Character
Name: Korra
Series: The Legend of Korra
Timeline: End of episode 10 season 1, "Turning the tides"
Canon Resource Links:
- Korra
- about the show
- the avatar
- the world
- bending

Personality:
"She's strong."
"She lacks restraint."

To put it bluntly, Korra is a young woman with mantra of, "live fast and kick the ass of anything that stands in your way". She's confident in herself and filled with a fiery disposition, one that manifested itself when she was able to bend three of the four elements when she was just a child. Not only did this reveal the new Avatar and Aang's successor, but it also instilled in Korra her philosophy of living a fast paced life and a strong sense of self-assurance. This was also partially fueled by her upbringing: once Korra was discovered, she was relocated to a White Lotus training facility in the South Pole, where she spent roughly the next twelve years of her life training in the art of bending. Because she already had a natural talent for bending three of the elements (and the fourth element, air, would be the last thing she trained in), the isolation in a way helped to fuel the fire inside of Korra.

This, however, proved to be detrimental in a way, as it left Korra somewhat naive and with simplistic views. After all, she had spent very little of her life outside of the compound and most of her time spent there revolved around bending. When Korra decided to go to Republic City on her own it showed that she was eager to step into her role as the Avatar, and yet it also demonstrated that she has a habit of throwing herself into situations without thinking ahead, and that's only the beginning. She didn't think to bring money of all things with her to the city, she thought it was okay to fish in a public park and she dealt some vigilante justice to some criminals... but also wrecked an incredibly cramped street in the process. She has trouble seeing things beyond black-and-white, and takes plenty at face value. When she finds out Mako and Bolin used to work for the Triads, a group of gangs composed of benders, her reaction is to call Mako a, "common criminal", despite the fact that the brothers were poor and homeless and lacked options. It's a clear example of just how simplistic Korra's views are.

Korra, basically, acts on what her heart tells her and not her mind. She lacks experience in handling situations that can't be solved by pulverizing someone into the ground, and when she encounters a problem like that she tries things her way anyway. Diplomacy is something she severely lacks. If someone butts heads with her, she just butts right back. Much of the Equalist issue, for instance, initially went over Korra's head. Upon meeting a spokesman for the group who claimed that bending is used for oppression of nonbenders, Korra's simple rebuff was that bending was the, "coolest thing ever" and that she wouldn't mind using some to shut the man up. On one hand, Korra's entire life had revolved around bending up until that point, and she couldn't understand why someone would hate it. On the other hand, she only helped to prove the Equalist's point. When Amon threatened the probending arena with an attack should it stay open for the finals, Korra believed that giving in to his demands would be a sign of weakness. She failed to see just how severe the threat was and as a result Amon officially declared his "revolution" and revealed just how big of a threat the Equalists were. When her friends were arrested by Tarrlok's task force, Korra nearly hurled two gigantic boulders at the council member, which would definitely caused more bad than good. Although she was temporarily deterred from a confrontation with the corrupt council member, she later broke into his office which lead to a fight between the two, and eventually to Korra being kidnapped by Tarrlok.

Korra's lack of spirituality has also had an impact on her narrow-mindedness. Her essentially being a prodigy combined with being the Avatar has lead Korra to be ingrained with the belief that if something isn't going to plan it isn't necessarily her fault. After all, three of the elements came so naturally to her and she's a master at the physical side of bending. She thinks that if she just tries a few times, her spirituality will eventually improve. She struggles not only with seeing things beneath the surface, but also with taking a different path than what she's used to. Airbending involves mostly defense and evading, something Korra isn't used to in terms of fighting or in a philosophical sense. Initially when Korra struggled with airbending, instead of continuing to try her patience ran thin and she exploded at Tenzin, calling him (the airbending master) a terrible teacher. She couldn't accept that there was just something she wasn't good at and had to blame someone else for her shortcomings. She was, however, somewhat humbled when the airbending movements helped her to win a pro-bending match. It was a small step towards Korra maturing and steadily realizing that there's more to things than what you initially see.

In general, Korra has trouble admitting her faults. When confronted with them she either blames them on something else (as stated above), or in some cases she lashes out and does something reckless. After she was poked and prodded by the press for not taking care of Amon, Korra finally snapped when someone suggested if she was afraid of the man. Her pride and unwillingness to admit weakness in front of others resulted in Korra being manipulated by Tarrlok into joining the task force and enacting what was basically police brutality. Weakness and fear were not things Korra had had to deal with up until arriving in Republic City, and because of this she refused to acknowledge it and instead challenged Amon to a duel. Basically, if she can distract others from her fear, maybe she can distract herself from it. When Korra finally did admit that she was afraid, it was accompanied by a total emotional meltdown. She had finally encountered a problem that couldn't be solved through bending or fighting, and it changed Korra's outlook. While it's a step in the right direction, Korra still might struggle with it, but she's coming to realize that the strongest thing a person can do is admit their weaknesses.

Overall, Korra is a friendly and warm young woman. She tried her best to extend the olive branch to Lin Beifong on a few occasions, although it took Tenzin speaking to the chief of police before the two were able to fully cooperate. Korra hit it off pretty quickly with Bolin, and although Mako was initially distant the young Avatar proved herself eager to earn the firebender's friendship (and perhaps even more). Her crush on Mako developed pretty quickly, and while Korra isn't so socially awkward when it comes to making friends, relationships are another matter entirely. Her reaction to Mako and Asami's relationship was that of jealousy slipped in with some passive aggressive remarks ("Besides, he's all into that prissy, beautiful, elegant, rich girl. "). Her attitude towards Asami was cold and sarcastic, and Korra judged her merely based on appearance and social status. Korra initially saw Asami as someone who was delicate and girly, more than likely fueled by her jealousy of the heiress' relationship with Mako.

As mentioned previously, Korra is not used to things not going her way, and when the guy she has feelings for is in a relationship with someone else, things have the potential to get ugly. Korra's lack of experience with relationships lead to her thinking that winning Mako over would be rather easy, which was only fueled by Pema telling the story of how she and Tenzin got together. Korra didn't exactly realize there was more to the story than how Pema simply put it, and later on she actually tried to ask Mako out. When he began to reject her Korra literally made a fool of herself by proclaiming how she thought that she and Mako were meant to be together. In all honesty, Korra probably thought that plan would work, which goes to show just how much the girl struggles with the subtlety that romance requires. When Mako later confronted her about her date with Bolin, Korra concluded that Mako was jealous. While she was right, it was still an incredibly bold claim to make, perhaps as a reflection to just how confident Korra is. Later on when Mako admitted he did like her but was still confused, Korra didn't even let him finish his sentence before she flung herself onto him and initiated a kiss. Again, Korra didn't think things through and the result was a sudden tension in the pro-bending team that nearly cost them the match.

While that little act of selfishness nearly ruined her friendship with the brothers, Korra ultimately proved that she greatly valued her friendship when she apologized to Mako and Bolin for breaking his heart. Although she didn't feel the same way for Bolin that he felt for her, she still called him one of a kind, as she sincerely meant it and wanted her friend to be happy. And while she initially judged Asami based on her appearance, after she got to know the girl she ended up opening up to her, even apologizing about her initial attitude. When it comes down to it, Korra is capable of admitting her mistakes, particularly when a person she cares about is involved. In perhaps one of her biggest displays of maturity Korra invited Asami along with the brothers to stay at air temple island. Even though she still had feelings for Mako, Asami had just found out her father was an Equalist and Korra realized that the one thing she needed was emotional support.

