Character
Name: Ripto
Series: Spyro the Dragon
Timeline: After conquering Winter Tundra, before facing Spyro.
Canon Resource Links: Ripto @ Spyro Wiki
Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage @ Spyro Wiki

Personality: First things first: the Spyro games all run on rule of cool and rule of funny. Several things Ripto does in canon could be considered absolutely horrific in a more serious setting, but due to the nature of the Spyro games, throwing bombs at people, getting crushed by a massive dinosaur-thing, and falling into an abyss are played for laughs. While these actions are all treated this way, as a character, Ripto would be prone to doing terrible things if he could get away with them.

But! Let's focus on the character himself, shall we? Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage is the title of the game in America (it's known as Spyro 2: Gateway to Glimmer in Europe), and it's a very apt title. Ripto is a little rageball. He has several berserk buttons that Spyro finds and mashes repeatedly throughout the game. The first berserk button? Dragons. Ripto hates dragons. He hates dragons to the point of deciding to settle in Avalar without even seeing the place just because there are no dragons there. (It's also worth noting that he discovers this through smell so apparently dragons are either really distinctive scent-wise or Ripto has the best sense of smell ever.) Why does he hate dragons so much? Well, this requires a little back story of an explanation.

Ripto comes from a world where dragons are the best magic-users. Their skills are unparalleled to begin with, and Ripto is a dinosaur-like species, one that doesn't excel at magic anyway. Instead of trying to train his magical prowess to the best of his ability, Ripto said "screw that" and went after other means of power. In canon he obtains a Power Crystal (technically to replace the one Gulp ate, but details) which greatly increases his power. So why is he mad at dragons, exactly? Because dragons don't have to rely on "Power Crystals" and the like in order to use magic. They're constantly better than he is, and they're all huge!

That brings us to Ripto's second biggest berserk button, his size. Ripto is tiny. In canon he's only taller than the Professor, who is ridiculously short. Spyro stands taller than Ripto, and he's a quadruped. Needless to say, Ripto's got a huge Napoelon Complex here. He wants to prove that he shouldn't be underestimated because he's so tiny. The best way to do that? Conquer all the worlds, obviously! He likes to ride around on Gulp's head which does give him some more height. It's very obvious that he's tiny, however. (He'll be human-sized in Route obviously, but he'll still be incredibly short!)

So we know that Ripto gets pissed off very easily when it comes to these two things. What else is there to Ripto other than being a bundle of rage? Well, he's a conqueror. Or rather, he likes to think he is. He hasn't actually conquered anything before arriving in Avalar, but that's perfectly fine! He'll take over this peaceful place! ...He actually does manage to take over the homeworlds and start up quite a lot of trouble in the various places. The best example is between the Land Blubbers and the Breezebuilders. The two species have apparently disliked one another for quite some time, but prior to Ripto showing up in Avalar they weren't actually fighting. When Spyro enters either Zephyr or Breeze Harbor, he discovers that they're at war with one another. Thanks, Ripto. We needed that. Ripto is clearly capable of provoking fights without actually getting into them, and he's cunning enough to turn the people against one another instead of just showing up, claiming to be the new ruler, and getting his ass kicked. (He learned his lesson after Summer Forest, alright.)

It's never specifically stated whether the enemies found in the various worlds are created by Ripto or not, but in later games it is revealed that Ripto can make enemies using magic. These enemies are their own species known as "Riptocs" and quite obviously they're created to obey Ripto. He certainly knows that utilizing armies would be far more useful than attempting to take Spyro down himself - which also explains why he sends Crush, then Gulp after Spyro instead of chasing him down personally. Speaking of which, Ripto is genuinely upset when Spyro defeats both his minions (though he's more upset about Gulp, since Crush was pretty much useless and at least he could ride on Gulp). He is capable of feeling things other than rage and pleasure, but he doesn't dwell on those emotions for too long before switching back to rage.

Oh right, let's talk about Ripto's ego. It's quite the contrast to his tiny size, and even knowing that he's not the best wizard around, Ripto's ego is still huge. In Avalar, he's certainly one of the most skilled wizards (except for the wizards in Mystic Marsh and Cloud Temples, though it's debatable whether he ever encountered them) and he does know it. Ripto never goes into details about just why he's so awesome, but you should know that he's incredibly awesome. Yes. Of course he is. Don't question him. Knocking his ego down to size just doesn't happen. Seriously. He gets mad at insults, but he never actually takes them to heart. Though come to think of it, he doesn't really take anything to heart.

Ripto has very little empathy for anyone. He sees Crush and Gulp as tools to use in battle, and therefore doesn't really feel much toward their defeat. Admittedly, that's a lot more than he feels toward the people he's actively hurting in Avalar. He doesn't even bother to explain it away as "it's all for the greater good" or anything like that. Nope. He does it for the evulz. Evil for evil's sake, basically. Oh, and conquest. Because he likes power.

In summation, Ripto's a little midget with serious anger issues who wants nothing more than to conquer the world and rule with an iron fist. Clearly he's going to love taking over Johto.

Strengths/Weaknesses: ✔ Ripto is perfectly fine with showing up in a new world and attempting to conquer it. It's happened before, no big deal. He can adapt to new situations very easily.
✔ He's had experience training useless creatures! See: Crush and Gulp. He commanded both of them outside of the boss fights, so he at least has some experience with taming creatures.
✔ Ripto is very motivated. Once he's decided he wants to do something, he'll do just about anything to get it. He doesn't change his mind about things very often and will almost always see a goal through to the end.
✔ So just how good is Ripto at this conquering thing? Well, he showed up a week before the game starts and has already conquered the Summer Forest homeworld. He's caused a lot of chaos within that week (including pushing two rival worlds into warring with one another) and he shows no signs of stopping there. He's very good at instigating fights and lying through his teeth; he actually could have been a decent ambassador if he wasn't so interested in power. Is he a good ruler though? Well...
✘ Ripto rules through Machiavellian ideals. It's better to be feared than loved, etc. This tends to just have people rebel against him. Whoops.
✘ The game is called "Ripto's Rage" for a damn good reason. Ripto has serious anger issues and will get pissed off at the most trivial things. His height is a major berserk button - he's easily one of the shortest characters in the series. When he's pissed, Ripto loses sight of his goals and instead focuses on revenge. He's the sort to hold a grudge forever.
✘ He's also stubborn; Ripto is always right, even when he's not. You're obviously wrong. Especially if you're a dragon. Now shut up and let him gloat.
✘ Speaking of dragons... Ripto hates them. He hates them to the point where they get their own section here. He will go out of his way to rant about just how much he hates dragons. Dragons are very powerful and capable of using incredibly potent magic. Ripto has studied magic for quite some time, and even through using powerful crystals he still can't compare to a dragon's power. Obviously he's a little bitter. Finding out that there were no dragons in Avalar sold him completely - he was willing to leave his homeworld behind in a heartbeat just to avoid being overshadowed by dragons.
✔ / ✘ Ripto is confident to the point of overconfidence. He tends to underestimate those he goes up against (repeatedly, in Spyro's case) because he's certain of his own capabilities. Which, by the way, have been proven to be worse than a dragon's to begin with. Hmm.
✔ / ✘ He's very stubborn which can be a good thing. It means that he won't be changing his mind or very easily influenced. But his opinions are terrible and he really should be stopped.

Samples
First Person Sample: [Good morning, Johto! Well, it's not going to be a good morning for long! Have a cackling midget riding on top of a Salamence. He's decked out in full Rocket gear (and a very distinctive purple cape which kind of ruins the anonymity) and he's pointing directly at Goldenrod's Gym.]

Destroy them! Make sure it's painful, Dragon!

[...Yes, he did name that thing "Dragon," and yes, he is planning on riding it into battle. The dragon roars and stomps toward the door. ...Then comes the problem that the dragon won't actually fit through the door. Ripto stops cackling.]

Oh what? Are you serious? Just break the door down, Dragon!

[The Salamence rolls its eyes and backs up a bit, readying a Flamethrower attack.]

Johto! This is a message from your new king! Surrender now, or we'll raze this city to the ground!

[That's directed at the Gear and Ripto starts cackling again before flipping off the Gear. If you're listening closely, however, you might catch the last comment to the Salamence,] Hey, hey! Watch it, flamebreath! Don't set my cape on fire!

Third Person Sample: The first week of Team Rocket training was anything but fun. Ripto wasn't human - he had never been human, and he had never even seen a human prior to showing up here - and adjusting to his new height, his new body, and all the work Team Rocket wanted him to do was going to take more time than they were giving him. He was lucky he hadn't been caught by the time the second week rolled around, and he really wasn't surprised by the fact that the other newcomers were doing better than him. It was obvious that they would, after all. Most of them were used to being human. Most of them were used to relying on physical skills rather than magic. Ripto wasn't, obviously.

But he wasn't going to lose out to anyone. The second week Ripto really started pushing both himself and his Pokémon. Dragon and Useless - his Bagon and Rattata - weren't very pleased about it, but Ripto didn't slack off at all. He was beginning to get results by the time the training was done, but that left him with absolutely no idea what to do with himself. There were labs with several (uppity, he was sure) scientists that were working for Team Rocket, but what use would that be? He had no interest in sitting inside all day, studying Pokémon while he could be outside, conquering Johto.

So that meant he was going to have to do his own thing for Team Rocket. After studying the network and discussing things with other Rockets, it was clear that the best thing to do was raise his Pokémon for the time being, and then - like the anonymous Rockets and Cobra - attack the general population to gain a name for himself and Team Rocket. The more power this organization had, the better. After all, he could easily conquer the entire region with this organization working for him!

...But first that meant gathering strong Pokémon that weren't useless rats or obnoxious dragons.

Character
Name: Winry Rockbell
Series: Fullmetal Alchemist (MANGA / Brotherhood)
Timeline: Chapter 84 // same stuff happens on FMA Brotherhood episode 46~
Canon Resource Links: The girl | The series

Personality: First impression of Winry Rockbell is often a cute, cheerful and charming girl. She's very sweet and friendly to everyone and this includes the bad guys too as they don't seem/feel like bad guys in her eyes at first sight. This might be because she grew up in Resembool and her life there has been peaceful. She's a good girl from a rural town who was raised to be a polite young woman and she really wants to be that kind of good girl, so her parents could be as proud of her as she is of them. Winry seems to charm everyone around her in just little time with her kindhearted personality and genuine smile. Ed seems to be the only one who always has something bad to say to her ("Mech freak!". "Crazy gearhead!" "Do you think you look sexy with earrings..." etc.), everyone else always say positive things. Yes, everyone.

Winry is a mechanics/machines obsessed girl and automails are her real passion. While other girls love to look pretty, smell sweet and spend their days doing girly stuff, Winry can spend nights and days working on automails and she really loves everything in it. The smell of oil, the creaking of artifical muscles, the whirring of bearings... She could go on about it all day if she wasn't a very busy engineer. Whenever she sees a cool machine, she goes into a mech insane mode (she kind of spazzes in a world full of glitter and roses and explains stuff that only mechanics understand) and it takes a while before she's normal again. Winry really wants to be the number one automail engineer and she works extremely hard for this goal. She's always willing to learn everything what people around her can teach about (new) mechanic stuff. She takes notes, she asks many, many questions, and she listens to every detail from other mechanics. As a mechanic she always tries to have some personal time for every customer and it's one of the reasons for why they all like her so very much. She really shows that she cares and worries about their safety, it makes her special in Rush Valley and the people there have gone as far as demanding her to come back there. ("Only Miss Winry can do this and that", "It's not good unless it's her work." etc). Oh yeah, she actually left her grandmother alone (with her permission, of course) to a rural town to learn more about automails as an apprentice to a skilled automail engineer, Mr Garfiel. Being away from home and living in another town "on her own" for so long was all brand new to her, but she had to take the chance when she had it. Everything was worth it, too, she really learned there a lot (she was even able to make new, lighter automails from new material for Ed), and she still keeps improving all the time. And she really wants to improve all the time, so watch out with machines when she's around.

If you happen to see Winry in Ed's company you will probably see her fierce temper. They're not always fighting. They just fight often and they fight about all the little things too, they're just like an old married couple. Even Ed's scared whenever he knows that Winry will be mad because he did something stupid again, so she can be very scary when someone enrages her. Usually this side shows because Ed broke her automail again even though he's supposed to keep them in perfect condition. You may want to avoid bad manners in her company too, because Winry won't let you do whatever you want without stating her opinion about it. When Paninya stole from the people of Rush Valley with her automails, Winry yelled at her that she should stop it . Stealing is not a way to make the girl's automail mechanic proud of the girl and his work at all. And it actually worked, that girl stopped stealing stuff and started helping people instead. And when Winry had a bunch of strange men in her bedroom, she actually hit them all away from there with her wrench. (You just don't walk into a girl's bedroom like it's a normal thing for all men to do!) Everytime people do something stupid over and over again (for example: Ed breaks her automail), Winry becomes even more enraged than last time. No, she's not going to just get used to the things you do, because people shouldn't do those things. (Wasn't any of those previous times enough already?!) Unfortunately Ed's head is made of steel or something, as he still breaks that automail too often. Winry becomes physically stronger when she's enraged. Her rage always last for a moment, then she calms down and everything's normal again - no worries~! She's not one to hold any grudges against anyone either.

Winry is very strong-willed, especially about being Edward's mechanic until he'll get his real limbs back someday. It takes an extremely strong will to stay as his mechanic, when the boy is so reckless and needs repairs too often. But Winry has never thought about giving up on it. She made a promise, the boys are important to her and she wants to support them as much as she can. If it includes Ed being the worst nightmare of automails and making her work as hard and much as she can, then that's fine too, she can take it. She puts her heart and soul into everything she does and she's very stubborn. Winry is still keeping her promise to Ed about tears ("No tears unless they're tears of joy"), she's very strong-willed about that too. You can trust her as a great friend who keeps all promises to her friends.

Realizing she has always been in love with Ed, or that she fell for him as time passed, didn't really change much. Actually it didn't change anything. They still fight as much and loud as ever, everything is normal. Sometimes Winry wonders why she's in love with that idiot, but some of those thoughts happen when Ed's just acting weird (hey, who else freaks out and starts going through chemistry in the middle of a normal situation?). But even though she questions it sometimes in a somewhat frustrated manner, Winry knows exactly why she loves him, though she hasn't told him about her feelings yet and she isn't planning to tell him soon either. Not when Ed's got his brother and the whole Amestris to save. Winry can wait, and she won't even dislike waiting on this matter. She's got things to do too, such as baking apple pie for the boys when they come home as whole after everything. Winry trusts them to do that. She's got a lot of patience and hope that someday the situation will be better.

