We would also like a clarification on Pegasus's canonpoint of choice, as we feel the canonpoint listed is overly broad and does not clearly identify the point of canon from which he is being pulled. You will have one week to complete these requests before the character is available again.

Personality:
Pegasus was born into a wealthy, privileged family; he attended high-class parties and functions from a young age, and it's highly unlikely he ever found himself in want or heard the word 'no' more than occasionally. He's a man who's used to getting what he wants, and concerns like empathy, legality, and common sense aren't always enough to stop him. He fell in love with a girl named Cecilia at a very young age, marrying at 17 or 18; his love and infatuation driving him into a deep depressive state after his wife died of a sudden illness. His depression drove him to travel to Egypt, where a chance encounter offered him the possibility of seeing Cecelia again. This tenuous offer was enough for Pegasus to gouge out his own eye; the brief glimpse into the afterlife it offered only pushing him to further desperation. Death had been the one thing to deny Pegasus something he cared about. His newfound magical ability only compounded the privilege of his upbringing, making it easier and easier to rationalize terrible things. His inability to let go of Cecelia pushed him to blackmail and kidnapping as part of his plan to resurrect her; using his powers to steal numerous souls of people close to those he needed to manipulate. He did this without apparent remorse, secure in the knowledge that he could do whatever he wanted and that it would be fine as long as he got what he wanted. For example, he took great glee in forcing his targets Yugi and Kaiba into a winner-take-all duel for the fates of their kidnapped loved ones. It wasn't until he was beaten and forcibly confronted with consequences to his actions -the painful removal of his Millennium Eye and the powers it granted- that he showed any kind of regret.
Despite (or because of) the gusto with which he had thrown himself into villainy, Pegasus has almost dedicated his life since to making up for his misdeeds. Every appearance since his initial defeat has involved him making an effort to help the heroes get in front of the Apocalypse du jour. He managed to warn Yugi about the impending threat of Dartz and the Great Leviathan despite their personal enmity, and ten years later he provided Duel Academy with critical information about the Society of Light, as well as the resources needed to rescue the Academy from a parallel dimension the year after. Even before his defeat at Yugi's hands, Pegasus drew a line at actions that would cause widespread damage or harm those not directly in his way; when he received premonitions that a set of cards he had created would lead to worldwide ruin, he took steps to hide them as safely as he could with the aid of Ishizu Ishtar and her own magical foresight. Pegasus also apparently successfully mended fences with the Kaiba brothers, at least enough to maintain a working business relationship: Pegasus is still a successful CEO, after all. Aside from his work with Kaiba's Duel Academy, they cooperated on a project to print and launch a new set of cards into space, and Pegasus' company has printed at least one card rumored to have been created by Kaiba himself.
A great part of Pegasus' success in business is his showmanship. Almost every public appearance, and quite a few private ones, are a chance to put on a show or at least show off. This can be a way of masking his true intentions; the lavish spectacle of the Duelist Kingdom tournament, for example, was all a smokescreen for his plan to take over KaibaCorp and claim Yugi's Millennium Puzzle. His penchant for drama can also be a not-entirely-subtle way of asserting dominance over the situation or other people. He doesn't HAVE to take you seriously, because he's Maximillion Pegasus; he's richer than you, a better duelist and more powerful than you, and things are going to work out exactly how he wants them to anyway, so why not have a little fun? Notably, his duel with Seto Kaiba was almost entirely Pegasus showing off his mind-reading abilities and jerking Kaiba around for daring to not believe in them. Over-dramatically feigned incompetence used to set up "surprise" comebacks and hammy jokes only stopped -briefly- when it came time to deliver the finishing blow and rub Kaiba's nose in his failure. A duel with "Bandit" Keith Howard, before the events of canon, saw Pegasus take it even further; rather than duel Keith himself, Pegasus read his mind and wrote out a one-turn-kill counter for his planned tactics and allowed a complete novice to defeat Keith. There was no real reason for this. Keith rubbed Pegasus the wrong way, so Pegasus took the chance to show off at the expense of Keith's utter humiliation.
This flair for the dramatic can also serve the more innocent purposes of garnering attention or just indulging Pegasus' (admittedly slightly twisted) sense of humor. After the duel with Bandit Keith mentioned above, for example, Pegasus used the opportunity to teach a group of children from the audience -on camera, of course- how to play Duel Monsters. He even went as far as gifting one of them with Pegasus' own personal deck from the tournament after hearing that he couldn't afford one of his own. Pegasus enjoys jokes, at least when things are going his way, and goes as all-out with them as with anything else. The underground path to a secret "graveyard" arena in Duelist Kingdom, for example, was not only dressed with realistic coffins and skeletons, but a trap which released an inflatable boulder equipped with an internal speaker to give every impression that it was about to crush anyone unfortunate enough to trigger it. Again, this served no real purpose besides spooking tournament contestants. Similarly, the order of the tournament finals were determined by randomly-assigned letters distributed in replicas of Pegasus' Millennium Eye, planted inside the finalists' soup the night before the finals. For good or ill, dramatics and bad jokes are Pegasus' primary means of connecting with others; he's capable of being serious when things are dire -he's quite earnest when warning Yugi about Dartz, for example, and begins losing his temper when Yugi figures out a way around his telepathy- but his default response is almost always some manner of quip. Despite this, he is a competent manipulator even without the aid of psychic abilities, picking out obvious weaknesses and buttons and using them to his advantage. During their duel, he used Seto Kaiba's loyalty to his prized Blue-Eyes White Dragons to provoke an attack at an inopportune moment and spring the trap that ended the game, for example.
Unsurprisingly, Pegasus often comes across as quite immature. His upbringing meant he rarely had to struggle, and his wealth gave him the casual power to not take things seriously, as discussed above. The result is someone who frequently indulges childish whims, making it difficult to connect with others (at least other adults). He has no actual friends that we see in canon, only business associates and employees. His only real joys in life seem to come from dueling, his art, and cartoons, which he'll discuss at length with little provocation. One of the few times we see him truly enjoying himself is a quiet dinner of cheese and
winefruit juice, spent reading a collection of 'Funny Rabbit' comics. Pegasus even has a set of one-of-a-kind 'Toon' monsters and spells in his personal dueling deck, based on his love of animation and cartoon physics. During his duel with Kaiba, he gushes about the joy cartoons brought him as a child, going so far as to describe them as "perfect lifeforms." He paints frequently; his castle at Duelist Kingdom contains several paintings of his late wife, and he's personally created the art for many Duel Monsters cards. Notably the Egyptian God Cards, 'The Ties of Friendship', given as a prize to Yugi after Duelist Kingdom, and the Crystal Beast and Rainbow Dragon cards. Oddly, he seems to need real-world sources of inspiration even when painting wholly fantastic subjects. The creation of the Rainbow Dragon, for instance, was noted as being IMPOSSIBLE without first locating the mythical stone tablet depicting it, despite every other aspect of the card (stats, effect, etc.) being at Pegasus' sole discretion.no subject
