Currently: Closed!
Route 29 has closed as of May 30th. For the continuation of the game, please visit [community profile] victory_road!

Applications will be normally checked during the weekend following the first and third Sunday of each month unless otherwise stated, and we will allow one application per person during one application cycle. Remember, the most characters one player can have at a time is currently set at five.

Applications received after 11:59 PM EST on Saturday of the first and third weekend of each month will be checked the following app weekend unless otherwise stated.

We now ask that potential applicants post their application in comments rather than linking. If their application contains explicit references to 'hard' spoilers (character death, unforeseen plot twists, big reveals, he was evil all along etc), players should put the application in their own journal or their character's journal and link it, making sure to mention the presence of spoilers within. For further clarification on our spoilers policy and whether or not your application needs to be linked, please check this page. Thank you for your cooperation!

Character
Name: Rinoa Heartilly
Series: Final Fantasy VIII
Timeline: Disk 3 - When she's floating in space
Canon Resource Links: Rinoa at the FFwikia
Personality:
The only daughter of General Fury Caraway, it could be assumed from her family's upper-middle class roots that Rinoa is just a vain, selfish girl, but that couldn't be more wrong. Admittedly she is a little naive about the workings of the world, but she has grown up to become a rather open, caring, and joyful person. Due to her comfortable (some would say privileged) upbringing she's very open about her opinions, speaking her mind without reservation. Rinoa has the habit of speaking her mind, typically in a way that's ultimately likely to upset people. She really doesn't mean any harm or offense by this. In fact she believes very strongly in the power of caring and has faith in the fact that even the smallest acts of kindness can have a deep impact on people. It's this belief in the good in people that lead her to try and restrict Sorceress Edea's power with an Odine bracelet instead of outright killing her.

Despite her mother's untimely death when she wasn't quite five years old, Rinoa takes after her mother quite a bit in both looks and personality. The Heartilly women have shown to have rather spunky personalities and rather strong-willed temperaments. While she's currently at odd sorts with her father due to the wildly different stances they took on Galbadian freedom, she's unfortunately just as stubborn as her father. This would explain why she's so determined to distance herself from him, though deep down she wouldn't know what to do if something bad happened to her father.

A well educated girl, Rinoa's favorite hobby is reading and she's been a rather voracious reader over the years. Initially it's this hobby that introduces her to the problems going on in Galbadia that would eventually trigger the events that lead up to her running away from home. Concerned over the state of world events, she goes to Timber and joins one of the many resistance movements hoping that she could find a way to change the world, to find a way to make Galbadia a better place for everyone to live. Soon, she became involved in way more than just a simple war for independence. The fact that she chose to stand up and fight instead of running away speaks quite eloquently about her bravery and internal fortitude, even in times of great danger. Knowing that she wasn't a trained fighter like her companions, Rinoa still did her best to make sure that she was pulling her weight. Though it might not have seemed that way to other people, not to mention the fact that it was likely that sometimes she was more of a hindrance than she'd ever been a help.

The journey proved to be more eye opening than anyone could have hoped. It brought to light many things about herself that Rinoa would likely have never discovered if she'd stayed home where it was safe. Admittedly the biggest change was centered around when she awakened as a sorceress. With the stories of Edea and Adel fresh on everyone's minds it was a terrifying experience to realize that she was suddenly more than she'd ever been before. Being possessed by Ultimecia also opened her up to just how dangerous the sorceresses could be, so by the time Esthar demands she turn herself in so that they can contain her sorceress abilities she doesn't hesitate despite being scared. In the time before the ship landed back on earth she opened up to Squall about just how much her new found power scared her as she was afraid of what would happen if she was ever brainwashed by evil again. For this reason she gave herself up, hoping to protect the people she'd come to care about. Despite her claims that it was fine, when Squall and the others came to rescue her she showed far too much relief which means all along she'd been absolutely terrified, but had been willing to sacrifice herself for the greater good.

Despite being a young woman with extraordinary powers at her command, it's easy to see that she's not letting the magic get to her head. Instead, she still wants to live her life as normally as she can surrounded by the people she cares about the most. This drive to remain close to those she cares about, and to keep from being alone, is another side effect of her mother's death as she truly wishes to find the same love and security she remembers from her early childhood years. It's safe to assume that between her new friends with SeeD she has found just that and it's unlikely she's going to let go of those bonds any time soon.

Odds and ends: Because they didn't seem to fit in anywhere else: her favorite metal is silver, her favorite flower is the rose, and sometimes she tries to play herself off as cute (be that by her body language or by what she actually says it doesn't seem to matter.)

Strengths/Weaknesses:

+ Positive
+ Outgoing
+ Cheerful
+ Down to earth
+ Good at coaxing people out of their shells
+ Good at reading body language (See her dad and Squall for reasons why)
+ Inherited mother's music talent (head canon admittedly)

+/- Stubborn

- Doesn't always think things through
- Not strategic at all
- Doesn't like being left alone
- Not overly fond of the dark either
- Bad at handicrafts.
- Worse at cooking. Don't eat anything she cooks ever. Food poisoning is almost assured. (also head canon but it fits her upbringing and meshes with her handicraft failures)

Try to cover the good points of what they can do, their life skills (not necessarily powers, but things they're just good at). Go into their biggest fears and what they just can’t do.

[The feed turns on to a too close glimpse of a pair of dark eyes. She evens the feed out after a moment and manages a small, insincere smile for anyone who might be watching.]

I never imagined the afterlife would have weird creatures and strange computers. That's what this is right? Because the last thing I remember was running out of air in space...

[Her smile fades slightly as her worlds trail off. Even for Rinoa it's a challenge to keep positive when she's under the assumption that she's dead. There's a concerned looking swablu flying above her shoulder and when she pauses it moves in to nudge her cheek gently. It makes a few crooning sounds and then Rinoa reaches up to pet it lightly.]

You're right Angel, I'm sorry. There's no reason to be all doom and gloom now. It's not like frowns can change anything.

[So she tries for another smile and this one manages to be much more genuine.]

Hi, my name's Rinoa Heartilly and I guess I'm the newest resident of...wherever this is.

Third Person Sample:
The very first thing Rinoa noticed as the air. It was clean, fresh, and pure, but more importantly it was there. She could breathe! Once she acknowledged that everything else seemed to hit her senses at once. There was sunlight, a breeze ruffling her hair, and most importantly solid ground under her feet! That last one was especially important and after a moment Rinoa gave in to the desire to do what all mature seventeen year old's do.

She plopped down onto the ground, stretched out, and then promptly rolled around in the grass. All this movement had an unforeseen side affect as it knocked a strange sphere loose, sending it tumbling. Rinoa watched the strange ball curiously and then jumped to her feet as it vanished in a puff of smoke and light. In it's place was a strange looking bird with wings like puffy little clouds. It was adorable, but Rinoa was more baffled by it's existence than it's appearance.

"Well hello there cutie, what are you?" She asked, moving in to try and get a closer look. It really did seem to have cottony cloud wings, something that made Rinoa smile. Were they as soft as they looked? Maybe if she was lucky the creature would let her touch them to find out for herself.

"Swablu?" The small pokemon asked, tilting its head curiously as it watched the person it knew was its trainer. Even if Rinoa hadn't quite figured that fact out yet.

"Swablu? That doesn't suit you at all. How about Angel? You've kind of look like you'd belong in heaven."

The Swablu gave an affirming chirp, but Rinoa's attention had already moved on. Her own words reminding her of the strangeness of her reality. Was that where she was? Because this certainly was not what she'd figured was after death. Not that she'd ever really thought about it very much. Rinoa had always been the sort of person to live in the moment after all.

"Do you know where we are? Because I'm not really sure right now." She wasn't sure how much Angel understood her, but she didn't make a habit of talking down to animals like they were dumb. She was rewarded by the swablu cleverly working at the straps of her bag with her beak. Rinoa took that as a sign that the answers were inside and soon took over the task of emptying the bag out onto the ground. Surely something here would have answers even if it wasn't something obvious like a pamphlet entitled "Newbie's Guide to Heaven 101".

Current Characters in Route: n/a

Character
Name: Duncan (no last name given)
Series: Total Drama (specifically: Total Drama Island, Total Drama Action, Total Drama World Tour)
Timeline: Sometime after the end of World Tour. And yes, he survived.
Canon Resource Links: Duncan's page at the Total Drama wiki. Keep in mind, this tends to be edited with about as much opinion as fact, so it shouldn't be considered law. Especially when it comes to Duncan's toughness: As his canon's resident "tough guy" and, well, bullies, he's a regular victim of the Rule of Funny. So the guy who wrestled with a gator over a suitcase full of money and survived a fight with a kangaroo managed to get sucker-punched and KO'd by the weaker contestants whenever a laugh was needed. I tend to ignore the ones that have no explanation, and write off the others as more "finishing blows" than him being a total wuss (for example: Cody KO's him after he'd already been attacked by a bear in the same episode, and Harold KO'd him after Duncan spent all episode teaching him how to throw a punch AND climbing a mountain).

Personality: Sporting a green mohawk, a spiked collar around his neck, and a fairly obvious dislike for everything around him, Duncan's your average rebellious teenager. Except he also has the misfortune of having been on Total Drama Island, Total Drama Action, and being kidnapped and forced to return to Total Drama World Tour despite having quit the show in the first episode. As a result, his already existing anger problem has been worsened due to the many arbitrary challenges he's been forced to perform, not to mention the repeated incidents of painful injury and/or animal maulings that each season typically involved. Even the fact he won the million dollar prize for the second season didn't do much to temper his hostility toward the show and its sadistic host Chris McLean, so really, his memories of the experience are typically unpleasant. His temper tends to be triggered more by the people he's with than the situation at hand, as he's shown to be remarkably easygoing when things start going wrong, and only tends to lose it when it's someone rather than something that's getting on his nerves.

An unapologetic juvenile delinquent, Duncan embraces the 'bad boy' image that his behavior typically crafts for him, to the point that he hides or refuses to admit to anything that suggests he has a nice side buried underneath all the mockery, pranks, and misdemeanors. Anyone he dislikes can expect to be bullied or pranked both mercilessly and regularly, while those he treats with indifference can usually expect only occasional juvenile antics from him. Those fortunate enough to be considered his friends benefit from only good-natured teasing, as well as an unshakeable loyalty and concern for their continued happiness (though he will do his best to hide the latter as best as possible, often by trying to trivialize his actions). That isn't to say he's without any other blemishes to his personality however, as he's also shown to be somewhat of a chauvinist from time to time, and very, very rarely expresses any remorse for his bad behavior unless it winds up hurting him in some way. He often uses threats of violence to get his way and control people around him, and the threats typically aren't empty ones (he once settled a petty feud by throwing an angry dingo at the person, knocking them off a cliff in the process). He's also more than willing to let others get hurt if he thinks it'll be entertaining, even once allowing one of his teammates to scale over an electrified fence while he simply walked through the open gate.

Duncan's a rocker through and through, and embraces the stereotypical punk lifestyle of loud music and juvenile delinquency. His favorite hobby is vandalism, with a special preference for carving into things with the small knife he carries with him. Of course, he's open to other activities, such as playing with fire and stealing cars. Previous exploits also include a "Happy Nude Year" celebration and a pool party in the city hall fountain. He's also a huge fan of both the horror and alien movie genres, including the less specific "slasher flick" genre. The cheesier and more obscure the movie, the more he likes it, and has absolutely no problem rewatching a movie he enjoys several times (e.g.: he's seen "Alien Chunks" a total of 53 times). That fondness combined with Duncan's natural ingenuity led to him teaching himself how to make fake blood, something that has obvious prank applications.

All told, while he's far from the most likable guy on the planet, he's not exactly pure evil either. While he may be immature, short tempered, and generally a jerk, he does have a soft spot, and if he likes you there's no better person to have at your back. Underneath the blend of rebellious teenage angst and apathy, he actually is a pretty nice, caring guy. It's just buried...deep. Bedrock deep.

Strengths/Weaknesses:

+Resourceful

+Can jerry-rig several useful objects from scrap, provided he has the parts necessary

+Tough. Both in terms of strength and resilience to harm (note: not to superhuman levels, dude can just take a beating and keep on kicking)

+Can be a thoughtful, caring person when he feels like it. He especially doesn't like seeing people feeling any sort of emotional hurt he's felt, and will [secretly!] do whatever he can to make things right for them.

+Used to living on the streets and, thanks to the show, in lousy conditions. Even spent the night sleeping on the ground in a torrential downpour once.

+Good with fire and things that go boom. Sure, it might not get used often, but uh...let's just say wronging him is a high-risk endeavor. And yeah, he can improvise explosives out of just about anything that can go boom in the first place (in-canon, he demolished a set with nothing but paint bombs, and come season IV, has used real explosives on his own).

+/- Stubborn as a bull when he wants to be. Depending on the circumstances, this can be either good or bad.

-Criminal tendencies. It's nearly impossible for him to go very long without causing trouble of some kind.

-Typically highly unlikeable, due to being a bit of a bully and a jerk

-Easily angered, often to violence

-Extremely prideful (he wants to keep up his "tough guy" front at all costs)

-Bit of a chauvinist

-Perfectly willing to break rules or disobey instructions he doesn't agree with

-Regularly talks himself into trouble

First Person Sample:

[The video screen flicks on, showing a somewhat battle-worn Duncan, in clothes that have more than their fair share of claw marks and holes ripped out of them. In one hand, he's holding up a very annoyed Poochyena for display by the scruff of its neck, and from the sound of things there's still some bad blood between the two. That, or the growling just means the little pokemon has one very loud, very empty stomach...]

Anybody know what this stupid thing eats? Other than me? I figure it's gotta be meat of some kind the way he's starin' at my lunch, and I know the little runt's teeth are sharp enough. But we don't exactly have Poochy...whatevers where I'm from, so help a guy out.

[And so ends the pleasantries, as the Poochyena tries to swing himself over to take another bite at Duncan's face. Fortunately, Duncan was evidently prepared for it, and the little Poochyena doesn't get anywhere near him.]

Because otherwise I'll drop this pain off at your place where he can try to rip your face off!

Third Person Sample:

So, things hadn't got off to such a great start with Bitey. Yeah, Bitey, Duncan was kind of crap at naming things and it seemed pretty appropriate considering how their first interaction had gone. But considering he apparently couldn't get outta New Bark without taking a pokemon with him, he figured he might as well try to make the best of it and offer the little pain in the neck an olive branch of sorts. Namely, he'd been letting Bitey walk around with him outside the pokeball all day, figuring the little guy might be able to run out some of that hostility. Or heck, at least appreciate the freedom. So far...eh, mixed results. At least he'd stopped biting at his heels after the first thirty minutes of hiking. Maybe getting to use those giant rats or Rattatas or whatever calmed him down, Duncan didn't really know. He was just glad he didn't have to worry about the stupid thing severing a tendon.

Of course, now it was getting dark, and they'd have to find a place to sleep for the night...which was going to be hard, considering they still hadn't reached town, thanks to the giant rats and Bidoofs every five minutes. Whatever it was, this place had a serious rodent problem. Granted, after three seasons of Chris being...well, Chris, Duncan was able to pretty much sleep anywhere. He set his pack on the ground underneath a pretty decent sized tree, just in case the weather got bad during the night, and was about to lie down before he remembered to check where Bitey was. He should probably put him inside his ball to rest up, but apparently the runt'd gone and run off.

"Look ya little furball, it's late. I ain't too wild about bein' stuck out here with you all night neither, but it's too dark to keep walkin! So get over here and go to--"

Of course, that's when he heard a little bark from behind him. Turning around, he found Bitey curled up on top of his pack, looking entirely too pleased with himself. Little twerp had played him!

"No way furball, make your own stupid bed! Off!"

That command proved remarkably ineffective, like the past several dozen that'd come before it. It almost seemed like the only time Bitey ever listened to him was during a fight with some other pokemon, with few exceptions. And not being one to repeat himself, Duncan tried to reach down and yank the rebellious Poochyena off his backpack only to nearly lose a hand in the process. All he saw was a glimmer of white teeth before he snatched his hand back just in time to hear those same chompers gnash together.

"Alright, fine! Keep it! But you better be ready to go in the mornin, 'cuz I ain't waitin for you to wake up."

Well aware he was yelling at something that probably couldn't understand a word he was saying anyway, Duncan decided to give up and catch some shut-eye instead. Sure, he might not have had a pillow anymore, but he'd slept in worse. At least it wasn't a total downpour, sleeping through that was something he was in no hurry to do again. It was definitely gettin' cold though, which meant he might have to consider thanking "Mom" (or whatever her real name was) for packing him a sleeping bag. Course, no sooner had he gotten comfortable than he felt that furry little nuisance trying to worm his way into the sleeping bag as well.

"Hey! You're the one that wanted the bag, this one's mine!"

More growling. But half-hearted growling at best, apparently Bitey just wanted to go to sleep, not spend another hour fighting it out with Duncan. And he had the same opinion. Besides, this way he got his backpack to use as a pillow again, and the little runt to keep him warm. For somethin' so small, the poochyena gave off quite a bit of heat. "Fine, whatever. Just don't bite me in the morning or you're stayin' in this bag."

Character
Name: Meryl Silverburgh
Series: Metal Gear Solid
Timeline: Post-MGS1
Canon Resource Links:
Wiki

Personality:
Meryl seems to be stuck between the compassionate woman she tries to shake off and the tough and commanding solider she tries to be. Despite her feminine urges, she is definitely much different from other women. She tends to pay little or no attention to her personal appearance, save for the occasional need to disguise herself and an attention to personal hygiene. Likewise, though it was proven that the psychotherapy she received didn't completely eliminate her interest in men, sexual and romantic perusals aren't exactly a priority to her. She knows better then to let others guide or manipulate her through love, and even seems to refuse to be led around by her childhood hero and lover.

She is primarily a warrior, or at least acts somewhat like one. She acts confident to the point of being called cocky, or maybe even arrogant in extreme cases, and she makes it a point to let others know what she wants to be thought of. Likewise, even if she's scared or uncertain, she would rarely ever let it show, even if she does end up trembling in her boots. However, this is only because she's very eager to prove that she can be a capable, invaluble asset, and is reassuring herself, along with the people around her. It takes a lot of trust for Meryl to open up and say how she really feels about the world around her, and even then, she'd do everything in her power to compensate for any perceived weaknesses.

On the other hand, she is still womanly in many ways and mannerisms. She is first and foremost a kind and compassionate person. Even if she isn't particularly friendly, she's at least more outgoing then others in her profession. She speaks how she thinks she should for an occasion, and on most occasions, speaks in a friendly, lighthearted manner. However, she also almost seamlessly injects scathing remarks into her speech, and can become serious or hostile very quickly. She knows when to take something seriously, and won't joke around when the going gets tough.

She's also an incredibly selfless person, and would very rarely put herself before her mission or other people. However, this is largely due to the fact that she is almost completely incapable of thinking for herself. Though she has tried to determine just who she really is, she is still largely driven by her desire to know more about her father, and more recently, by her desire to understand Snake. Meryl will very frequently both put others before herself, and look to the needs of others when she doesn't want to make her own decisions. Moreover, she would never hesitate for even a second to help a person in need, even if she doesn't really like them otherwise. She may not like someone for being an outright jerk to her, but that doesn't mean she won't enthusiastically fight by their side, even if they don't really need her help.

However, there is some genuine kindness and compassion amoung all of that- she distinctly said she feels awful about killing others, and is more concerned with doing good then killing- something that directly contrasts others from her canon. She has a very strong sense of morality and patriotism, and is very driven by her ideals. She even goes as far as to directly oppose the commander of a unit she had always joined of dreaming for starting a rebellion under dubious circumstances, and going directly against her childhood hero's orders just because she wanted to help.

