APPLICATIONS!
Currently: Closed!
Route 29 has closed as of May 30th. For the continuation of the game, please visit [community profile] victory_road!

Applications will be normally checked during the weekend following the first and third Sunday of each month unless otherwise stated, and we will allow one application per person during one application cycle. Remember, the most characters one player can have at a time is currently set at five.

Applications received after 11:59 PM EST on Saturday of the first and third weekend of each month will be checked the following app weekend unless otherwise stated.

We now ask that potential applicants post their application in comments rather than linking. If their application contains explicit references to 'hard' spoilers (character death, unforeseen plot twists, big reveals, he was evil all along etc), players should put the application in their own journal or their character's journal and link it, making sure to mention the presence of spoilers within. For further clarification on our spoilers policy and whether or not your application needs to be linked, please check this page. Thank you for your cooperation!

The comment character limit on dreamwidth is 16,000 characters so apps no longer need to be split into multiple comments; however this is at players' discretion.

Please use the form below and post your application in comments rather than linking if you can. If you have any questions, feel free to ask either of the mods. You can reach us through emails, IMs, or PMs.

A reminder for those waiting to hear back, please don't be worried if we skip yours while going through them. It only means we needed a little more time to research!

Character
Name: Trance Gemini
Series: Gene Roddenberry’s Andromeda
Timeline: Immediately before “It’s Hour Come ‘Round at Last” which is the last episode of Season 1
Canon Resource Links: Info about the series Andromeda and Trance herself

Note: I’ll be picking up the purple version from the first two seasons, as the gold version is basically an entirely new and separate character.

Personality: Trance is once described by her best friend as being "An enigma wrapped up in a riddle with a tail in the middle." Granted, said best friend was delirious from pain and having his brain quite literally overloaded at the time, but it’s still one of the best ways to describe her. Pretty much everything about her is a mystery in one way or another, including her past before meeting the rest of the crew, her true motivations, and even what (and who) exactly she is. Luckily, she drops enough hints here and there for us to get at least the beginnings of an idea. As strange as it sounds, while Trance hides quite a bit of herself, she’s still a very open person. Even though the ‘why’ may never be the most apparent, the ‘what’ is always very clear. Trance is basically everything a little girl would expect in her favorite Disney princess, minus the love story. She’s kind, generous, loving, caring, and kind of ditzy. Usually. Back her into a corner, though, and you’ll see that it isn’t all she can be.

She often seems to approach life much like a child would. She’s either very unfamiliar with, or at least wants to appear unfamiliar with, life among humans, or indeed most residents of the galaxy. She rarely understands seemingly simple phrases and idioms, tending to take them literally instead. When we first meet her, she talks happily about her predecessor who retired and bought a farm, only to be corrected that, no, he had bought THE farm, when his space suit tore. She greets the world with a sort of wonder and innocence that not many adults possess, choosing to trust in the innate goodness of people until they’ve more than shown otherwise. A pretty flower or picture will earn more attention than any amount of money. She smiles and laughs and loves and feels sad or heartbroken without worrying about what everyone else will think. This isn’t to say she’s stupid or incapable of understanding the world. Her occasionally wicked sense of humor (offering to get steak sauce for one of her alien crewmates to eat another one) says she understands far more than she lets on, but she chooses to ignore the worst parts of the world when she can.

When pressed, though, shades of what Trance is capable of begin to show through. In order to stop a fight, she quite calmly promises to kill both people involved unless they stop. “And I’ll get away with it, too. Know why? Because I’m cute.” She knows exactly what her image makes people think and uses that to her best advantage. When she’s captured by a scientist who wants to learn how to kill her because he blames her species for the near destruction of his homeworld, she slowly transforms over the course of the episode from the persona she usually projects to one that’s darker and far more worldly, outwardly lying to him and laughing when he believes her. While this darker side rarely makes an appearance, it does exist, making the occasional counterpoint to her usual bubbly outlook on life.

Strengths/Weaknesses:

+ Friendly
Trance can make friends with anyone, and she usually chooses to do exactly that at every opportunity. Or tries to, at least. The more she thinks someone ‘needs’ a friend, the harder she’ll try to be one. Granted, this can occasionally turn out badly, but for the most part, she’s pretty good at it.

+ Green Thumb
She can and does grow just about anything and everything. She loves her plants, giving them names and personalities, and taking as good care of them as she would any other living being. She’s pretty good at keeping those other living beings alive, too, being a trained medic.

+ Generous
Trance very rarely thinks of herself first. She will give a person the shirt off her back if she thinks they need it. Even if, sometimes, what she thinks someone needs isn’t exactly what they think they need.

+ Lucky
Beka occasionally refers to Trance as her personal good luck charm. She’s able to see and judge various possible futures and timelines which lets her be in the right place at the right time more often than not. Even without that, though, she’s just plain full of good luck. She’s never welcome very long in casinos.

+/- Cute
Her overall childlike attitude and manner of expression tend to make people underestimate her or discount her entirely if they don’t know her well. However, it also lets her get away with more than most people because no one would ever suspect she’s capable of certain things.

+/- Outspoken
She is not afraid of speaking her mind, either to praise someone or call them out on being mean. This is a very good trait most of the time, but it has gotten her into trouble when she’s gone up against people much larger and meaner than her. It even got her killed once, but she got better.

- Technology
Being a solar avatar, she tends to make electronic things rather... confused, much like a solar flare would interrupt signals. She manages to break supposedly foolproof equipment with surprising ease. She once managed to send the entire ship back in time accidentally. So she tends to just avoid most technology she doesn’t need to use.

- Naive
Whatever Trance knows or thinks under the surface, outwardly she’s exceedingly naive. She’s gullible, always choosing to believe the best of people, even if they’ve proved her wrong before. Part of it may certainly be an act to get people to trust her, but most of it is Trance wanting to believe in a better universe than the one that really exists.

- Secretive
She plays her cards close to her chest, close enough that even her best friends don’t always know what she’s up to. She usually manages to work things out on her own, but sometimes this practice backfires.

First Person Sample:[video]

[There’s a pretty young woman on the feed today, fiddling with the strap of the bag over her shoulder. Her blonde hair is pulled up in a pair of short pigtails, making her look younger than she probably is.

When she realizes the feed is on, she waves cheerfully.]

Oh! I got it to work. Hi! I’m usually not very good with electronics, in fact I’m kind of the opposite of good with electronics, but I guess that doesn’t count here because I don’t seem to really be me here, either, which is strange, but we’ve had stranger things happen, so I guess it’s not that strange.

[She bites her lip, suddenly looking pensive.]

Anyway, um, speaking of not being me, I’m kind of missing a tail, and it’s really kind of upsetting to me, so if anyone’s seen it, or knows who I need to talk to to get it back, I’d really appreciate it if you could let me know. So, um... thanks! Bye!

Third Person Sample: Everything happens for a reason.

She just had to keep reminding herself of that. Even if she was strangely not-purple any more, and tragically tailless, not to mention who knew how many light years away from the people she called family and the universe she was supposed to be keeping an eye on. There had to be a reason for it, so she’d just make the best of it.

Not that it was hard to make the best of things here. The scenery was beautiful and the music was fun, even if she was the only one who seemed to think so. And the best part was having Bambi around. She smiled at her Deerling, giving him a giant hug when he pranced over to her. “Even if I don’t have anyone else here yet, you’re my friend, aren’t you.”

It wasn’t strictly true that she didn’t have friends here. She did. Or she thought she did, at least. She certainly had people that she liked and that she wanted to help and who seemed to like her. It wasn’t the same, though. Beka and Harper and Rev Bem were practically family by now. Dylan and Rommie and even Tyr, too, no matter if he did his best to pretend otherwise. She knew better, though. On the inside, Tyr was just as cuddly as Bambi here.

The Deerling stood still before snorting at a leaf and bounding away again.

Maybe... not quite as cuddly. But it was still close. And all of them were back where they should be, where she should be, having adventures and probably being stupid and almost getting killed at least once a week if she knew Dylan, and by now, she totally knew Dylan. What if they needed her? Of course they needed her. It was why she was there in the first place.

She sighed, giving Bambi another hug when he came to check on her. “Is that why I’m here, too? To save... something? Or someone?” Not that he could answer, but just asking the question felt good.

She couldn’t see the possibilities here, no matter how much she tried. She couldn’t see how any of this was going to turn out. So all she could do was make the best of it.

Character

Name: Touya

Series: Yu Yu Hakusho

Timeline: About 6 hours after his team loses to Team Urameshi at the Dark Tournament

Canon Resource Links: Link here

Personality:

Touya, despite the fact that he goes against traditional teachings of shinobi by going out into the world and revealing himself, is extremely concerned about honor. He does not want to win the Dark Tournament as cheaters, despite what Team Masho's leader, Risho, wants to do. He is even assaulted by Risho when trying to plead with him that their honor was more important than cheating just to win the tournament. He truly cares for his shinobi brethren that stood with him and challenged traditional shinobi values of staying quiet and in the dark, not letting other people know that they existed. When he steps into the ring during the Dark Tournament to fight Kurama, the first thing he says is that his teammate's death would not be in vain. He also references his teammate that died before him in the ring a couple more times during the fight, saying he would make the most of his sacrifice. As well, he asks Kurama to kill him after being defeated, a practice expected when a shinobi loses in order to preserve their honor. Kurama did not acquiesce, wanting to know more about why the shinobi are suddenly revolting. Touya comes to respect not only Kurama, but Team Urameshi in general for their tactics, strength and honor.

He is also extremely ambitious. Despite what he was taught, he wanted to live life his own way, which meant to him not operating in the dark. And so, he and his teammates sought to find a place of their own, where they were free from having to work covertly. They entered the Dark Tournament in the first place because the prize for winning the whole thing was any wish. They all wished for the island the tournament was being held on as their prize--their very own place to live and do as they wished. This goes directly against centuries of shinobi masters.

Touya is usually calm and quiet, but he is extremely fierce when fighting Kurama. He is relentless with his attacks on his opponent, even taunting him. However, he is very calculating and cautious. He saw what Kurama could do during the fight with Gama, his teammate, and so decides it's best to keep his distance, despite Kurama not being able to use his energy. He also is quick to notice that Kurama was trying to distract him with smalltalk while the seal on Kurama's energy weakened.

He is very hard-working. One doesn't become a Master of Ice in the Demon World without many years (probably hundreds) of hard work. Even after being defeated by Kurama, he only wants to train harder to fight against Team Urameshi once again. He trains with Genkai, Yusuke's teacher, in order to become stronger.

Touya is also somewhat stubborn. When Kurama asks why exactly Touya and the rest of the shinobi are fighting, Touya explains that they are doing it for the "light". However, Kurama asks for further clarification, and though Touya doesn't really have an answer, he still clings to the idea and philosophy of what he's doing and why.
He doesn't associate with anyone too closely. The only exception is Jin. The two of them are almost always seen together. Outside of fighting Team Urameshi, they go to watch the finals of the Dark Tournament together. When things get hairy for people sitting in the audience, Jin automatically throws up a wind barrier to protect the both of them. As well, the two of them decide to train with Genkai together.

Strengths/Weaknesses: Try to cover the good points of what they can do, their life skills (not necessarily powers, but things they're just good at). Go into their biggest fears and what they just can’t do.

+ Calculating: Touya is an assassin and wouldn’t be Master of Ice of the most infamous sect of the Demon World shinobi if he wasn’t capable of advanced strategy

+Cautious: Again, Touya would not stay alive very long in the shinobi if he was not somewhat cautious. He begins his battle against a severely handicapped opponent by attacking him long distance, not wanting to close in, in case his opponent decided to use a trick he has not seen yet.

+Competitive: Later in the series, Touya reveals that he has been training since the Dark Tournament (about 2 years previous) in order to possibly fight against Yuusuke Urameshi, one of the strongest beings in either human or demon worlds.

+Fighting skills: Touya was trained to use his Demon Energy to help him fight, but he is still very competent at hand to hand combat without the use of weapons.

+Hard working: The fact that Touya is considered one of the strongest Ice demons on the Demon Plane is proof that he had to work hard to get there. Later in the series, he trains for two months with one of the greatest psychics to ever live in order to become even stronger.

+Honor-bound: Touya’s team is sponsored in the Dark Tournament by a human billionaire. He uses his money to give his team advantages. Touya is not pleased about it, but plays along in the hopes of avenging a fallen teammate. However, he does step up to say something to his leader later in the round, saying that it wasn’t right for them to have to cheat to win the round, let alone the tournament.

+Survival Skills: As an assassin that lives off the land essentially in Demon World, Touya is perfectly capable of being dropped anywhere and surviving.

- Cocky: Touya believed that because he had a handicap over his opponent, Kurama, he could finish him off easily. He begins the battle with a degree of caution, but by the end, he underestimates his opponent and wants to finish him off after toying with him for a while. This gave his opponent extra time to consider a strategy which ultimately led to Touya’s defeat. He does not exhibit this trait consistently.

-Little knowledge of human customs and social norms: Spending his entire life amongst demons as an assassin hasn’t made him particularly apt to being sociable, especially with humans.

-Stubborn: When asked about his ideology and obsession with being in the “light”, he has no answer for his opponent, clinging to the idea despite his lack of answer.

Accidental Video

[The feed starts with a low angled view of what appears to be a Pokémon coming out of a pokéball. A red flash of light emits from the ball as a Sneasel appears. A small noise of surprise escapes the person presumably holding the Pokégear. A small muffled What--? is heard next.]

What kind of demon are you?

[The Sneasel walks closer to the camera and seems to point in the direction of the camera. There is a second in which nothing happens, but then the angle changes as the device is raised to show the person holding it. The shinobi looks down, away from the camera, as though questioning the strange creature. He then looks into the device and sees his own image reflecting back at him. It reminded him of how his fights at the Dark Tournament had been project for the audience to see. Perhaps this was the same idea. If that was the case, there might be someone with information.

He looks back squarely at the camera.]

I’m told that these creatures are “Pokémon”. If anyone is willing to share more information on them, or on this area, please let me know.

[This was all so disorienting that he just abruptly cuts the feed, not knowing who was even out there—friend or foe.]

Third Person Sample:

If there was one thing a shinobi didn’t like, it was being out of the loop on the current situation. Touya, especially, did not like not knowing what was going on.

When the Ice Master awoke in a strange dwelling, he immediately got up from—was that a futon?—the floor. His movements were slower. He felt heavier.

He backed himself into a corner to survey the room. He attempted to pull his energy into his hand, a preparation to form ice shards in his palm, in case he needed to defend himself. Nothing happened. Not even a tingle, one that felt similar to water flowing wherever he sent his energy normally. Instead of focusing his attention on his missing Demon Energy, he continued to scan the room. It reminded him of the hotel room that he and the rest of Team Masho were staying in, only smaller and less luxurious. That, however, was saying something, considering for 99% of his life, he slept on the cold, hard ground of the Demon World. Any indoor dwelling could seem luxurious to him.

Even without his energy, he had been trained for at least a couple hundred years to fight without it. If it came down to it, Touya could definitely hold his own against anyone that thought it wise to confront him.

Stepping carefully towards where he woke up, he bent down to examine the pack that was close to where he supposed he had been “sleeping”. Rummaging through it, he found some useful items, including what looked like food with a small note—“Love, Mom”. Raising an eyebrow at that, he figured he should take it with him for later. Before he closes the pack again, Touya sees something that looks…well, unlike anything he’s ever really seen before. A small handheld device has the words, “Welcome to the world of Pokémon!”, whatever that meant. Putting it back in the pack, he slings it over his shoulder, cautiously scanning around as he leaves the house. And outside, there seemed to be quite a few people.
His left hand instinctively went to protect his stomach, where a gaping hole about 2 inches wide had been, not…well, he assumed, 10 minutes ago. He had lain down to sleep to speed his recovery by replenishing his energy and that was the last memory he had of being on Hanging Neck Island. This place looked nothing like anywhere he had seen either in the Human or Demon worlds. Granted, he didn’t have that much experience in the Human World…but that meant that he most definitely was not on that accursed island that he and his sect mates had so badly wanted to claim as their prize.

In Touya’s confusion, he had completely forgotten about his injury. He patted at the front of his clothing to make doubly sure it wasn’t there and sure enough, no pain, no bleeding. The Ice Master was becoming more and more distressed by the second. He walks away from the other people, towards what looks like forest. It would be more familiar to him than hanging around what appeared to be a large group of humans.

Abra Catastrophe

Of course, there are other episodes Crocker is in but these are the most substantial episodes to his character. As well as, the episodes below.

Outside of having had ruled the universe, Denzel has also helped Timmy Turner his moral enemy on two occasions in the episode, No Substitute for Crazy and The Future Lost.

It's also shown in A Wishful Life that if Timmy hadn't time traveled to Crocker's past and goofed everything up, Crocker would be non crazy fairy obsessed adult or rather like all the other adults in the Fairly Oddparents world. Also, Denzel's personality would be closer to that of his child self before the mind wiping. It should be noted that A Wishful Life is an alternate universe and nothing to else to do with this app expect reinforce The Secret Origin of Denzel Crocker.

Fairly Oddparents Wiki

Personality:
If one was to look up the word 'Crackpot' in the dictionary, you'd find a picture of Denzel Crocker. Like other Crackpots or cranks, Denzel thinks outside the box and holds to his own beliefs. Such as saying that fairies can make 2+2 = Fish or defy science with their magic, which in the case of the Fairly Odd world this is true. However, since magic isn't believed in by other people (who don't have fairies) Denzel is made a laughing stock by everyone in Dimmsdale and in the world because of this. Which unfortunately, Crocker does live up to his nickname of 'Crackpot' with his many quirks and bizarre rambles. However, the bizarre rambles are always hit hammer on the nail. The resentment and mockery Crocker gets on a daily bases from his environment because of his belief that magic and fairies are actually real (for over 20 years) is what causes the bitterness and revenge towards humanity.

The man's self esteem is also worn (as March 15th, 1982 breaks Crocker).
Denzel won't pick a fight on purpose with an adult but does enjoy destroying children's self esteem (particularly Timmy Turner) and teaching them 'the lessons of life'. After all life is unfair because Crocker's own life sucks (to the point to where it's funny) Denzel has a very pessimistic outlook on life. Bottom line, Crocker attains joy and glee from being a jerk to children.

