Route 29 has closed as of May 30th. For the continuation of the game, please visit [community profile] victory_road!

Applications will be normally checked during the weekend following the first and third Sunday of each month unless otherwise stated, and we will allow one application per person during one application cycle. Remember, the most characters one player can have at a time is currently set at five.

Applications received after 11:59 PM EST on Saturday of the first and third weekend of each month will be checked the following app weekend unless otherwise stated.

We now ask that potential applicants post their application in comments rather than linking. If their application contains explicit references to 'hard' spoilers (character death, unforeseen plot twists, big reveals, he was evil all along etc), players should put the application in their own journal or their character's journal and link it, making sure to mention the presence of spoilers within. For further clarification on our spoilers policy and whether or not your application needs to be linked, please check this page. Thank you for your cooperation!

The comment character limit on dreamwidth is 16,000 characters so apps no longer need to be split into multiple comments; however this is at players' discretion.

Character

Name: Six

Series: 9

Timeline: Before his death at the hands of the Fabrication Machine. About five seconds before it.

Canon Resource Links: http://nine.wikia.com/wiki/6

Personality: 6 is, in the words of the director and creator, the ‘insane artist’ of the movie. He doesn’t fit in, no matter where he goes, and has a great deal of trouble just trying to be a part of the group. He’s shy, quiet, and tends to keep to himself a lot, though this doesn’t make him unfriendly. Rather, he’s just adorably, if painfully awkward socially. He is terrible with trying to talk, and on the rare occasions that he does, ends up speaking in riddles, though he honestly does not mean to. Though he isn’t the best with social interaction, he dislikes being left alone as well, and has never known a moment without being with his family. Six doesn't enjoy being swamped by people either, and honestly seems to prefer just being in the same general area as people, interaction not necessary. He honestly can't help being strange, it's simply who he is.

He honestly tries to be helpful, but unless his visions are somehow understood by someone other than himself, he just tends to come off as completely insane and childlike. He has a certain amount of innocence about him, and is more of a follower than a leader, lacking really any kind of confidence or assertiveness, and is easily frightened or startled. Due to this, he's very trusting and easy to string along, as he did, after all, remain under One's rule when everyone else had left. He wants to believe people are good, especially the people in his family, and tolerates a great deal of abuse from both Eight and One, weathering the emotional and mental abuse of having One call him insane, and Eight's physical abuse of stepping on his drawings and stealing his things from him. Despite seeming rather childish, he IS mentally an adult, and he’s not an idiot either, aware of how to protect himself to an extent, and possessing a sense of responsibility for the others he is with. Hence his constant attempts to explain his visions and the need to draw them. 6 does not become easily frustrated when people don’t understand him. He’s used to it by now. All he can do is repeat himself and hope that someone will understand what he means.

He’s exceptionally empathetic and reads the emotions of others really well. It honestly bothers him when his friends and family are upset, and just as easily he’s made happy again just as long as they are. He has a very even temper, and is more likely to become afraid rather than angry when faced with someone who is angry themselves, and tends to deal with mockery and rejection by simply taking himself someplace else to draw. He is non-confrontational to the point of being a doormat, rather like Five in a way, though unlike Five he isn't tethered by social etiquette of sticking around for the end of the beratement or conversation. He honestly doesn't see an issue of just wandering off if his feelings are hurt or if he feels as if he's being mistreated. Not wandering far, mind, just far enough where he won't have to hear or deal with being picked on anymore. Even if someone is actively trying to rile him up, maybe the most they'll get out of him is a 'please stop' or a small disagreement or refusal to act. He can be remarkably stubborn, if his constant drawings and speaking of the source is of any indication, and will remain stuck to his guns like someone super glued him on there. Just... not actively brandishing said guns about and making a big to do over it.

6 also possesses a great deal of curiosity for the world around him, and delights in art in all its forms, enjoying music, drawing, paintings, and other displays of art. Drawing really is his best way to communicate his feelings and thoughts, as he is so poor at putting them to words, so it really only makes sense that he’d enjoy it so much. Six is capable of drawing a wide variety of things, usually whatever besets his vision at the current time and place, such as the source, or the hideous cat monster prowling around outside. Pictures are his medium of expression, and he will usually default to them if pressed for in depth explanations. Of course, this tends to make him look like he's trying to be cryptic, but it's simply how he operates. Six can barely string together a full sentence, let alone voice an entire wordy explanation of what he sees in his visions and hears in his head. He gets a bit frantic if pressed too hard to explain himself, and might actually break down in frustration, mimicking the frustration others have in trying to understand him. Partially, he does kind of enjoy not being paid attention to, because generally when people pay attention to him, they ask more than what he's capable of giving.

Strengths/Weaknesses: Strengths

Artistic: While his style is dark and twisted, Six is a very formidable artist, capable of drawing a vast variety of things that happen to come into his head, field of vision, or is whispered into his head. Six sees things differently than most people do, and this is clear in his detailed, but often terrifying drawings.

Empathetic: Six reads emotions very well, and will often copy them if they are strong enough. From frustration to happiness to sadness, Six feels and reciprocates most emotions very well, and while he isn't much in the talking department, he does his best to be comforting by just being there.

Excellent Runner/hider: Living in a post-apocalyptic wasteland populated by mostly things that want you dead is shitty way to live, but an excellent way to teach one how to blend in. Six is a master of hiding, just vanishing clear away if he wants too, and though he normally walks slow, he's fast on his feet when he runs and can clear great distances in little time at all. That is, if he's frightened enough.

Weaknesses

Poor speech/reading: Six is not good with words, written or otherwise. He dislikes having to talk, only capable of repeating himself many times, along with a small collection of small words and a very basic vocabulary. He gets confused easily with large words, and can't read very much at all, relying on others to tell him things if he absolutely must read something. Rarely does anyone ever speak for him, so it's usually up to Six to stammer out the words himself. He has a terrible stutter, and pauses a lot in his sentences to allow his brain time to catch up with his mouth.

Poor social skills: What fork does he use? How should he act in this situation? Why does he need to do something? Six doesn't know, don't ask him. He can and will just plain walk away from someone who is upsetting him enough, can and will walk barefoot everywhere, will stare at things and people he finds interesting, and doesn't know what to do with himself if someone is in some serious distress. He isn't the go to man for help, even if he is very caring and empathetic, as he just gets swept along with the emotions and might very well end up breaking down right along with them.

Follower: If someone talks like they know what they're doing, chances are Six will honestly believe that they know what they're doing, even if they're full of shit or trying to get him hurt. Though he can be very stubborn, Six is very reliant on others to help him figure things out, and doesn't think very much of his inteliigence. He knows he isn't stupid, and it about ends there. He wants to believe people are good, and isn't very good at sussing out lies or being able to tell if someone is all talk or not. He is quite trusting and naive, and it doesn't seem as if that is about to change any time soon.

Pokémon Information

Affiliation: Breeder

Starter: Due to Six's extreme empathy and shy, gentle nature, a ralts might be well suited for him. Both are quiet and shy creatures who vastly prefer to be near people who are naturally optimistic and good willed. Both would rather stay out of the way and unnoticed by most people, and both would probably agree that fighting is the pits and it's much better to be peaceful and friendly with others.

Samples

First Person Sample: Hello! Hello hello! Hello in there!

[Someone seems happy today. Then again, he's been pretty happy most days, if a bit... loopy]

I found... um... I found things! Many things!

[The camera turns and focuses on... Berries! A lot of berries. Seriously like one metric fuckton of berries]

Miss found the things. We have... many. A lot. Miss ate a lot. I ate too. Does um... does... anyone? Want? We have many.

[That much is clear by the blue all over his fingers and face. Looks like he was playing with his food too, because there's blue in his hair as well]

Many things. Blue things. Find me? I'll... I'll share.

[Ralts sleepily calls from her position behind the huge treasure trove of berries]

Miss says... Miss says she will share... too. With you.

Third Person Sample:

It had been almost three straight days of walking. Just non-stop walking with only breaks long enough to sleep. He'd fast learned that he had to fill his stomach and wet his tongue every now and again, this body was a lot more needy than his last one, but that was okay. He got along alright. Even if he didn't have that much money left to spare. Sitting in the Pokemon Center at the next town, he had resigned himself to a corner, nabbing the crayons the children played with off the table and getting some paper for himself in order to doodle in peace.

Three days seemed like a long enough time to earn a break. For... wherever he was going, he didn't know. He didn't even know how to read a map, he just walked where it was easiest for himself and Miss. Speaking of Miss, he looked to the slumbering ralts beside him, before focusing back on the paper again.

Of course it was a ralts on the paper, what else would it be? The tiny pokemon had been beside him the entire time, she was the main thing for him to focus on, through all the voices that just seemed to have become jumbled here and the nonsensical dreams and nightmares he had when he fell asleep. Like a bright light at the end of the tunnel, something for him to hold on to, and rely on. Miss was better at finding berries than he ever would be, and she'd even won a few fights for him out there against a few demanding bug catchers and youngsters. She seemed to know what Six's odd orders were during a fight, he'd barely even learned the names of the attacks, but she just seemed to know exactly what was coming to mind. At least someone here did.

He didn't dare wake her, instead pausing again to stare blankly at a fisherman that had wandered into the center. Prolonged staring, actually, fascinated by the rod he carried with him. Such prolonged staring that it eventually unnerved the man and he attended to his business with the nurse and left in an awkward huff. Oh... Maybe a smile would help? No? That didn't make him feel better? Six waved as he headed out the door, before attending to his picture again. Words weren't necessary, they never were with Miss, he just reached over and rested a hand atop her head, and was rewarded with a soft coo from the pokemon. Good. He might not have anyone else here... but he had Miss.

Character
Name: Itachi Uchiha
Series: Naruto
Timeline: age 13, after the massacre of the Uchiha clan
Canon Resource Links: Naruto wiki, see also: The Uchiha Clan Massacre

Personality: It's said in the manga that, having seen a great many atrocities at the end of the second ninja war, Itachi had the wisdom of a Hokage (the leaders of their village) by the age of seven. While this may be a bit of a stretch, it's true that he's always been mature beyond his years, as seen by how quickly he progressed through the ranks. He was aware of the dark nature inherent in his clan and the eye techniques they inherited and actually feared for the safety of the whole village because of this. He was more capable of seeing the bigger picture.

Unfortunately it was because of this that he ended up getting drawn into the situation that he did. In the end, he chose the safety of the entire village over that of his clan, and thus was instrumental in the latter's demise.

He loved his brother more than anything, which is why his condition for murdering his own kin was that Sasuke alone got to live. He thought that by filling his brother with hatred for him that he could become the villain and their family's name wouldn't be tarnished in his eyes. Once Sasuke completed his revenge, he would return to the village and start the clan anew. He needed his death to be at the hands of an Uchiha after everything he'd done.

Itachi is a selfless individual who believes in sacrificing for the greater good. Shisui, a member of his clan he was particularly close to, taught him what he considers to be the true mark of a ninja - that they don't seek glory, but instead protect from the shadows. He was willing to do what he did because he was convinced that more suffering would happen if he didn't. He accepted being seen as the villain because it meant that the name of his clan remained untarnished - that his brother could still remember them with pride.

Later, past the canon point I'm taking him from, he would admit to having made some mistakes in dealing with Sasuke. He took everything into his own hands and didn't trust others to help him see it through. He took every precaution imaginable, but in the end his method was based around shallow lies that were easily later uncovered and he had no one to back him up should something go wrong. He blames this decision on arrogance, and the belief that he was strong enough to handle anything. Itachi warns Naruto, when it appears as though the boy is trying to take everything on his own shoulders as well, that this path will only lead to failure, and that he should rely on those who believe in him to help as well. (Note that he doesn't then immediately take this advice himself.)

Realizing that this setting is real is going to be a difficult hurdle for Itachi to deal with. He had expected, at this point in time, to run off to Akatsuki and work his way into their ranks. In lieu of that, and as he's convinced that he's not going mad, Team Rocket will serve as a substitute. He will be unaware that anyone knows of what really happened, and will still act on the notion that Sasuke needs to hate him.

Soft spoken, Itachi is also very cold personality-wise - to both enemies and "comrades" alike. Even if he's a pacifist deep down, he will shove that part of his nature aside in order to wear the mask he's made for himself and complete the tasks he's given in the organization. Should his brother reveal what he knows about him, that mask will crack and he'll be left (at least at first) uncertain about how to move ahead with his plans.

He has very few hobbies outside of training, as he just didn't have time for them. The official stat books says he enjoys visiting confectioneries. I play him as a vegetarian, as it makes sense for his character and his favorite/least favorite foods also make it a strong possibility.

Strengths/Weaknesses: Itachi is an incredibly capable ninja with a wide array of techniques at his disposal. Most involve the use of his Sharingan, an eye technique inherent to his particular clan that makes them incredibly powerful and can only be unlocked through strong emotions (generally hatred). Without this, he is also able to use both fire and water elemental attacks. A full list of his abilities is shown on the right bar of the page linked in his history earlier. He will not have access to any chakra while here, but physically he'll be more agile and capable than many - within the realm of human capability.

On the other side of this, a lot of Itachi's strength was based around his use of chakra and other techniques involving genjutsu. Without them, even with his agility and accuracy being relatively high, his actual physical strength levels aren't as good as they could be.

The ninja is particularly strong willed, moreso than even the usual training allows for. He's also exceptionally clever, and good at planning for many possibilities in advance. Unlike others in his clan, Itachi was aware of the way emotions could impact himself and his techniques. To this end, he became quite good at sealing his own away. This doesn't mean he can't show them, of course, and his ability to control his anger means he isn't as easily trolled as some.