Lastly, and most noticeably, is the fact that she just can't seem to keep her mouth shut. Whether it's a simple common sense point, a witty observation, or an attempt to impress others, she has an irresistible urge to say it. She's been called everything from a brat to a smartass over it, and it would take something very scathing for it to even affect her anymore. Besides, it's usually in good fun, and when it isn't, whatever she has to say is probably for a good reason, especially when she's the only person with the courage to say it.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
Strengths:
-She has excellent physical strength and endurance. She can hit hard, and get up after being badly hurt.

-She's very diligent, and will do virtually anything to get what she wants. She wanted to be a soldier, so she trained until she could handle a recoil-heavy handgun. She wanted to know her father better, so she devoted her whole life to becoming a soldier like him.

-She's good with somewhat vicious animals. Vicious wolf-dogs have been seen sitting and otherwise being perfectly docile around her when they might attack an experienced dog musher.

-Meryl is very courageous, and she isn't afraid to stand up for what she believes in. She'll go against the unit she wanted to be in her whole life, take bullets, and withstand any kind of pain for the sake of her ideals.

Weaknesses:
-Meryl is a walking identity crisis. She's slowly coming to terms with the fact that she's rather feminine, but she still has doubts about weather or not she should be a soldier or settle down.

-She's will occasionally ignore what's best for what she likes most. She changed out of a well-fitting disguise because it smelled bad to her, and ran off on her own for the sake of proving herself.

-She's not completely aware or in control of her feelings. She received psychotherapy to suppress most of her romantic and sexual urges, and she's otherwise ignored any sense of insecurity or femininity she had before. The events of MGS1 have freed and forced her to acknowledge these things, and she doesn't always know how to handle things properly.

-She's really immature for her age. The series puts emphasis on experience and wisdom. As a result, characters in this universe occasionally act years younger then their actual age. Meryl is no exception to this; she's 18, and compared to teenagers from other universes, might seem like a small child.

-Meryl will occasionally stand by all of these mistakes and more with the same stubbornness conviction that makes her so strong in the first place.

I don't get it. Someone kidnaps you and then sends you out into the wilderness with a bunch of angry wild animals and criminals. Why? Who could benefit from something like this. It's hard to know how to deal with an enemy when you can't even read their motives.

I've been gathering information on the area itself to try and piece together what's going on. There seems to be background music wherever you go, and "creatures" that can be put into little balls and then stored into a PC. If this is a VR simulation, they really didn't even try to hide it. It's like we're being taunted.

I guess I should be asking how I'm supposed to bust out now that I know what I've gotten myself into. Is there even anything I can do, apart from not play into it? I mean, I could just stop everything, but then these creatures get really upset. They seem too real to be anything from a VR, and that freaks me out. They're almost real, and letting them down would hurt.

I guess there's nothing else I can do in the meantime anyway. Might as well play along until I figure out what to do about all this. Nothing wrong with hurting a few wild animals, right?

Third Person Sample: (300 words)
Meryl looked over the area again with disdain. How long had she been out in the wilderness like this? Days? Maybe a week? It was hard to tell by now. Her life used to be so structured, and now she can barely tell what time of day it is without looking at her Pokegear.

She finished digging up a plant. She had learned not to even try eating what her Nidoran ate; what didn't taste bad outright made her sick. She probably should have learned that right off the bat, but at least that's all that happened. Honestly, she could have died, and she knows that. She rinsed off the dug-up root in a nearby stream, and then chocked it down. Not the best, but it was filling and edible.

Nidoran notices the look of distress on her face, and quickly cuddles up to Meryl. Meryl smiles slightly and scratches her behind the ear; even if she wasn't much help sometimes, Nidoran was a good pet.

"Don't worry, we'll be in a nice big city soon." Meryl finally spoke up, though she was obviously reassuring herself more then anyone else. Maybe if she gets to town, she'll find someone, anyone, who can help her. Nobody had any answers, but she wanted to go home. She wanted to see Dave again, and live that happy life she was promised. She wanted to see Uncle Roy, he always managed to have something good to say and cheer her up.

Maybe it was because she hadn't been here long, but she didn't want to stay. The animals were cute, but not enough to make her stay. She enjoyed a challenge, but not one where she wasn't doing the fighting. None of this seemed right. The world was unnatural, and the whole economy was built on these poor animals hurting each-other. She keeps telling herself that this is all some awful dream, and maybe one day, she'll find out it's true. Until then, she'd just have to be strong.

Character
Name: Illidan Stormrage
Series: Warcraft
Timeline:Immediately post Frozen Throne.
Canon Resource Links:
Wowwiki’s page.

Personality:

Illidan is… complicated. Brash, eager, hotheaded, reckless, determined, cunning, and ruthless are all words that could easily be used to describe him, but there’s much more to him even beyond all of that.

At his core, Illidan is a man who is torn between three principle desires that all too often come into conflict. He wants to be recognized, admired, and praised as a hero. He wants power, and he has a specific taste for the power of magic . And the one he’d be least willing to admit, but that shapes him as much as the other two, is his need to be accepted for who he is, not just for what he can do. He’s had precious little fulfillment of the first and third desires in his life, due both to his own hotheadedness and his attachment to the second. Due in no small part to his constant failure to inform others of his plans (which tend to be grandiose and feature him as the principle player, unsurprisingly) plus his addiction to power, he tends to get earfuls often, and lose friends and even family when they don’t see things as he does.

Because of this, as well as ten thousand years of memories as a prisoner for a crime he will never agree even deserved punishment, Illidan is also very, very bitter. He’s far from eager to open up to anyone, he tends to be a loner, and he dislikes having to rely on others, though being put in a leadership position can mollify that. Despite all this, he’s not completely unable to make friends and allies. If they share a common cause and especially if they remind him of himself, Illidan can in fact be a very good friend, provider, and leader to anyone who might be in need of his help.

In all, Illidan is a dangerous foe and almost as dangerous an ally. He’s unpredictable, arrogant, self-centered and even cruel at times, but he does have a heart and the capacity for empathy. By and large, what side of him surfaces depends largely on how he’s treated, and what type of people surround him.

Strengths/Weaknesses:

Strengths: Quick-thinking and clever schemes are Illidan’s bread and butter. They may be grandiose and overdramatic, but his plans are usually based in sound logic and unless outside forces he hadn’t counted on interfere, they would usually actually work. He’s also determined to an almost insane degree, a natural leader if given the opportunity, and very, very good at survival.

Weaknesses: Arrogance. Easily Illidan’s biggest weak point is his enormous ego. His shortsightedness and eagerness to rush into conflict does not help. At all. Also, his insistance on self-reliance and his lack of ability to consider other people’s points of view tends to lead to him taking actions that alienate those around him, and all too often he can’t even fathom why. There’s also the fact that he’s blind, but he’s honed his other senses so well that this barely qualifies at this point.

No magic. No matter what I try, no matter how hard I make the attempt, I cannot activate even the slightest cantrip.

This. Is. Unacceptable. This world is populated by hundreds of tiny creatures able to use numerous powerful abilities, but none of my spells work! It’s as if the whole world was designed to make those who live in it feel defenseless!

Humans are such a weak species to begin with, but at least they are usually capable of more than this. Is this the result of dozens of generations of relying on these beasts, these “Pokemon” to fight for them? How utterly pathetic.

[He lets out a loud, outraged growl, then shakes his head.] The one saving grace is that I believe this world is so far away from anything I know that even Kil’Jaeden could never find it. What the Legion could do to this world… It would be all too easy, and no one here could even defend themselves.

[He stares at his Gible, who stares back for a few moments before leaping at him and biting his arm. Illidan looks at Azzinoth , or rather in his general direction, as he, of course, can’t see him, with mild irritation before plucking him off.]

And you are not helping. I hope you grow in power as quickly as this device says you should. The dragons of my world were far more fearsome.

[Azzinoth squacks back at him, and with a grumble, Illidan sets him down and switches off his gear with his other hand.]

Third Person Sample:

He had been warned countless times about the dangers of leaving the town. “Don’t go into the tall grass!” “Look out for wild Pokemon!” “Keep your own Pokemon with you for protection!”

While annoying, the constant concerns had given him the first pleasant thought he’d had since his arrival. That maybe there would be something resembling a true challenge out there. He couldn’t expect something as fearsome as a Legion soldier or a Scourge ghoul, but without his weapons and magic, he wasn’t really in any position to take either of those on anyway.

He should have known when he entered the route that he was expecting too much of this world. First of all, the “tall grass” was only about up to his waist. Now, granted, he was exceptionally tall for this world, it seemed, though much shorter than he’d been back on his own, but it was still a disappointment.

Second, as he trumped along with his little companion behind him, it became rather obvious that the path was not only very straight, with only a few necessary detours around large trees and steep ledges, it was also absurdly simple to follow. Even without the benefit of sight, he had no problems following it.

The third thing that told him that any hope for a decent fight was completely pointless was when he finally met his first wild Pokemon. He felt the creature before he heard it, the grass rustling against him in a way that the wind would not have caused. Dropping into a guard pose, he awaited an attack.

It didn’t take long. The grass parted as a small creature hurled itself towards him. Illidan clenched his fists tightly and sidestepped, aiming a punch at the attacker. The blow connected easily, and Illidan felt fur, whiskers, and a face that he knew beyond a shadow of a doubt was that of a… rodent.

He was being attacked by an overgrown rat.

With a snarl of irritation, he struck the creature again while it was recovering from his first blow, and sent it rolling end over end. He paused, waiting for it to get up and continue the fight, but it did no such thing.

Growling in irritation, Illidan tossed his head back and yelled at the sky.

“Is this what I’ve been reduced to?”

He was not looking forward to this journey. Not. At. All.

Personality:
No matter how you spin it, Keisuke is a very introverted person. Not only is he timid in dealing with people he was friends with once upon a time or those he's working with to save the world Tokyo, but a lot of his processing of thoughts or feelings is done internally. Until he snaps and decides to take it upon himself to judge others' evil, striking them down with borrowed power.

Keisuke wasn't always that way, however. Before high school rolled around, he easily made friends, and was even a kind of source for stability. He stuck up for those being bullied, and soon got into the groove of being a protector. In high school, he sought to continue this. Teenagers can be cruel, though, and soon the shoe was on the other foot--Keisuke wound up being the one who was bullied. To make things worse, one of the bullies was someone who he had just rescued from that same fate. It was this cruel fact of life that changed Keisuke from 'the knight in shining but friendly armor' to 'the quiet teen who will judge you into oblivion quite literally'. The frustration bubbling over from his tight lid on his emotions was noticed by Naoya, who gave him the altered COMP in the first place.

Once the source of the power was eliminated and Keisuke allows himself to listen to reason again, he realizes just how guilty and hypocritical he really is, even admitting that he thought he was God and able to pass judgement on evildoers. He vows to lead by example, as suggested to him, to change the injustices of the world for the better. It's likely this same promise to himself that influences him to bail on the protagonist, should the player go for Naoya's route, and the same need to atone/make the world a better place that causes him to initially leave the party in Yuzu's route.

As standoffish as he comes off at first, it's quite possible to get Keisuke out of his shell. Keisuke tends to speak formally, whether to put himself on a higher level or just to be polite. Heck, even when he's bent on killing a group of civilians, he remembers to say 'please'. It adds to his generally-reserved nature, as well as his cold, calculating side. Even with his need for privacy, those with a simple view on life (see: Midori) get a soft spot in his death note book, due to their innocence. All others have to earn the privilege of an actual, different expression even in a contained apocalypse. His thoughts are more easy to come across, as Keisuke makes an effort to contribute to important discussions--often in a complete, well-thought-out fashion, proving that his mind is an ever-spinning top. The boy's true, darker feelings--the ones he becomes more and more ashamed of--slip out only when his buttons are pushed. The topics most likely to provoke him are, understandably, people picking on others who are weaker than them or unfair treatment, but post-breakdown/recovery, Keisuke does his best to hide his reactions once more, going off in private so he can calm himself.

Though he's very clearly intellectual, Keisuke often puts his viewpoint above others'. He believes he's in the right until proven wrong past the point of argument, which can cause him to become condescending to those who have faith in others. As observant as he is, he can get single-minded about focusing on a subject, should it interest him enough, and wouldn't exactly take kindly to unnecessary distractions. Sometimes even necessary ones.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
+ Calm and collected (generally.)
+ Quick to admit fault when he realizes it.
+ Stands up for others.
+ Thoughtful.

? Deep sense of justice.
? Not likely to give up.

- Flustered when it comes to relationships.
- Gets high on power.
- Cynical.
- Pessimistic.
- Quick to assume the worst.

[The video starts off with the simple view of someone walking. Judging by the path, they're probably somewhere in Goldenrod City.]

Is there a way to change what this place has made you?

[The speaker sighs softly before going on to explain--]

Say there's a trainer who doesn't feel suited for fighting. Are they allowed to go against the judgement of Johto, and be a breeder instead?

...Sometimes I wonder if it's really decided on a whim, or if our titles are there for a deeper purpose. Like this world really knows us.

[aka 'I'm a bad kid looking for redemption not rocketeering boo hoo']

[The walker stands still a few seconds before ending out the feed. He's going to do some more thinking.]

Third Person Sample:
He didn't remember much from the games. To be honest, Keisuke hadn't been one to join in on the Pokemon craze, back when all the kids were running around trying to be the very best. What he did remember, though, was that Team Rocket were the bad guys.

He was a bad guy.

The teen had spent a long time staring at the uniform before putting it on. It felt like slipping into skin he wasn't quite comfortable with, even though it was far too familiar. What he had done, with Yama at his side...

It wasn't fair. Keisuke had been on the path of redemption, hadn't he? His reign on the Yamanote circle had ended when the demon's life had, and he had come to his senses. "So why am I...?" Part of Team Rocket. Normally, he could have shrugged it off as a guilty conscience paying him back for those he murdered through a completely random dream. But he had already gone through the whole pinch-in-the-arm rigamarole. Plus, the world felt too...real.

He sighed, refraining from speaking any more of his thoughts as he gathered up the things provided to him and set off down the hall for his training. At the very least, he figured he could get a refresher on what the group was all about. At most, Keisuke could find a way back to Tokyo and continue his work there. Even if he wasn't exactly needed, or maybe even completely welcome, the seventeen-year-old still wanted to help; to atone for what he'd done and make a real difference.

His heart sunk more with each step down the hall that lead to what felt like a band of jurors awaiting his arrival to sentence him for a crime. This world--a world that had been manufactured for children--had already judged him, it seemed.

Maybe it was time to face the music. Again.

Character

Series: Persona 4
Timeline: After Naoto appears on the Midnight Channel
Canon Resource Links: Rise @ Persona wikia

Personality:

Headstrong, determined, with just enough optimistic pep to her is what mostly defines Rise. She does exactly what she sets out to do, and will do her best to be the best at doing it. If she doesn't, then, well, depending on the situation it would be a good idea to prepare yourself for a shower of crocodile tears. Not to say she uses her acting skills for any kind of cheating, as she believes in fair play, justice, and all that good stuff. She's one for gossip, and loves hearing about any and all of it, adding her opinion in if she feels that it might be helpful.

She's attracted to maturity, and doesn't often appreciate childishness, despite being childish herself. The contrast of calm and collected to her chameleon-like personality might be what's appealing to her, as it provides something strong and stable she can look up to and depend on. While she is immature herself at times, she has enough sense and maturity to keep herself in check. This mainly applies to her mischievous streak, which she represses due to her status as an idol--or, at least in the case of wanting to pull the fire alarm, her status comes into play. She is, also, a party girl and wants to make sure everyone has a good time no matter what.

She has her moments of selfishness, and she's well aware of those moments, even if she doesn't let it be publicly known. Her streak of jealousy also leads into her passive-aggression, which mostly consists of small, backhand comments that can easily go undetected. However, she will gladly tell others exactly what's on her mind if they trigger the response. For example, when the Investigation Team first talked to Naoto extensively, Rise was infuriated when she--then believed to be "he"--referred to the case as a game, and had no qualms in telling her off.

One of Rise's biggest fears is losing everything precious to her. The possible, seemingly inevitable idea can bring her to tears. Not the exaggerated fake ones she conjures up at times, but real, I-need-hugs tears. She puts her all into the relationships she builds with others and the successes she's managed to obtain over time, and to have it all disappear is devastating. She also has a need to be needed, to be useful to others, namely to the main group as they helped her during her own Shadow crisis.

[Rise's face shows up on the network, and it's just dark enough to hide the mess her hair has become on her journey through the Ilex Forest. The light from her Gear's screen is dimmed, so the bags under her eyes are mostly hidden by the darkness surrounding her. She sighs, breathy and ending on a high whimper, and dabs at her eyes before whispering into the Gear.]

Rosemary still isn't feeling well, but at least she's finally able to fall asleep.

[She darts her eyes around her camp site, which was no more than her and her sleeping bag behind a tree at this point, Rosemary having been called into her ball upon unconsciousness. While she expresses her paranoia to the camera, she's feeling swirls of panicked vengeance creeping into her stomach. Poison-types surround her in silence, in the pitch-black dark, and they are exactly the reason why she clutches her bag of PokéBalls to her chest.]

[The coast is clear, and she swallows.]

I let her listen to my heartbeat...it helps calm her down when she's scared or tired, and I could tell she was just...

[No amount of cocooning the Gear in her hands can muffle the string of sobs that she can't stop. It's been two days since Rosemary was poisoned by a Weedle, and three since the rest of her team suffered a similar fate. She's all but alone in the forest, now, and she doesn't know when she'll see the end of this humid maze. Making status reports to her friends in other cities has been helping her cope, and often helpful if they can guide her from days--miles had become useless, time was the best way to measure things now--away. The music drifting through the air taunts her with an apprehension-infested melody that she can't shake, nor stop herself from humming along. Her breathing is shaky; she has to stay strong, but it's getting hard to at this rate.]

I'm so stupid! Why did I come here without Antidotes? I'm supposed to take care of my friends, and how can I ask them to protect me if I can't even--

[She cuts the transmission with a slip of a finger, and it's probably a good thing to not flood the network with her despaired sobbing.]

Third Person Sample:

Rise was perched on the fence, idly watching her Pokémon team play in the tall grass as the day was coming to an end. The route's music hummed and chirped through the air, and by now it was just...normal. Sometimes when it switched from place-to-place, Rise realized how out of the ordinary it was, and then how used to it she had become. This place had wormed its way into her world, and her own sometimes slipped through her memory. Naoto was still in danger back there, and Rise had to remind herself that he--no, she, that's right--was going to be okay, everyone had told her so and the best she could do was to believe them.

She swung her legs back and forth, eyes cast down at the ground. She almost missed the Persona battles at this point, because at least, then, she and her friends were all together. Pokémon battles weren't quite the same, even if she was doing just about the same job as she was before. Rise could cheer her Pokémon on and recite encouragements all she wanted, but it wasn't ever the same sort of support she provided her friends. Here, in this strange melody-infused world of Johto, her friends didn't need her to root them on, tell them weaknesses that she spotted, or to really even be around them.

A tug on her sock snapped her from her zoning out, and she had to smile at the pink-and-white creature looking up at her with blue-eyed concern. Rosemary had been as close a friend as any since day one, and Rise had to admit she couldn't imagine going home without her in tow, now. She sighed and hopped off the fence, sinking to a crouch to reach eye-level with her starter in this big Pokémess. Chin her hands, she offered Rosemary a rueful smile, to which the Pokémon returned with a curious, "Aud?"

"I hope you like tofu, Rosie, just in case you get to come home with me when this is all over."

