them, he would have caused a major crash between him and an oncoming Rolls Royce.

Now it’s established that Marty is not exactly the “book smart” type. He isn’t a complete slacker like his high school principal makes him out to be but let’s just say he won’t be stepping into an Ivy League institution anytime soon. Despite Marty not being the brightest in the academic bunch, he makes up for it with his quick, resourceful wit. He has this uncanny knack for getting out of sticky situations with what’s given to him. He’s no Angus MacGyver but it’s his swift, ‘on your feet’ decision making that ends up helping him. As it was mentioned before, if it were the Marty from the first two films, he would probably be considered more reckless than usual. He would be compelled to act first before even thinking about it. Towards the end of the third part and into the Back to the Future: The Game, he channels that impulsiveness in a completely different light.

So let’s be honest here, Marty is just your average teenaged kid. Compared to the other alpha males that roam the halls of Hill Valley High, he doesn’t quite match up. He is not as tall or as strong as the lot of them but what Marty lacks in superficial qualities he makes up for with that good head on his shoulders. Marty is a decent kid who tries to stay away out of trouble (the operative word here is “try”) but he also isn’t one to stay behind the sidelines whenever someone tries to push him or anyone other.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
☑ CHICKENHEART: So yeah, Marty gets it. He's a short guy. Probably not as strong as most others pumping iron every other living hour but he makes up for that with his bravery to stand up against others who are "bigger" than him. If the odds are stacked up against him, he won't back down. He will just find some other way to fight them.

☑ GUITAR HERO: Have I told you how much this kid can jam? Because this kid can get down with his bad self. He may not know any Leaf no Jutsus or super secret Degergent Bukaki moves but throw a guitar his way and he will riff like no one's business.

☒ A LITTLE TOO OVER HIS HEAD (AKA I RAN OUT OF COOL GUITAR TITLES): Marty has a tendency to find himself in situations where he doesn't realize the real magnitude until it actually happens. Like picking a gunfight with the town's most ruthless, toothless bandit this side of California. But he can't help but sticking his neck out for others when they're in trouble, especially for his friends.

☒ NOT THAT BOOKSMART: Just like says on the tin, Marty isn't actually on the same intellectual plane as Doc but that isn't to say he is that dumb. He compensates that with his quick wit and resourcefulness. Just don't expect him writing any academic papers on the relativity on quantum physics anytime in the future.

[Let's see here, camera check 1-2-3... Okay. Cool. At least the future phone works.

Hey there America! Have +1 teenaged boy whose face is a little too close to the lens. His eyes squint at the camera.]

Alright.

[Marty claps his hands together and backs away from the camera, getting a shot of his small and quite vacant dorm room.]

Everything looking good over there, little guy?

[There is a happy yelp from the Trubbish behind the camera.]

Okay, gonna' need a name for you. Can't be calling you 'little guy' for long. Bare with me here. You too, Scrags.

[A tiny Scraggy pads into the shot as he nods at the teenager.]

It is a...Monday. April 1st. And uh- anyone want to tell me what exactly is going on here? You see, I tried talking to these guys in black and they kind of have this thing with talking around in circles. I really appreciate the sudden job offer but I need to get back home. Y'know, parents they can be real worrywarts sometimes.

I'd ask around but those Rocket Grunts! Real strict about curfews.

[He winces.]

I'm on curfew...

Third Person Sample:

It's hard to keep your focus on all of this "intense training" when all you are doing is just standing around like some dolt, watching others in front of you having a blast. Someone tell Marty again why is he doing this again? Because he was pretty sure he didn't sign his off name to be a part of a group of wannabe-thugs, patrolling the area in some ridiculously stuffy uniform. He leans against the wall, whistling a small tune under his breath. First it was Johnny B Good then he found himself whistling Sweet Home Alabama. It keeps Marty preoccupied until one of the big cheeses barks at him for slacking off.

Yep. Marty has got to get out of here. He is not about to wake up to some strange land with strange creatures only to be stuck in some dead-end job. If only Doc were here, he'd probably find some escape route with a tube of toothpaste and a can of Diet Pepsi. Looks like he is going to have to be a little creative in his little escape too.

Marty gets a real good gander of this place. Nothing but grunts'n'cameras galore. No doubt if he just waltz out of here he was not going to leave so scot-free. Maybe he should consult his "partners". Maybe they'll have some insight on how to bust out of here.

The lizard with the over-sized pants is too busy picking his nose and the living trash bag is swinging its' arms back and forth nonchalantly.

But hey why not? Let's see what they know.

"I don't take it you're used to all of this" he says as he looks down at his Scraggy. The lizard looks up at Marty still picking his nose until- JACKPOT! WE HAVE STRUCK GOLD.

The Scraggy kindly offers Marty his booger.

"Ah...No thanks. I'm a non-boogertarian." To which the Scraggy shrugs his little shoulders and pops the booger in his mouth. Marty winces.

"I don't think I'll get used to that."

Series: Avatar: The Last Airbender
Timeline: Post-Sozin’s Comet, Part 4: Avatar Aang
Canon Resource Links: Sokka’s Wikia Link;; The Series’ Wikia Link;; Book One Summary;; Book Two Summary;; Book Three Summary

Personality: Sokka is probably one of the most unique individuals from the world of Avatar, and that is saying something. There are many traits that make Sokka who he is, and it is the combination of those traits that makes him quite unlike anyone else ever encountered in his world.

Over the course of his life he has grown into talented warrior and strategist, always coming up with plans to adapt to the situations around him and never giving up on a battle, even when defeat is imminent. Recently he has learned the value of a strategic retreat, and over all else will value the lives of his friends and comrades over continuing the fight in any circumstance. It is those qualities that make him seem to be a natural leader, along with his charisma and intellect as powerful tools and an unmatched sense of honor and duty to keep his strategies in check and allowing him to factor in risk as well.

But, Sokka isn’t only a warrior and strategist. He is quick-witted and charming in his own way, loving social gatherings and keeping up with trends of whatever place he’s in so that he can easily both blend into the crowd and shine as an individual. Although he is somewhat prone to failing to his nerves before a big event, for the most part he is calm and more than willing to chat it up with the people around him, drawing them to him with his eccentric way of thinking and his knowledge of the world around him.

Sokka has always had a love of learning, especially if he can easily see what benefit said learning would have for him. He will go out of his way to gain any knowledge he deems useful to him, even to the point of risking his own life for it at points. How he applies this knowledge is also admirable, using it to formulate feasible battle plans and always exploiting every advantage he possibly can with it along with his own creativity and ingenuity.

When given the right tools and resources, Sokka’s ingenuity knows no bounds; he has come up with the solution to detecting dangerous gases leaking from an enclosed space, solved the conundrum of a hot air balloon, and came up with the initial designs for submarines and war tanks utilized with water and earth bending respectively. He also applies it on a smaller scale to his own fights, using his surroundings and supplies to come up with ingenious plots. They don’t always work (IE Fire-Bending Bombs), but his rate of success has earned him the respect of his allies, despite his inability to bend elements.

What is also shown is that Sokka is a quick-study; he doesn’t have to read over documents for very long in order to remember the information almost exactly (suggesting a photographic memory), and within the period of three days he was able to pick up on sword fighting under a master in a feasible fighting style and, after barely examining wind currents and landscapes around him, is able to calculate the perfect angle to throw his boomerang and have it always hit its target. It is traits like this that make him a fearsome adversary in battle.