Winry hates waiting when it's the only thing she can do and she's frustrated to be the one who always has to wait. She has her moments when she just jumps into action. It's scary to just let her loved ones go and wait for them to come back, if they ever come back. It didn't help when her mind started reminding her about her parents walking away every time Ed and Al walked away from her and she got scared. Maybe the brothers would never come back either? She's always worried about them both, so she's always happy to see them both and being able to talk to them -- especially now, when they tell her things. They used to keep everything between themselves, always keeping Winry out of their secrets to protect her, but it didn't work forever.. Ed even asked her opinion about what they should do now? Winry was surprised, because they've never asked her opinion before that. Obviously she hasn't liked everything that they've told her, but she can take it and support them even better when she knows what they're doing and what they've been going through. When Ed told Winry to get out of the country with her grandmother and dog, Den, she got furious and told Ed to protect Amestris instead because she's not going anywhere from home and Ed just can't let the bad guys do whatever they want to do.

She is the only child of two doctors, her parents died in the war of Ishval when they were trying to help people on the field. Unlike Ed and Al who also lost their parents, Winry cried for some time and then she got up on her feet again. She's had a mostly happy life, and she stayed as cheerful as ever as time passed. She understood why Ed and Al tried to bring their mother back, though she probably would have never tried bringing her parents back. Winry's got great empathy skills, she can easily recognize and share feelings experienced by other people -- she has even cried for those who can't cry or who just won't cry because they're too tough to cry. This girl used to be a huge crybaby. When she found out who killed her parents, she grabbed a gun in shock and pointed it at that person... But she couldn't shoot. She's definitely not someone who can hurt people like that and she's not a vengeful person. Ed protected her like a lion on that day and she finally cried her eyes out in his arms. Probably neither of them had realized how much the loss of her parents hurt Winry until that moment. She met the killer of her parents later and while Winry can't forgive him, she couldn't just watch him bleed to death in front of her either. Her parents saved the man's life, she wants to respect that in her own way, even if it means treating his wound etc. But she told him to "Get real" if he thinks that she can just forgive it. She even suggested a plot to get away from danger -- it just happened to include the part where that man "kidnaps" her and escapes with her. True, she didn't like the plot at all, but it was their only way and they had to do it. Of course Ed and Al didn't like it either, but she got her will through. Winry can be very determined like that too. And because her parents were doctors, she has some medical knowledge. She read a lot of their books when she was a child and possibly saw them in action because it's just a small town.... Her medical knowledge has been good for helping a woman to deliver a baby, she was the one who knew what to do and gave orders to others. She also helped her grandmother, Pinako, to save Ed's life when he lost two of his limbs -- and later Winry helped in Edward's automail surgery too! She might panic a bit when her medical knowledge is needed, but she will do her everything to help.

Winry is also a very caring person, who likes to look after people. Family is the most important to her, but everyone else come right after family. Alphonse Elric is like a little brother to her and Elicia Hughes instantly adopted her as a big sister, the little kid almost stopped her from leaving the Hughes' house. Winry was instantly adopted to the whole Hughes family as soon as she met them. She'll never say no to more friends and more siblings, don't be surprised if she starts acting like a big sister. She's fast with her social skills. She befriends with most people very soon after meeting them, then she'll get worried about everyone around her, but in her opinion it's definitely worth it. Winry makes a good actress too whenever a little bit of acting skills are needed. She was even able to fool a very dangerous man. She can be a little devilish sometimes, but it's all for good purposes (such as getting what she wants) only.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
>+ She's an excellent mechanic and it's not limited to automails only, but automails are her real passion. She's great at picking up locks too, even Ed's clock wasn't a problem to her, though Ed locked it with alchemy.
+ Strong-willed, you'll be surprised if you think she'll just give up~!
+ Empathy skills are also high, she even used to cry for people who never cry.
+ Cheerful, she always has a smile for everyone.
+ She has some medical knowledge too as she basically spent her childhood reading books from her parents' bookshelf. Her parents were doctors. Winry has even saved Ed's life with her granny and helped a woman to deliver a baby with the help of her friends. She has also helped an enemy when the enemy was hurt.
+ She becomes physically stronger when she gets angry~.
+ Ed's perfect wife-to-be! She can be very independent; she's been helping her grandmother with housework (cleaning, cooking, laundry etc) for years and her skills were put into a test whenever she was far away from home.

- She's always worried about Ed, who doesn't make it any easier with his reckless personality making Winry worry about him even more. And Al, especially now when she knows more about everything. And she worries about other people too. It doesn't make life easy and it makes her go to her own worlds often.
- Her relationships can be used against her, in fact they have been used against her and Elric brothers in canon.
- She's too kind and people use this side of her to their advantage too.
- It's rare for Winry to show her sad side in front of people. She did get over from the death of her parents, well as much as someone can get over something like that, but talking about family might upset her.
- Her biggest fear is definitely losing Ed and Al. The brothers don't make it any easier for her because well, Ed joined the military and Al's there with him so yes, Winry is very scared for them often.
- Stealing from anyone and injuring anyone are also things that she can't do (hitting people with her wrench doesn't count to the word injuring~).

Character
Name: Kuranosuke Shiraishi (first name, last name)
Series: The Prince of Tennis
Timeline: Year before actual canon. After the two "Another Story II - Ano Toki no Bokura" OVA episodes.
Canon Resource Links:
Prince of Tennis
Shiraishi I & Shiraishi II

There isn't much written info about the two OVA episodes I'm taking him from so a small summary:

A story about Shitenhouji regulars on their second year (Kintarou, Zaizen and Chitose haven't joined the club yet). The school year is just starting and Shiraishi has been appointed as the new captain of the tennis team and he's teaching his team about the basics of basics. Osamu calls all of them to tell that their club is on the edge of being shut down as the rules state that they need to get at least one first year each year... and right now they have none. So the coach makes them recruit the only first year that hasn't already gotten into a club: Zaizen Hikaru.

The team tries their best to win the guy over with their jokes and fail. Finally he agrees to come and see the practice because the vice captain of the team sort of asked him to come. So they have a doubles match to show them what kind of tennis they play. Zaizen is a natural tensai so he dominates the match on his own for a while. After the amazement they talk and Zaizen explains the reasons why he wasn't impressed by the jokes/why he didn't laugh. He also explains that if he would make a noise it would cause a dissonance. These words hit Shiraishi and he realizes that basics aren't the answer for everyone and explains that everyone should play their own tennis as they are and bring out their characters even more... and so should Zaizen as well. It's his first time saying his catchphrase "Ah, ecstasy" ... making everyone (including Zaizen) laugh.

On the second episode Shitenhouji enters the summer tournament and faces Shishigaku from Kyuushuu. The first match is Doubles 2, Shiraishi and Kenya vs. the legendary two Wings of Kyuushuu, Tachibana and Chitose. At first it seems as if Shiraishi and Kenya are in control of the match, but once Tachibana starts using his special move he's overpowered. After Tooyama Kintarou appears and says that he would try hitting each tennis balls that Tachibana's special move produces, Kenya and Shiraishi are finally able to make a comeback.

It's then when Chitose's eyesight becomes worse and Tachibana-Chitose doubles combination falls apart. After Chitose hits the net pole he gets angry at Tachibana and says that maybe they should just quit "because taking pity from your best friend is awful". Shiraishi starts mocking/taunting the two at first, but then starts talking to Chitose that he's not seeing the complete picture; that Chitose's heart is blind, not his eye. He explains that if you lack in something you should ask for help and that he just learned this himself a few months ago. Chitose is touched by the words and gets back into the game with a renewed spirit. The two doubles teams have a great match. Chitose feels bad for making Kippei do most of the work and his determination actives "Saiki kanpatsu no Kiwami" for the first time. The match ends with Shitenhouji's win. Afterwards Chitose explains that Shiraishi's words opened his heart and that thanks to Kippei causing him his eye injury, he might have gained something even better than he had before. A year later he comes to Shitenhouji to join the tennis club.

Personality:

Shiraishi is a perfectionist. Anything he does, he wants to do as flawlessly as possible. If he fails in something, he's not going to stop trying until he can master it, or at least do it so he doesn't fail with it. He has a reputation of being flawless in tennis and he doesn't want it to be just about that. He has the brains and the skills to be "perfect" and he's not afraid of trying to achieve it. While knowing perfection is an impossible goal, he still pursues it with determination. The higher the goal, the more inspired he is. Shiraishi is a boy with confidence, so if he knows how to do something, it's done with confidence in himself and with the best of his skills. There's no "if" in his books if it's something he knows his good at.

Due to studying at Shitenhouji, the school where the one who laughs is the winner, he's become naturally relaxed and cheerful. He laughs at jokes when he notices them and jokes himself... though he doesn't really know how to make people laugh. That's why he's trying to improve on joking, but seems to be failing most of the time. The only times someone actually laughs at him are when he's not joking. But he's determined to keep trying... even if some of his teammates think that he should just give up. He also has the ability to laugh at himself whenever it's needed and isn't afraid of "making a fool of himself" as it's sort of a habit at the school.

Because he's trying to become "perfect", Shiraishi has also gained some seriousness. It doesn't show too often (even if this changes when he's older), but he does has his more serious side. Training is something he's really serious about. Tennis practice at Shitenhouji can be disastrous, but he's one of the people who actually try to play tennis seriously most of the time. Even if he's still a novice captain, he tries his best to become a better leader every day.

At first Shiraishi didn't really ask for advice and didn't depend on his friends. He took everything on his own shoulders and tried to somehow manage the entire burden alone. It was after Zaizen Hikaru joined the tennis club he realized that if you lack in something, you should ask for help. He wasn't alone as he had his friends to support him. After starting to see this he became a better leader for the team, a leader who supports them, but also lets them do as their please (play their own kind of tennis instead of being stuck in the basics like he is). He also understands others quite well and is able to give brilliant encouragement speeches... and does so even to the opposing team when they seem to have trouble.

Shiraishi doesn't like showing his more serious emotions in front of others. While he does have his worries he rather keeps them inside of himself so they pile up. He would never cry in front of others because that's not the kind of a person he is. He might sometimes look sad or thoughtful, but that's the most he'll show on the more sad emotions.

... but he does openly show his confusion. Whenever something doesn't make sense he'll seem really clueless and look around puzzled. It's common for him to be muttering "Eeeh" when something confusing happens.

Strengths/Weaknesses:

+ Confidence in himself.
+ Knowledge on poisonous plants.
+ Good at making encouragement speeches.
+ Wins people easily over with said speeches.
+ Will to learn the basics and stick with them.
- ... possibly too stuck on those basics.
- Bad at joking.
- Not really clueless, but often appears to be so.
- Takes it out on himself (by training more) when losing.
- Looks like he'd be easy to fool.
+/- Really quite innocent.

[The feed opens to show a really puzzled young man. He's wearing a green and yellow jersey and has a small Budew sitting on his head. Some might recognize him from months before... but there's something odd about him isn't there?]

So... I've pretty much given up on thinking this is a dream. It hurts whenever I pinch myself and this little guy on my head is quite real... but this is just too odd to be true, too.

[Really, the whole situation defeated all logic! This wasn't something that just happened! He wouldn't even dream about Pokémon, because he was like the only kid in his school who hadn't played them. Yet here he was... in a Pokémon world.]

Right now I could also say "Guys this isn't too funny, lemme out of this place", but I don't think they're able to do stuff like this... or are they? [He thinks.] Probably not.

[He'll frown though.]

... but what am I supposed to do now? I'm supposed to be practicing for the next tournament already. And I'm missing my humour classes too...

[He'll start worrying about all sort of things on his own now so it's better to shut the gear and leave him to it, right? Yep, that's what the Budew though while jumping on the gears' buttons.]

Third Person Sample:

At Shitenhouji, you never knew when someone would pull a prank at you. It was your normal, daily life and you should just laugh about it like a good student. Really, Shiraishi Kuranosuke had prepared for several kinds of situations, so when he woke up in a strange house, on a strange bed, he was more curious than confused. What had they come up with now? This school really had no limits on what they would do.

He took the backpack with him, because it seemed to be necessary for some reason or another and started going downstairs after hearing someone calling for him... who called herself his mother. Okay, a bit odd for a joke, but Shiraishi chuckled anyway. After a small conversation Shiraishi was lead out of the house where he expected this scene come to a climax.

... but all that there was outside was a town with people and some strange creatures walking around. He frowned. Where on earth had he been taken and why would anyone go this far for a prank? He had though the house belonged to someone from the school. Well, maybe it did... on the country side? But it wasn't even vacation, why would they be there?

Something moved in the backpack. Shiraishi blinked and took a look inside. There was a red and white ball shaking slightly. He had seen this before, but couldn't quite remember what it was right away. Well, whatever it was, he was sure to know what was going on if he clicked it, right? So he took the ball and clicked the button in the middle. A strong light startled him and... a strange creature appeared.

"Budew!" said the creature with a happy smile.

"... eh?" asked Shiraishi.

Budew, apparently, continued smiling and came closer to her new owner. Shiraishi just kept looking confused and looked around. There were no signs off anyone snickering behind his back or yelling "Surprise!" And the little one didn't feel like a mechanic plushie (or something) at all. What on earth was going on?

"R-Really guys... you can come here now?" he tried. "Anytime now."

... he was alone, wasn't he?

Character
Name: Nagisa Aoi
Series: Strawberry Panic
Timeline: After episode 16
Canon Resource Links: Series | Characters | Episodes

Personality: At heart, Nagisa is a cheerful, optimistic girl. She always tries to look on the bright side of life, and while at times her optimism can be annoying, she generally has an easy time making new friends and getting along with others. She can be very trusting and always tries to see the best in others. She often comes across as naïve, and she can be ignorant of others' feelings toward her, especially romantic feelings. She's even initially ignorant of her own feelings; when she first meets Shizuma Hanazono, it's love at first sight for her, and it takes her some time to be able to actually talk to Shizuma and not just be stunned into silence by her presence, and it isn't until a good ways into the series Nagisa finally realizes that she's in love with Shizuma.