Character
Name: Apollo
Series: Genesis of Aquarion, Wings of Betrayal/Wings of Glory OVA series
Timeline: The day before the battle over his forest
Canon Resource Links: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genesis_of_Aquarion_%28OVA%29 (Some casual spoilers beyond. Yeah, Aquarion isn't too big on the whole "backstory" thing. That's about all we get.)

Personality:

Most of Apollo's views on life stem from something his grandfather always told him: "Be it grass, fruit, or beasts, whatever you eat, you have to live its part. Don't waste a thing." Apollo has made this concept one of the cornerstones of his life. He considers all the animals in the forest, even the insects, his friends, but he knows that he'll be forced to kill many of them so he can survive, and he accepts that, keeping their skulls on the hill around his grandfather's grave to help him remember each of them and how they died. He considers all of the animals he eats to live on inside him and respects their sacrifice. He makes a prayer-like gesture that he says makes him feel like he can live for his prey before he eats, clasping his hands together and bowing his head for a few moments. Unknown to him, this is a latent memory of his past life, where the right hand represents the life being taken and the left hand represents his own life, the two hands coming together in the shape of a human heart. Even though he kills his animal friends to survive, he hates seeing them scared or suffering, and if he comes across an animal who's injured beyond what he can treat, he'll kill it himself to end its pain.

Anyone who mistreats nature and doesn't respect it like he does - in his experience, all humans other than himself and his grandfather - is hated by him. The wish that his grandfather left him when he died was for Apollo to protect the forest, and this wish is the other cornerstone of his life. He tries his best to fulfill that wish, even killing animals that are unbalancing the ecosystem, such as a deer that ate so much that he was worried it would strip the mountain if he left it alone. The biggest threats to the forest though are humans, which he's not nearly as successful at dealing with, since all he has is a hunting knife and poachers are coming with guns, or giant robots are crushing the forest as they fight. Being helpless in the face of a threat to the forest or his friends is something that he finds extremely distressing, and a large-scale threat that he can't do anything about, such as a forest fire, will cause him to panic completely. Apollo's focus on protecting the forest blinds him to the realities of the rest of the world, and part of his development over his canon involves him realizing that he needs to help protect the entire Earth, not just the one tiny patch of it that is his forest. Part of his poor opinion of humans is from negative experiences with them, but part is also from a mistaken assumption on his part; he assumes that all humans are like him and can communicate with plants and animals, meaning they must understand the suffering they're causing and so their destruction of nature is malicious. Later, after the point I'm taking him from, he's genuinely surprised when he learns that this isn't the case, but immediately understands that that's why they can harm nature so easily. This also leads into another trait of his, that once he realizes that someone doesn't understand something, even if he doesn't like them he'll still explain the truth to them.

In general, Apollo is fairly calm unless you try to hurt him or someone or something he cares about, or if you insult him. Being around humans will also put him in a bad mood, though that will eventually change once he knows them. He enjoys talking about his animal friends with people who will listen, and he's perfectly capable of making jokes, though it's not necessarily clear that he's joking, such as when he feeds his prisoners and says it's a good idea to fatten up your prey before you eat them, only to be offended when they take him seriously. If he cares about someone, he'll instinctively rush to help them without thinking of his own safety, even in the face of a situation as completely beyond him as a forest fire, where he had to be held back from rushing in to try and save the animals. Beyond protecting the forest he has no real goals in life, and isn't particularly introspective. He'd have been perfectly content with dividing his time between hunting, swimming, and just spending time in the forest until the day he died if the plot (or in this case, coming to Johto) hadn't come in and jolted him out of his normal life. Even the idea of dying doesn't seem to scare him, though he would probably prefer to become food for some predator that beat him in a fight than die by a poacher's gun. He doesn't seem to have much experience with long-term planning in general, as his taking of the aforementioned prisoners doesn't seem to be done with any great purpose in mind, and he isn't even upset when they escape, though that could be because he knows they won't be able to leave the forest without him to guide them.

Strengths/Weaknesses:

+ His body operates near the peak of what is possible for someone his age, being fairly strong, extremely fast and agile, and able to jump extremely high. These traits have of course been reduced upon coming here, but the average human or pokémon will still have trouble hitting him or keeping up with him.
+ He's a good fighter, both unarmed and with a knife, using his speed and agility to his advantage.
+ He has extremely good situational awareness, being very hard to sneak up on.
+ He's a skilled hunter and forager who can survive and thrive in the wilderness. This is less useful here, seeing as how he can't eat pokémon and many of the plants are different, but the ability to track and stalk prey is still useful when searching for people or pokémon, and his general survival skills are still relevant.
+ He has vast knowledge of plants and animals: what's edible, what's medicinal, the best habitats for them, and so on. He also knows how to treat basic injuries and diseases, mostly through herbalism. Of course, much of this knowledge is useless here, but he'd understand how to determine this kind of knowledge for the new species here, so he'll figure out this world's flora and fauna fairly quickly.
+ He has the ability to communicate with plants and animals (now just pokémon of course). It's not clear exactly how much of this is his psychic powers at work and how much is simply recognizing animal cries and body language, but since at one point he describes a certain tree as always telling him stories when he's troubled, it can be assumed that there is something supernatural at work. For the sake of Route I'm saying that it's something between empathy and telepathy; he can communicate and understand emotional states and strong impressions and images, but he can't actually "talk" with them. Additionally, he can get an impression of the general emotional tone of the animals in the area. Again, it's hard to say how much of that is just understanding cries, but since he obviously has some kind of power, I'll say that it's a psychic ability.
+/- If he considers you a friend or cares about your well-being, he'll do everything he can to make sure you're safe and happy. Unfortunately, he doesn't consider his own limitations or other people's opinions in doing so, which can upset others or get him in over his head if he's not stopped.
+/- He doesn't like animals, and to a lesser extent people, getting hurt unless it's to kill them for food. How is this not all upside? Because he'll avoid letting his pokémon fight, which means they'll level up slower.
+/- He has an excellent sense of smell, to the limit of what a human is capable of (which is more than most people in modern societies can reach). This sense is good enough to be able to distinguish the smells of flowers and grass in the wild. Unfortunately, this also makes him extremely sensitive to other smells, like oil and chemicals, making staying around civilization, especially industrial areas, very unpleasant for him.
- He's prejudiced against humans, focusing on their negative traits and assuming the worst about them. He's later shown to be able to overcome that prejudice given enough evidence to the contrary or a realization that they might be ignorant of the consequences of their actions and are willing to learn the truth, at least for individuals, but his opinion of humanity as a whole is likely to remain poor for a while without something major to change it.
- He has no long-term goals beyond protecting the forest, so he kind of drifts through life and lives day-to-day rather than striving towards anything in particular.
- He's implied to be illiterate, which is reasonable given his upbringing. He knows what books are, as his grandfather had some, but they're shown as being covered in dust and cobwebs since he never touches them.
- He has virtually no understanding of any even remotely modern technology. He knows what guns are, and has probably seen poachers bring in things like cars, radios, walkie-talkies, cellphones, flashlights, and GPS units, but at the most he'd know what those things are for, with no understanding of how to use them.
- He has no understanding of many concepts or any kind of social customs, having never left the forest. Even things as basic as what money is and how to use it, or why women would react negatively to him skinny-dipping and inviting them to join him, are beyond him. Similarly, he doesn't know all the words that most people would expect him to, for example calling a year a "seasonal cycle". This is not to say that he is any way stupid; he just has never had the chance to learn certain things.
- He's afraid of needles.

[The video comes on to show a GIANT SPEAROW FACE filling the screen before its owner hops back to a more reasonable distance, revealing that it is in fact slightly larger than the average Spearow, though certainly not a giant. The camera is swaying quite a bit, like the person holding it has no clue that it's on or that they're supposed to be keeping it still, but it's clear that they're sitting in a tree, a few of the houses in New Bark Town visible through a gap in the leaves. The Spearow looks past the camera at whoever's holding it and gives a quiet "Spee".]

Okay, I'm talking now. What's this supposed to do? There's no one close enough to hear what I'm saying.

[The voice is slightly muffled, but seems to belong to a young male, possibly in his early teens. The Spearow tilts its head to the side slightly but remains silent.]

Talking with humans who aren't nearby? Like those things that group of poachers had with them. Why would I want to talk to humans?

[The Spearow gives a louder "Row!"]

Fine.

[The camera shakes violently as it's turned around, eventually coming to rest more or less on the face of the PokéGear's owner, which, aside from a head of red hair and a pair of golden eyes, is hidden by a mask of white cloth. The boy glares at the camera.]

Whoever brought me here, take me back to the forest and give me my knife back!

[The camera swings back to show the branches of the tree. The Spearow apparently isn't happy with how short the boy's post is and gives an angry "Spear! Spear!", but the boy doesn't say anything more. After a while longer of recording leaves, the camera moves and the Spearow's face looms into view. There's an irritated "Row!" and the feed ends.]

Third Person Sample:

After three days in this world, Apollo was still confused. Waking up in a house with a strange bird and a woman who said she was his mother before shoving him out the door into a small town was just the start of it. Not long after he had left the town, a large purple rat had attacked him in some tall grass, probably because he had accidentally entered its territory. The bird that had been following him around attacked it right away, but once the rat was down, he didn't eat it, instead landing on Apollo's shoulder and giving off a triumphant "Speeeaaar" and a sense of satisfaction. Not wanting to waste the chance to have some meat, Apollo had tried to eat the rat himself. That had been an unpleasant experience. Asking the bird why he had attacked the rat if he wasn't going to eat it prompted confusion at the concept, a show of concern for Apollo's safety, and an image of a larger, fiercer-looking bird, apparently what he wanted to be like. Since there was nothing he could do with or for the rat, he left it in the shelter of a fallen tree so that it wouldn't be attacked while it was unconscious.

Continuing on, they were attacked by another kind of bird, then a large squirrel-like animal, neither of which could be eaten. After that, Apollo made an effort to avoid any of the animals, but the bird following him would frequently fly off on his own if it saw another animal, usually a bird, returning happily after winning. He didn't seem to understand Apollo when he was told that he was being needlessly cruel, beating up other animals if he wasn't going to eat them. In fact, he was upset that Apollo would tell him to stop.

This time though, while the bird was off fighting another bird, Apollo heard a slight rustle in the branches of a nearby tree. He instinctively knew that there was some animal there; it wasn't the right kind of rustling for it to be the wind. He projected his lack of desire to hurt the animal and the impression of his walking past without harming it. True to his word, he kept walking past the tree without slowing, not making any sudden movements. The response he got back though was a feeling of distrust and an impression that all the other humans who had passed by had attacked it. The tone of the rustling changed slightly once his back was to the tree and he spun, raising an arm to block. One of the squirrel-like animals had jumped from the tree to attack him in the back, and scratched at his blocking arm before falling to the ground. It charged at him again and his hand dove into the courier bag under his cloak. There was no point in risking getting himself injured by trying to punch or kick it now that he was missing his knife, so he grabbed the first hard object he came across in the bag and threw the red and white round thing at the animal.

The object opened up and the squirrel-like animal turned to light and was drawn inside. The object closed and fell to the ground, wobbled a few times, and was still. Surprised and confused, Apollo crouched down and picked it up, looking it over for some clue as to what had happened. The bird returned and landed on his shoulder, his victory cry postponed upon seeing what Apollo had done. Apollo got a sense of curiosity and anticipation from him.

"Do you know what happened?" he asked the bird, projecting images of of the squirrel-like animal being drawn into the round object. In response, he got an image of pressing the raised part on the object, and did so. The object opened and the squirrel-like animal reappeared in a flash of light, cowering with a soft "Tret~". Apollo projected his apology and lack of desire to hurt her again. He didn't try touching her yet, instead reaching into his bag and pulling out one of the (disgusting, awful, completely inedible to humans) blue berries that the bird had liked and setting it in front of her. He felt her fear and did nothing more, just remaining crouched down and waiting for her to make the first move. She looked between him and the berry a few times, then darted forward, grabbed the berry, and retreated to eat it, the tiny scrapes on her body from hitting the ground gradually fading. He left another berry there and stood up.

"Make sure to hide if any more humans come along, okay?"

Projecting the meaning along with the words, he turned and continued on his way, the bird following him as usual. Unlike usual, he could hear the soft sounds of being followed. He turned. The squirrel-like animal was following them at a distance on her hind legs, the second berry he had given her clutched in her forepaws. The feeling he got wasn't of him as a source of food, but rather him being kind and a source of safety. He projected back the idea of her following him as a question, and got an affirmative response. Her behavior here confused him. Seeing him as a source of food wouldn't have been too surprising, although oddly fast for only having given her two berries. Wanting to follow him was strange though. Why would she give up her territory here to follow him? Even as weak as she was she could always hide if anything came along. Were the humans here really so cruel that she would rather abandon her territory to stay with him? His face darkened at that thought and he remembered what the humans who came to his grandfather's forest did, the wounded animals that he was forced to kill so they wouldn't suffer. Of course they were cruel here. That was what humans were like. He decided that he would let the squirrel-like animal follow him for as long as she wanted. Maybe he would be able to find a place that she would feel safe living in.

He crouched down and held out his hand, palm up and fingers nearly touching the ground. The squirrel-like animal put the berry in her mouth and darted to his hand. She stopped and looked up at him, then ran up his arm onto his shoulder, perching there and nibbling on the berry with a contented "Sen~". Apollo stood up and smiled as he resumed walking. He hadn't been expecting to have another friend following him, but he didn't mind at all. It was nice to have company.

Jyou Kido | Digimon | Not Reserved 2/3?

[personal profile] vendingmachine 2012-05-02 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
Personality: Jyou is… Jyou. As descriptive as that is, that's probably how most of his friends, the other six DigiDestined, would describe him. Jyou is the kind of guy who bumps into you accidentally on the street, and yet your coffee winds up all over him without a single drop landing on the ground, and then he apologizes. He's the kind of guy who is so much of a hypochondriac, he'll complain he's allergic to the dark. But he's also the kind of guy that will put himself in danger to protect someone who just spent the last five minutes insulting him. So, as dumb as the phrase "Jyou is Jyou" seems, it's pretty accurate.

At first glance, Jyou is a complainer. A whiner. Always going on about how his pants are riding up, or his shoes not offering the right kind of arch support for five hundred miles of walking, or about how his allergies and hay fever are acting up, especially in reaction to physical labor or things that frighten him. He's just that kind of guy. And that's not the end of it either, he's Number One at nagging on the team, known to scold and rag on the others if he think they are being too reckless. Being a worrywart is his default setting, and something he'll probably never grow out of. But it's not that he's trying to intentionally nag others into the ground, it's his overactive concern and need to protect them that brings out his worrying to such a high point. During the first Arc, the group of seven find several refrigerators with eggs, of which everyone (except Jyou) decides to eat immediately. He doesn't trust the food, and says to himself, "we'd be in real trouble if someone got sick. Why am I the only one to think of these things?" The eggs turn out to be fine and don't make anyone sick in the end, but his concern is in the right place. The same can be said for how suspicious he is of nearly every individual they meet outside of their team. Nearly every time the trust of a foreign Digimon is required, you can count on Jyou to chime in with a "can we trust this guy?" Not that one can blame him, more than half of the Digimon they meet who try to garter trust from the DigiDestined wind up stabbing them in the back.

Despite his tendency to overreact, typically in a loud and panicked manner, Jyou is more likely to be classified as an introvert. He doesn't like adventure, (or at least says he doesn't), he doesn't like fighting, sports are not fun to him, etc, etc. He'd rather sit at home and read a book or do homework, that is his idea of fun. No, really. One of the top things he says he misses when trapped in the digital world is doing homework. He tried to get his parents to send him to summer school instead of summer camp. To say the least, Jyou is a weird kid. But even for his introverted demeanor, he won't let it keep him from throwing himself into the middle of a fight, be it physical or just an argument between friends (most commonly Taichi and Yamato). Often times he (as well as Sora, for that matter) try to mediate between their group in an attempt to keep everyone calm and level. Not that he's exactly successful all the time, but he tries. As for throwing himself into a fight of the physical manner, if his friends are in trouble, particularly Takeru, he will, quite literally, throw himself at the enemy. The first example of this is when Unimon is infected with a black gear, and flying around causing destruction, Jyou's idea of solving the problem… is literally jumping off a cliff to try and land on a flying horse's back and pull out the gear. Which really, is one of the dumbest ideas he's ever had, right next to "jumping off a roof to once again tackle some enemy that could kill him in seconds, only to wind up nearly being choked to death", and then third place goes to "dive into water in an attempt to rescue Takeru. but forget he can't swim." All very brave decisions, yes, but also very stupid.

In contrast to what one would expect of an introverted, anxiety-ridden, overprotective kid, he's also very sarcastic. He's no stranger to making fun of his friends (in a non-malevolent manner, of course), nor name-calling, particularly of strange looking Digimon. It's mostly in defense, in order to try and make the Digital World seem less weird and frightening than it is. He'll admit that the Digiworld scares him more frankly than most. While his crest, the Crest of Reliability (in english) can also translate to meaning Faith or Honesty, Jyou is pretty ace in all three.

He knows very well he's the butt end of most jokes, his clumsiness and overreactions to things make him an easy target. Even with the character development he goes through throughout the series, he still struggles with his place in the team, and in life. He says to himself, "I'm a doormat. Good for a laugh. A joke. Yeah, good old Jyou. You can always rely on him to fall into the mud or off a cliff." Not exactly the confident words of one of the heroic DigiDestined. The problem is, for Jyou, it's easy to have faith in his friends, because they always seem to know what they're doing, they're confident. He still struggles with having faith in himself.

Strengths/Weaknesses:

Strengths:
+ RELIABLE
+ Studious
+ Careful/Cautious
+ Loyal
+ Dedicated
+ Considerate
+ Knows first aid/some medical knowledge.

Weaknesses:
+ Constantly worried
+ Hypochondriac
+ Cowardly (sometimes)
+ Clumsy
+ Unconfident
+ Terrible at cooking. HE TRIES THOUGH. He really tries…
+ Can't swim to save his life.

Character
Name: Hikaru Shidou
Series: Magic Knight Rayearth
Timeline: Post-series (manga) with Route memories intact!
Canon Resource Links: Wikipedia: Magic Knight Rayearth | Wikipedia: Hikaru Shidou

Personality: An enthusiastic, energetic, high-spirited young woman, Hikaru is optimistic, easygoing, and very difficult to bring down. This is made apparent during her very first appearance in the manga when her classmates ask her opinion about the utter lameness of the school's field trip location, Tokyo Tower, and Hikaru is shown to be all of the above, but especially enthusiastic. It's her enthusiasm, even, that attracts the attention of and near-immediately endears her to Fuu. It's with this same enthusiasm that she greets Cephiro, the new world in which she finds herself shortly thereafter, and her purpose in it, not to mention her newfound companions. In fact, she's the first of the magic knights to accept her purpose in this new world and embrace the responsibility she was told came along with it.

Although she is a tomboy in the simplest sense of the word, she is very much a girl in that she wears her heart on her sleeve. She smiles, laughs, cries, and is easily embarrassed; however, she is not what one would call worldly by any stretch of the imagination. Passionate, yes, but she is also quite childish and naïve, two qualities which cause people to perceive her as innocent, cute, and in need of protection. That she is, frankly, oblivious when it comes to certain matters does not help. She doesn't always pick up on or get jokes and may not understand the implications of something until someone spells it out for her. A more humorous example of the latter would be when Guru Clef grasps her skirt to examine her 'armor' and Umi begins yelling at him, calling him a pervert. Hikaru, having assumed nothing by Clef's action, honestly has no idea what the resulting fight is about and never gets it because no one ever spells it out for her. Likewise, when Lantis proposes to her, the romantic implications go straight over her head, resulting in her perceiving his proposal as a desire to be friends forever and always.