Crocker however can be a rather annoying person to be around with considering his random spasms (mainly of Fairy Godparents) and quick mood swings (of insanity to depression in less than a minute) [link here]

Even though Crocker is a teacher, social interactions and him leave something to be desired. The man is very socially awkward.

Despite all of this the man is very persistent. Considering he's been seeking those fairies for five seasons and over 20 years canon time wise.

His intelligence varies depending on where in canon he's from. Early on in Fairly Oddparents, Crocker is a super hacker and meta (a character who somehow knows the plot) however in the later seasons (season 6 to current), this all disappears.

Strengths/Weaknesses:

Strengths:

Illogical thinking
Super Hacker; See Information Stupor Highway (above)
Mechanical Engineering;
As Crocker can create gizmos that manipulate, control and capture that crazy Fairy Godparent magic. Making him a formidable enemy for Timmy Turner.
Persistence
Loyally;
His ex girlfriend Geraldine Waxelplax leaves Denzel on March 15th, 1982, Denzel still confesses his love to her on random. (Remember Geraldine left Crocker for being a psychotic moron.)

Weakness:

Illogical thinking
Lack of common sense
Social interactions;
Due to the fact Crocker tolerates interacting with his class and is alone the rest of the times the man doesn't know to per say socially interact. Not to mention stalking Timmy Turner which is very anti social behavior.
Subborn
Lack of trusting;
After all his mother is never around in his childhood and Crocker's father completely abandons Denzel and Geraldine leaves Crocker.
Temper and Spasms
Obession with fairies;
Which usually causes the spasms.
Blind as a Bat without his Glasses
High Strong
Power Lust; why do you think he goes after those fairies?

Third Person Sample:

Many months have passed since Crocker's arrival to this place. The man has become obsessive about capturing these Pokemon. After all, as strange as they where and weren’t those fairies. These Pokemon did possess a magical power of sorts. Something Denzel wants to understand and control.
Having elemental creatures at your command does equal power after all. Perhaps, not that limitless Fairy Godparent power that exists in Crocker's universe... Or does it?

Licking his crooked teeth sinisterly, power is something Crocker couldn't get enough of and these rumors of these so called Legendary Pokemon has found while researching, sound promising...

"If I can understand how their powers work. So, that I, Mr. Denzel Crocker could figure out more practical means of trapping these Pokemon without the use of having to pit my own Pokemon against another! And then to drain the Legendary Pokemon power as my own!"

The man throws his head back into what forms into a deranged laughter,
"They call me mad! AND I AM! And I'll move up and I wouldn't have to take anyone's orders expect my own!"

Growlithe stares up at his master and noticing the stare Denzel snaps out of his insanity for a moment, "Not that I'd ever do that to you." Crocker states sincerely. After all, dogs, even fire dogs love you unconditionally. Human beings on the other hand are another story.

Crocker groans for a moment as he thinks of Geraldine. Team Rocket is like the family the man never had. However, the man felt like he was treated like the baby brother by his fellow 'family.' Which were causing resentful feelings towards his fellow Rockets.

The one way this place wasn't different from the universe Crocker comes from, is that once again Crocker will need to show them all of what he's capable of and not be stepped on like some doormat... Like those scientists back in his universe refusing to believe in the possibilities of magic.
Crocker's lips snarl as the man slowly strokes his Growlithe, "We'll show them. We'll show ALL OF THEM! FAIRIES! I mean - POKEMON!"

“This world is merciless… and it’s also very beautiful.”

To understand the sort of person Mikasa is, you must first take into consideration the sort of world she comes from. Growing up she has borne witness to not only the deaths of her family, but also that of her friends and comrades-in-arms, not to mention the countless lives that were lost to the titans that assaulted her city. When she was young she had her eyes opened to the truth of the world; that is, she had a first-hand experience of the age-old idiom dictating that the strong survived at the cost of the weak. In order to survive, in order to become strong, in order to win, she had to fight. It was Eren that showed her this simple truth, and it is to him that she is the most loyal to and that she safeguards the most. She has become noticeably withdrawn and quiet since that incident, but around her family she is nurturing and a bit more open, most notably to Eren and Armin.

“I’m strong. Stronger than all of you. Extremely strong. I can kill all those titans here, even if I’m alone.”

Ever since that time – and she will not hesitate to admit that Eren saved her life – she has retained perfect control over herself physically, mentally, and emotionally. To Mikasa, her family is the most important thing and she will do anything to keep them from being torn away from her. She has already lost them once; why should she have to lose them again, and the few instances where she has been seen losing her cool is when the people close to her have been threatened and/or harmed. In situations like that she is prone to rashness and fits of desperation, pushing herself to her limits and beyond so that she can keep her family close and protected even at the cost of her own life. She is hailed as a military genius and a prodigy, and is classed as being worth as many as a hundred soldiers alone, so it is not as though she doesn't have the skills and the power to achieve this. She has been shown able to flip men larger than her several feet, and has punched Eren more than once. If not for her fierce, blind loyalty to Eren she would be the perfect soldier.

“If only I had cut off their heads when I had the chance.”

Despite this – or perhaps because of this – Mikasa is far from being a ruthless killer. She is supportive and protective of the people that she cares about; she comforted Armin and in turn, was comforted by him when Eren was taken. She has no qualms when it comes to slaying titans. That is what she was trained to do, after all. However, when it comes to people she has fought alongside, while she did not hesitate to raise her swords to the soldiers that would take Eren from her, when it came to killing Reiner and Bertholdt – despite knowing what they were – she could not find it in herself to deal the killing blow. These were people she had spent her years training with; these were familiar faces, big brothers to Eren and the rest of their squad. Mikasa may be a lethal titan slayer, able to dispatch a majority of them with ease, but in this instance she finds herself questioning her inability to kill. It isn't just because it's taking another human life that throws her into turmoil - she has experience in that, unfortunately (in one instance she even threatened to kill a merchant who was impeding the escape of civilians with his greed) - but rather, it's taking a life that she knows.

“I’m sorry, Eren. I won’t give up. I’ll never give up again. If I died, I won’t be able to remember you.”

Eren can be seen as both her Achilles Heel and the force that drives her to fight on. If it were not for Eren, she would not be where she is. She would not even be alive if it were not for him. She has stated that she will follow him wherever he wishes to go, whether that is in the Scouting Legion, in the factories, or even outside of the city, where lesser men have gone to die. She values his opinion so much that when he offhandedly commented on how long her hair was getting, she cut it the next day without question. Her only wish is to remain at his side no matter what may happen and to watch over him. To Mikasa, he and Armin represent the last vestiges of family she has left, and she will stop at virtually nothing to ensure their safety, Eren most of all. She has placed herself between them and the soldiers she fought alongside and even chased after a titan alone in order to retrieve him.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
+ Perfect self-control
+ Physically strong
+/- Loyal
+/- Protective
- Self-sacrificing
- Rash and irrational (when her friends/family are threatened)

Character
Name: Mayuri Shiina
Series: Steins;Gate
Timeline: Post True End "Open the Steins Gate" from the VN. The anime will be used as supplement as long as they don't contradict each other.
Canon Resource Links:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steins;Gate
http://steins-gate.wikia.com/wiki/Steins;Gate

I can expand on it more if this is too sparse.

Personality:

Mayuri is someone who appears to be mentally a child at first. She's dense, naive and has a caring positive attitude with her wherever she goes. She gets distracted very easily, especially if it involves going after something she adores. Her naivety however gets taken advantage of without her even noticing like how fellow lab member Daru tells her occasionally to say lewd things to arouse him. She speaks in a childish manner, refers to herself in third person a lot (using her own nickname of "Mayushii") and gives cute nicknames to other people. She even has her own cutesy way of announcing herself by saying her self created word "tutturu". It's really not as annoying as it sounds. She also talks sometimes in a sing songly way with her speech.

Unlike what you may think though, she can function on her own well. She holds a parttime job at a certain maid cafe, does her shopping and trips to cons by herself at the age of 16. She's responsible, like calling her parents whenever she stays out late or overnight at where she and the lab members congregate. Combined with her naivety and being hard working, she's also just good in a sense where she won't do shady things. Like for instance how she objects to using the group's time machine for their own gain.

Did I say cons in the last paragraph? Yes, Mayuri is an "otaku" who watches anime, plays video games, buys doujinshi, and most importantly makes costumes for cosplay. But while she's a good seamstress she doesn't wear her creations, preferring to make them for her friends since she enjoys seeing them wear her creations. She works on them diligently to make them for upcoming conventions. She also has some knowledge of popular internet memes thanks to picking up it up from her fellow friends who are 2ch posters. And she peppers her text with the occasional Japanese emoticon too.

She has a heart made of gold and wouldn't harm a fly. She truly doesn't mean to cause harm to anyone or step on any toes, and if she does it's because she doesn't realize it. She tolerates her eccentric friends, most notably Okabe even when he's hamming it up as a mad scientist. She smiles and plays along with his delusions of grandeur. She's friendly and welcoming to any new lab members, especially since all the new ones are girls when previously she was the lone female of the group. She offers her support all the way to meet their goals (which means money and food a lot of the time). Thanks to her special skills, it's not difficult for her to bond with other people regardless of their age and gender, including the majority of the lab group and a child named Nae.

Perhaps thanks to creating complex costumes for cosplay, she has an eye towards detail, good memory and can pick up on stuff others cannot. She's able to deduce one mystery by herself that the rest of the group can't figure out by recalling past facts and putting two and two together so to speak. She's able to know that something is troubling her friend Okabe by realizing his behavior is off, so she's not that stupid as she first appears to be. Speaking of Okabe, their friendship is the most important relationship of the entire series and drives most of the events. They're close friends who have been inseparable ever since childhood and Okabe's (platonic) love for her drives the second half of the plot forward. One important thing about their friendship is that Mayuri is Okabe's "hostage", a thing that started many years ago when Mayuri's grandmother died when she was young. One day while visiting her grave, she reached her hand towards to sky (later to be known as Stardust Handshake and something she does even to this day) as if to reach out and touch her grandmother. Okabe then went and hugged her fiercely when he saw that. Afraid of her being swept away, he dubbed her his hostage so she couldn't escape from him and took on his mad scientist persona to keep her happy. Of course Mayuri accepted the deal and they've remained inseparable.

And that's Mayuri Shiina in a nutshell. A girl who isn't the sharpest tool in the shed but deeply cares for her friends and has hidden depths.

Strengths/Weaknesses:

+ A true friend who will always back up her comrades.
+ Very tolerant of quirky fellows and can get along with almost anyone.
+ Has a good eye for detail and can recognize when something's off about her friends before the rest do.
+ Good memory.
+ Knows how to sew costumes, including elaborate stuff for cosplay.
+ Hard working and responsible.
- Too innocent and naive for her own good.
- Kind of dimwitted and requires explanations for complex stuff.
- Spaces out sometimes, usually during her Stardust Handshake sequences when she's not really aware of her surroundings at all.
- Can grate nerves with her childish tendencies.

Tutturu ♫~!

Mayushii☆ here! Are we suppose to be in a video game now~? It's so weird, this is just like a video game Mayushii played when she was just a little girl! And I even got a little cute pocket monster for me to have (≧▽≦). But Mayushii needs to go home now, she doesn't have time for video games like Daru. My shift starts in one hour and can't be late~ Otherwise the customers might get very unhappy. Mayushii can't skip on working today too cause I need the money for sewing supplies. Okarin might get sad too since he lost his hostage! Well I better get back to watching over Pipi! Bye bye♥

Third Person Sample:

After a night of rest for Mayuri and Pipi on Route 29, Mayuri came to a conclusion that camping out was not nearly as comfortable as it sounded in the commercials or sales papers for it. She didn't even have anybody to comfort her alone besides Pipi. She would even take Daru, knowing full well he would try to sleep uncomfortably close to her and snore. But unfortunately her friends were no longer here to be found and now Mayuri was on her own. She traveled into the forest, holding Pipi. She never put her starter in the Pokeball since she first let her out, preferring a little comfort with at all times. Even with just repeated cries of her species name, Mayuri found them to put her at ease while walking through an unfamiliar place.

She came to a stop when she spotted something sitting on a tree taking a nap! It was a bird, no Mayuri had never seen a bird like this before! Maybe she could catch something this time before scaring it off like yesterday.

"Pipi, let's do this." She smiled and whispered, setting down her Togepi. "Let's do a super special surprise attack." Ordering her Togepi for a surprise attack.

Pipi agreed with a soft cry and started to wave it's tiny hands back and forth, creating a glow around them. What was this attack, Mayuri didn't remember it. "Ehh-" But before she could continue her sentence, her Togepi stopped wiggling it's hands and turned into a ball of light. That light encased both her and and wild pokemon as the tiny cute mon exploded, sending a shockwave out and throwing Mayuri back several feet. She let out a shriek. What happened just now? She was confused and hurt and possibly even cracking a bone or two. She got up on her feet and ran towards where her Togepi was.

"Oh no Oh no I've got to get help now!" She sorted through the grass to find her Togepi on the ground passed out and the Pidgey she was planning on catching right beside of it, also blacked out. Mayuri opened her mouth in disbelief and horror and seeing her pokemon appearing dead and hurt so she scooped up both of them into her arms. She remembered beforehand that there was a place called a Pokecenter and that it fully heal all her pokemon. She stumbled on her way there, trying to rush back to make it in time.

Etc: Since none of Mayuri's items fall under the weapons rule, here's what she'll be bringing into Route.

- Her Pocketwatch, named Poketty that is a keepsake from her grandmother.
- A Metal Upa. It's a small collectible figure that can be unfastened to store things in and is fireproof.
- A small portable sewing kit for emergencies.

Also the canon references Pokemon itself so Mayuri will have some rudimentary knowledge of it.

With Sunny's permission, Togepi will start out with the egg move Extrasensory because metronome is worthless and it would leave Mayuri and her mon basically helpless.

Timeline: After his death (episode one)
Canon Resource Links: FMA Wiki

[personal profile] glaciates 2013-06-06 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality:
Seven years ago there was a civil war in the country of Amestris. Alchemists - powerful soldiers capable of using advanced scientific techniques to destroy the opponent - were sent in to finish the war. Isaac McDougal was one of those alchemists. The Ishval War shaped Isaac more than any other event in his life. He left the military as soon as the war was over and went into hiding, joining up with the Anti-Establishment Movement, a group plotting to overthrow the "corrupt" government.

Isaac has a very strong sense of morals; in his opinion, the Ishval War was nothing more than an extermination of a group of people for no reason. The war left him very bitter toward the government he had served. He proceeds to attempt to take down the military single-handedly, regardless of the personal cost. He tries to freeze Central Headquarters over despite knowing that at the very least he'll be captured. He believes what he's doing is for the greater good and he's willing to go to any lengths to accomplish his goal. The creation of a Philosopher's Stone involves thousands of souls; something Isaac must have realized once he figured out what Bradley was attempting to do with the country. Yet Isaac has an incomplete Philosopher's Stone that he's willing to use to activate the array that will freeze Central over. In this case, the ends really do justify the means.

Isaac isn't exactly selfless, however. He only attempts to enlist the help of one other person to take down the government. This is mostly due to his overconfidence in his capabilities, as well as confidence in the incomplete Philosopher's Stone he's been given. Had he put aside his pride and enlisted more help, he might have actually succeeded in his plan to freeze Central over. Isaac does get very close on his own, but this is mostly due to the Philosopher's Stone.

Once Isaac sets his sights on something, nothing is going to stop him. He's not only determined, he's stubborn. He refuses to explain himself and expects others to understand what he's doing. When Mustang asks for his surrender, Isaac refuses to even consider it. While this is due in part to his ego, Isaac genuinely believes that something has to be done immediately and everyone who doesn't agree with him is in the wrong. He's very open about his irritation with Mustang for remaining in the military after the Ishval War and escapes before Mustang and the soldiers can capture or kill him. This doesn't stop him from attempting to carry out his goal.

That's another major part of his personality; Isaac has spent seven years on the run from the military, he's used to relying only on himself. He doesn't trust anyone. He attempts to enlist the help of another alchemist who was in Ishval with him, Solf J. Kimblee. Kimblee killed his superior officers and was arrested; Isaac was under the impression Kimblee did this to send a message to Bradley about the war. Isaac was willing to risk being captured in order to seek out Kimblee in Central Prison, only to be turned away and informed that Kimblee only killed his superiors because he wanted to. The fact that he trusts Kimblee enough to break him out of prison and risk capture just to attempt to gain his cooperation speaks volumes about Isaac and just how much he trusted Kimblee. When that trust is shattered, he doesn't back down from his plans, instead he keeps going. That just reaffirmed what he's been practicing for the past seven years; you can't trust anyone.

Obviously, Isaac is rash. He doesn't think things through very well before he acts. His plan to freeze Central over required a bit of forethought, but he acted very quickly on it without planning for interference from other alchemists. Again, he relied far too heavily on the Philosopher's Stone and expected that to ensure his victory. Had he stopped to think things through, he might have realized that in order to ensure success, he'd need more help. Clearly this thought did cross his mind, because he does try to enlist Kimblee's help. After that, however, he doesn't attempt to alter his original plans any.

For a character who appears in only one episode, there's a surprising amount of depth to Isaac's character. He's taking action against the entire government because of what he's discovered about the country; while this may not make him brave, it certainly does mean he's bold. He's able to avoid capture for seven years prior to this, and even when orders are given to shoot him on sight he still manages to survive for an entire day. Isaac ultimately is just trying to do what he believes is right, regardless of the personal cost.

Isaac hasn't changed much during his time in Johto. He's mellowed out a bit and he's realized that he was indeed in the wrong with his attack on Central, but for the most part he hasn't changed. He's still determined to take Bradley down, should Bradley ever show up in Johto again, and he's still determined to do what's right to make up for the things he did back home. Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately), he's wound up in Team Rocket this time around. Maybe he can make a difference. Or maybe he'll be outed before he has a chance to do that. Who knows?