As the Avatar, Korra has some heavy duties lying ahead of her, but she doesn't shy away from it. She takes her job as the Avatar seriously and with a great deal of eagerness. She didn't hesitate to help a shopkeeper who was being terrorized by the Triads, and when Tarrlok began rounding up innocent non-benders to be arrested, Korra stood up for them. Despite the fact that she struggles without having to rely on force, Korra has steadily grown and matured since she first arrived in Republic City. While she still has a long way to go, Korra has been showing an eagerness to learn and develop now, and just not in the ways she wants to. Even if her journey takes her down a dangerous and frightening path, the young Avatar will let little deter her from fulfilling her role and continuing Aang's legacy.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
+ She's strong and sure of herself.
+ She isn't afraid to grab life by the horns and go after what she wants.
+ When she realizes she's made a mistake she isn't afraid to own up to it and apologize (it just might... take her awhile).
+ She's sincerely dedicated to her job as the Avatar, she wants to do a good job and help those around her.

- She's used to things happening quickly and easily for her (see: being able to bend three of the elements as a child). When she encounters a rough patch she has trouble accepting that she needs to work at it and may blame others for her own problems.
- While not spoiled, she IS used to getting what she wants (though concerning her personal desires they have almost always revolved around bending, which came naturally to her) and can become irritable when she doesn't.
- She's very set in her ways of handling things, which is usually the direct (and often violent way). She has a difficult time considering different approaches to situations, usually because they're slow and don't wield fast results.
- While not necessarily a weakness, Korra's self-identity is deeply intertwined with being the Avatar -- losing her bending is one of her worst fears. This isn't because she finds something wrong with being a non-bender, but because all she knew growing up was bending and being the Avatar.

Current Characters in Route: Danny Fenton [[personal profile] nasa_dreams], Ib [[personal profile] red_roses]

Character
Name: Bill Hazeldine
Series: Suburban Shootout
Timeline: Having returned from mission trip in Africa, but has not yet left for college, and has nothing serious with Jewel yet.
Canon Resource Links: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suburban_Shootout, Bill is the son of the series’ main character, who returns from a six month mission trip to Africa to go to college to study Theology. Both he and his father are completely in the dark about his mother’s extra curricular activities, and Little Stempington’s surprisingly low crime rate. He becomes quick friends, and develops a romantic relationship with Jewel Diamond, the daughter of the series’ antagonist. Which of course leads to all the awkward for his mother.

Personality: When you think of a “good guy”, the image one could draw would most likely be Bill Hazeldine. He’s nice to everyone to a fault, incredibly optimistic, and very adorably cute to boot. He’s nice to everyone he meets, and it’s incredibly rare for him not to smile. He enjoys helping people in need, and is quite physically fit.

Bill is a rather naive person, a lot of things go straight over his head. He buys into believable lies, and can’t react to innuendos at all aside from laughing awkwardly at them. He’s a romantic, and unlike others his age, is perfectly fine waiting for intimacy for when it’s right. But, just because he’s naive in some ways doesn’t make him stupid. He’s well read, and likes to stay in the know on current events. As such, he doesn’t really care for first world problems like what clothes are in or what the latest must have gadget is. What he does appreciate is nature. Bill loves nothing more than to relax among the trees in the park, and his disposition makes animals less leery of him.

Bill has a very black and white sense of justice, and while the idea of a gray area exists, he refuses to acknowledge it. To him things can either be right or wrong, and he will always try to do what he thinks is the right thing. He believes there is good in everyone, even those who don’t outwardly show any signs of it. He really just wants everyone to get along, and he doesn’t like how his mother has distaste for Jewel and her mother.

Strengths/Weaknesses: Bill is quite physically fit, and all his time in Africa has only made him stronger. While by no means the level of some of Jhoto’s more “heroic” residents, he can run, lift, and climb fairly well. He likes to help out people in need, and volunteer his time to good causes, making him quite likable for someone his age. He is also very optimistic and an all around happy person, which only helps in making him more likable.

On the flip side, because he is still quite naive about the way the world works, Bill is still very much in the dark about many things, as well as be incredibly awkward with sexual advances, or even flirting. Bill also refuses to believe in a “gray” area. Something is either right or wrong, and while he believes there is good in everyone, he doesn’t have the capacity to accept the ends justifying the means. For example, breaking a law to stop another crime. He thinks everyone should try their best to get along, and that while people will dislike others, there is no need for hate or even physical violence on another, and will throw himself into the middle of conflict to stop it.

First Person Sample: Hello? Is this thing working? I’m...I’m sorry, I’m not used to these new cell phones...

Um, anyway, if anyone could tell me where I am, I’d really appreciate it. [He laughs.] I tell you, it was something else to wake up in a brand new town in a strange woman’s house! Is she...all right in the head? She kept saying she was my mother....but she’s not, obviously.

[There is a loud “CHOOOO!” in the background.] Oh! That’s right. This little...bear, started following me around. I don’t think he looks too healthy, to be honest, but, the mother bear should be around, right? I don’t want to get too close, I’ve seen what an angry bear can do to a man...

R-right, so anyway some information, if it’s not too much trouble? I’d also like to know how I can contact my parents. I don’t want them to worry.

Third Person Sample: Bill sat on the stump watching the blue headed bear cub. It seemed to be trying to tell him something, or at very least get his attention as it flailed about and tugged at his clothes.

“Look, I don’t want to play with you...” he said, sighing a bit. “I don’t want to get in trouble with your mother, understand?” He shook the cub off of his sleeve, and went back to fiddling with his Pokegear. Cubchoo, however had all ready had enough. This guy was really supposed to be his trainer? He didn’t mean it, he was just too frustrated, and let loose with a Powder Snow attack....which landed right in Bill’s face.

The shock from the sudden blast of ice and snow in his face sent Bill tumbling to the ground. He lost hold of his Pokegear, and it landed in the dirt next to him.
“Wh-What?” was all he could say as he wiped snow and ice from his face, regarding the Pokemon with uncertainty. “D-Did you just...?”

Cubchoo sniffled, eyes watering up. He really hadn’t meant to attack Bill. He began crying, falling down on his rear. Everything was going wrong! Bill didn’t think about his next action. In one swift motion he’d picked up the bear, holding it like a crying child, patting it’s back.

“There, there. It’s all right. I’m fine, see?” he grinned at it. Strange as it was, the bear certainly had a cute charm to it.

Cubchoo sniffled again, regarding his trainer’s smiling face. Maybe this wouldn’t be too bad after all. Maybe this guy would figure things out.
“Choo!” he said, smiling as he hugged his trainer. “Cubchoo!”

Bill had to laugh a little at the sudden show of affection. The mother bear still wasn’t in sight, and maybe non existent. For all he knew he was in some sort of dream, where bears spat out ice. Maybe it would be all right to keep the cub close. At least until he found a zoo or something.

Name: Hysterical Dame
Series: Problem Sleuth
Timeline: Chapter 22; After the black hole explodes and everyone is expelled in different directions.
Canon Resource Links: Problem Sleuth on the MSPAwiki

Personality:
Hysterical Dame is, well, a tad hysterical. Trapped in her room, desperately trying to contact a fella to come help her out and told - once she finally gets through to him - that he's a little too busy with weird puzzle shit to help? Well you can't really blame her. Everything seems capable of sending this gal into a tizzy, her hysterics meter seemingly always half full as she moves about her life trying to get out of her living space. At least at first. By the end of our story, she's grown exponentially from the constantly distraught damsel in distress, able to face her problems head on and without a fret in mind. Well, perhaps that's not quite true. She can and will still flip her lid when certain conditions are met.