Sokka isn’t a teenager only raised in battle, however. He has a genuine love for his family, friends and home that withstands almost anything. It doesn’t seem to take much for Sokka to be attracted to a person’s personality either, and although he forms relationships quickly he takes every one of them very seriously and values them all as important. He is quick to judge when he dislikes someone as well, almost instinctive in his opinions but never quite forming his opinion on them until he sees those people in action. Well, in most cases.

For a long time Sokka has hated those in the fire nation for all that they have done to his village and people, although he has never let that hate blind him to the fact that the people of the Fire Nation are people just like him and those in his village. Although he was generally distrustful of them before the resolution of the war, he again chose to judge by action as opposed to lineage. If a person has wronged him in the past however, it takes proof, great action, and the thoughts of his friends in order for him to give those people a chance, let alone truly trust them again. As Zuko has proven, it isn’t an impossible thing to change Sokka’s mind, but it is a very difficult thing to accomplish.

He is growing more into a man who can better-hide his quirkier tendencies, but Sokka is still fairly high-strung and, for lack of a better word, cynical. It doesn’t take much in order to seemingly get on his nerves or to get him to complain and be sarcastic, such as when things don’t go according to his plans (restricted to outside the battlefield) or when he gets himself into a sticky situation that he can’t feasibly get out of. It seems he values this part of his identity as much as any other, as although he has stated that he would give it up if it would save his life at one point, he immediately refuted that when he was rescued by Aang and Toph. Normally it would be seen as a negative thing, but it’s Sokka’s obsession with detail and perfection that often gets the group through their adversities and pushes them forward with his quick wit, sarcastic commentary, and navigational planning, and by this point he’s more than aware of it. He wouldn’t trade any of his own traits for the world because of this.

It might seem like Sokka is always level-headed these days, and in most cases he is; even in emotionally heated moments among his friends, he tends to remain calm and neutral in trying to keep the peace among his sister and friends, knowing that emotions blinding you can be deadly if it happens at the wrong time. Unfortunately, for all his experience and maturity, he is also prone to getting overwhelmed by said emotions when his friends and family are threatened or wronged in some way. He will snap and act in anger, often saying or doing something that he later regrets in those brief outbursts of emotion. If anything, it just proves how much he cares about the people around him, but it is something that he has yet to grow out of in order to control more.

[When the feed clicks on, it shows that it’s laying on the ground and pointed at a boy no older than sixteen. It doesn’t seem like he’s even noticed that the gear’s on at the moment, and at the moment he’s busying himself with examining the red and white ball in his hand.]

That professor guy said this is a ‘pokéball’, right? Wonder what it does...

[It doesn’t take much poking before he finally decides to just push the button, and he’s startled when it grows, opens, and in a burst of light, releases a little yellow spider. Well, little in terms of pokémon, considering that for a spider it’s pretty big. And when it lands on his face, the boy does the only thing that makes sense to him; Grab it and fling it off.]

AGH! GET IT OFF GET IT OFF ME!!

[He’s breathing hard and rubbing at his face, shaking his head and frowning hard at the ball before he looks at the creature that came out. The sort of angry-looking creature that just got thrown into the side of a building, although the boy doesn’t seem to notice that just yet.]

Wait, you’re just a spider? Not a rhinoceros spider or a spider-mantis? Kinda weird, but I can deal with it. Kinda small to be useful though...

[Another yelp of surprise get startled out of him when the ‘spider’ starts blowing sticky thread at him, and before he knows it he’s trapped against the ground in a web. He struggles valiantly but to no use as the spider climbs onto his back and starts trying to cover him more.]

I take it back I take it back you’re great you’re amazing you’re super spider!!

[At last the bug seems satisfied, and instead of trying to suffocate his trainer he goes to his head and rests on top of him for a nap. That’s when the boy sighs, a little relieved but put out at the same time.]

You’re not gonna let me out, are you. Wait, what’s that?

[At last he notices the gear again, blinking owlishly a couple of times before he reaches for it, straining against the webbing but managing to grab it again.]

Huh, that light’s on. Wonder what it—

[The feed disconnects there.]

Third Person Sample: Maybe this place wasn’t so bad. The food was decent (aside from that bento thing that crazy ‘mom’ lady gave him. How dare she call it complete without any meat!?), the animals were kind of cool – well, when they weren’t trying to kill him anyway – and Katara was there. From what he’d heard, Zuko and some girl named Korra were there too, and from what Katara had been telling him she was Aang’s next life. Which was kind of freaky, and he’d have to figure out just how that worked. Or how this place worked and took people for that matter. It’d be something for him to work on while they were travelling and training and stuff. The world had a nice laid-back feeling to it though, as if it had never seen war. It made him worry about back home, and what his dad, Aang, Toph, Suki, and everyone else were up to, but... It felt like this was where he was needed right now. Katara was here, after all, and he had to look after his little sister still – even if she didn’t always think she needed it. He had to make sure she’d be ready to take on the things that she hadn’t learned to already herself, and big brothers were there to help with that until their little sisters were ready for it, right?

“Hey, the town’s there,” Sokka grinned to himself as he saw the horizon coming up in the distance, leaning on the side of the boat with his Joltik riding on his head. Okay, him and Super Spider had a rough start, but he thought they were sort of getting along now. He wasn’t getting hog-tied by spider webs anymore anyway. And the cruise to get over to this ‘Kanto’ place was really nice too, even if it was a little lonely. It gave him time to study up, and now he thought he sort of got how this world worked; there was a lot of fighting, sure, but it was all in fun and... Maybe they sort of needed that, to just have fun again. Not to mention Katara said that time pretty much stood still whenever they were there, and considering that he’d never noticed Katara going missing into a place like this back home... Well, he still had to figure out how that one worked, but he believed that it was true. What kind of a jerk wouldn’t believe his little sister about something like that?

At long last they reached the harbor, Sokka grabbing his things and stepping off of the ship before he caught sight of the familiar water-tribe girl, “Ready to meet my little sister, Super Spider?”

He heard a little hiss and just assumed that meant yes before he cupped one hand at the side of his mouth and called out, “Hey! Katara! We’re over here!”

Character
Name: Reeve Tuesti
Series: Final Fantasy VII Compilation
Timeline: Post ACC
Canon Resource Links: http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Reeve_Tuesti

Personality:
Reeve is a complex puzzle of a man whether people realize it or not. It possibly could even be said the man literally has two faces, one human and the other feline.

The human side is calm, collected and at times can seem to be rather stern in appearance. The man is rather intelligent as shown by his designing the layout of Midgar as well as the Mako reactors; not to mention his creation of Cait Sith, the robotic feline he often seems to treat both as something of an extension of himself; an alter-ego if you will, and at times something of a child of his.

The feline by contrast is rather vibrant, happy-go-lucky and can at times be a bit of a spazz. Having the ability to grant life to the robotic feline, Reeve has used the feline as a stand in for himself when he himself is unable to physically do things himself for any number of various reasons. Of course observing both the man himself and then the cat-like robot would lead one to wonder just how it is possible for the two to be so different without there possibly being an A.I. involved somehow.

Due to his well earned position as head of Urban Development, Reeve was deeply involved in the development of the city. Since he was the person behind almost all of Midgar, he is understandably concerned things that happen to it, though this is not only material as he has a sincere concern for the people who live within the city itself. This is why he was one of the very few who was upset enough to be against the destruction of the Sector 7 plate and the abandonment of those below it.

The company wasn't the only ones which upset him, he also directed his displeasure at the leader of the rebel faction he ended up dealing with. He understood in a sense WHY they did it, but he highly disapproved of their method of operation. Namely the violence they used and that they were willing to destroy people's lives for what they called the 'good of the planet'.