This brings us to another point about Hikaru's personality. She welcomes people with open arms and has a tendency to assume they have only the best intentions until they prove otherwise. The best example of this is when the magic knights meet Ferio in the Forest of Silence. That oblivious of hers factors in and it just doesn't register in her book that they should be cautious of the stranger, who may very well pose a threat to them. But oh, when someone proves otherwise and threatens her or especially her friends, Hikaru is ready and willing to fight. What's more is that she exercises great confidence in her ability to do so for a fourteen-year old from modern Tokyo. Greater than that, however, is the strength of her desire to protect her friends. She puts her life on the line time and time again throughout the series to protect Umi and Fuu and refuses to raise her sword against her dog, Hikari, when he attacks her as per the Fountain of Eterna's test. She isn't looking to be a martyr, though. She values her life, knowing that her death would bring sadness to her friends and loved ones. That thought alone gives her strength enough to burn through any obstacle that stands in her path and continue down her path with vigor. What's more is that she isn't one to hold a grudge. She doesn't hold a grudge against Lafarga in the first arc when he reforms after nearly killing her, nor does she begrudge Ascot or Caldina for their assault on her and her friends. Rather, she is the sort to forgive and greet a person with the same open armed approach as she does strangers, and with ease.

To put it simply, Hikaru derives her strength of will from her love of others and, in a world where everything is decided by will, by one's strength of the heart, she is not weak in terms of power. Determined and headstrong, when she sets out to do something, she won't turn back until she's seen it through, and she will see it through. It is this alongside her support of her fellow knights that makes her the leader of the group. It is these same qualities that enabled her to became the pillar of Cephiro following Emeraude. The strength of her heart, her will was greater than that of Eagle, who was essentially walking the sad path of Princess Emeraude. Not only that, but she refused to leave Eagle behind in the testing grounds despite knowing that that he didn't have long to live. Her will, her love for others is unfaltering and she holds nothing back.

To say that Hikaru has matured throughout the course of the series would be something of an understatement. When she initially arrived in Cephiro, she called things black and white and didn't think to question them. Zagato was evil for kidnapping and imprisoning the princess; the magic knights were good in that they were supposed to beat the bad guy, rescue the princess from her ivory tower, save the world, and be heroes. It was only after the truth was revealed and the damage done that she realized her error and, though depressed, set out to return to Cephiro and essentially right things. The reality sets in and she embraces it. She learned that everyone has their desires and that it's important to find out what they are and what the person is thinking before you go in swinging. She's aware that there are all manner of shades of gray now.

For all her positives, Hikaru does have some rather notable negatives. She's selfless, but she's selfless to a fault. She worries about her friends first, to the point that she doesn't complain when something is wrong with her and she disregards her own injuries. What's more is that she always tries to take everything upon herself. If she knows trying times are ahead, she will do her utmost best to take the world onto her shoulders so that her friends won't have to suffer them. In this same vein, she's slow to open up and really allow others to help her given that it took until into the second arc for her to do as much with Umi and Fuu. Even then, Umi had to prod her a bit. She is very much the type of person who will sacrifice her own happiness for the sake others.

Strengths/Weaknesses:

Strengths
+ Hikaru is a leader for her enthusiasm and strength of heart.
+ Hikaru cares deeply for her friends and will do everything in her power to protect them. On more than one occasion throughout the series, she has pushed herself to the brink of death to protect her loved ones. She's a very passionate, loyal person.
+ Hikaru won't hesitate to stand up for herself, but especially for her friends should the need arise.
+ From her pet dog to giant flying pet fish to griffons to gumdrop-shaped creator gods with a derpy expression permanently fixed upon their faces, Hikaru excels in understanding and communicating with animals to the point that it's canonically listed as a specialty of hers. She does not, however, literally speak animal language or hear animal's thoughts. It's just basic understanding, similar to how trainers in the pokeverse understand and communicate with their Pokemon. She's just really good at it canonically.
+ Hikaru was taught kendo from the time she was a small girl and is also a member of her school's kendo club. She excels in sword techniques to the point that the sword is the weapon that chooses her.
+ Hikaru is very agile and capable of performing incredible jumps. She is canonically capable of jumping the height a three-story(?) building to cut a monster in half.
+ Hikaru has been in Johto before. She has got this!

Weaknesses
- Hikaru tends to greet everyone with open arms and assume they have the best intentions towards her until they prove otherwise, which can prove an ample weakness.. She would take candy from strangers, people. Candy. From. Strangers. And talk with them openly. No, really.
- Hikaru can be very stubborn and very headstrong, which can be a huge detriment should she be on the wrong side of the looking glass given that her will is very strong and she is very much the type of person who puts her whole heart into her beliefs, whatever they may be. She isn't much of one for taking the time to second guess herself really, which can lead to regrets despite good intentions.
- She is not above trying to do things on her own in order to prevent her friends from worrying or suffering, which can lead to her taking the world on her shoulders. As if that wasn't enough, she isn't above sacrificing her own happiness for everyone else's sakes, which isn't exactly healthy, and it takes her time to get to the point she's willing to share the burden, really.
- Hikaru loses her energy and becomes virtually useless when she's hungry. It doesn't help that she doesn't always remember to eat, which can be a serious detriment when you're constantly on the move.
- Hikaru is vertically challenged. When she tells Umi and Fuu that she is the same age as them, they can't believe it and Fuu reveals she mistook Hikaru for an elementary schooler back at Tokyo Tower. She's short enough that she can't see new schools arriving on the same floor of Tokyo Tower for the heights of those around her. She's a little conscious about it and it can be a bit problematic.
- Hikaru will not raise a hand against a friend, even in self defense. During the trial at the Spring of Eterna, she is attacked by what she perceives to be the dog that grew up with her—her best friend, Hikari—and it really shakes her up. She does manage to raise her sword to Hikari once, but her thoughts are only for her friend and not herself. Had Princess Emeraude not helped her open her eyes to the truth, that the beast attacking her wasn't Hikari, she very likely would have been killed.

First Person Sample: [ The video opens to a brand, spanking newly evolved Quilava, who promptly winks at Clover the camera before shifting coolly, casually to one side of his trainer, who... is apparently packing for a roadtrip that requires her to completely empty the contents of her room's drawers and closet into the backpack on her bed. Curled up by said backpack is none other than the baby Eevee that hatched from the egg Ven gave her for Christmas; Misaki the Snover can be seen chasing an actively discharging baby Shinx around the room. The cameraman? Probably Shun the Ditto, if that tiny bit of pink over the lower left-hand corner is any indication, whilst Youta stands at the end of the bed opposite the backpack and Eevee, observing the shenanigans of his fellow party members coolly. Someone grew up a little bit. ]

Fuu-chan and I are leaving tomorrow morning to pick up Umi-chan from Newbark Town, so I was wondering, is there anybody already in Goldenrod who'd be willing to move the tree for us? I really don't wanna keep Umi-chan waiting too long, so I'd be thankful for the help!

[ A quil sounds and Rai the Shinx stops discharging, after which Misaki and Youta the Quilava dialogue briefly. Rai winds up being deposited on the bed beside Satou the Eevee, who stirs with a tired vee~. Hikaru's just about done packing now, and still talking. ]

I'm gonna look for Sora-kun on the way, too. I don't think he could've gotten very far, but if he did go toward Newbark Town, I'll find him for sure!

[ And she's sitting down on the bed now with a huff to look directly at the camera because this part is really important! Nevermind that Youta is taking this opportunity to slide into his trainer's lap for pets like the derp he still is, she's talking to you, Team Shouta. ]

I know it'll be kind of a long trip going to Newbark Town and back, but I promise we'll be back as soon as we can! I'll keep in touch in the meantime, too! Just... you'll let me know if you guys decide to move on before we get back, right?

Oh, oh! Rise-chan! I was shopping in the department store today and I found this stuff called GRO-LITHE that's supposed to make your grow really fast. I bought some for you! Do you wanna try it? It might help your hair grow back faster!

[ Kicking her feet idly, she offers the camera a smile, jumping topics one last time. ]

Anyway, let me know if you can help!

[ And the feed is cut by a fumbling Ditto. ]

Third Person Sample: It had been some time since Hikaru and and her companion, a Cyndaquil, had stumbled out of what seemed the umpteenth patch of pidgey-infested tall grass. It definitely wouldn't be the last, but the pair were of the mind to enjoy the break while they could. The constantly streaming music was pretty catchy, catchy enough that Hikaru was humming along. There was good music and she was in good—no, great company! She and her Pokemon partner clicked like, like—well, she wasn't really sure, but they got along really well, and that's what counted! The smile on her face widened at the thought that they'd reach Cherrygrove in no time if they kept up the pace they were going, but—and she paused, looking at her Cyndaquil—she was worried about her new friend. There had been a lot of Pidgeys in the tall grass, after all, and while they'd agreed to fight together, he had gotten hurt worse than she had in the process for protecting her.

“Are you tired?”

The weary chirrup of “quil” with which she was greeted caused the teenager to tilt her head at her pokemon, frowning. It wasn't the first time she had asked that question since they'd started their journey together, but hearing Cyndaquil sounding so tired was enough to make the red-head pause.

“How about I carry you for a little while?” she asked, then turned her eyes ahead again. “I'm not sure how much further the next town is. I'm pretty sure someone said there was a tree with berries a little further down the road and we already ate the whole bento Mom packed us.”

When her pokemon's reply was to stop and flail his stubby arms at her, Hikaru was quick to scoop him up with a giggle. She gave her Cyndaquil an affectionate squeeze that earned a more contented chirrup, then looked to the road ahead. The trainer they had literally ran into had said it wasn't far, so hopefully, hopefully they'd be able to make it to the tree before nightfall. She wouldn't have minded camping so much if they hadn't ran into so many pidgeys, but they had and she could tell Cyndaquil was tired and hungry even if he wasn't complaining.

“Just a little further and we'll set up a camp, okay? I'm sure I'll be able to find us something to eat!”

Character
Name: Kuroba Kaito
Series: Magic Kaito/Detective Conan
Timeline: After file 733 in DC, after chapter 30 in MK
Canon Resource Links: Wiki links!

In addition to the above information, I'd like to reapp with all of Kaito's memories in tact from his last time in Johto. I'd say he was home for about a month or two before dragged back again, which wouldn't really have much of an effect on his personality in being reapped.

Personality: Reused from my last app o/!

Talented magician Kaito Kuroba can be summed up in two rather simple words: class clown. An intelligent one at that, who devises ways to entertain himself through flipping Aoko's skirts, bringing magic tricks to school to use in front of his friends, pranking his teachers and/or classmates, and generally doing anything he can to get a few laughs from his audiences. He comes off as a charming slacker; his shirts are untucked, his collar unbuttoned, and he has a cheeky, sarcastic and blunt tongue to go with this casual exterior. He has an air of immaturity about him as well, as he's always teasing and picking on people, though only to crack a few jokes, never to hurt their feelings. He's kind of a pervert (as any teenage male is) and will gladly sneak into the girl's locker room and peek underneath skirts if he can, but he's not so lecherous to the point of where he comes off as a creep. It's all harmless fun, and taking advantage of women is something he'd never do. He also tends to choose inappropriate times for his pranks, and although he tries not to cross the boundaries from 'harmless fun' to 'incredibly cruel,' he does overstep the line at times. Luckily for Kaito, despite his immaturity he's responsible, and he knows how to make up for his more serious transgressions. He can be kind and thoughtful when he wants to be, and he does go out of his way to cheer people up or help them when they need it (he really is fairly chivalrous). Heart and smile are the most important things to him, and he has no qualms with spreading this philosophy around to others.

Kaito also has a healthy ego, and has no problems with considering himself both the greatest thief to ever live and one of the best magicians there is. Despite this, he does know his limits. He's stubbornly determined not to let anyone know what those are, though. This probably factors into the fact that the concept of poker face has been ingrained into his mind by his father since day one. He's been told, time and time again, not to let anyone in on what he's thinking, planning or feeling. Therefore, Kaito doesn't wear his heart on his sleeve, and it's very rare to see him without a smile of some sort, even when he's sad.

In stark contrast to the wild chaos that is Kaito, his alter-ego (Kaitou Kid) tends to be much more controlled. At least, on the surface. As Kid, Kaito adopts a more mysterious demeanor, speaking in riddles and flowery language to confuse his opponents and further his reputation as an enigma. He showboats, seeks attention, gives lengthy and impressive speeches to impress his audience, and he generally loves being Kaitou Kid. He's an adrenaline junkie who enjoys challenging himself, and Kaitou Kid is the perfect way for a bored intellectual like he is to really put his mind to work. Though it's important to note that while Kaito seems to enjoy thieving as Kid, he acknowledges that he isn't the good guy in this situation, even if his intentions are. He's refused to allow himself to be referred to as a modern day Robin Hood in canon, and he knows that stealing is wrong and that he's hurting people by doing it. He just also knows that for the greater good, sometimes a few laws need to be broken.

Aaaaaaand to wrap it all up because I'm not quite sure where else to fit this small part, he tends to get humorously grumpy a lot, especially when people turn the tables and tease him for once. He can totally dish it out, but he sucks at taking it. He also flails quite often, again when people try to tease him, and especially when fish are involved.

Strengths/Weaknesses: Also reused from my last app since it's all still applicable /o/

* Kaito's greatest asset is his intelligence and ingenuity. He's able to think quickly on his feet and make good decisions in dangerous situations to avoid getting either himself or someone else injured. He's also very resourceful and known for coming up with odd inventions (like his card gun).

* He also has the ability to remain cheerful at all times no matter what the situation is, and his humor and happy demeanor helps him spread this cheer to other characters who might need it.

*He's also very determined (he never gives up on a job once he starts it)

* And, being a thief who scales buildings and runs from the police on a nightly basis, he's very acrobatic. Thus why his starter Pokemon is a monkey.

Weaknesses
* On the other hand, while he's good at thinking on his feet, he can be reckless or impulsive at times. He isn't the type to throw away his life needlessly, but he is an adrenaline junkie and, and he's prone to taking dangerous risks (such as leaping off of the top of tall buildings).

* His sarcastic demeanor and independence also makes him too cheeky at times

* His bluntness might get him in trouble with his friends (particularly Aoko)

* And lastly, his ego occasionally causes him to be a bit too overconfident when it comes to certain things, and if anything is going to be his downfall as Kaitou Kid, it's going to be this.

First Person Sample: ... there's nothing like the sweet sounds of 8-bit theme music blasting from your Pokegear in the morning, is there? Now that's a noise I haven't heard outside of my dreams for quite some time! Which, uh. Is probably for the best. C'mon, who would ask for anything other than the sweet melody of choppy, repetitive tones to jerk them awake bright and early in the middle of the woods when the Hoothoots are just settling down for a day of sleep?

...

... there are some things I really didn't miss about this place. Can we seriously still not turn off the stupid music? Keh. Anyway, there's gotta be a place for me to pick up the rest of my team and the items I had before I left, right? This place might be dumb enough to kidnap us all and bring us back without any rhyme or reason, but it's not about to deprive us of our team and the fruits of our hard labor, right?

... right?

Oh c'mon! You've gotta be kidding me! I spent a year and a half earning those badges and training those Pokemon! What happened to that famous Kuroba luck, huh? Geez...

Third Person Sample: There was something wet and warm pressing against his face.

Kuroba Kaito wrinkled his nose in his sleep, letting out a light grump as he tilted his head away from the dampness and swatted at his cheek groggily with one hand. Whatever the source of this damp warmth was, it was disturbing his much needed rest, and right now all he wanted to do was curl back up in his bed and ignore whatever outside source was trying to drag him from his slumber. "Five more minutes mum," he mumbled, and when the shifting and swatting seemed to work, he relaxed back into the mattress... but only until he felt the wetness press against his cheek again.

"Stoppit..." he grumbled, shifting again to push the source of his discomfort away, "S'annoying..." His fingers pressed against a soft, furry source-- a dog?, his sleep-addled mind blearily concluded, which was followed by much confusion, We don't have a dog... With a sigh, the magician cracked open one eye to peer at this persistent creature.

A black, vulpine-shaped face framed with bright yellow circles stared back at him. For a moment, the haze of sleep prevented Kaito from reacting beyond a few bewildered blinks. "Breon!" the creature cooed in a pleased manner now that he had finally managed to wake its trainer, and he leaned forward to lick at his trainer's cheek again.

"K--" It all clicked quite suddenly, causing Kaito to bolt upright, scattering pillows to the ground as he did so, "Kei?!" The Umbreon nodded his head cheerfully as Kaito rain his fingers through the Pokemon's fur, as if the tactile confirmation of his presence would make this experience more real. "What are you-- how did you--"

It was only then that Kaito realized he had not woken up in his bedroom, and this fact was only confirmed by a vaguely familiar voice calling at him from the doorway. "Good morning!" The cheerful woman who claimed to be everyone's mother proclaimed, "Are you ready to start your journey today?"

Kaito stared. And stared. And stared for a few moments longer. Kei let out a displeased noise and butted his head against his trainer's palm. And it was only then that Kaito finally spoke again, incredulous.

"Are you kidding me?!"

Terminology/worldbuilding explanations

To expand: Kanade's world has been plagued throughout history by attacks from monsters called "Noise". These creatures are deadly to any human they touch and cannot be harmed by typical weapons. The only thing that can stop the Noise are pieces of "relics" developed by ancient humans, whose powers can be activated by singing certain songs. Not everyone is compatible with these relics, however - though research is underway to attempt to create artificial compatibility within the government's Noise response team, Division 2.

We don't see Kanade's early childhood, but it's the Noise-related events that really shape her personality. Three years before Kanade's pull point, she visits a relic excavation site with her parents, where the Noise attack. Kanade survives, but her parents are killed; grieving and reckless, she demands Division 2 give her a weapon so she can fight the Noise herself.

No matter how hard she trains or how many tests she undergoes, however, she can't achieve compatibility with the one incomplete relic in Division 2's possession, Gungnir. Desperate, she risks her own life by forcibly upping the drug injections from the testing; the results take an enormous toll on her body, but she manages to activate Gungnir - which grants her a protective battle suit and a weapon with which to take her revenge, provided she sings while fighting. This armor and weapon, born of a relic, are together referred to as a "Symphogear".

Kanade joins forces with a girl named Tsubasa Kazanari, who'd accidentally activated and proven naturally compatible with the relic Ame no Habakiri, to fight the Noise. After dispatching one assault, Kanade's thanked by survivors as she unearths them from the rubble. Hearing her song, they claim, helped them hang on and not give up. Kanade doesn't know how to respond, but after thinking it over she's clearly touched.

Shortly thereafter (and presumably not as a coincidence), she and Tsubasa debut as an idol duo, "Zwei Wing", rising on the charts while still secretly combating the Noise. As Zwei Wing's popularity reaches its peak, Division 2 decides to use the idol cover to help fuel one of their relic experiments: they've come into possession of a complete relic, but a tremendous amount of "phonic gain", or musical energy, is needed to activate it. Through the Zwei Wing concert, the Division 2 research team hopes to activate the relic, which would be an immeasurable help in fighting the Noise.

Kanade and Tsubasa perform as scheduled, and the activation appears to be a success. The concert is ambushed by Noise, however, which land and begin slaughtering the panicked, fleeing audience. Kanade leaps into action, singing her song to activate Gungnir and beginning to fulfill her duties as a soldier: using her Symphogear, she kills as many Noise as she can during the duration of her song.

As her song winds to its end, however, there's no end to the attackers. Tsubasa joins her partner in the fight, but the odds are against them. Despite this, Kanade still rushes to shield a girl who'd been hurt in the attack and thus hasn't made it out of the stadium. Her armor splinters, and pieces of it fly back, impaling the girl.