Like what, you might ask? Well let's put it this way. She may seem like she has a pretty even temper, but if you mess with her housemate and friend Nervous Broad, you'll find the short end of that fuse very, very quickly. Wielding a deadly chainsaw and painful taser, you don't want to mess with this girl, but if you lay one harmful finger on the head of her friend you aren't going to have a choice. Though even when NB isn't involved, HD is skilled in battle and willing to duke it out when necessary. Because Mobsters don't fuck around. And neither does she.

Despite calling for help at first, she's actually not bad at the weird puzzle shit. She's a bright girl, able to gather all the pieces to her phone on her own! And she's able to get out of her house and figure out how to plug in a fan, the steps of which are far too over-complicated than they should be (changing scale and jumping trucks and all that jazz far more often than should be necessary!). Of course, she doesn't accomplish this on brains alone. HD comes equipped with a very high Pulchritude stat, lending her a hand in the matter of charm and diplomatic suave. If she can't get a job done herself, there's a high chance she can talk someone else into doing it. And if she can't do that, well maybe they'd like to strike a diplomatically fair deal with her.

Hysterical Dame is a 1920s flapper gal living in a psuedo-prohibition era world, and she does pretty okay for herself all in all. She's got a best friend, she's got a great communion with a hard-boiled detective, and the loyalty of some of the most unscrupulous whores you'll ever meet. Who wouldn't want to live that kind of life, right?

Strengths/Weaknesses:

+Fighting Prowess - Wielding a chainsaw and taser, Hysterical Dame is a force to be reckoned with. Along with those, her various techniques give her a great advantage and she fights well with others.
+Pulchritude - She possesses a great amount of natural charm, used to easily influence those around her to work with or for her.
+Intelligence - Weird puzzle shit is no difficulty for her. Well, okay maybe a little. But eventually she gets the job done.
+Loyalty - You don’t mess with her friends and she won’t mess with you. She’s willing to go to war for those closest to her, unwavering in her loyalty to them.

-Hysterics - She doesn’t struggle with this as much now as she did at first, but things can still send her into hysterics and it’s a little difficult to recover from them. She’s a little useless like this, flailing dangerously all over the place rather than doing anything constructive.
-Imaginary State - It’s implied in PS that she may just be the imaginary female counterpart to Problem Sleuth rather than any real person. While this of course won’t be a problem within Route thanks to being humanized, a lot of concepts that are natural and make total sense to her are likely a little far-fetched for the real world. Candy armor and weapons? Hysterical Dame being an acceptable name? Yeah. This means in the comic, she wouldn’t be able to interact in the real world, and therefore is confined completely to the imaginary one.

Try to cover the good points of what they can do, their life skills (not necessarily powers, but things they're just good at). Go into their biggest fears and what they just can’t do.

First Person Sample: You know what I think this place needs? [[The question is asked with a contemplative face of the young Dame to accompany it.]] I mean, it’s fine and dandy on it’s own, just the bee’s knees and all that jazz, but what this place really needs is a good old fashioned clambake. A real hop to get this place jiving. It doesn’t even need the hooch since there are a lot of younger birds around I’ve noticed. And a lot of gimlets that would have a problem with that. But man, you fellas are exactly why we need something to really liven up this place!

I can see it now; these sleepy towns done up in lights, all the brooksy slats and dolls in the streets just swinging it and having a good time. Ain’t that just a lovely thought? Tell me I’m not the only one that is...how d’ya fellas say it now? “Hip to that groove”? Yeah, that sounds right.

Just give me a hollar, yeah? I’ll get a real party going if there’s enough interest!

Third Person Sample: It took all the charm she possessed - every ounce of suave diplomacy at her disposal - to pull this off, but like hell was she going to give this chance up. The little building was turning out to be a real good looker, and it was all thanks to her friends. Well, not in the conventional sense, though to say that Nervous Broad had nothing to do with it would be a bold faced lie. No, no, you see she had come to find that Pokemon were extremely useful for things outside of battle. And with a little chit chat and striking a few deals, the Machop families of the local building company were more than willing to assist the Dame in her endeavors.

And boy was it shaping up. They were taking a break and she was seizing the moment to gaze at the gorgeous legitimate establishment that was currently in place. They would sell various Poke Merchandise, from food to toys to miracle cure-alls that may or may not actually work. It was small and homely, and sure the items were a little questionable but she loved it already. It would definitely pay for that flivver monster that NB wanted along with that cozy little shack on the outside of town that she’d had her eye on for a while, since their first pass through the sleepy little town. And who knows else what it would buy! Why, maybe they could eventually run a little speakeasy. It’d be like home!

Except no, after getting tangled up in that mess with the Mobster Kingpin and the hired thugs and just no. No running speakeasies for her. She’d much rather pay someone else to run one that she could visit. Yes that was a better idea.

Character
Name: Dustin Brooks
Series: Power Rangers Ninja Storm
Timeline: Post the Ninja Storm team up in Dino Thunder.
Canon Resource Links: http://powerrangers.wikia.com/wiki/Ninja_Storm

Personality:To put Dustin's personality bluntly, he's a people person. Overly cheerful, he's as friendly as someone can be saving the world. He is the "comic book geek" of the Wind Rangers, and was a fan of previous Rangers, who were considered urban legend, visible when they are first given morphers and he is the first to morph and (in turn) show Shane and Tori how to morph. He is somewhat naive and gullible as he has been used by one of Lothor's nieces Marah, but still retains his good natured outlook on life. Dustin has a bit of sympathy for Marah as they are both over looked by their colleagues and consider stupid by the others. Dustin actually will try to cheer up anyone down in the dumps, even if that person happens to be an enemy. He is very close to fellow Rangers Tori and Shane, having been childhood friends with both of them. Despite this, others tend to look down on him being a complete goofball and even a fool as stated by the Rangers' enemy Lothor. Dustin takes everything in stride however, and very few things bother him for very long. What he lacks in perspective or smarts, he makes up for it in heart. Dustin believes that most people are generally good and trustworthy, even if their previous actions might have you look otherwise he feels that there's good in almost everyone.

However if his trust is betrayed, Dustin has a tendancy to second guess himself particularly if his friends tend to doubt him. He also is very close to his father Jake, claiming that he taught him everything he knows about racing and motorcross. He also doesn't see anything wrong with using his own powers with helping non-Ranger friends such as his boss Kelly when they are in trouble. He firmly believes that his greatest ninja skill is his instinct. His bad side tends to rub off on the fact that he can be too trusting, which can backfire on him. He also likely has a problem with people never taking him seriously, but at his heart he's a kind hearted person who just tries to do the right thing.
Strengths/Weaknesses: His strengths include:
Being a friendly and outgoing person
Polite and always believing in others
Very loyal to his friends
Extremely brave in the face of danger.

His weaknesses include:
Being too trusting, particularly those who would use his trust to hurt him and his friends
Tends to act more by instinct rather than with his head
Hates being being considered a goofball.

First Person Sample: Okay, dudes this is really weird. This is no morpher, but at least I can talk to people on this thing. Hi, everyone! I'm Dustin. I hate to bug you guys but can someone tell me how I got here? The last thing I remember was that I was back at the Academy and I'm here... With this weird crocodile thing...