However despite the man's occasional bouts of resistance, Reeve was just as much a puppet for the company to control, as he controlled Cait Sith, at least until he got rather involved with the rebel crew. It's during that stint as a double agent that the man's conscience and thoughts grow troubled and upset enough that he finally decided to do something to help the people and the world, instead of allowing the company to placate him into non-action again.

Turning his attention to repairing the damage inadvertently done to the planet by the company's practices, Reeve created the World Regenesis Organization as a means to help the world heal, rebuild and to protect it from such devastation happening again. What the man has told no one is that the organization is also Reeve's personal atonement and method of redemption. The man has his own share of guilt in what has happened to the planet due to his creating and overseeing the building of the Reactors.

As for the man's alter-ego/child? Cait Sith is both like and almost completely opposite of Reeve at times. Somehow, despite the fact it is Reeve speaking through Cait, the feline's voice sounds nothing like his creator's, taking on various accents. The feline robot often acts rather carefree and laid-back, and has little problems in being loud and occasionally a bit obnoxious. He's as prone to call to attention bad habits as he is good. In a sense he often acts rather similar to a precocious child.

Cait Sith himself is admittedly no fighter, his small body is built more for reconnaissance work, slipping into places no flesh and blood person could go and get back out of alive with the information desired from the location or the people within it.

Unfortunately, despite this seemingly cheerful and friendly attitude displayed; the feline has shown briefly something of a darker side of the man controlling it. To ensure his continued inclusion within the rebel group, the feline reveals that he has had Barrett's daughter kidnapped from where she had been left to be held hostage despite his regrets of committing such a dirty act.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
+ Intelligent
+ Empathic
+ Considerable Engineering Capability, he's designed an entire city, reactors to power it, and built robotic felines and firearms.
+ Knows his way around computers
+ Capable of breathing life into and controlling nonliving objects via his "Inspire" ability (re: Caith Sith) [Will be Inactive]
+ Friendly and sociable

- Not that great a fighter, though he does know how to use firearms for self-defense.
- Fascination with anything mechanical can land him into trouble at times
- Pacifistic until he believes that fighting is the only viable answer to the situation
- Fortune telling
- Cats

[When the video feed comes on, there's a older man on the screen, though at first he seems to be a little distracted by something purring nearby. When he speaks, it doesn't actually seem directed at the video feed.]

At least the people here are kind enough to replace these devices, eh Cait? They even let me keep the first one, so perhaps I'll be able to figure out just what I did wrong in trying to put it back together.

[It's at this point that he seems to notice the video feed is on and recording and turns his attention from the violet feline on his lap to the screen of the gear. There's a bit of curiosity in his gaze at first, he's still curious as to how the device works exactly, but for now that curiosity is put on the back burner in favor of getting answers to other questions he has about this place.]

Hello, is there anyone out there who might answer a few questions of mine? I seem to have found myself in a strange situation with a somewhat equally strange companion.

Third Person Sample:
Reeve left a voicemail for Valeria to contact him when she had a free moment, stating that he had a favor to ask her. Shutting the phone down afterward, he considered the content and destination of the package he would be giving Valeria to deliver. The cat looked nothing like his usual Cait Sith's, but perhaps that was to be expected, considering the differences in the technology he was working with and the limitations he was dealing with here. Moving toward the table, Reeve set about making sure that everything was in working order once more. He wouldn't want Valeria to take this prototype to Goldenrod and find out it wouldn't work afterward.

Hopefully, the test run would go without a hitch. It was strange to build these feline robots and not be able to connect with them in the way he had with Cait back on Gaia. It had been a challenge to learn the new technology this place held. Reeve still remembered with some amusement how he'd wrecked the first PokéGear he'd been given upon trying to discover how it worked.

Hearing his phone ring suddenly, Reeve set the tools he had in hand aside and picked his phone up to answer it. "Reeve here."

Listening to Valeria identify herself and ask if she was still needed, Reeve seated himself in a chair across from the one Cait was seated in. "Yes. I'd like to have something taken up to Goldenrod if you wouldn't mind."

At her agreement to that, he considered the time difference between here and the destination he'd specified. He also considered the distance between where he was and the destination as well. "How soon can I expect to see you?"

The answer to that question gained a quiet chuckle out of the man and the next words were tinged with mirth. "I'll let you get started on that then. See you in an hour." Hanging the phone up, he laid it down and moved back over to finish his work on robotic feline.

Name: Rarity
Series: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
Timeline: After season 3
Canon Resource Links: Rarity bio at MLP wiki

Personality:
Rarity is an artist who happens to work with fabric rather than words or paint. Since she was a filly, Rarity has expressed herself through fashion, designing clothes as early as for her school plays. In particular, she has an eye for the exquisite; her special talent is locating gems, and she frequently uses these on her clothing to increase their value and sense of class. Rarity prides herself on being a lady, and has aspirations to be part of high society in Equestria's capital city of Canterlot.

Rarity is something of an entrepreneur with regards to her art; she runs her own fashion boutique in the town of Ponyville, and designs, makes, and sells all of her own items from there. Her true love of fashion does not just seem to stem from the craft of creating nice clothes, though; Rarity loves how fashion can make a pony feel good, and creating this sensation in others. Rarity frequently designs clothes for, insists on makeovers with, and goes to the spa with her friends. As the Element of Generosity within her friend circle, Rarity sometimes struggles with being too selfish or self-absorbed, but she will usually think of her friends first.

Rarity has en eye for detail. While she is not as obsessive-compulsive as Twilight, she will notice if something is wrong with her friends, such as when Rainbow Dash has stage fright, or if something is out of place, as witnessed by her spotlessly clean boutique. Along with her aspirations for high class, Rarity is something of a romantic, hoping that she will one day meet a Prince Charming to whisk her off her hooves. This is not to say Rarity fancies herself a damsel in distress, though. Quite the opposite; she has her wits about her in a tough situation, and has proven herself in combat many times over.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
+ Can use unicorn magic to levitate objects, create simple illusions, or - her specialty - find hidden gems.
+ Some combat ability.
+ Can use her charms to get others to do what she wants.
+ Eye for detail
+ Creative
+ Often generous
- Drama pony
- Loves to be in the spotlight
- Sometimes greedy or self-absorbed

Can anypony hear me? Twilight, Rainbow Dash? Rainbow, if this is one of your and Pinkie's pranks, you've gone too far this time! It's bad enough I'm some sort of monkey, but this!

[ She displays her bare forehead. ]

This is the absolute limit!! How am I supposed to be a unicorn without a horn? Can I even call myself a unicorn, anymore? Shall I forever and henceforth be known as Rarity the nonicorn? Is that even a word?

Will somepony please tell me what is going on??

Third Person Sample:

Rarity had been walking for a long time.

She normally wouldn't deign to stoop to an excess of physical activity. What was she, a common mule? (Well, besides the fact that she was distinctively less equine-shaped since arriving in this new world.) But this was important: the city was where she might find her friends, if the directions Pinkie Pie had given her were actually reliable this time.

She gazed in wonder at the magnificent skyscrapers. She hadn't seen anything so imposing since the very castle of Canterlot. Surely only the highest class of ponies -- or, of people now -- lived here. And since nobody went around naked, there were so many more opportunities for Rarity to continue her fashion business -- just in a more upright fashion.

What luxurious gowns she could create, if only she could find the right fabrics! On her way she'd encountered so many varieties of fantastic creatures, of as many colors as the citizens of Equestria, and in a hundred times as many shapes. Her first Pokemon, a Petilil, was a leafy little thing, bulbous in the middle, in the sort of colors Rarity would normally drape over Fluttershy. She thought she could make something that evoked the Petilil's shape without being unflattering. WIth a new bipedal canvas to work with, Rarity anticipated this to pose a fascinating challenge.