For the most part, Nagisa doesn't try to hide her emotions. Happiness, anger, confusion, embarrassment - her emotions tend to be clearly reflected on her face, whether she wants them to or not, and she's easily embarrassed when her friends tease her. There are times when Nagisa can also come across as whiny, especially when faced with a difficult problem, but she tries her best not to give up, even when she really wants to. However, when she's hit hard by a bout of depression, like when she believes the person she loves has rejected her, she tries her best to pretend to be happy, and unless she's confronted by someone really empathic, she's quite good at doing so, but she can't keep up such a façade for long.

Nagisa is easily excitable; at the beginning of the series, when she's transferring to a new school, she is nervous, but she's more excited about the prospect of exploring a whole new setting and making new friends, but this outgoingness also means that her brain can't catch up with her mouth, so she sometimes blurts out things without thinking, but she's usually quick to apologize if it's hurtful or especially stupid. She dislikes being confrontational, preferring to help others, even if she has to go out of her way to do so. She isn't afraid to show a little backbone from time to time, but that's usually when she's standing up for someone else rather than herself.

For all of her friendliness and openness, Nagisa can be quite clumsy and not very bright. Her grades, while not failing, aren't very good and she can be prone to misunderstandings and even acting on them before someone has a chance to correct her. In canon, she has to learn to understand French and how to waltz in a short period of time, but when she really tries her hardest (along with quite a bit of help from friends), she can make a plausible effort to overcoming her weaknesses.

To be blunt, Nagisa is not exactly subtle about her emotions. Upon waking up in a new world, she will be scared and disorientated, but once she gets her bearings and realize that she doesn't seem to be in danger, she'll be excited at the idea of starting a new chapter in her life. Of course, she'll still be worried about missing her friends and a whole lot of school, but she'll keep on a brave face and try to stay optimistic.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
+ Optimism; Nagisa is not someone who lets a few setbacks get her down. While she may mope sometimes, it's not long until she's back on her feet, and she tries her best to make friends and get along with others.

+ Compassionate; she'll often go out of her way to help others, and she's very trusting, preferring to see the best in others.

+ Energetic; even though she can be clumsy, she's reasonably athletic, and she's especially good at swimming and running. Even with dancing, what really gets her is the timing; she's actually a fairly decent dancer when she overcomes that flaw.

+/- Stubborn; she can be whiny at times, but most of the time she'll keep persevering no matter how many mistakes she makes or obstacles are in her way, but this also means that when she gets a misconception stuck in her head, she'll act on it before someone can correct her, which just leads to awkwardness for all involved.

- Naïve; she's ignorant about a lot of things and can come across as childish occasionally, although she becomes embarrassed when someone points this out to her. She doesn't pick up on subtle social clues easily, so it's easy for her to get the wrong idea about someone or something.

- Not very bright; her grades aren't that good. She picks up cooking and acting well enough, but when it comes to subjects like foreign languages or literature, she has a hard time understanding them. She doesn't learn well just by reading or studying.

- Easily scared; her biggest fears are the dark and ghosts, and even the mere mention of ghosts will send her into a fright. When spooked, she'll start screaming and turn into a sobbing wreck, and this only serves to tire her out even faster. She just can't handle things she can't easily see and comprehend.

First Person Sample:
[Nagisa has set her PokéGear down in front of her, and she's sitting on the ground with her Sandshrew in her lap.]

Um, is this thing on…? [Taps the screen, and then giggles.] Hello everyone! My name's Nagisa Aoi, and this here is my new partner! [She holds up her Sandshrew.] Well, that's what I've been told. My own Pokémon partner… I used to dream about having one a lot when I was a kid. And here I thought I was too old for Pokémon now!

[Her Sandshrew starts sniffing the PokéGear, and Nagisa laughs again.]

It's like a fantasy come true! Especially since it looks like I'm stuck here, eheh… Actually, how did I get here? This can't be an entirely different world, can it? Oh geez, I don't think I can afford to miss that many days of school… [She lets out a heavy sigh, but then a smile is quick to return to her lips.] But if I'm going to be here for a while, I might as well make the best of things, right?

Third Person Sample:
A world of Pokémon - even to Nagisa's overactive imagination it almost seemed too much to believe. Was she dreaming? She had to be; there was no way she could've left her Miator dorm room and landed in a video game of all things.

Except right now all evidence pointed to the impossible - both that strange device - a PokéGear, was it? - and that woman who had called herself "Mom" had told Nagisa the same thing: that it was time for her to set out on her Pokémon journey. And no matter what Nagisa asked, they just kept repeating themselves, so Nagisa just nodded slowly and decided to attempt to explore her new surroundings.

Now she stood outside the house she had woken up in, with her new Sandshrew standing by her side. She looked up at the clear blue sky, shielding her eyes from the sun. At least the weather was nice, she thought as she inhaled a deep breath. Even the air seemed fresher here. And maybe it was just her imagination, but she could almost swear she also heard music…

Shaking her head slightly to clear her thoughts, Nagisa kneeled down and gently patted the Sandshrew's head. "I guess we're partners now, huh?" she said, a smile forming on her lips. "So let's do our best, all right?"

The Sandshrew merely cooed in response, but it seemed just as eager as Nagisa was.

She couldn't help but giggle. "Hm, you need a name," she said, holding up her PokéGear. "This thing says you're a girl, so let's see… oh, how about Carmen? Well, maybe it's not that fitting, but me and my friends just finished putting on that play yesterday!" She put her Gear back into her bag and then scooped the Sandshrew into her arms. "From today onwards, your name is now Carmen!" Her smile widened as she straightened her back, and the newly-named Carmen let out an appreciative yip.

"Oh, you really like that name, huh? That's good!" Nagisa replied, and she felt as if her nerves were finally beginning to settle. She shifted Carmen to her left arm and then reached into her pocket with her right hand and pulled out a map, shaking it to unfurl it. "Okay, according to that lady we're right now in New Bark Town. Now, where should we go first…?"

As she looked over the map, she felt as if her eyes were beginning to cross. This region was a lot bigger than she imagined, and none of these names sounded familiar. Letting out a heavy sigh, she glanced down at her Sandshrew. "Looks like it's going to be a long journey, doesn't it?" she said with an awkward smile, and Carmen merely nodded in response.

Character
Name: Alpha Hatsuseno
Series: Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou
Timeline: Post Chapter 6, Volume 14
Canon Resource Links: Not much is known about Alpha’s past. All we have been able to find out, so far, is that she is an android of the A7 series and, more specifically, a prototype of the A7-M2 model (very few were in production) one of the first in the A7 series, thus her name Alpha. Her last name, Hatsuseno, is the last name of her owner who is never seen within the series (though heard in a dream once). However, this manga does not have a set plotline, instead choosing to show a slice of life within every chapter, though they still connect in the way that the two children Alpha meets grow up and move away throughout the manga. It is during their lives that Alpha matures and grows with her own life experiences with these kids, the environment around her, and her customers that she meets. The setting of this story is that some kind of catastrophe has happened long ago on the planet Earth and as a result, humanity is slowly, but surely, dying off. The planet itself is changing as seen in the lush scenery of flooded towns, roads, and nature taking back her land. However, humanity itself still thrives as they slowly die off, choosing to go out peacefully, rather than with the usual panic and mayhem we see in apocalyptic/post-apocalyptic settings.

Hopefully this link will give you a better idea as well.

Personality: Unlike most cheerful characters, Alpha has the ability to be sweet without over doing it. She has a very pleasant demeanor that has won her several friends from just about everyone not to mention a few loyal customers that visit her Café. However, she is somewhat of a sheltered person and can be socially awkward due to her inexperience with other people and, in general, the life all around her. However, she was aware of this. When her owner left to travel, she opted to stay behind to look after the café. She wanted to experience more before she set out into the world, so to speak. She also grows attached to her human friends, from Ojisan and Sensei, to the little Takahiro and Maki. She continues to stay attached even as they grow older and move away to live their lives. Despite her inexperience, it’s fairly obvious that Alpha views the world in the Japanese tradition of what is known as “mono no aware”, the sadness of the transience of things. It’s due to her immortality as a robot and the sad fact that, while peacefully, humanity is dying. Soon only she and the other robots will be left along with Mother Nature as she takes back her land.

This decision benefitted her more than she realized, though she soon figured it out later on. As she learns and grows from the people she meets, she gains much more confidence in herself, allowing her to grow socially and not be so awkward. However, despite her awkwardness, she is quite thoughtful, often showing a maturity that is only seen during the chapters where she is alone, rather than with others. Whether this is due to the fact that she is immortal and thus thinks about the things around more than we realize or if it was due to her growth throughout the manga is up to the viewer (as with many things in this manga).

Alpha also has an amusing affinity for fish, often carving fish designs in her spare time. She also likes to tinker around machines, often cleaning her scooter or playing with an old plane engine. A unique thing about her is that her is that she is able to induce tears using her eye moisturizers, something she was not aware of until she was struck by lightning and found herself touched by the kindness she was given by Sensei (a doctor who treats both robots and humans) and Ojisan (he found her and brought her to Sensei). Of course, when her hair was redone due to the lightning strike and it hadn’t had time to settle she found another reason to cry. From embarrassment! Also, Alpha is unable to process animal protein of any kind. She can’t even have milk! Though her friend, Kokone, tried to help by giving her some rum and having her mix a little bit of milk in it. It worked, though only for a short while. Alpha over indulged a little (and she can’t handle liquor very well).

When her owner leaves and see sets out onto her first trip to Yokohama, that’s where she meets Ojisan, the owner of the gas station she stops at. This is where it is revealed that she likes being alone and doesn’t completely understand the world around her. But Ojisan takes a liking to her a vice-versa, she often stops at the gas station to have a chat with him.

Later on, she meets his grandson, Takahiro. He and his friend Maki are the kids she grows attached to the most, often going out with them to play by the beach or simply visiting them. They are the ones who seemingly teach Alpha how to act without the awkwardness as she learns (and is suitably amazed) but she displays a thoughtfulness that shows how observant she is. This is seen during the panels that show practically no dialogue, only scenes and scenery. She also learns more about herself as a robot after she meets Sensei, the doctor who took care of her when she was struck by lightning, because Sensei was involved in the creation of the A7 series. When around Sensei, she is usually very polite and formal, though she grows a little out of this the more times she spends with the older woman.

However, it’s Kokone, a fellow robot, that shows the true Alpha the most. It was here that she learns that having green hair and purple eyes was sign of being a robot thus quite strange (she didn’t think so until she met Kokone). All robots have different color hair like this. It’s also Kokone who becomes one of her best friends, telling her stories about the city that she lives in and more about humans. She also simply loves spending time with Kokone, as they have much more in common than anyone else Alpha has met.

Alpha is always eager to learn and grow, to experience new things and this is perhaps her motivating factor in life. She can tell when she won't be getting any customers and she doesn't mind, she will simply do what she wants during those days, whether its tuning up her scooter or going to the gas station to eat some watermelons with Ojisan.

To her customers, she's a bit of an odd barista. She will serve you probably the best coffee ever (or tea if she runs out of coffee beans) and then she will sit with you. Usually it's silent, but it always makes the customer question if she does this all the time. She will always laugh sheepishly but then a conversation is born. Once in awhile, she won't sit with her customers but quietly observe them. She simply loves to know more about who she serves and sometimes, simple watching is enough.

First Person Sample: [This little town reminded her so much of the many little towns, other than Yokohama, that she had traveled to on her journey so many years ago. It was quaint, cute, and quiet. In it's own way, at least.

She raised a hand to the camera.]

Yo! [She laughed and smiled] My name is Alpha. I... don't really know what happened, I was just on my way to Yokohama for some more coffee beans...

[She would have preferred her scooter too. :|]

But that's okay! It'll just be another adventure! But, er, could someone tell me what's going on? I don't... have a mom, so I don't know why that lady was calling herself my mother. Robots don't really have moms...

Psy!

Oh! And this one, what's this? She's been following me around...

Anyway, some help would be great, thanks!

Third Person Sample: Alpha decided to name her Psyduck Makki. The duck, despite the headache she always had, followed her around. Just like her friend Makki did with Takahiro when they were kids. It was cute, really. It also distracted her from something that had been on her mind since arriving here.

She wasn't a robot anymore. It was weird. Alpha didn't really feel any different, perhaps a bit more tired than usual. She was getting hungry faster, things like that. Those who had made her really made all the androids as human as possible. While they all knew what they were, they didn't feel any different. It was difficult to explain, but right now, she wasn't really having a crisis about it more so than just wondering what she was suppose to do with herself now.

She bent down to the Psyduck. "Well, I guess you and I have quite the journey ahead of us! Let's do our best!"

Makki tilted her head. "Psy..."

Alpha giggled. This little duck monster was cute! It made her feel bad about the headache she had... maybe Alpha could find some medicine in the next town! There was suppose to be a Pokemon Center and such like that, right? It only stood to reason that they would have medicine for creatures such as the one she got. Caffeine was always good for headaches too, maybe she could find some coffee beans in a store and make a good cup of coffee!

...did Pokemon drink coffee? Hm, she should probably ask about that first. Alpha didn't want to accidentally poison the little creature. She would have to remember to ask the store clerk when she got to the next town. Which reminded her, she needed to look at the map! Alpha stopped where she was, Makki bumping into her calf as she pulled out her PokeGear from her pocket to get the map. These phones were so interesting! Advanced and high tech, it took a few tries to figure out how to work it. But soon enough, she had the map and a path drawn out.

Alpha looked down at Makki. "Okay! Let's go! To Cherrygrove City we go!"

"...duck."

Character
Name: Ritsuka Aoyagi
Series: Loveless
Timeline: Befoire he arrives at Gora.
Canon Resource Links:
Wikia

Personality:

Ritsuka has a quite complex personality. He is once cheerful child when he was young but everything changed after his brother’s death two years ago. Mostly his personality develops at this point.

Ritsuka is a person doesn’t like to talk much especially to strangers. He’s being on his own, keeping his distance from them, even though people are trying to make friends with him (because he’s cute. No doubt about that.), but it turns out he rejected them with his rudeness, which caused his first friend; Yuiko to cry. However, when he meets his therapist, his personality turns back to his old self. Being cheerful and talkative, like an ordinary kid. It’s probably because she knows him too well.

It’s quite hard to make him be friends with them, unless someone triggers his interest. Take Soubi for example, he’s the first stranger and ‘adult’ that talked to him in front of the school. As Soubi mentioned Ritsuka’s brother’s name; Seimei, Ritsuka will jumps in excitement and automatically friends with him. How’s that simple?