Sandile!
Sorry little dudette.

So if anyone can help out, it would be appreciated. Man, I really miss Cam at a time like this. He'd know what to do here. It's weird being without Shane and Tori and everyone else. Without Sensei, it feels weird.

Third Person Sample:

It had been only a few minutes since Dustin had woken up in New Bark Town, and already he was getting antsy. He hadn't seen anyone he recognized in the town: no Shane, Tori, Cam, Hunter or Blake. Not even any of the Dino Thunder Rangers. He was sure Cam or Tommy would have known what to do, but Dustin was pretty much lost. Though he wasn't exactly by himself though. A small brown crocodile creature with black stripes followed him after he had accidentally pushed a button on a small red and white ball, out she came out. And once out she wouldn't stop following him...

So they decided to explore the area to see what was hidden. Dustin didn't want to go too far in case someone needed help, and Sandile was hesitant to leave Dustin's side anyway. She was forceful like that. “Hey little dudette. See anyone?” Sandile shrugged sadly as best she was able to, seeing as she didn’t have shoulders. “Hey it's okay! Maybe my buds just went ahead. This place kind of reminds me of a game I used to play when I was a kid.” Almost immediately, Sandile's mood perked up.

“That's the way!” Dustin gave a small smile to Sandile, who returned said smile. The pair were two of a kind it looked like. “You know... You kind of remind me of my one friend and boss: Kelly. How about it? Would you like me to call you that, instead?” Sandile answered by somehow jumping onto Dustin's dirty blonde head. “Well, that settles that. Let's see if anyone can help us out, okay Kelly?” Kelly squealed in delight (or as much as a crocodile pokemon could). Though they might have looked downright strange to outsiders, Dustin ignored any looks towards him and Kelly. After all, sometimes you just had to trust people.

Character
Name: Hikaru Hitachiin
Series: Ouran High School Host Club
Timeline: Chapter 81
Canon Resource Links: Ouran High School Host Club wiki, Hikaru wiki, Manga summaries.

Personality: Hikaru cannot be described without his twin brother Kaoru. Since they are rarely separated, his personality and behaviour is highly dependent on Kaoru.

Hikaru and Kaoru are known as "the little devil type" of the Host Club. Their personalities are very much devious, causing trouble whenever they can. They put on shows of "twincest" for attention from the ladies, flirting with them, playing games with them. Together they put on such dramatic displays of false smiles, fake tears, anything at all to get what they want, even if it's something as ridiculous and immature as getting a certain reaction they want out of someone. They’re into computer games, as well as video games, and are quite picky about what they consider fun. With their tendency to get bored very easily, a game could be fun one day, and the next they’ve moved onto something else. They treat their games like they treat people. A person is fun to tease for a day or two, then they will soon get bored and move on to someone else to give them the same treatment.

They are both very selfish, though it's more obvious with Hikaru. He is the dominant one of the Hitachiin, coming up with most, if not all of the ideas of what he and Kaoru should do to entertain themselves and their customers at the Host Club. He gets possessive when people get too close to "his" friends, and becomes upset and angry. You always know when Hikaru is around, because he is always noisy and boisterous. He's got something to say about everything, he always finds something to criticize, and he likes to make people look stupid by putting them down and hurting their feelings because he would much rather say whatever is on his mind than hold back. He is more childish and immature when he’s without Kaoru, because Kaoru is usually the one to get him to stop doing things when he goes too far, and calms him down when he’s getting too angry and upset. He can be nice and have manners if he really tries, and he can be surprisingly mature when he actually sits alone and thinks thoroughly about things. His most mature moment would be when he dyed his own hair a different color, so that people would be able to tell him and his brother apart easier. He said that the reason people were rarely able to tell them apart is because they never made the effort to differentiate themselves from one another. Dyeing his hair meant taking the first step in maturing and becoming independent, something they have always had issues doing, despite it coming to a simple solution.

Hikaru is an emotional person, which is apparent with how he throws his anger at people when they upset him. He tends to run away from the situation because he doesn’t know how to deal with things without yelling and threatening violence (even though he won’t really do anything — all bark and no bite). However, there is much more to Hikaru than meets the eye. Hikaru is actually very insecure, something he doesn’t ever admit to, nor does he know how to properly express, with how confident he acts in front of others. He goes through bouts of loneliness, confusion, and just generally feeling lost in life. While he prefers to behave in an honest, blunt manner, he can feel ashamed of something he has said or done, especially in regards to his brother. Something happening to Kaoru is one of the scariest things in the world for Hikaru, to the point where there is anxiety, his hands are trembling, and he can’t stop panicking. It could be the littlest thing, like Kaoru getting a small cut on his face, but it is a huge deal to Hikaru. He is a nervous, anxious person at heart. Having an argument with Kaoru crushes his heart to the point where he has left him and gone to someone else, because he becomes too ashamed to face his own brother.

Even though Hikaru is still, and will probably always be dependent on Kaoru to some degree, it's apparent that Hikaru has done a decent amount of maturing and becoming slightly independent. He's been able to remain calm and somewhat patient in situations that usually would set him off with the snap of a finger. He's been somewhat more understanding of people and their feelings. He’s more willing to lend people a hand, whereas before he would have considered it a waste of time and probably would have resorted to insulting people. Kaoru has really helped him learn to take a step back and look at things in a calm manner, however at the end of the day, Hikaru is still Hikaru and enjoys he bothering the hell out of Tamaki and others when he's bored enough, as well as putting on displays of "twincest" to get a scream out of the girls who stop by the Host Club.

Strengths/Weaknesses: Hikaru is very skilled in fashion design, floral arrangements and various artistic things, as well as knowing his way around a computer (photoshop web design, etc). He’s good at coming up with ideas for fun things and can stand up for himself and his friends. On the flipside he’s dependent on his brother with little patience to deal with others. He’s hot tempered and throws his emotions around, taking his anger out on others and being a bit of a bully. He leaps into things before thinking about them, often getting himself into a situation where he is scolded by Kaoru or one of his friends. He uses people for his own entertainment purposes and to get what he wants. He’s also a snob, having been raised with luxurious things, so he has very high standards for pretty much anything and everything.

First Person Sample: [Perhaps you’ve all seen a face just like his before. Maybe you don’t realize it, because his hair is a different color — darker, even. In any case, Hikaru rubs the back of his neck with a look of confusion on his face.]

The last thing I ever expected was to be living inside of a video game. I have to admit I thought this was a complete joke at first, or that I was dreaming. A typical reaction, I’m sure. But then I found that I have this little guy with me — Really and truly! No joke!

[There’s the lowered camera view to Vulpix, his Pokemon — yes, that’s right! His Pokemon. It just seemed too weird and cool to be true! He moves the camera back to himself with a grin on his face.]

Ta da! [He says in a sing-song voice!] Isn’t he the cutest? I have yet to think of a name, because I refuse to pick just anything! Lame is never in fashion!

Also... does anyone have any experience with fabric in this place? I was hoping there was some type of... fireproof fabric so that I can make my new Pokemon a ribbon to wear!

Third Person Sample: This is terrible! Absolutely terrible! … Also really cool, but mostly terrible! Terrible because, as far as he’s concerned, it should be obvious that he and Kaoru should be together at all times! Isn’t it common knowledge that twins should be together, since they were born together?! Whoever sent him here, alone, must be a terrible, horrible person! Ugh, this is really pissing him off!