While he's one of the most intelligent characters in the series, most of his training revolved around jutsu and everything ninja. The technology of their world is not quite up to the standards of ours, so while he might be quick to learn he wouldn't start out with much knowledge in that field or anything else outside of what is used there.

Itachi cares a lot, though he doesn't always show it. He's made some hard decisions involving those close to him and if need be he'll do it again in the future. At the same time, he can come across as rather detached, and isn't easy to get close to because of it. Also, as mentioned earlier, he has a tendency to want to do things on his own, not trusting others to get the results he needs or simply not wanting to involve them for their own sake. He won't be the sort of person who easily speaks out about his problems with others. It would also not be too difficult to use his love for his brother against him, once that becomes common knowledge (which is likely will).

First Person Sample:
There is a ridiculousness to the creatures here that goes beyond anything I had experienced before arriving.

[Itachi's face is half covered by his domino mask, a dark hoodie over the usual Rocket attire. His voice over the network is slightly jumbled to better hide his identity.

He lifts a Pikachu up for inspection, hands covered by protective gloves as the pokémon sparks at him in irritation. "Chuuuu..."]

Even this. The eyes are far too large and childlike, the expression too innocent. That is, if you believe any of them have actual expressions. How are you to take them seriously? How are you to train and fight with them without losing yourself to a fit of embarrassment?

[The pokémon is stuffed into a bag, which lights up from its electric discharges even as he ties up the top of it. The bag, in turn, is then zapped inside a pokéball.]

It's a game for children, no more. You cycle through them like toys. If we take one, you can catch another that's identical. Your tears are for show.

[With that, the feed cuts off.]

Third Person Sample:
Once that was done, Itachi sighed and pushed back the hood, removing the hat and mask. If there was anything ridiculous about that situation, it was the uniform. There were better ways to hide one's identity. Any ANBU member could show you.

The pokéball was still in his hand, and he turned it over in his fingers a few times. No matter how they looked, the beings in the new world he'd found himself in were too close to sentient. They were practically summoned beasts, just without the ability to speak. Almost. Not quite. He wasn't sure if the obedience they showed the moment after being captured made it easier or more difficult to deal with, but he had enough to worry about on a human level. He couldn't be concerned for them too.

He clicked the button on the device, and the ball opened to reveal the caught Pikachu, still in its bag. It had ceased struggling, and sparks no longer caused bursts of light beneath the fabric. Itachi removed his gloves before untying the top of the bag and letting the animal free. It made a fuss about its ears and whiskers, smoothing them over with its paws, but had otherwise lost the earlier exhibited anger. Perhaps it was bred into them, this resignation.

Having no desire to keep it, he knew he would have to send it on to headquarters rather than let it go. He didn't know what they'd do with it, as it wasn't anything particularly noteworthy - give it to a new recruit, perhaps. Chip it, like they did all the others. It was discouraging to think about, but in the end it was just an animal. He couldn't risk his position for something that insignificant.

The Pikachu stopped and looked up at him with those too-wide eyes. For just a moment, he imagined he saw a look of understanding in them, as if it knew exactly what it was being sent off to, but then he shook his head to clear it of that. He called it back into the ball, closing it with a decisive click. He wasn't allowed to be soft with this.

He stood, and went to go send it on its way.

Character
Name: Kotetsu T. Kaburagi
Series: Tiger & Bunny
Timeline: episode 25, post-timeskip
Canon Resource Links: T&B wiki

Personality:
Most superheroes have certain characteristics that make up who they are at heart: daring, head-strong, courageous, charismatic and most importantly of all, good-willed. Each of these characteristics fits Kotetsu Kaburagi to a T and on occasion are cranked up a few extra levels. Having been inspired to become a hero after being saved from a bank robbery when he was a young boy, Kotetsu's number one priority in his profession is to do what's right to protect the people of Sternbild city and at any cost. Unfortunately, Kotetsu is incredibly serious about his heroics, to the point where he kind of gets himself into heap loads of trouble. Though it's true that he loves what he does and will gladly take on any kind of obstacle, he's not particularly light on his feet or quick-witted at solving certain problems. Kotetsu is a major clutz and this tends to make his grand shining moments look more like outtakes from a collection of World's Funniest Hero Moments. He's also not exactly the youngest hero around (already nearing 40), giving him the image of a veteran hero that should probably throw in the towel by now. Added with his very reckless behavior, it's really no wonder that he's not the most popular or well-liked hero around. Thankfully this isn't something that bothers Kotetsu... much. He tries his best to seem as cool and awesome as possible like throwing a weird pose or attempting to say a cool-sounding catchphrase or toss out a thoughtful word of advice, though more often than not these attempts tend to fail with very bad-timing, a fuzzy memory that keeps him from properly remembering certain words and phrases and just what seems to be a natural inability to not make himself look like an idiot. Even with how awkward of a person he is, Kotetsu doesn't let any of it drag him down and does his best through thick and thin.

Kotetsu is an amazingly caring individual who is the epitome of someone who wears their heart on their sleeve. He has a habit of expressing his emotions and feelings as loudly, and occasionally embarrassingly, as possible. This expressiveness tends to take on a very childish and immature tone which makes it hard to believe that he's a bit old, or that he's even a hero in the first place, but he does have his moments of composed maturity, as rare as they are. Along with his emotional attachments to people is his complete loyalty and devotion. Kotetsu makes it his top goal to be as reliable and dependable as is possible to all kinds of people, not just as a hero but as a human being. This is all most emphasized with the feelings he holds toward his family. Though Kotetsu is a widower, he has absolutely no problem with continuing to wear his wife's wedding ring and has kept a promise to her to always continue being a hero. His daughter means absolutely everything to him and he dotes and fawns over her as much as is humanly possible, much to Kaede's chagrin. However, this does not slow him down a single bit, and though his presence in her life has always been limited and strained due to being a hero, he will always be a devoted father determined to be there for her.

When Kotetsu is paired up with a somewhat stick-in-the-mud partner named Barnaby Brooks Jr., Kotetsu initially is not that pleased about the situation and does whatever he can to poke jabs at the younger and eventually much more popular hero. This includes things like giving him a ridiculous nickname ("Bunny"), coming up with weird birthday present ideas and occasionally trying to poke his head into Barnaby's personal life. This results in the two having a very strained relationship, but over time the two begin to bond and through various harrowing obstacles, they become the true definition of partners. In fact, the two become so close that when Kotetsu finally decides to retire from his career as a hero, Barnaby chooses to do the same, as he refuses to be a hero if he can't work alongside his longtime partner. Kotetsu has a kind of magnetism to him, a certain charm that initially people are not sure of how to deal with, but somehow it pulls them in and helps them to realize just how compassionate and loving Kotetsu is. As he discovers certain secrets about Barnaby's life, such as the mysterious murder of his parents and the eventual betrayal of the man Barnaby considered as a father-figure, he does his best to make sure he can do whatever he can to get the two closer to answers.

As determined and assured as he is to make sure he's the constant reliance of other people, Kotetsu himself has some rather troubling issues that he never bothers revealing. He is the constant shoulder to lean on for everyone that he meets and yet he simply can't allow himself to become a burden in any way. This is revealed clearly when Kotetsu realizes his powers are diminishing with time and that the hero he used to idolize as a child, Mr. Legend, had also gone through the same power decline and had become an abusive alcoholic who could barely get a single crime taken care of without outside assistance. Kotetsu made a promise to his deceased wife that he'd continue to be a hero no matter what, and yet soon enough he realizes he must start contemplating retirement just as his partner begins to find new complications in uncovering the organization named Ouroboros, who are apparently behind his parent's deaths. Unwilling to let others worry for him, he hides his troubled feelings and continues to go along with things as well as he can. Though eventually his secret is uncovered, he comes to learn that it's not the fairest for him to try and gain someone's trust without providing his own as well, and that being open about the things that bother him isn't all that bad of a thing for him to do. Trust is a two-way street, and he learns that the sort of reliance he gives with others can just as easily be given to him with no repercussions. Needing help isn't a sign of weakness; it strengthens bonds that you never knew you were capable of having, no matter how experienced or how independent you think you are. Everyone can have a hero, even heroes themselves.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
[ + ] "Look on the bright side." That is just about Kotetu's motto. He's painfully optimistic, and if you're not, he'll be sure to help you out with that.
[ + ] Literally speaking, Kotetsu is a force to be reckoned with. Even without his powers, he's got a great amount of strength, agility, and some surprisingly trusty reflexes. Because of the amount he's trained over his career as a Hero, he's not exactly a lightweight.
[ + ] Kotetsu is immensely trustworthy and reliable. Need someone to talk to? A shoulder to lean on? An extra boost of confidence or just some help with a few errands? Kotetsu is more than glad to do anything for someone in need, no matter who they are or what the circumstances are.
[ + ] No one gives you second-chances like this guy. Even criminals deserve some opportunity to turn over a new leaf, because people are seen as precious things in Kotetsu's eyes, worth protecting no matter what.
[ + ] He's really damn good at making fried rice. Because it's the only thing he knows how to cook.

[ - ] Even though Kotetsu is in fact very physically strong, he has a habit of screwing things up a lot. He has a very animated personality that fits with his lively movements. He can trip, break something, punch someone accidentally all in the blink of an eye. It's not intentional, but boy, does it cause problems sometimes. ...more than sometimes, sometimes.
[ - ] As friendly and amicable as Kotetsu is, he also has kind of a firey temper when something gets on his bad side. He's got morals and standards that just can't be toyed with. When something or someone bothers him, he'll be very clear in saying so and he won't be very quiet about it. It isn't to say that he goes around picking fights, but he draws a very narrow line on where he can just about chew someone out for offending or upsetting him, or worse, someone he cares for. Get on his bad side and you'll most likely pay for it somehow.
[ - ] Kotetsu is a very simple old man, which means he doesn't really live by many life rules. That includes not really finding a need to be able to cook a lot of meals, or cleaning up his own messes, or managing his drinking (he really loves to drink).
[ - ] Kotetsu has gained a significant amount of trauma from the death of his wife, which has caused him to become very uncomfortable and distraught over death itself. He can't even stand to see criminals die in front of him. It makes him feel weak and usless and incompetent, and as a Hero who should be helping lives, it's just not excusable.
[ - ] He tries his best to hide it, but deep down, Kotetsu isn't as good at being open about his own problems or negative emotions as he expects others to be. He offers a shoulder to lean on, but typically, he doesn't seek one out himself. If you ask him about his day, he'll try to be as positive as possible and turn the subject back on you, even if he's had a shitty time and might want to talk about it.

Character
Name: Barnaby Brooks, Jr.
Series: Tiger & Bunny
Timeline: episode 25, pre-timeskip
Canon Resource Links: wikipedia; T&B wikia; TVTropes

Personality: From the start, Barnaby Brooks Jr. looks like a young woman's dream: tall, good looks, kind smile, charming personality. And in many ways, Barnaby fits that mold almost perfectly. He's very friendly and courteous when it comes to dealing with the public and knowing what he should do. He knows how to handle being in the spotlight with a modest aura, and tends to accept praise and cheers with a smile and a polite thank you. He has no problem signing autographs and ruffling the hair of small children. When it comes to the Hero TV staff and 'acting normally', he puts on his most well-behaved, charismatic smile and does his best to appear cheerful. Part of the job is making the public love you, after all.

But not all is just fun and games in the life of Barnaby, celebrity hero. Barnaby is a hero, and that means helping others and working with people. He takes this job seriously enough to know that first and foremost, a hero has to protect the people. Be it another hero or a young child, Barnaby will easily put himself in harm's way to save another--within reason, of course. After all, his debut on the hero scene was saving his soon-to-be partner, Wild Tiger (or Kotetsu), and going after the troublesome culprit himself. He often thinks about strategies or ways to catch the villain in question with minimal damage to their surroundings, tending to take his job rather seriously when it comes to gathering points for the television program.

Unfortunately, part of Barnaby's hero act is also just for show. Part of the Hero TV system they work with offers points for citizens rescued and criminals captured. Early on, Kotetsu catches that Barnaby cares about the points, and he does, mostly because they give more popularity and incentive to the job. And although Barnaby thinks that most of the hero business is just an occupation, he's retired his distant, negative attitude and has finally come to accept the comraderie of the other heroes. He never cared for getting close to them, but after months of working with them and after first finding the 'murderer' of his parents, he finally opened up and they warmed up to him. He's only particularly close to one, his partner, Kotetsu, previously known as an 'Old Man', but he's quite nice to the others when he wants to be. He still seems to make sport of bothering Kotetsu to keep himself entertained, smirking after calling him an 'Old Man' and watching him get riled up after it, but it's done in good fun nowadays. The two have an odd partnership.

Frustration is usually what peels away his calm exterior and truly shows his emotions, the prime example being the one thing that frustrates Barnaby the most: his parents' death. Barnaby's parents were murdered before his eyes, his only memory of the culprit being this mark of the Ouroboros on the man's skin. Because of this, any time the symbol is mentioned or catches Barnaby's eye, he's quickly riled up. He becomes more violent towards the criminal who bears the tattoo, and his judgment takes a turn for the reckless. A criminal has been killed because Barnaby couldn't control his temper and let his guard down. He tries harder to control this, but it's only worked a bit more in recent months with his partner there to remind him to keep his cool.