But in the meantime, she shook her head to clear her thoughts and looked at the city once again. If her friends were within -- and by all accounts, the other five had been together here for some time before she'd arrived -- she meant to find them as soon as possible. As important as new clothing design was to her, and as exciting as those possibilities were, she'd be lying if she said she didn't miss them. And what were clothes, really, without someone to appreciate her work?

Taking a deep breath, she took her first step into the city.

Character
Name: Jack Frost
Series: Rise of the Guardians
Timeline: post-movie
Canon Resource Links: Jack at the RotG wiki
RotG at the regular Wikipedia

One note: Jack’s age is never officially given in the canon (yet, at least), but is listed variously as either 14 or 17. Since the creator of the series says he’s 14, that’s what I go with.

Personality:
While Jack has seen a great many things and been a great many places in the 300 years since he died, he’s still very much stuck in the body and mind of a teenage boy. He’s just as rash and impulsive and moody and prone to bouts of foolishness as any average 14-year-old, not to mention the easy sarcasm of a teenager who assumes he must be smarter than all the adults around him. His life is a permanent snowday and he’s just fine with no more responsibility than he chooses to give himself. As Jack himself puts it when he first meets the other Guardians, they’re “hard work and deadlines, and I’m snowballs and fun times.” He’s also a 14-year-old who’s spent 300 years effectively alone, unable to be seen by the children that he enjoys spending time around and making happy. Most of the time, he keeps himself entertained and distracted, but the isolation does occasionally leave him open to darker moods and loneliness. Even the moon, which gave him his powers and his name, never spoke to him again. To some extent, before he joins them, he views the other Guardians with resentment, believing that they receive all the praise and love of children despite never spending any real time around children like he does. He even amuses himself by causing them trouble, such as by starting “the Blizzard of ‘68” on Easter Sunday, much to the annoyance of Bunnymund the Easter Bunny.

Through the events of the movie, Jack discovers his Center and the purpose the Man in the Moon had for creating him, as well as gaining his memories of his life before he died and became Jack Frost the winter spirit. When he was still alive, he saved his sister by pushing his own fear aside and making a game out of getting her to safety. His actions ended up getting him killed, but that same courage and quick thinking have since served him well. As the Guardian of Fun, and with children who finally believe in him and can see him, Jack also has more of a purpose and drive than he ever had before. Jack isn’t afraid of being stubborn when he wants to get his way, which combines with a competitive streak a mile long and that innate teenage belief that he’s always right to make a dangerous combination.

Although Jack is fully capable of being responsible if there’s a good reason in it for him, such as helping one of his fellow Guardians, he much prefers goofing off and having fun. His very favorite activity is giving kids a snow day, so that they can spend the day goofing off and having fun with him, whether they can see him or not. He’s less fond of adults as they can’t see him and tend to have lost the sense of fun that kids have, so while he’ll start a snowball fight or make the perfect conditions for sledding for a child, when his attentions stray to adults, they tend to result in things that are more fun for him than the adult. A suddenly slippery patch of ice where it was clear sidewalk before, or a gust of wind that destroys a carefully-raked pile of leaves are both in his arsenal of tricks. He’s not malicious, and he wouldn’t go so far as to actually hurt someone deliberately, but his ideas tend to stop at ‘I’ll have fun doing that!’ without always considering the person on the other side. That lack of forethought can get him in trouble, especially when paired with his impulsiveness, and even more especially when they keep him from following or recognizing good advice from people who really do know better. Fortunately for him, the same creativity and sense of fun that lets a child look at a stick and see a horse or a sword or a thousand other things, gives Jack the ability to think on his feet in ways that an adult maybe wouldn’t, which helps balance out his more regrettable decisions.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
+Resourceful
Anything can be a game or a toy to a child, and Jack has adapted that resourcefulness to serve him well in good times and bad.

+Fun
The Guardian of Fun is nothing if not a mood-maker. He can brighten the worst of days with a well-played joke or just being a cheerful presence.

+Adaptable
He takes most things pretty well in stride. Suddenly waking up with ice powers? Awesome! Getting his memories back and realizing he’d once had a family? Cool, but still gotta save the world! Accidentally helping the bad guy ruin Easter? Okay, that one slows him down a bit, but then it’s right back on the horse.

+Protective
When he was still human, Jack died saving his little sister, and that much hasn’t changed about him since. He’ll do whatever it takes to protect anyone he cares about.

+/- Stubborn
Jack is stubborn as the day is long, to borrow an old phrase. This can help him remain steady in the face of overwhelming odds, but it also tends to send him headfirst into terrible ideas.

+/- He’s a 300-year-old teenager
This is both the biggest positive and the hugest negative, for numerous reasons. Is it possible to be both up on current events and completely behind the times? Somehow, Jack manages. He may know all the current trends and cool bits of tech... but he’s never used any of them. Being invisible makes it kind of hard to pose for pictures, and who would he call with a cell phone? He’s filled with eternal teenage snark, and he’s been around enough years to figure out the best possible prank ideas, plus he’s forever young enough to think they’re hilarious. And even centuries of faith in his abilities can’t shake the innate teenage fear that everyone is secretly judging him.

+/- Trusting
He tends to have the mindset of ‘if they aren’t actively trying to kill me, how bad could they be?’ It’s not that he’s stupid, far from it, or even really naive per se. He knows bad people exist, and he does have a usually reliable sense of self-preservation (as much as he needs one, being dead and all), it’s just that his own years of never being believed in makes him hesitant to do the same to others. He tends to trust people right up to (and sometimes after) he’s been shown otherwise. That’s great for meeting new people, since he’ll make friends with just about anyone given half a chance, but it also means he’s the sort that believes the Team Rocket villain’s sob-story monologue and doesn’t realize till after that he’s missing his Pokemon wallet and a kidney.

-Childish
Jack is ultimately still very young. It shows in his childish pranks and aversion to responsibility. In fact, really, his childish everything.

-Afraid of being forgotten
After so long being visible only to other spirits and inhuman beings, Jack’s greatest fear is being alone and invisible with no one believing in him.

-Caution? What’s that?
Look before you leap? Jack might as well have never even heard such an expression. Where would be the fun in that?

-Impulsive
Jack isn’t stupid, far from it, but sometimes his actions really are. Chasing off after the bad guy all by himself only seems like a good idea if you don’t think about it at all first.

[The angle when the gear turns on is... strange. Like it’s being held by someone too distracted to pay attention to where it might be pointing. There’s part of a chin, a shoulder, and plenty of scenery. The top of a whitish blob flops past the bottom of the screen. From the sound it makes, it must be a Seel.]

This is really weird. You know that?

[The Seel gives a cheerful affirmative from somewhere. Suddenly, the picture shifts, moving erratically until it stops with a soft thud as the gear is dropped and lands in the grass. At least it has a good view, now, framing most of a boy in his teens, crouching on his toes next to a backpack as he rummages through it, occasionally pulling things out for a closer look. His blue hooded sweatshirt has seen better days, and his pants don’t seem to be from quite the right century. Together with the ice-white hair, it makes something of an odd picture.]

If this is... Naw, it’s way too cutesy to be one of Pitch’s tricks.

[He looks up, past the gear at where the sounds of the Seel are coming from. His smile grows, just a bit.]

You sure you’re not a Selkie?

[A negative. The gear is nudged closer, and he laughs as he reaches for it.]

Okay, okay. Remind me to introduce you to Sandy sometime.

Third Person Sample:
Jack stared up at the sky, doing his best to mentally drown out the quiet music that seemed to follow him everywhere. He got the impression it did that to everyone, though, so it got to be the least of his concerns right now.