Hikaru balls his hand up into a fist, turning to his Vulpix. “Aren’t you... kind of like a dog? Or something like that! Can’t you sniff out my brother?! He’s got to be here somewhere!

No, he mustn’t take out his frustration on his innocent little Pokemon. He mustn’t freak out. That’s exactly what Kaoru would tell him! But without Kaoru he can’t do anything other than freak out! Kaoru could be in trouble, and Hikaru would never be able to forgive himself if something happened to him!

He holds a finger up at his Vulpix. “What if we split up?! Could I trust you to do that? I promise I’m not going to leave you! We can meet up in this very spot after searching! Are you in?” Vulpix looks at him with a headtilt, then nods. Hikaru can hardly believe that he’s talking to a Pokemon, let alone his very own Pokemon. This was weird and cool... and still really terrible because he has absolutely no idea where Kaoru could be, or if he’s even here! What if he’s not here?! Then he really would be alone, and that would be even worse!

Okay, Hikaru, breathe! That’s what Kaoru would say in this situation, and he would be right. Freaking out solves absolutely nothing, and right now he needs to do what Kaoru would tell him to do, and that’s to take a few moments to cool off, then take care of what needs to be done. Yes! He fist pumps, using these thoughts to motivate himself to continue not freaking out, keep calm, and search for his brother!

Character
Name: Tony Stark
Series: Marvel Cinematic Universe
Timeline: After The Avengers Movie
Canon Resource Links:MCU history of Tony Stark

Personality: Tony is a man of many complexities that at times almost seem at odds with each other. He claims to not be sentimental, however the three robots in his movies were built while he was in college and he has always kept them with him. He is impulsive and vain, yet can muster a great deal of foresight and strategy, and is really not afraid to get his hands dirty. Not only that, but as someone who is seen by the world as a play boy, he has a deep sense of romance within himself that few get to see.
Tony Stark is a quick-witted genius, who near compulsively talks over other people in order to justify his own thoughts. While he is also able to come off as rather unflappable and cool headed, most all of Tony’s expressions come straight from his eyes and eyebrows. Once his mind is made up on something his eyes will show it, and if you can see it in his eyes then there is very little point in attempting to dissuade him.
He is also a man of great depth and emotion, however it is all greatly internalised. When learning about the crimes being committed by the 10 rings in Golmera, Tony is furious but very little of it comes to the surface, at most the only thing that truly shows this is the hard expression he wears and his repulsor assault on his windows. Because for Tony, a great deal of his life is based on what he can control of it. Which is shown time and again, when Tony has no control over what is happening around him he can become erratic in his movements has he fights to get back on top of the situation, or he will become self-destructive.
His erratic behaviour is shown in the first movie when he is presented with the events of Golmera, where he take his frustration out on his shop then heads straight to the middle eastern town in his newly machined Mark III armour and takes out all of the insurgents, without telling anyone or any actual training in any way including basic self-defence, Just his relatively untested suit.
Self-destructive behaviour is shown in the second movie when the repeated use of his Iron man armour starts to cause accelerated palladium poisoning, and without a suitable element which at the time couldn’t be found, he would die. Which after a few failed attempts to let those close to him know due to how hard it is for him to express his feelings lead him to become more reckless with his life than usual causing him to become a bigger grandstander, wasting more money than needed and becoming dangerously drunk drastically pushing away Rhodie and Pepper from him.
Even though Tony has been born into money and can be over the top frivolous with it, he is also exceedingly generous with it, with his money going to his own charities like the (Maria*) Stark foundation, and the Boy Scouts of America. Even going so far as to run the Stark Expo for an entire year in order for up and comers the chance to show case their work in order to get additional funding from those attending the expo or just to show off what it on the horizon.
Tony’s genius is currently unparalleled; the only person who rivalled him was his father who died roughly 30 years ago, while Tony was 15. Which is shown in his history with robots, his creating of JARVIS, not to mention his adapting his father’s arc reactor and being able to design a personal full body prosthesis that can achieve flight, is completely self-pressurised and contains an internal waste filtration system, also known as the Iron Man armour.
He is the biggest promoter of his external persona of the ‘Genius billionaire playboy philanthropist’ and while all these things about him are true, he will always play up to it in public, that being said, however, he is loyal to those he considers to be his in various way, and is very protective of them in his own ways. When he was lead to believe that Agent Phil Coulson was dead, it was the moment that Tony had decided that Loki had taken it too far and had made it his mission to make sure that Loki didn’t get away with what he had done, even going so far to tell Loki that not only had his made enemies of all those within the Avengers (While interestingly enough, leaving himself completely out of the equation), that he had also pissed of Phil Coulson.
Before his kidnapping, Tony was never concerned about accountability, but once seeing the effects that his weapons had on the innocent, he became very aware that everything you do has consequences and you should be held responsible for it. To that end when something happened Tony took it upon himself to correct what had happened, from Obadiah Stane becoming the Iron Monger, Ivan Vanko wanting revenge for his wronged father, Justin Hammer’s desperate need to show Tony up with inferior products, even so far as to take on some of the responsibility for Loki’s rampage. Each time he put his life on the line to correct these problems, believing that as long as the correct outcome was achieved his life was negligible. However he would always put his life on the line when he couldn’t formulate any other plan of action. Not one to lay down on the wire himself, but cut the wire, proving that Tony would rather lose no lives, than lose one heroic one.
Due to his father being almost cruelly distant, and his mother barely being mentioned, it is obvious as to why Tony has a hard time being a part of team situations, or even trusting other on a basic level. It is even shown that the only people he will be ‘real’ with are Pepper, Rhodie and to a certain extent Happy. But even then the moment things would get to a certain level of real he would immediately pull back or say something that he knew would cause distance. This is most obviously shown in the first half of Iron Man II. It was only when confronted with a challenge far too big for him to handle on his own that he was actually open to the idea of not only being part of a team, but being in a position that wasn’t the direct leader. However he does seem to stand somewhere between co-leader to Steve Rogers (Captain America) and second in command as the others are more likely to take orders from him than give order to him. For a man like Tony Stark this is probably one of his biggest steps in personal development.
Head canonwise, I see Tony as having a great aversion to having people too close to his chest, after Stane’s callous attack on him and stealing the reactor from out of his chest. And also that he is not only an early riser, never sleeping in past 6:30am, but that he tends to sleep only for 6 – 4 hours a day when not caught up in his super-heroing. A lover of coffee, he also tends to snack on various fruits and since the palladium poisoning takes a very conscious role in what he actually drinks, while not taking to complete sobriety, he is less keen to drink more than 2-3 drinks a night, scotch neat being his preferred abusive substance.
*While it is stated the Tony started the Maria Stark foundation in supplemental data within MCU it is only referred to in the movies as anything more than the Stark Foundation.