Subject that he’s major at school is math. He can get perfect score in this subject. In the opposite, he’s not good with art, however, he likes to take pictures since before he transferred to the new school. Taking pictures is partly his hobby to make memories. He collects them, stores them into his computer, even making backups. There’s also few pictures collected in his room, so he’ll never forget them, as he’s afraid to lose his ‘old self’.

Aside of from school and relationships, he can deal with his abusive mother. No matter how hard she hits him, he doesn’t fight back. He thinks it’s partly his fault because he doesn’t becoming his old self from two years ago as his mother wants. If he does things wrong again, she will starts hitting him, which caused him sticks few bandages on his face and body. He loves his mother no matter what, as long this brings them closer.

Ritsuka is pacifist. He won’t hit everyone even though he’s pissed for some reasons. He doesn’t mind he’s getting abused by his mother, but doesn’t want to do the same to the others. There’s a part of him being kind-hearted. Sometimes, when someone who closes to him got hurt, he would blame for himself because of being late, or didn’t take attention to them. As some people trying to cause a fight that includes him, he will stop them in any cost. At one time when Soubi tried to kill their enemy, Ritsuka ordered him to stop and let them go. Because killing people won’t change anything, it isn’t his style at all.

Strengths/Weaknesses:

Strengths:

Ritsuka got endurance, and extremely independent for such a child his age. He may not be physically strong due to his child appearances, but he can deal with one or two blows, or hit by glass bottle, or get drowned. Name one. He won't complain, at least from his mother. Obviously by just looking at him, Ritsuka is an adorable child. Everyone can admit that. When Ritsuka was transferred into his new school, everyone didn't take their eyes from him. Even his teacher, or even his therapist.

Ritsuka is cautious than being careless, because he’s an independent boy, not all people around him is safe, unless he can trust that person. Knowledge-wise, he is ace at math. He can get perfect score on this subject, and possibly enough he can be math-genius when he goes to high school. Ritsuka can cook something basic for morning breakfast. If he doesn’t, he would go for McDonalds. He went there a lot after school.

Weaknesses:

Ritsuka is just your average kid. He has cat ears and tail although he doesn’t have them anymore in Pokemon world, but that doesn’t change much like other ordinary kids. Ritsuka might be rude to new people since after the incident two years ago, which made him less friendly and doesn’t have much friends. They most likely are going to take awhile to make him trust them. The other way of rudeness, when his friend was threaten badly. This caused him to tell them to go die.

One thing about Ritsuka when people are bringing up Seimei’s name, he’s extremely alert. Not because he hates that name. It’s because he loves his brother so much. Seimei is everything to him. He is his hero, savior, protector, everything. In future, he wants to be exactly like him. If people are starting to threaten Seimei, Ritsuka will protest and threaten them back. Behind his nickname ‘Loveless’, it has its meaning. Ritsuka is lack of love and doesn’t know how to confront this feeling. Even though Soubi stole his first kiss, this makes things more confusing for him.

Character
Name: Shouichi "Capt" Kazama
Series: Maji de Watashi ni Koi Shinasai! (Majikoi)
Timeline: Post Prologue
Canon Resource Links: Series + Capt himself
Personality:
Majikoi has all sorts of bizarre characters to bring to the table. One of the most bizarre ones is Shouichi himself. To be describing Shouichi’s role, he happens to be the leader of the "Kazama Family". Thanks to him and Yamato’s strong friendship and interactions in the past, they ended up gathering up a group of childhood friends. Now one of the first things you'll notice about him is that he's very spontaneous and unpredictable. For example, Capt will decide for himself if he wants to go to school or not. While some may frown upon that, Shouichi claims that he wants to become an adventurer in the future, so he doesn’t have any need for school grades. Sometimes, he'll go out on long and dangerous journeys without telling anyone where he's been until he randomly returns. He could travel across Japan for a week and return in someone's room after those events. Yamato and his friends tend to worry about his behavior since Shouichi doesn’t seem to fear anything. He’s literally a man who wants to live for the moment and throws everything to chance. If the good wind rises, he’ll ride it. If it’s a bad wind, he’ll find a way to turn it into a good one. It's sometimes hard to predict Shouichi's personality or what he’ll even do next. He even goes as far as to call himself "the wind". When he talks about his family, we learn that even his mother and father are super spontaneous. With his father being an adventurer, it could be implied that Shouichi wants to follow in his footsteps and live life freely. And even his mother allows him to live in a dorm along with his friends for the sake of building his independence. While Shouichi does enjoy hanging out with his friends, he does know how to be a one-man band every now and then. That’s not to say that he’s an introverted person since he’s definitely one of the friendliest guys you’ll ever meet. And while he can be an idiot, he’s smarter than he appears. For example, he actually enjoys reading and even works at a book store. He knows how to manage money for himself and he’s even done multiple part-time jobs. However, he’s not the type of person to hold onto a job for long. If he decides that he gets bored of his job, he leaves it. Because of his charismatic and active personality, he’s regarded as the hero of Kawakami and even treated like the protagonist at times. (Even though, Yamato is actually the protagonist in the game.)

Now Shouichi does have his flaws which can be easy to point out. He’s not too complicated to figure out. For example, even though he goes out of his way to help out people, he can have ulterior motives at times. One situation was when he ended up beating up a criminal and getting on the news for capturing him. While people had seen the act as heroic, Shouichi actually beat him up because he bought a special breakfast right before him. And another example, he ended up saving a cat in a river and hoped that it belonged to someone rich enough to give him money. Which leads to another thing, Shouichi enjoys gambling and betting. While he’s not as cunning and sly as Yamato, he can be clever and knows how to take advantage of moments to get some extra bucks. Whenever the students are planning to have a duel amongst one another, he comes along and start opening up bets for people. And also, he can be really dense towards people’s emotions and not be able to read the mood in important situations. This can apply to girls since he’s really popular with them, but Shouichi doesn’t show any interest in them. He may throw compliments and kind statements, but he’s oblivious to romantic feelings in general. That’s not to say that he can’t fall in love with someone. Near the end of Momoyo’s route, he ended up falling in love with Momoyo out of nowhere after seeing her blush from Yamato’s present. While this did become a problem for Yamato, it doesn’t last for long since Yamato still wins over Momoyo in the end. If Shouichi became aware of his romantic feelings sooner, he would’ve been more of threat to Yamato because of how persistent he can be.

And speaking of persistence! Shouichi loves his role as the leader and hero of the group. Back in his childhood days, Momoyo had challenged him to a fight for the sake of claiming his position. Even after getting nearly hospitalized, Shouichi never gave in and wanted to keep his role. He even went as far to say as "he wouldn’t be himself anymore" if Momoyo had taken it up. Because of his willpower, she gave up and decided to let him keep his role as leader. And on another note, he never gives up on people... No matter what! If someone is down in the dumps, he’ll find a way to cheer them up. He’s far too optimistic to get down in the dumps for too long. He may be childish enough to hold small and petty grudges, but he’ll never hold any big ones that will destroy friendships. He's lenient and forgiving towards people who deserve it. He can be a little too honest with others at times as well. For example, he might try to sugarcoat a statement at someone, but it will still come out bluntly. And he can throw small and childish fits of anger when someone stands out more than him, but he can know when to suck it up and accept second best. Now while Shouichi does act selfishly sometimes, he really does have a kind heart and he deeply cares for his friends. For example, he'll always bring food to Friday meetings with everyone or come up with fun games to keep everyone entertained. You could say that he really enjoys being in the spotlight and shows no shame in it.

[Hello there, Johto! It looks like there's someone who’s sitting in a high place. If you're in the area, you’ll find a handsome young man who’s sitting in a tree and he looks content. If there are any trademarks to go by, it’s the bandana on his head. He’s just cheerfully saluting at the feed.]

Yo, everyone! Capt speaking! The wind is feelin' pretty good today, so I’m really enjoying the nice weather. I don't really know how long it's going to take to reach the next town, but I’m not complaining at all. Men have to enjoy the journey over getting to the destination. There's allll sorts of neat Pokemon that I've been seeing along the way too. It's too bad that I don't have enough Pokeballs on me to catch 'em all.

Ah, but when I hit up the next town... I should take on the gym leader! Some advice wouldn’t hurt for how they fight and maybe some job information too! I'll accept anything that sounds interesting enough, so lay them on me while I--

[Then cue the sounds of Beedrills coming in the distance. A normal person would sound afriad... Capt, however, looks EXCITED with flames in his eyes and all.]

--Eh? Ohhh, it’s my old friends~! Gaha! It's perfect timing for some training!! I’d love to chat, but first, I've got some business to take care of from a long ways back! Ciao! [And off goes the feed.]

Third Person Sample:

It was man versus nature.

Every trainer knew that the standard method to capturing a Pokemon was to get your Pokemon to battle it, weaken it, use your Pokeball and capture it for a flawless victory. However, Shouichi wasn’t your average trainer. You could say that he was so smart that he went right into stupid... Or he was just being plain stupid. Instead of going for the standard method, he decides to go for it on his own way. Right now, he wanted something cool and awesome for now. If it looked weak, then he would make a man out of it. He could've let his own Pokemon out for a battle, but he wanted to size it up for himself first...

The young man in the red bandana had lurked in the tall grass and grinned to himself. His target was quietly eating berries to itself while not suspecting anything. His instincts had told him that he would catch this Pokemon and those had never proved him wrong. There wasn't a strong wind today, so that would work to his advantage. Instead of jumping out straightforward to catch it with his arms, he had another plan...

"Heh~ Let me show you a cool ninja trick..." Shouichi had taken out a homemade smoke bomb from his pocket and toss it gently towards the Pokemon. Suddenly, smoke had filled the field and caught it by surprise! This could be a tactic that you would've expected from a Team Rocket member, but that wasn't the case at all. Much to the Pokemon’s surprise, it was suddenly greeted by a yell.

"HERE I COOOOOOME!!! GET READY TO BE CAUGHT BY MEEEE!!" Of course, his plan was to start off with a sneaky smoke bomb tactic and then jump in to attack it himself. This would've been more successful if Shouichi could only hold back his excitement. The Pokemon had dodged his lunge and ran out of the smoke cloud. After some grumbling from Shouichi, he had waited for the smoke to clear and dramatically stood off against his furry opponent. With a smirk, he bravely pointed towards it.

"Sorry about this, but there's no escaping the wind. It would be a lot easier if we could just casually become friends, but it looks like you won’t be backing down without a fight." And with a pause as to confirm the passionate look in the Pokemon's eyes... Our heroic captain had responded with a similar feeling. His heart was burning with excitement and so was the furry target's.

"Heh heh! I already want you all the more! If you really want to become my companion, then show me your fighting spirt!!" He didn't want a half-assed battle, but an all-out one. It was all about pushing forward, no matter what. He was going to keep going, going, going, going and going until he finally gotten that Pokemon. It wasn't like Shouichi was planning on sleeping tonight, anyway. Whenever it was time for him to take a nap, he would just relax by the river.

Once the Pokemon had turned around to run, Shouichi had decided to run after it. The wild chase had began and the shouts of the boisterous male and the Pokemon had filled the skies of Johto...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tohru_Honda
http://fruitsbasket.wikia.com/wiki/Tohru
http://fruitsbasket.wikia.com/wiki/Volume_1

Personality: Tohru is exceedingly kind, polite, selfless, and what most people might describe as chronically optimistic (No, REALLY, she is.) for someone who others usually feel was given a really crappy hand in life. In particular there are two events and their repercussions that have left a pretty big impact on her.

First her father died when she was three. Tohru claimed not to have many memories of him at first, but this is actually a lie. She remembers him, she was just too young at the time, and ended up thinking of him as a villain who wanted to steal her mother away from her as well. She states that she remembers he was actually a loving person and he bought her presents, he was very kind. She even adopted his way of speaking politely (but “oddly”) after his death as a means of "replacing" him for her mother's sake. Her mother had become depressed, devastated by the loss of her husband, and began to unintentionally neglect Tohru. During the time when Kyoko was going through said depression Tohru was cared for by her paternal grandfather on and off, developing a close relationship with him. It's unclear how long things remained that way before Kyoko finally recovered, but Tohru persisted with these habits for years and years, long after the fear of losing her mother faded.

After she lost her last remaining parent (Shortly after starting high school) she vowed that her mother would always be the most important person in her life, fearing that she'd be forgotten if Tohru didn't keep her closest in her heart. Her most cherished posession is the photo that she carries with her at all times. She has one photograph of her in her wallet and at least one or two others in a picture frame. Tohru can always be found with one or the other and she speaks to them at least twice a day. She greets her mother in the morning and from time to time she'll also hold one sided conversations with her throughout the day. Her devotion to her mother is borderline obsessive, not that anyone could REALLY fault her for it. She even goes to quite the extreme lengths to try to protect her mother's photographs. Misplacing the photos, having them taken, or losing them will only end up upsetting Tohru. She sometimes refers to Kyoko's photos as though Kyoko were still a living person whose well being she's worried for.

Tohru idolizes her mother, even the fact that she was once an infamous Yankee! Because her mother was so casual Tohru takes a very relaxed approach when paying respects to her (Having a picnic on her grave when she and her friends go to visit comes to mind.), though she would probably be much more more reserved when it comes to others. The surest way to upset this girl is by talking ill of Kyoko (or anyone that she loves). I believe that it's because Kyoko used to be a gang member that Tohru doesn't even think twice about what things people do. Yes, it's horrible when someone is attacked and hurt but you won't find Tohru judging the attacker. She's more likely to confess that she doesn't understand why they would do such a thing. When speaking to others she'll often quote some bit of advice or wisdom that Kyoko passed onto her when she was still alive. Tohru's own attempts at doing the same tend to come across a little silly, humorous, or nonsensical, especially if she's attempting to quote modern trends in the process. So much of Tohru's personality is defined by the relationship with her mother, even aspects of her day to day life. None the less--

One of the more minor and quirky side affect of Kyoko's depression was that Tohru formed irregular habits about watching television. Her mother would usually channel surf rather than settling on one station, Tohru never really developed a taste for TV from that since she didn't get much chance to. She isn't very concerned with keeping up with pop-culture, and enjoys the simple things in life instead. Even so every now and then she'll make a passing reference to something she saw on TV once, like an ad, but it's apparent that she doesn't really watch it.