Kanade rushes to her side and implores the girl not to give up on life, but there's no end to the Noise. To defeat them, Kanade sings her "swan song", a song whose frequencies unleash the full power of her Symphogear without any heed to the strain placed on the wearer. The song destroys the Noise army and enables rescue crews to bring the girl to safety in time, but proves too great a strain on Kanade's body. She dies in Tsubasa's arms, and is only seen for the rest of the series in flashbacks and as a spirit-mentor in Tsubasa's mind, offering advice that Tsubasa (who, by the end of Kanade's life, is the person she's closest to) imagines Kanade would give.

Personality:
Explaining Kanade is difficult, given the abysmal job she does of explaining herself - so abysmal, in fact, that the cast spends much of canon mulling over her motivations. Easy-going in downtime but ruthless against the Noise, a relentless tease but also frequent dispenser of vague, symbolic wisdom, Kanade barrels through life without much pause. She skirts the question when asked about personal motivations, alternates between rambling and short, snappy epigrams, and grows offscreen from a vengeance-bent hellion to a girl who claims she can't have fun onstage if her partner's afraid. Kanade refuses to give a straight answer to anybody about anything - just bright, cheery confidence, a sassy remark, and a smile.

Yet everyone who tries to figure her out, particularly her partner Tsubasa, are the types of people who do dwell on their own emotions and motivations. By the time she performs at her final concert, Kanade has become grounded enough that she doesn't even think about why she feels the way she feels. She operates on instinct without dwelling on what those instincts tell her; she's certain everything will work out against the Noise because she knows she'll do whatever it takes to get the job done. Those instincts are usually on the mark - because Kanade doesn't sweat the small stuff, she's able to see beyond what people say and do to the core of what drives them forward.

Even when she does pause for reflection, Kanade sounds satisfied. She's able to die smiling because she's lived her life to the fullest, though she also cries - presumably because said life is over, when she'd wanted to go on living and singing with Tsubasa forever (she never explains her own reason for living, but from the support she gives her partner it's clear Tsubasa is a considerable part). Her teasing - a nonstop feature of her relationship with Tsubasa - seems to stem from a similar impulse: Kanade doesn't have the greatest filter between her brain and her mouth, so she voices her observations frankly, no matter how "mean" those observations might sound.

Her disinclination for introspection also makes Kanade a surprisingly selfless girl, given her relaxed, cocky attitude. She's struck speechless when told her songs have the power to save people, and clings to those words with all her might, since the will to live - as passionately and fully in the present as possible, taking personal action to meet her goals - has driven her even before her parents' death. She snaps at Division 2's head that she obviously needs to be the one who avenges her parents, personally, and continues to take her own view as self-evident for the rest of her life. That view happens to deal mostly with self-determination; she can't find those words for it, but her advice usually implies everyone has to find their own peace of mind ("Just do what you want," her memory tells Tsubasa when the latter wonders how to proceed: "It's simple, right?").

Although Kanade's usually casual almost to the point of disrespect, only the Noise and defeatism make her actually lose her temper. Both in the series proper and a prequel manga chapter, she point-blank refuses to let others give up on themselves and their lives. Kanade isn't out to preach - she knows everybody's got to find their own path, even if her own seems obvious to her - but after losing her parents and fighting the Noise, like hell is she going to let anyone defeat themselves.

Kanade isn't perfect. She can be a bear to deal with, particularly if she latches onto an easy target for teasing, and her casual nature can come across as insensitive in the wrong situations (her death speech to Tsubasa takes the form of a string of wisecracks, seemingly heedless of Tsubasa's tears). She's loud, restless, impatient, overbearing, and doesn't acknowledge she's listening to others in typical ways - but she's also perceptive, centered, loyal, and supportive. "It feels oddly nice having someone listen to your songs," she tells Tsubasa before they join Zwei Wing: a rare admission of a personal feeling, the desire to share and reach others, to be their strength. For Kanade, the sky's the limit - if something needs doing, she's there to get it done. Following her instincts helps Kanade to relax: they won't steer her wrong, since they lead her to live giving everything her all.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
+ At peace with herself
+ Optimistic and easy-going
+ Always ready to advise her friends, but is non-judgmental
+ Physically fit, particularly upper-body strength (Gungnir's weapon portion is an enormous spear)
+/- Rushes problems head-on, always finishes what she starts - if necessary, at her own expense
+/- Relentless tease (bordering on trolling)
+/- Relaxed, thoughtless attitude can seem irresponsible
- Terrible at directly expressing herself
- Impatient and irreverent
- Can't sit by and watch others be endangered (also makes her nosy)
- Horrifying when she loses her temper

[The feed opens to the sight of Kanade's face, grinning mischievously with a finger to her lips. It pans across the sunny forest, quiet except for the ever-present music; then, slowly, a new voice chimes in.

A slow pan down reveals Kanade's Torchic, its back to the feed, chirping in time to the chorus. The longer it sings, the more it begins almost to dance, swaying its tail and fluttering its wings. The video moves closer bit by inching bit; when Kanade's close enough to breathe on bird's bobbing feathers, she harmonizes with the creature's humming.

It squawks and falls backwards; Kanade straightens, grinning at the camera.]

And there you have it! Shy little thing, isn't it? But look how many nice people enjoyed the show!

[She shows the feed to Torchic, who chirps with its head burrowed sulkingly into its shoulders. Kanade laughs and flicks the bird on its forehead.]

Seriousness ain't like you, kid! Come on, the concert's only just beginning. What's a world fulla music without anyone to enjoy it?

One, two!

[And she begins to sing along with the melody. After a few strains, Torchic relents and rejoins.

She scoops it up and films them singing together. Both of them are smiling away.]

Third Person Sample:
In spite of everything, her stomach still grumbled.

"So has Hell got a fast-food joint or what?" Kanade asked the man standing in the middle of the street, welcoming her to the "world of Pokémon". "Not that I don't appreciate the welcoming committee, but thinking's no good with distractions, you know?"

The man continued, unflappable - his name was Oak, apparently, and people called him the Pokémon Professor. Though irritated, Kanade backed off, cleaning out one ear. So this was what happened after you died: you got your ear talked off by an old guy in a coat. Kind of an anticlimax, all things considered....

...nah, she couldn't sustain a joke about that. Something nagged at her about this setup. It wasn't brimstone or pearly gates - no big deal - but it also felt entirely too vibrant, too rich. Being dead, in short, sure felt lively.

Oh, well. So much for that!

"All right, I'll bite. Welcome accepted, old man." Kanade let herself look cross for a moment longer before breaking into a half-serious smirk, cocking her hips and sending her stage costume (but she'd been wearing her Gear - heh, turns out you really couldn't take it with you) swishing against her hips. No point in worrying over unknowns. The only way to figure out what the hell (or lack thereof) was going on was to head out and seize this world, whatever it was. "Not what I was expecting, but sure, I'll take it."

The man opened his mouth, presumably to continue his explanation; Kanade held up a hand to stop him in his tracks. She could figure the rest out on her own, but one thing about this place would take some explaining. "Just one question."

A small orange head poked out of her hair; talons scrabbled behind the back of her ear as Kanade pointed up. "What's with the bird?"

Warning: History contains potential triggers for child abuse, rape, and emotional abuse.

Chris' world is one plagued by creatures called Noise, which kill any human that contacts them, and can't be harmed with traditional weaponry. Only weapons known as Symphogear, made from parts of ancient, powerful relics that are activated by song, can destroy them.

Chris' parents were both famous musicians, who (along with Chris) went to South America in order to help refugees in a war-torn region. When Chris is eight, they are killed in the crossfire. Chris is abducted by a local gang and kept as a slave (where it is implied she is possibly raped). Six years later, the Japanese government (who had been keeping an eye on musicians as Symphogear candidates) manage to rescue her an bring her back to Japan.

Before she can arrive, a mysterious woman named Fine abducts her. Fine gives her the Ichii-bal Symphogear, which only Chris can activate. Fine grooms Chris to be her own person weapon, twisting her mind and motivations through psychological manipulation and outright torture (and potentially molestation). Fine also gives her Nehushtan and Solomon's Cane, both completed relics that can be used by anyone.

Two years after Fine first abducts her, and when she is now sixteen, Fine orders Chris to capture and bring her the new wielder of the Gungnir Symphogear, a girl named Hibiki Tachibana. Both of her attempts fail (once by interference of another Symphogear wielder, Tsubasa Kazanari, and the second time by Hibiki gaining control of the completed relic Durandal). Insanely jealous of Fine's obsession with Hibiki and Hibiki's seeming natural talent with relics, and afraid that Fine will abandon her, she decides to try to defeat and destroy Hibiki with her own power. Her attempt fails when Fine interferes, reclaims Nehushtan (Chris has already given back Solomon's Cane), and disowns Chris. Devastated, she follows Fine when she leaves, only to have Fine send Noise after her to try to kill her.

Personality:

Chris is outwardly closed off, aggressive, and not dependent on others at all. She rejects any attempts by others to form emotional or personal connections with her, and is instead closed off and even hostile. Her hostility mostly manifests towards adults, while around children and peers, she is disgruntled and prickly at worst. She's outspoken about her ideals, but at the same time can often lapse into periods of reflection. She's somewhat self-conscious, and reacts to embarrassment with prickly and defensive behavior as well as denial. It's during battle, however, that she really shines. Arrogant and confident (and not entirely without reason), she often mocks and belittles her opponents. She throws off her self-consciousness and lets herself live in the moment. But even outside of battle, she makes the world her adversary.

Her obsession for battle partially stems from her fixation with destruction. Chris is, at heart, and idealist: her true desire is to rid the world of war. It just so happens that her views have been twisted so that she believes the best way of achieving this is to destroy everything. She believes that the answer is to destroy everyone with the power and the will to fight, and then everything will be just fine. Despite her destructive tendencies, she hates to see the innocents uninvolved in battle getting hurt. She'll even, if she has the ability to, help them out, and often asks for advice from others. This doesn't usually extent to adults, though: she has a deep seated distrust and hatred of all adults, due to her traumatic experiences by their hands. She also (due to strong influences of others with similar beliefs) thinks that humans are unable to really communicate with others. She's come to believe that the only true method of communication is through pain.

But there's a part of her that either doesn't believe this, or doesn't want to. In fact, a lot of Chris' mind is deeply rooted in denial. The beliefs that she so outspokenly supports are in a large part attempts to rationalize a world that's abused her. She wants a supportive environment and happy, full life of friends and family (seeing how she readily accepts it later), but the way she's grown up and her usual methods force her to reject them. When confronted with positive emotions - love, friendship, comfort - she instinctively rejects them because she doesn't know how to process them. For most of her life she's been alone, so she's accepted that as truth and rejects any attempts to change that.

In the end, Chris is just a teenage girl driven to seek destruction and reject company because it's the only thing she knows.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
+ Determined
+ Independent
+ Confident
+ Has integrity
+ Not gullible
- Emotionally unstable
- Cut-off and distrusting
- Arrogant
- In denial
- Hostile and even a little cruel

First Person Sample: [The feed clicks on suddenly. There's a girl standing center camera, looking quite smug with her large smirk. She toys with a pokeball as she speaks.]

I beat them all. Oh, are you surprised? Idiots! Of course I beat them.

[She tosses the ball into the air, and catches it violently. Her expression drops to that of restrained rage.]

You know, most of the trainers around here talk about "friendly battles". Idiots- there's no such thing.

[Chris looks away into the distance, with a look of grim resolution bordering on mania.]

I'll destroy them. I'll destroy them all. And then-

[She looks back at the camera, and smiles. Almost... sweetly.]

Well, things will be better then! Right? Ah...

Yeah. So don't you all worry. Or get in my way.

[The feed clicks off.]

Third Person Sample: That- that thing was following her.

Beast - no, monster! She was pretty sure it wasn't a Noise (but like hell was she going to touch it to double check), but it was still... It still had claws like knives and looked like it could slice a person in half by nodding. It'd been following her ever since she left that... weird scientist. Normally, she'd just activate her Symphogear and destroy the big, white monster, but her Symphogear wasn't working and that had been enough to send her into a near-panic. So she'd run, without thinking, towards the forest.

And now Chris was stuck lost (she wouldn't admit it), with night starting to fall, in the middle of a wild and forested path with a large white monster following her.

"Get away," she called back to the thing, again, "Get away!" And sure, it drew back, but only to circle around and continue the relentless pursuit of her.

Well, then, she'd just keep going.

Or so was her plan, at least. But the grass was getting thicker and it was getting darker. She pretended not to mind, just grit her teeth and pushed on. The monster didn't follow her in this time, though. It stood on the edge of this particular patch of grass, and stared at her with those big red eyes. Once she realized this, she turned, and scoffed.

"Ha!" She called back, "Finally getting the picture? And I only had to drill it into your head. Idiot..." The monster remained unfazed (to her slight annoyance), just staring. Staring! She clenched her fists, about ready to-

From behind her, a wild shuffling. The grass parted and- and another monster, bird-like and all brown and tan burst out angrily. Chris took a few steps back - the thing seemed hostile, and hostile in her direction. Hardly a threat... but, she was unarmed, left with only fists to fight something that she suspected to be more dangerous than just a standard bird. But she put her fists up anyway, and set into a determined smirk. She'd seen worse. (Right...?)

But the monster - the first monster, the big white one - had lept suddenly into the grass beside her. And just when the bird-monster had made a flying lunge for her, claws outstretched. The monster tackled it, knocking it to the ground a few feet away. The bird, stunned and startled, flapped lopsidedly away into the darkened forest.

Chris stood shocked, and the white monster stood calmly before her. It had saved her- It had saved her-

"Nobody asked you!" She snapped at it, to which it turned and stared up at her. Unnerved, she crossed her arms and turned away. It'd- ha! As if she needed that...

She didn't shout at it to stop following her when she set off again, though.

Character
Name: Agnus
Series: Devil May Cry
Timeline: Post Opera House
Canon Resource Links: http://devilmaycry.wikia.com/wiki/Agnus

Personality: Agnus, unlike his name, is no mere lamb or lackey. Manipulative, cunning, grandiose, and secretive; Agnus is a puppeteer and a scientist serving in the shadows. Though he is seen to show a genuine fealty to His Holiness, his misanthropic dialogs with Dante reveal a much more sinister nature that is expressed in his work and aims. His workaholic nature is tied to the enjoyment and pride he shows when given the opportunity to brag to Nero in-game. In his interactions with Nero he is revealed to he is sadistic and wicked, though cowardly and quick-tempered. He appears to greatly enjoy toying with Nero and Credo through using Kyrie and shows a flair for the dramatic in his dialog and entrances in the various scenes he is seen in.

From Dante we are shown his melodramatic and misanthropic nature coupled with his deep-seated scientific curiosity desperately craving to learn the secrets of demonic power from the man himself. Before Dante, we are introduced to a nearly comedic melodrama played out with Agnus casting himself as both the speaker of human folly and the guardian blocking Dante's path to reclaim Yamato. He loses the cowardly nature, quick temper, and crotchety whimsy displayed in all his appearances before and leaves himself stripped bare of all but a deep and scathing hatred for mankind until the very end. Upon his loss we see him revert back immediately to shock, awe, fear, and wonder This curiosity is expressed to with Nero, intermingled with the sadistic games he plays.

He is frequently seen scribbling notes on a clipboard with the heading 'Nero = Dante ???' and appears to write quickly while irritated, but slowly while musing. Another of his quirks is the frequent stutter he exhibits frequently in times of stress, nervousness, or rage. His quick temper causes him to stutter more frequently than other traits, revealing that he is a temperamental- perhaps even capricious character putting on an air of shady smugness. The loyalty he shows to his holiness is ambiguous at times, questioning whether it is genuine piety or a lust for knowledge and demonic power it provides in light of the more misanthropic and sadistic elements of his character. It could be said that he truly views that only through the Order's plans could humans be made to see their folly and accept the rule of their 'god.' However, it could also be said he wants to see humans punished dearly for this same folly by the fires of the Savior's perdition.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
+ Quick-minded
+ Clever
+ Methodical
+ Resourceful
+ Dedicated
- Capricious
- Easily Flabbergasted
- Can lose focus if something big and interesting presents itself to him
- Melodramatic
- Quick to anger
- Holds grudges

However, Agnus is capricious and quickly goes from confidence to irritation with few short seconds upon very little provocation. He is also very quick to cower in some instances where his plans fall apart due to unforeseen circumstances. He is easily distracted by certain unknowns if they present interesting potential in his eyes, and can be lead astray from his thoughts if one such thing appears to him at critical moments.

...I am Agnus. For the time being that will serve as sufficient information to identify myself among others using this band. If any other members of the Order of the Sword currently exist within this realm I advise you to contact me immediately. -He pauses again and reaches a free hand up to adjust his monocle.-

This infernal m-m-music is wearing on the last of my p-p-patience. The manual described a means to change it via radio broadcasts. I will examine this function p-p-p-presently if only in the hopes I can find an opera broadcast to sate my growing frustrations. Agnus, now concluding b-broadcast. Over and out.

Third Person Sample:

"And the rest is silence." The words rang endlessly in his mind as he reopened his eyes. An irritable sigh escaped him as he looked over to the wispy, ethereal creature buzzing around him with a most irritable enthusiasm. Misdreavus, a pokemon, a creature of this strange world he had somehow found himself in. Everything about it was aggravating and wondrous all at once, from the organization he had managed to find himself among to that godawful music in the background that never ever seemed to want to cease and just give him-

Agnus caught himself subconsciously adjusting his monocle. The mere doing so alerted him in that he was growing far more irritated at the numerous unknowns around him than he likely should have. The brown-haired male drew his hand up to shift strands of hair from his vision and silently shifted his posture. The answers, he assumed, would show themselves in due time. He had to make the most of his situation at present by means of using the resources he had been granted. The...organization he had become inducted into, 'Team Rocket', appeared to be some clandestine syndicate of criminals and low lives. It was hardly fitting for someone of his position but there was next to no other choice. It was this or... No. Destiny, as it were, had seen fit to have him manifest from whatever vapors had brought him onto their front doors. He was no of their order, at their disposal, out of the sight of His Holiness, his Savior.

"Anima." He barked, though it was only slightly above the normally soft range of his voice. "I am perfectly aware of where I need to be right now." He continued with a leveled and cold glare aimed at the creature that was buzzing about him as though to remind him he had someplace to be. Agnus reached into the pockets of his uniform and removed the new gloves he had been issued. They were fitted and nearly as comfortable as his old ones, a strange sense of nostalgia seemed to lean uncomfortably at the edge of his emotions. A human folly like any other which he quickly brushed aside and went back to fixing the lapels of his jacket. He glanced over at a small mirror within the miserably small thing of a locker he had been assigned and scowled. It looked wrong, he felt unimaginably furious, but this was a new world and he had to...for the time being at least, play by the new rules.

"Very well, then. T-t-time to get d-d-d-down to business at hand." He stuttered in frustration as he closed the door and turned on his heels. "Grunt Agnus. Grunt. How utterly foolish and irritating..." He mused with each step out of the locker room and toward the room in which he was to meet his peers and superiors for training. "This absolutely will not last. I will claw my way b-b-b-back to a facsimile of my position if it k-k-k-k-kills me."

Character
Name: Allura of Arus
Series: Voltron: Defenders of the Universe/Voltron Force
Timeline: Season 1/Ghost in the Lion
Canon Resource Links:

Allura (DotU)
Allura (Voltron Force)

Personality: Princess Allura, royal daughter of Arus lived a lonely childhood; her parents were often away at royal functions which left her at home alone. She filled this void by befriending some intelligent space mice who soon became her dearest friends. Shortly after, her parents died leaving her in the care of Coran, an advisor of her father's. As she grew she learned what it was to be disciplined and diplomatic so that she could run Planet Arus as her family once did.