Strengths/Weaknesses: Tony is a genius inventor capable of conceiving and building technological advancements far ahead of cutting edge technology. Among his achievements are the redeveloped arc reactors that his father co-conceived, His almost hyper-intelligent A.I system JARVIS, his Iron Man armour marks I - VII, and various advanced weapons/medical/agricultural technologies. Tony was taught to box by his body guard/chauffer Happy Hogan and has become quite physically formidable on his own when the situation demands it through his training and his various engineering projects that require him to be hands on, like working with cars or building particle accelerators. However, without his Iron Man armour he is pretty much a normal human strength and reaction wise. And without the arc reactor powering the electro-magnet in his chest he will die within a few days, slowly and painfully.
Despite being part of the Avenger, Tony still has trust issues which cause him to strike out on his own when they aren’t around, mostly because that’s when he’s most comfortable. While he is very charismatic and could sell sand to a camel, Tony has bad interpersonal skills, as he still lives in a very “This is my world, you all just play in it” way. If it is of interest to him, Tony will learn everything on a subject very quickly, however if there is no immediate interest most everything he’s told is forgotten, which is seen when Tony is unaware of Pepper’s birthday, or her allergy to strawberries, though these were details that would have been supplied to him when Tony was obscenely more self-involved than he is now.
It has also been shown that when challenged (In any way), Tony refuses to back down from it, feeling that it would cause him to lose face to those around him. However if he feels that a challenge is just so beneath him he will ignore or more likely be flat out insulting and rude the challenger, an example would be Justin Hammer, who tries so desperately to challenge Tony at what he does and is. Justin however isn’t the genius that Tony is and fails more than he succeeds, Knowing all of this, Tony is openly rude and dismissive of him, even openly admitting in front of him that the fact he had to be in a photo with him was ‘so awful’.

Right, so after studying up on the pokedex, I’m going to need to know the best ways to routes 10 and 11 in Kanto as well as 37 Johto. I’m looking for some of these little guys in particular, and that’s where the Pokedex says they are.
Don’t think it’s going to be easy, because it never really is. But they’re going to come in more than a little handy while I have to re-establish myself. Not something really new, though the location has changed quite a bit.
Third Person Sample:
Tony sits outside the Pokécenter contemplatively. The freaky bird he had been told was not only his, but he was also meant to train it, make it the best it could be.
Tony’s eyes are on the bird, which stands just off to one side while still in front of him. It preens for a moment before looking back at its new trainer. After a few moments of their eyes meeting each other, the genius engineer sees a level of intelligence that he had never seen in birds or most animals in his old world, especially not animals in New York.
“Skaaa?”
The bird gives him a curious tilt of the head.
“You’re really just going to say your. Well, your species, there aren’t you?”
The Skarmory just tilts its head in another direction, before giving something of a nod, causing Tony to lean back on the bench rubbing his temples.
“There is also the chance that something happened and I am drunk, and I’ve moved beyond pink elephant-“
Tony stops, and narrows his eyes at the bird.
“There aren’t… Pink elephants, right?”
The steel bird shook its head at him, causing the middle-aged man to sag in relief.
“Thank god, I just have to deal with the fact that a bird made of metal is naturally occurring and is actually capable of not only flight, but the ability to understand human speak.”
He digs his hand into his pocket, pulling out

Character
Name: Carter Blake
Series: Heavy Rain
Timeline: Just after the end of the game, with the endings A New Life, Heroine, and Case Closed.
Canon Resource Links: Here

Personality:Beneath Lieutenant Carter Blake's gruff, callous exterior beats the heart of a good old-fashioned bad person. In the dichotomy of good cop and bad cop, he plays the rare third role of batshit insane cop. He is an angry man with a short fuse and no patience for assholes, defined as anybody who tries to keep him from beating the crap out of people.

To be fair, most of the interactions we see with him are in extremely stressful situations and through the viewpoint of his partner Norman Jayden, a guy he can't stand. He was friendly for about five minutes, and things went immediately downhill from there. He's been working on the Origami Killer case for two years, and this stuck-up FBI asshole with fancy sci-fi glasses waltzes in and tries to take over. They clash constantly, usually because Jayden wants to rely on stupid crap like profiling and evidence. However, he does make an effort to work with him and solve the case. He gets along reasonably well with the other police officers (possibly helped along by none of them being real models of the profession either), and he couldn't have made lieutenant if he weren't competent to some degree. He's capable of dialing it back; in the interviews with Ethan and Ethan's ex-wife early on in the game, he's much more calm and professional.

Once things really get going, highlights of Blake's role include beating up a suspect, yelling at a schizophrenic, and beating up another suspect. The schizophrenic, Nathaniel, thinks he's an end times prophet and Blake is the antichrist, and between the beard and the general behavior, it's a pretty reasonable conclusion. Blake shouts at and badgers the guy, accusing him of being the Origami Killer while he grows more and more scared and frantic. Eventually Nathanial pulls a gun. Depending on the player's actions, he can be either shot or arrested, and Blake's reactions change accordingly. I'm using the variant where Jayden doesn't shoot, and Blake is pissed that he could've been killed, but information from the other route is relevant: Blake says that when it comes to shooting people, the first is hard, but it gets easier. Interestingly, it's one of the few times when he shows sympathy.

Another is if Scott Shelby gets arrested. Blake helps him get out and offers to help him with anything else he needs, mentioning a time when Shelby got him out of trouble before. This suggests they worked together before Shelby retired.

The other player character he interacts with is Ethan, who he becomes convinced is the Origami Killer, arrests, and beats the crap out of. As Blake sees it, this is a kid-killing scumbag who knows the location of the latest victim, and asking nicely isn't going to cut it. That Ethan might be innocent doesn't enter into his thought process. He also beats up Ethan's therapist on the way, and if Jayden interferes, goads him to attack him. If Jayden does punch him, he pulls a gun. He doesn't really fight fair.

In the ending I'm working from, he's still working as an officer and dealing with the fallout from the resolution of the Origami Killer case.

Strengths/Weaknesses: - Temper. Just about anything can set him off.

- Impatient. He'll go for the obvious answer even when it's pretty clearly wrong.

-Violent. Maybe not the first resort, but it's high up on the list. He's the kind to punch first and ask questions while punching.

+/- Jaded. As a homicide cop, he's seen it all.

+/- Stubborn. Once he's fixed on something, he doesn't back down. On the other hand:

+ Determined. He doesn't give up, either.

+ Doesn't scare easy. You could call it courage if you're being nice, or bullheadedness if you're not.

First Person Sample: [The view shakes up and down]

--the hell does this thing work? Hello?

[When it steadies, the face of a goateed, confused-looking man takes up most of the view.]

Fuckin' sci-fi video cell phones...This working?

[There's beeping as he jabs at buttons at random]

Something weird's going on here. There's some lady calling herself my mom, and she's gotta be ten years younger than me.

If this is some kind of cult, I'm not drinking the Kool-aid. They must've drugged me already, cause there's some kind of pink dog on its hind legs standing there watching me.

[His eyes flick offscreen. His expression becomes disturbed.]

Just...watching.

[There's a muffled, inquisitive "Bull?" Blake's face turns offscreen and he shouts] Leave me alone, goddammit!

Third Person Sample: Blake had to find some answers. Panicking would be a waste of time, so he wasn't going to do it. He'd been in worse places.

Come to think of it, that was the creepiest part. Everybody was cheerful, friendly, and acting like all the bizarre acid-trip animals were supposed to be there. And for once it wasn't raining. Blake was starting to think he'd take rain over quiet, upbeat music coming from nowhere. His gun was gone, all the police he could find were clone ladies who told him the same thing everybody else did about going on a trip. Eventually he went down the road they kept talking about just to get the hell away from them and the lady who said she was his mother. She was real insistent about that, and about him taking this bag along.