Being orphaned didn't seem to ruin her disposition on life, she still considers herself blessed even though the loss was a devastating one. She still has her grandfather, Uotani and Hanajima, and then she met the Sohma's, after all. Though she still carries the scars from her mother's death, now and then when she feels like she's letting her mother down she reflects on the guilt she feels for not being able to even wake up to tell her to have a good day and be safe. To some degree Tohru feels like it's her fault that her mother died. Since her mother wanted it Tohru also vowed that she would absolutely graduate from high school, do her best, and be herself. She works hard, TOO hard sometimes (getting sick between studies and her job), to finish school in honor of her promise and holds the lessons that she was taught close to her heart.

Generally Tohru is actually pretty simple in her straightforwardness and easy enough to figure out if you get the chance to get to know her and pay attention when you do. She doesn't try to hide who she is, she's eager to lend a helping hand no matter who needs it, and she's unerringly forgiving. When it comes to making friends Tohru is very outgoing and doesn't hesitate to offer her friendship to anyone that would have her. Her heart is large, welcoming, and right on her sleeve most of the time, too, so you can count on her to be genuine even if she's maybe trying to put on a brave front. She believes that everyone has some special quality that sets them apart from others; she also believes that there's good in every single person.

Her sense of modesty and humble attitude seem to know no bounds. She's both hesitant and flat out insistent that she does not deserve more than what she already has, but can easily be persuaded to accept them anyway if convinced that doing so is actually for the benefit of the person gifting her. After that the giver will find that they have her undying gratitude, even if it's something as simple as a book or hair ribbon. This is exemplified by the fact that Tohru was living in a tent in the woods because she couldn't take the idea of inconveniencing her friends (who already had a full house or tense living situations) or worrying her grandfather while his home was being renovated; not only that but except for said grandfather the immediate members of her father's family are real jerks. She ultimately agreed to stay with the Sohma's after it was decided that she could act as a live in housekeeper.

By nature Tohru is very trusting and forgiving, and honestly she’s a bit naïve, or at the very least she can SEEM it. She has a tendency to ease her way into most people's good graces simply by being her. Obviously people who find Tohru's personality type to be annoying aren't going to be affected by her charm, but in addition to being easy to please and get along with Tohru can be persistent and patient if the situation seems to warrant it. She can seemingly win over even the most unlikely of friends with her sincerity.  Even after how horribly her friends have been treated and she herself she still wants to extend the hand of friendship to someone in need, despite the fact that they were the person that wronged them. When her friendship is rejected she only comes back patiently to try again several times, persistent and patient. She holds no grudges over things from the past, not towards anyone. It pays off in the end.

Character
Name: Edward Elric
Series: Fullmetal Alchemist
Timeline: After returning from Briggs
Canon Resource Links: Link!

Personality:

Confident as he is, Ed carries a lot of guilt and insecurity in all of his cockiness. As much as his determination and stubborness can be related to the trials he goes through during his childhood, there is also evidence to support it being an inherent part of Ed's personality. As it was his idea, Edward blames himself for the human transmutation and the disastrous results it caused - even though Al assumes the blame as well. Despite being rather self-absorbed in a number of ways - his goal and desires tend to come first, regardless of the warnings given to him about their danger - doing what's right is a big priority for him. Edward believes in always moving forward, imposing this belief upon others during trying times in their lives the same way Mustang expected it of him when he was devastated by the tragic loss of Nina.

First and foremost, his strongest trait could easily be labeled as loyalty - as above all else, Edward's first priority is family. As a child his interest in alchemy only multiplied with the pleasure his mother had found in their work. His dedication to making her happy and seeking praise was tireless, even after she was taken by illness. This mindset can also be attributed to Alphonse, he has an intense bond to his brother that others might call obsessive, willing to risk life and limb - literally - for his brother's well being. During the failed transmutation when Ed realizes that not only did he fail to bring back their mother, he lost his brother in the process, he offers everything he has by screaming, 'my arm, my heart, take anything you want-' in order to get him back. This mindset is demonstrated several times throughout the series as Ed is always thinking of him first, even at the risk of the older boy's own life.

Ed's biggest weaknesses can also be found in his brother, for this very same reason - quick to offer himself and sacrifice anything to fix or save his brother, Ed never thinks of his own health or safety when it comes to protecting Al. Going so far as to allow Scar to murder him in exchange for his brother's safety. This is a risky venture that Ed partakes in a little too often, especially in the manga series where Al's connection to their world is Ed's own life, indicating that if Ed were to die Al would as well - the physical tie keeping his soul to the armor lost. He'll gladly endanger himself to protect a loved one or innocent drawn into the cross-fire, as demonstrated with Winry, when he jumps between her and Scar without hesitation - but for his brother he'd die without a thought and has shown evidence of such again and again. Ed is a quick thinker, a problem solver, and calculating even under pressure. However, no matter how level-headed he may be in other situations, Al in danger automatically erases any trace of rational thought from his mind, instantly putting him in just as much - if not more - danger than anyone else involved.

Edward can easily be thrown for a loop or taken advantage of with the right amount of damage to his pride. It doesn't take much to rile him up if the right buttons are pushed, which is something an enemy can easily use to distract him and gain the upper hand. Although these situations are generally temporary, a moment of yelling before he's back to working out the best way out of his current siuation. He is also, for all of his cynicism, sometimes naive and even too trusting. Ed takes people at face value, and although he's usually the first one to smell a rat with most individuals, he takes his enemy's words for truth and would also never suspect someone that he does trust. In the manga it takes Edward a little longer to be able to put two and two together, deducing Tucker's actions but even with someone he had trusted, Ed shows keen eye for detail others might have missed. He's also quick to take his enemy's words at face value, indicated primarily in the manga where not only does he trust Greed, who could arguably not be seen as an enemy, he also believes that the homunculi will not let him die, based on their word. At one point he uses himself as bait against Scar to draw them out, showing to what degree he truly believes they would protect him.

Although potentially naive at times, Ed is also a realist and can be very brash and cynical as seen when meeting Rose. He comes off as sarcastic or bitter around strangers, acts with a total disregard to authority and he's quick to jump to the defensive, snapping at anyone - even those close to him - for even the smallest (or imagined) slight, also oftentimes having a total disregard for authority. Not that any of this stops him from being a caring individual, both sensitive to other's feelings and even sweet to those he develops any level of concern about, given the right circumstances. Edward also happens to be an optimist - even when he gives up, the right words or amount of time has him back on his feet, ready to try again. Despite the maturity that Edward develops at a young age - he is also occasionally capable of extremely childish behavior, even if the older he gets the less prone he is to these outbursts, comments on his height or attempts to get him to drink milk are generally responded to with negative (sometimes violent) reactions. Although in the manga Ed doesn't mature quite in the same way as the original anime series, never completley losing that comedic side - he does still grow considerably more serious with age.

Even though he has an ego that boasts of self importance, he carries an ill-concealed insecurity about a lot of things under that attitude. As much as he seeks praise and recognition around strangers, in the confidence of those he trusts it's much more obvious that he feels unworthy of any ego stroking. Ed shoulders the blame of everything that's gone wrong in his past, and given time to dwell on it, can let the guilt of previous actions consume him.

Strengths/Weaknesses:

I've already elaborated on Ed's strengths and weaknesses within his personality section, particularly in these paragraphs:

Ed's biggest weaknesses can also be found in his brother, for this very same reason - quick to offer himself and sacrifice anything to fix or save his brother, Ed never thinks of his own health or safety when it comes to protecting Al. Going so far as to allow Scar to murder him in exchange for his brother's safety.

At one point he uses himself as bait against Scar to draw them out, showing to what degree he truly believes they would protect him.

Additional information:

Ed's a quick learner, tactile and studious. He thinks on his feet under pressure (most of the time) and more often than not he does it outside the box, continuing to remain optimistic despite every wall he comes to. He's dedicated, determined and loyal. He makes fast friends off the bat, even sometimes with his 'enemies' showing that he's more than capable of adapting to change. Edward is skilled in martial arts training and a natural in alchemy, able to decode the work of others in a considerably short amount of time.

He's a genius, which has it's pros and cons and due to the human transmutation commited as a child, Ed is equipped with two automail limbs. Although this makes his arm and leg less suseptible to injury it does make him hot or cold much easier than your average human - seeing as he's half metal. It's also something that can be used against him, as he's easily left helpless by removing the fake limbs. Aside from all that another downside of the automail is his inability to swim with it, as the weight alone would drag him under water.

Edward has a short temper, a set mind and a stubborn streak. He's loud, brash and rude - easily overlooked due to his size throughout most of the series he's got a reason to be a little resentful of remarks, but it can definitely leave him open to attack if he's not careful. Ed is sometimes naive and idealisitc, refusing to kill anyone even at the risk of his own life - which nearly kills him thanks to Kimblee in later chapters.

[Something about pokemon is muttered under his breath, as if more to himself than meant to be broadcasted. However after a moment, the room shifts. Some might recognize the face that appears on the screen, wide gold eyes being the first thing that comes into view. He looks a little bewildered, looking around the small room he's in curiously]

Hey- this thing works like a phone, right? Can someone hear me?

This has to be some sort of joke.... [And his tone reveals just how funny he thinks it is.] There's no- weird little animal in this room, it's just me. Look, I'm obviously not supposed to be here, if I didn't get one of those- monsters or whatever, right?

All right, I need to find a way to get back where I came from. I don't have time for any of this- [whatever the hell this is.]

So who can help me out? I need to figure out the quickest way out of here.

Third Person Sample:

Ed jerks upright in bed with a startled sound, glancing around the room he was now occupying in surprise. Last time he checked he was in Winry's room, and honestly he'd been close enough to getting beaten to death that maybe waking up somewhere else was clear indication of how much damage she'd actually done. He lifted his left hand to his head, checking for damage before determining he was relatively fine.

Which left him with the question of where the hell he was. He tugged the sheets aside, jumping out of bed and looking around the room he now found himself in, in confusion - glancing out the window to see if he could determine his surroundings. Seeing as that didn't really help him figure anything out, he moved on to the next best thing. Exploring the room that he was in, assuring that there were no immediate threats around him and hunting through the bag that was left in the room with him.

Only none of this made sense.

No matter how much of the information he went over, or how many times he read it - it just didn't add up. How did he get here, what was he doing here- and how was he supposed to get back to Al while stuck here?

"Pokemon-?" He muttered, looking over the information warily before setting the bag aside again. This whole situation was ridiculous, and he didn't have time for it. "All right..." He had no idea where he was, or what he was doing here, but there had to be an explanation somewhere and he certainly wasn't getting it staying in this room. Pulling the 'Gear out of the bag once more he went through the information, the clothes, the supplies all over again and sat on the bed - beside the weird rock that had been left at the foot there.

"Hey- this thing works like a phone, right? Can someone hear me...?"

Character
Name: Sola-Ui Nuada-Re Sophia-Ri
Series: Fate/Zero
Timeline: Just before Maiya is captured.
Canon Resource Links: Sola-Ui's page at the Type Moon wiki! Other information about the series can be found here also.

Personality: As befitting a magus of a long-lasting family of magic-users, Sola-Ui has both the pride and dedication expected of her. A woman who is often seen as cold and calculating, she can easily be said to have the temperament necessary to enter the Fourth Holy Grail War. On top of this, Sola-Ui holds a tactical prowess that easily belittles her intended husband's. Because of both this and her cutting derisiveness, it's easy for her to dominate her weaker partner. The novel describes her as "high-class", and indeed, this is the impression that can easily be seen from her. Her words are ever-cold and often formal, never using bad language even at the height of her rage. Temperamental though she is, she fulfils the role of both instructer and commander, despite not officially holding the second role.

As a member of the Sophia-Ri family, Sola-Ui has a large amount of knowledge of magecraft and a keen tactical sense, as well as the elegant and dominating attitude that comes with the territory. She is able even to override a powerful Master such as Kayneth Archibald El-Melloi with a look and a stern word. Far from being shy, she will never fail to interject her own views and will cut down even her future husband's protests when she feels she's in the right. Essentially, she drives over them with her words as if they were a steamroller, accepting no argument and freely mocking them to their face. There is only one thing that can metaphorically bring her to her knees.

Diarmuid Ua Duibhne.

Thanks to Diarmuid's curse, Sola-Ui grew steadily less focused on the war and more focused on him over time. As the one who supplied him with the prana he required to remain materialised. Ever-critical and derisive of Kayneth's cowardly methods, she was the one who drove him the most in his determination to win the war. Partly to prove himself superior to her -- and partly to overcome his supicions about Lancer. And right those suspicions were; as time passed, Sola-Ui's cursed love grew into an overwhelming obsession. Her dutiful following of her husband for the sake of her family twisted to the point where she willfully snapped off his fingers after he was disabled by Kiritsugu and threatened to kill him if he did not give her his command spells and allow her to take over Lancer.

However even that did not ease her obsession.

Lancer's loyalty to her husband drove her wild with frustration and disappointment, however she was able to delude herself enough to keep her happy. Staying by his side like glue, she was only with reluctance persuaded to stay out of the battlefield and let him handle Caster. This was the obsessive love that the curse of Diarmuid invoked in her. That Sola-Ui Nuada-Re Sophia-Ri, who describes herself as being "frozen", would burn with desire for a long-dead spirit - and would die for it.
Strengths/Weaknesses: Officially, her profile in the character book states that her strengths are "Criticizing others' cooking" and "Complaining to Customer Service". Other than those little gems, however, her strengths and weaknesses shown in the novel and anime are:

    • Strategy. Out of all of "Team Lancer", Sola-Ui shows the most capability for this. However, she loses her head when it comes to Lancer.
She is essentially the most determined of the group; and the most willing to sacrifice for their goals.
From her dialogue, it seems she has never felt fondly upon another person before Lancer. As a result, she finds it both difficult and unrewarding to befriend others, making them expendable.
Sola dislikes the idea of being just a carrier for the next generation.
She is a skilled mage and has a high level of prana - basically energy that can be converted into action. All humans carry it, but only magi can store and use it.
Sola is very good at sizing up the scene - and judging her fiance's actions. He refers to her as his teacher; whether he means this in the literal educator sense or the sense of someone who he's learnt a lot from is unclear
She is very proud, which can sometimes get in the way.
Thanks to Diarmuid's "curse", she is highly obsessive over him. The book implies that she should have been able to resist his curse, indicating it is simply ordinary feelings. However, those feelings border on the frightening and she throws all of her skills aside when it comes to him. The longer she is away from him, the more it should taper, but the loss of him will make her rather unstable for a little while.
She is highly disorganised and hates sorting so much as a shopping list.
She cannot cook and she hates doing laundry.