When the Voltron Force arrived on Arus in search of the ancient robot that would help them defeat their enemies, Allura found a new sense of purpose. She happily aided the team locate the lions that formed Voltron and helped them restore it to it's former glory.

When blue lion pilot Sven was unable to continue his duties, Allura took up the mantle. At first she found it difficult to juggle both piloting one fifth of the universe's greatest defender and her princess duties but with the help of her friends she found a way to do both.

Being a member of the Voltron Force isn't all fun and games though, after the destruction of Prince Lotor's robeast and the man himself there was a celebratory ceremony on Earth which turned sour when the giant robotic lions turned on the crowd. It was thought they were dangerous and thus the team was disbanded, even speaking of them incurred the greatest penalties.

So Allura went back to Arus to rule over her planet. Or so it seemed, the determined members of the Voltron force took it upon themselves to try and figure out what happened to their robotic lions. The galaxy needed a hero and that hero was Voltron.

Strengths/Weaknesses:

Strengths: Disciplined and compassionate, Allura has learned how to act within the boundaries of the Galaxy Alliance while also feeling great sympathy for her subjects and others who have become victims of Lotor's terrible reign. She is often the voice of reason to those around her and with the confidence she exudes people more often than not listen to her.

Allura is also not afraid of trying new experiences or stepping outside her comfort zone. When the blue lion was left without a pilot, Allura with no training on the matter stepped in to take up the mantle. It was not the wisest idea at the time, but she got better at it.

Weaknesses: Allura can be impulsive, sometimes she does not think things all the way through which results in her friends having to get her out of tight squeezes. Also her compassion for those she represents also gets her into trouble; Allura would rather sacrifice herself than to let people suffer.

First Person Sample: [After the quite confusing morning she has had, working the little technical advice she had been given was the easy part. She cleared her throat as she addressed whomever was on the other side.]

Greetings people of...[She pauses and looks down at the Growlithe sitting next to her.] Where are we?

[He growled softly in response.]

[She sighed.] My name is Allura and I am very, very far from home. I'm not even that sure how I got here to be honest; I remember catching up to the man who stole my lion and then...I think he froze me somehow, all I could feel was the cold. Then I woke up here. I have to say going from an ice world to here is a nice change.

Also there is this animal who has been following me around since I woke up. [She turned the camera on him.] He's like a little tiger dog, I have never seen anything like him before. What do I do with him? I tried shooing him away but he won't leave, do I keep him?

I have so many questions, I am hoping someone out there is willing to provide me some answers.

Third Person Sample: Allura turned off her Pokégear and looked down at the Growlithe who was still happily sitting by her feet. She had this overwhelming need to get him back to his mother, surely he wasn't big enough to be out on his own.

She kneeled down and let him sniff her hand "Do you even have a mother, little one?" Allura patted him on the head "I don't have one either. Well, I guess if we're going to be together for a little while, you will need a name." He was an odd mix of both a tiger and a puppy, his exuberance reminded her of someone or rather something else. "I think I shall call you Blue, do you like that?"

The Growlithe bounced, happy with his new name. Allura smiled and stood up, nodding. Allura decided it was time to look the the backpack she was given earlier, maybe it would help her decide her next move. She found clothing, a packed lunch, toiletries and a handbook, Allura smiled "The powers that be at least prepare you for the journey ahead."

Sitting down, Allura took out the handbook and started to read. There was a lot of information to take in like the fact that the Pokémon seemed perfectly happy to fight alongside the person who trained them. Allura wasn't one to judge.

As she read, her mind started to wander back to the scene she left behind; the ice planet and the other Voltron Force members, she hoped they were okay and that she would be able to see them again, still she didn't think that was going to happen soon.

She went back to her book.

"This suggests we should go to Cherrygrove City, it sounds pretty. What do you think little guy, want to go on an adventure with me?"

The Growlithe wagged his tail.

"Alright then, tomorrow we will set out."

Character
Name: Miu Matsuoka
Series: Strawberry Marshmallow
Timeline: Post series
Canon Resource Links:
Character reference: Here!
Episode summaries: Here!

It’s really just a show where girls hang out. If more is needed, let me know!

Personality:
Miu Matsuoka is a problem child. She usually doesn’t listen to others, and she often does things for her own amusement even if no one else finds them funny. This can range from a simple prank (destruction of property! Throwing a piggy bank out of a window! Trying to sell her junk at a fair!) to super elaborate if she’s in the mood (hitting a foul ball into her friend’s classroom, breaking the window in the process, so she can go get the ball and “accidentally” reveal her embarrassing last name). She’s horrible at staying silent, and she gets bored easily, but that’s okay--she’s the butt monkey, and people just hit her for it.

She’s also the stereotypical vain young girl. She’s obsessed with being the cutest, and as an only child, her mother buys her a lot of clothes and outfits for her. She gets upset when people ignore her and try to say otherwise…and she constantly reminds everyone just how cute she is, even going so far as to make “cute faces” that tend to weird her friends out.

Despite all this, she does have a bit of a lonely streak. As an only child, she constantly invades Chika’s and Nobue’s house just because she doesn’t like to get lonely or bored. In fact, when she gets lonely or bored, she breaks out toys that have been put away or starts to use her imagination, often with results that get her hit. For the most part, she’s able to ignore when people make fun of her, but when she’s serious, she can really get her feelings hurt, especially when she feels like she’s being ignored for someone else.

Despite how annoying she is with her pranks and inability to concentrate, Miu isn’t a bad friend to have. She actually does amuse her friends, and she’s able to keep them from getting bored…even if she has to copy their homework. Though she’s a bad student, she shows in the series that she’s actually quite smart--she is creative and quick-thinking, and she also knows a lot of random knowledge that the other friends are seemingly unaware of. Of course, she could just be watching too much TV…

Miu is annoying, obnoxious, and definitely an acquired taste. She loves to be the center of attention, and she loves it even more if she’s called cute, but part of her is lonely…just a small part, though. She’s still a loud-mouthed firecracker who isn’t afraid of doing what she wants to do, even if it’s completely random and makes no sense to her…and even if she breaks something in the process!

Strengths/Weaknesses:
+ Extremely cute. She says so herself, so it must be true.
+ Endlessly creative! She usually uses these powers to be extremely annoying, but she knows how to think outside of the box.
+ Very persistent! Again, she uses this to be annoying most of the time...
+ Good with art! It’s canon that while her art subjects might be strange, she does know how to draw well.
+ Good memory! She remembers her best friend’s sister’s birthday even though her best friend forgets.
+ Good with sports! She once hit a ball through a third or fourth story window in PE baseball just to embarrass someone in that classroom.
- Gets bored easily! It's what she suffers from the most.
- Very lazy! Good luck getting her to do any homework.
-Really bad with money! Why save for a festival when you can have comic books and candy TODAY?
- Kind of REALLY obnoxious

First Person Sample:
Hey, everyone! Listen up! It’s time for an announcement from the cutest in all of Johto and Kanto, Miu-chan~!

This place is too boring now, so I’ve taken it into my hands to craft a masterful plan to have some fun! And no, I’m not going to use my squirt gun this time because someone broke it and owes me a new one!

This is the plan! Our time is now! We’re going…to play hide-and-go-seek! Whoever finds me will get an amazing reward, got it? I’m already hiding!

And someone better come looking for me this time, okay? I mean it! Don’t leave me here!

Third Person Sample:

There are certain things that Miu Matsuoka doesn’t like to do. She doesn’t like to do her homework. She doesn’t like anything boring, and she certainly doesn’t like being ignored. Today, though, she just doesn’t want to carry her shopping bags in the sun all the way back to her room at the Goldenrod Inn.

“Hey, hey, I’m so very flushed~. Won’t you carry my bags me for me?”

She tried attracting the attention of NPCs for help first, but her charms didn’t seem to be working on them. They ignored her, told her she was cute, and kept moving. She even tried clinging to them, using her best cute faces...but nothing would work. Her Shinx, Taiga, would have been embarrassed for her if she hadn’t acted like this almost every day to begin with.

“It’s just not working, Taiga! Stupid NPCs. They don’t even know who they’re working for, you know. They should be calling me boss.” She slumped against the nearest street pole, completely aware of the fact that she would have made it already if she had just carried the bags herself. “It’s no use, I’m going to have to use my cutest attack, huh?” Her Shinx buried his face in his paws at the very mention of it.

“Hey! No complaining, Mister! It’s do or die time, got it? It’s time to show everyone just how cute I am, ‘kay?!”

She waited carefully, waiting for the right guy...there! She ran up to him and tapped him on the shoulder. When he turned around, she was fidgeting in place, her practiced pretty face in effect. “Hey, hey, Mister~. Do you think...”

“Oh, sure. There’s a bathroom in that Department Store.”

She didn’t even get a chance to respond before he started walking off. “H-hey! That’s...That’s not fair!”

Nico Robin 2/2

[personal profile] thetruehistorian 2012-05-05 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality: Robin's personality has actually evolved quite a bit over the course of the series. When we first meet her, she's sinister and sneaky, cocky, and simply aggravating. This can be credited to the double life she was leading at the time, her outward actions and motivations being seen through the lens of her title as Vice-President of Baroque Works; the villain's head henchwoman. But, even while she's still a part of that organization, we begin to learn that "Miss All-Sunday" is not who she appears to be. Over the course of her adventure with the Strawhat Pirates, we learn that Robin, while often standoffish or severe, is actually an involved, deeply caring individual. Her methods of expressing fondness can easily be classified as strange, but the crew has come to accept and appreciate her quirks, and now will actually call her out on them from time to time.

Robin is, at present, a much softer woman than she once was. She is more openly opinionated, sharing more of her thoughts and feelings with the world than before. While still comparatively quiet, she no longer simply stares blank faced at what happens around her, opting instead to briefly comment on circumstances. Her facial expressions have become more lively since being reunited with her crew as well. She is more relaxed and enthusiastic than she used to be, exuding an unspoken confidence in herself, her abilities, and those of her nakama. I believe a key turning point for Robin was the moment she realized that her desire to become stronger for Luffy was the first time she'd ever wanted to change herself for someone else's benefit, and it affected her whole character. Still, there is much about Robin that remains unchanged. She still won't hesitate to point out morbid possibilities, though now she often does so with a playful smile. She is still grim and succinct in battle, still passionate about pursuing the things she feels are important.

Robin has a strong sense of "nakama"- the family you choose rather than the family that's given to you by birth. The Strawhat Pirates are the only family she's known, the Thousand Sunny (their ship) the only home she needs. She will stop at nothing to keep them safe. She also feels a strong responsibility to humanity- particularly those who have passed on, and can no longer tell their story to the world. Everyone has something to offer, some lesson they learned or that can be learned from studying their life, and Robin knows that those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it. The loss of her people under the relentless barrage of a Buster Call drove this concept home to her, and it is a lesson she has not forgotten. She keeps in constant remembrance that points on a map represent more than just the curve of an island's shore or the names of city streets.

Strengths/Weaknesses: Robin possesses strength in a number of areas, and even without her Devil's Fruit Ability, she makes a powerful foe. She is clever, intuitive, intelligent, a quick learner, and not prone to losing her focus. Her memory serves her well, and she knows at least a little bit about a wide variety of topics. She's learned to use her surroundings to her advantage, whether she needs to quietly disappear in an instant or perhaps acquire certain objects otherwise out of her reach, she's certain to find a way to succeed. If needed, she picks up quickly on the mannerisms and jargon of certain crowds in order to blend in, and won't hesitate to assume (or allow others to assume on her behalf) a different persona in order to allay suspicion. At times, this can work against her, though, as those who come to know this aspect of her character might mistakenly presume that she is not one to be trusted. Robin is physically strong in many ways, but by no means a powerhouse. Stripped of her Ability, she will be particularly prone to physical weaknesses she often countered through the use of many limbs. She cannot swim. But, while her weakness tends toward the muscular, her greatest fears tend to the emotional. She can, and has for many years, looked after herself, but she hates being alone. She desires love and acceptance from others, if only just a few, and would rather see the world destroyed than face the possibility of someone who cared for her turning away. She's been known to experience symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, though her triggers are few and specific, and not likely to be experienced in a world other than her own.

First Person Sample:

We've finally made it to town, just in the nick of time. My pokemon were almost completely spent, and my stash of berries and potions was alarmingly sparse. I don't think I've ever been so glad to see the rust-orange roof of a PokeCenter in all of my stay here in Johto.

An interesting bit of information crossed my path recently. Apparently Pokemon are classified as "inedible". It is said that their meat is too tough, or stringy,- or both?- for human consumption. Even wild Pokemon rarely feast on the flesh of another, except in rare instances. With this in mind, I can't help but look dubiously upon the rows of slaughtered meat here in this PokeMart. If Pokemon are unfit, and there are no signs of other livestock... where has it come from?

Does this perhaps explain the disproportionate number of cemeteries in the area? It struck me as odd that there would be so few. And could this be evidence of a cultural innovation to help control the level of Ghost-type Pokemon in the world? If so, why would there not be ceremonies revolving around the consummation of a loved one's remains? This society shows none of the expected behaviors of a cannibalistic culture.

It's a shame the foremost scholars of this world all gravitate around the mysteries of Pokemon, when there are so many about the very people they live amongst, and whose heritage they've been born with.

Third Person Sample:

Robin followed the directions she'd been given, then studied the building with a critical eye. It didn't seem at all different from any of the other nondescript buildings in this world- it didn't even feature a different colored roof, which seemed to be the main method of differentiation. Still, she supposed outward appearances didn't always amount to much, considering that the greatest trove of knowledge in her world had been a giant tree. A small smile touched the corners of her lips. How odd, she thought, that the professors in this world would each be named after a tree; and the professor in my world, who worked in a tree, would be named after grass.

She tapped politely on Professor Elm's door, and waited. No sound of movement reached her ears, and she knocked a bit harder. After a moment, she took a step back and gave the building a closer look. The shades were drawn in the windows, and covered in dust. There were a few flowers planted along the wall, and she had assumed they were withered because of the cold. She saw now that they had died back years before. A shot of adrenaline wound through her veins. It seemed she'd stumbled into an ambush, though she hadn't triggered the trap quite yet.

Robin circled the building, keeping close to the wall (stucco crumbling in places from neglect, badly in need of an updated paint job- how could she not have seen it sooner?) and ducking under the eaves of the windows to avoid detection. She quietly pulled a Pokeball from her pocket, pressed the pre-release button to increase its size. If Team Rocket intended to waylay her, she wanted to make sure they'd have a hard time of it.

Just as she was about to poke her head around the corner, the door she'd knocked on opened with a creak. Robin turned, dropping into a defensive position, her eyes narrowed and focused on the person in the doorway. He rubbed his head as he looked down the street toward town. Robin noticed he looked as disheveled as the building. At last, he turned toward her, and almost leapt off his doorstep in surprise.

"Ack! I didn't see you there!" he exclaimed. Robin straightened, shrunk her 'ball and stashed it in its pocket.

"Professor Elm, I presume?" still wary, she extended her hand in greeting.

The man adjusted his glasses, as if he needed a moment to think about it. "Ah, yes. That's me. I apologize for the state of the house. I can get a little... ah... focused."

Robin raised an eyebrow, then smiled. She'd heard Professor Elm was a bit of a scatterbrain, but she hadn't anticipated such a quirk to be taken to this extreme. As such, she declined to comment any further on the subject.

"I have some questions for you," she said. "We should talk inside."

Character
Name: Scout (RED)
Series: Team Fortress 2
Timeline: Team Fortress 2 is a game without a progressive plot, so we can say I'm taking him from any point in the game, really. (If it matters, though, TF2 takes place in the late 1960s)
Canon Resource Links: http://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Scout
http://tf2wiki.net/wiki/Meet_the_Scout

Those links really tell you all there is to know about Scout.

Personality: Scout is, in short, a very boisterous and energetic young man. Spewing out insults such as 'chucklefuck,' 'chucklenuts,' 'blockhead,' and 'knucklehead', he clearly doesn't care about being even the slightest bit friendly to anyone, even his teammates. On occasion, he will slip out a 'thanks,' but it's pretty rare, and when it happens, it's inevitable that it won't be long until another insult comes flying out of his mouth. His accent is sometimes hard to decipher, since it's a heavy Boston one, but once someone is around him long enough they tend to pick up on the way he says things. (For the most part, words ending with an 'r,' like 'liar,' adopt more of an 'ah' sound at the end, like 'liah'.)

He enjoys caffeinated beverages, his favorite being a concoction known as Bonk! Atomic Punch. These drinks amplify his energy, though even without them he's known to literally bounce off of walls. Usually his energy is used to dart away from the enemy as soon as he whacks them with either his trusty bat or the baseball hit by his bat. Either way, he's a fast-talking, even faster-moving force to be reckoned with.

Scout, being the youngest class in Team Fortress 2, still obviously cares about his mother, which is evidenced by some of the things he says when the player earns an achievement while playing as him. He quite happily says, "hi, Ma!" and "look at me, Ma!" then, meaning that he's hoping his mother is paying attention to what he's doing and is hopefully proud of him, though he'd most likely never go out and actually announce that specifically.

Finally, Scout has a fondness for baseball, which can be tied to the fact that he's still pretty young. He wears the same type of trousers a professional baseball player wears, as well as a batter's helmet, and his main weapon is a baseball bat, which he swings with ease, most likely due to watching and studying his favorite teams play on television.

Strengths/Weaknesses:

STRENGTHS: Scout is fast. Really, really fast. He can outrun just about anybody who crosses his path, and he does it often. His caffeinated drinks definitely help with his speed, but for the most part they aren't necessary, as he's pretty fast without them. Being fast allows him to be able to snatch any important information that happens to be written down by the enemy and in his canon, he's known to do this at times.

Scout is also somewhat friendly to women around his age, as seen in one of the official Team Fortress 2 comics. Unfortunately, women aren't common in his canon, so there isn't a whole lot of evidence of this. Being a young man though, can be enough evidence, in a way, however.

Scout also knows how to work with his team. As much as he likes to throw insults around, he does work with others, and will do so to ensure a victory.

WEAKNESSES: Unfortunately, Scout has a tendency to fling out insults without really thinking beforehand. The wrong words can and will anger the enemy, and it's actually pretty common for him to be chased down after saying something not so pleasant.

Scout is very boastful, and this can prove to be annoying to others, and it clouds the Bostonian's mind where he can't see any faults that he has. In the Meet the Scout video, he's seen saying that he's 'a big deal,' and that his muscles are 'beautiful'. In all honesty, one can barely see any muscles at all, proving that Scout has a fairly large ego, at least in that sense.

Being the youngest of eight, he never had the opportunity to learn how to fight when he was younger, so he simply took to running away. Though he can fight now, sometimes he chooses to go back to instinct and run, which isn't a good idea all of the time, especially in the Pokemon world. Running away from battles would eventually hinder his team from getting the experience they need from leveling up and becoming stronger.

First Person Sample: [The video feed clicks on and the only thing that can be seen for a few seconds is a blur of green and brown, presumably the grass and dirt in front of Scout. Once the camera is steadied, Scout whips it around so that everyone can see his face, which is currently displaying a very proud expression.]

CHAMP JUST KICKED SOME LAME CATAHPIE'S ASS.

I mean you shoulda seen it, it was so freakin' stupid. It just sat dere and shot out some string at Champ, but Champ dealt it a KICK TO DA FACE.

[Scout whips the camera back toward Champ the Tyrogue. The Pokemon looks as proud as its owner does, and it starts to punch the air.]

One'a dese days I'm gonna make it to da top with dis Pokahmon. You bettah believe it, suckahs.

Time to celebrate and get somethin' ta drink.

[With that, the feed cuts out.]