Strengths/Weaknesses:
✔ Let's start with the obvious one here: alchemy. Isaac is still known by his alchemist title "the Freezing Alchemist" even seven years after leaving the military. His alchemy isn't actually based around ice, but rather water - he can utilize the array etched into his gauntlet (or the one tattooed on his palm) to freeze any source of water. This includes the human body - one touch with the activated array can result in freezing the target solid or boiling the blood within the body and burning them. Either way it results in death. Isaac can also boil other sources of water, though he tends to rely on freezing. Finally, he can create massive glaciers that are incredibly difficult to stop with a larger transmutation completed by three separate arrays in specific locations. Obviously none of these abilities will work in Route.
✔ Isaac is incredibly strong. In the anime he's not only able to block Edward's attacks, but he's also able to flip Alphonse over his head. Alphonse is a suit of armor and is at least a foot taller than Isaac. This isn't any super-human ability; Isaac is just naturally very strong. This comes from years of training, which has only intensified over the past seven years since he joined the Anti-Establishment Movement.
✔ He's also very fast and flexible. Again, he's able to dodge Edward and Alphonse's attacks and counter them. When he is eventually arrested, he manages to escape and avoid capture for another day. Isaac has avoided capture for seven years since he left the military as well, which means he's also quite good at keeping a low profile. This only changes once he's discovered the array beneath Amestris and the plans to turn the country into a Philosopher's Stone.
✔ Isaac has a very strong sense of justice. He didn't agree with what was happening in the Ishval War, but he didn't act out. Afterwards he left the military and began acting against it. He finally moves to take down Bradley (whom he believes is behind the array to transform Amestris into a Philosopher's Stone) because it's the right thing to do. That, and no one else seemed to figure it out. Good job, guys.
✔ It might not seem like it, but Isaac is quite clever. Alchemy is a science and Isaac has extensive knowledge of the composition of the human body, which enables him to utilize his alchemy. He's also very perceptive; he's the first character in Brotherhood to figure out what's going on in Amestris (outside of the ones behind it, of course).

✔ / ✘ Blind determination is another one of Isaac's major characteristics. This can be beneficial and harmful, depending on the situation. While this does mean that once he's set his sights on something he won't budge until he obtains it, it also means he won't focus on anything else or consider any other options. He wants to stop Bradley, so he'll take care of things his way.

✘ Isaac is very rash. He discovers what's happening in Amestris and instead of attempting to come up with a plan that could gather support, he instead chooses to attempt to take down Bradley on his own. He does come up with a plan that nearly succeeds, but he could have come up with something better if he had taken the time to stop and think about it.
✘ Social cues aren't something Isaac picks up on very easily. He's naturally a loner and tends to socialize only when others initiate it. His choice in "friends" is questionable as well; he seeks Kimblee's help before turning to any of the other alchemists he was on good terms with during the Ishval War. Kimblee laughs him out of Central Prison. Isaac also expects others to understand what he's trying to do without giving enough explanation. Ed brushes him off, and instead of attempting to explain himself, Isaac gives up.
✘ Isaac is very idealistic. This is very problematic in his homeworld; he acts on ideals rather than trying to come up with a more pragmatic approach to obtaining those ideals.
✘ Isaac doesn't trust anyone. This is something he's developed over the years due to the fact that the military has been pursuing him, but it's not a great thing to have here in a new world. He prefers to work alone and the only person he actually trusted to help him turned him away. He's still bitter about that.
✘ He has no issues hurting people despite very openly hating what happened in the Ishval War. He doesn't stop to think about how many people could be hurt because of what he's doing. Someone has to stop Bradley, after all.

Character
Name: Jade Harley
Series: Homestuck
Timeline: Act six, act five what as she's asking Jake where his pants are
Canon Resource Links: Here

Personality: Jade is the last kid to be introduced in Homestuck, but that by no means is indicative of her being unimportant. In the beginning she is described as a silly girl!!! often energetic despite her fits of narcolepsy (though this wasn't her fault) and gets along well with the rest of the kids, indeed none of them have a negative thing to say about her (well except the falling asleep thing, but again that's not her fault). Jade is optimistic and often had a penchant for just "knowing" things, gained from seeing visions in the clouds in her dream world of Prospit while she's asleep. Jade very often has many things on her mind, whether awake or asleep, and so keeps her thoughts straight with colorful reminders tied to her fingers (though she still has some difficulties keeping things straight anyway). Living alone for most of her life allowed Jade to build up a sense of independence and a gamut of skills (though she still speaks of her grandfather lecturing her STERNLY to make sure she brings along plenty of ammunition for safety purposes long after he died and she stuffed his corpse) as well as several INTERESTS that are stated immediately in her introduction.

She has peaceful hobbies like gardening and playing the bass, as well as an interest in nostalgic cartoons and fauna of an anthropomorphic persuasion, yet is also a skilled markswoman and often spars with Bec to keep herself in practice. Though she would never actually put her crosshairs on any innocent creature, Jade is by no means defenseless or unwilling to fight (she spars/plays with Bec in this manner actually) but she is not violent at the same time and will only seek actual physical combat as a last resort. Most significant is her interest in nuclear physics and building robots, her dreambot helped her keep her dreams straight (mentioned earlier as seeing visions in the clouds of Skaia) with its recordings and interact with her friends when her narcoleptic fits hit, as they were often unpredictable and she doesn't recall them happening when she wakes up. Her interest in robotics as well ends in making a gift for John with the help of her pen pal Jake.

Her relationship with Bec is an important one throughout her history, as well as her relationship with the other kids, but what brings out her other traits most of all is her relationship with the trolls. It's easy to think that Jade is just cheerful and positive all the time, though that is not so, the trolls have often harassed her throughout her life (time shenanigans, Homestuck is full of them) she outright dislikes them all and is either antagonistic or bossy with quite a few of them, though the ones that are friendly towards her (such as Kanaya and Tavros) she listens to and even befriends (though mind you she even befriended Karkat eventually after giving him a second chance, he admitted that he was being a bulgerot to her and she didn't deserve it). She even…well, awkwardly forgave Tavros when she found out that he killed her grandpa when he was under the mistaken impression that Grandpa Harley was an intruder and out to hurt Jade. Though she also had to (gently, mind you) let him down when he admitted to having red feelings for her. From this it can be easily assumed that she is willing to befriend and forgive anyone that is friendly to her first or proves themselves worthy of having a second chance.

Her bossy and temperamental side, which comes out when she's at the end of her rope of patience, has a way of making her go loco and smack the hell out of people, even herself in sprite form. While Jade was sympathetic towards Jadesprite's crying at first, trying to converse with her incited a reaction of extreme distaste. Indeed, being confronted with Jadesprite and how defeated she was did seem to shake Jade into outrage. Jadesprite was weepy and refused to do anything except cry and wail about wishing to be dead again even though Jade informed her that she had to help for the sake of their friends. Jade is brave, Jade does what's best for her friends, Jade gets things done, Jade does not lie down in defeat and cry as Jadesprite does, yet Jadesprite is her, or at least a possibility for her. It's interesting in that Jade is so straightforward about herself and her feelings otherwise, yet there seems to be a hint of her holding herself to perfectionist standards and even beating herself up for making mistakes privately. But she makes no time to dwell on these things and instead moves forward. She does not hate herself, no, not by a long shot, but she does expect better of herself and wishes to do better for the sake of her friends and her responsibilities.

She tends to push her friends this same way for their own safety as well, though not in the insulting violent way that she did with Jadesprite or even Karkat (remember she didn't trust trolls at one point) when she was trying to wake up John's dreamself, yes, she smacked and yelled at him as he was about to die from falling out of Prospit (though she ended up dying herself for her trouble) but before that she was calmly sitting on his bed in the tower, scribbling out his self-deprecating messages to himself and covering them with hearts and words of encouragement like "you can do it john!!!" There's no stopping and no giving up.

That's right, Jade doesn't easily give up on something! Where there's a will, there's a way, as long as there is something worth fighting for she'll fight to the bitter end, even if it's not fighting with brute force, no, that is less strategic than how Jade approaches things preferring to feel things out and gain knowledge on what's to come first. Indeed, as most players of Sburb would confront the monster of their quest planet (called a denizen) as a final boss to defeat and destroy, Jade sought hers out specifically to ask for advice and even bargain with. Through their talks she reached a peaceful understanding with Echidna and she promised to take care of the other planets in exchange for Echidna's knowledge and advice that she so desired.

Besides her promise to Echidna, Jade takes on a lot of responsibility through the session as a Hero of Space and plans ahead on what she shall do next and how it will benefit the other players in her session, her class (Witch) being an active player enhances her already proactive personality. Frog breeding, orchestrating several things ahead of time and planning around them accordingly, working past setbacks and continuing to go forward all for the greater good is her duty in life and she will continue it all for the sake of her friends and protecting them, as well as keeping her promises.

As time goes on in the session, Jade seems to mellow slightly (there's only so much you can do when you are trapped on a spaceship with your friends for three years) and gains a liking for "so bad it's good" movies (she finds them charming in a cheesy enjoyable way). Most significantly, she appears to take on a role as a sarcastic "straight man" to her ectotwin's more overreactive nature. She seems perfectly fine with being on the ship and admits this as she likes being around so many people after being alone for her entire life on the island (though in the beginning of the trip she did offer to teleport John to be with Rose and Dave if that would make him happy, but he refused since he knew that would leave her alone). Jade even goes on to defend Davesprite's behavior towards her (and to John too as Davesprite has a tendency to be cold and distant to everyone by default) to John as "he's just going through a lot of things right now" after telling him that they broke up… though she puts her foot down at John calling science "stupid bullshit" DO NOT insult science when Jade Harley is around!

Obviously they make up later; Jade can't hold a grudge or stay mad at her friends for very long and is always more than willing to give a second chance as said before. Though she can go ahead of everyone and make moves that they might not necessarily agree with in order to protect them as exampled by her abandoning ship at the end of their journey (while John was asleep) and going off to save Jake and Jane from mortal peril. Who's completely unafraid and going to protect her loved ones no matter what? It's Jade, because it's her duty to be the hero, it's her.

Strengths/Weaknesses:

Some of these were already covered in her personality but--

Strengths:

-Optimistic
-Seriously, endlessly optimistic
-Friendly
-Forgiving
-Intelligent (seriously, nuclear physics)
-Inventive
-Brave
-Self-sufficient
-Loyal

Weaknesses:

-Headstrong
-When her fuse is lit, it's pretty bad
-Impatient
-Self critical
-Cats, although with the loss of her dog traits that wouldn't be so anymore
-Scatterbrained (too many things on her mind at once)
-Her loyalty serves as a weakness too, it's often at odds with what's best for her and she ignores the latter in favor of what's best for her friends
-HAS A TENDENCY TO BE REALLY REALLY REALLY SECRETIVE "oh hey guys don't worry I am sure everything will be all right, I actually am planning something but I can not tell you what it is yet :)"

[When the 'Gear clicks on, there seems to be a conversation already in progress. The enigmatic Mom is explaining how the different functions work in the device.]

Isn't it so advanced, dear?

[After a moment, someone—what sounds like a much younger girl—clears their throat awkwardly.]

Ummm, ma'am, I do not know why you are calling me "dear" but I know for a fact that you are not my mother. [Also this device isn't that advanced, she's made and interacted with much more advanced tech, either way Mom--as always--seems like she's ignoring the "you're not my mom" statement.] I think I will be able to figure out the rest myself, thank you very much. I should go now, I am sure that you are very busy doing your Mom things and I don't want to hold you up!

Of course, dear, have fun on your journey!

[The girl laughs and thanks Mom for the vote of confidence (and for helping her untangle her hair when she woke up) and flicks off the feed for a moment

Only to turn it back on a few moments later, except to type out a message.]

jake??? jane????
are you guys okay, where are you? :(
.............
jake why were you not wearing pants, seriously? :\a

[Then she turns on the video. Hello Johto, have a teenage girl and her plant dinosaur on the screen.]

I think there were Pokemons games, right? I never played those, I only watched the cartoon, I wonder if it is all right for me to go on a journey when I am not familiar with the games?

[Bulbasaur paws at her and Jade looks down at the Pokemon, smiling fondly.]

Yes, you are very cute! And it's nice that I got a grass type, I have not been able to keep up with my gardening pursuits in a while.

[…And she shakes her head.]

Oh, bluh! What am I even talking about? I shouldn't be here, I should be in our session! [Everyone is counting on her :( she looks very distressed by not being in familiar territory.]

Third Person Sample:

This really came at a bad time.

Jade usually would have been excited to have the opportunity to take a Pokemon journey, of course she would! What kid that played (or watched in her case) Pokemon hasn't dreamt about a moment like this? Especially with a Bulbasaur, everyone knows that Bulbasaur are the most awesome Pokemon.

Except…she can't be doing this journey right now; there are still so many things to do back at home, actual lives are in danger and her role in that weighs on her mind.

"What do I do, Bulbasaur?" she asked, kneeling down to be at level with the Pokemon, which was looking at her with concern in the meantime.

"Saur!" Bulbasaur places a paw on her knee and then nods its head at the path to the route ahead. "Saur, saur!"

Jade tilts her head and glances over in the direction her partner is indicating. "You think that if we take the journey, we will find who I am looking for regardless?"

As Bulbasaur nods enthusiastically, Jade realizes that it does make a good point; if her friends are indeed here, she should run into them eventually! Even if they weren't in the next town over, she shouldn't stop looking for them, they were no longer in their session but that didn't mean she should stop concerning herself with making sure they're safe. "You're right, we need to keep moving!" Jade says, punching her fist into her open palm. "We have to work on being the best that no one ever was!"

Bulbasaur nods again, happy that its trainer looks to be cheering up. Jade smiles in turn and pets it lightly. "Thank you so much, Bulbasaur—ah, you know what? I think you should have a name; it would be silly to just keep calling you Bulbasaur, right? Let's see…" The Pokemon tilts its head at her as Jade considers what she should call it. "Well first you must tell me, are you a boy or are you a girl?"

When all she gets in reply is a stare, Jade shakes her head and rubs her temples. "No, no, that's a stupid question, ignore me Bulbasaur, you can be whatever you want to be. I will figure out a suitable name for you eventually. For now, let's concentrate on finding who we are looking for."

Admittedly, it felt pretty good not being alone on this journey as well.

Kuroshitsuji

Personality: Snake is extremely shy. It takes him time to warm up to people, having gotten used to people seeing him as nothing more than a freak. He doesn't give his trust very easily to people because he has been hurt so many times in the past. Once he does decide to put his faith into someone he is loyal, even if he won't open up completely. He also doesn't always share everything he knows. He doesn't warn the rest of the first-tier members when Ciel and Sebastian look through the tents, and when the first-tier members go missing, he doesn't offer much information to the other members, letting them figure what to do on their own. He was grieving and dislikes being relied on by others, so he left instead of answering their questions well. He can also be playful at times. He sometimes comes off as sarcastic, and he even flirts with Dagger through Emily.

He has never had a great number of friends besides his snakes, so when he does have a friend, they are that much more precious to him. He feels awkward in front of strange people and in busy places. He's extremely self-conscious because of his appearance and believes that he won't fit into normal society because of it. While it might not deeply upset him, he does wish he could be accepted by people for who he is. Because of how shy he is, almost every time he says something, he is actually speaking for one of his snakes. His snakes are loyal to him, and help him out by being his voice as much as their own voice. Each one of his snakes also has a simple, if distinct, personality of their own as I will expand on in "anything else".

Snake does speak for himself a few times, including when he says, "It's lonely being by yourself...." Even when accompanied by his snakes, without a human connection he feels extremely lonely. This loneliness and his loyalty was serious enough that the next story arc- a lock-door murder mystery- was actually set off because Snake had sent in one of his snakes to try to kill Ciel. Normally he is shy and reserved, but that loss was strong enough to drive Snake to attempt murder. Two of the other few times he has spoken for himself, it has been about how good the food on the ship tasted, showing his own personal appreciation for the luxury of fine food, as well as his kindness and how loyal he is to his snakes when he decides to share it with them.

Even with the hardships he has had, he keeps hope alive, even if it falters sometimes. He would rather take action than just lay back and let things happen. The one problem with that is that he doesn't always go out of his way to ask what is going on, so he is easily left out of things.

Strengths/Weaknesses: Snake has a very strong sense of compassion and loyalty. He can easily be fooled into doing things by people, but he also has a sense of right and wrong. Sometimes his loyalty and sense of right and wrong will not line up, and he tends to lean towards inaction over trying things. He waits for the right moment before doing something, but that can also get him in trouble. His patience is also a strength, as he won’t rush things that shouldn’t be.

He also is capable of speaking to snakes in Kuroshitsuji (as speaking with animals is the only ability able to be carried over), but, as discussed above, he rarely speaks for himself, so his own opinions and thoughts are often overshadowed and hard to discern. He is also excellent with espionage-style work. He is good at moving silently, and with his history in the circus he has related skills. Also, because of the nature of his life on the road he is rather used to travel. He slept in a rather nice private tent, but he is shown to once have no more than a cage to live in and perfectly comfortable with travelling across England with ease. He can also understand his snakes and get covert reports from them. He is also well-read, preferring to name his snakes after the names of famous authors.

Having scaled skin also means most superficial blemishes will not last long and instead be shed, but his scales can also get irritated by certain clothes or if he lets his skin get too dry (but that is only likely to happen if he needs to wear clothes that irritate him too much, as his skin creates oils like everyone elses’). He doesn’t seem to have much in the way of fears, aside from concern about his friends getting hurt, but that ties in closely with his loyalty. His eyes also have slit-irises that allow him to see better in low light. These physical abnormalities also make him very recognizable. (I should note that there is no direct evidence for how easily irritated his scales get, but I consider the patches to be a simplified drawing method and the scales to cover all of his skin as his skin tone, making them not as obvious as they would be if patterned. Having scales in that manner would mean they are likely to function in the same way a snake’s scales would. I would also suspect venom would not affect him very much, but I hope to not need to consider that until canon gives a hint one way or the other on the subject.)

First Person Sample: [Snake looks at the device curiously. He still isn’t used to the idea of it, but he’d heard that it was useful for interacting with people. He was worried how people would react to him still, but with an Ekans draped around his shoulders and a Seviper protectively coiled around him he felt a great deal more confidant.

It still takes him a while to decide what to say, and he listens carefully to each of his pokemon before finally saying something.]

“Why do people have pokemon battles? Do other pokemon really like battles?” asks Ruskin.