He was perched in the crook of a tree, hands behind his head as he braced his back against the trunk and his legs on one of the larger branches, about ten feet closer to the ground than he’d like. Even getting that far had been a challenge, though, without the wind and his powers helping him. He hadn’t realized just how much he’d relied on them until now.

Down below, somewhere in the shadow of the tree, he could hear Phil snoring. He grinned to himself, pleased. The real Phil wouldn’t appreciate the sentiment, of course, but hey, what he didn’t know probably wouldn’t kill him. Not that he’d find out unless Jack found a way out of here. Now there was a sobering thought.

“There’s got to be some big plan in play here, right? Some really important plan that makes absolutely no sense at all?” Of course, Manny wasn’t in the sky here, and even if he was, Jack knew there likely wouldn’t have been an answer, anyway. Luckily, he was no stranger to talking to himself. Except he didn’t have to, now, did he?

He swung himself forward to straddle the branch, looking around until he spotted Phil. “Not that you can talk.”

Phil looked up, barking reproachfully. Jack laughed. “Okay, how about I can’t listen? How’s that?”

The Seel made a happier sound, flopping in a circle before looking up at Jack again, expectantly this time. “What? Someone stuck in a well?”

“Seel!”

“Cat got your tongue?”

“SEEL!”

He grinned, swinging down to hang from the branch and drop to his feet in a crouch. He could remember doing that plenty of times when he’d still been alive, but a memory didn’t make it feel any less strange when the wind wasn’t there to catch him. Once he’d caught his balance, he stood and stretched, before flicking Phil’s horn lightly with his fingers. “And yet, somehow you still make more sense than Bunny.” He grabbed his backpack and slung it on. “Come on. There’s got to be something fun around here somewhere, right?”

“Seel!”

Character
Name: Morgiana
Series: Magi (Manga adaption)
Timeline: Post chapter 134 (end of the Pirates Arc, before World Exploration Arc)
Canon Resource Links: Morgiana @ the Magi Wiki

Personality: Strength. The Fanalis are renowned for their strength and Morgiana is no exception. She wasn't always strong though--at one point in her life, she was forced to endure the whims of a cruel master.

Most of her childhood remains a mystery as thinking back on her life before slavery was beaten from her until she was practically lifeless. Realizing even as a child that there was no one who was going to save her from her master Jamil, she began to fear him to the point where she would do anything he asks of her. Morigana was terrified of the repercussions that came with disobeying him because the punishment was always worse than anything anyone else can inflict upon her. Having grown up under his "care", she began to develop feelings for him. Not ordinary ones of love and tenderness, but instead pity as she sympathizes with her captor. This is prominently displayed whenever he forces her to fight Aladdin and Alibaba as they can't comprehend why she wants to help someone who's done nothing but give her rotten memories.

Even as a slave she carries her pride with her and it's that alone that convinces Goltas to confide in her the cruel acts he's had to inflict due to their shared master. Listening to another slave who was much like herself tell her these things stirred something within Morgiana and even when he breaks the chains that bind her as a slave (as well as take Jamil with him as the dungeon collapses), he begins to weaken the mental chains.

Those are Morgiana's greatest fault after all. When fear is instilled in you for years at the thought of running away, she found herself unable to do so even when the opportunity presents itself. The combined efforts of the friends she makes in the first dungeon (the one Amon resides in) and the dying wish of Goltas are what convince her to take the first step towards her freedom. Even still, she finds herself troubled by these thoughts. Suffering from nightmares of reliving the past, she has trouble sleeping. It's only when dawn breaks does she dream of Goltas who convinces her that she is now free to do with her life as she pleases.

Unfortunately there are times she still acts like a slave. Generally quiet, her stoicism tends to ward people away and when that fails, the color of her hair does. When communicating with others, she's brief with her words and instead communicates with body language. Often she stands with her hands clasped behind her back (a habit from being a slave), but can move her arms around when she's excited. She's quick to fall to the earth, placing her forehead against the dirt, or bow at whim--a habit she's still trying to break herself free of.

As time goes by, her mood begins to seep through the iron mask of solitude. When she's upset, she's prone to pouting (such as when Sinbad insists that she stays behind instead of joining a fight) or by stomping her foot into the ground to create cracks (or mini craters). Most of her anger is displayed childishly, a hint that she's still mentally stunted when it comes to social situations and that she has a lot of growing up to do.

While she doesn't necessarily confess to being brave, her actions tend to say otherwise. Whenever there was a band of thieves threatening an entire caravan from being able to pass safely, Morgiana approached their headquarters on her own to ask them to leave. When they refused, she began to beat them up one by one until she was caught off-guard. Even though she has the strength of a Fanalis, she doesn't have the experience to think of sly tactics in battle. Easily bested by tranquilizer, she's captured and threatened with the prospect of going back into slavery. It's during this time she meets a young girl who happens to be around the same age Morgiana was whenever she became a slave and this is what essentially leads to her being free of the mental chains Jamil placed upon her. Realizing that she now has to save the life of a young girl from experiencing what she's gone through, Morgiana breaks free of her fears and becomes more passionate in doing what she believes to be right.

She's no longer a slave anymore. Morgiana is her own person to do what she wants and to go where she pleases.

Her relationships with others are what really define Morgiana's personality and are the main source of her strange quirks. Finding herself enamored with Alibaba's kindness when he buys all of Jamil's slaves to free them, Morgiana silently devotes herself to him, essentially replacing one master with a new one. Even when he leaves her to wander on her own, she thinks of her constantly and from his presence draws a new kind of strength. Harboring a crush on him, she feels elevated whenever he compliments her and disappointed whenever he fails to notice her. He's the only person who's capable of shoving food in her mouth and getting away with it. Aladdin is someone who's asked her to protect him and even gives her the nickname "Mor", which she accepts without too much trouble. Both of these individuals help her warm up to communicating and being around others.

To them, she is their wings. To her, they are her everything.

Everything or not, she's still willing to throw them at each other (quite literally) in order to keep their little trio held together. When she finally accepts that she doesn't need their permission to fight alongside them, their friendship solidifies.

There is a more gentle side to this stoic girl that's rarely seen. Morgiana's softer side first peeks through during the first dungeon arc whenever Morgiana is instructed to watch over a captive Aladdin. Since it is by her master's orders, she stands by uncaring and unwavering in the younger boy's attempts to get her to speak with him due to the fear instilled in her after years of abuse. Aladdin's efforts are rewarded when she giggles and tries to cover it up, denying it whenever he brings it up. Likely, that was the first time her mask has cracked in years and in time after their escape, both Alibaba and Aladdin work in getting her to dispose of it entirely. While Morgiana doesn't understand most jokes, she does have a tendency to blush and grow shy whenever Alibaba compliments her.

When it comes to being cared for by others, she doesn't exactly comprehend these feelings. When proposed to by Hakuryuu who insists she should become his empress, she has trouble turning him down. Unaware of her own conflicting emotions, she falls back into the same mantra she chanted before. That because she was a slave, she can never become anything as great as that. When she realizes she can't say anything right in this situation, she pleads with him to speak with Alibaba and Aladdin instead, because they are far greater at words than herself, further hinting that she has trouble in dealing with personal situations.

Another quirk of Morgiana's is that she's strange. When asked how she can be of better use to Alibaba and Aladdin (to grow stronger), she's told that she should use a Household Vessel. Her first choice is something Alibaba suggests (naturally), a pair of gnarly manifers, which isn't ideal for her combat style. When told it should be something she's worn a long time, her default is to settle on the shackles she used to wear around her ankles. Yes, she essentially asks for her chains to be placed upon her, but this time they aren't cold metal. This time, in her eyes, they are full of kindness of those she's met.