Third Person Sample: Scout's bandaged hand gripped the brim of the red batter's helmet atop his head and pulled it off, with the other hand quickly following behind and running across his clammy brow to remove any excess sweat.

It was a tough battle, the toughest that Scout and his partner Champ had experienced yet. Truthfully, Scout was really disappointed that they had lost, and he was actually fairly worried about the Tyrogue that he was hoping to reach the top of the Pokemon League with. The Pokemon was not only poisoned but covered in all sorts of scrapes and bruises, and as soon as the battle was over, the hyperactive baseball fan quickly dashed over to the nearest Pokemon center to hand over the Tyrogue to the first Nurse Joy he saw.

Scout sat down in an uncomfortable plastic chair and returned his hat to his head, then sighed and fished through a pile of magazines strewn across the top of the table in front of him. Picking up the only one that seemed to hold a fraction of his interest, he thumbed through a few pages and stopped at an article about fighting Pokemon and their strengths/weaknesses. His eyes glazed over the page, trying to absorb the words that were lined up neatly in columns, occasionally partnered up with sketches of Mankeys and Hitmonlees. Realizing that he pretty much knew all of the information written there, he tossed the magazine back onto the table and glanced up at the large clock on the wall. It was already three-thirty -- the battle had happened at one.

"Man. Dis is takin' forevah."

He stretched his arms toward the ceiling and stood to his feet, walking over to the television that was sitting on a shelf in the uppermost corner of the room. A children's program seemed to be playing, and he tried to pay attention to it, in hopes to get his mind off of his ailing Pokemon, but he simply couldn't. Why was it taking so long for his Tyrogue to get better?

Katekyo Hitman Reborn! (Wikipedia)
Xanxus (Reborn wiki)

Personality:
One will find that Xanxus does not have many redeeming qualities, if he even has any at all. To start off, he is a cruel, cruel bastard. Xanxus doesn't care about anyone but himself; he has even said that the safety of his own subordinates doesn't matter to him. If they die, that just means that they've outlived their usefulness. He is completely incapable of feeling compassion, sympathy, or empathy for anyone; he usually finds the misery of others to be quite amusing. In addition to being heartless, Xanxus also has a major superiority complex, truly believing that he is better than everyone and everything. There isn't a single person he considers to be on the same level as him. He addresses others in a spiteful, sometimes condescending manner and typically refers to everyone as "trash" or "scum." Xanxus does not have the broadest vocabulary out there, and he takes great pride in his strength, so it is very easy to assume that he's nothing more than a savage brute. However, Xanxus is actually quite intelligent; he's not a genius, but his intelligence is definitely above average. After all, it doesn't just take power, but also brains to be the leader of an elite assassination squad.

One of the most important things about Xanxus is that he is a very angry person. In fact, he is the very embodiment of wrath. Xanxus never forgives, and he never, ever forgets. His fury is so great that the very reason Squalo refused the position as Varia boss and gave it to Xanxus instead is because he admires Xanxus's wrath. However, he typically gets angry for very petty reasons, such as his meal not being cooked the way he wants it. The main way he expresses his anger is through violence, never hesitating to attack the source of his anger and break various objects in the process. When Xanxus gets truly angry though, for a not-so-petty reason, that's when all hell breaks loose. This is the anger that has won him the respect and fear of many, including Squalo.

When he's not so angry, however, Xanxus is very quiet. He rarely says a word to anyone unless it's absolutely necessary, or if he feels the need to harrass them. He is extremely anti-social and will usually give short responses; sometimes none at all. Xanxus also never gives personal details about himself beyond his name, and maybe his age if he has to. Therefore, he is a rather enigmatic man; the only person who knew about his whole past is Squalo, and the other characters didn't find out about it until Squalo was forced to tell them everything when the Vongola Rings rejected Xanxus due to him not really having Vongola blood in his veins.

Because Xanxus was spoiled throughout the last bit of his childhood and his teen years, he has become incredibly picky. He expects nothing but the nicest things, and if he doesn't get just those, he will throw a fit. Xanxus has also become very lazy due to being used to his subordinates doing everything for him, whether it be getting him food or cleaning up after him. He has taken quite a liking to sitting in his comfortable, velvet throne and is typically seen drinking some sort of alcoholic beverage, usually tequila or whiskey.

While Xanxus's relationship with the Vongola Family as a whole is a little shaky at best, he is still incredibly loyal to his family, and wants it to be the very best that it can be. Even though he still disapproves of Tsuna being the Tenth, he has given up actively trying to get him out of the picture and has resolved to just verbal disapproval rather than plotting to kill him. He treats Tsuna's guardians the same way. However, when an enemy family tries to mess with any of them, Xanxus won't object to sending help when it's absolutely necessary, a perfect example being when the Varia shows up to assist the Vongola during the final battle against the Millefiore. Because of his loyalty to the Vongola, Xanxus refuses to let his personal feelings get in the way of achieving victory against their enemies. He'll even listen to orders from the Ninth when he has to, and it's no secret that Xanxus despises the man for lying to him throughout his whole childhood about being his son. He still hasn't, and never will, forgive him for all that. After all, he would actually have to be related to the Ninth in order to be eligible to succeed him. Finding out that he was just the Ninth's adopted son crushed his hopes and dreams, and he places partial blame on his mother, as well. Xanxus used to love and trust both of them as much as he could, but ever since he found out the truth, he can never again see them in the same light as he did before.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
+ Not only is he strong physically, Xanxus also has great stamina. Neither are as great as they used to be, but still good enough for him to fare better than the average trainer.
+ He knows how to take charge.
+ Xanxus is best known for his ability to intimidate people; he can usually do it pretty damn well.
+ He is a very skilled marksman.
+ Although this could also be seen as a weakness in certain aspects, Xanxus doesn't give a shit what other people think about him and is not afraid to do whatever the fuck he wants, despite popular opinion.

× Xanxus has quite the nasty temper, and it's really not that hard to set him off.
× He has a tendency to be rather blunt and cruel, so he isn't very well-liked by others. Not that he cares.
× Once you make his shit list, there's no getting off of it. Xanxus cannot let go of grudges. Ever.
× Xanxus is lazy as fuck. He hardly ever does anything himself, but until one of his subordinates shows up, he's going to have to learn how to.
× Picky is Xanxus's middle name. He absolutely has to have the nicest things and his meat has to be cooked to perfection or he will flip shit.

[Xanxus sure wasn't expecting to wake up back in Johto; and in a Team Rocket uniform, no less. He may have been willing to tolerate this if he had his old Pokémon on him, but nope, they're all gone now. All he has is a shitty level 15 Bagon and an even shittier level 5 Koffing. Further inspection of his stuff reveals that all of his badges and old items are gone, as well. Unamused does not even begin to cover it.

Since he can't turn on the video while he's dressed like this, he'll just send a text to the network instead.]

Which of you shitheads has my fucking level 100 Pokémon? I want them back. Now.

[The others don't matter as much to him, so whatever, the dumbasses who are stuck with those fuckers can keep them.]

And Killua, Belphegor, Lussuria: I want to know where you are, if any of you are even still fucking here.

[Once that's sent, Xanxus immediately gets up from his bed and, instead of just opening the door like a normal person, kicks the goddamn thing off its hinges, causing it to fall over, and storms out of the room to take his anger out on anyone who's unfortunate enough to run into him. Oh look, he's probably already one step closer to being fired!]

Third Person Sample:
(Just gonna use my old third person sample for this one, sorry. I hope this is okay. ;;)

It took a whole goddamn month for Xanxus to get his Magikarp to level 19. One month. Hell, maybe even more than that. Ever since he found out what Magikarp could evolve into, Xanxus dedicated all his time and effort to training the useless piece of shit, and it was no easy task. It didn't help at all that Magikarp was beaten way too easily. He even neglected the other couple of Pokémon he managed to capture along the way to make sure that his Magikarp evolved as quickly as possible because Xanxus was sick of dealing with that stupid, pathetic excuse for a fish. He'd take the giant blue sea monster any day.

Adamant on making the damn thing evolve today, Xanxus spent the majority of the day in Route 35, hunting down various Pokémon for his shitty Magikarp to beat. Despite being four levels above the majority of the Pokémon they encountered, the poor fish still suffered many beatings. Not just from the wild Pokémon, but sometimes Xanxus, as well. However, the beatings from its master no longer surprised the Magikarp much anymore; it was well aware of how pathetic it was, thanks to Xanxus giving it so many self-esteem boosters. After being taken to the Pokémon Center for the umpteenth time, Magikarp decided that it was going to try really hard this time to make it down that final stretch. It wasn't too far away from reaching level 20, and it wanted to make Xanxus proud for once.

The last part of the training went a bit smoother; Magikarp won more battles and wasn't kicked or insulted as much by Xanxus. Then, the moment that the both of them had been looking forward to for so long finally came; Magikarp reached level 20. As soon as that happened, the orange fish was engulfed in a blinding white light, which gradually took on the form of Gyarados, the Atrocious Pokémon. Once the light faded, the giant blue Pokémon let out a proud roar and, in a moment of excitement, slammed its huge tail against the water, which created a large splash that flew in the direction of the shore.

When Gyarados looked over at Xanxus to see his reaction to the evolution, who was standing by the edge of the lake, he was completely drenched in lake water, and looking very pissed off. Then, he said the two words that Gyarados was hoping to never hear again.

"...Fucking trash."

Character
Name: Retia
Series: Eternal Poison
Timeline: Two thirds of the way through the game, when the party has taken the Light Path through Besek (the path the player takes effects how the story goes for the characters). In taking the Dark Path, Retica gets to finally kill his father and avenge the death of his mother. In taking the Light Path, Retica learns that the deity his religion worships is actually a demon (or Majin, in the demon's native tongue).
Canon Resource Links: Yeah, Eternal Poison counts as ridiculously obscure. I already have a history written up for Reti here, so I’ll just copy and paste.

Retica is searching for his father so he can kill him, and avenge his mother's murder. He was raised predominantly by his mother, in a human village. However, it is implied that his mother and father honestly loved each other; Retica is not too keen on believing this. One day, Retica's father (a Majin/Demon called Doom Shade) appeared and slaughtered Retica's mother. Enraged, and left with no protection from the prejudice of the village people, Retica set off to avenge his mother.

In order to do this he begins looking for the Eternal Poison; an artifact that, according to his faith (The Stag Religion), grants great power to those who attain it. To find both the Eternal Poison and his father, Retica entered into a demon realm called Besek (known to the demons as The Tetractis; The Path to the Goddess), which is a world that is linked to all other worlds.

While there he met up with a witch, who used a spell to bind him to her will. Without any choice in the matter Retica followed her deeper and deeper into Besek (which is conveniently where he wants to go, anyway). While there, it is ultimately up to the player what kind of encounters Retica (and the rest of the party) can have.

The Light Path

This is the path I would like to assume Retica took if I'm going to play him here; The party picked the fork in the road that lead down The Light Path, leading them to battle holy monsters. Here Retica and team battled Luxaphel, a powerful holly Majin/Demon. The Fight was especially hard on Retica, because Luxaphel is the deity his religion worships. He was shattered by the realization that his faith was based on worshiping a demon; and because he took this path, he was never granted the opportunity to confront and kill his father before he died (upon reaching the end of The Tetractis). Obviously he's not actually going to DIE this time, I'm going to take him from shortly after the fight with Luxaphel.

The Dark Path

At the end of this path lurks Doom Shade, Retica's father. In this battle, Doom Shade's defeat solidifies Retica's loyalty to Thage (the witch that put a spell on him), despite the fact that she wants to end the world with the power of the Eternal Poison. After defeating his father, Retica is less satisfied than he had hoped; the creature he defeated was just a cruel Majin; he didn't even remember Retica and his Mother. It's implied that it is because Doom Shade was born again in Besek after he had been killed for his crimes of having a child with a human, and it was this reborn Doom Shade that killed Retica's mother. However, one can only speculate.

However, since none of this would have actually happened, since I'm going to assume he had taken the light path.

Personality: BRATBRATBRATBRAT Retica is abrasive.

Due to his mixed blood, the humans he grew up with (save for his mother) treated him like a leper. So understandably, he's very mistrusting of new people, and he's quick to be rude and blunt. He acts very much like you would expect someone who was mistreated all their life to act.

That isn't to say Retica is a bad person; he tends to be able to find the bright sides in the worst situations, and see the good qualities in even the worst people. In one part of the game, he talks about how human beings are naturally very selfish, but that sometimes that selfishness leads to good, such as a person doing a good deed because they want to feel good about having done it. He says that he wishes more people would be selfish in that way.

Retica is also extremely loyal once you win him over (for example, he supported a witch who was bent on ending the world because they grew close) but on the flip side, if he doesn't like you, don't expect to get him to open up very easily.

Finally, Retica has a great respect for royalty, aristocracy, and authority alike. This is a respect born of fear of the consequences; he knows well enough to tread carefully around someone who has the power to throw him into prison, for example. Tell him you’re royalty and suddenly this very brash loudmouthed little brat starts minding his p’s and q’s (he starts saying please and thank you, minding his manners, and so on).

Strengths and Weaknesses:

Strengths:

Resilient: Retica knows what he wants and goes for it, even if that means striking out all on his own. He’ll bravely face danger all alone without a hint of hesitation, and he’s survived despite all the challenges in his life.

Loyal: Though winning Retica’s loyalty is difficult, once it’s done he’s loyal no matter what, even blindly so. For example, Retica becomes loyal to a witch who wants to end the world, just because she stuck with him when no one else would. He doesn’t try to stop her, and all he wants is to stay alive long enough to see what she will do.
Independent: Retica is used to being the only one on his own side, so he’s used to going it alone. Despite his young age, Retica doesn’t often crave for the attention of others.
Archery: Retica is trained in the uses of bot long and short bows.

Weaknessess:

Can’t think abstractly: Retica’s most used phrase “what does that mean?” the boy can’t follow a metaphor to save his life. It’s tempting to call him stupid, but he’s usually fine as long as you’re very straight with him. He’s also not very good at grey area; he thinks of things in very black and white terms; if something is not one way, it’s the other.
Rude/Blunt: Retica takes a very rude tone with most people, probably because he’s used to being treated like an outcast. It can make it difficult to get to like him, but deep down he is a really good person; it’s just difficult to see it, sometimes.
Doesn’t trust easily/let people get close: Retica is automatically suspicious of everything and everyone. He’s used to people hating him, even wanting to kill him, for no reason other than the fact that he’s half demon. Because of this, he’s very guarded and doesn’t let people get close easily.
Driven by revenge/negative emotion: Retica lets his negative emotions dictate what he does; if he’s mad, he acts on it. All he wants is to kill his father, despite the fact that it is dangerous for him to even set foot in his father’s realm, never mind killing a full blooded demon on his own. Retica is notorious for acting without thinking, just because his emotions dictate he should.

[The feed clicks on to a super imposed red eye. It’s narrowed in obvious and burning frustration, and there’s a quiet muttering o growls and curses in the backdrop. Finally, Retica holds the pokegear back, and the screen shows a more comprehensive look at the teen]

Someone better start giving me some answers, damn it! Is this some kind of trick? Where the hell am I? And what is that music?!

[He looks around, scowling at his surroundings like they personally offended him]

Besek’s never looked like this, not even the first stratum. I don’t care how I got here—I need to get back. I—I was so close. I know I was. I had to be. We were almost—

Nevermind. I’m getting out of here, even if no one else can help me.

Third Person Sample:

Retica slammed the pokegear shut with a furious snarl. This was bloody ridiculous; he’d made it to the belly of Besek only to suddenly find himself in an entirely different world. The fact didn’t bother him so much as the ‘how’; Besek had gates to so many words, but Retica certainly didn’t remember walking through one. If there was a silver lining to be found in all of this, it was that being away from Besek’s heavily magic charged air had hi, feeling… fine. Better than he’d felt in a long time, almost like he was… healthy.

Retica tugged his scarf more tightly around his neck, and stormed off away from the houses of the small town. He needed to be alone; he needed to fume and think and find some way home. Not far down the grassy path, Retica spotted a strange creature, drinking from a shimmery puddle. It walked on all fours and had a white body, and a long black horn. Immediately Retica thought it might be a majin, and pressed himself into the shade of a close by tree. His bow and arrows were gone, and all he had with him was the bag that strange woman pushed into his arms.

He opened it and pawed through with a frustrated growl, but he didn’t find any weapons. He was just reading the instructions on a bottled potion (deverted from his worry and furry by a spike of curiosity) when the approaching footsteps of strangers hailed his attention.

“Hey, isn’t that an Absol?”

“Yeah! They’re so unlucky; don’t you know they cause terrible disasters?”

“Really? Get rid of it!”

Peeking out from behind the tree, Retica spotted the pair of humans. The creature (apparently called Absol) had taken notice of the others, and was watching them warily. For a moment, Retica was trapped in remembering.

‘Is that a Heretic?’

‘It is! Those things are terrible; they’re going to destroy the world!’

‘Get it out of our village!’

They had come at him (a defenceless kid barely older than ten) with pitchforks and torches. He’d had to run for hours until he found his mother, and clung bloody breathless and beaten to her coattails.

The humans were whipping rocks at the Absol.

“Hey!” without thinking, Retica leapt out from behind the tree. He was mad; he hated what happened to him, hated the people who were stupid and blind enough to think a child could have a world ending agenda. Right now, these people were as bad as them. “Back off!” he barked, grabbing up a rock from the ground and whipping it right at one of the human’s. After a few seconds of dumbfounded starring (and a few more of flinching as they were pelted with rocks) the strangers deserted. Retica scowled as he watched them trot off into the brush, feeling ruffled and angry. Why were people always so hateful? His gaze turned to the Absol, who was limping a little on one leg as it tried to make a retreat into the brush.

“Hey… wait,” Retica called, awkward and deflating. The creature turned to look at him, and it’s eyes were wise and dark. Retica approached carefully, still not trusting it entirely. Kneeling, Retica fished the potion from his bag, and sprayed the Absol’s wound. “… there.” And that moment their eyes met, and Retica felt oddly naked under those dark eyes.

“… You’re welcome.” When he stood, Absol stood with him. “… are you coming with me, now?” Absol seemed unphased by Retica’s stinging skepticism and narrowed eyes. It simply watched him, as if Retica himself already knew the answer. “Alright, fine… but I need to call you something if you’re going to come with me.” Almost timidly, he reached out his hand. “… maybe I’ll call you Heretic,” he muttered dryly. “You’re just like me.”

The Absol butted his head against Retica’s palm, purring softly. Retica almost, almost smiled. No one ever wanted to be like him.

“Okay, let’s keep going.”

Character
Name: Duck
Series: Princess Tutu
Timeline: Post-canon, in other words, after Mytho and Rue have ridden off into the sunset and Duck is just a duck again and Drosselmeyer's post-humous writing machine has been destroyed.
Canon Resource Links: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Princess_Tutu

Personality: First of all, although she looks completely normal, there are a few clues that might lead one to suspect that Duck is a duck. Aside from the name. Her clumsiness, her awkward way of moving, her voice, and not hte least, the way she quacks when she's surprised or frightened. Because she started out life as a duck, she's ignorant of many customs and aspects of daily life - she has to be explained things that others take for granted. For instance, even though it was apparently common knowledge in Kinkan town, she had to be explained what the Fire Festival was. Nevertheless, she blithely ploughs through life not worrying too much about things she doesn't understand.