[He might not have said it yet, but the Seviper’s nickname was Ruskin. He wasn’t planning on giving any further explanation about his speaking habits, or who he is either, at least not until he is asked. He was always a little vague with whether he was just translating, or if he was expressing his own thoughts using the names of his friends to hide how shy he was.]

Third Person Sample: It had been three weeks since he arrived. Three long weeks. Two training, one desperately trying to figure out how to leave this wretched group, but a snake larger than him was thrilled with the team. Excited about their missions. Encouraging him in their search for sufficient Pokèmon to give to their boss. Ruskin, his Seviper, was far more interested in finding Zangoose to fight and even sometimes eat.

He preferred Ruskin's line of thought to his Ekans', John, but to survive he would need to do just that, or it seemed that way. If having an upset snake that could eat you whole wasn't bad enough, he would end up having trouble for his entire time here if he betrayed the group, the jail time only a part of the trouble. He would have told the police if his Ekans wasn't so good at warning him about their every approach.

Time was growing close to the due date and he hadn't yet had the heart to steal from anyone. All the trainers he found loved their Pokèmon too much. He couldn't bare to part them, even if he didn't completely agree with the methods of training. At least John and Ruskin both seemed eager to get into battles and have fun with them, even though they'd get hurt.

He just needed to find someone with freshly caught Pokèmon that they did not yet have connections with, or even a snake Pokèmon he could convince to join him. Maybe with John he could at least catch his own, but John was pretty insistent on stealing one.

It hurt him that somehow his dear Ekans seemed so cheerful about the horrible things they wished of him, stealing poor pokemon from poor people that loved them. It was despicable, but he could only wonder what he could do to escape their grasp. He would do what he must, hunt what he needed to, but only until he could find some way that was better than this. Some way to help John, maybe even the other pokèmon trained by the rockets. Whatever it was he could do. But he would need to wait to do that.

This link is also fairly relevant if you want more info on the type of God she is.

Just a few notes about her history. She likely existed before Gensokyo was created, and simply moved there when the general populace of the world began losing faith in gods and other manner of mythological beings. This also means she has at least several hundred years of experience and knowledge under her belt. Well, historical knowledge. Anything that's come out in the past century or so would probably be new to her. Gensokyo is rather old fashioned, and behind on technology, except for whatever the Kappas make. Cameras, lights, radios, those exist, but they're not as advanced as the modern day equivalents for the most part.

Personality:
One of the first things you should know is that Minoriko is very kind. She doesn't like to see others struggling, and if she feels she can lend a hand, she very likely will. Even if they request that she doesn't. A Goddess should know how to care for her people, even if she is just a minor Goddess. To this end, she gladly helps others out, especially when it comes to growing, caring for, and harvesting crops. Due to her caring nature, Minoriko is fairly popular among the villagers, and she's invited to the harvest festival each year, as well as other festivals. She enjoys seeing the people so happy, and has even set up a sweet potato stand in the village so that she can not only spend more time among them, but to share the fruits of her labor as well. She also gets along fairly well with the other non-human residents of Gensokyo, especially the other deities. Minoriko doesn't particularly care much for Reimu, the miko of the Hakurei Shrine, due to her laziness, but she does have to respect her for following the Shinto way of life. Her normally cheerful disposition also attracts others to her, and she tries to keep her mood up, even when working hard.

However, when it comes to working, she expects to see others actually doing work, rather than just lazing about. Minoriko is very serious about each year's harvest. The lives of people depend on food, and if it isn't cared for and harvested properly, the consequences could be dire. On that front, she can be fairly aggressive in making sure that all the time that should be spent working is spent working. She can't stand laziness. How can anyone just sit around doing nothing when there's so much that could be done? There is a time for rest and relaxation, but that comes after daily chores and several hours of hard labor. Yes, she's a little more lenient with women and children, but that doesn't mean that they can just get out of doing everything. There's smaller tasks that they can do as well. Minoriko herself spends as much of her time as possible watching over and helping with the crops, which makes her even more respected by the villagers. Without her, their winter food supply would not be as plentiful. She also hates it when people disturb her when she is working. If it's a question about how something should be done, or to check their work, that's one thing. If they simply want to know 'what's up' or something like that, it just irritates her. As she has the power to destroy the harvest as well, it helps motivate the villagers to do their fair share rather than simply expecting the harvest to be bountiful on its own. She doesn't threaten them with it or anything, they just know what she's capable of.

Although she is a Goddess, Minoriko doesn't look down on everyone as one might think of a deity. Rather, she'd like to think that mortals are her friends. She does believe respect is in order, but she doesn't want to see people grovelling at her feet or anything. A simple thanks is good enough for her. As is the satisfaction of watching others enjoy the fruits of her and their labors. To her, nothing is as pleasant as the scents of freshly harvested fruits and vegetables. As there are other gods of the harvest in existence, she has to work a bit harder to gather faith for herself. She even holds her work in higher regard over her older sister's head. Shizuha Aki is the Goddess of the autumn leaves. Minoriko thinks the leaves are indeed beautiful in their own way, and Shizuha spends a lot of time painting them by hand. But - the display of the foliage is fleeting compared to the harvest. A visual display of beauty versus sustenance for the populace for several months? There's no contest. As a Goddess of the fall, it's only natural that Minoriko dislikes winter. It puts an end to the harvest season, and nothing can be done until spring returns to thaw the ground and the planting season can begin anew.

Religion plays only a small part in Minoriko's life. The Gods only have power so long as people have faith in them, which is why she expects people to respect her. Without faith, a God will eventually lose their power...and this is the same as death for them. This was one of the reasons Minoriko and Shizuha relocated to Gensokyo. The populace within still believed in the Gods, and so they could continue gathering their faith. She mentions at one point that the Gods generally put a lot of work into themselves in order to help attract followers. Minoriko settles for simply looking representable and wears a perfume that smells like freshly harvested sweet potatoes. Which Reimu thinks made her smell good enough to eat. She's not much into being very fancy, and has rather simplistic tastes in fashion and non-work activities. When the 'religious war' started up recently, rather than attempt to prove their place through violence, they stood on the sidelines, as did the other Shinto Gods. Minoriko doesn't particularly care for violence, and will do nearly anything she can to avoid conflict, but unfortunately, there are times where she needs to stand up for herself and her sister. She certainly has the capability to fight, she just chooses not to.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
+ Will help people in need - As a Goddess, Minoriko feels it's one of her duties to make sure her people are doing well, and if they are having trouble with something, she will likely be eager to lend a hand.

+ Cheery - Minoriko has a normally cheerful disposition. She does her best to keep up good mood, and it's pretty hard to shake when she does. There's only a few things that are capable of bringing her mood down.

+ Kind to others and fairly sociable - In order to retain her faith as a Goddess, Minoriko can't be rude or uncaring to her people. She's in fact very kind to others so long as they respect her, and she spends much of her free time among the people.

+ Skilled at growing fruits/vegetables - Minoriko is the Goddess of the fall harvest. Even without her powers, she's very knowledgeable about edible plants, when to plant them, how to care for them, and of course, harvesting them when it is time. In Route, she will be particularly interested in Berries.

+ Good work ethic - Minoriko can't abide laziness. She sets a certain portion of each day dedicated to working. Whether it be watering the crops, sowing new seeds, harvesting, or even just checking on the liveliness of her crops in general, she won't sit around and do nothing.

+/- Promotes good work ethic AKA get your lazy ass up and doing something - As stated before, Minoriko can't stand people being lazy. She does her best to promote activity and hard work. Good things don't just happen, they have to be earned.

- Doesn't like to be disturbed while working - When hard at work, Minoriko doesn't like to be bothered. There's a time and place for socializing. When she's busy is not that time.

- Dislikes winter - Winter signals the end of autumn, and is a period of several months where Minoriko can't really do anything but plan for the next growing season. And it's so bland! Nothing compares to the gorgeous colours and wonderful scents of autumn.

- Can be somewhat pushy - Especially when it comes to getting people to work. Woe to any farmer who decides to sleep in on a perfect day for working the fields. She's not above storming into your house and waking you up, either. Also, if she feels you need help, you're getting helped.

[The video feed of the gear is turned on to show a young woman staring inquisitively at the device. She glances back at the guide in her free hand for a moment, before appearing satisfied that the gear is indeed on.]

After speaking with the residents of this village and thoroughly reading the guide I was supplied with, I believe I understand my current situation.

And although I understand, I am not able to simply sit by idly and wait for some miraculous force to reunite me with my people. I wish to know firsthand from some of the others who've been trapped here as to what life is like here, and if there is any knowledge not contained within the guide I should be aware of.

[Minoriko sighs, before resuming. It felt odd that no one knew her here. Back home, everyone at least knew of her deeds, if not her name. She had to wonder what the people of the human village would think. Would they believe she'd abandoned them and lose faith in her?]

I would also like to know if my concerns about my own world are unwarranted. My people will be devastated if I am gone for too long.

I will await answers and begin travelling to seek some on my own as well.

Thank you for listening.

[Well, she hoped at least someone was listening. Otherwise this would have been kind of pointless.]

Third Person Sample:
It had been nearly six months since Minoriko had arrived in Johto. In that time, she'd learned much about this world and had come to accept that she was trapped here, at least for the time being. So while she was here, she'd decided to make the most out of it. She'd collected quite a variety of Pokémon, and bred them for other people. Not simply anyone, though. She wanted to make sure that they would be cared for properly.

Minoriko had saved up enough money from adoption fees to rent a small house on the outskirts of Mahogany Town. Well, more of a cottage, really. She hadn't wanted anything too fancy. Here she was away from the busy hubbub of the larger cities, which had been quite a shock to her when she had first seen them. There were so many people, and there were so many new things! It was exciting at first, but they were loud, and a little too hectic for her liking. Mahogany was a quaint little town, and everyone there was fairly nice. In fact, she'd just had one of the townspeople visit to buy some sweet potatoes from her.

Yes, in addition to breeding Pokémon for funds, Minoriko had gone back to her roots with farming. Both food for humans and Pokémon alike. She'd bought quite a few different saplings and seed packets to start up a small orchard and a large garden. Tilling was made a little simpler with the aid of her Tropius, Kinomi. That didn't mean she slacked off, though. Minoriko happily hand-picked every weed and looked over each plant to make sure they were free of pests and disease. Today's work was done, however. There was just an hour or two of daylight left. Enough to run a few errands in town or to gather up a few ripe fruits and vegetables to bring and sell tomorrow. Kinomi seemed to think otherwise though, nudging Minoriko. It had been a while since they had simply relaxed. She smiled up at the dinosaur-like Pokémon.

"Oh, you think we should take it easy tonight?"

The Tropius nodded in response, and Minoriko stroked the top of her head.

"Very well. Let's have a picnic dinner with the others. You all deserve it for working so hard. And I suppose I do too. It won't hurt to take a break for one night."

She gave Kinomi's neck a brief hug, before starting to walk back to the cottage.

"I'll even prepare all of your favourite foods!"

[personal profile] misterbrief 2013-06-13 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
Personality:

Vegeta is the prince of his race, the Saiyans, with an attitude to match his status. He believes his race is the most powerful race in the universe, and has no issues displaying his pride for them. Vegeta is prominently arrogant and hot-headed, ruthless and cold. He's a little more mature in his old age- where he once would have flown off the handle at something that irritated him, he now will generally meet it with an eye roll or shrug it off, his temper having a longer fuse than previously. That doesn't mean he won't get angry, because he still does, but it takes something a bit more extreme to send him over the edge. But when he gets angry, he gets angry. His Saiyan blood leaves him with a burning passion for combat, enjoying mocking his foes in battle and killing them off after toying with them. He used to kill for the thrill of it, being responsible for the deaths of millions of people, eradicating a planet's inhabitants until the planet was finally forced to surrender. He once lived under the rule of the Planet Trade Organization, headed by King Cold and his two sons, Frieza and Cooler; whom of which has enslaved Vegeta's entire race to do their bidding. Frieza is in charge of the section of the organization that rules the Saiyans, and treats them as lower class nothings, insulting them and calling them monkeys and eventually destroying them. Because of such Vegeta developed an extreme bitterness, a bitterness that he will live with and combat for the rest of his life. Overtime it does lessen, but it never completely goes away.

However, he's now fully accustomed to Earth life, Vegeta no longer dons his Saiyan attire, but instead is seen wearing western style clothing, oddly enough usually in khaki pants until later in GT where is he portrayed with a sort of 90's style biker outfit. He has also fully settled down with his wife Bulma, and has had two children; a son named Trunks and a daughter named Bulla. There is also a major shift in his priorities from solely living life to train to become the strongest fighter alive to taking care of his family. His relationship with his son and daughter is very close, even though he doesn't display it the best manner all the time, particularly with Trunks. And also, his relationship with his wife Bulma grew into a long standing bond, having been with her and only her at this point in time for over twenty years.

His moral compass is a lot better than it used to be, preferring to keep innocents out of the line of danger. Vegeta however, is not a cop. His line of thinking is more on a planetary scale. He will not go out and save your cat out of a tree, he will tell you to do it yourself. And example of this is when he displays caring for the Earth as a whole, coming up with a plan to move Earth's entire population to the Planet Tuffle before it explodes, helping the Z Fighters move the population to spacecraft and is seen knocking out anyone who refused to leave the planet so that they could be transported as well. He also declares to Super Android 17 that he is the sole protector of the planet and that he came to do this job, insulting the absent Goku while displaying his strong sense of pride, yet concern for the world he lives on. During the fight with Omega Shenron, he joins the battle to help Goku defeat the dragon. Goku tells Omega that if you want good things to happen to you, you have to be good, as Vegeta throws a rock at Omega's head and states, "I would listen to him if I were you, more of than not things that Kakarot says come to pass. But I know that it’s going to take more than talk to change your mind, I had to learn the hard way myself." This reveals that Vegeta also has changed some of his beliefs over time; mostly showing he believes in karma, which is a complete 180 from the Vegeta we see in the beginning of DBZ.

Outside of battle he is a man of few words, and speaks only when he feels he needs to. Early on he is looked down upon because of his rash and ruthless nature, but eventually as time progresses, he becomes more accepted into his newfound family and friends. There is a scene at the end of Z where he is wallflowering at a party held at Bulma's, and Goku sees him there and beckons him over, echoed by the rest of the cast. He is often very serious, but in his later years he can be found making a joke here and there with his family and friends. His sense of humor is very dry and sometimes dark, as per when his wife complains that reporters may be all over her lawn if the Saiyans transform at the World Martial Arts Tournament, and Vegeta responds, "I don't see the problem, when the journalists come I'll just destroy them." He also is seen chuckling quietly while Chi-Chi reams Goku out for leaving her on Planet Tuffle following the Baby Saga. He is surprisingly seen smiling far more often after the Buu Saga ends and throughout GT, a change not usually associated with the Vegeta from earlier in canon.

One of his biggest traits, and the one that defines him the most is his pride. His pride has allowed him to overcome a lot of obstacles that would have otherwise beat down anyone else. He doesn't allow himself to get knocked down and stay down, he'll keep getting back up until it kills him, literally. His pride and mental strength has gone as far as to resist mind control. He works exceptionally hard at just about everything he does; if he feels the challenge is worthwhile he'll rise to it, as he feels a warrior should, and do everything in his power to accomplish the task at hand. However, drawbacks to his pride have led him to be very arrogant and boastful of himself, being demeaning to others and chastising the people around him. He has a very callous nature and thus pushes people away very easily if he so chooses, having the ability to do so in a single sentence if he wants. His arrogance also gets in the way to listening to reasoning sometimes, because he believes he is in charge thus is generally right, and sometimes will be quick to blame others for his mistakes and fight with himself internally later about a failure. He's matured a lot more now however, so this isn't as bad as it used to be either. It also lets opponents get the advantage over him in combat situations, taking advantage of his fiery temper. He's not -easily- tricked into things but he can definitely be fooled or lied to successfully. It's sort of half and half, he can see through some lies but only some. And it's not uncommon for his pride, anger and stubborness to override his sensibility and get himself into situations that he tries to take on by himself that he just simply can't realistically accomplish alone. In these moments, he might keep getting back up to keep going but mentally, he's given in. He thinks he can't win because he believes he's exhausted all options and the mental toll starts to show the more he gets beaten down. That is, until a new opportunity arises, if it does at all, which he'll pick out and recognize and do his best to take advantage of it.

His ability to empathize has grown over the years, but it's still pretty tiny in comparison to most normal people. He just doesn't have the capability to have a lot of empathy for others except in areas that he has personal experience in, and even then- he still wouldn't either show it or care enough in a lot of cases. This is different for close friends but those are very few and far in between outside of his immediate family. He is very slow to trust others; however, if someone did manage to get into that tiny little place in his heart, at this point in his life he becomes a very loyal (but grouchy) friend who wouldn't hesitate to kill anyone that decided to hurt any of his loved ones. Which is something he is afraid of, to a certain extent- losing someone close to him, because at his canon point there is no wishing anyone back from the dead. There are no Dragon Balls, they're gone and won't be back before he dies. And with as much as the Earth gets threatened, that's a legit concern. In turn, he's accepted his own losses from when he was a small boy and is stronger and very independent from it, being one of the few survivors of an almost extinct race. Those losses have become something of the past that he no longer dwells on- in fact he's been known to mention it here and there as if it were mere fact- but has moved forward to make sure the same fate doesn't happen to his own loved ones; he has no problems sacrificing his own life to make sure his family and friends are safe. But if it comes to having to kill someone close to save everyone else he will do it with no qualms, because the needs of the many outweigh the needs of a few. He worries often about not being strong enough, and doesn't want to become soft in times of peace- which is part of the reason why he continues to train as hard as he does.

He is also a tactical master, thinking of almost every conceivable way to outsmart his opponents to stay one step ahead and almost unmatched as a martial artist, living most of his life on the battlefield. Despite his age, he's in pretty good shape since Saiyans retain their youthfulness so they can fight longer, as Vegeta himself states. That and he's not stupid, but he's also not a rocket scientist either- he's got a pretty good grasp on technology, being able to drive a car to using combat medical devices to operating spaceships (he even has an Earth driver's license! Yeah, that's pretty weird but it's true) but a lot of Bulma's inventions need to be explained to him. One thing he comes with however is the experience of age. He's an old geezer now so he's seen everything those whippersnappers have done from raising his own two children. Because let's face it, his childhood is nothing like what we'd call a normal childhood. Common sense is his ally, which thankfully he's got a lot of but there are times where he can be a pretty big derp about something he just doesn't understand or has never seen before. But eventually, he'll figure it out, or someone will pound it into his thick skull.

