APPLICATIONS!
Currently: Closed!
Route 29 has closed as of May 30th. For the continuation of the game, please visit [community profile] victory_road!

Applications will be normally checked during the weekend following the first and third Sunday of each month unless otherwise stated, and we will allow one application per person during one application cycle. Remember, the most characters one player can have at a time is currently set at five.

Applications received after 11:59 PM EST on Saturday of the first and third weekend of each month will be checked the following app weekend unless otherwise stated.

We now ask that potential applicants post their application in comments rather than linking. If their application contains explicit references to 'hard' spoilers (character death, unforeseen plot twists, big reveals, he was evil all along etc), players should put the application in their own journal or their character's journal and link it, making sure to mention the presence of spoilers within. For further clarification on our spoilers policy and whether or not your application needs to be linked, please check this page. Thank you for your cooperation!

The comment character limit on dreamwidth is 16,000 characters so apps no longer need to be split into multiple comments; however this is at players' discretion.

Please use the form below and post your application in comments rather than linking if you can. If you have any questions, feel free to ask either of the mods. You can reach us through emails, IMs, or PMs.

A reminder for those waiting to hear back, please don't be worried if we skip yours while going through them. It only means we needed a little more time to research!

Timezone: Eastern
Current Characters in Route: None

Character
Name: Princess Mi Amore Cadenza (shortened to Cadence)
Series: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
Timeline: Post-Season 3
Canon Resource Links: Behold! The Crystal Princess!

Personality: As indicated by her title, Cadence has incredible amount of faith in the power of love. This isn’t due to any bias as the princess of love, mind you; she truly believes that love is the greatest emotion and greatest force out there. Love can put an end to disputes, heal all wounds and bring people (and ponies) closer together. Most of her magic revolves around love and she’s known for literally spreading it wherever she goes, so if there’s a dispute going on, she’ll work her hardest to end it peacefully.

While she’s not particularly fond of direct confrontations, she’ll still fight for what she believes in and most importantly, the ones she loves. It takes a lot to pick yourself up when you’ve hit rock bottom and everything’s crumbling around you, but when the time came to save Shining from the changeling queen and ultimately, Equestria, she charged right off to end it. The greatest problem from this ordeal wasn’t that Shining was going to marry someone else, but that the other person he was going to marry didn’t love him and didn’t plan on loving him. All Chrysalis wanted was to use him for her own purposes; it was the thought of Shining marrying for reasons that excluded love that truly horrified her and kept her moving.

It’s during times of crises when Cadence will truly demonstrate how far she’s willing to go for the sake of others; with love for pretty much everyone out there comes a slight feeling of responsibility for them, even if she barely knows them. This stems from both her personality and her role as a princess, so there’s no doubt about how much of her heart she’ll put into a task when the need arises. Unfortunately, she often pushes herself to her limits when she works so hard; when the Crystal Empire faced the imposing threat of literally being lost in darkness, she used her own magic to keep the empire safe and the darkness out. For days, she didn’t eat or even sleep. She simply sat on her throne and maintained that barrier until she exhausted her magic.

…But even in those situations, she’ll still make time for others. Even when practically wasting away from maintaining the barrier, Cadence still greeted Twilight with their secret hoofshake and a smile. Her devotion to her responsibilities are only rivaled by her devotion to her loved ones…even though it won’t be too surprising if she ends up hurting herself because of it. It’s to be expected when her specialization in love defines a good portion of her character. It means she’s willing to go the extra mile for and tend to others in need, especially children. She helped raise Twilight as her foal sitter and bonded with her to the point where they both considered each other sisters. Part of the reason for this is due to Cadence still occasionally acting like a child. After all, she’s an adult princess who still does the secret hoofshake she did when she was young. Though it often makes her look unprofessional, Cadence is mature enough to know when it’s okay to act like a child and when to act like an adult.