But that's Morgiana for you. She'll view the softness of others, be grateful for it, and not once realize that she expresses those very same traits. In the end, she's just a child who's trying to regain her footing and find a place in the world that she feels comfortable at.

Strengths/Weaknesses:

+ Physical strength: Morgiana displays this extraordinarily even when limited due to her bloodline. Early on, she was capable of carrying seven people at once and could snap very handcuffs meant to chain people of her kind. Since training, she's capable of doing even more.
+ Stamina: She has an incredible amount of this to the point where she can fight and train non-stop in Johto with a minimal amount of sleep. That's with the 50% debuff applied.
+ Vocal: While Morgiana rarely speaks, her voice can be used in a number of ways. Frightening, it's easy for her to spook away animals with just her battle cry alone. Another use shown is to scream and listen to the echos to determine her surroundings.
+ Enhancements: Much like an animal, she can use her nose to sniff out familiar scents. Along with her hearing being amped up, Morgiana is also capable of moving quickly, meaning that she can intercept attacks or pull people out of danger.
- Chained: A theme often associated with her, Morgiana was a slave for most of her life and as a result has painful memories of being incapable of doing anything. This can cripple her mentality and cause her to be incapable of doing anything if pressured by it.
- Communication: Morgiana isn't the best at conveying her thoughts easily, nor can she provide comfort to others.
- Anxiety: Due to her trouble past, she suffers from nightmares of the abuse inflicted upon her, as well as other things. She doesn't do well whenever her parents are brought up and she likely will have trouble accepting she's in a strange world away from her goals.
- Canon Point: Due to the point in canon she's coming from, Morgiana is going through tremendous stress as she tries to understand Hakuryuu's proposal, as well as feeling troubled that the manner Alibaba speaks to girls resembles everything that the prince said to her previously. She doesn't understand if she's truly loved or if this is just something guys say to other girls to make them feel special.

... [ At first it may appear that the girl broadcasting is unaware that it's recording--that's why there's the silence, right? An easy assumption to make, save for whenever her red eyes shift to the side nervously. ] Hi.

[ The word comes out without a squeak, but it's clear she doesn't know what to say or do. After a painfully long minute: ]

My name is Morgiana. I have never heard of Johto or Kanto, are these regions anywhere near the Kou Empire? [ They sound like they belong there. ]

Like many others, I'm looking for my allies. They're Alibaba, Aladdin, Sinbad--[ She pauses, as though to consider who else she should ask for. ]--oh, Hakuryuu too. T-Thank you for your time!

[ Was that a hint of something other than stoicism in her eyes with that last name? Whatever it was, it's as fleeting as her message as she raises a hand to turn off the PokeGear. ]

Third Person Sample: [ PROSE ]

Home was a strange concept to Morgiana and even now as she travels the route leading away from New Bark Town, she thinks on everything MOM said to her. The experience didn't leave her wanting; she's dealt with a "mother" recently and as a result, the term left a sour taste in her mouth.

It doesn't surprise her that she's here alone. Before her arrival, she just said goodbye to the others as they all had their own goals in mind. For Morgiana, the Dark Continent was where her adventure was to be had. Not this place.

Johto. The name was starting to stir something within her. Glancing down, at her side was a small bird with hair that reminds her of Alibaba. A stray feather here or there, as he flutters his wings happily at eye contact. This was her Pokemon and if he ever disobeyed, she can return it to a Pokeball.

Not the one she had before, of course. No, she accidentally crushed that one in an attempt to free the Pokemon from hi's cruel slavery. After a hour of "Shoo!" and quiet whimpers of "Please go.", Morgiana found herself accepting that the strange creature was bound to be at her side no matter what. She's not sure why, but he seems to be chirpier (as that's the only word she can think to describe him) whenever she speaks with him. Were they bonding?

What was bonding anyways? Morgiana's not sure of it herself. At first she thought she needed permission to spend time with her friends, but by now she's discovered that friendship wasn't something that can be bought or given with permission. Simply, it was something that just happened.

So was that happening here? Was she going to become friends with this little guy? She pauses, bare feet in mud as she stares down at him.

"You're getting muddy." Morgiana was as well, but she never thought to look at her own feet in these matters. Traveling through rain, snow, desert--none of that mattered as her feet were like shoes themselves. "Cold too. We should make a camp for the day."

That seems to excite her Pokemon more as the Torchic happily stomps into the mud, splashing it up around his talons. Yes, they'll stop her for the night and she'll attempt to make it shoes out of something. Leaves? So long as she can blame her reluctance on wanting to leave the place all newcomers arrive at on insignificant things, then no suspicion will be drawn. Besides, with the rain coming down as hard as it was, she does have to look out for this little guy. That's her responsibility now. While most trainers may have sought to just place them back within the Pokeball, Morgiana herself knew one thing in this world of confusion.

She will never confine anything just as she had been. No Pokeballs. No chains. No leashes. Only freedom to travel at her side if they wanted.

When she got to traveling, that is. Maybe she'll just linger here a little longer in case of a friend showing up. Yes, that's alright for her. While most sought shelter from the rain, she sought the rain as shelter for her own deeds.

Character
Name: Kovu
Series: The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride
Timeline: Post-movie.
Canon Resource Links: Here!

Personality:
To say the least, Kovu is a male lion. As expected, he can be aggressive, territorial, etc.. He has been humanized, of course, but, with maintaining the aforementioned traits, this may only set him up as a typical bully who doesn't want you to touch his things. While this understanding of him is not entirely innaccurate, it is only one aspect of Kovu; he can also be quite compassionate, kind, even loving. He has some specific inspirations for his day-to-day life, and he is quite the brave and heroic type when push comes to shove, having developed a strong sense of what is right and wrong, despite a past shrouded in darkness.

Kovu may come off as...kind of a jerk. He has been known to go out of his way to harrass people, finding great amusement in teasing people. He loves to joke around, often at the expense of others, though he is not necessarily a malicious sort of person (or, er...lion). One way to earn some respect with him is to take his jokes lightly; he finds it extremely annoying when people get incredibly offended or aggressive over his teasing (even though he has been known to do that very thing when other people try teasing him). Though Kovu can be quite hot-headed, immature, naive, etc., he is actually quite intelligent. He is able to look at situations calmy and clinically when he has to. He is also good at thinking quickly, and for every risky situation that he gets himself into, there is one that he can find a way out of. It is because of this intelligence that Kovu cannot only be a powerful asset, but also a dangerous weapon. Though he does enjoy manipulating people, he has proven himself to be very good at it. His mother instilled this talent in him as a young cub and trained him to be spiteful and untrusting. Unfortunately, these qualities still shine through at times. But, in general, Kovu is a trustworthy individual, a natural leader, and a useful addition to any team.

Still, while Kovu normally takes his time thinking out solutions to his problems, he can be quite headstrong and passionate in certain situations. Kovu can have a short temper, and if someone truly angers him, he will find it hard to let it go. He's a grudge-holder and a revenge-seeker, as he was raised to be. Having been raised to kill, he knows some tricks that make him more of a threat than the average carnivore, so most people probably won't want to get on his bad side. Getting angry and rushing into a conflict without taking the time to think it through can be one of his biggest downfalls.