Personality:

Kakashi at this age is a bit of a jerk. Okay, not nearly as much as he used to be but he hasn’t yet reached the level of playfulness that his older shelf has. The hardness that Kakashi can show stems from the fact that his father was a great shinobi and one that he looked up to. He was revered and feared by many up until the point where he put his team over his mission and it helped lead to a great world-wide war. Sakumo was dishonored and even slandered by the village until he fell into a deep depression and took his own life. The hole it made in Kakashi’s life made him withdraw and become harsh. He lived by the shinobi rules and discarded everything useless in his life – including his own teammates. Kakashi even starting hiding his face with a mask because he looked so much like his father and wanted nothing to do with him.

Because of his coldness and ideals Kakashi never got along with Obito. They were always fighting, with Kakashi always putting the other boy down with harsh words and cold looks. They never quite seemed to see eye-to-eye on matters and it turned them into rivals despite the fact that they were on the same team. Kakashi was always outdoing him and Obito was always left behind trying to catch up. Generally it led to Obito to be frustrated and Kakashi never hesitated to quote rules at him.

Due to the fact that Kakashi lived and breathed the shinobi code, he’s a very skilled shinobi. He was the first on the team to make it to jounin levels, though Kakashi’s attitude often pushed away his teammates when he should have worked together with them. It sort of makes his leadership skills a bit of a failure. Yet it makes him very aware of his surroundings and perceptive as hell. He can sense when there’s danger nearby and react accordingly. Ever since his father’s death, Kakashi has strived to be better than him – to be stronger and a perfect shinobi. Though he ended up lacking when it came down to leading his first mission which led to fatal mistakes. Now his determination to be stronger lies in protecting the people he cares about, so he’ll do everything he can to make sure they stay safe.

However, after losing Rin to the enemy a fight broke out between the two boys and has made Kakashi rethink his attitude. Obito basically told him that those who didn’t care about their teammates were worse than trash. Initially Kakashi turned away and continued on with his mission instead of rescuing his teammate, pushing aside the part of him that was afraid of the past. It wasn’t until he was alone when he remembered how Rin treated his wounds and Obito’s words and it was a huge turning point for him. He abandoned his mission and put his fellow teammates first. He even went so far as to take an injury in order to save Obito from being killed.

In the end it was Obito’s death that caused the biggest change in him, losing a teammate he’d never even been nice to was hard. Especially considering that Obito had sacrificed himself to save Kakashi and then proceeded to give him the undamaged sharigan. Kakashi promised to protect Rin and continued to live on for Obito’s sake. He also started to take on Obito’s ideals and morals, something that can be easily seen in his future when he teaches Team 7 that teammates come first. Though for now, as time went by it’s evident that he takes Obito’s last request very seriously. When Rin was captured he went after her, wanting to protect her even from herself. Yet in the end he failed and she died by his own hand. It was pretty traumatic for him. And now the last of his team has died, his sensei Minato. Yet another person who’s sacrificed themselves for the good of someone else. Needless to say, reuniting with them will be a pretty big deal for Kakashi.

Since Rin’s death, Kakashi has taken on small parts of Obito’s personality. It’s not yet reached the level it is in the future considering he’s still living in hard times but he is late to meetings quite a bit, usually making up a lie to go with it. Generally Kakashi’s late because he stands at the graves of his teammates and loses track of the time talking to them. This is something he does a lot of, just talking about what’s going on. Then because he doesn’t want people to know what he’s doing Kakashi makes up strange lies or uses ones Obito has in the past. He’s also become a bit more tolerable of things that would have annoyed him in the past, such as a fellow shinobi constantly challenging him.

He hasn’t yet completely taken on the happy-go-lucky attitude he has in the future. No, he’s still a bit somber in his daily life though he’s far more tolerable than he was in the past. Plus a lot of the bite and harshness has gone away. It’ll be noticeable to those who knew him when he was a cold jerk that he’s lightened up a bit. Not to mention that he doesn’t quote shinobi rules anymore. However, that doesn’t mean he won’t pick on people in a teasing manner in a flat tone. Change doesn’t happen overnight, after all. He still has a long way to go before he’s the sensei Naruto, Sakura and Sasuke know. Though he does keep things bottled up quite nicely. Kakashi probably won’t talk much about the fact that everyone but him is dead.

There is one thing about him that hasn’t changed though, and that’s his merciless attitude. As a shinobi he’s been trained to kill and he will if that’s his mission. He doesn’t think twice about the fact that he’s taking a life (unless it’s someone he cares about). Any enemy of his should think twice about attacking one of his teammates though. Kakashi is completely ruthless when angered. There was no hesitation in going after the shinobi that killed Obito, no room for forgiveness either. He wouldn’t be stopped in his vengeance, not even when his blade snapped in half. Basically, don’t mess with his team and everything will be fine.

When he arrives in Route there will be so much more added guilt on Kakashi’s shoulders. Not only is he suddenly faced with his entire dead teammates but facing Obito after failing to protect Rin will pile on more. He’ll be reluctant to talk about it, with anyone, and probably never want to tell Obito. Plus Kakashi has yet to actually deal with the fact that his sensei and sensei’s wife just died so there’s going to be a whole chunk of denial about that particular issue. Kakashi is not the sort to shed tears though Obito’s eye has betrayed him in the past on that.

Strengths/Weaknesses:

◆ As a shinobi Kakashi has stealth skills.
◆ He's been trained in hand-to-hand combat along with kunai, shurikens and short swords.
◆ His strength and agility are also far better than a normal 14 year old.
◆ Kakashi has intelligence, skill and aptitude. He graduated the Academy at five years old after only a year and joined his team. He became a Chunin a year after joining the team and was also the first out of his teammates to become a Jounin. That means he's capable of leading his team. (Though honestly, both of his teammates died when he was in charge.)
◆ Perceptive. Even without the use of the Sharigan, Kakashi was always able to detect when trouble was near.
◆ Determined. Kakashi is always looking to strengthen himself. It's important in attempting to protect the ones he cares about
◆ Survivor. Not only has Kakashi survived the deaths of his entire team, he survived a war. While he may not exactly be happy about it he lives on.
◆ Creative. Only maybe not so much anymore. He created a new jutsu called the Chidori and later the Raikiri. This shows that he had some level of creativity before he became known as the Copy Ninja.
◆ Obito. Okay so maybe a few would think that Obito is kind of a weakness because he's a derp but actually, he kind of brought out the best in Kakashi. He made Kakashi start thinking about his feelings and abandon his previous way of thinking that emotions are unnecessary baggage. Since Obito's death, he's far more focused on saving/helping his teammates now and loosened up a little.
◆ Loosened up some. He used to be such a stick-in-the-mud, always reciting rules and putting Obito down. While he'll still poke fun at Obito's expense (and possibly others), there won't be nearly as much malice in it.
◆ His mask. It's something Kakashi wears a lot of the time. It's great for hiding a good chunk of his face and can give him an excellent poker face. Also, great material for poking fun at people who want to see under it.
◆ First-aid training. He can tend to minor wounds with a first-aid like kit. Though Kakashi generally left the healing to Rin.

◈ Teammates.
They're Kakashi's biggest strength and weakness. He finally learned what it meant to be a teammate, accepted that it was okay to put them before the mission and what do they do? They up and die on him. ALL OF THEM. In about a year span. Obviously he'll be overprotective of all of them which could be considered a great weakness - especially in the shinobi world.
◈ His father.
When Kakashi's father committed suicide due to the ridicule of choosing to save his teammates instead of completing his mission, it set Kakashi on the path to pushing away everything that was unnecessary. It made him a bit of a jerk, to be honest. He's slowly getting away from that but Konoha wasn't built in a day.
◈ His eyes.
Under normal circumstances Kakashi's left eye is a great help to him thanks to the fact that he implanted Obito's Sharigan in it. While he'll still be able to use it to see, it'll lose it's special abilities to let him see chakra. Also, he covers it a lot (due to the fact that overuse can tire him out), which means he has to compensate for the lack of full peripheral vision. It'll be a little weird adjusting to both these things and thus a weakness. Note: His left eye will look like a sharigan (because it never changes back to normal) but will be useless except to see with.
◈ Gai.
Kakashi's long-time rival. Or something. Gai seems to think that he needs to beat Kakashi so he's constantly challenging him. Kakashi acts aloof about the whole thing but agrees in the end. Actually, this is a bonding experience for them. It builds trust and camaraderie.

◇ Guilt. OMG so much guilt you can't even begin to understand. Guilt for killing Rin, for not saving Obito & Minato, for breaking his promise to Obito.
◇ Lots of repressed emotions and memories. How could he not when he saw his two teammates die (killed one of them) and just got news of his Minato and Kushina's death too. He won't want to talk about it.
◇ Still has that harsh attitude as a defense mechanism. He hasn't yet completely transitioned over to being more Obito-like.
◇ Tardiness and lying. That is one thing he's sort of gotten from Obito, always being late and having a story to go with it. Except while Obito was actually sometimes helping little old ladies across town, Kakashi spends every morning talking to Rin and Obito's grave. He tends to lose track of time when he does this.
◇ Porn addiction. Okay, maybe not yet but give it a few years and it will be. He'll become so obsessed with Icha Icha series that even Naruto could use spoilers to make older-Kakashi lose a fight.
◇ It might be a little hard for him to form deep bonds. After the losses he's suffered he'll be a bit hesitant at first but he'll come around eventually.

[Congratulations, Citizens of the Pokemon World. There is a video of a white haired teenage boy wearing a mask over the lower portion of his face but it doesn't stop with that. He also has a dark blue headband pulled down over his left eye. Behind him are the clear signs of trees and open wilderness and in his hand is the paper map.]

What can you tell me about the Gym Leaders in Johto?

Their strengths, weaknesses, how tough you found them to be when you fought them. Anything about your fight with them. I'm attempting to map out our journey but as it turns out my teammate is completely useless on this matter. [The words sound like they should be cruel but they lack bite.]

So the more information, the better.

Third Person Sample:

As if the weird woman calling herself 'mom', the green dog and the music wasn't strange enough, Kakashi also couldn't see through this genjutsu. His left eye wasn't working the way it should - the way it had since the day he'd gotten it. So he pulled of his hitae-ai and used it's reflective surface to look at it. The sharigan still swirled, red with black tomoe. Obito's eye looked like it had the last time Kakashi looked at it so why wasn't it working. He replaces his hitae-ai, pulling it low over his left eye to hide the mismatched eyes and scar. Maybe there would be someone here he could ask.

Time to dig through his bag and see what sort of supplies he had. A pair of clothes, an odd device that could serve as communication, some necessities, food and more importantly - papers. Papers meant information. There was a map and information about being a trainer. He supposed that's why the dog had followed him away from the house as he packed everything back up except for the papers and the communication device. It didn't escape his notice that his weapons were gone. Looks like he really will have to depend on the animal for protection until he could find replacements.

Kakashi stopped to look down at the dog and the dog looked back. "So what am I going to name you?"

The dog sat back on his haunches and wagged his tail in the dirt. In response the ninja crossed his arms over his chest. "What can you do?"

"Electrike!" Well, that was a weird response. Kakashi pointed his communication device at him and he tensed a little when it started talking. He listened to it closely though. "So you're an electric-type Pokemon. I've got just the name for you then. From now on you're going to be Chidori."

It jumped up, putting both front feet on Kakashi's leg and licking his hand enthusiastically. He pushed it down with a stern no. If he was supposed to train this thing then it would not jump on people unless invited. He started toward the road, intent on getting underway as there wasn't much point to sticking around here. "Let's go see if there's anyone we know here, Chidori. And keep quiet about it, now's a good time to learn stealth."

As soon as the words were out of his mouth Kakashi grew tense. There wasn't really anyone left to seek out. Not now that sensei had joined the rest of the team in the afterlife. Sure there was Guy and several others but no teammates. Maybe it was best if he just stuck it out on his own at this point. Yeah, that's what he'd do.

Character
Name: Jin
Series: Yu Yu Hakusho
Timeline: After waking up in the infirmary after the fight with Team Urameshi
Canon Resource Links: The YYH wiki

Personality: Jin is a lot like the element that he controls, in that he is a very carefree and high-spirited demon. At most times, he is like a pleasant summer's breeze, lighthearted and cheerful and bringing a smile to almost everyone's face. He's a clownish character, silly and impetuous, who at first glance seems to just be lighthearted fluff. Comic relief in the middle of a very tense part of the Dark Tournament. He even serves as this to the main character, Yusuke, by making him laugh before they even begin fighting because he doesn't believe in entering a fight angry.

But in that, there's more under his red mop of hair than meets the eye. He proves himself to be a strategist, extremely talented not at plotting out the far-reaching victory plans but at thinking on his feet. The best example of this would be when Yusuke decided to wait until Jin got close enough that he wouldn't be able to deflect a blow from his Spirit Gun, and fire it into the center of Jin's Tornado Fist. Jin saw the attack coming and, rather than just shielding himself and leaving Yusuke to be blown up, he tilted the windstream upward so that both of them would live. He is incredibly adept at using his element to his advantage, allowing for quick escapes from what would otherwise be almost certain death.

He was trained as a ninja, an elite member of his shinobi sect. He is the second most powerful member of Team Masho, second only to their leader Risho. He is also the most straightforward fighter on their team, not relying on any gimmicks like Gama's paint, Bakken's sweat, or Risho's armor. The way that he manipulates his element is more natural than it is a purposefully-executed tactic in battle. In fact, he holds his teammate Bakken (the most cowardly member of the team) in great disdain, meaning that he possesses his own code of honor which, while allowing him to spend his life as a shinobi and an assassin, also keeps his fighting fair and friendly.

It’s implied in an exchange with Bakken that this honor code doesn’t always gel with the rest of the shinobi ideals either, which, given how much being a ninja would necessarily focus on fighting from the shadows, there’s something other than that that keeps Jin in the sect. When the cloaked Team Masho steps into the ring against Team Urameshi, they state that the one who comes forward to fight first will be considered the de-facto leader of the team, and with that Jin is the one who steps forward, intrigued by the wind around Yusuke, to establish the rules for the match. But when the tournament committee renders Hiei and The Masked Fighter ineligible, effectively making the match 5 against 2, Jin proceeds to nope right on out of the arena on the grounds that he doesn’t want to even participate in such an unfair match.

Part of his personality is that he loves a good fight. The only reason why he cared who won or lost in his fight with Yusuke was because they were in a tournament, and he needed to win for his team to advance (he didn't, but that's beside the point). He enjoys himself in combat, whether he's winning or losing, and he always throws himself 110% into a match. It’s stated in canon (although not proven, because he was fighting a Shonen Hero) that Jin never loses when he's having fun.

The reason why he (as well as the rest of the shinobi) are fighting in the Dark Tournament is because they want to seek their freedom, to be able to take their place in the light instead of the shadows. Jin himself relishes the fresh air of the human world and is willing to fight to keep his place in it. He is determined when presented with a goal, fair, honorable, straightforward, and above all cheerful and free-spirited. His code of honor includes never going into a fight angry and, above winning or losing, making sure that he has fun in a fight.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
+ Cleverness/wisdom – One of Jin’s strengths as a Shinobi is that, even though he may play the fool, he can be more profound than most would give him credit for. His personal philosophy regarding not going into a fight angry may be simple, but he believes in it with enough conviction that he’s willing to make his opponent laugh before a match to make sure that they’re both going to have a good time.

+ Intuition/adaptability – Given his close-combat style, in order to have survived for as long as he has both in his hazardous job and in the demon world at all, he has to be able to read his opponents in battle. This is exhibited in his fight against Yusuke, when he’s clever enough to act to save both of their lives instead of either falling for an admittedly transparent trick, or protecting himself and letting Yusuke die.

+ Fighting skill – He can hit things. His training in the shinobi has left him very capable of using his element for offense, although without it he will still be able to perform martial arts.

+ Determination – He was able to survive a fall from hundreds if not thousands of feet into the stone arena and get up afterward, just from sheer determination to continue the fight. That was where his strength gave out on him, but he actually managed to stand up after that, which is a feat in and of itself.

+ Honor – Jin has a very particular sense of honor. He expected to get a fair fight when he took the role as Team Masho’s de facto leader, and when the Tournament Committee set it up instead to be a five-on-two slaughterfest, he opted out, grumpily stating that he’d rather play lookout than fight in such a match. It’s not until the match is a much fairer two-on-one that he takes interest again.

+/- Candor – This is one boyo who will tell it like it is. He doesn’t candy-coat things, and he’s an open book when it comes to lying. Deceit doesn’t cross his mind at all. When he’s unhappy with you, he will definitely let you know it, and probably in no small amount of words or breath.

+/- Carefree – There’s not much that bothers Jin long-term. His attitude is one of overall transience – he doesn’t really feel the need to hang onto one concrete feeling or another for too long. He can grouch over the unfairness of the match and scare the pants off his teammate one minute, and the next be whistling happy as anything. This can come across as flippancy to someone who either doesn’t know him or doesn’t ‘get’ him, but at the same time it’s a good thing because it means that he doesn’t stay grumpy or sad too long.

- Cockiness – While he’s well-meaning overall, Jin can come across as moderately cocksure, particularly when it’s his own skills being tested. He’s a bit of a braggart, but it’s all in good fun (“Don’t be lookin’ all wide-eyed, any attack has to go through the air t’get t’me, and I control the air, so ye might as well hand it over and say ‘Do whatever ye want with ‘em, Jin!’ HAHAHAHAHA ‘Do whatever ye want with ‘em, Jin!’”

- Volume – Another possible negative point against Jin’s shining personality is the fact that he has no volume control. At all. Apparently, neither the roaring wind nor his own yelling bother the sensitive hearing that is implied to come with his fully-extended ears.

- Lack of book smarts – Jin is sort of the textbook example of a character who is colloquially known as “High wis, low int”. And what’s worse is that he brags about it, proclaiming that he hasn’t ever learned anything useful that someone else tried to teach him.