As loving and caring as she is, Cadence isn’t one to take threats sitting down. She’s no damsel in distress; in fact, she’s quite the opposite. Even when things are at their worst, she remains proactive in finding a solution for it while making sure everyone with her also makes it through. Even when Chrysalis trapped her in a cave, she went forth with a brave heart and Twilight by her side. Admittedly, she doesn’t always think logically when she gets desperate; a mine cart that would carry Twilight and Cadence closer to the cave’s exit was blocked off by fallen rocks. In her strong wish to save Shining Armor from Chrysalis, she tried to force the cart in motion by pushing it, an effort that was to no avail. It took Twilight’s rational thinking and levitation to move said rocks out of the way to keep them going, but ultimately they escaped.

Overall, Cadence remains very friendly towards others, though her experience with changelings has taught her to be more careful with whom she speaks to. Even while living in a world full of loving ponies, she still stands out as one of the more uniquely sweet and loving mares around. As a princess, she knows of proper conduct and how to act towards others, but to stay as loving and kind as she is shows how she doesn’t let her title get to her head, especially since she prefers that others call her Cadence instead of her full name.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
+Very responsible as a princess and a person
+Knows how to manage herself (as in when to be sensitive and when to be serious)
+Kind towards all others, particularly children
+Always willing to offer help
+Particularly knowledgeable of love and relationships
+Knows better than to grow an ego from her title or her specialty in love
+Takes initiative during times of crises

+-Always modest
+-Self-sacrificing

-Pacifistic in her approach to problem solving (She’s a lover; not a fighter)
-Doesn’t always think straight
-Occasionally childish
-Often exhausts herself from overexerting support

Samples
First Person Sample:
(Have a concerned Cadence on the feed, everyone.)
I've just learned about a Pokemon called Ditto and...I'm not exactly sure what to think. I've been told that's a Pokemon every breeder should pursue and after learning about its capabilities, I can understand why. After all, a Pokemon that can breed with any other Pokemon out there is definitely something special!

I'm just...concerned about the prospect. I know breeders are supposed to make strong Pokemon through breeding, but...well, I prefer such things be done through love than through force, you know? Having a child is a big step forward in a relationship, but a Ditto...well, it seems as though they're only treated as breeding machines than Pokemon. I'm not saying they can't love, but sometimes I worry they're expected not to love. They can dream and feel as much as any Pokemon or even any of us, can't they?

...I might be thinking too deeply into it, but isn't it a breeder's responsibility to ensure their Pokemon are happy and willing to produce eggs? I mean, it's every much about them as it is about their children...

...What do you think about the issue, everyone? This is clearly something that could benefit from a debate.

Third Person Sample:

Cadence had to admit, there was something very enjoyable about not only being a breeder, but being in a completely different world with so much to do and so much to see. Did she miss home? Yes. Did she worry about the Crystal Empire? Of course. Was it awkward getting adjusted to a human body? Obviously. However, she didn't let the cons weigh her down for long; it's not as if this was a complete loss.

For one thing, it gave her a much-needed break from her royal duties; she didn't mind them much, but after a while, even princesses need to take a break. And if she really started to miss her title, there were always her Pokemon to keep in mind. They're adorable little rascals, but they really need someone to supervise them. There were also her fellow ponies; they're responsible on their own, but as the oldest in the group, Cadence had to assume the role of a guardian figure.

The ponies were very much another reason to appreciate Johto: not only was there the benefit of having others from her world to spend time with, but she could spend time with her favorite group of ponies, all of whom had as much difficulty adjusting to human bodies as she did. Cadence knew the easiest way to make anything exciting was to get Twilight and her friends involved in something. She heard about the Grand Galloping Gala incident and almost regrets not being there to see everything fall to pieces.

Even if they weren't here, there were plenty of others from other worlds to talk to! Humans seemed like a pretty interesting bunch and after spending some time as one, she couldn't help but get a little curious about them. After all, they'd probably feel the same way if they became ponies, right? They were as interesting to her as the Pokemon.

...Pokemon who apparently saw fit to occasionally stir up trouble amongst each other like children. It always made her laugh and want to hug them when she saw them like this; with a love for animals and a love for children, it was like getting the best (and sometimes the worst) of both worlds.