You will find that Kovu will get the most aggressive if someone is threatening his mate or his family in any way. Kiara is truly the most important thing in the world to Kovu. She is his main inspiration, and though they can argue as much as any couple, they are portrayed as the stereotypical 'meant-to-be' pair in his canon. If someone so much as insults her, Kovu is likely to become extremely angry, and if anyone dared to threaten or attack her, Kovu would be at their throats in an instant. A situation such as this would be the main reason for Kovu to rush into a fight without thinking about it beforehand, and if you're looking to push Kovu's buttons, that would be the button to push.

Though Kovu would be miserable without Kiara, he is the type of guy who would use that misery to inspire him further. Upon arriving in the Pokemon world, instead of letting their separation impair him, he will only work harder in his efforts to get back to Kiara. Of course, he is only human(you know what I mean). There are definitely times where Kovu can feel down and depressed, but he is not likely to show it to anyone. You may have already expected this, but Kovu is also one of those guys who doesn't like to show any emotion that would pin him as 'weak'. This is understandable, of course; his entire life was spent training to be the strongest, the best, the most feared. Showing any sign of weakness was a huge downfall for him, and though he is now living a happy life where that pressure has been lifted, it is still instilled in him that he should not break down in anyway unless it is in front of someone that is extremely trustworthy.

Even so, Kovu is not without compassion. He may be a jerk or a jokester around his friends (or to complete strangers), but he has also developed a strong sense of what is right and wrong through his trials; seeing an innocent person in need will pull at his heart-strings. Watching blatant injustice occur will get a reaction out of Kovu, and the natural hero that he has become will try to come to the rescue of whoever is in need. This especially applies to children and women, since he seems to have a general distaste for men. This opinion of males
probably stems from his most basic animalistic instinct. In nature, a lion's pride is made up of one male lion, children, and several lionesses. The only way another male lion can join the pride is if he kills the male lion that is currently the leader of that pride. Though Kovu's canon bends this rule slightly, he is still left with an instinctual threat-system when it comes to males of his own relative age. This does not necessarily cause him to mistreat other males, but he is more wary of them.

Though Kovu is the type of guy to defend anyone that he sees as innocent, he will be especially protective of his friends/family. But becoming Kovu's friend is not as simple as it may seem. Though he may be kind to you or even let you confide in him, to be truly considered a friend to Kovu, he would have to trust you entirely, which is a rare occurence for him. But, fear not, you can work your way up to becoming one of Kovu's friends, as long as you do nothing to betray his trust. It is this intricate system which he has created for the adding of friends that leaves him so protective of the ones he has. You see, to be Kovu's friend means that you are someone extremely special to him, and his fear of losing that relationship is enough to give you a life-long protector.

Kovu's feels extremely conflicted when it comes to his former family. Though his sister, Vitani, is still alive and lives in his pride with him, their relationship is strained because of her participation in his mother's offense against him. His brother Nuka, mother Zira, and adoptive father Scar have all died. He has to live with a light guilt for the death of his brother and mother, since they perished in the war between his current family and his old one, and the conflict surrounding his father goes to an even deeper level.

As a young cub, Kovu was hand-chosen by Scar to become his successor. Though he was favored by Scar, the man who he called his father is the one that decided he would be raised to be a murderer. He loved his father, even if their relationship was a disturbing one, and has wondered on more than one occassion about the man's well-being in the afterlife. Though he knows now that what Scar taught him was wrong, he still believes that Scar had some good qualities to him, and that he would've been a good person if his mind weren't so disturbingly altered by jealousy and rage. Even with this thought, Kovu still fears the he will become his father one day; of course, after he "marries" Kiara and permanently joins Simba's pride, this fear is stifled a little, but it will forever linger in the back of his head. I have no doubt that the fear of becoming Scar is the greatest fear that Kovu will ever experience (other than, perhaps, the fear of losing his dear Kiara).

Kovu is a creature that lets challenges inspire him to do better; he see's fear and pain as a reason to work harder and accomplish what he needs to accomplish. Though he can be headstrong, short-tempered, and agressive, he can also be kind, affectionate, protective, and clever. His flaws are not few, but he also has outstanding assets, and once he becomes your friend, he is your friend for life.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
I have said before that Kovu can be a strong asset as well as a grave danger, depending on the situation. He is very intelligent and clever, but can use this intelligence to use and manipulate people. He has been trained from the time he was very young to fight and kill; depending on who you are, this can either be a good thing or a bad thing. Of course, being raised to hate and hurt can do a lot to a person, and Kovu has the emotional scars to prove it (as well as some physical ones). Kovu feels a lot of inner-turmoil when it comes to his mother, father, and siblings. He has a lot of fear when it comes to his father and the similarities between them; he does not want to become Scar. Other people fear this as well, and after being exiled from Simba's pride in the middle of the movie, as well as his previous pride, Kovu definitely has some insecurities and fears about fitting in and being accepted. By the end of the movie, these insecurities are more or less settled, but it is still an adjustment for the man.

Speaking of adjustments, being thrown into this new and confusing setting will definitely be a trail for Kovu. Becoming human will take a great deal of his physical strength away. He won't be able to walk correctly at first, will be at a loss as to using technology, will not know what foods to eat without his ability to hunt, etc.. The new setting will be all the more overwhelming, and being separated indefinitely from Kiara and the rest of his family will definitely be a struggle. But because one of Kovu's biggest strengths is his perserverance, he will adapt as necessary and do everything he can to get back home to the Pridelands.

First Person Sample:

(Taken as a second or third post.)

[The feed flickers on and, as usual, Kovu has some time positioning it before it finally settles on his face, looking none-too-pleased with the effort. You've gotta give the guy some credit. After all, he's only been a human for...what? A week now? He really has adjusted to using the Pokegear pretty well in that time...

[But, that doesn't make it any less frustrating. And working on an empty stomach? Doesn't help.]

This stuff?

[Holding up an open tube of toothpaste, the top messy with the caked-on goop.]

Is disgusting. I know you humans will eat just about anything, but I cannot take your food any more...

[Bluh.]

Does anyone know where I can hunt? I tried taking down a rattata yesterday, but...

[An exasperated huff.]

Look, I can't just eat a pokemon, okay? [Concurs his skitty with a rather horrified background-mew] So...if any of you know where I can find any antelope, wildabeast...anything, just...

[Sigh.]

Let me know?

Third Person Sample:

(Taken from his arrival.)

It takes a moment for his eyes to adjust. But...just what are they adjusting to? Color, first of all. Bright, vivid, blinding color. And then? He couldn't even tell you. It's so much to take in that it actually takes a moment for him to start feeling overwhelmed...

...and then it's all downhill from there.

Monkeys? Apes? He doesn't even know what. Just these...tall, bald creatures, wandering around all decked in...what? It's a mystery. And, if he had to judge by their own facial expressions (which, granted, he's not terribly concerned with at the moment), he'd say they're all just about as confused as he is...

It's only after a few minutes that he finally ventures a glance down at himself. Why? Because something just...doesn't feel right...Maybe it's because he feels a bit chilly, or maybe it's the fact that that instinctual growl didn't quite leave his throat the right way...Maybe he just wants to make sure that he's still in tact. After all, with these strange creatures wandering around this strange, technicolor landscape...wouldn't you be a little shaken too?

There's no reassurance in what he sees. Brown, lean, naked flesh, unfamiliar toes that he's sure he can't be wiggling right now but...somehow is anyway. And then, his paws-- no, his hands...his hands? It can't be...he doesn't even know what it is, but he knows that it can't be...

"H-hey!" he shouts, attempting to stand up, but realizing that...if these new legs really do belong to him...he no longer knows how to use them. His hands fly to the ground, now level with his knees; he attempts to get his feet where they are. It works for a moment (not without some giggles from the people around him), his rump high in the air, no tail to be spoken of. But he can't seem to keep his balance long enough to walk, falling sideways to the ground after only a few seconds.