First Person Sample: [Tap, tap. The sound of carefully filed nails lightly striking the hard side of the Pokegear. It echoes a little in the near silence that fills the air. The only sound is the dripping of rain from the edge of the trees.]

    Oh? And finally this device-

[Her words sounded almost scornful, although she tried to bite it back. There was no sense in alienating them yet. She couldn't let anyone know she was a Master.]

-manages to turn on. I was almost about to give up on it.

[Never. She knew that she would not have given up.]

I must admit, I had no idea technology of this type existed. What other 'wonders' does this place hold?

[Her voice tightened, growing a little more ragged for a second. Where was he? Then it calmed, only rising into frustration again when a smooching sound followed.]

What are you-?! Someone get this thing off me. Now.

    Third Person Sample:
It was almost like a Familiar, this little creature that kept trying to kiss her. A Familiar that wasn't easy to control, and that couldn't be easily removed from her person. Nor could she see through its eyes. If she could have, she would have stayed in the warm town and sent the kiss-happy creature - pink, really? - out to find Lancer. Over the entire world if it had to. Until it collapsed and died, if it had to.

But no, it wasn't even good enough for that! At least the wretched thing could fight. At the moment, with her magic gone, there was nothing else she could rely on.

Her hands kept shaking. Somehow, she managed to still them, linking them together in front of her as she thought it over. Sola had spent the entire day and most of the day before trying and failing to invoke her magic. No matter what it was, familiars, concealment spells, even simple communication - it was simply useless.

    And worse yet...

    The worst possibility...

Diarmuid ua Diabhne was out of her reach.

He had neither responded to her call, nor found her there. She could not feel him at all. Her command spells were gone. What in the world had happened? What power was this great? Had someone killed Lancer and taken the Grail? Wished something this insane? The truth was that she couldn't stay here and hope to know. She had to hold back this insane unladylike urge she had to fling herself at the ground and weep for his return. The absence of the faint warmth that she felt from him was like a knife in her chest. And at the same time, she had to wonder.

Had she truly been 'cursed', or was it truly that she had felt 'love' for the first time? Was this yet another piece of suffering for the crime of not being born in her brother's place? A punishment for wishing to not carry on the Sophia-Ri's legacy and instead pursue a man who was little more than a ghost?

    She had to find him.

She had to look for him, no matter what. This, she understood better than anyone else. This was her only chance at happiness.

Somehow, he had to be here. Fate couldn't be this cruel.

    ...or perhaps it could.

Self-deception was almost as bad as weakness. As immaturity. As failure. Her hand ached dully from where she'd struck it. "My hand..." she muttered absently. Yes, she had to at least look. Without the Command Seals he would need to be found fast.

Before his energy ran to minimum and he disappeared forever.

    Character
    Name: Yui Hirasawa
    Series: K-ON! (anime)
Timeline: After season one and the OVA "Live House".
Canon Resource Links: Here and here.

Personality: Yui is probably best described as both easily distracted and single-minded.

For the most part, she appears to be clumsy, lazy, and absent-minded. Anything interesting, cute, or shiny catches her eye, so that even on instances where she thinks she's late for school, she's stopping to pet a cat or help and elderly lady cross the street. She can't focus on studies or schoolwork most of the time, and she loves to goof off with snacks or playing.

However, when she puts her mind to something, she shows great determination--usually. She dutifully practices with her guitar to learn to play with the other members of the group, but she doesn't show the same ability with studies. In addition, she can only focus on one thing at a time: when she's finally forced to study for make-up exams, she forgets all the guitar chords she learned; or she has difficulty playing guitar and singing at the same time. She still tries, though, and can usually accomplish something if she really puts her mind to it.

Yui is also pretty cheerful, outgoing, and friendly, giving nicknames to all her friends. Although lazy--she's content to leave all the housekeeping to her younger sister and be babied by her--and laid-back to a certain extent, she has quite a bit of energy and is pretty exciteable about events, vacations, or even the desserts that Mugi brings. She's especially excited when they get Azusa as a new member: she relishes in being called a senior and nearly treats Azusa like a pet until Mio scolds her for it. She rarely stays sad for long, and bounces back from things quickly. She also isn't nervous about talking the crowd or singing when they have shows at the school. Despite her laziness, she does care about her friends, resolving not to let them help her buy a guitar or getting upset when she thinks she's let them down by being forgetful.

Yui can handle a certain amount of pressure or big events without getting nervous, but this is likely due to her obliviousness. Other times, she is susceptible to letting her nerves get to her, such as when she first goes to join the Light Music Club or messes up during their live house rehearsal. More often than not, she just makes a lot of petty complaints or whining without being especially bothered.

    Strengths/Weaknesses:
Strengths: Yui is upbeat, cheerful, and doesn't stay sad for long. She's friendly and outgoing, as well as single-minded when she wants to focus on something. She has excellent guitar skills and perfect pitch.

Weaknesses: Her single-minded focus could also be a weakness, as she can't concentrate and multiple tasks at once. She's also forgetful, lazy, easily distracted, and doesn't actually know much about the technicalities of music and guitar-playing.

First Person Sample: [Yui turns on the Gear and grins, giving a peace sign with her fingers.] Hey, everyone! I'm Yui! Um...I don't actually know who I'm talking to, but there's a lot of people out there, right?

Hey, this lady earlier who said she was my mom--does that happen to everyone? Because if she's everyone's mom, that kind of makes us all siblings... Oh, but she's not really my mom! Ui takes care of stuff like that.

[And now that she remembers about her introduction again--she turns to show a snoozing munchlax.] This is Yawn-chan! Isn't he cute? He keeps sleeping, so I took a nap with him and found out that he makes a good pillow.

[And now she points to his belly, which she starts gently poking.] Ah, it's squishy...squishy...

[And this probably continues for a while...]

Third Person Sample: Yui crouched on the ground, having for all intents and purposes appeared to be a staring contest between herself and her pokémon. In actuality, she was trying to decide on the perfect name for her munchlax. Her first thought had been Munchie, but Munchie-chan was too long and hard to say, so she sat here thinking about it. And thinking. And thinking. Oh, there was a butterfly over--

    No. Thinking.

She watched, and the munchlax broke the contest to yawn. Suddenly, she had her answer and leapt up to point at him. "Yawn-chan!" Since the sleepy look he gave her didn't seem like an objection (and it was cute), Yui easily settled on this name. From now on, he was her very own Yawn-chan...! All right, so maybe she didn't understand exactly what he was or why she was here, but he was so cute and he looked like he'd be fun to play with or snuggle.

But now that she decided on a name, she could think about other things, too, and she had no problem talking out loud to Yawn-chan. "But, you know...It'd be more fun if everyone from the Light Music Club was here." After all, they couldn't play together unless they were all here--and she didn't even have Geeta! Her one and only guitar! Oh, and she forgot to do her homework earlier! Wait, that might not matter at all anymore... She was so confused about what she was supposed to do! If only Mio-chan or Ui could explain it, or she and Rit-chan could just have some fun and forget about it for a while...

"Yawn-chan, what are we gonna do?" Her voice was now a bit of a whine as she continued, "I can't go on without Mugi-chan's cake!"

She really, really missed After School Tea Time already.

Canon Resource Links: MKR Wikipedia, Umi's MKR Wikia Page, Hydro Powered, the Umi Fansite

    Personality:
Umi doesn't mince words or wait patiently for things to come to her. She acts, and reacts to what's right before her, right away. That's not to say she's keen to jump into a fight or act the hero, but neither is she quick to run away or give in. Her impulsiveness is closely tied to her logic and personal priorities, and what she sees as common sense. As such she's seen more than once freaking out over the fantastical elements of Cefiro, yelling at her friends' more baffling comments or reactions, or calling out someone's actions or expectations as unrealistic – a comical irony, given her own over-the-top emotions.

But the fact remains, be it important information, what to say, or the means to defeat a foe, she'd rather cut to the chase than wait to consider things, or whether her perception might be flawed. She's more likely to exclaim her opinion loudly and expect to get her point across by her personal dose of a reality check. That said, if she is forced to sit through something, she doesn't swallow a hard truth or tall tale easily. The fastest to demand a way home, she's also the slowest to accept the reality of her role as a Magic Knight. She shows a flat, snarky manner and spastic denial to most every factor of Cefiro, struggling to take such shifts of reality and responsibility. Umi has little patience for her company's eccentricities or the constant challenges thrown in their path, wanting a “quick fix” for most things. But all the same, she considers her options and follows through with what she sees as the next logical step.

That want for practicality can be a boon or a pain, for her press for “common sense” is skewed to her own priorities. While her cries for Fuu or Hikaru to focus on a threat are understandable, she applies the same vehemence to her want to hurry along their quest or return home. Even in smaller moments that ferocity shines through, as she'll charm and threaten Mokona in turns over such things as suspicious or vague directions. She encounters few people in Cefiro who can match her temper or volume, but when she does she proves her overreactions aren't brought on by the ambivalent alone. She'll match others yell for yell, and accomplish little until reality or someone else intervenes.

But she pours that same passion into defending more than just her opinion. She's shown on multiple occasions standing up for friends and enemies alike. She learns magic for the first time to defeat Alcyone while injured, just to protect Hikaru, and – at a canon point immediately after Umi will be pulled – she harshly reprimands Ascot for using his monster friends to fight for him, while claiming to protect them. For all purposes, she's surprisingly optimistic and always pushing people to consider the best outcome, be it through cheering and comforting or outright raving. Even when she herself fears the worst, and vents those thoughts, she'll pull a confident one-eighty when she notices someone else fearing the exact same thing. And for all apparent and perceived spoiled manner and selfishness, she's been shown as honestly, deeply grateful, when she realizes what someone's done or been through on her behalf.

Over the course of the series Umi grows into a tenacious young woman, ready to protect others and quick to sympathize with her friends. But it's difficult to say how much of that was true for her from the start. She was self-centered and dismissive of others in the beginning, but she also hadn't accepted that Cefiro and its struggles were real, so her own priorities back home would be far more familiar and real to her at that point. Given that, and the fact that she grows so quickly into a far kinder character without losing any of her prickliness or dramatics, hint she was always a caring person. She simply needed to recognize Cefiro as a real world in need, and bond with the girls and natives for this other side of her to shine through.

    Strengths/Weaknesses:
+ English is her favorite subject and specialty, implying she speaks it well.
+ Baking is listed among her hobbies, and she mentions making cakes many times.
+ A strong fencer from her excelling participation in her school club.
+ A calm fighter, she'll walk right into danger and cut down a horde of monsters without a flinch.
+ A good friend, she will do anything to help them, even when wounded or in danger herself.

+/- Fierce, she'll come to any form of confrontation with a steel backbone.
+/- Not focused on romance, she shows little interest in pursuing anyone, and seems oblivious to any interest in her.

    - Sewing, as listed under her least favored subjects.
    - Umi focuses on her own predicaments, and needs to have others' plights brought to attention.
    - She plays a calm, even charming persona, but loses her temper and panics quickly.
    - Impulsive, more often than not she'll dive into a situation without thinking.
    - Slow to adjust, she's reluctant to take on extra responsibility, even if she will accept it

Hey! This better be working, because like I asked that woman? What is going on?!

[So sorry for the sudden yelling, Johto. There's one angry girl on the line, hiding her confusion behind, well. The volume.]

Yes yes, it's nice to be back in some place with some sense of reality...

[As she quiets down a soft, constant “Pip! Pip! Pip!” can be heard in the background, unheard or unacknowledged by the girl talking.]

But, I was supposed to be inside a shrine, not running around some quaint little town with animals as weird as Mokona! It's probably that thing's fault to begin with. When I find that marshmallow-

[She's mumbling to herself now, making the background cries all the more noticeable. Enough that the caller snaps at the source.]

Would you quit doing that?! I don't know what you want!!

[One last “Pip!” and out goes the call. Please allow five seconds for ears to stop ringing.]

    Third Person Sample:
“This makes no sense at all!!”

But there was no one out to hear her yell. That mother impersonator had locked herself up tight, and the phone device wouldn't respond at all – it just kept clamoring welcomes like a door greeter, and details about things that made no sense! No, the only thing out in the fog with her was that, blue penguin, that popped out of the round ball among the stuff in her bag.

And since it and its out of place existence and its strange try at words just added to her confusion? She ignored it. It and its cries for attention.

After all, she had enough on her plate without worrying about speaking to penguins! She was supposed to be in Cefiro, with her new friends, trying to find the mashins and save their world! She wasn't supposed to land in any other world until that happened – much less another one not her own! And she might not like what she had to do in Cefiro... But from what she'd heard so far? This “Pokémon journey” sounded like a pointless step down. It didn't even mention how to get home!

And best of all, she was alone.

    “Hikaru? Fuu?”

She didn't even try yelling it anymore, as she wandered just out of New Bark Town. She did enough of that when she first came outside, and it got her nothing. The people here were as useless about locating them, as they were explaining how she got there. She'd even resorted to trying to sweet talk it out of the penguin, but aside from puffing up at her finally talking to it? Nothing. There was no point talking to it, either.

But, it did keep following her, and since there was no one else to talk to...

“Look... If you're coming with me, can't you at least tell me the fastest way to that city I saw on the map? You have to know it, right? What's the point of sticking me with a bird that can't hel- AAAAHH!”

Tripping back, Umi found one green leaf after the other slapping her in the face. But before she could curse her sword disappearing along with everything else, it stopped again. And she blinked across the grass from all fours, only to find some pink blob collapsed in front of her, that penguin between them.

Well. Perhaps she would take back that “no help” complaint. After she got away from the blob.

    Canon Resource Links:
    Korra Information
    Avatar Information

Personality: Korra is, upon first glance, almost your typical teenager. Almost. Being the Avatar, incarnation of her world's spirit, Korra knew from the young age of four that she is meant for great things. From this, she's developed a personality that is rather eager, headstrong, and hot-blooded. She's also developed a penchant to be horribly impulsive, stubborn, and quite rebellious, even to those who are high figures of authority. Knowing she's the Avatar, Korra eagerly takes the duty of helping others however she can, even when others aren't expecting her to.