He has a difficult time connecting with people on an emotional basis a majority of the time. When the hero facade falls, one's left with a quiet, awkward, overly-polite Barnaby who acts on his own interests and what personally drives him. Part of his hero business was just to find out the murderer of his parents and to understand and stop those who bear the symbol, but outside of hero functions and gatherings, he's quite odd when around others. He doesn't spend time for fun social interactions, and he doesn't celebrate his birthday--in fact, he becomes angered when Kotetsu tries to plan a birthday surprise for him. He doesn't have hobbies, save for looking up clues, and while he's gotten better at having conversations with others, he's still all sorts of awkward and blunt. The only few individuals he's been able to connect with on a more emotional level, outside of Kotetsu, are his old maid and sitter, Samantha Taylor, and his surrogate father and head of HeroTV, Albert Maverick. Samantha had been around since Barnaby was little, and he often refers to her as an 'aunt'. When his parents were killed, she became his only true 'family' left, and he treasures her dearly. She's very sweet, and he tends to call her when he just needs a motherly, familiar face to speak to. She also bakes him a crumble cake for his birthday each year. Maverick too had been part of Barnaby's life before his parents died; when he was in the orphanage, he spent lots of time with Maverick, treating this man like a father figure. Maverick was one of the few people Barnaby truly confided in, to the point where Barnaby found himself in the older man's office whenever he's having a bad day and just needs advice; but after these two left his life, he was left with only his partner.

Kotetsu, of all the heroes, is Barnaby's idol, although he's only admitted this once. As the two grew together in their working partnership, Barnaby had come to rely on the older hero as a person with many years of experience and a very caring attitude. While he still grows annoyed when Kotetsu meddles too much, he's very grateful to have someone around who still checks up on him and allows him to confide in him. Barnaby's grown close to the other heroes as well, enough to hold conversations and go on outings with, but none will ever be as close to him as Kotetsu is.

He's finally worked out the mystery of his parents death, which has left him in an odd place mentally. While the Ouroboros symbol and everything still attached brings him pain and immediately points him to anger, he feels a sense of conclusion with it. Conclusion and loss all in one, actually: he's not sure where to take his life from here. Having become a hero just to find who murdered his parents, his sense of purpose is gone and his life is left open for him to decide. The decision doesn't come easily, as the only close person he has left is his partner who has a life to live of his own. Barnaby's still haunted by the memories of his past, but he's still wishing to move forward.

Strengths/Weaknesses: Barnaby's very strategic. From the start of his hero duties, he planned strategies around not only stopping the criminal, but gaining the most points and exposure for HeroTV. He's very observant and watchful, which comes in handy when on a mission as he will keep an eye out for as many parties involved as possible, and he's quick to react to the first sign of danger.

Barnaby's very strong physically. He works out near daily, and even with his hero ability to multiply his physical prowess by a hundred, it's even stronger when he himself is stronger. So even without the super-strength, he's able to easily carry a grown man in armor.

As for brains, he's smart and just as quick mentally. He's very apt at understanding new technology, capable of picking up the new specifics of his Hero suit upon the first explanation. Not to mention, he's extremely good at investigation. Having investigated his parents' murder to some of the finest, most hard-to-uncover details, he's got a very sharp eye and very nice investigation skills. From court dates to hidden files, Barnaby's found a way to get a ridiculous amount of information, which he's been searching for by himself since childhood.

However, this young hero is quite awkward. Growing up an orphan and focusing almost solely on finding his parents' murderer, Barnaby didn't spend much time interacting with people. A lot of his prime interactions were on surface level only, from smiling at girls to dinner parties and group outings; but inwardly, he's pretty quiet, without much to say and not always certain of the best way to respond to a situation.

He's also got a nasty temper. It came into play when he attacked a criminal with the Ouroboros tattoo, which led to said criminal's untimely death; he assumed Kotetsu couldn't be trusted when going up against Jake from Ouroboros, who had challenged all of the heroes in one-on-one fights. Hell, when brainwashed and thinking Kotetsu was a murderer, he launched out at Kotetsu, to kill instead of capture.

He's also stubborn as hell and quite stand-offish, which may make or break him in the near future. He's not prone to listening to others when he's already got his mind set on something, and he tends to keep his distance from those who he doesn't trust or gets very testy with them if they try to pry too much. Not only that but this boy doesn't feel the ~need~ for medical treatment unless he's bleeding all over the place. Word of God says that, even after a very ridiculously violent battle in the near future, Barnaby just went home to sleep off bruises and whatnot instead of, you know, getting it treated. (All in all, Barnaby's got very moronic issues sometimes where a simple smack to the head could probably demonstrate all of your frustrations with some of the things he does.)

Samples
First Person Sample: [It starts off with Barnaby standing in front of Whitney's gym, a plain badge pinned to his vest and his trusty Buneary perched on his shoulder. He looks rather confused about something.]

...I've been meaning to ask. As I've been here a few weeks already, I've traveling about and collecting badges. I tried inquiring with the gym leaders, but upon speaking with Whitney, she merely complimented my pokémon and invited me to the next battle of cute pokémon.

Seeing as they don't seem to have a conclusive answer, I thought it might be best to inquire with you all. Do... [He glances over at the gym, as if concerned of being overheard. But, to play it safe, he steps away.]

Do these badges have any particular significance outside of becoming a 'master'? They seem mostly for show or status, but I do wonder if they mean anything else. Anything would be appreciated. Thank you.

[The Buneary smiles and waves, doing its best to look really cool. Barnaby just tilts the gear over for a final wave and stops the connection.]

Third Person Sample: So it was a bunny. Kotetsu's laughter behind him just reinforced the fact that this world had a horrendous sense of humor. It wasn't particularly horrendous, just a brown rabbit-like monster with golden tufts of fur the same shade of his hair, and it stared up at him with intense curiosity. Approximately a foot and a half, if that tall, it had long, floppy ears and bounced slightly as it stood before him.

According to the 'mother' inside, this little rabbit was his. And it, indeed, resembled the creature that held onto an annoying (yet somehow treasured) nickname of his.

Lips pursed, Barnaby knelt down before the little creature, reaching a hand out carefully. If it was rabid, he was going to abandon it and leave... It didn't look like it could be, but given the odd nature of the situation, there was always that chance. But... it really did look harmless. And if a simple mother would go out of her way to hand him a little creature thinking it was going to her child, Barnaby doubted she would hand him something overly dangerous. The small gesture seemed enough, as the rabbit hopped over, head nuzzling right into Barnaby's fingers. He scratched the little thing behind the ears, just sighing.

"So I guess you are mine, then," he mumbled, sounding almost defeated. As he wasn't sure where he was or what sort of NEXT ability might have caused it, the most he could do in this situation was go along with the occurrences before him. ...Even if that meant taking this stupid rabbit. Tuning out Kotetsu's spluttering and laughter behind him, he just continued to pet the creature, eyes glancing around to take in their surroundings. They were in a tiny village town, unknown and nowhere near Sternbild or Oriental Town, supposedly on some other world, with a backpack of ill-fitting supplies, a map, and some sort of outdated PDA. There really was no way this could have happened without some sort of NEXT... Sighing, Barnaby just shook his head. "This is ridiculous. Well... Let's try to find out who caused this."

Character
Name: Minamimoto Sho
Series: The World Ends With You
Timeline: Post-canon
Canon Resource Links: Wiki page

Personality: He's a cheerful megalomaniacal sociopathic mathematical genius with psychotic tendencies, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and a maths fetish. He's arrogant as hell, and smart enough not to show it most of the time. He'll happily play with people's heads until he's bored and then might or might not hurt them physically.

His megalomania is shown primarily in his desire to topple Joshua and take over the role of Composer for himself; he gives every indication of not giving a damn about the Game except as it allows him to get closer to Joshua. His mathematical genius is a canon point, most of his quotes are somehow related to mathematics and he is completely obsessed over making jokes that only a mathematician would notice, let alone understand. Psychotic tendencies are expressed in his apparent detachment from the reality of his situation in many aspects, including but not limited to the fact that he refuses to allow the other Reapers to Erase Players despite the fact that without doing so they will die. His OCD shows up both in his irrational, obsessive "sculptures" made out of trash - which he claims are a "precisely calculated form of art" and his habit of breaking into pi at random (specifically in the middle of his own monologue).

Sho repeatedly shows his arrogance, he blows off his superiors, he ignores his underlings, he spends more time toying with Neku (and Josh) than he does actually fighting them. Some of that is to put his Taboo Noise plan into action, but some of it is just the feeling that he's that much better than everyone else.

It'd be easy to say that Sho doesn't realise his rather unique problems, but the truth is he does...he just doesn't care. While, in a vague way, he'd like to 'get' what people see in emotional relationships it's not a big focus in his life and is easily and often buried under his short attention span and overwhelming curiosity. He can't stand not knowing something that other people know, to the point where he will throw himself into stupidly dangerous (and just stupid) situations in order to gather the information if it's not offered. He tends to trust to his powers to keep him safe. His ego won't admit anything else. That's going to trip him up a lot, not having those powers.

The truth of the matter is that Sho rarely interacts with anyone directly in canon. The first time he's shown it's a brief scene where he blows off orders and insults his peers. He calls Kitaniji Megumi, the head Reaper, "Megs", he calls the first Game Master a "bulldozer" and says that Higashizawa will eat the players rather than Erase them, and when his superiors attempt to convince him that Higashizawa is an excellent Reaper, Sho's response is "Cooperation is garbage", and then he leaves...before Megumi even begins the meeting. It is apparently not unheard of, as Megumi says to just let him go.

Later, when handed control of a weeks worth of Reaper's Game and command of all the basic Reapers he prefers to work alone to the point where some of his underlings complain about being bored. They don't have any idea of what he wants to have happen. The majority of Reapers are shown to have some form of kinship with each other, forming working partnerships or at least spending time with each other and talking about their plans. Sho does none of this. This refusal to work with others is one of his primary traits.

Joshua even remarks on Sho's lackluster treatment of the rules; "Day 1, and the GM's already putting in an appearance? Not one for tradition, are you?"

Sho even cuts off contact entirely with his superiors, and again it's dismissed as being perfectly normal for him, and even when he commits treason by summoning Taboo Noise Megumi allows it to pass by.

He does, however, show a certain twisted sort of fairness in his dealings with other people; when he stole 777's microphone he left his beloved megaphone in it's place. He also helps Neku and Josh when they are over-matched, although that appears to be more so that he can have his plans fall out his way rather than winning by default - for Sho the point of the Game is not to Erase all of the players, but to kill Josh. In addition, his willingness to listen to Hanekoma shows that he's capable of listening to others if they have information he needs or wants.

Unlike Higashizawa, and theoretically unlike other Game Masters if we take Josh's comment about tradition as correct, Sho is constantly poking his nose into what Neku and Josh are doing. This may be an attempt to keep an eye on his target, but Josh implies that it's because Sho is an attention whore. It's not enough to be the best, he also wants to be known as the best.

He does show himself to be adaptable; when Josh and Neku show up at Pork Tower, rather than where Sho intended to fight them, he rolls with it. Upon being defeated, he shows that his obsession still rules him: he uses a level i Flare to attempt to take out Josh and himself, although the sigils that he has set up allow him to be reborn as Taboo Noise himself. This, and the fact that his wings break, seem to imply that even his status as a Reaper doesn't matter in the face of his quest to win. "Fear 'n' mercy are garbage" he says.

The truth of the matter is that canon doesn't say why Sho acts the way he does. We are given his actions, but no context to fit them in. We see Sho through Joshua's eyes, and we know that Josh is an unreliable narrator due to the fact that he's lying from the moment he opens his mouth on Week 2 Day 1.

To go more deeply into the facets that make me believe that he has the specific mental disorders that I see in him I've included some research into them, and how they can be seen in Sho.

The megalomaniac believes that they are convinced of their own superiority to a level that may even include a belief that they are omnipotant. The megalomaniac has a lack of empathy towards anything that does not feed his own belief in himself. This does not mean that they are completely incapable of empathy, but rather that they develop connections to things that make them feel better about themselves. Megalomania often comes paired with narcissism. Narcissism is often a reaction to a poor self-esteem based on a neglectful or otherwise unhealthy childhood. We obviously do not know what Sho's childhood was like, but it is likely considering the symptoms that he shows during the game that he has the narcissism-megalomania pairing. Megalomaniacs do not usually believe that other people are on their level, however they need other people around; when entirely alone they are at the mercy of their low self-esteem and cannot 'prove' that they are the best. While the low-charismatic megalomaniac will work badly with people, he will still need at least one person around to show off to.

Sho is also a sociopath. “Sociopath” is the common name for a person suffering from Antisocial Personality Disorder. This, again, is characterized by a lack of empathy – however many sociopaths are quite capable of holding down relationships over decades of time. Some people are born sociopaths, however in some people this is a learned protective quality. In the “learned” sociopath not all of the APD symptoms are present, notably the learned sociopath is far more capable of making genuine emotional connections under certain sets of circumstances. Anger and stress management classes, psychotherapy, and medication can all help the sociopath walk closer to normal. As I have no reason to believe that Sho was born a sociopath, and I prefer to play a character who is capable of emotional growth, I am stating that for the sake of the ability to build positive CR that Minamimoto Sho is a learned sociopath.

Psychosis, or psychotic episodes, are more a symptom of other things than a diagnosis of their own. These are very different from psychopathic behaviour – which Sho does not show evidence of. Psychotic episodes are passing, they come and go and between them the person is as normal as they ever are. Psychotic episodes are sometimes linked to sufferers of schizophrenia, although not always. During a psychotic episode there are many different experiences that can be had; Sho's list contains disorganized speech patterns, difficulty with spoken communication, confusion, emotional volatility, and rapidly changing moods as well as delusions. Psychosis often dissolves when other disorders suffered by the patient are treated.