"What the--" he groans in frustration, attempting his crawl again, then again, then again, until...finally, whether it be out of inherited human instinct or some benevolent god's mercy, he somehow launches himself onto two legs instead of the familiar four. Slightly startled by the new position, he goes stumbling into the nearest building, hands flying up to brace himself against its wall.
What is going on? He can't even stand long enough to figure it out, yet the entire time his mind has been reeling...Kiara...has she met this fate as well? And the Pridelands...What's become of them? How did he get here when only seconds ago he was there, happy, peaceful, finally moving past all of the turmoil...

He can barely focus on being angry with all that's going on around him. Dozens of other...what exactly is he now? They all seem to be asking the same questions that he is, though...without the physical trouble. His eyes are still burning, his head aching from the sensory overload, and his legs wobbling, desperately trying to find balance.

He slides down against the side of the building, sprawling out on the ground and closing his eyes, fingers (?) going to his temple, for...some reason...Great. Now he can't even make sense of his own mannerisms.

He takes a deep breath, chest rising, sliding against the fabric that covers it, yet another unfamiliarity. He tries to think, to put it all together, to just...calm down for a minute and sort out what to do next.

But that's much easier said than done.

Character
Name: Skipper
Series: Barbie: Life in the Dreamhouse
Timeline: Sometime post Gone Glitter Gone (current last ep)
Canon Resource Links: Skipper at the Barbie wiki, and also TvTropes!

Personality: In many ways, Skipper embodies the (stereo)typical teenager of our generation. She's almost constantly engaged in social media of some kind and can always be seen with a gadget on hand, such as her phone or tablet. She texts her friends (of which she has several), runs a blog (which allegedly has 57 283 followers) and plays games on these pieces of technology whenever a dull moments pops up. She's social and friendly and it shows in the way she involves herself in activities with others and asks if people wants to join, even if her manner of friendliness is teasing more often than not and she has a tendency for dry humour or remarks.

She displays a penchant for gossip and drama to follow this up with - while not very malicious in any way (...this is Barbie, after all), she gleefully spreads information about some friends to another and starts a "competition" between Barbie's friends to see who is the better one. In keeping with this fairly shallow first impression, she also gets frustrated and huffy when asked to do something she doesn't want to, and has called her jobs the "hardest" for this reason despite these tasks being very simple.

But beneath all that, she's shown to be perhaps the most mature of the Barbie sisters, at least in some situations: she was quick to praise her youngest sister when she let her pet dolphins go back to the ocean following a series of more or less diastrous events, and was also the one to gently coax her into making that decision. She seems to not only be comfortable in the role of a big sister - she likes it, too. Along with this she seems to be the most attentive doll in the cast, often reminding Barbie of past jobs and skills she's had and as a bonus being the only one to hear the laugh track added in one episode. It's possible that she picked both this attention and wit up from playing video games and from keeping such an extensive social network; it shapes both her reflexes and attention and social skills, respectively.

It's of note that Skipper at times feels a bit uncertain about herself and the official description states that she's not sure whether or not to "do what Barbie does or do the last thing Barbie would do". She asks why everything has to be pink but is shown with several pink items and clothes. Of course, this isn't unusual in a little sister looking up to her older one, and not in a teenager who's trying to find herself either. While mostly sure of herself, she keeps Barbie - who is intensely successful at everything she does - in the back of her head as an uncertain frame of reference. She'd like to get the attention of boys, for example, but doesn't seem to know how and quickly lets the topic go once breached.

Aside from this and perhaps most importantly, Skipper is very creative and quickly gets enthusiastic about things that lie in her interests. She likes gaming and technology, as previously mentioned, and is an aspiring tech guru, wanting to learn how things work and what they do. She's also into film making and has made several short films starring her friends, family and pets, and would like to get somewhere big with this hobby one day. She builds things; while these machines/gadgets are prone to malfunction at first they function well after a period of trial and error. As a paranthesis, this is the reason she hasn't been able to hold down a job (and presumably some other things or tasks) until Barbie offered to let her work at her store: she takes a while to master whatever she's doing (unless it's related to technology) and is shown in at least one episode to be quite accident prone, much like her creations. When she doesn't get to take the time to improve or she learns more slowly than the people around her she gets quite sullen and feels defeated - again, something you could attribute to a comparison between herself and Barbie - but she leaps at any new chance to prove herself.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
+ Creative
+ Technology savvy
+ Social and friendly
+ Attentive and, at times, mature
- At others, immature: can be irritable and impatient
- Likes gossip and drama
- Occasional uncertainty in self, as compared to Barbie
- Unused to roughing it; will be quite lost in the wilderness
- ... is a doll. Humanity will take a while to get used to.

Samples
First Person Sample: Hey, so, Network! Question time.

[The sun is shining, the wind is blowing, and Skipper is looking mighty dubious about something.]

I know this is a game and everything, but what does that make this? [She raises her arm, the underside of which is lightly scratched up in thin red lines.] A glitch? I know about scratches, but I've never seen this red stuff before. ... or I guess it could be part of the whole human-thing, but seriously, let me know.

[LIFE IN PLASTIC, IT'S FANTASTIC - she looks a little uncomfortable in general though, still not used to the idea of humanity, but she shrugs it off and lets her arm fall to her side, picking up a smile as she keeps talking.]

Anyway, Violet's up next, and I know at least one or two of you people are staying there, so ... if anyone wants to meet up, drop me a line. [A halfway wave.] Skipper, out.

Third Person Sample: Skipper was not used to roughing it. And she was quickly learning that she wasn't enjoying it, either - especially not when she wasn't herself. Granted, as weird as the extra articulation in her joints was, she couldn't complain about that much, but this whole ... softness? What was that all about?

In the middle of all the chaos of waking up in a room that really wasn't her own, someone who defintiely wasn't her mom yelling at her about an adventure, and, uh ... what was this thing called again? Porygon?

Yep, that thing. That thing that was hovering near her shoulder and staring at her and that had followed her aaaaall the way from that little room she'd woken up in to this very path. That was surrounded by greenery and very tall grass.

Really, Skipper wouldn't have minded the whole forest thing. She liked the forest enough. Honest. It was just - there was no reception! No Wi-Fi. Nothing. And she really really wanted to send a text to Barbie or Tracy or Ken or anyone just to know she wasn't all alone here, but her phone was completely dead.

As was her tablet. And naturally, this meant she couldn't play any music to drown the default music out, either.

Yeah, she'd liked the Gear enough. It had all the functions she wanted from a phone and was even a bit speedier than hers, but it was working on a completely different frequency than she was used to and she didn't quuuite feel like tackling that just yet.

Besides, Mom had told her to get going, so that's what she was doing. Unhappily, mind you. But still. Didn't look like a lot of other options.

Well, unless you stopped to question the Porygon. Which she did, because she was unhappy about the situation.

"So, you're my partner?" No response. Of course. She tilted her head, taking on a skeptical look, like maybe that'd help coax the creature into communication. "Care to tell me what that's supposed to mean?"

It didn't make a sound. But then again, the thing was supposed to be made of coding, which was ... well, it was pretty awesome. And it had made Skipper a lot more inclined to like it, but the fact that it still wasn't very responsive wasn't exactly earning it any favours.

... she didn't like calling it 'it', either. She should decide on something better. And a name.

"Not talking, huh."

But until it gave her something to go on, well, fine, she wasn't going to return the favour.

Not when she had go brave weirdly ... rustling ... tall grass, right over there, and lug around this huge backpack with a bunch of weird stuff in it.

And clothes.

Since when did she need a lasso?

OH YOU