While her desire to help people in need is genuine, Korra can sometimes forget how much destruction even she can dish out while "helping" others, or even if her methods of helping are productive at all. If there's one aspect that she shares with her previous incarnation, Avatar Aang, is that she has an immense amount of energy. Whatever Korra's got her nose buried in, you can bet she's putting in as much effort and energy as she can, which is a lot in most cases. When things get down, Korra isn't the type to just sit by. Nope, she'll charge headfirst into danger if need, or usually be the first to take action in any event if others aren't willing to put their first foot forward.

Outside of any confrontation, Korra's straightforwardness extends to how she can easily be pretty honest about her opinions and emotions. Sure, she can try to hide and cover up her true feelings on the matter, but when push comes to shove, it doesn't take much for Korra to display her thoughts, especially to close friends. And it's kind of easy to spot when she's lying as she's a terrifically bad liar, usually coming up with lame excuses or comebacks ("I was looking for the bathroom" is a favorite of hers).

Still, Korra is usually a kind and generous person... if you're the same way back. Fair's fair, after all, though Korra herself can come off as rather callous or "innocently insensitive" if it isn't pointed out to her. Though she has been given time and events to curb her impatience and not rely on her first instinct to follow impulse, Korra's still a young woman with a strong sense of duty, full of vim and vigor, and if there's a challenge or obstacle in her way, she'll gladly meet it head on.

    Strengths/Weaknesses:
+ Due to extensive training from an early age, Korra's a very adept unarmed combatant.
    + Very acrobatic and agile.
+ Is very energetic, but she can be laid back and generally friendly from the get-go
+ Has impressive physical strength. Even for being the Avatar, Korra has displayed an almost unnatural amount of strength, able to lift people much taller or bigger than her with ease, and even held three children plus their father in a bear hug to name one of these instances.
+ Eager to learn new things and train. Even if she's a natural, Korra's no slacker.
+ Genuinely believes in doing what's right and what's good, even at her own expense.

    - Quite impulsive.
    - Not a great liar.
    - Hardly has any sense of the word "subtlety."
    - Stubborn, which can lead her to display her rebellious streak if she's particularly adamant about something.
    - Is not that spiritual. Really, her lack of spirituality can lead to her insensitivity to other people's feelings, as well as be a rather big block in her training as the Avatar.
    - Prone to being confrontational if she feels she's being challenged. While she doesn't usually fight out of malice, it' her preferred way of dealing with things.

+/- The "stubborn" bit can actually be a good thing as Korra's not one to give up or go back on her word when she commits to something.
+/- Likes to help, but whether or not she does so without upsetting someone during that helping...
+/- Can be a bit naive, which leaves her open to almost anything, but this has led to her being manipulated into things she'd rather avoid.

Korra actually doesn't display that many instances of being fearful, despite heading into situations that would normally make one, at least, apprehensive. Korra's actually pretty courageous. Though, upon arriving in Republic City seeing what Amon can do to benders, Korra's shown an intense fear of Amon and his abilities (though it looks to have gotten a bit better), but nonetheless sees him and his Equalists as a threat that needs to be stopped. As the Avatar, the bending arts are a big part of her life and to have them being taken away permanently... well, at least Johto isn't permanent in a sense, and she'll have these critters to do some of the awesome stuff themselves!

Is this thing even on? [ A tilt of her head later-- ] Uh, hello? Can anyone hear me on this radio? Is... Is this place even Republic City anymore? I think I'm lost. I mean, I don't even know how I got here in the first place.

    Wherever "here" is, anyway...

Third Person Sample: "Gah! Whoa! J-Just wait a second, lady--!"

    Slam.

Her eyes twitched. Had she heard right, or did the woman that just kicked her out of this building called herself her "mother"? Some "mom" she was, and she was no Senna. At all. Korra had a feeling that the woman on the other side of the door wouldn't answer even if she slammed on the door or called out, so she shook her head and glanced down on the bag that the woman thrust to her before saying goodbye.

A sigh escaped her as Korra sat down and began rummaging through the bag's contents. There was an assortment of... objects she'd never seen nor heard of in her life, but there were somethings she did recognize, thankfully enough. Upon digging further, Korra found a book, helpfully labeled "Trainer Handbook" (whatever that meant), and began reading through its pages.

    A few minutes later...

"Urgh! What the heck does all of this mean? Trainers? Pokemon? None of this is making sense!" Korra cried out in irritation. Where were Tenzin and Lin? Mako? Bolin? Asami? What about Naga, or just any trace of familiarity to her? Not even caring about the audience she was getting, Korra tried to yell for any of them to hear if they were around.

    Nothing.

With a small growl, Korra turned back to the door of the house she was previously, absently kicking aside her bag in haste and spilling some of its contents to the ground.

"Hey! Lady! You better come out here and give me some explanations as to what the heck's going o-"

    "Torchic!"

"-n... here?" Korra turned and stared at the... well, it was clearly a bird. A chick of some sort, but she hadn't seen chicks this big. It was a vibrant orange and yellow, and it waddled almost happily to her feet. What surprised her the most was when it came up to her leg and contentedly rubbed its head against it.

"Uh... hey there, little guy?" Korra awkwardly responded to back as she bent low to stare at it closer. Once she did, the Torchic jumped up and nipped at one of her sidetails, which made her cry out in surprise and fall unceremoniously onto her butt.

Well, this was turning out to be a good introduction to the world.

    Series: Kingdom Hearts
    Timeline: Post-Defeat at Radiant Garden
    Canon Resource Links: http://kingdomhearts.wikia.com/wiki/Demyx

Personality: Demyx is one of the more comical members of the organization known for his lazy, care-free pseudo-personality and his cowardly avoidance of conflict. His specialization in gathering intelligence, entirely casual and lackadaisical attitude when confronting Sora, and his disposition during 356/2 days all point to these attributes. As no current information as to his Somebody has been provided, the player speculates on the part of 'nobodies remember their humanity' as to say his Somebody would have shared these traits. However, the long absence of his 'heart' and artificial pseudo-persona creates an interesting point of contradiction, now that he possesses his humanity and his 'heart' it is likely to be said his emotional states will be elevated for a time until he re-acclimates to the reality of possessing them. Nomura has yet left the true nature of what a Nobody does and does not possess vague between games, however as Demyx appears to be a somewhat chipper, if laid-back and casually playful person it could be speculated that he might appear manic at times until he begins to regain personal experiences with emotion in his new, complete, body.

    Starter: Ralts- "Alto Clef"
Reasoning: Ralts represents a pokemon evolution path that is not unlike him and the Dancer nobodies he utilizes, a connection between the newly-human Demyx and the gentle Ralts that senses and passively 'feeds' from his emotions would benefit both trainer and Pokemon. The bond between Ralts and Demyx will serve, along with the friendships and relationships he enters with other characters, as a guideline to his new, fledgling humanity.

First Person Sample: [After a few moments of semi-random button pressing, the camera feed starts and opens to some very fast movement. A blur of whirling colours goes past, then the lens meets a thick patch of dirty blond hair and a pair of very sea-green eyes glancing curiously into the lens.]

[And then, an audible "Yay!" and a happy chuckle.]

"Woo-hoo! Got it to work, I knew watching Vexen and the others when they used to equipment in the lab wasn't a dumb idea."

[Demyx shifts it back and scans a panorama of New Bark Town, because for some reason he felt the need to show his location. Probably a good idea, considering he has no idea where he is or what the heck just happened with the crazy woman booting him out of a house and a pretty comfy bed.]

"Well, I know I'm not in Hollow Bastion anymore. So...Where exactly am I? I hope I'm not the only person here, there seems to be other people. There's this thing, at least. ...and the kinda cute green little guy that came out of the ball thing.

"Demyx here, if anybody knows where I am right about now I'd be happy to hear. Oh, also...if anyone else from 13 is here, half hoping they aren't, though lemme hear from you guys too."

[An audible sigh, followed by a noise of wonder as he looks around again.]

    "Some last-minute save this is."
    Third Person Sample:

It was warm, and comfortable, completely unlike the strange coldness of only moments ago. The darkness was still there engulfing his vision, but he had accepted it with despair and fear, he had faded away into nothingness and died again. But something wasn't quite right with this new feeling, this wasn't the same at all. Something was bothering him a great deal; a number of things, really.

For starters there was this odd...throbbing from somewhere, and he felt unnaturally warm. It was jarringly loud the moment he noticed it, and it filled him with...fear? Almost immediately, Demyx snapped awake and sat upright in the bed that he had apparently been sleeping in. He was cold-sweating, and short of breath from the panic-attack. The throbbing was everywhere, in his ears and pounding away at his chest and-

His chest? Demyx looked down in confusion and placed a gloved hand to his chest, immediately detecting the rhythmic pumping against his warm flesh. In complete disbelief he mouthed a 'no' and his eyes went wide.

It was the pumping of a heart. His own heart. The heart that he had lost and thought he might never find again.

Immediately after, someone barged into the room and demanded he wake up. For a few moments there was chaos and frantic rushing, before he could blink he was being swept out the door with only a small device and a strange sphereical object.

The door slammed shut, the lights dimmed, and Demyx was alone with only the strange sounds of nature around him. And...something else. Music? It sounded like music, at least, at the edge of his hearing but loud enough to be just vaguely obvious. It was lost almost as soon as it was found, though, as Demyx looked at his reflection in the dim window of the house. He was still in his cloak, but everything about him was different from before. He was whole, he was Somebody named Demyx and alive again. The blond reached out to touch his reflection, he could feel a tear streaming down his face; could feel himself nearly drowning in genuine emotion and relief and...

And then he smiled. A wide, goofly little grin that bloomed and blossomed bigger and bigger until it threatened to stretch his whole face and split his lips. His heart was racing and he was confused, and everything was completely unknown to him...but he didn't care at all right now. All he cared about was the person staring back at him with that same goofy smile and tears rolling down his cheeks. A human, a Somebody, just like him.

    Character
    Name: Yukiko Amagi
Series: Shin Megami Tensai: Persona 4
    Timeline: Post True End
    Canon Resource Links: Wikia.

    Personality:

At the beginning of the game, Yukiko is shown as a very quiet, reserved young girl. Other than her best friend, Chie, she does not seem to mingle with others at school that much - especially the boys there. Despite this, she is rather popular amongst the opposite sex at school, and is asked out more often than not. This even resulted in the 'Amagi Challenge' being a code phrase for someone actually going to do just that. A lot of the time she is not aware of this, however, as Chie usually has to point out that this is the case. After hanging out with the protagonist and Yosuke, however, she grows more accustomed to being around boys who are at least friends.

She is the heir to a family business; the inn is Inaba's 'treasure' and she is expected to take over when her mother retires. However, it becomes obvious that Yukiko hates this as she has no say in her life. In Yukiko's dungeon - a castle that her mind has 'created' in the TV world - she faces her shadow. This shadow, or her other self, is honest about how she wants to run away from her problems. It confesses Yukiko's inner feelings of the fact that she wanted a 'Prince' to save her, for Chie to save her so she didn't have to deal with it on her own. She admits that she felt like a caged bird in that her decisions are made for her and that made her feel angry and helpless. After the Investigation Team defeat her shadow, however, Yukiko admits that these feelings are real. Like the others in the Investigation Team she feels it is her job to solve the case and stop the murders from occurs because of her ability to use a persona. In this regard, she is determined and eager to do her job properly. She feels as though this ability gives her a purpose, and until she starts to gain some idea of 'herself', this is the only thing that seems to give her any direction in life.

While Yukiko is usually a very calm and gentle person, there are times when her temper can get the better of her and she can say something cruel. These instances are few and far between, but they occur often enough to be mentioned. Similar to this, she can be manipulative, especially as a counter attack for something someone says to her. She can be overly competitive too, especially when her pride is at state. She tells Rise "I'll crush you with one strike" during the 'Iron Cook Inaba' challenge where the three girls, Yukiko, Rise and Chie, decide to battle it out to see who cooks the best omelette and fried rice. Even if this is the case, if she does offend someone more than she means to, she will be quick to apologise if she is in the wrong. She is not ashamed to say she's wrong if she is, unless it's about her cooking or something similar; in other words, unless it is something she is in denial about.

Even when the situation is dire throughout the game, she can still laugh about the silliest of things - a lot of the time Teddie's puns included. Her strange sense of humour stands out, and often enough makes her friends end up having to sigh and wait until a burst of laughter has stopped. She cares about her friends greatly, especially as she gets closer to them after they save her from the other world. She is very protective of her friends of family, and can shout out against anyone who says something offensive about them. She does have a habit of depending on others more than she should, Chie especially, however she does slowly start to become more independent and by the end of the game can stand strongly on her own without needing to ask for help.

    Strengths/Weaknesses:
Strength+1/Weakness+1: Yukiko is a relatively strong person, yet she does tend to rely and depend on Chie, her best friend, more often than not too.
Strength+2/Weakness+2: She can be really naive about things.

Strength+3: Yukiko is good with studying. She has a brilliant level of intelligence and does well in exams and tests.
Strength+4: She has very good manners and is very friendly with people she knows.
Strength+5: She is very loyal towards her friends and family; this is in particular with the investigation team and her friends who work at her family inn.
Strength+6: She's very calm and rational.
Strength+7: She's responsible and very grown up for her age, which is shown by her dependability and her ability to seek out knowledge and help for things she wants.

Weakness+3: In the beginning she would solely depend on Chie.
Weakness+4: She can have a bit of a mean streak, especially when angered/annoyed.
Weakness+5: Terrible sense of humour, seriously.
Weakness+6: She struggles to open up to people, at least until she joins the investigation team after her dungeon.
Weakness+7: She is really bad at cooking, usually it tastes really bland.

    First Person Sample:
[The video starts with Yukiko outside Mom’s House. She’s not cradling a Vulpix like she had last time, nor does she actually look too confused because of where she is--it’s more how she doesn’t understand how she forgot this place to begin with. If anything, the knowledge that she returned home, ended up finishing things up there and came back, is more alarming than being here to begin with. At least her purpose is finally complete, however, and those things the other members of the Investigation Team told her about make sense now.

She’s seen the truth now, seen what was causing everything in her own world.]

Souji-kun? ...Chie? Anyone? [She pauses, hesitant. The last time she had been here, Chie had left. She isn’t sure if Souji will even be there anymore either, but she won’t know without asking. She’s strong enough now to do that.] Are you still here?