Now the giant collection of “How I Assume Sho's Mind Works”, starting with the psychotic break because regardless of how a break is started the result is a drastic, traumatic, shift in perception and view of life. Even if the break lasts a few hours, rather than weeks or months, it leaves scars that can last a lifetime. More on that in a bit. I see the three most likely places for this psychotic break to have come from one of three points:
1) His death and entrance into Reaper's Game.
2) Upon finding out the stakes of Reaper's Game (not just life, but what is most precious) or
3) Upon finding out that Reapers must continue to Erase (or “kill”) others in order to prolong his own life. (See: “Konishi: Sigh... Since I can't reverse evolution and speak your language, I'll keep this brief. You may be a Player now, but you still broke Reaper rules. Which means you have a penalty coming. They explained to you that a Reaper's points determine his or her lifespan?” and “Konishi: As you wish. 0 points. That leaves you with about five days to live, including today.”

With the exception of the narcissism and OCD, which I touched on above, I believe that the shift in reality due to the psychotic break created new pathways in his mind on a chemical level.

As stated earlier, I choose to believe that he has a learned sociopathic response for the sake of being able to have positive CR rather than merely shades of negative CR, which I also attribute to the knowledge that his life now depends on the repeated and continual death of other people; people who are just like he was when he was first thrown into the Game.

This itself could have lead into the development of what was a simple “narcissism” into the level of “megalomania”; the knowledge that killing the Composer is a possibility, and one which (we can assume) lifts one out of being a Reaper and needing to continue the violent cycle could make that transition even easier. If his thought processes were; “I am good at mathematics (and secretly fear not being good enough at anything else)” then bolstering his own ego with the concept of others being worthless and useless, and in comparison himself being king- or god-like, makes sense.

It's also interesting to me to note that, aside from releasing the Taboo Noise into the Game, Sho does not target any player pairing except the one that contains Josh. No missions are ordered, and the Reapers are told to stand down and not interefere.

It is, to me, a very, very intriguing note. It could mean that he knows this is an “all or nothing” Game for him and doesn't care about prolonging his life even farther, it could mean that he's got enough time stocked up that one week without kills won't matter much to him, it could mean that he is trying to sabotage the other Reapers and keep them from gaining more time and possibly weeding out some of the least active ones if they will die before the next Game without those kills, or maybe – just maybe – he is looking out in a twisted, hands-off kind of way for the kind of people that he used to be. Kariya says; “Three weeks in a row? That's a first, even for me.” which implies that having Games back-to-back is at best rare, possibly unheard of.

In accordance with my earlier assumptions and views on Sho as a whole, I like the possibility that it's all three. A “damn the torpedoes” situation where he was going to either win and change things to suit himself, with new Reapers who followed his ideas, or go out in a blaze of glory and perhaps take other mass-killers like himself out of the equation. After all, just because “Erasing” doesn't mean that the energy is gone, it does mean that it's no longer who it once was unless something drastic is done to it. (See Rhyme being turned into a pin.)

Obsessive-compulsive disorder is a very poorly understood disorder which people often assume that they know very well from the portrayal in films and other forms of media. OCD is a pairing of cause and effect that short-circuit the rest of the brain. An obsession generally related to an anxiety will form, which leads to the compulsion to do something in a specific manner in order to ease that anxiety. There are no logical reasons for the obsessions which form, nor are there ways to stop the compulsions easily. The standard Hollywood OCD person generally has an obsession with germs, however that is not an omnipresent symptom. Sho's obsessions revolve around his other disorders; proving that he is the best and proving that he is worthwhile to himself. This leads to compulsive building of large sculptures – something that cannot be ignored based entirely on their size. It should be noted that Sho's canonical obsession with Josh/the Composer, is not related to Josh as a person, but rather as a trophy: by beating the Composer, Sho would be the Composer. In Route there is absolutely no reason to go after Josh. He's just another trainer, after all. Beating him here wouldn't mean anything.

My feeling is that Sho's trash-heap sculptures; due to the quantity of them that he makes, are a presentation of OCD behaviour. If he made one or two I could see it as just being a quirk, but you find them spread across the game as a whole during his week. While his ego demands that he puts some kind of grandiose meaning behind them, in accordance with my belief that he's got something approaching a normal set of emotions how could he not be anxious about the fact that he was going to be challenging the Composer? Building the heaps allows him to soothe that anxiety while also giving him a way to attempt to elevate himself. We do not, after all, see any heaps prior to Sho's week, and if he just did them for the hell of it I'd assume that you'd see at least one of them around.

((Aheh, this was too long for just one comment. -.-))

Flashbacks (in chronological order of Kakashi's life) in Chapters 607, 599, 239-244, 629 (there are spoilers in this chapter), 604 & 605, 607 (again), 503

Personality:

Kakashi at this age is a bit of a jerk. Okay, not nearly as much as he used to be but he hasn’t yet reached the level of playfulness that his older shelf has. The hardness that Kakashi can show stems from the fact that his father was a great shinobi and one that he looked up to. He was revered and feared by many up until the point where he put his team over his mission and it helped lead to a great world-wide war. Sakumo was dishonored and even slandered by the village until he fell into a deep depression and took his own life. The hole it made in Kakashi’s life made him withdraw and become harsh. He lived by the shinobi rules and discarded everything useless in his life – including his own teammates. Kakashi even starting hiding his face with a mask because he looked so much like his father and wanted nothing to do with him.

Because of his coldness and ideals Kakashi never got along with Obito. They were always fighting, with Kakashi always putting the other boy down with harsh words and cold looks. They never quite seemed to see eye-to-eye on matters and it turned them into rivals despite the fact that they were on the same team. Kakashi was always outdoing him and Obito was always left behind trying to catch up. Generally it led to Obito to be frustrated and Kakashi never hesitated to quote rules at him.

Due to the fact that Kakashi lived and breathed the shinobi code, he’s a very skilled shinobi. He was the first on the team to make it to jounin levels, though Kakashi’s attitude often pushed away his teammates when he should have worked together with them. It sort of makes his leadership skills a bit of a failure. Yet it makes him very aware of his surroundings and perceptive as hell. He can sense when there’s danger nearby and react accordingly. Ever since his father’s death, Kakashi has strived to be better than him – to be stronger and a perfect shinobi. Though he ended up lacking when it came down to leading his first mission which led to fatal mistakes. Now his determination to be stronger lies in protecting the people he cares about, so he’ll do everything he can to make sure they stay safe.

However, after losing Rin to the enemy a fight broke out between the two boys and has made Kakashi rethink his attitude. Obito basically told him that those who didn’t care about their teammates were worse than trash. Initially Kakashi turned away and continued on with his mission instead of rescuing his teammate, pushing aside the part of him that was afraid of the past. It wasn’t until he was alone when he remembered how Rin treated his wounds and Obito’s words and it was a huge turning point for him. He abandoned his mission and put his fellow teammates first. He even went so far as to take an injury in order to save Obito from being killed.

In the end it was Obito’s death that caused the biggest change in him, losing a teammate he’d never even been nice to was hard. Especially considering that Obito had sacrificed himself to save Kakashi and then proceeded to give him the undamaged sharigan. Kakashi promised to protect Rin and continued to live on for Obito’s sake. He also started to take on Obito’s ideals and morals, something that can be easily seen in his future when he teaches Team 7 that teammates come first. Though for now, as time went by it’s evident that he takes Obito’s last request very seriously. When Rin was captured he went after her, wanting to protect her even from herself. Yet in the end he failed and she died by his own hand. It was pretty traumatic for him. And now the last of his team has died, his sensei Minato. Yet another person who’s sacrificed themselves for the good of someone else. Needless to say, reuniting with them will be a pretty big deal for Kakashi.

Since Rin’s death, Kakashi has taken on small parts of Obito’s personality. It’s not yet reached the level it is in the future considering he’s still living in hard times but he is late to meetings quite a bit, usually making up a lie to go with it. Generally Kakashi’s late because he stands at the graves of his teammates and loses track of the time talking to them. This is something he does a lot of, just talking about what’s going on. Then because he doesn’t want people to know what he’s doing Kakashi makes up strange lies or uses ones Obito has in the past. He’s also become a bit more tolerable of things that would have annoyed him in the past, such as a fellow shinobi constantly challenging him.

He hasn’t yet completely taken on the happy-go-lucky attitude he has in the future. No, he’s still a bit somber in his daily life though he’s far more tolerable than he was in the past. Plus a lot of the bite and harshness has gone away. It’ll be noticeable to those who knew him when he was a cold jerk that he’s lightened up a bit. Not to mention that he doesn’t quote shinobi rules anymore. However, that doesn’t mean he won’t pick on people in a teasing manner in a flat tone. Change doesn’t happen overnight, after all. He still has a long way to go before he’s the sensei Naruto, Sakura and Sasuke know. Though he does keep things bottled up quite nicely. Kakashi probably won’t talk much about the fact that everyone but him is dead.

There is one thing about him that hasn’t changed though, and that’s his merciless attitude. As a shinobi he’s been trained to kill and he will if that’s his mission. He doesn’t think twice about the fact that he’s taking a life (unless it’s someone he cares about). Any enemy of his should think twice about attacking one of his teammates though. Kakashi is completely ruthless when angered. There was no hesitation in going after the shinobi that killed Obito, no room for forgiveness either. He wouldn’t be stopped in his vengeance, not even when his blade snapped in half. Basically, don’t mess with his team and everything will be fine.

When he arrives in Route there will be so much more added guilt on Kakashi’s shoulders. Not only is he suddenly faced with his entire dead teammates but facing Obito after failing to protect Rin will pile on more. He’ll be reluctant to talk about it, with anyone, and probably never want to tell Obito. Plus Kakashi has yet to actually deal with the fact that his sensei and sensei’s wife just died so there’s going to be a whole chunk of denial about that particular issue. Kakashi is not the sort to shed tears though Obito’s eye has betrayed him in the past on that.

Strengths/Weaknesses:

◆ As a shinobi Kakashi has stealth skills.
◆ He's been trained in hand-to-hand combat along with kunai, shurikens and short swords.
◆ His strength and agility are also far better than a normal 14 year old.
◆ Kakashi has intelligence, skill and aptitude. He graduated the Academy at five years old after only a year and joined his team. He became a Chunin a year after joining the team and was also the first out of his teammates to become a Jounin. That means he's capable of leading his team. (Though honestly, both of his teammates died when he was in charge.)
◆ Perceptive. Even without the use of the Sharigan, Kakashi was always able to detect when trouble was near.
◆ Determined. Kakashi is always looking to strengthen himself. It's important in attempting to protect the ones he cares about
◆ Survivor. Not only has Kakashi survived the deaths of his entire team, he survived a war. While he may not exactly be happy about it he lives on.
◆ Creative. Only maybe not so much anymore. He created a new jutsu called the Chidori and later the Raikiri. This shows that he had some level of creativity before he became known as the Copy Ninja.
◆ Obito. Okay so maybe a few would think that Obito is kind of a weakness because he's a derp but actually, he kind of brought out the best in Kakashi. He made Kakashi start thinking about his feelings and abandon his previous way of thinking that emotions are unnecessary baggage. Since Obito's death, he's far more focused on saving/helping his teammates now and loosened up a little.
◆ Loosened up some. He used to be such a stick-in-the-mud, always reciting rules and putting Obito down. While he'll still poke fun at Obito's expense (and possibly others), there won't be nearly as much malice in it.
◆ His mask. It's something Kakashi wears a lot of the time. It's great for hiding a good chunk of his face and can give him an excellent poker face. Also, great material for poking fun at people who want to see under it.
◆ First-aid training. He can tend to minor wounds with a first-aid like kit. Though Kakashi generally left the healing to Rin.

◈ Teammates.
They're Kakashi's biggest strength and weakness. He finally learned what it meant to be a teammate, accepted that it was okay to put them before the mission and what do they do? They up and die on him. ALL OF THEM. In about a year span. Obviously he'll be overprotective of all of them which could be considered a great weakness - especially in the shinobi world.
◈ His father.
When Kakashi's father committed suicide due to the ridicule of choosing to save his teammates instead of completing his mission, it set Kakashi on the path to pushing away everything that was unnecessary. It made him a bit of a jerk, to be honest. He's slowly getting away from that but Konoha wasn't built in a day.
◈ His eyes.
Under normal circumstances Kakashi's left eye is a great help to him thanks to the fact that he implanted Obito's Sharigan in it. While he'll still be able to use it to see, it'll lose it's special abilities to let him see chakra. Also, he covers it a lot (due to the fact that overuse can tire him out), which means he has to compensate for the lack of full peripheral vision. It'll be a little weird adjusting to both these things and thus a weakness. Note: His left eye will look like a sharigan (because it never changes back to normal) but will be useless except to see with.
◈ Gai.
Kakashi's long-time rival. Or something. Gai seems to think that he needs to beat Kakashi so he's constantly challenging him. Kakashi acts aloof about the whole thing but agrees in the end. Actually, this is a bonding experience for them. It builds trust and camaraderie.