As soon as Blake got out of sight of the town, he sat down on a stump by the side of the road and dumped out the bag to look for a tracking device or a bomb. There was a whole bunch of crap: weird clothes (how did they get his size? Shit, he didn't want to know), a deformed cell phone, some rope, a couple little spray bottles of what looked like Windex.... There were some red and white round things that didn't tick or vibrate when he held them up to his ear, and were empty when he opened them up.

Ah, hell. Stopping gave the pink dog muppet thing a chance to catch up.

"What?" Blake grunted at it. It grunted back.

He tried ignoring it. It came over a snuffled at the pile of stuff, then at him. Blake prodded it with his foot. "Get lost, you little mutant."

It ignored him. He tried jabbing it harder. It growled and sank its teeth into his leg.

"Fuckfuckfuckfuckfuck!"

Blake kicked wildly until it went flying. When it hit the ground, it crouched down and glared at him like this was all his fault.

Swearing under his breath, Blake gathered up all the stuff and crammed it back into the bag. he hefted it on his shoulders and got moving down the road. Now what he needed was answers and a rabies shot.

Character
Name: Justine Florbelle
Series: Amnesia: The Dark Descent / Amnesia: Justine
Timeline: After the end of the game.
Canon Resource Links: Wiki link! Although it’s not a complete source, and while my personality section should supplement it, it’s worth mentioning that it’s implied that Justine knows about the ‘Orbs’ (artifacts of unimaginable power that kick off the events of the original game)
Personality: Justine is a complete and utter psychopath. She’s not the kind of ‘psychopath’ that blows up cities and then angsts over how she’s going to hell, either—she’s a good, old-fashioned psychopath (with a heavy narcissism streak, no less). She has very little empathy, at least as she is.

Why did I add that little prepositional phrase? Because she once had empathy. There are references to her comforting a crying servant when they were little girls, and showing genuine shame to her father. And then when she has her memories wiped, according to the player, she could either be very concerned for human life or completely indifferent to it (I am playing her as if she is mostly indifferent to the value of life, even without her memories.) Logic dictates that she was born a normal girl, but something happened that completely obliterated what humanity she has.

Some people think that she was sexually abused by her father, and there are some questionable things written in the game, but that wouldn’t explain why she keeps behaving that way when she’s wiped her memory. My theory is that her father’s terrible handling of her while she grew caused her to nurse growing resentment and cynicism, but it was the Shadow that really made her what she is.

For those who don’t know, the Shadow is a force of nature within her canon, one that guards an incredibly powerful object. When the main character steals said object, the Shadow starts to follow him doggedly, murdering anyone who he comes in contact with and asks about the object. This happened when Justine was eleven, and her father was one of the many people to receive a letter from the main character asking about the object. Soon after the letter arrived—soon enough so that it still wasn’t opened—Justine beat her father to death with a rock. Let me reiterate: an eleven-year-old girl beat a grown man to death. And then got away with it. The theory is that the Shadow’s force was behind her father’s murder, and she was a vehicle for it, which would explain how she managed it and how she turned out. After all, it does seem like everyone who comes in contact with the Shadow either dies or becomes a complete sociopath.

But whatever happened, it destroyed any normal form of empathy she was capable of, and she lost the ability to make an intimate emotional connection with a person. She can be attached to people, but she doesn’t love them, and can easily turn around and string them up if she’s bored.

But of course, psychopathy is a trait, not her complete personality. Justine likes to have fun, and tends to live for the moment. Parties, drugs, sex—she does it all, but more than that, she likes to spend her time with poetry and literature and intellectual stimulation. She’s a hedonist, but she’s an extremely intelligent one, easily one of the finest minds of her generation.

One can come to that conclusion because of the following. Her father was a scientist who specialized in psychology and child development and was one of the stars of his field. He didn’t have a lot of time for her beyond doing tests for his research into children. Her education was handled by tutors, and the attitude of the time was that a man’s education was not for a woman (one of the only French schools for girls at the time actually forbade its girls from taking anything science- or politics-related). She learned how to read, write, take care of a household, and that’s about it. Yet despite that, she has at least nine phonographs twenty years before Thomas Edison invented them. Fans theorize that she made them herself, which explains her familiarity with them and her intuition for how they work. She designed her entire Cabinet of Perturbation, which is a marvel for her time. Not only that, but she developed the Amnesia drink with no apparent help from those who already knew how to make it. She did it all from her own experimentation and self-teaching, and that alone speaks to her incredible intellect.

Which also feeds into the whole ‘why she has no empathy’ thing. She’s smart, but she’s lived her whole life in a society that categorically puts her in the category of ‘dumb’ and ‘weak’. It doesn’t actually occur to her that she’s the smartest one in the room; it only occurs to her that she’s the prettiest. That’s all she is in her mind: a pretty face and a good time. And she’s perfectly happy with that.

She understands that the world she lives in is a man’s world, and she knows how to twist its rules to her advantage. She’s charming and fun and beautiful, so much so that she had at least three different men eating out of the palm of her hand at once whilst knowing about each other. In the 18th century. With men of all different classes. Such things were practically unheard back then, but she managed it because of her charisma and her cultivated ability to wrap men around her fingers. She plays on the traditional woman’s role to get men to do what she wants, and then throws them away like day old newspapers when she grows bored.

I’ve given you an overview of her psychopathy, her genius, and her relationship to men, but there’s one last thing: her relationship with her late mother, and thus, her relationship with women and with herself.

Her mother died while giving birth to Justine’s brother, who also died soon afterwards. It happened so early on that Justine doesn’t even remember what her mother looks like anymore, and when she asked her father about it, he said, “Her beauty was blinding.” That phrase sticks with Justine, because she always wanted to fill the void her mother left behind. She wanted her father to pay attention to her the way he paid attention to the memory of her mother, and she wanted to be this supposedly perfect woman who could do no wrong. In a way, that’s what she’s become in her own eyes.

Justine is beautiful. She really, really is. She’s also an aristocrat, which in her eyes, makes her above right and wrong. Men follow her the way her father followed her mother, and she now wields all the power her mother’s memory once did, if not more. Other women don’t figure into this because Justine’s only exposure to other women growing up were servants she was not allowed to talk to. Justine doesn’t know how to deal with women beyond superficial niceties, because women aren’t able to be manipulated the way men are in her time. Women look at her in scorn because of how ‘free with herself’ she is, and because of that, she tends to look down on other women for being too weak to reach out and take what they want the way she has. She’s a boy’s gal, and that’s because men always do exactly what she wants them to, where girls do the opposite.

Strengths/Weaknesses:

+ Brilliant engineer
+ Brilliant chemist (or the 18th century equivalent)
+ Brilliant in general
+ Appreciative of poetry and art (and pretty damn good at it)
+ Charming
+ Beautiful
+ Fabulous party host
+ A blast to be around (as long as you’re not a victim)
+ Confident
+ Good with people

- Psychopath
- Narcissist
- Sadist
- Borderline masochistic (she seems unable to feel a lot of emotion, so she gives herself adrenaline rushes and risks getting eaten alive to substitute)
- Doesn’t take anything seriously
- Afraid of nothing short of a lobotomy, not even death, and will thus put herself in danger
- Fickle, and doesn’t always follow through with things
- A massive tease
- Hedonistic to the extreme
- Arrogant and classist
- Mood swings

--frighteningly complex. What does it do, I wonder?

[The video turns on to reveal soft white fingers and green cloth. It looks like someone’s holding the communicator in their lap whilst looking at the back.]

The material is like nothing else. It feels like room-temperature metal. [Tick tick tick someone is tapping on the communicator.] Less dense as well. That would explain the warmth.