Third Person Sample:

The first thing that he noticed on waking was how heavy he felt – an all over weight like he had gained a couple stone, and even though it felt like it was pressing the breath out of him in those first couple panicked moments, he had known enough reason to truly panic in his lifetime, with his dangerous occupation, that he knew psychosomatic terror when he felt it. A couple of deep breaths assured him that there was nothing physical impinging on his breathing, and with that settled he sighed in relief, sitting up.

Which was when he noticed that the dull, all-over ache of healing bones and screaming tired muscles was also completely gone. The searing pain in his shoulder arcing down from his collarbone, the throb of several broken and bruised ribs, all of that was gone.

“Musta been out fer a good couple’a days,” he muttered to himself, scratching at the back of his head through the untamed mop of scarlet hair. He opened his eyes and looked around. “Wait a tick, this ain’t the infirmary. And where’s me wind?” Cold panic seized over him like a wave, blue eyes wild and on edge as he got out of bed like he’d been burned, checking over his body for any other missing limbs. Everything was accounted for – he was even still in his normal clothes, bracers and foot wraps and all, but when he tried to put out feelers to sense the wind, to speak to the air around him, he came back empty-handed. A wind master without his wind?

It was confusing, worrying, and just plain wrong.

In his stampeding around the room like a crazy person, he tripped over a backpack sitting unassumingly on the floor, sending its contents tumbling from the unzipped pocket. Out of curiosity, he bent down and picked up a small note.

Don’t forget to pack your clean underwear! –Mom

“Clean underw—?” Jin looked from the note down at his pants, and then peeled out the waistband of his pants and craned his head back so he could peer down into them. Brows furrowed, he shook his head in confusion and tossed the note over his shoulder, squatting on the floor next to the backpack so he could set it upright and rifle through it. There were a bunch of red and white balls loose in there, so in order to make room to continue looking through more interesting things, he tossed them over his shoulder after a cursory examination.

Which of course meant that he missed the flash of white light, and between the noise of him rifling around and muttering to himself, he missed the quiet flap of wings. What he didn’t miss, however, was the solid weight of something landing in the mess of red hair on top of his head.

“What the—?!” A bird peered down at him. “Now how’d ye be gettin’ up there, ye wee little shit?”

“How’d ye be gettin’ up there, ye wee little shit?” the bird parroted back, in an exact mimicry of Jin’s voice. The wind master blinked. The bird blinked. Finally, Jin burst out into uproarious laughter.

“What a fancy trick that be! Finally, someone be speakin’ me language! Hello there friend, the name’s Jin! Now what ought I be callin’ ye?” The bird didn’t answer. “Guess that means I get t’come up with it me own self? Alrighty then!” he put on his Deep Thinking face. “How about ‘Hanebanashi*’! Since ye sound like me and all, but yer a bird.”

“Hanebanashi!” the bird repeated, still in Jin’s voice, causing him to laugh again.

“I’ll take that t’mean yer mighty fond o’ it, then! Hanebanashi it is!”

Character
Name: Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel
Series: Marvel 616
Timeline: Right after she gets back from the time-traveling plane shenanigans
Canon Resource Links: Here we are!

Personality:
Carol is an incredibly strong individual, both physically and mentally. Growing up she had to fight to be recognized as equal to her brothers by her father, and that determination carried over into her adult life. When her father decided to send her brother to college instead of her (even though her performance in school was better) she bided her time until she turned 18 and was able to join the Air Force to help her pay her way through school. Carol’s natural intelligence and insane levels of determination meant she not only excelled at school and also swiftly rose through the ranks of the military. Her talents were such that she caught the eye of the CIA who recruited her. It was in both the Air Force and the CIA that she received the training that made her such a formidable super. She has been able to hold her own against even the Black Widow (long before she had obtained any superhuman powers), and even held off a Skrull invasion from taking Manhattan all by herself (after obtaining super powers).

Carol has many jobs over the years: NASA’s youngest head of security, leader of at least one group of Avengers, writer, head editor for a woman’s magazine, ace pilot for the X-men, spy, and many more jobs through her youth. She excelled at all of them. During her time at NASA she ended up in the middle of a conflict between two Kree warriors who were fighting over a weaponized wishing machine. When the machine exploded it turned Carol’s wishes to be helpful and her strong will into power, giving her the powers of the Kree who was protecting her.

The circumstances with which she was brought to the spotlight showcase some of her personality. For a while after she was introduced she stayed a background character. Then in the late 1970s Marvel decided they needed a strong female super hero to represent the “modern woman”. The writers thought Carol was perfect for the role and wrote the storyline where she received her powers. In her different runs she is always portrayed as very independent, very rarely having a love interest.

Carol's compassion and strong sense of justice mean that while she is a powerful combatant, she is also merciful. This is never more aptly demonstrated than when she faces off against Mystique, the woman who killed her boyfriend, turned Rogue against her, and targeted her when she was weakened. Though she does enjoy punching things she is not needlessly violent. Later on another Carol from an alternate universe (who was using the codename Warbird) made her way to the main continuity's earth (Earth-616) Warbird was incredibly hostile, something Carol found disdainful.

Her past is not without its due level of comic-grade trouble, each taking its toll on her. First was the brutal murder of her boyfriend. Then shortly after that a series of strange events lands her trapped in Limbo. Using her ingenuity and intellect she manages to Macgyver her way back to Earth using what little technology was left behind by the man that had lured her there. Shortly after she made it back to Earth Carol lost not only her powers but also many of her memories in a fight with the mutant Rouge. Her memories were restored by Professor X, but her powers could not be, nor the emotional attachments to her memories. During her time as the X-Men’s pilot she was captured by and alien race and experimented on. She was saved by the X-Men, but some of the experiments had taken effect. She attained the power to channel the energy of a white hole, giving her near god-like power level. She regained all of her previously lost abilities, as well as some new powers (namely energy absorption and projection, minor molecular control). This did not last forever though as eventually the white hole closed, leaving her with her with all her powers, but severely decreased power level.

All of this came crashing onto Carol all at once when her Binary powers left her. With her restored powers came all of the emotions Professor X had been unable to give her. Her independence back-fired on her. Instead of seeking help she turned to alcohol to numb the pain she was feeling and quickly spiraled into alcoholism. After going on several missions intoxicated and making many mistakes while under the influence the Avengers had no choice but to kick her out. This prompted Carol to do some serious soul searching. Finally swallowing her pride she got the help she needed and was able to get cleaned up. After a while off the team she was offered her old spot back. She eventually left the Avengers again to go work with SHIELD and the Department of Defense, showing her willingness to go where she was needed rather than where was most comfortable. During her time at SHIELD and the DoD her lengthy resume, history in handling supervillains, and general no-nonsense attitude landed her the job of one of the Thunderbolts’ parole officer.

She did join the pro-registration side of Marvel’s Civil War out of loyalty to the American government and her good friend Tony Stark (who was heading the pro-registration movement). Her loyalty was tested when her friend was found to be a spy from the Anti-Registration movement. Carol stayed true to her personal convictions and attempted to bring her in (even though she was unsuccessful).

After the Skrull invasion she was given the choice to either join a new group of corrupt Avengers (comprised of mostly supervillians disguised as heros) under Norman Osborn’s replacement for SHIELD or become a fugitive. She refused to compromise her own moral standing to join and went into hiding with the other Avengers. Osborn replaced her when events lead most to believe she died, but Carol defeated the imposter rather easily reclaiming her title from someone who most perceived to be her equal. This went to show many that Carol’s powers are still evolving, and that she grows stronger as time goes on.
After the Phoenix was dealt with Carol got back to a semi-normal life of superheroing. After one particular battle Captain America urged her to take on the Captain Marvel name. She was hesitant at first, not wanting to replace or disrespect the memory of Mar-Vell. After reassurance from Captain America she decided to take the name.

The most recent series Carol stars in, Captain Marvel, we get to see a lot more of Carol when she’s not in super-hero mode. We see her at home with her cat, Chewie (named after Chewbacca), we see her living in her own apartment, being friends with the neighbor lady and her small girl. We see her sitting with an old lady in the park who keeps calling her Captain America (she remembers eventually). The Captain Marvel series lets us see another side to Carol that isn’t looked at when you spend issues upon issues of nothing but her in battle. We also see that her independence and determination has not died down over the years when her doctor diagnoses her with a dangerous brain lesion and orders her not to fly. She, once more, does not ask for help, but luckily her fellow Avengers know when best to step in. She reluctantly uses the flying motorcycle thing Captain America brings her, but declines his offer for anymore help. When her loved ones are threatened by an old foe she does put her pride aside and calls in help keeping them safe.

Carol Danvers is a head-strong, intelligent, independent woman who don’t need no man who has, and will continue to push through all of the challenges that are thrown her way. Time and time again she proved herself in every aspect, not only as a super hero, but also as one of the best people you could ever meet.

Seriously? Pokémon? I’m taken in my sleep to some alternate dimension and the big bad behind it can’t come up with anything more sinister than Pokémon?
[Carol isn’t pleased or impressed by your kidnapping of her, whoever you are. There is a Taillow currently flying around in the background of the shot. Carol’s ignoring that for now.]
I’m in a generous mood today, so here’s some tips to help you next time you try to capture someone and make them believe they’re part of a video game.
One: If you put in someone pretending to be my mom, make sure she at least looks like she could be my mother. [the video shifts over quickly to Mom, who is standing in the doorway whose cheerful offer of cookies is cut off by the video moving back to Carol.] Seriously? Did she have me when she was ten?
Two: The bird’s cute [As if on cue the Taillow lands on Carol’s shoulder and chirps happily] but you can’t sway me with cute animals that I assume will battle other cute animals on command.
And finally-[Carol’s face hardens. She brings the gear very close to her face as if to heighten the effect] taking my powers doesn’t cripple me. I will find you, and I will take you down. So I suggest you give me back my powers before I get any madder.

Third Person Sample:
It didn’t take Carol long to get settled into a rhythm.
She still wasn’t sure if that was a good thing or not.
Every morning she would get up early and work out using whatever the forest or town she was in. She wasn’t born with enhanced abilities, but they’d become so second nature to her that she felt sluggish and weak without them. It drove her crazy that she couldn’t do pushups all day or run for miles upon miles.
Or fly, of course, but that lose opened a whole other can of worms that Carol just didn’t like to think about. Having flying Pokémon helped some, and she was grateful for them, but she would still prefer to fly under her own power.
Probably what bugged her more than losing her powers was the fact that losing them was bothering her so much. Had she really become that reliant on them? It wasn’t like she hadn’t lost them before, but that seemed different somehow than what she was going through now. Some days she’d get thinking about it too much and her Taillow, Helen, would do her best to comfort her. The second or third time this happened Carol realized how pathetic she was being. So she started working out more in the morning. She might not be able to get her full abilities back, but she could at least get stronger. She didn’t need to lift a semi-truck to help people. She had her Pokémon for that.
Learning to rely on them was another thing that she had trouble with, especially at the beginning. Enough people she already trusted told her what they could do, but for the longest time she continued trying to do everything herself. It was only when Helen started pulling at her hair whenever she would try to do something by herself that she relented and let the Pokémon take over. Now they felt as much a part of her as her abilities had.
She had even begun teaching them some of the non-verbal commands she learned either from basic training or from her fellow Avengers. This came in less handy during battles, as whichever of her companions would have to be watching their opponent, and more useful in instances such as this where Carol is doing her morning workout, using a low branch of a nearby tree for pull ups, when she hears something rustling in the bushes.
Softly she calls for Helen and signals for the Taillow to dive at the bush in question, hoping to flush out whatever it was.

Character
Name: Tifa Lockhart
Series: Final Fantasy VII
Timeline: Original Game: The day before the fight against Sephiroth, after everyone has gone their separate ways.
Canon Resource Links: [Loveless] and a Wikia

Personality: A motherly woman, who cares about everyone around her. Mama bear is a good way to describe her, really. Warm and kind one minute but if you hurt her loved ones, watch out! She can be a tad bit overprotective. She's very giving and will easily sacrifice everything she has to make others happy. Tifa's trust isn't something given, it's earned. But when you have it, she trusts you with her life. When one become important enough to her that she legitimately trusts them, she's willing to give her soul and mind for that person. Which is actually saying a lot considering she's very willing to help strangers out as well. It's just a bigger step when one becomes someone she can call a friend. She's very self-sacrificing and will put herself in danger's way in order to protect her loved ones. She's not one to back down from a fight and this is especially true if she's defending someone. She's also very stubborn, when she believes her way is the right way, don't expect her to just back down. If you're not going to see it her way, then she's better off without you. Or she'll at least try to make you see it her way. Unless of course, you're a very close friend. Then she becomes a lot more open minded. She has a horrible habit of taking care of everyone but herself.

The girl has quite a lot of patience, even for (some) of her enemies. She'll sit and listen to someone's life story for however long they need her for because she believes people deserve at least that, a lending ear. A shoulder to cry, a lap to sleep on. Well...ok maybe not her lap. But she'll help however she can. It comes with working as a bartender in the slums of Midgar for three years. When you're on the receiving end of life stories from people hoping to drink their worries away into oblivion, you realize you can sit through just about anything. Just about. Sure she's patient, but even Tifa Lockhart has a stopping point and when it hits, don't expect her to just sit and take it. She'll try to politely work through the issue at first, but when the doesn't work, Tifa isn't about being rude and blunt if she needs to. She's never really had any problem with telling someone to get out of her face before, and she doesn't now. Tifa also isn't beyond getting physical if need be. Though, usually for issues like this, it's her last resort.

The glue that keeps her ragtag group together, Tifa likes to joke around and keep the atmosphere light around her friends. She'll easily sit down and have a beer or play a game of cards with her friends. Despite being a fairly quiet young lady, Tifa can be rather crude when need be and hell, impulsive too. In one instance she jumped at the chance to be able to squeeze any information from Don Corneo, so desperate was she that, without a second thought, she dressed herself up and off she went to try to seduce the information out of the creep.

Although Tifa is a little rough around the edges and not the most dainty of girls, she's actually pretty shy and will clam up when it comes to her personal...romantic feelings on people. She's also not one to divulge information about herself and her past so readily. When Tifa is nervous or thinking she usually pushes a strand of her long her away from her face and behind her ear. She almost always has a smile on her face which seems to be mysteriously contagious. She tends to stand up straight, leading with her chest as she gives off an air of pride in herself. When talking to small children or animals, Tifa lowers her self to be at the same level as them as she likes to give respect to just about anyone she meets. While Tifa takes great pride in who she is, she never thinks of other people as 'lower' than herself. She prefers to think of everyone on the same level, albeit that changes if one gets on her bad side, though that takes effort.

Throughout the years, young miss Lockhart never lost her touch with her martial arts. She'd constantly train, getting ready in case she was needed for some sort of mission or to protect her home and loved ones. Lo and behold, the time came and she's jumped in, fists a-blazin'. She's a technical pacifist and would rather resolve a problem with her words, but will quickly get into a fighting position when that doesn't work. Unless your name is ShinRa, in which case you better have a helmet and a weapon because she's pissed and wants to punch you in the face. Or Sephiroth, in which case....if looks could kill...

Strengths/Weaknesses:
Strengths
• Excellent martial artist as she's able to save the planet....thrice. (Although she hasn't saved it yet in her timeline)
• High stamina
• Quite an wonderful cook. Well, you learn how to do that pretty quickly when your mother dies when you're 8.
• Some medical/first aid knowledge. Particularly sicknesses. Comes in handy when you take care of a 4 year old.
• Physically strong, seeing as she can knock out a guy three times her size.
• She's a very good navigator as she can remember places and how to get there, she'd probably be able to draw maps if need be

Weaknesses
• A bit hotheaded
• Stubborn
• Headstrong
• Tends to get into difficult situations via forgetting to worry/take care of herself because she's too busy thinking about everyone else.
• Curious (this can sometimes be a weaknesses, sometimes a strength. It really just depends)
• Cloud. She has a very soft spot for her childhood...neighbor.
• Children. Another soft spot. She's a mom by nature, she can't help it.
• Nightmares dealing with Nibelheim and anything to do with her hometown and parents, really. It's a sore spot for her.

[Hello Routians! There's a pretty, young Tifa looking at the 'gear.]

You know, as much as I like pokémon, I don't really think I need two of them following me wherever I go. [She turns the camera towards a Caterpie and Weedle who suddenly stop and stare at the 'gear.]

I'm not sure if I'm supposed to capture them or just let them follow me around. At first I thought we were just headed in the same direction but it's been 8 hours. Though they don't get any closer than this. [They're about eight feet away.] Hello! [The little bug pokémon just stare and Tifa sighs before turning the 'gear to her again. She shrugs.]

I guess I'll just let them do whatever they wa--Johnny! [Suddenly the feed is shaky and one can kinda see a Cubone running towards the bug duo with his bone at the ready.]

Johnny be nice, Johnny! [Scolding mommy tone is a-go!]

Third Person Sample:
Truth be told, this was the last place she expected to turn up in. It'd been...how many years? Five? Yeah, it was five. She was only fifteen when she first arrived at the strange pokéworld. Well, five years for her at least. She remember how time moved in a strange manner here. She remembered how every single time Cloud reappeared, he never remembered his time here before. But somehow...she did. Looking down at the pokéball in her hand, she wondered how long it'd been for everyone else. If anyone else was even still around? Suddenly panic filled Tifa, what if everyone was gone? They were slowly disappearing last she remembered. It'd been a long time and Tifa dismissed it as some strange dream, but she remembered having friends. She remembered Cissnei and America and Cecil and she remembered Cloud and Zack and---

Oh gods, Aerith. She'd been friends with Aerith. That gave a small pang in heart. She'd befriended the flower girl when they were young. Tifa blinked back the tears filling her eyes at the thought of the older girl's lifeless body in the Forgotten City. Maybe...maybe she came back? Maybe she'd be given another chance to befriend Aerith in a much more pleasant setting where they could travel around this fun place and play with pokémon. The young martial artist let out a breath she didn't even she was holding as she looked up at some fluffy clouds floating lazily in the sky. It was a nice day. She didn't realize just how much she'd missed this place. It was calm and hardly anything bad happened. There was no need to worry about Sephiroth or ShinRa or Meteor.

Turning her attention back to the pokéball in her hand, Tifa released whatever was waiting for her inside. To her surprise it was a little Cubone who looked up at her with large watery eyes. Two seconds later, said Cubone was clinging onto her leg, crying his eyes out.