◇ Guilt. OMG so much guilt you can't even begin to understand. Guilt for killing Rin, for not saving Obito & Minato, for breaking his promise to Obito.
◇ Lots of repressed emotions and memories. How could he not when he saw his two teammates die (killed one of them) and just got news of his Minato and Kushina's death too. He won't want to talk about it.
◇ Still has that harsh attitude as a defense mechanism. He hasn't yet completely transitioned over to being more Obito-like.
◇ Tardiness and lying. That is one thing he's sort of gotten from Obito, always being late and having a story to go with it. Except while Obito was actually sometimes helping little old ladies across town, Kakashi spends every morning talking to Rin and Obito's grave. He tends to lose track of time when he does this.
◇ Porn addiction. Okay, maybe not yet but give it a few years and it will be. He'll become so obsessed with Icha Icha series that even Naruto could use spoilers to make older-Kakashi lose a fight.
◇ It might be a little hard for him to form deep bonds. After the losses he's suffered he'll be a bit hesitant at first but he'll come around eventually.

[Congratulations, Citizens of the Pokemon World. There is a video of a white haired teenage boy wearing a mask over the lower portion of his face but it doesn't stop with that. He also has a dark blue headband pulled down over his left eye. Behind him are the clear signs of trees and open wilderness and in his hand is the paper map.]

What can you tell me about the Gym Leaders in Johto?

Their strengths, weaknesses, how tough you found them to be when you fought them. Anything about your fight with them. I'm attempting to map out our journey but as it turns out my teammate is completely useless on this matter. [The words sound like they should be cruel but they lack bite.]

So the more information, the better.

Third Person Sample:

As if the weird woman calling herself 'mom', the green dog and the music wasn't strange enough, Kakashi also couldn't see through this genjutsu. His left eye wasn't working the way it should - the way it had since the day he'd gotten it. So he pulled of his hitae-ai and used it's reflective surface to look at it. The sharigan still swirled, red with black tomoe. Obito's eye looked like it had the last time Kakashi looked at it so why wasn't it working. He replaces his hitae-ai, pulling it low over his left eye to hide the mismatched eyes and scar. Maybe there would be someone here he could ask.

Time to dig through his bag and see what sort of supplies he had. A pair of clothes, an odd device that could serve as communication, some necessities, food and more importantly - papers. Papers meant information. There was a map and information about being a trainer. He supposed that's why the dog had followed him away from the house as he packed everything back up except for the papers and the communication device. It didn't escape his notice that his weapons were gone. Looks like he really will have to depend on the animal for protection until he could find replacements.

Kakashi stopped to look down at the dog and the dog looked back. "So what am I going to name you?"

The dog sat back on his haunches and wagged his tail in the dirt. In response the ninja crossed his arms over his chest. "What can you do?"

"Electrike!" Well, that was a weird response. Kakashi pointed his communication device at him and he tensed a little when it started talking. He listened to it closely though. "So you're an electric-type Pokemon. I've got just the name for you then. From now on you're going to be Chidori."

It jumped up, putting both front feet on Kakashi's leg and licking his hand enthusiastically. He pushed it down with a stern no. If he was supposed to train this thing then it would not jump on people unless invited. He started toward the road, intent on getting underway as there wasn't much point to sticking around here. "Let's go see if there's anyone we know here, Chidori. And keep quiet about it, now's a good time to learn stealth."

As soon as the words were out of his mouth Kakashi grew tense. There wasn't really anyone left to seek out. Not now that sensei had joined the rest of the team in the afterlife. Sure there was Guy and several others but no teammates. Maybe it was best if he just stuck it out on his own at this point. Yeah, that's what he'd do.

Character
Name: Haruno Sakura
Series: Naruto
Timeline: Pre-Chapter 632
Canon Resource Links: a whole lot of stuff about sakura

Personality: Sakura's debut in the Naruto manga was not what one would call promising. To almost everyone, she generally did't appear to be a very prodigious fighter. She was more worried about her looks than whether or not she was strong, something an enemy shinobi pointed out to her during one of her most pivotal moments in the manga; The Hair Cut. However her intelligence and chakra control had always been praised and still is. Despite Sakura struggling with filling in her role as the heroine of the manga until it was well into the story, she still had her moments in which we saw her potential. For example, being one of the only rookie genin to be able to comprehend and finish a test with no problems that was specifically designed so that a normal genin wouldn't understand it.

Not to mention being the only genin on Team Seven that could inherently pick up tree climbing (without hands) right off the bat, a testament to her excellent chakra control.

Sakura HAS changed since the beginning of the series and that potential started to shine through and show after her 2 1/2 year training with Tsunade. She's become a strong, mature young lady with an obstinate drive to protect those she cares for and stand beside her teammates as an equal. And she could beat your face in with her fists and heal you only to do it again.

To really understand Sakura though, you need to be aware of the individuals that helped Sakura along the way. There are five people in her life that helped shape and develop the young woman we know in the manga now:

Yamanaka Ino was arguably Sakura's first friend at a young age. When Sakura was young, she was picked on for having a wider forehead than the other children. This caused her to be rather shy and self-conscious of herself and hide said forehead with her hair. Sometimes, she can still be rather self-conscious of her appearance because when Ino calls her 'Forehead Girl' or 'Billboard Brow' she reacts. Perhaps not in the same manner as when she was young by crying, but by getting angry and violent. In fact, when anyone insults her or someone she cares deeply about, she can get rather fierce, unforgiving, and violent.

The same could be said for explicit perverts.

As the two girls got older, Sakura decided not to be Ino's friend anymore. This is because as soon as she heard that Ino liked the same person that she did, she decided to be rivals with her. However, it was only Ino who gave her the bit of boldness she needed to say such a thing. Ino was Sakura's goal, to become as strong as her. When they fight during the chunin exams they tie and Sakura is recognized by Ino to be strong and to have 'bloomed into a beautiful flower.'

Ino gave Sakura her stepping stone. Without her, Sakura might still be that crying girl sitting by herself.

If Ino unleashed the brave girl Sakura was deep down, then Uchiha Sasuke definitely revealed Sakura's humility and compassion for others. There was only thing Sakura cared about at first... and that was Sasuke. She cut ties with her best friend over this one boy and spent most of her childhood trying to win him over by growing out her hair (something she learned that Sasuke liked) and trying to gain his attention. But when Sasuke explicitly states she's annoying, we see there's more to her than Sasuke. It's an insult she used regularly with Naruto and while she's still rather critical with Naruto at times, she realizes that her words can hurt and she's much more gentle with him. Different characters have pointed that she acts differently to Naruto numerous times to Sakura.

That compassionate nature also lends to her being a medical ninja and the need to heal and help people and creatures alike. When a little girl has a scraped knee during an invasion, she stops to make sure she heals that knee with a smile before helping her find her guardian.

As Team 7 grows together, Sakura views Sasuke as more than just a cool guy with a handsome face. She sees him for all his flaws and strengths, and she sees Naruto for all his flaws and strengths as well. She learns to care about her teammates through their struggles as a unit and decides that they matter more than anything and she is willing to risk her life for them. She proves that she is willing to do that on multiple occasions, the first time when they are both incapacitated and being attacked by Sound ninja and again when she stands to face the Akatsuki, a group that wants to take Naruto. And many, many times before and after those instances.

That leads us to the third person and other teammate; Uzumaki Naruto. When Naruto is around Sakura shows us she can be 'holier-than-thou', temperamental, and aggressive when the right buttons are pressed. It's not just exclusive to Naruto either as she's gotten on Sai's case a number of times as well. On the flip side, Naruto is someone that brings out Sakura's optimistic view on situations that might seem hopeless. Sakura smiles (even fake ones) when there is no reason to, and she finds hope and uses it as her strength. She especially finds hope in Naruto. A few times, it is commented that Sakura and Naruto are very much similar in how they refuse to give up and how much they hate to lose. He is Sakura's motivation in a lot of ways to become stronger, not only to protect him and Sasuke and anyone else she cares about, but so she won't be left behind.

In front of other people, Sakura appears to be hopeful and bright and optimistic. Deep down though, she worries a lot. It's her ability to bury those worries and move forward that makes Sakura, Sakura. An unbreakable girl.

Sakura doesn't just share her contempt for losing with Naruto but with her master and Hokage of the village, Tsunade. The fourth person in Sakura's life who changed her. Tsunade took her on as a disciple when she saw Sakura's promise and her determination when she asked Tsunade to take her on as a student. She was the person to make Sakura's spirit and willpower even more apparent. She taught Sakura her medical ninjutsu along with super strength; not only that, but she taught Sakura to be confident along with being brave. With her master's teachings in mind, Sakura's absolute faith in Tsunade and her teachings is infallible, if nothing else. It's with Tsunade's strict training that Sakura has a new belief in her abilities and in herself and faces challenges head on. Though sometimes, when it comes to Sasuke especially, she loses that belief and she can doubt herself.

Her heart is much the same as Tsunade's; delicate and bold, shy and angry, kind and aggressive. A heart of a woman -- or as said by Kishimoto. Not to mention, Sakura's already short temper has been made worse after her teachings with Tsunade. Naruto laments as such when he reunites with Sakura and she punches him for trying to use a sexy ninjutsu.

Jiraiya has even stated that Sakura is a second Tsunade in the making, but Kakashi (Sakura's genin teacher) says Sakura has the ability to become an even greater shinobi than Tsunade.

Which brings us to the last person, fifth and final, Hatake Kakashi. Although Kakashi wasn't a very prominent part of Sakura's life, he did teach her something that is very obviously vital to her to this day; teamwork and how important your comrades are. Sakura is usually very law abiding, she was a star student during the Academy and when she first took the bell test she did everything her potential sensei told her to do. She recited and memorized the shinobi laws and she knew them by heart. When Sasuke 'dies' during their first 'C' rank mission, she knew she wasn't supposed to show emotion or cry by rule #25.

Kakashi tells her that 'shinobi that break the rules are trash, but shinobi that don't care about their comrades are even worse than trash.' It's the first serious lesson he teaches his genin and even now, Sakura wants nothing more than to protect her teammates and even her friends -- she risks her life to save Chiyo during her fight with Sasori, an Akatsuki member. Perhaps this is why when her teammate Sasuke turns into a missing-nin, she and Naruto do everything in their power to get stronger so they can make sure to bring him back.

And now, in the face of war, she will do everything in her power to fight because to die while fighting is better than doing nothing: That is the basis of Sakura's character. She is someone who refuses to sit idly by now and not do anything compared to her younger self.

Name: William T. Spears
Series: Kuroshitsuji / Black Butler
Timeline: Manga, ch 65

Will's Wikia page

Personality: Remember, it’s just a job. And there is no place for emotion in a job. We do our duty as grim reapers, no more, no less. We follow orders from on high. And one more thing… take good care of your glasses.

Perhaps it could be said that William puts the "grim" in grim reaper. It’s an easily drawn conclusion (and an accurate one at that) seeing how he appears from the outside: no frills, no nonsense, a reaper of rules and order who follows the code* all reapers operate by to the letter. It’s also quite easy to dismiss him as being all these things and nothing more but it would take a closer eye to notice the finer facets of what exactly makes a reaper a reaper. The most presented before us is William as the manager of his department. The boss. The dude who makes newbies cower with one glare but that’s just one facet. Though most of his personality seems to stem from his work ethic, there’s almost something more, the man beneath the suit, so to speak.

Simply put, he can be the boss from hell. Of course, this all depends on your own work ethic. Do well enough and he’ll leave you alone. Otherwise, he has his eyes on you with no intention of letting up on that surveillance. Normally, William can be seen with a rather dour expression: the eternal lineface so to speak. This sets him far apart from his two subordinates, Grell Sutcliffe and Ronald Knox. Someone has to be the brains of the operation, after all and if he won’t, who will? Unfortunately for his subordinates, William seeks perfection in the workplace. Everything must be just so: hair perfectly done, uniform pressed and worn the right way, reports handed in on time, souls stamped and filed away. One can say William holds rather strict standards for both himself and his work environment. But despite the fact he works rather closely with Ronald and had known Grell since their training days (as according to anime OAV canon), he shows them no measure of favoritism. If anything, it seems he’s far stricter toward them than he is with anyone else. Other people are treated with either mild respect or indifference, this of course depending on how William is treated in turn but those two? They can never get a break.

William’s training method to curb his subordinates misbehavior seems to lie in force, as if that would be the only method they would understand. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to drive his point home very well or those two happen to be terribly thick headed. A common threat comes in the form of overtime (which Will hates as much as Ronald does, apparently) and paycuts but his most favored method involves his scythe which takes the form of extendable pruning shears. He will, without any hesitation and quite literally get all up in your face with said scythe if he finds something offensive about what you’ve just done/said. William shows no qualms about sending the blade out without caring where it lands or if the target manages to avoid it. Truth be told, he uses his scythe for most everything. It acts almost like an extension of his arm and William can be hardly ever seen without it in hand. He seems to be skilled with its use both in and out of combat, be it for using it to serve as a way to get from one place to another or adjusting his glasses or beating up Grell.

As a reaper, he deals greatly in death. This would normally be the sort of subject matter that weighs heavily on one’s shoulders. Other people balk at the idea, some are sent spiraling into depression and haunted by having witnessed so much death but to William, it’s just a job. Just a nine-to-five that pays the bills. Getting attached to the job is unheard of. There is no place for emotions whatsoever. Souls are souls and therefore are easily collected and filed away. No one deserves mercy or special treatment unless they have proven themselves worthy. This line of thinking leaves William with the sort of exterior that portrays him as hardly affected by anything at all. It takes quite a bit to get a reaction out of him and even then the closest you would get to an outward reaction would be a scythe to the face. His own emotions are so easily hidden behind that ice-cold face that one could indeed go so far as to call them repressed. He never shows outward joy, outward surprise, outward sorrow... unless of course this is something that disrupts the order he requires to do his job.