[She pauses again, reaching out to pet the new pokémon she’s been equipped with. The screen tilts with her, revealing a new and adorable Phanpy at her feet--still unnamed.]

Let me know as soon as possible, and I’ll make my way towards Goldenrod City. [She’s much more determined this time, much less frightened.

Yukiko is angry, especially if her disappearance has upset someone again.]

    Third Person Sample:

As soon as she awoke in her bed--only it wasn’t really her bed--Yukiko rushed outside. She spared a moment to pick up her backpack, her lunch from ‘Mom’, as well as her new starter Pokémon, but she had to make sure this wasn’t a dream. She’d already checked the time on her device, the date-- and the panic over how long she’d been gone from this world was enough to make sure she did hurry. She was still cautious, however, especially as the talk came again. All the other people nearby didn’t know of this place, from what she could tell, but she also remembered people on the network talking about how some people do go home and come back... people who keep their memories. Chie had said it herself, Yukiko had come and gone three times before she had arrived that last time, but all those other times she had forgotten this place.

    Forgotten the people here.

Would they even still be there?

After quickly sending out a network message she took a seat in the centre of New Bark Town, letting out the new starter she had been given. Phanpy seemed to almost squeak it’s name at her, wriggling around her on the floor. It wasn’t the pokémon’s fault she had left, however, so with a gentle smile she lowered her arms to pull it up, bringing it to her lap.

“Oh, I’m sorry if I startled you.” It nuzzled into her hand as she sighed, looking a little depressed. “It’s alright, I know it’s not your fault.”

At least the pokémon seemed to understand her, something Yukiko was rather pleased about. She wasn’t alone in this, even if the others had gone home. “Are you hungry?” She reached for the backpack she’d brushed aside. “There should be some food in here, if you are.”

Series: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4
    Timeline: post-True Ending
Canon Resource Links: P4 on Wikipedia, P4 on Megami Tensei Wiki, Chie on MT Wiki

    Personality:

"Hey, are you going home by yourself? Why don't you come with us?"
With Chie Satonaka, what you see is largely what you get. She's open and outgoing, with very little in the way of artifice. She's always eager to meet new people and make new friends; when Souji moves to Inaba, she's the first classmate to approach him and introduce herself. She may not be the most popular girl in the school, but she doesn't need or want to be. She's got a lot of friends and acquaintances, she's pretty up on the latest rumors, and that's enough for her. And the people she calls friends are friends for life -- you'll never meet a more loyal girl.
"You know... When my mood is different, battles are completely different too. Because I felt that I wanted to protect others... I think I can try even harder."
Chie is all about helping people, from interrupting a teacher's vitrolic rant, to facing down a gang of avaricious bullies, to fighting a towering monstrosity for the fate of all mankind. Justice is vitally important to her, so she'll be the first to speak up against any unfairness she sees in the world. This is especially true when the people important to her are in danger. When Yukiko's life is threatened, Chie becomes single-minded in her need to rescue her best friend. In pursuit of that justice, Chie has been teaching herself a kick-based martial arts from a very young age. (Though that decision also owes a lot to her being such a kung-fu movie fangirl.)
"... I still don't have a clue what my good points are. But... I thought I could just keep on searching."
Behind Chie's cheery exterior is an interior that's mostly the same... but there are still some self-confidence issues lurking around back there. When she was younger, she was quite jealous of Yukiko's innate femininity and grace. That jealousy is all but dissipated now, but she still occasionally wonders what life would be like if she were less of a tomboy. In general, she has a much easier time seeing other people's good points than her own, and that can lead to her doubting herself and what she's able to bring to any situation. She also has a bit of a quick temper; press on one of her issues and you can get her from zero to shouting in a minute or two. Still, she bounces back quickly, and she won't hold a grudge -- if you apologize.
    "Don't think, feel!"
While Chie isn't stupid by any means, her brain works more intuitively than intellectually. She has some difficulty in school, often getting overwhelmed by the sheer amount of information she's expected to retain. But her motto (even if it is just stolen from Bruce Lee) suits her well. Her intuition has led her to surprisingly accurate deductions over the course of the investigation, and her battle instinct is second to none. She's really at her best when she isn't second-guessing herself and letting her brain get in her way. That said, trusting her instinct too much can tend to make her stubborn and unwilling to change her mind once she's made an impulsive decision.

    Strengths/Weaknesses:

+ Chie is extremely athletic and energetic, which comes from training in martial arts for a good portion of her life. The tough work of traveling through Johto will be one of the least troubling aspects of her journey.
+ She's upbeat and optimistic under ordinary circumstances. It doesn't take a lot to get her annoyed or upset, but at the same time she bounces back pretty easily.
+ Once you befriend her, you've made a friend for life. That's not to say she won't tease or kick you if she has to, but when it comes down to it, she'll stick up for you.
+ She'll stick up for just about anyone, really. Chie hates to see injustice unpunished -- she's planning to become a police officer back home.
+ She's especially protective of her friends. If you harm someone she's close to, be prepared to be kicked in the most painful places she can find.

    - She's especially protective of her friends. Some might say too protective, in fact. Even by the end of the game, she's still a little reluctant to see Yukiko on the battlefield -- not because she doesn't think Yukiko's capable! Just because she hates to see her get hurt.
    - Chie is impulsive and stubborn. Once she's made a decision, it's not easy to get her to change her mind.
    - She also has a bit of a temper. She's been known to respond to relatively minor slights with a kick to the groin (hi Yosuke).
    - She still has some issues with her self-confidence. She has a much easier seeing other people's good points than her own.
    - She cannot cook. The best thing you can say about her cooking skill is that it doesn't kill people when she's not collaborating with Yukiko. It just tastes terrible.
    - She can be a bit credulous at times. She takes the rumor about the supernatural "Midnight Channel" for truth before she's even tested it.
    - She's not very book smart. It's only thanks to Yukiko's help that she manages to keep up in school.

[Chie appears on video, a scruffy puppy balanced in one arm (the other is holding out her Pokégear. She hasn't got her team rebuilt yet, after all). She jumps right into questioning the viewers.]

Hey, guys! I just have a quick question today. I was wondering, has anybody ever had any luck changing their Pokémon's names?

See, this little guy here's my new starter. He's a Lillipup! Pretty cute, huh? And I wanted to give him a cool name, to start my team off right. I didn't mean to name him after my dog from home! I mean, having two pets with the same name is just weird. But he heard me say "Muku" -- [The Lillipup barks happily. Chie scowls.] And now that's all he answers to.

Think there's anything I can do to change his mind? Or am I just gonna have to deal with it?

    Third Person Sample:

Back in Johto once again. Chie crossed her arms as she looked out upon the old but familiar scenery of Route 29. She hadn't expected to ever see this world again -- or to recognize it if she did. But it seemed as though she was one of the few returners who remembered her time in the world of Pokémon. So now she got to work her way back up from scratch. Lucky her.

Still, it wasn't all bad. For the short time she'd been back in Inaba, Chie had felt that unpleasant sense of leaving something unfinished. Her team had been counting on her to bring them to victory, and however unwillingly, she'd let them down. This time around, she could collect all those badges she'd never gotten to the first time, and finally earn her proper place as Pokémon master!

Of course, that was if she could get her new partner to cooperate.

The little Lillipup (who still refused to answer to anything but "Muku") was just too friendly. Even now as Chie watched, he was bounding up to a wild Sentret and yapping playfully, tail wagging back and forth like a hyperactive metronome. She could just imagine what its barks translated to. "Hi! My name's Muku! Let's play! Will you be my friend?"

The Sentret didn't want to be Muku's friend. It lashed out with one paw, leaving a Scratch right across the poor puppy's face. Muku stumbled back and looked at the Sentret with a betrayed expression on his fuzzy face. Chie hid her face behind her hands with a groan. Didn't the Pokédex claim Lillipups were supposed to be intelligent? "Come on, Muku!" she shouted. "Tackle him right back! Don't let him treat you like that!"

But the next exchange went the same way. Muku whined to his opponent hopefully, hopping back and forth playfully, only to get another Scratch to the nose for his trouble. He yelped, courage deserting him, and turned to run back to his trainer's arms. (The Sentret made a motion to follow, but a glare from Chie scared it off.)

Chie sighed and scooped Muku up, scratching under his chin. The puppy panted and lolled his head back, already seeming to forget about the injuries he'd just received. Hopeless. "We have gotta teach you how to fight," she muttered, "or this is gonna be a long trip."

    Character
    Name: Princess Celestia
Series: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
    Timeline: Post S02 finale.
    Canon Resource Links: Wiki!

Personality: Celestia is everything you'd expect a true princess to be: exceedingly patient, remarkably gentle, unendingly generous. She's kind and understanding toward all her subjects, both high-class and common, most all of whom hold her in great reverence. Even those who don't — like Pinkie Pie, who may very well respect her Princess, but is ballsy enough to steal a cupcake from her — don't receive any particular ire or reprimand. While she doesn't discourage the public's awestruck view of her, she does often try to put her subjects at ease. She'd rather see them relax and have fun with her than remain stiff and intimidated.

In fact, she'd rather have fun, herself. Celestia has a great sense of humour; she likes to play harmless pranks from time to time, like causing her overanxious hosts to spill tea by pretending her cup is empty. Any kind of lighthearted fun is preferred over the rigid formalities of the court, as she's not very fond of being obligated to behave 'royally.' She's even gone so far as to invite some young ponies to a royal gala specifically with the hopes of seeing them liven it up. It was, incidentally, nothing short of a disaster. Celestia was most pleased, as she finds the gala awful.

As a leader, her methods tend to be hands-off and indirect. Rather than explicitly stating what she wants, or giving direct orders, she's inclined to be somewhat evasive and gradually lead you to the right conclusion, allowing you to make your own mistakes along the way. Instead of asking Twilight to find the Elements of Harmony and save Equestria from Nightmare Moon, she simply encouraged her to make friends, knowing that her prompting would lead Twilight in the right direction eventually.

All the same, she's not averse to stepping in when it's strictly necessary. When her intervention is required, she knows how to put her hoof down: demanding the Elements of Harmony back from Discord, or lecturing Twilight on the disasters she caused in her fervent search for a lesson. Her patience has its limits, however faraway they might seem. She's shown to be angry with Twilight and her friends when their misbehaviour causes problems on a large scale, like chaos erupting in Ponyville, or halting a royal wedding.

However, unlike your stereotypical royalty, Celestia isn't a very proud pony. She can admit when she's wrong, and she has no qualms with seeking help when she needs it. When defeated by Queen Chrysalis, she immediately asked Twilight and her friends to use the Elements of Harmony to stop the changeling army. After the affair was over, she even apologized for her mistrust and anger in the face of
    Twilight's accusations against Princess Cadance.

    Strengths/Weaknesses:
She's patient. It's not bottomless, but Celestia has a wellspring of patience that could last a lifetime. She rarely loses her temper, and is very tolerant of others.
She's wise. As old as she is, Celestia has quite a lot of knowledge, and she's very good at applying it. This has been part of what makes her an excellent ruler.
She's cool-headed. Celestia doesn't panic in stressful or dangerous situations; she keeps calm and helps keep others calm, as well, with her reassuring presence.
She's decisive. As the ruler of a land that has, on occasion, been thrown into chaos and subjected to disasters, Celestia is capable of making quick, responsible decisions, even under pressure.

She's easily bored. Celestia likes to have fun, and doesn't care much for quiet or formal events, which can prompt her to seek ways of livening them up — sometimes with less than desirable results.
She loves sweets. This is exploitable as a distraction, or sometimes even a bribe, if the consequences aren't too serious. Cake is a particular weakness. (And she's not very ladylike when she's enjoying her cake.)
She tries to remain uninvolved. While not always a problem, her hands-off methods can go wrong, leaving too much to chance or even backfiring. Sometimes she just doesn't step in when she should.
She trusts easily. Celestia operates on the rule of 'trustworthy until proven otherwise,' which can (and has) gotten her into serious trouble when she trusts someone she shouldn't.

First Person Sample: [ The feed clicks on to Celestia, whose hair looks more than a little tousled, and who's wiping mud off her hands onto a patch of grass. Even as roughed-up as she looks, her voice is relatively cheerful. ]

Well. I suppose I should be writing Twilight Sparkle a letter about the lesson I've learned today.

[ She clears her throat delicately. ]

    Dear Twilight Sparkle,

Today I learned that there's more than one way to solve a problem. If at first you don't succeed, and trying again doesn't go so well, either, you might want to look for another way around it.

    Perhaps literally around it.

[ Hands now relatively clean, she takes the 'Gear from the mysterious cameramon and points it at one of the many ledges between New Bark and Cherrygrove. It's clear someone's been trying to climb it; mud and dirt has been pulled down it in swathes. ]

    Your admittedly silly mentor,
    Princess Celestia.

[ With one more shot of Celestia's ruefully amused expression, the feed ends. ]

Third Person Sample: Celestia hummed in thought. No one had seen Nephele all day, and while it shouldn't be a point of concern that a bird had gone flying, the little Swablu wasn't prone to wandering far from Celestia's side. She had to admit that she was getting a bit worried. Philomeena had been one to occasionally vanish for a lark, but she was much older and much more capable than little Nephele — and Nephele hadn't strayed out of sight since she'd hatched in Celestia's bag in the Goldenrod Hotel.

But the skies were empty and it was cold outside (colder still without fur or feathers to ward off the chill), enough so for Celestia to eventually abandon her post and return indoors to the inn for something warmer to wear. There was a scarf in her dresser, a gift from one of the girls. It should cut the wind a bit, if nothing else.

When she opened the drawer, however, she was greeted not by the blue and green cashmere she expected, but by a burst of blue and white feathers. Nephele was nestled into the drawer, her wings arranged around her, and she peeked up at Celestia shyly.

"Oh! Nephele! There you are, dear. I was looking for you."

She started to reach for the little bird, but Nephele spread her wings up — revealing a clutch of blue-and-white eggs beneath her. Celestia's smile grew.

"Oh.... You've been busy, haven't you?" She thought back to the gallant Swellow they'd met in town a few weeks before. Someone must have made quite the impression.

Chuckling, she lifted Nephele out of the dresser and placed her on her shoulder. "Let's get your babies somewhere more suitable, Mother," she said as she gathered up the eggs with careful hands. Before she closed the drawer, she grabbed the scarf, too. It would make an excellent nest.