"Oh my." Tifa bent down, picking up the little animal as she stood back up, "Hello there, Johnny. It's good to see you, too!" The Cubone continued it's crying and Tifa chuckled a bit, holding her partner close. She missed him too, the little crybaby.

"I'm back. Lets go back to exploring, shall we?" She kissed the top of Johnny's head and then grinned when the Cubone stopped it's crying. "Time to make up for the time I've been gone, eh?" She winked and determinedly started walking forward. A sudden thought crossed her mind, and Tifa began digging around for her PokéGear. She might as well see if anyone was still around.

Character
Name: Calvin
Series: Calvin and Hobbes
Timeline: after the comic ends ("let's go exploring!")
Canon Resource Links: Wikia

Personality:

Calvin is a 6 year old boy living in a typical American suburb in the 80's with a mom, a dad, and his best friend, a stuffed tiger named Hobbes. To say that he can be "a bit much" sometimes would be an understatement. Calvin is loud, proud (sometimes for no discernible reason), and in your face... and perhaps a tad too precocious for someone so young. His favored humor edges more often toward the macabre than anything else.

Calvin is an incredibly impulsive boy. While he is more than capable of rational thought, and does so quite often concerning more metaphysical topics, Calvin's typical Modus Operandi in life is to leap before he looks. If he has any interest in doing something, he doesn't consider the potential results of whatever task he happens to be undertaking and simply does it. For this reason, Calvin is often quick to find himself in trouble. He isn't really one for regret though, either.

Another reason Calvin often finds himself in trouble is his distinct lack of respect for authority. He is constantly undermining his parents and doesn't keep quiet whenever he disagrees with a decision they make; which is basically all the time.  Calvin will go to extreme lengths to "fight the power", as it were.

His rebellious nature and anti-authority stance doesn't just apply to his parents. In fact, Calvin typically shows even less respect for temporary figures of authority such as his teachers and principal, or his babysitter, Rosalyn. He doesn't like rules, especially ones he had no say in, and at one time demanded to know why "life is never fair in my favor".

However, while Calvin talks big, and may resort to passive aggressive messages through snowman medium, he is in no way, shape or form a violent child. In fact, when faced with a school bully, Calvin chooses to combat him with words, rather than fists. Calvin is far more likely to hurt himself through thoughtless and impulsive actions than he is to hurt another person our of anger.

Calvin is undeniably mischievous. He loves playing tricks and pranks on people and will go to elaborate lengths sometimes to do so. Even his parents aren't safe from him.

One of his favorite victims, and probably the only person his age that Calvin is even remotely close to, is Susie Derkins. While the two appear to be constantly at war with each other, there is no denying that there is an element of schoolyard pigtail pulling at play between the two of them. Susie is the only person besides Hobbes that Calvin plays with regularly.

While Calvin is certainly a bold child, he is in no way fearless. Calvin has many fears and nightmares about monsters living under his bed. He has on several occasions mistaken his father, mother, and Hobbes as monsters and has deep and genuine fears that they will eat him. He combats these fears pro-actively by arming himself with nerf-guns or a baseball bat and preparing for war. His fascination with the macabre outside of these instances is more than likely a way of allowing himself to control the situation in his own mind.

Calvin exhibits little to no interest in school on any given day, but can often be found contemplating deep philosophical concepts, including where we go when we die and predestination. While the argument can be made one way or the other about whether Calvin is book smart, there is no denying that he is highly intelligent, often speaking with an elevated vocabulary and concerning subjects that even adults are sometimes hesitant to address. He's also a big fan of irony.

"Normal" may be something difficult to accurate define, but whatever it is, Calvin isn't. Calvin is a study in contradictions. He loves trashy slasher movies, but discusses philosophy with his stuffed tiger Hobbes. He loves watching television, but if tempted outside can while a whole day away with only his imagination  and maybe a beat up little red wagon for company. He claims to want more friends, but feels that people are jerks and makes no actual attempts to befriend anyone himself.

In the end, it's necessary to make the distinction that Calvin is not unmotivated, but self motivated. When it comes to things that Calvin is interested in, he will go to extreme and creative lengths, but he falls significantly short of caring about anything he's not personally invested in.

Perhaps the most noteworthy things about Calvin is his imagination, which is overactive and exuberant. He spends most of his days half living in a fantasy world, perhaps best qualified by the fact that his best friend is his stuffed tiger, for whom he imagines a distinct and individual personality and goes on grand adventures with.

Calvin has also imagined himself in any number of fantastical storylines, but his three most prevalent "alter-identities" are: Tracer Bullet, a Noir Detective;

Spaceman Spiff, an intrepid space explorer who fights aliens, which are often portrayed by the school staff;

and Stupendous Man, a less than impressive superhero who takes his tests for him and gets stuck in the school lockers.

Strengths/Weaknesses: Calvin's biggest strength is undeniably his imagination. There are no limits to his imagination. However this could also be considered a detriment, as it more often than not results in Calvin failing to interact reliably with reality. Reality and Calvin are not friends.

He's highly unmotivated with things like schoolwork or chores, but incredibly self-motivated when it comes to anything he personally finds interesting. As a result, while he doesn't do well in school Calvin is actually an intelligent and articulate boy, prone to philosophical debate with Hobbes.

Calvin has very poor social skills. He has trouble making friends, or being involved in any sort of organization such as sports or cub scouts. He's also highly impulsive and rarely bothers to think things through before he does them.

He has an undeniable artistic talent, best portrayed by the unique snowmen he makes in the Winter.

[Calvin is squinting down at his Pokedex, in particular at the Happy Birthday message he just received. More than finding himself in a strange new world with a strange new mom, this message seems to bother him most of all.] ... I don't get it. How did I just turn 10 when I was 6 before this?

[A loud thudding sound just out of sight has Calvin looking up and away and for a moment, his face is so blank that he can only be rebooting. In the next heartbeat though his expression turns indescribable. It's like Christmas and his birthday both happened at the same time. Or, I guess, like four birthdays happened all at once.]

IT'S A DINOSAUR!

[With a gleeful shout Calvin throws himself at a placid looking Tropius, which for someone as short as Calvin, might as well be the size of a Brontosaurus. Sure it looks a little weird, but he's not going to be picky when it's a real actual dinosaur, okay.] Oh man Hobbes is going to be so jealous.

[But he doesn't care. Because dinosaur. Pokemon adventure? What Pokemon adventure?]

Third Person Sample: The downside, Calvin decided, to having such a rich and original imagination as he did, was that when he found himself in instances like this it was difficult to tell whether they were actually happening or he was just imagining them. He had a personal dinosaur, which was a tally mark in the imagination side because it was precisely the sort of thing that Calvin would choose to imagine. And he supposed that the weird sort of like animals but not quite things weren't beyond the stretches of his imagination, but he was far more likely to dream up aliens or zombies than the pink fluffy thing that was bouncing around and squeaking angrily at him right now.

Ben Copernicus (what. it was a good name. and apparently you were supposed to name these almost animal things when they belonged to you. Ben Copper for short. He was Tracer Bullet's old partner before he quit the force to work the private sector.) didn't seem to know what to do with the pink thing either, besides step gingerly around it and try not to squish it. Ben was a good guy like that. Personally, Calvin figured a squished pink thing would just look like a squished marshmallow, but what did he know? Ben was clearly the seasoned veteran here; he was just the rookie.

There didn't seem to be a whole lot of peril going on in this world, though, which was a pretty huge mark against this place being something that Calvin created. Stuff just wasn't very interesting without a little peril, in his opinion. Either way, he was stuck in this place for the time being. Stuck being yelled at by a giant pink marshmallow. That was weird even for Calvin.

"Look, go away!" Calvin shouted down from where he was perched comfortably on Ben Copper's back. "Whatever you're selling, we don't want any of it!" That always seemed to work for his dad when pink fluffy things (girls) showed up at their door squeaking about things and he wanted them to go away because he had a headache.

No the headache wasn't Calvin's fault, why would you think that?

Personality:
[Warning: Mild Spoilers for Into Darkness]
Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy is a doctor before he's anything else. Even family came second to his truest calling in life and that's to help those who are sick or injured. And for a man with very good bedside manner, he's incredibly grumpy, snarky, and cynical in most other aspects of his life.

When he was still a boy, McCoy went into the woods with his father, it was there that he fell from a tree and broke his arm. His father made a splint for it with a piece of wood and a torn shirt, telling McCoy to work with what he has when he's away from medical technology. Later healing his arm with a bone regenerator. This is a lesson he took to heart, not only to improvise and never rely on technology 100%, but also that a little bit of pain is actually good for the healing process, to not just hand out painkillers willy-nilly.

After graduating first in his class, getting a prestigious pediatrics job, and marrying Pamela, he feels like his life is set, but he learns a harsh lesson when his marriage falls apart and he loses a patient, that sometimes you have to hit bottom to end up where you most belong. His young patient had dreamed of becoming a Starship captain, talking to him often about how it would look, and with his father's encouragement, McCoy faces his fears and joins Starfleet, later reciting that it was because “a friend recommended it” that he joined, letting that brave child inspire him to do greater things.

Dr. McCoy is incredibly intelligent, first in his class, the top of his profession, and always looking for new better ways to help people, never quite satisfied to accept the second rate cure. If anyone could find a cure for a rainy day, it'd be this man. He's capable of noticing even the most subtle pattern in reactions and symptoms and analyze the proper treatment for them. At times he can be like a medical dictionary with the knowledge he keeps stored in his head, always able to recall at a moments notice and able to implement the proper medical steps to save lives or stop an adverse reaction.

While he's not initially the most pleasant person to be around, often cranky, skeptical, and jaded with foul mouth, he's got incredible amounts of loyalty to Starfleet, but even more so to his Captain and closest friend, Jim Kirk. Once his loyalties are earned, he will trust that person with anything, from risking his job to smuggle them on a ship when their suspended to running and jumping off a cliff while being chased by aliens who want to kill them. Yes, he'll bitch and complain the whole way, but he never hesitates to follow the people he trusts with a near blind loyalty. The drawback for the people he's loyal to is that he will medically hound them and fret over them worse than a mother would.

This man doesn't hold back his opinions or complaints, there will never be a time that you don't know exactly how he feels about a situation. And while he respects authority, he will still voice his opinions to his Captain, even if it's not welcomed, but as any man with respect for authority, if Jim really pulls the Captain card on him, he will listen, often with fierce annoyance. But as Chief Medical Officer, it's his job to question any decision the Captain makes that he feels even the slightest bit unsure about, a part of the job he gladly embraces (it's also why he's on the Bridge so often) much to Jim's annoyance he's sure. Though, if he's unsure how the authority figure he's questioning will react, he will go out of his way to ask permission to speak freely, as with Spock in the first movie. Kind of hard to just backtalk the Vulcan who marooned your best friend without making sure to cover your tracks and asking for permission to be rude.

True he has a short fuse and goes off like an earthquake when provoked, he can be very charming too. He's got amazing bedside manners and loves to flirt with the ladies, his bad divorce hasn't scared him away from the fairer sex. He's very good with children and loves to work with them, often missing working in pediatrics, but never regrets his choice to join Starfleet.

McCoy is an amazing doctor, a great friend, a voice of moral reasoning, and the grumpiest man you'd ever encounter, but probably the number one man you'd want on your side.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
Strengths:
+ Loyal
+ Caring
+ A Moral Compass
+ Outspoken
+ An Amazingly Talented Doctor
+ Pretty Much a Walking Medical Dictionary
+ Very Intelligent
+ Able to Work with What He's Got When Away from His Medical Technology (aka he knows old fashioned medical techniques)
+ Flirty
+ Great with Kids
+ The Man Who Could Cure a Rainy Day

Weaknesses:
- Short Temper
- Grumpy to an Incredible Degree
- Cynical
- Swears Often
- Gets Very Snarky When Unhappy with a Situation
- Complains Frequently
- Frets Over the People He Cares About Worse than a Mother
- Skeptical of Most Things
- Fear of Flying

I'm Doctor Leonard McCoy of the United Federation of Planets. Not sure how I got here, read the book and got kicked out by some woman claiming to be “mom,” and I can tell you, she ain't mine. So, what's this planet called? I know the continents, but not the name.

[He's very professional sounding, but then there a momentary pause before he talks again, sounding none too pleased]

Dammit, we just started this damn mission and 'm already God knows where. My communicator doesn't work and 'm stuck with this primitive piece of technology. [his tone is getting more and more irritated as he talks, blatantly displeased with this entire situation]

Useful information only please. I don't want to deal with anymore bullshit than I already am.

Third Person Sample:
A pink creature was staring at him and he was staring right back.

He took his time reading the book and observing other people who looked as lost as he was, at least it made him feel better that he wasn't the only one to wind up in this bubblegum world. So, yes, he knew what he was looking at was a Pokemon, even had the Gear-thing tell him it's an Audino. At least he's still got a nurse in some way.

Still, he was none to pleased to be here.

The Audino made a questioning sound and tilted it's head. Leonard wanted so badly to dislike the creature, but it almost reminded him of a child. He cursed colorfully for a moment, causing the creature to become wide eyed at him, clearly unsure what the cause was.

“Fine, we stick together, but I'm givin' you a name, you hear?” It nodded like it understood, that really weirded him out. “Chapel. She was my favorite nurse 'til she wound up all googly eyed for Jim and ran off. What a waste,” he started walking to the Pokecenter, because if he was stuck here, he wanted to check out the medical facilities. “Com'on Chapel, time's a wastin'.” Chapel made a pleased sound as she caught up to him, smiling up at him.

He just knew he was going to hate this place.

Character
Name: Xion
Series: Kingdom Hearts
Timeline: Post-3D
Canon Resource Links: Wiki Entry

Personality:

Despite wearing the coat of the insidious Organization XIII, Xion is one of the few, genuinely kind members of the group. Though almost shy and reserved at first meeting, she can display a variety of upbeat emotions when surrounded by those she considers friends. It isn't difficult to become friends with her either, as simple gestures of kindness or a good attitude are enough to warm her over. This might make her seem easily gullible, and at times she could take things literally too often, but this is a product of her being only a Replica whose life span was less than a year. Once she's aware of the true nature of things, Xion can wise up very quickly.

"Her gaze is just like Sora’s... The straight, unwavering eyes of a hero." --Naminé

Another aspect that makes her an oddity within the Organization is that Xion is ultimately one of the most heroic of the thirteen (and she wasn't even a true member!). She has a big sense of curiosity that comes from starting her life mostly out of scratch and picking up information as she goes along. Due to not being as wise to the world as most people would think a girl of her physical age should be, the curiosity gives way to a heightened sense of observation. The combination of her curiosity and way of trying to gain a better understanding of things lands her in the situation of what she should do upon finding the truth of her existence. Though she made her decision, it didn't come easy, as Xion's foremost worry was the safety of her friends and what would happen after she was gone.

As an imperfect Replica modeled from Sora's memories, she shares many of his traits (and by extension, Roxas), such as being very big on friends. For them, she is selfless, kind, and generous. Yet her aforementioned heroism results in her being very stubborn at times, especially when she believes with all her being that her decision is the "right thing to do." The nature is so inherent in her that when she begins to display it, Xion questions all sorts of things about her place in the Organization and how it feels so wrong to be in there; at strenuous times like these, she displays a rebellious temper or even frustration. This puts her at severe odds with the rest of the Organization, even with Roxas and Axel, her two best friends, and though she does display a wish to be with them, Xion knows the greater good outweighs her own needs.

The Replica ordeal has left Xion with some severe self-worth issues, as she can easily call herself an "affront to nature." Coupled with her heroic tendencies, this makes it difficult for Xion to realize her own worth and strengths. At best, she puts her all into trying to do a good or adequate enough job at the things she puts her mind to and she takes failures critically. She's good at bouncing back from these setbacks, it just might take her a while to not stay ruffled at them before looking at the bigger picture with more rationality.

Her previous stay in Route has largely mellowed out the last bit of her personality, but the tendencies are still there. She was making a genuine attempt to better her outlook on her life, and while she isn't so fatal with regards to her decisions, doing the right thing still heavily colors most of her decision making. Her stay did hone her ability to observe and pick out good, practical strategies during combat situations, and while she isn't as prone to impulsive decision making, it's hard to let go of the "when in doubt, give it a good smack" idea.

Strengths/Weaknesses:

+Able to wield the fabled Keyblade just as well as Roxas and Sora, and is ambidextrous with it. Thus, she also has an inherent knowledge on swordplay and good battle instincts
+Displays good work ethic sans the deserting
+Competent use of technology
+Good sense of right and wrong
+Outwardly kind, generous, and selfless - heroic
+Better at cooking due to previous stay at Route
+Observant and perceptive. Honed thanks to a variety of help from previous stay at Route
+Strong-willed and unwavering
+Can gather sets of seashells and eat ice cream everyday while staying trim (must be the fighting)

-Moody
-Moderately an introvert. It's hard to openly talk about her own problems to others as she thinks of it as burdening her friends with them
-Slightly impulsive
-Naive and somewhat gullible
-Low self-worth

+/- Stubbornness. While this doesn't make her falter in the face of making certain decisions, she's willing to get into arguments with others, even her friends, on carrying them out. Extends to arguing about the nature of her being if it ever comes up.
+/- Friends always come first. Her ultimate fate is a result of wanting to keep her best friends safe; she could be at her limits, but she'll still hold out for her friends.
+/- Strives to improve at all the things she feels she would need to work on, but for whatever reason, will still feel like that is not enough. It goes back to how she knows Replicas are the lowest on the totem pole of having a justifiable existence. This behavior has been mitigated somewhat due some of the things she's seen from 3D.

A major fear of hers is hurting her friends or seeing them hurt. Given that her existence is harmful to one of her best friends, it's a big fear of hers that might pop up in some fashion. However, this fear is muted due to the world nullifying her Replica abilities. She also dislikes the idea of disappointing someone or failing to meet some expectation if she's aware of it.

[ Pop goes the feed, and the face of a young girl with short black hair and blue eyes appears on the screen. There's a Skarmory also peering down at the screen with wonder and squawks at what Xion's doing with the PokeGear. ]

I, uh... [ Oh, now that she's gotten it back on, she... really didn't think about what she should say. Instead, she gives a brief wave with a shy smile before that hand goes to rub at her neck in slight embarrassment. She recovers quickly, though, after her new steely companion bumps her beak against Xion's cheek. ]

It's been a long time, it seems. At least I think it should be for here. It didn't even feel like I was gone, and yet... I remember this time.