Truth be told, it seems that work is all William really knows and perhaps it is. As mentioned, he clings to these rules death gods follow as a way of life. There is nothing for him but work. “Slave of Commandment” as his image song is so aptly titled. Even the lyrics themselves speak of someone proud and indeed dedicated to their work but the word slave seems so aptly used. He follows these rules but seems to be rather chained by them as well.

The only thing in his life is work and without this, perhaps he would indeed find himself rather lost. Due to his having closed off his emotions, William gives off the air of one who appears rather socially inept. Without a sense of delicacy, he attempts to react to ways best he knows how without a thought to shame or grasp of the situation. Most the time, he has a goal to accomplish and he’s not going to sugarcoat anything to get it to happen. He’ll take the most direct path without any distractions. While this is all well and good for production’s sake, this does nothing at all for William as an individual. Perhaps one can say all this repression leads to a measure of emotional constipation, maybe even confusion if he’s faced with something he’s normally unable to face… say things like fear and love for one. He isn’t sociable. Far from it, really. He doesn’t rub elbows or go out of his way to make friends. He’ll treat people with respect due them as long as they give it back in return. Unless of course that person happens to be a demon.

Demons happen to be the bane of his existence. When you’re a reaper fighting for order, what else would get in your way more than a demon seeking to steal away your work after all? The punishment for allowing a demon to make off with a soul lined for reaping is a written apology done in triplicate, after all. Apparently even the Board is aware of the threat. Demons are cause for extra work, cause for disorder, cause for further overtime so it isn’t any wonder that William feels a rather strong hatred for the creatures. One can even call it near racism for being so. To him, a demon is nothing more than filth, a hated animal, something so utterly vile that he’d rather not have anything to do with them whatsoever. And yet his ways of dealing with them when faced with one are childish to say the least. When forced to share sleeping quarters with Sebastian when they were both undercover at the circus, he reacted by drawing demarcation lines between them and outright refused to touch him even if he had to.

[ The feed comes on with this particular reaper seemingly on the road. He seems… troubled, if anything but then most of the newcomers do, don't they? But finally, after clearing his throat he speaks. ]

Good day. My name is William T. Spears of London's Grim Reaper Dispatch Department. I was told that this device allowed one to communicate with other individuals who have been brought to this world.

[ But how odd… there seems to be a purple… thing coming out of the tall grass behind him. William doesn't seem to notice though and continues to speak. The purple thing reveals itself to be an Aipom and it’s sneaking up behind the reaper. ]

I wish to know if anyone is familiar with my Department or of a ship named the Campania. I am in search of two of my subordinates who I last recall--

[ There is a pause and a sudden cry when the Gear is dropped. It clatters to its side and all you can see is what seems to be a struggle between the reaper and the Aipom as William tries to swat at it. In its tail's grip, one can see what seem to be William's glasses. The scuffle is over when the Aipom manages to knock William to the ground and run off into the nearby forest. ]

M… my glasses… I have to get them back...

[ What you see next is William groping over, squinting at the feed. ]

...My apologies. You weren't meant to see that. I shall continue this at a later date. For now, I have something of the utmost importance that I must attend to.

[ And with that, he cuts the feed. ]

Third Person Sample:
He was more than certain that tree looked familiar. In fact, most of these trees looked familiar. When one couldn't see, everything looked familiar. "Honestly… That Aipom. Once I get a hold of him..." William griped, stumbling about blindly in the bush. The entire forest was a big green blur before him. Not only was he lost but he had managed to allow his glasses to be stolen. Stolen! It was unthinkable, unforgivable, especially for a reaper of his position and calibre. There would be hell to pay once he got them back and could finally see.

"If only I had my scythe." The reaper mumbled, staggering as he steadied himself against a nearby tree.
Somehow, a part of him was grateful neither member of his department was here. He could only imagine how he would never be able to live it down, being seen in this state. No scythe, no glasses, wandering about lost in a forest…

Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

But the forest was alive around him. The wind rustled noisily through the trees, wild pokemon in the distance uttered their cries as they were engaged in battle with each other and another trainer. Perhaps he was approaching this the wrong way. After all, when did he, William T. Spears: Manager of London's Grim Reaper Dispatch Department let anything get the better of him? His hand fumbled with the Pokeball strapped to his side, tossing it into the air and releasing his Pidove.

"Aristotle! Fly ahead and clear a path. While you're there, see if you can find the blasted Aipom that stole my glasses." he ordered. With a coo, the Pidove took wing. William strained to pick out the Pidove's cry. If he kept this up, Aristotle would manage to find him a way out -- and hopefully lead him to that Aipom in question. But a sharp cry caught his attention and out of nowhere, an Aipom carrying a pair of glasses leapt out of the bushes and bounced off his head. Without turning back, it ran off with Aristotle quick on its heels.

William was quick to recover from this and a heartbeat later sent him chasing after the Pokemon with a strained cry of "Don't let that Aipom get away!"

Character
Name: Yuri Petrov
Series: Tiger & Bunny
Timeline: post time-skip
Canon Resource Links: http://tigerbunny.wikia.com/wiki/Lunatic
Personality:
Yuri is a very cold man. He has a strong sense of justice, believing that criminals should be punished by death for their crimes, rather than letting the courts deal with them, or having them rot in prison. Usually he will only strike criminals who have committed murder in some capacity, be it purposeful or accidental.
Yuri had been taught at a young age by his father, Mr Legend, to never turn a blind eye to evil, and he's taken that teaching to heart, although its meaning had been twisted when Yuri killed his own father when the latter was beating his mother. The shy, innocent boy became a bitter monster inside.
Some time later, Yuri became the Judge of the Justice Bureau in Sternbild, around the same time that Barnaby Brooks Jr became HeroTV's newest addition. In formal appearances, he would take on a more gentle appearance, forthcoming to his peers and patient to the Heroes, even Wild Tiger, who he'd see in court on quite a few occasions for property damage.
In private, Yuri lived with his deranged mother, who had suffered greatly with the death of her husband. She would constantly hallucinate, imagining her husband was still alive, and her son was still a little boy, until Yuri would have to remind her again and again that father was dead. She'd scream at him and blame him for everything, and Yuri would just take it, showing his hardened heart. His own life is very empty and filled with pain, and he often hallucinates about his father, Mr Legend, trying to make him contemplate whether he's really understanding his father's words correctly.
Yuri had an alter ego of his own, a vigilante known as Lunatic, who he would assume in order to punish criminals who would prey on the innocent. Murderers deserved their just desserts, not to rot in jail. It was the only justice that made sense, in his eye. As Yuri, he would condemn such vigilantism, but as Lunatic, he would encourage it, even going so far as to accusing the heroes of being weak, that they cannot protect or save anyone as long as they cling to their pathetic moral code.
As Lunatic, Yuri is a lot more outspoken, a lot more confident and arrogant. He likes to bait the heroes, particularly Barnaby. He doesn't want to fight them usually, since they are not his targets. His own moral code only allows him to eliminate criminals, not heroes or the innocent. However, if an innocent person protects a criminal, then they, too, are evil, in Yuri's eyes.
He appears quite interested in Barnaby Brooks Jr and Kotetsu Kaburagi, particularly the latter. On two occasions, the two fought very briefly, though the second time, Kotetsu fought Lunatic without his power suit, becoming severely injured due to the latter's NEXT powers (blue fire). At that time, Lunatic became interested in Tiger's ideals, telling him that he was interested in seeing where his justice would lead him.
When Maverick brainwashed HeroTV and turned the entire city against Kotetsu, Yuri was one of the few to not have been turned, and even appeared (as Lunatic) to help Tiger when he was about to be arrested by the fake Wild Tiger. This shows that Yuri has a curiosity to him, maybe even a weak flame of hope that there is meaning in a justice that differs from his own. Post series, Yuri still assumes the mantle of Lunatic and continues to eliminate criminals, much to the chagrin of the Heroes, but he seems to continue holding interest in Wild Tiger.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
Yuri is extremely intelligent, and tends to not accept things at face value. He will dig into personal files on all the heroes in order to learn whatever he can before believing whatever he's being told. When the city blamed Kotetsu for Amanda's murder, Yuri became suspicious and immediately tried to find Kotetsu's contact details, finding them mysteriously deleted. As the Judge of Sternbild, and also HeroTV's curator, he has ample amounts of information at his finger tips, allowing him to know about every criminal on record, making it simple for him to go in and snuff them out.
As Lunatic, Yuri is nimble on his feet and a powerful speaker. He almost managed to make all of Sternbild favor his code of Justice rather than what HeroTV stood for, and all because of his words and actions. As a NEXT, Yuri is able to conjure up blue flames that burn much hotter than anything Fire Emblem is able to create. He can also utilize these flames in order to fly, though it's very uneasy and erratic. Yuri also appears to be able to travel through his flames, but it's not entirely certain.
For weaknesses, Yuri may not be that strong physically. He prefers to combat his foes from afar, using his crossbow. When he was shot by the fake Wild Tiger, it put him out of commission and wounded his shoulder enough that he couldn't fight against the other anymore. He is also haunted by the ghost of his father, Mr Legend, constantly questioning whether or not his form of justice was truly right. His judicial duties often keep him holed up for hours on end and don't leave him enough time to do his own things, which is why Lunatic doesn't show up nearly as much as he could. His poor family situation also grates on his mental state.
Yuri has a large burn shaped like a hand-print on his face, from where his father grabbed him as a child. When Yuri had killed his father, he'd first set his hand ablaze, and Mr Legend grabbed the boy by the face before being completely set on fire, burning to death. At that time, Yuri hadn't the strength to control his powers and suffered a horrible burn that has never healed entirely, needing to be covered up with makeup in order to seem presentable.
There's not a lot Yuri can't do in terms of his code of Justice. He has stated before that if an innocent person defends a criminal, then they are also evil, so he apparently has no qualms about murdering the innocent if he sees it just.
Yuri's not very talkative in casual conversation, though he pretends to be friendly and business-like. In reality, he loathes most of his encounters and would much rather be doling out his Justice on the streets of Sternbild.

Starter: Litwick: This Pokemon fits Yuri because of the blue fire that surrounds it. It would be basically a mirror into his soul, showing his true face, the face of the vigilante known as Lunatic. In Route, Yuri will not have access to his powers nor will he have access to his Lunatic suit or weapons, making Litwick his only connection with his true self. Litwick will drain the life energy of those it pretends to lead around, acting as a pseudo-guide. Lunatic sees himself as a guide to the afterlife, guiding criminals by eliminating them with his blue flames. Chandelure, the final form of Litwick, will burn the souls of the deceased after consuming them, while Lunatic will burn away criminals, sending their souls to Thanatos (in his mind).

I do apologize for this inconvenience, but I seem to have lost my way. [ Yuri's voice is somewhat dull, like he's had an exhausting day. ] I'm needed in court, you see.
[ If this was the work of some NEXT, then he was really going to get it. He'd really had enough of mind games, and an illusionist playing games with the city wasn't going to get off easily... That is, if the criminal had killed anyone anyway. ]
I don't mean to be a bother, but I need to get back to the Judicial Bureau immediately and I don't recognize my surroundings. There's also this... strange creature that has taken to following me. [ He doesn't mention the woman that pretended he was her son... His own mother would never be that kind to him. She hated him now, lost in her own delusions of a happier time. ]
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated, I will repay you in any way I can. [ How bothersome. ]

Third Person Sample:
This was thoroughly bothersome... Not only was there to be a court hearing today that he needed to oversee, he had some... work to catch up on back in Sternbild. But it looked like all of that had to wait, for now he was in some strange little town, surrounded by forests and a lake nearby. It was quaint; peaceful. He hated it.
Yuri wasn't one to take a vacation, and he had no intention of relaxing in such a place. He much preferred Sternbild, despite its pollution and sleepless nights. There was nothing for him to do here, in such a place. He wasn't even certain this place HAD a Judicial Bureau, and if it did, it probably wouldn't be in this small town.
To make matters worse, a small candlestick-like creature had begun to follow him around. It was around this time that Yuri began to play with the idea that he was hallucinating, or had been forced into some grant illusion by a NEXT. There was simply no way that any of this was actually happening... He'd seen quite a few strange creatures meandering about alongside people, and it confused him greatly. Of course, what was the most perplexing was the creature of choice, the candle. It had a blew flame atop its wick, and it was smiling at him with its visible yellow eye, and it continuously hopped after him. It wasn't necessarily the creature itself that roused his curiosity, but rather the fact that it was drawn to him... That blue flame did not go unnoticed to the Judge.
He knelt down beside the candlestick, bringing a hand forward, reaching out to it gently, curious about its nature and whether or not he was truly dreaming, "Were you drawn to me, I wonder... Do you feel a kinship with me, creature?" He was the only one who knew of his alter ego, no one else knew that he was in fact Lunatic, and he preferred to keep it that way. But this couldn't just be a coincidence, surely this creature sought him out, could sense the flames burning within, even if he could not access them. It made a strange sound, like an odd chirping, spinning around once before nuzzling his hand, the hot wax warm against his skin. Yuri gave a bit of a smile, one filled with bitter amusement. "I see."

Dragons: Riders of Berk/Defenders of Berk Episode List.