Duck is very friendly, and tends to friendship-ambush people. What I mean by this is that she tends to sneak up on unsuspecting people and engage them in conversation, after which her 'target' ends up warming up to her. She befriended Rue by sticking by her no matter what Rue said and did to keep her at arm's length. It's important to note that even though Rue-as-Kraehe was responsible for a lot of the conflict in the series, Duck never took it personally and always believed that there was good in her. It's quite hard to get on her bad side; she has a good word to say about nearly everyone. If it's at all possible, it's by being pointlessly mean to her or her friends. Of all the characters in the series, the only ones she demonstrated any disdain for were Femio, Autor, and Fakir. Fakir grew on her once she came to understand his motivations, Autor she put up with because he was the only one who could help Fakir learn to use his powers (and she disliked him because he was rude and she thought his methods were cruel). And Femio... okay Femio is just plain weird. Girls drop what they're doing and skedaddle whenever he's in the area. Duck gets a free pass on that one.

Duck's greatest dream is to become a prima ballerina and dance a pas de deux with the love of her life. She's a dreamer, and she loves ballet a whole bunch. She wears her heart on her sleeve. As might be expected from an aspiring ballerina, she's a very physical character, reacts in very energetic ways - at one point when she imagined that Mytho told her he loved her, she got so excited she ran around in circles. Another time when Pique and Lilie were teasing her, she ran backwards straight into a cart full of garbage. She's generally enthusiastic and upbeat and impulsive about everything she does... well, anything not to do with her duty as Princess Tutu and Mytho.

Part of Duck's character arc was her growing realization that for Mytho, getting his heart might not be all she imagined. Many of the first heart shards she returned contained negative emotions, like pain and loneliness, and then she returned the heart shard of love which Kraehe had corrupted with raven's blood. Duck often wrestled with the possibility that returning Mytho's heart might not be what was best for him. In any case, she took her job seriously. Another complication was her feelings for Mytho, and his apparent feelings for Princess Tutu. Duck knew from the third episode onward that she was never meant to be with Mytho, and never questioned that Rue was his destined princess. When he seemed to express interest in Princess Tutu, Duck became confused about her feelings, but still denied the possibility that she might have a chance with Mytho. She thought he only saw "Princess Tutu in her pretty dress."

The fact that Duck makes a distinction between herself and her alter ego goes a long way to explaining her view of herself. While Princess Tutu is obviously a magical ballerina princess who has superhuman stamina and can keep tempo with Giselle (who is dead and doesn't tire), and dances flawlessly besides, she shares all her important traits with Duck. Princess Tutu's heart is no kinder or more generous than Duck's. And Duck has demonstrated a wisdom in matters of the heart beyond her years. But Princess Tutu is beautiful and graceful and an impeccable dancer, and Duck isn't, so if Mytho liked Tutu, it still had nothing to do with her, so her reasoning went.

Not only this, but as the series went on, and the focus switched from GOTTA CATCH EM ALL to how the heck do we stop Mytho's downward spiral into evil, Duck found herself on the sidelines and feeling superfluous. She couldn't fight, she had no special writer powers... what could she do to help protect Mytho? Even Princess Tutu could only return the shards of Mytho's heart, but what good would having a full heart do for Mytho if he was consumed by the Raven's curse?

All this to say that despite Duck's many virtues, she doesn't have a very high opinion of herself. She sees herself as clumsy, useless, talently, plain, of no worth or interest whatsoever. She often second-guesses herself. (Why did she ignorantly assume she knew what was best for Mytho? Was she really so presumptuous as to think there was a place at Mytho's side for one such as her? Did she just want to feel important?) After all, she's only a duck. Compared to Princess Tutu or Rue, she's nothing.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
In canon, Duck's darkest moment was when she tried to take off her pendant to give Mytho the last heart shard and she couldn't unfasten the chain. This was a critical moment and she didn't come through for him. Drosselmeyer attempts to convince her it's because she wants to keep on being a girl so she can stay with Mytho forever, but really it's only that she's afraid the story will end and she'll go back to being a duck, which is similar, but not quite the same. It's not so much that she would lose Mytho - at that point Rue has already solidified her claim on him and Duck herself seems more interested in Fakir - it's that, as a duck, she thinks she's not worth anyone's time. She'll be alone. Fakir then promises her he'll stay with her forever, even if she does turn back into a duck. And she does, and Fakir keeps his promise. But it remains that Duck is quite afraid of being abandoned.

+ Knows ballet (though not very skilled)
+ Energetic
+ Stubborn/Determined. To the point where she kept dancing even though she was getting kicked around by raven-minions and became the physical embodiment of hope for a short while.
+ Kind, can find something to like about nearly anyone.
+ Surprisingly astute when it comes to other people.
+ Gets along with animals, especially birds.
+ likeable, gets along with people.

- Easily distracted, scatterbrained.
- Erratic knowledge of human customs.
- Lack of self-esteem.
- clumsy, tendency to quack at inopportune moments (although at least she no longer has to worry about turning into a duck)
- tendency to second-guess herself.
- doesn't look before she leaps

[There's a lot of shaking around before the camera comes into focus, but when it does, it's an extreme close-up of Duck's freckled face. It's obvious she's never seen a pokegear before, or any kind of camera. Someone offscreen is telling her she doesn't have to be so close. She looks away from the camera - it pans backward. There's a Pidove on her shoulder. She asks the helpful someone.] Does it really work?

It's working right now. Say something.

[She looks into the camera and waves.] Okay, um. Hi!

...

...

[Aside:] What now?

You said you had something to ask?...

[Her face lights up as she's reminded of why she wrestled with this contraption in the first place.] Oh yeah! Uh, so, I don't really know what's going on right now. It does sound kind of fun, travelling and going on adventures with pokémon. Some of them are pretty cute! But I have a friend who's going to be really worried when he finds I'm gone, so I was wondering if anyone could tell me the way to Gold Crown Town? It's not on the map. It's a small town, but there's a big boarding school where they teach the arts, and music, and ballet. I think it's in Germany.

...

[Something serious has clearly occurred to her. She stops smiling.] Um, there's something else too. I think this might be a story. Has anyone seen a clockwork writing machine?

Third Person Sample: Duck woke up to an insistent knocking at the door. From the other side, a woman who did not sound like Raetsel called "Sweetie, you're going to be late!" She opened her eyes. This was not Fakir's room. This was not the box and blanket nest he had arranged for her. The woman came in and tugged the covers off the bewildered girl. "Up and at 'em! You don't want to keep Professor Oak waiting!"

Duck sat up, protesting. "Quack, quack quack!" she exclaimed. Who was this woman, where was Fakir, and what was going on?! The woman probably wouldn't be able to understand her, even Fakir could only sort of get the gist of what she said, usually. She wished she could speak normally, but she was just a duck, after all. Quacking was the only option available to her. It could not be said that Duck was quick on the uptake.

"Don't you take that tone with me, young lady! You're much too old to be playing psyduck! Speak like a human being!" said the woman. Duck raised her wings defensively. That's when she caught sight of them and realized she didn't have wings, she had hands. "Wait, whaaat? I'm human?" she looked down at herself. Yes, definitely human. How come? Was this another story? Had Fakir written her into a human being and the story had gone wrong somehow? Or maybe Drosselmeyer had found another way to mess with the living. How could she tell? She should probably find out. The lady was saying something to the effect of 'of course, dear, now stop being silly' but Duck wasn't really paying attention. "Who ARE you? Where is this?" she asked.

The answer ("You know very well I'm your mother, and this game is getting tiring!") was just confusing. As she was loaded down with a backpack and a lunch and a... whatever that funny looking plastic thing was, and rushed out the door, Duck tried to remember if she had ever had a real mother. She didn't like to think about her past, because it gave her a headache. She recalled a faint memory, of paddling to catch up to the end of a line of six ducklings. But she also recalled her first day of school, when a well-dressed couple she vaguely remembered were her parents dropped her off, and made her promise to write. It didn't help that she knew the one with the ducks must be the real one, because both memories had a dreamlike, unreal quality. Before she met Drosselmeyer the night she spoke to Mytho for the first time, she could have sworn she had always been human. Before she had seen Mytho dancing on the lake, she had always known she was a duck. Thinking about it made her miserable, and anyway this lady claiming to be her mother didn't even look like the well-dressed woman she remembered.

In any case, the reason some woman was claiming to be her mother was the least of the mysteries Duck had to deal with. This wouldn't be the first time Duck had been thrust into a situation with very little information and no idea what she was doing. She guessed there was nothing for it but to go along with things for now. But she had to find her way home!

Character
Name: Beast Boy
Series: Teen Titans (cartoon series)
Timeline: post episode 64
Canon Resource Links: wikia.

Personality: Beast Boy is carefree by nature, and is oftentimes shown cracking terribly bad jokes or pulling pranks that eventually backfire onto himself. Like that one time he tried hitting Cyborg with a balloon filled with motor oil? IT WAS A GIANT MESS. Even though his strategy was fail-safe and he had made all of these blue prints, he ended up hitting Starfire with the balloon instead. He is also oftentimes shown trying to break the ice of a serious moment with either a preposterous suggestion or an unnecessary joke. A good example of this would be right after the team defeats the Brotherhood of Evil. He throws the Brain at the freezing machine and says something along the lines of: "hold on-- it's-- brain freeze!" as he freezes the Brain. Immaturity and jokes aside, Beast Boy has proven that he can be quite serious when he needs to be.

He wasn't like this at the beginning though. Prior joining up with the Titans, Beast Boy was a junior member of the Doom Patrol. The other members were older then him, and he kind of considered them as a surrogate family seeing as they raised him all those years ago. But, due to Mentos (the leader of the Doom Patrol) strict discipline and his no nonsense attitude left Beast Boy very timid and unsure of his actions. He had no self confidence when it came down to fighting and he was always constantly looking for their approval afterwards. For example, after Beast Boy saved the team from certain death by a black hole that the Brain concocted, he turned to Mento for approval after turning into T-Rex. But instead of the praise the other teammates were giving him, Mento scolded him for disobeying a direct order and that he should have gone after the Brain and Mala (the Brain's ape companion). Being with the Titans gave him confidence and allowed him to be himself.

Beast Boy is pretty cool with the other Titans. Despite their differences, he and Robin have an alright relationship and can work together as teammates. He gets along really well with Starfire mainly because she's the only one who laughs at his jokes. He considers her as family, and looks to her for comfort. The same thing could be basically said about Cyborg too, except Cyborg does his best to keep Beast Boy in line, much to Beast Boy's dismay. Raven on the other hand... His relationship with Raven differs a little then it does with the rest of the Titans. At first he thought she was pretty creepy, and the two have the least amount of things in common. But after helping her fight off her dad numerous times (one being inside her mind and the other being after her birthday) and being there for her when the dragon wizard plays her for a fool and rips her heart into two. Later on in the show Beast Boy he gets really depressed when he thought that he was the one who had hurt her. Of course their friendship is still a work in progress as Beast Boy still finds ways to make Raven angry, but as the series progresses their friendship gets better over time. His relationship with Terra is a touchy subject. He romantically liked her at one point, and they had a lot in common. He kept her secret on not being able to control her powers at one point early on in the series. He made it a point to visit her memorial whenever he could. He believed in her and still believes in her despite her "amnesia" at the end of the show.

Due to the fact that he can change into any animal at will, Beast Boy is a strict vegan. And as such, he is constantly seen trying to persuade his friends to adopt this lifestyle as well. This usually doesn't go along so well. Because of this, Beast Boy can kind of be a picky eater when it comes to eating out. For example, the team went out to the pizzeria one night earlier on in the series and he was shown arguing his side of not wanting to eat a pepperoni pizza. The only case in which Beast Boy actually ate meat was during his transformation into the beast. Which was remarkably noted by Robin when he ate his steak and eggs.

Beast Boy also has a fixation in wanting a moped. All the cool guys have one, and he thinks that if he gets one he'll be more popular with the ladies. He tries to convince Robin into getting one for him, but Robin tells him that they won't buy him one. In turn, he goes out and searches for a job he can use to save the money he makes to buy a moped. He ends up working at a hamburger joint, but only as a last resort.

Beast Boy is also a constant gamer, and often times is seen throughout the series playing racing games and fighting games against his friend Cyborg. He loves video games, and even went as far as downloading a pirated version of Monkey Madness IV and playing it on his friend's computer system. Of course, at the time he didn't know it was Cyborg's personal system that he used on himself. But he quickly fixed the problem and killed the viruses he accidentally gave his friend from the game. Beast Boy is also a giant movie fan, he particularly loves horror movies. He has an extensive knowledge on each and every horror movie.

At heart, Beast Boy is a dedicated friend and would be the first person to jump in and help and the last person to leave. Being with the Titans gave him confidence and allowed him to be himself.

Samples
First Person Sample: [beast boy could tell that something was wrong the instant he woke up. it didn't take much, but he knew that something... just really felt out of place. of course he didn't know that the problem was that he was no longer green and could no longer change into any animal at whim. nope, it didn't hit him until he stumbled out of bed and ran into his so called "mother". he then got the down-low of this Johto place and the whole nine yards.]

Sooo-- uhh... does this place like... fix people, or somethin'? And what's with this person claiming to be my mom? And what happened to my communicator? It was working before, and now it's like... totally dead! And it's worse off then that one time I tried playing Mega Monkeys 4 on Cy's system! [because that totally made sense, yep. at the mention of cyborg he paused quickly.] Uhh maybe they're here and I'm just not lookin' good enough... Uh hey, Rob? Cy? Star? Rae? If you're out there lemme know!

[he scratched his nose some and looked down at the gear once more. yeeeep, he totally said what he needed to say. and with that--] Uhh-- BB out!

Third Person Sample: Beast Boy lightly kicked his shoe against the gravel as he was ushered out of the strange woman's house. Well, this was weird. He looked down at the bag she had handed him and then over at the house next door. Somewhere in her long winded speech about this place, she told him that that place would be his next stop. Maybe they could give him better insight then the somewhat generic response of: "oh don't be silly, you're in Johto sweetheart!"

He frowned a little at that as he lightly palmed the back of his neck. That didn't really explain what or where this Johto place was, and.... he had a mother. Even though she wasn't alive anymore, that woman could never replace her. Sighing softly he pushed on through.

Annnnd went through the same exact thing he went through with mom 2.0. The strangely dressed professor babbled on and on and on about whatever these pokémon things were and practically gave him more questions that needed to be answered. Beast Boy felt his eyes roll at the dull tone the professor was talking in, it was kind of overwhelming? But before Beast Boy could fall asleep from boredom, the old dude was pushing a weird looking ball into his hands and the assistant was (for the second time today) shoving him out on his journey.

He snapped to attention as the door shut behind him and he quickly turned around and banged on the door. "Hey! What do I do with this?!" he paused he glanced down at the ball. It was too... small to be used to play fetch? And it's not like he could use it anyways, he couldn't even turn into a dog anyways!

Beast Boy frowned at the door as he made his way over to the bench and sat down. 'Well, this blows. I don't know where the team is, my communicator doesn't work, I can't change into anything and I look like myself before I got bit, annnd I have this...strange ball thing to work with!' He thought glumly.

He slumped over and sighed as the ball slipped from his hold. It landed witha a soft thud and made a strange noise as it exploded?!? Beast Boy yelped as he quickly jumped off of the bench in alarm.

"Oh great! This ball is trying to ki--" he paused as he glanced at the weird looking pink jelly glob. His brows knitted together in confusion as he inched closer. Said pink jelly glob looked up and wiggled it's jelly like arms and cooed in excitement as it copied it's master's face. A few minutes pass by before--

"Woah.... dude!!!" He said excitedly as he crouched down to the ground, a grin plastered all over his face. "You're just like me!!" He paused as he rubbed his chin. "I think I'm gonna call you Junior..."

Character
Name: Chika Ito
Series: Strawberry Marshmallow
Timeline: post anime.
Canon Resource Links: secretly she's the cutest one.

Personality:

Her sister, in the first episode, describes Chika in a way she feels is perfect: Generic. In many ways, Chika is just that; an average 12 year old girl. She makes good but not outstanding marks in school, is of average height and weight, and doesn't get into trouble often. She's a good kid, very relaxed and laid back, as well as mature. Her friend, Miu, often chides her for 'acting like an adult'. In the end, though, it'd be easy to find other girls like Chika anywhere.

There is one thing that sets her apart, however, and that is her ability to be patient with her childhood friend Miu. Miu is.. a problem child, to say the least, always hyper and really odd. Chika is somehow able to put up with it in a tenacious and almost ignoring way. Typically, Miu's rude and weird comments don't affect Chika. After about ten years of putting up with her, she's learned that most of the time it's not anything too important or insightful. Still, there are times when Chika can let Miu get to her, such as the time Miu told her she was getting chubby. Like any normal girl would, Chika began to become paranoid about her weight for a while, until her sister made her realize it was just her getting taller. Other times, Miu can make her exceedingly angry, to the point where she reacts violently. Sometimes violence is the only answer when it comes to Miu.

Chika is very responsible, way more so than her older, 20 year old sister, Nobue. Often times, Nobue will even take Chika's money to feed her smoking habit, a trait that Chika openly chides her for. Chika's room is well kept and she always makes sure to pack light, but be prepared for anything. She is definitely the most well rounded out of her group of friends, and tends to be the 'voice of reason' among them, considering all of them have their moments of outlandishness. Miu often refers to her as the 'straight man'.

She is also very caring about her friends, even if sometimes she doesn't show it. She is concerned about her sister when she is unable to get a job, openly feels bad for Ana when Miu makes fun of her for her name. She tries her best to accommodate her friends and be the best one she can be, but obviously, being 12, it is sometimes impossible.

Chika, too, can have her moments of childishness; she often gets into playful spats with Miu, especially when she gets mad at the other. She wouldn't admit it, but she does think Miu is funny, and enjoys the antics they get into sometimes. She is also shown to be very creative, making an ash tray for her sister, and is an avid lover of music of all types.
Strengths/Weaknesses:
+ Intelligent and Intuitive
+ Patient enough to deal with Miu
+ Down to earth and well-grounded
+ Mature for her age

- Can be a pushover with Miu and her sister
- When her patience is lost, she deals with it violently
- Average with no defining characteristics

First Person Sample:
Um, hello? Does this.. phone thing work? The red light is, so I guess it does - I'm not really sure who I'm talking to, though.

[ Chika taps the screen, blinks, and holds it out to show her face. ]

If anyone can hear me, can you send me a message back? It's probably too much to ask where the nearest bus stop to Japan is.. But could you at least tell me if there's any way home? At all? This is all a little confusing.. [ Chika's Igglybuff bounces into her hands. ] U-Uwah! Er, can you tell me what this thing is supposed to be, too? It keeps following me around, and some weird scientist gave it to me.. I think it thinks I'm it's mom, or something. It's cute, but.. I already have a dog.

Third Person Sample:
Chika was never a fan of walking. So when she discovered the nearest town was a few days away, she mentally asked herself if the town she was in wasn't good enough to settle into. Of course, she knew that it wasn't. She had to keep moving. She's not sure if the town people would tolerate her living there, considering how small of a community it was.

Still, she could not muster up the energy to continue. Every time she got near the entrance of Route 29, she'd stand near it for a while, staring it down as if it was a great adversary. Her Igglybuff was especially concerned about her master's mental state. After a while, Chika would just laugh, wave her hand, and go back.

Finally, the next day, she decided to go. Walking along the path, she kicked a few rocks at her feet and didn't bother to look up. Her Igglybuff ran energetically ahead, the tuft of hair on the top of it's head bouncing along with her. Chika moaned, wondering how the little thing could have so much energy..

After what seemed like ages, Chika wiped her forehead, sat down, and took a bottle of water out of her bag. Her Igglybuff was already farther ahead of her, so after a while, she turned to look and see where her master had gone. Once she was spotted, she hopped on over and sat in her lap. Chika finally looked up, proud of herself for making so much progress, when she looked to where she'd came from..

"O-Only that far?!" Yes, the town of New Bark was only about fifty yards away. Chika sighed. She had a long way to go.
