Applications will be normally checked during the weekend following the first and third Sunday of each month unless otherwise stated, and we will allow one application per person during one application cycle. Remember, the most characters one player can have at a time is currently set at five.
Applications received after 11:59 PM EST on Saturday of the first and third weekend of each month will be checked the following app weekend unless otherwise stated.
The comment character limit on dreamwidth is 16,000 characters so apps no longer need to be split into multiple comments; however this is at players' discretion.
Please use the form below and post your application in comments rather than linking if you can. If you have any questions, feel free to ask either of the mods. You can reach us through emails, IMs, or PMs.
A reminder for those waiting to hear back, please don't be worried if we skip yours while going through them. It only means we needed a little more time to research!

Re: Sho Minimimoto| The World Ends With You | No reserve (REAPP)
As far as the development of OCD, while it can show up at any time the two times considered “most likely” according to the International OCD Foundation are between the ages of 8 & 12, and “between the late teens and early adulthood”. At eighteen he already sits right in the middle of the second “usual” developmental time and I postulate that prior to his death he may have had a numbers fixation to help calm himself down, which might have developed into his frankly overly tic-filled speech. While I do believe that he genuinely loves his mathematics, some of the quotes aren't even tangentially related to the rest of the conversation. Why, after all would he start off with “Some Old Horses Can Always Hear Their Owner Approach.” before asking “How much weight will I let you Players carry in the UG?” Some of them (such as the answer to that question) do make perfect sense, but I see the random exclamations as one more possible form of OCD behaviour, although they could also be seen as symptoms of disordered thought from a psychotic break.
The last thing to note is that Sho is a genius. Flat out – he is a genius. This is stated canonically. A genius is someone who is not only extraordinarily intelligent, but also extremely creative. It's difficult to pin down what it means exactly, however a working definition is someone who approaches the world in a unique manner due to that combination of intelligence and creativity. The mental flexibility required to be a genius is what keeps Sho's disorders from rendering him nothing more than a thug with delusions.
While he may not be able to change the thought patterns themselves, he is perfectly aware of them and able to fight against some of the worst sides of himself when he feels that it is necessary. In Shibuya it wasn't necessary for him to do so because he was already at a level that fed most of his delusions and egotistical problems.
Remember that the wiki says; “It is revealed that he excels in all areas of leadership except one”. While many people like to concentrate on the area that he does not excel in, I prefer to recall the fact that he excels at all of the rest. This includes the ability to look at a situation and adapt to it, despite his problems. Referring to lists of “What Makes A Good Leader”, there are some things that come up over and over:
1) Honest/trustworthy
2) Enthusiastic about their work/cause, passionate
3) Confidence
4) Tolerance of ambiguity
5) Analytical thought
6) Commitment to excellence
7) Vision
While obviously “What constitutes a good leader” is something that any given person will have to define for themselves, I would like to point out that my informal googling and taking the top five lists to look over only had “cooperation” listed once, “delegation” listed once, and “loyalty” listed once.
So what does this all mean? Basically that Sho is going to be clinging to the first person he met while he gets his feet on the ground again. His megalomania requires him to have an audience at-hand, the PokeGear is simply not enough for him. As well, in a situation where he is divorced from all of his coping mechanisms he will need something stable to hold onto. Messing with the head of a travelling partner is certainly one way to do that. Over time, with therapy (and perhaps medications, depending), Sho will be able to develop into a more standard “functional” person, with symptoms held at bay.
Strengths/Weaknesses:
Fears:
•Losing more of his mind. He's missing a lot already and it drives him crazy to know that he used to be more than he is now.
•Being Erased (perma-death). Dying itself doesn't bother him, he's done it too often. Becoming nothing, though? That bothers him.
•Losing control of the situation.
•He will never admit it, but he's afraid of Joshua.
•Any one or thing that proves able to suppress his abilities.
Weaknesses:
•He's easily distractable with mathematics or puzzles.
•He has zero defences against "area attacks", even ones that can be somehow shielded against.
•Being physically struck with intent to harm will lead to automatic teleporter-pinball.
•He often out-thinks himself and fucks himself over by trying to be too fancy.
•The OCD is an easily exploitable weakness.
•So's the megalomania.
Mundane Strengths/Abilities:
•He really is a genius, especially with mathematics.
•He knows how to fire a gun. (Not that it's. Pertinent here.)
•His grip on practical physics is up there in the genius level too (such as use of slingshots, trebuchets, etc.)
•He's pretty damn good at cobbling things together out of found items.
•He's really really resilient.
•"Master Strategist" defines him really well, but "out thinks himself" happens just as often.

Samples
First Person Sample:
[The video starts, swinging wildly back and forth. A black thumb is over part of it, as are purple paws.]
Give that back you un-integrated numeral!
Purrrloin!
[Glimpses of both the teen's face and the Pokémon's are seen as they fight over the PokéConnect, neither one willing to let go.]
No, I don't know what it is! Mine! Stoppit! Factoring hectopascal!
Purrrloin!
[The teen appears to have the upper-hand, and glimpses of Purrloin's face are seen as he shakes the PokéConnect violently before grabbing for Purrloin's body with his other hand and pulling. The machine goes flying through the air, turning over and over and showing glimpses of sky, grass, and trees before landing. Distantly.]
Great. It landed in the long grass. Are you proud of yourself, you little numeral?
Purrrloin.
Of course you are.
Third Person Sample:
The truth of the matter is that Minamimoto Sho wass not suited for being out in the wild, nor for working with small animals. Or, to be honest, working with large animals. Or working with anything. He was from a big city and, as far as he could remember, he'd never been out of a big city. The grass was weird, there were noises that weren't traffic or people. He was fairly okay as long as it was day, but come the night? The only reason that the once-Reaper wasn't jumping like a rabbit was the fact that doing so would require him to show vulnerability in front of his travelling partner and his Pokémon.
Purrrloin was a mixed blessing in Sho's mind. On the one hand the creature was wilful, disobedient, loud, and mischievous. On the other hand it was a warm lump at night and when the strangeness of everything got to be too much it tended to cuddle up with him. Of course half the time it did so in order to get it's paws into his pockets...but he really couldn't object too much.
The entire concept of going out to catch more things didn't make sense to him, but that was apparently What Was Done, and his ego wouldn't let him do anything else. He'd figure this out, he'd get good at it, and he'd demonstrate his ability to survive anything.
As the fire burned lower, with Purrrloin curled up in his lap, Sho considered the future. The past was past - he couldn't do anything about it now. If he got back to Shibuya he'd get back to trying to kill Joshua. For now, though? For now he had plans to make and things to learn. It could be worse. His usual smile was nowhere to be seen, the young Reaper was thinking, and planning.
One hand stroked his sleeping Purrrloin, the other one absently tapped out a Fibonacci sequence while he worked on the current plan.