Personality:
Snotlout was raised to be a viking -- big, strong, fierce, stubborn, and not willing to admit defeat. These qualities made him a favorite in dragon-slaying training, even if he didn't have the brains to back up his brawn. Snotlout isn't the type to admit his shortcomings, even if they're very obvious to everyone around him. Clearly he's not as intelligent as fellow viking teens Hiccup, Astrid, and Fishlegs, thinking that answers to many of life's problems are to either whack his head against the problem, yell at the problem's face, or eat the problem. The thing is, this tends to not bother him since it's not really something high on his list of values. Hiccup and Astrid are obviously respected for being able to plan, but most shows of intelligence earn a sneer and a chuckle. On the flipside, if someone manages to be dumber than Snotlout, you better believe he'll take advantage of that fact, as shown by how he treats the twins like clueless hyenas there to alleviate his boredom despite their otherwise viking-like traits.

Because of his beliefs on what makes a true viking, Snotlout tends to fall in with the wrong crowd. Growing up, he admired Dagur the Deranged for his poor treatment of Hiccup and his outlook on slaying dragons. This isn't to say that he's a bad person -- on the contrary, he has a very good heart, at the core of things! But Snotlout was raised to be a winner to the point where failure is not seen as an option in his family. When he slips into his soft side, Snotlout is quick to pass it off as someone else's fault (after a brief hug with Hookfang, he asks if that kind of behavior could be trained out of him, despite having been blubbering over the dragon moments before) or just denies it altogether (when Astrid explains his pain is caused by his heart breaking, Snotlout insists that he doesn't have a heart, he's not a girl).

The majority of the teen's actions are colored by what he thinks others with think of him. Feeling the pressure from his dad, Snotlout becomes a braggart musclehead who benchpresses sheep and punches dragons in the face. He won't even stop to rest, keeping in mind that Spitelout believes "rest is for the weak". When he's trying to impress Astrid, he'll bend over backwards to prove that he's the best choice out of all the vikings, and when he doesn't match up to his boasting, there's always an excuse at the ready. On the few occasions she says she approves of what he's doing, he'll keep on doing whatever it is, whether it's hitting a giant dragon in the eye with a bludgeon or sticking a branch up his nose. With as willing as he is to be absolutely ridiculous to earn points with the ladies, one would think he'd let his sensitive side show a little more -- that, unfortunately, is something he marks as a weakness. Instead, he covers up his emotions with rage, denial, or rude comments. One of the only times he doesn't is at the end of the first film when Hiccup is presumed to be dead -- Snotlout can be seen wiping tears away, and shows genuine relief when it turns out his cousin is still alive despite having a grudgematch with him since they were five.

Really, Snotlout is a lot more emotional than he'd like to let on. When the old way of life is challenged by Hiccup, he's eager to try it out -- absolutely thrilled, really, by the prospect of riding dragons to swoop in and save the day. When he actually comes face to face with one, though, he gets nervous to the point of taking up a weapon, practically whimpering when he's told to drop it and instead place his hand on the Monstrous Nightmare's nose. While all the teens have an anxious excitement about them, Snotlout is shown to be the most animated in all his actions. Even prior to befriending the dragons, he loudly proclaims to avenge Gobber's loss of limbs by fighting dragons with his face. Being stubborn like the rest of the vikings, Snotlout has to be eased into real dragon training, showing trust issue after trust issue when it comes to both his own dragon and his comrades. Despite this, he is shown to have an intense love for Hookfang and gets weirdly self-confident when it comes to proving their warrior strength, or even just given a simple shot to one-up the other teens. Though he attempts to build up a wall around his true self, his bond with Hookfang can't be denied when truly put to the test. When it's thought the Monstrous Nightmare would have to be slayed by Gobber after going on a rampage, Snotlout is reduced to sobbing and earnestly insisting that Hookfang is a good dragon and there must be something wrong with him for him to be acting this way, even if the dragon appears to have few qualms about fighting against his trainer from time to time.

If Snotlout takes a liking to something, he's not likely to change his mind about it -- and might throw a tantrum or threaten anyone who could interfere with his ownership. Heck, he calls dibs on a female stranger when she washes ashore on Berk and frequently reminds his comrades that he did so in case they get any ideas! In a less extreme example, the viking often takes things for himself, saying that if Snotlout wants something, he'll get it. Even when he discovers the stone that's suppose to bring good fortune is actually an egg that will only bring angry dragons, he picks up four to trade around for his own gain, largely because Fishlegs, Hiccup, and Astrid were so insistent that he couldn't. Though unwilling to give up his treasures, if the choice is between him and his shinies, Snotlout will let go of whatever has caught his interest in favor of, you know, being alive. At least the guy has some priorities.

As loud and obnoxious as he is, one would think Snotlout wouldn't work well on a team. In a competition setting, it's unlikely that he won't look out for number one, but in situations where it actually counts, he's a strong member for your side -- and, sometimes, he can use his competitive spirit to his advantage, making something he may not find interesting less boring by trying to beat a new record, or just be the best. When Hiccup and Toothless get separated from each other in dangerous territory, they both have to rely on an irritable, envious Snotlout to fight off enemies or...solve problems in a not-entirely-Jorgenson way. Not really his thing, but for a short while, he even manages to be dependable for that. However, being Snotlout makes him unwilling to even own up to being a good teammate unless he could win a prize for it, so after the pair concede to kicking butt, he brushes off the rest of Hiccup's statements by instead switching the focus to their stomachs.

The time he's the best teammate, though, is when he's alongside his dragon. Even if he doesn't always seem willing to admit it, he loves the stubborn lug and would do almost anything to protect him from harm. Spouting his father's nonsense like it's fact, in 'Race to Fireworm Island' Snotlout actually makes Hookfang dangerously sick from pushing him too hard. While the training was for a good reason -- to protect Berk from Outcast attacks -- the methods were questionable, and the dragon wasn't able to rest. When told by the other teens that Hookfang should get checked out, Snotlout lashes out, insisting that there's nothing wrong despite him also beginning to fret. While the denial in his words is strong, the boy gets more and more visibly upset at the thought of losing -- or replacing, as Spitelout callously suggests -- his dragon companion, even beginning to cry in front of his friends (though that, too, he denies). Once he takes responsibility for Hookfang's illness, Snotlout starts to get that stubborn viking fire back, guilt driving him to make things right again and even causing him to (loudly) admit to the dragon how much he values him. After the incident, he's willing to say that his father doesn't know everything, deviating from that ignorant path he'd been set on, and wants Hookfang to rest until all is back to normal. While that episode focuses specifically on the pair's interactions, small bits of other episodes nod to how close they are. Hookfang likes to toss Snotlout around or set him on fire, sure, and Snotlout oftens yells at or punches the beast, but there are times when the boy is seen consulting his dragon on his opinion for plans or giving him enthusiastic praise. Even his statement of, "You stay tough," is said gently despite it being another one of those mantras drilled into Snotlout's head, and when an attack on Berk is predicted, he openly admits that Hookfang's face is the last one he'd want to see in the event of obliteration (besides his own, naturally.)

This stick is garbage!

[Good morning, Routians! Or not-so-good morning, judging by the angry nose pushed into the camera view of the 'gear. Yep, Snotlout doesn't seem to have figured out this dumb thing, just yet... He's supposed to try to transfer his face through it, right?]

Look, the pointy thing? It's supposed to go on the end of the stick, not on some useless string! And the stick part? It's gotta be thicker! How do any of you survive if this is what you've got to fish with? I've probably broken eight of the stupid things already.

[Letting out a loud huff that manages to fog up the screen even if he's turning away, the viking instead glowers at the other fishermen. Who appear to be doing just fine.]

Gimme a net and my dragon, and I bet I could fish everything up in ten seconds. Probably even five.

Third Person Sample:
It didn't take very long for Snotlout to figure out how to fight with the fish that had been handed to him back in New Bark Town. It's not like he was stupid! That was the twins's job. No, even he was pretty impressed at how quickly he took to this world's battles where food was their weapon of choice -- even if he didn't really expect anything else.

He hums calmly to himself, giving the side of the fish a reassuring pat before he hoists her in the air by her tail and...swings. The Magikarp's hard body coupled with the young viking's strength has a satisfying effect on the poor Sentret that had decided to scout their camp out for food. When it recovers enough to stand it remains frozen where it is, eyes the size of saucers, too shocked to do anything because this trainer just hit it with a Magikarp. Who does that?

Snotlout. Snotlout does.

"I had my doubts about you, Lunch," the boy confides in the Magikarp, though she likely can't hear him over the sound of her face crashing into the Sentret yet again. "But you know what? I can make anything work." A statement that is unfortunately true, it seems, because Lunch is leveling up yet again. As Lunch tries to collect herself enough to reflect on what her life has become, Snotlout tosses her back onto their sleeping bag, instead going to inspect what it was that the rat thing had decided to snatch from them. Turns out it was only robbing them if Snotlout considered the immediate area his property -- and let's be real, he probably did -- for in a now-scattered pile was about half a dozen colorful berries.

Well. He couldn't eat the fish, apparently. Berries, even if they weren't the first choice for a growing viking, would probably do for now...

Character
Name: Kurata Akihiro
Series: Digimon Savers
Timeline: post-series
Canon Resource Links: Here

Personality: Kurata is a monster, plain and simple. Selfish to the core, maniacal, genocidal, and just plain irritating, it would be a lie to say he has any redeeming qualities whatsoever. He takes and never gives anything back, and is wholly focused upon himself. His lack of empathy for his victims puts him fully in the role of a psychopath, and he never shows any remorse for the things he does.

That said, much of what Kurata does is born out of a deep-seated feeling of inferiority and jealousy. It might be better to say that he has an extreme sense of entitlement, and is generally loathe to exist in anyone's shadow. Part of everything he did was due to his intense jealousy of Daimon Suguru, and by this point in his life, it has erupted into complete and absolute hatred.

This sense of inferiority drives Kurata to gain dominence over everything around him. Once he started to gain power over other creatures, he became haughty and desired even more, until it eventually led to his believing that he could take over and rule the world. In Kurata's own mind, no one is as important and deserving as himself, and so he will use people as pawns and even raw materials for his ambitions.

That said, Kurata is a coward. The other half of his motivation is born out of fear of pain, and should he encounter a situation he can't immediately overcome with his tools, he will become a fearful mess and break down. Kurata never personally gets his hands dirty, and only acts when he has something powerful to hide behind. Once these shields disappear, Kurata becomes like a spoiled terrified child, shrieking and demanding mercy from his assailants.

That said, Kurata is brilliant. He has developed technology to reshape both data and people's minds, and has turned both humans and digimon into living weapons. He is particularly sadistic, and in events where he is capable of gaining an advantage, he will quickly become smug and confident. He is shown delighting in suffering dealt towards others, further cementing himself as a psychopath. He's also hyperactive and bombastic at times like this, excitedly exclaiming such words as "IT'S SHOWTIME!" when beginning an operation.

Kurata is also capable of hiding his intentions, though he can't hide the fact that he is thoroughly unpleasant. He may be able to hide the fact that he's an evil, amoral bastard, but the fact that he's an annoying, irritating worm is much harder for him to mask. In situations like this, he behaves very passive aggressive and is oftentimes condescending - even towards people he has offered to help, or people who intend to help him.

Strengths/Weaknesses: As far as humans go, Kurata is actually very weak, and particularly spineless, so he has no stand out physical abilities of his own. However, it's through his technology and his brilliant mind that he is able to overcome more powerful foes. Just how much of that will be possible to exploit in Route is unclear, but he's adept in the use of electronics, reality-warping technology, genetics, physics, and digital science. He has shown himself to be capable of reconstructing, manipulating, and even combining the data of digimon with human beings, so if he were to ever get ahold of the same technology that created, say, Porygon, there may be trouble. As noted above, Kurata is a coward, and will ultimately go the route of manipulation, which despite his incredibly obvious personality flaws, he's actually very good at. Once his facade breaks down, however, he ultimately breaks down and is unable to cope.

First Person Sample: So, hrm. I've been dragged into another world and given a monster as a "partner"? My my my, this whole enterprise seems a bit dangerous, don't you think?

Ah, perhaps I should introduce myself first. My name is Akihiro Kurata. Professor Akihiro Kurata. I'm quite brilliant, you know. I've done a fair bit of work for the government, actually... well, where I come from, I mean. I suspect the lot of you have no idea what the world I come from is like...

But ha ha, that's in the past, isn't it?

I want to learn more about these Pokémon creatures... the one I was given is a bit like creatures from where I come from. Porygon, I believe I call it? An artificial, digital lifeform... they're much like beings we call Digimon. Quite dangerous, those... they manifested in our world and posed a constant danger to humankind. It was absolutely difficult, but we had to enact extreme measures to protect ourselves. I led the way of course...

But enough about me and my contributions to the human race.

I want to learn about Pokémon as much as I can! I imagine that of course involves capturing as many as possible... But if anyone would be willing to lend their, erm, partners to the cause of science, I'd be quite grateful. I am particularly interested in how dangerous they are... no use in anyone getting hurt, correct?

Hm! I suppose that's all!

Third Person Sample: Kurata had to literally cough as he finished typing his network post, having to figuratively choke back his anger and frustration as he wrote it. He wanted to do nothing more than rail against the forces that had led to his defeat and exile to this... this saccharine hellhole, but he knew that he couldn't afford to alienate anyone now that he was here.

In all seriousness, he was rather lucky. When he'd been consumed by that dimensional rift, which had been no fault of his own, he'd thought that was the end of him; his essence strewn about the time space continuum like dust. But somehow, it had thrown him into this world that reminded him so much of that wretched Digital World... Similar except for the fact that, here, the digimon counterparts and humans lived in relative harmony...

It was absolutely disgusting. Living alongside monsters... battling them against one another like some kind of family-friendly cockfighting... he couldn't imagine how long it took before this world's stable veneer went teetering into absolute chaos.