It's good to be back.

Third Person Sample:

Somehow, this whole experience felt like that one time she passed out for an extended period in her previous world. Except the time passed in this world she was more comfortable with was a much longer time than she could ever think possible. Instead of Roxas, it was her "mother" that greeted her when she awoke once more.

Xion rubbed her eyes of sleep before she took in the familiar sights of New Bark Town. Same sights, same sounds, same soothing atmosphere with a hint of a gentle breeze billowing in the area. Her bag hung almost limp in her hand at how casual the strip felt in her hand. It truly didn't feel like she left; it felt like she fell asleep and simply awoke back to the beginning.

But she wouldn't be here again if that was the case. Her other hand held her PokeGear, which was opened to check the current date of the world. Already, she felt worry blossom in her chest as to how her friends were doing. She couldn't even stop feeling just a bit guilty for having left her friends like that, despite knowing the lack of control in that department.

With that in mind, she quickly resolved to make up to them by announcing her presence back in the world. Hopefully they wouldn't be... too angry? She wouldn't blame them if they did. She walked to a more vacant spot of the town and set down her pack before she began to fiddle with the Gear. It wasn't until halfway through the process of reacquainting herself with the device did she glance down at her bag and noticed the pokeball sitting inside.

Right, she had a starter. She only wondered if this one would be the same as Axel or maybe something completely different. She decided to satiate her curiosity quickly as she retrieved the ball and pressed the button to release her new Pokemon.

Character
Name: Alphonse Elric
Series: Fullmetal Alchemist
Timeline: The end of chapter 84
Canon Resource Links: His Wiki entry

Personality:
Polite, mature, understanding, all of these traits are ones that easily come to mind when thinking of the youngest Elric. Part of this had been due to necessity, as over the course of canon it's often shown that he has to be the check and balance to his brother's temper, making amends when his older sibling simply wouldn't bother, or thought there was no need. The rest, however, is simply how he's always been. Even as a child he was shown to be the one of the two who would quietly listen when it was needed, though by no means does this indicate he would be unwilling to speak up if he disagreed. As with any pair of siblings, he and his brother fought as children, and even now get into arguments that tend to devolve into hand to hand brawling. Usually, so far as Alphonse is concerned, Edward starts them.

At least, this is what he'd have people believe. Much as he loves his brother, Alphonse isn't adverse to getting his way, and has more than once proven to be the sneakier of the siblings. Where Edward will bluster and power his way through, Alphonse will cajole and make nice until the other party will come around to his way of thinking. He's not against using this on his brother either, and often sets about with minor manipulations and prods to coax his brother around to what he thinks he should be acting like. Of course, sometimes this is followed up with him physically manhandling the older teen into submission if tempers are involved, but in the end it's usually his words that settle him down, not the fact that any physical force came into it. This happens far, far more often than Alphonse would prefer, though he would forever rather have to hold Edward back from beating someone into the ground than not know if he's okay.

At the point he's taken from, he doesn't actually know that Edward is okay. The last thing he heard was that Edward had vanished, and while he'd managed to run into his father during this separation, one is hardly a replacement for the other. Worse still, however, is the fact that he wasn't sure that he would get to see him again given that he had, in the chapters leading up to where he's taken from, started to have issues keeping his soul attached to the metal body he'd gotten so used to. It's a situation that frightens him, but he's often more concerned about how it's really not the time for it rather than the fact that some would point that out as him dying. Things are going on in Amestris, and he's smack dab in the middle of them. He has responsibilities, and being a burden is the very last thing he wants. He's always carried his weight, taking care of his sibling as he was pressed harder and harder, taking care of himself when trouble came knocking on their door, and taking care of those around them as they strive to reach their long delayed goals. Being a burden has no place in that, because he's used to being the support, and while he's had his moments of crisis, he's overcome them with a maturity that many adults never even manage to achieve.

Alphonse is a far cry from being the height of seriousness however. His sense of humor is skewed the way any teenage boy's would be, and he has more than once denounced something that he found stupid as 'uncool'. He's mature, and polite, but he's also more than happy to fall into gossip, and even has found out things while doing so that have ended up aiding them in their quest. Above and beyond all of this, however, are the strays. Usually cats, sometimes people, Alphonse has a soft spot for the helpless or cute and is forever picking up things that his brother wishes he had left where he found them. Suffice to say, free reign over taking every kitty he sees home with him would thrill him forever. Once he got over the fact that the people who had just kidnapped him weren't responsible for his current location that is.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
Strengths:
Alphonse has a brilliant mind. This extends to concepts beyond alchemy, and he's been proven to think well under pressure in the field.
He is polite, and has been shown to maintain this even when speaking to enemies at times.
He is compassionate. If someone is hurting, then there's no way he can just turn away and ignore them, it's outside his nature to not try.
He knows how to hold onto his temper. Someone needs to.
He's creative, his artistic sense being one he feels is very elegant, though this creativity is also shown in nonmaterial ways.
He is an excellent martial artist. For many years he had a streak between him and his brother where he always won, and even now Edward tends to consider him the more skilled of them.
He loves his brother. No matter what doubts he's ever had, just knowing his brother is there will always make him try harder, because they are together and he will forever strive to stay equal with him.

Weaknesses:
He loves his brother. Sometimes this has brought with it waves of fear or doubt, because what if he fails him? He wouldn't know what to do, and it almost crippled him the day he thought his brother had been killed before his eyes.
He has a resolve not to kill. While in many situations this is a strength, in the situation he is currently in this can only be a weakness. Enemies left behind are enemies that can come stab you in the back later.
Cats. All the cats. They are his ultimate weakness and they turn him into a bit of an idiot sometimes because they're just so cute~!
He thinks too much. There have been times where he thought himself straight into a wall, resulting in him causing grief to everyone around him because he'd come to the wholly wrong conclusions about something.
His body. While excellent for combat, he can't feel with it, nor eat, drink, or sleep, and none of this will prepare him for being flesh and blood again. Especially not in a flesh and blood body that's far too skinny and has no musculature at all, as his human body has been reduced to while waiting for him to retrieve it.

[The camera was turned on a rather puzzled looking blond, whose first reaction on looking at the feed was to crunch up his face in dismay. He looked terrible. Way too skinny. Clearly, in his efforts to sort out the other details of his arrival, he'd overlooked this one in particular, which was understandable given the closest thing he had to a mirror was his pokemon. Which wasn't really at all reflective. The look didn't last though, quickly smoothing out as he remembered that he had something to say, and that the book had strongly implied that there was someone on the other end of this device to receive it.]

To all who might be receiving this message... I have something of a concern. [He paused, looking to the Aron, then back to the screen. Okay, so this was overly formal, even for him, and he took a deep breath to try to relax. Which was hard given he was trying to keep the camera from showing anything below the neck. He was only in an Apron and a waistcloth. All was not good in his world.]

Ah... I seem to have lost touch with my alchemy, and um, a great deal about how I remember myself being yesterday seems to have changed too, so if anyone can explain it to me, I'd be very grateful. Also... has anyone seen any other gold eyed blonds? If you have, I'd really like to know! Thank you!

Third Person Sample:
This was turning into a trend he really wasn't sure he liked. One second, he was fleeing a battle he knew he was in no condition to take part in, and the next, unconscious. Again. He knew there was no fixing it just yet, but he hoped that would be resolved soon. Now, on the other hand, was the time to figure out what horrible situation he'd landed himself in with his really bad timing.

His first guess was that, wherever he'd been put, it was really dark. This was an idea that he was quickly disabused of as he turned his senses outward, because not only did what he should be able to see not come into focus, he realized that he... was feeling things? His eyes opened at the thought, a reflexive action from the body that he hadn't had to do in years, and he heard a bustling of activity only just before the door was flung open by a woman he'd never seen before. She, oblivious to, or perhaps uncaring of, his confusion and resistance, stuck him in his clothes, his wholly not covering enough white waist cloth, and bid him good journey as she shoved him out the door, only to close and lock it behind him.

Everything about this situation was all wrong. Okay, maybe not wrong, but really not right either, and he stared down at his body with bewildered eyes before his gaze moved to the metallic creature that was waiting patiently in front of him for him to get moving as he showed that orienting himself was beyond his skills at the moment. He was pretty sure no one could blame him in this case though. He was in his body! And... had a pet?

A pet that was digging in his bag with its metallic face to present him with the books within. Books that, after he flipped through them, explained absolutely nothing at all. At least, if one wanted information on how they managed to come to be here. Or why they were here. Or even who was responsible for them ending up here.

Still, the animal had clearly tried to be helpful, and he sank carefully to his knees so he could reach out and pet the little creature. "Thank you very much for trying. So you're my companion huh? I guess that means I should name you." When expectant eyes met the declaration, he looked for some kind of reference to what the creature was... only to find the odd piece of technology in his bag next. Which talked to him.

Because that wasn't at all unnerving, really. But he knew what his new pet was now at least, and that it was a boy, so that would just have to work. "Okay... Arthur work for you?" When the reception was the creature practically dancing in place, he figured that was a yes, and set about packing his bag. "Okay then, Arthur, you and I need to get moving. No way we're going to find anyone staying here."

There was a beat of pause as he glanced down at himself again, then promptly dug back into the bag. "...Once I fix the clothing situation."

Character
Name: Kagura
Series: Inuyasha
Timeline: Middle of the battle at Mt. Hakurei.
Canon Resource Links: Up to episode 118.
Personality: > Kagura, in battle, can be seen as heartless and cruel, often going the extra mile to beat someone up instead of just giving them a swift death. She takes particular delight in taunting her enemies, often playful and condescending, as she often comments that this fight will be their “last dance”. She depends heavily on the information she knows about her enemy to fight well, but will never let them know that. She can, however, get caught up in something such as 'winning' a battle while it's being fought, often causing her to slip out important details that cause her to lose the fight. She also doesn't take into account that there may be flaws in a plot or plan she concocts to defeat her enemy, often her downfall in many situations. She also seems to believe that all the information she gathers about her enemy must be all they can do, and no more, such as not even thinking that Inuyasha might be stronger than Naraku had mentioned. She does not count on their personality, or their perseverance, to help them win a battle. She seems to only believe that skill or strength is the only thing allowing one to win a fight.

Outside of battle, it can be said that she keeps her taunting ways. She is coy with her words, choosing them carefully in order to invoke the response she wants and sometimes needs. She is not one to divulge in a situation without having some sort of upper hand--while confrontational, she has no need to be caught unprepared for a situation, and hates being caught off guard. Unfortunately, she still has emotions, and they get in the way sometimes, especially with someone like Naraku. With pretty much anyone, she can have a hair-trigger temper, causing her to slip into an emotional thought process of anger and rage instead of thinking things through, which often gets her into deep trouble or gets her to give out information she had no intention of giving out. Often times, this trigger is caused by her need for freedom, or making a connection to her being Naraku's servant, as she has a deep loathing for him.
She is the thoughtful type, though, if given enough time to think. One of her pastimes is planning out ways to get out of the situation she is currently in. She likes to analyze others, but she does not analyze them much past what would be useful or pertinent to her, like how she analyzes Inuyasha’s strength in a fight, but not how he talks to Kagome, or fights with Koga. She is rather adept at reading a situation quickly, as it is how she survives, since she lives with her greatest enemy, Naraku, who with one word could kill her. Her thoughtfulness and ability to know what to do and when to do it has helped her survive over the years.

Strengths/Weaknesses:I did a lot of this in her personality section (whoops), but she’s a good sleuth—she’s able to understand one thing leads to another without it being stated or shown. She’s at least half-decent at understanding people—insofar as it applies to her, nothing that doesn’t. She also knows when to do something and when to stay silent, being good at reading situations and all that. Her weaknesses are that she has a hard time playing nice—she can, but with very few amounts of people. She, from her canon point, has a certain lack of empathy, too, unless they are in her shoes. And, finally: she underestimates people often.

First Person Sample: [Kagura’s voice is slightly nasal, almost croaky, and it certainly sounds awfully annoyed at the moment. She’s got no clue where she is, Naraku’s bees are no where to be found, and everything is foreign. The wind demon would’ve thought it was a dream if she hadn’t got pecked in the head by the Hoothoot that was following her around. It wasn’t helpful that she’d lost her ability to fly, either. Something is very wrong here, and someone on the communicator better tell her right now, or else lose their head. As soon as she got her powers back.]
What the hell is going on? God damnit, Naraku, what kind of game are you playing? And someone get this bird off of me!

Third Person Sample: The night growing old as a breeze blew through the forest, Kagura sitting in a branch of a tree near town. While the man that escorted her here was in town and staying there for the night. She wasn’t comfortable with all this new technology; she’d only been here a day, and it was a long and boring one at that. Her Hoothoot was up on a taller branch, making noise at the moon high in the sky. She closed her eyes, laying her head against the tree.
She didn’t want to trust anything that was suggesting this happening, of course. The fact that this wasn’t some kind of illusion wasn’t setting in just right. How could a world like this truly exist? But, that wasn’t what was keeping her up. It wasn’t like she could take a vacation from those thoughts simply because she was possibly away from Naraku. He’d done things like this before, trick her and make her believe that she was safe, and she was not going to have that happen again. But the question was how he’d caused this to happen. He didn’t have the powers to do this, change a whole world. He could change vast landscapes, though….she would have to keep herself on guard for now, and pretend that she was still loyal to his cause, and that she was at least worried.
The sudden rustling had Kagura whipping her head to the side, near the path that had been made to the next town. It seemed strange that weren’t using a form of light, and they weren’t waiting in another town or somewhere farther down. Then again, if they really wanted the comforts of a nice warm bed, they would have to travel to this place, wouldn’t they? Either way, Kagura was not going to let them get the best of her in a world that didn’t make sense. Although her powers were gone, she hopped down from the branch, and her Hoothoot behind her, as she got in a defensive stance.
“Show yourself.”

Personality: Visas is a very even-tempered person. She is not prone to violence or anger easily or even sadness. On that note she has spent five years of torture under a Force Bond with Darth Nihilus, physical and mental scars in her thoughts constantly. It wasn't until she served under the Exile that her faith in people was restored partially but still tends to be surprised at acts of kindness. She is fiercely and perhaps even dangerously loyal to those who earn her trust. The fact that she was the only living being that survived the planet gives her a constant amount of guilt. While she isn't quick to any emotion, when she is on any particular emotion, it is difficult to sway her from that path.

While her outlook seemed bleak when she was with her Sith Master, with the Exile she found a glimmer of hope that perhaps all isn't lost, that when the Exile was ready she would succeed. Visas also knew full well of the dangers her group faced as she put it: there are many sides of hatred and they all have the Dark Side to its name.' She is a quiet and soft-spoken person, and a very perceptive one at that, as she was able recognize Mandalore the Preserver just by his voice. (also known as Canderous Ordo, a collegue of Revan's) And though she may not say much on the surface, she is a very loyal companion and has the utmost trust in the Exile and those she trusts. Her saying of 'my life for yours' means simply that if choices force her to choose between that of her Master's life or her own, she would gladly sacrifice herself to save the Exile. She's very serious in most occasions and the concept of humor is lost on her at times. If someone was being sarcastic, Visas likely would not pick that up.. The only thing more I could add to this is that Visas is very formal to those she is not familair with.

Strengths/Weaknesses:

She's very good at melee combat. She's not very prone to anger or most emotions easily as stated in the personality section. She's a very serious-minded person and doesn't understand jokes or any sort of sarcasm. Visas is also very much self-sacrifice for those who have earned her respect and companionship. She's not very personable woman, but she is a loyal person. And finally she is not a very talkitive woman.

Greetings. I have been told this world is named Johto by someone calling themselves my mother. An untruth perhaps, but that is not the reason I ask of others in my own position. First of all, has anyone arriving here been... altered? It appears human is the default species in this world and these... Pokemon of course. It is... interesting to see through eyes rsther than through other means. The other point I wished to ask is has anyone heard of a young woman by the name of the Exile? It is vitally important that I locate her immediatiately if she's somewhere on this world. Thank you for your time. My name, if you wish it is Visas Marr.

Third Person Sample:

The (former) Miralukan Jedi known as Visas Marr knew that patience happened to be one of her strong suits, but right now she was trying to focus on multiple things on a nearby wooded area. And it was taking a toll on her physically. The small blue and white skinned Meditite (perhaps affectionly) named Brianna was looking at her new trainer with a mixture of wonder, amazement, and helplessness. Upon Visas' arrival, she had become unaccustomed to sight via her new eyes rather than throught the Force. So Brianna was showing the woman how to spar with her eyes as Visas took that better than through other means.

It had taken several tries with Brianna but as she had caught on rather slowly, Visas figured out how to see with her eyes. "This was a most agreeable training period, Brianna. Perhaps a five minute break then we should get moving?" The small Fighting/Psychic type agreed wholeheartedly. So she gently jumped on Visas' lap, almost passed out from the training.

Visas while not the most emotionally stunted person around usually, knew that rest would good for the both of them. "Perhaps some food, Brianna? Would you like that?". The Meditite nodded happily if a bit tiredly. Visas pulled out a small box full of Pokemon treats which Brianna happily scarfed down. After Visas had eaten her own boxed lunch about ten minutes later, the pair were walking further in Route 29. As they walked down the path they were in the way of a Bug/Fighting type: a Heracross who was resting on the path disturbed by all the sparring that Visas and Brianna had done. So, he decided to fight them.

Brianna wasn't impressed by the Single Horn Pokemon and Visas wasn't inclined to battle at this moment. "Heracross, leave us be: that is your only warning." It didn't look as though Heracross would listen and Visas prepared for the first move. Heracross aimed one of his arms at the smaller target aka Brianna but she dodged the attack. She then glowed blue and knocked the bug into a tree with a Confusion attack, being super effective the attack weakened the Heracross long enough to for Visas to catch it. With a nod to Brianna, Visas looked at the captured Heracross in her hand. "Well done, Brianna. Now perhaps we should get a move on now?" The Meditite nodded with a shrug, and they continued on no matter what challenges they faced.