"PORYGON."

Ugh. That bizzare little digimon knockoff was demanding attention again. Kurata suppressed a violent sneeze as he turned to the sentient mishmash of pixels. While a digimon at least resembled a real animal despite being an abomination, this artificial construct looked like a cheap CGI effect from an old science fiction movie... its presence was disorienting to Kurata, as if looking at it made him visibly doubt it was real.

"Eugh. What do you want now?" Kurata asked it.

The creature's polygon-shaped head turned at a thirty degree angle, while its eyes and what could generously be called an expression didn't move at all. "PORYGON," it repeated.

Oh, that was right. These wretched little beasts only said their names, didn't they? Ugh. This reminded Kurata of the hamster he'd owned when he was younger... the thing slept all day, and resisted Kurata's attempts to study it. The stupid little beast had died after two weeks.

He supposed he'd ought to avoid that happening this time. This was the only source of power in this world. He'd have to figure out what living special effects ate, apparently.

The sheer ridiculousness was not lost Kurata at all. In fact, it made him want to wretch. And sneeze, but both of those things were normal.

Name: Jake English
Series: MS Paint Adventures: Homestuck
Timeline: Page 8474.
Canon Resource Links: Wikipedia: Homestuck ; Homestuck Wiki: Jake English

Personality:
A really popular misconception of this character is that he is drop dead suave and a heart throbber; he knows exactly what he is doing to those interested in him and takes pride in it. While it is true, for one reason or another, that there appears to be several characters to show an interest in Jake romantically, he really isn't the smoothest talker. In fact, he's rather clumsy and unaware of things. Jake is rather oblivious to some of the most evident things, having looked over hints Dirk had dropped before concerning him being from the future, or any sort of flirtations by people. In any case, Jake's echeladder has titles such as: One Tomb; Too Many Suitors, Cupid's Crosshair Candy, Sharkbait Heartthrob, Hunk Rumpus Buster and Beau Skylark.
But anyway, it's obvious Jane has sort of a thing for Jake as well, but cowards out on confessing to him and encourages Jake to pursue Dirk instead.
He describes his relationship with Dirk as "bestest bros" and "wouldn't mind exploring the waters" before they start going out. This later becomes more of an experiment which he eventually regrets, and during the whole Trickster fiasco, Dirk dumps Jake because he kept running from his problems in a very cowardly sort of way. Because of this, it's fair to say Jake has a wishy-washy sort of personality, along with getting extremely nervous to face situations emotionally related. He's never certain about one thing or another and just sort of goes with whatever in most cases which opens himself up for being easily manipulated by others and their words.
While romance is an interest of his, his mind is usually elsewhere for the most part. He finds relationships very important, but isn't interested enough in them to actually figure out how to pursue them right. It mainly goes with his co-dependency since he grew up primarily alone.

As mentioned, though, his mind is typically elsewhere. Elsewhere being adventuring or nerding out over comic books or movies. It should also be noted here that he aspires to be an archaeologist and uses most of his time exploring his island, so adventuring is very, very cool to him. He even owns a Tomb Raider belt buckle with matching leg holsters, but alas, his shorts are too long for him to wear them properly. He tries to be cool! Probably tries a little bit too hard because he refuses to wear the holsters until he gets shorter shorts so it looks right without taking in the fact wearing leg holsters like Lara Croft is a little bit dorky anyway.
If there is one way to get Jake's attention, it's mentioning an adventure or exploring of some kind. He claims he doesn't really have time to even use Wikipedia or use proper grammar/syntax cause he's a busy guy and "has an adventure to get on with", quote. I should also say he has some weird obsession with skulls. He gets attached to strange, materialized things much too easily and can simply obsess over them more than the norm. Skulls, the color blue, movies, comic books, guns, blue ladies and etc are just some of the following things he regularly has his mind on.

Jake is a really big nerd. Rather adorable! But very nerdy. He doesn't really seem to openly brag about his impressive collection of comics or movies, but it's obvious he has a stash since he brings up movies and comics a lot, often referencing them.
It's mentioned he especially likes comic books with spider girls in it or movies with cerulean ladies. What he's fascinated with is rather peculiar due to his eccentric personalty and possibly because he didn't have much social interaction growing up besides those he chats with. He's rather energetic and boisterous and possibly a bit of a "ham" who always seems to be on the go. There really isn't much of an explanation why he's so active, but it's certain that it's sort of difficult to calm him down once he gets riled up. One theory for his energy could be the fact he's used to keeping himself entertained since he has nobody else to communicate with in person. This also could explain why he talks with a very odd mix of words and syntax, some of them made up on his own.

Accompanied with being loud and boisterous, he gets flustered very easily, which can essentially lead to something I'll call here a flip out. It's happened several times in the series that he'll type in all caps and draw words out during these flip outs, or start to get embarrassed and sweaty when discussing a topic that is inappropriate or makes him feel nervous. He can get nervous easily as first seen with several conversations between his friends in the first few pesterlogs with them, and even more so with his interaction with Aranea. He doesn't have much of a filter and has a tendency to yell without really thinking about what he's saying, especially during one of these skittish flip outs.

Jake does try his best to be polite and kind to strangers, especially women, but is very much a ruffian otherwise. You know, being an adventurous hooligan and all of that! In fact, he has enough guts to deck a lady if need be, as demonstrated when he attack Meenah in some of the most recent parts of the story, thinking she was the Condesce. Piggybacking on that statement, Jake really does enjoy brawling, probably more than he ought to. There's nothing like a good session of "fisticuffs", and he can sometimes invite himself into a fight without really meaning to from the start. Something about it is enthralling to him, and he would be the one to start a strife or challenge another first. He'll take up the sword, so to say, and plan to be the Blockbuster action hit movie hero, though he just kind of comes across as a major tool. Either way, Jake doesn't really seem ashamed of who he is and can be called a very free spirited individual.

He's very alert and overly prepared for anything. Like any normal person, he has five computers and fetch module in a puzzle form which means he can inventory as much as can properly fit. Given these thoughts, Jake is a packrat and possibly feels exposed or vulnerable when he doesn't have absolutely everything he needs for something. He even has pieces of his former house in his inventory for nostalgic sake. However, one thing he certainly won't leave his room without would be his two M9 Berettas which were a gift from his grandmother as inheritance. This sort of wanting to be prepared complex that he has must come from always being on high attentive considering his island is very dangerous, and he has a sparring robot partner that is also on the hunt for him when he leaves his room.
Jake is open about his interests to everybody without too much of shame. Whether it be about what he's passionate about, like girls associated with the color blue, or guns, or movies; he really doesn't stop and consider how awkward the conversation is getting, and neither does he really care that much. He can be very apologetic for anything that may seem out of line, especially when addressing a new person. Really, new introductions can be very sophisticated and painfully gentleman-like depending on his mood at the time. He will often apologize in advance, somewhere in the back of his wild mind that he's about to say or do something stupid.

Even with him being oblivious and hard to catch onto things, Jake does have a certain amount of untapped potential being a Page of Hope and all of that. He's had his share of brilliance and shown intelligence in ways he didn't think he subconsciously knew.
All things given, Jake is rather kind if you don't come across as dangerous. He can be insecure when meeting new people, but he's sweet to his friends when he isn't coming off as arrogant (which he hardly notices he actually does). He seems to also get picked on and has a pretty good attitude about it without being too defensive.

The odd thing about Jake is the fact he seems to be co-dependent and needy of others and seems to always want to have attention put on him (typically by him flipping the conversation to himself), but in most recent updates he seems to be sick and tired of the attention and desires to be left alone. This is seen when Aranea offers to heal his mind by seducing him and he instantly tries to push her away, exclaiming he's tired of being "some sort of piece of meat."
It's almost as if, now that he has grown up a little more, he prefers solitude as opposed to too much company. Perhaps he needs an equal balance, or perhaps he just is tired of people crushing on him. Either way, he cares an immense amount about his Alpha friends and would do anything for them.

In the gist of things, here arr a list of his good personality traits and his negative ones:

✓ Polite.
✓ Caring.
✓ Friendly.
✓ Energetic.
✓ Protective.

✗ Oblivious/naive.
✗ Easily hurt.
✗ Cowardly.
✗ Nervous.
✗ Low self esteem.
✗ Easily hurt.
✗ Emotional.
✗ Forgetful and clumsy.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
  • Adequate at wrestling: It's his job, and battling a robot for 2+ years has definitely helped him improve, though he does seem to get his ass kicked by machinery from time to time; a fight with another human might end up with a different ending.
  • Knowledgeable of media content: From all of those daggum movies and comic books. He may fourth wall a character now and then, but outside of his media content he owns, he's rather clueless to a lot of things.
  • Good stamina: From all of that running, chasing, shooting bullcrap on his island.
  • Bruiser Brainer: Occasionally can tap into his subconscious and have a brilliant idea or suggestion.
  • Great with guns: His signature is double pistols and it's his favorite to fight with other than his bare hands.
  • Attractive women: They usually can send him stuttering and make him feel nervous.
  • Peanuts: His allergy to them is very sensitive. After all, it is what was used to kill his dream form.
  • Inappropriate content: Boners. But not really. Any sort of off topic conversation thrown at him that's inappropriate to him can possibly throw him off guard and make him vulnerable. Stuttering, stammering— you'll see stuff like this happening if the conversation gets too skeevy for his comfort.

Personality:

Jane is a surprisingly level minded girl for her age, is a thought that comes to mind when you are thinking of Jane Crocker. The heiress to the big “CrockerCorp”, she has believed all her life that she will take over the company and boy will she have plans for it. Due to this, and her very strict business like attitude her friends call her “uptight” or “tightass”, both of which outright denies whenever she can. But amongst all of this, Jane is just a fifteen year old girl with a passion for things such as comedy, frightening fauna, and being a self-proclaimed “prankstress” of her household”.

Jane is an old-fashioned girl, perhaps from the way she fixes her short spunky hair, or even from the way she speaks. True, she doesn't speak as if she were an old maid; however, she does pepper her every day speech with words like "dagnabbit", "golly", or even "plumb stupid". She is an advocate and full believer of perfect grammar which may also give off the vibe of her being uptight to her friends. She finds that she is even going the extra mile to correct her friends grammar when they pesterchum one another, especially Roxy.

Like any human-being Jane has her negative traits. For example, her most prominent flaw is that she is highly skeptical and unbelieving. Her fool proof way of believing someone is if she has tangible evidence in front of her eyes, "Believing somebody is not the same as believing IN somebody" as said in her own words. She does believe in all of her friends! She does. But that doesn't mean she believes all of the things that are leaving their fingers onto their keyboards. They could be lying to her for all she knows! Which is a lot of the reason her and Roxy could never see eye to eye on things in the far earliest parts of Act 6, and her absolute refusal to hear any of the urban legends that surrounded the Betty Crocker corporation. Her stubbornness is another trait about her that got her into more trouble than she bargained for. As mentioned before, Jane is the number one fan and heiress of Betty Crocker which often results in many attempts on her life and often leads into her being locked in her house with absolute ZERO permission to leave. But just to get to the mailbox for a video game she brushes any thought of a threat aside and goes past his many obstacles to get outside and get to the mailbox- which exploded.

Jane is also extremely sheltered. Her father kept her under lock and key for a very long time. While her father ultimately thought he was doing a swell thing for his daughter by keeping her safe from the many assassins that tried to get at her from the outside world. This lead to Jane being very immature, and not having a fully developed way of handling the outside world. Her immaturity often leads to her being reckless, for example when Jane puts on a horrid disguise to escape her house for a video game- this nearly gets her killed by an exploding mailbox. Another example of just her recklessness would be when she does not heed the warning of Dirk's Auto-Responder and goes to Derse looking for her father and the end result is her being stabbed and thus making unfavorable outcome to the plans AR and Dirk had for the session. (Though this is merely an assumption, since we don't really know what the Auto-Responder had to do with those particular situations, and in canon he is still an unknown factor).

Similar to the Beta session's John, she was donned the leader of her group. She protested it heavily at first, though Dirk states that Jane has all the "plucky spunk" that the team needs for a leader. That is completely true, Jane isn't all negativity and tensity. She has the outgoing characteristics for a leader. She is spunky, and outgoing when she has the drive and determination for something. That something being looking for her Father.

She regards everyone around her fondly, and she tends to care deeply for those that she loves. Even warning Dirk after she sees him in the clouds of prospit of the doom to come. While she is a very reliable gal she has a hard time handling her own emotions, usually setting them aside for the sake of others. The most outstanding example of this is when Jake confronts her about her feelings for him, and she outright lies to him about them. Not having the courage she would have desired to be able to admit that she indeed really fancied Jake. Dirk then came into the outline of that conversation and she took the emotional fall and told Jake to pursue him if that is what felt right. This is proof that Jane doesn't really know how to handle her emotions in an efficient way.

As a character, Jane has grown and faltered, showing us that she has more personality traits than one could have ever expected.

As an added thing, Jane ignited something well known as the "Trickster Arc". In this arc her personality may not have shifted completely, but her mindset surely did. She said things she would not have been apt to say previously. It was more something you could compare to a "sugar high", and was short lived. This results in the group coming to their quest beds and where they all sort of finally talk out their problems.

Not that it needs a double mention, but this was the result of Jane not really knowing how to deal with her emotions, or stress. She deals with them very poorly.

Jane's last form in the comic itself is "Crockertier", in which she becomes very rude and outspoken because she is being controlled. Needless to say, this is very important to her character development but will not be relevant in game itself.