[The communicator is shifted on its side, revealing the city of Goldenrod and a little Gothita standing on a bench besides whoever is holding the communicator.] I don’t suppose you know how it works? [The Gothita looks at her trainer blankly.] No, I thought not. More’s the pity. Well, I doubt it’s too important. I’ll take it apart later.

Third Person Sample: Justine is bored. So very, very bored.

She’s thrown a masquerade. She’s seduced all the straight men in the local Pokémart. She’s powered through all the books she could find in the library about the weird new technology in this place. She’s mastered the communicator, trained her animals, played with Croagunk poison, broken in a Ponyta… hell, she even started timing herself to see how quickly she could ruin a marriage in town! (Her record is a week and a half.)

Yes, Justine is bored. And worse, there’s nothing that can readily relieve her, except…

…Oh, there’s an idea.

Without fail, the Cabinet had relieved any kind of boredom. Better yet, the preparation relieved her. Her careful work turning her suitors into monsters. The selection of victims, the sound of them begging and damning and negotiating for their lives. There was nothing boring about that. It lit her blood in a way not even drugs could.

But there’s no Cabinet to prepare here. No closed maze to design without the interference of others. No matter, though. Team Rocket isn’t appropriately feared. It's even the subject of laughter for some, likely due to that idiot that liked to hiss like a snake and certain incidents involving peculiarly placed ledges with ugly sweaters waiting below. She can fix that, and she can deal with the boredom once and for all.

Yes. Yes, she will fix that. Let Team Rocket think she’s doing it for them—she’ll have her fun either way.

She’s looking forward to this.

Character
Name: Mami Tomoe
Series: Puella Magi Madoka Magica
Timeline: The Puella canon has multiple timelines, thanks to one character's time reset power. Mami is pulled from mid-chapter 8 of The Different Story, which details a separate timeline from the ones in the anime.
Canon Resource Links: Anime Information || Mami Details

Personality:
Mami makes a splash with her first appearance, jumping into the scene to save Madoka and Sayaka from familiars before explaining her status as a magical girl and giving the audience an idea of how things work in the world of Puella. This first impression is a good indicator of the role Mami takes on in the series - the elder, the experienced, the one happy to help. Composed and unfazed by danger, she faces the initial battles and confrontations without hesitance or doubt, and offers the girls a guiding hand through their initial exposure to the life of a magical girl. This is not the first time she's filled such a role, as in other media she is shown mentoring Kyoko - a bond that ended in a harsh split over differing views.

Mami spent her time as a magical girl focusing on protecting the unknowing, no matter the cost to herself. More than once, she keeps fighting where other girls would run for their lives, rather than let a witch escape and hurt more people. But most magical girls didn't act so altruistically. They need the grief seeds dropped by the witches to replenish their magic, and so many wouldn't "waste it" on familiars that harm innocent bystanders, and team up with other magical girls in seed collecting. Mami's divergent efforts cost her, leave her fighting alone where other girls might work together, and it weighs on her more than she cares to let on.

While Mami's time alive in the anime is brief, it gives a revealing image of the girl that is later expanded upon by story lines in the manga series, video game, and drama cds. Her childhood is not detailed, but she became a magical girl when Kyubey appeared, just as she and her parents were injured in a car accident. Presented with the choice of a contract or death, she quickly wished for her own survival. This impulsive move would come to haunt her. Aside from the loneliness it brought with it, she does not lament her wish, the loss of a normal life, or the danger of the fights. What she does regret is not having the time to think about her wish, as she could easily have saved her parents. Deserved or not, she judges herself harshly for not thinking of it at the time, and admires girls who make a contract for a selfless wish - even if she is wary of the consequences.

In truth, Mami is much weaker than the persona she presents. She's not likely to actually panic, but is still prone to shattering under emotional duress, and make desperate moves. Her will to survive is strong, but it comes from her fear of being alone, and in some timelines her self-preservation and good will is squashed by guilt or despair. She's been shown to let the friends she loves choose a life of fighting if it means she won't be alone. She has even killed them, rather than watch them fall to despair and become witches. Once the harsher realities of this world come to light, Mami almost inevitably falls apart - if she isn't already dead.

What can be said, though, is that all timelines show Mami making some effort to overcome her failings - whether she succeeds or not.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
+ Poised and polite, she displays a calm, friendly demeanor.
+ Tries to do what she sees as right, instead of what's easiest.
+ Presents a strong front for the sake of her duty and the friends she fights to keep.

● A dedicated and observant combatant, whether her skills spawn purely from magic or not.
● A good cook and hostess, capable of providing delicious tea and desserts.
● A fine decorator and housekeeper, given the example of her apartment.

- Much of her strength and cheer is feigned, or at least doesn't come naturally.
- Can get so caught up in a moods, she'll miss what's right under her nose.
- Emotionally fragile, and likely to give in to despair with the right triggers.

[The screen sparks to life, showing Mami standing in front of a tree. Her camera work is steady, but it takes her a few moments to look up from the controls and figure out where to focus her smile.]

Hello. Excuse the random contact, but I'm looking to gather information. [She looks down at something at her feet, her polite expression softening a bit at whatever she sees, before looking up again.] Given the effort put into calling me - and anyone listening to this - here, I assume the task we've been given is very important. But, it also sounds like the goal is not the same for everyone, or even how to go about it.

I don't want to press forward without thinking about what I wish to do, so if it's not too troublesome... Does anyone have any insight to share? Or pointers on what to avoid? I would appreciate any advice.

Third Person Sample:
Mami didn't understand.

One instant she was diving into a barrier - perhaps a bit more recklessly than usual, but Sayaka was fast, and got too far ahead of her - and the next, she was waking up in a house, an odd hand-held on her person and the elderly gentlemen just outside the front door repeating the strangest things. Between the sudden shift in surroundings, the creatures the "professor" presented to her, and the music following her every step, she was half-convinced this was the trick of the most peculiar witch she'd ever hunted.

Fortunately, his quite normal speech dashed that idea.

But the reassurance was an empty one, as it left her sitting in the grass of a foreign town, watching complete strangers walk by, questions bouncing around her head. And among the more obvious ones leaving her tense (Where was she? How did she get there? Where did Sayaka and the witch go? What were these Pokémon?) Mami was considering the creature before her. Her "partner" - a tiny little plant, alive, complete with little eyes that blinked back at her from time to time.

That is, when it wasn't closing them, apparently happy to bask in the sun.

"You know, you don't seem ready to attack anyone."

She received a little squeak in return, and the not-a-familiar turned a confused, perhaps affronted stare on her. So it could understand her, too. If that was the case, Mami simply had to smile.

"Excuse me, I didn't mean any insult. I just, don't know what to expect." The only thing she had been told was this little creature was "hers" to keep. It would fight beside her, and never leave her alone. The idea alone was worth a pause, when otherwise she would be running off looking for answers or an escape, or panicking that her soul gem was gone. No, in its place was the round ball this living plant sprouted from, and for all the insanity of the moment, Mami had been been granted a most unexpected gift, and without apparent price.

And it looked like her new little companion was just as uncertain - if far calmer than herself. It took her distraction and random bouts of shaky silence in stride, making quiet noises as Mami experimented with the hand-held and listened to what it had to say about her new "Pokémon" before snapping it shut.

"Apologies for the wait. I suppose introductions are in order?" Smoothing out her skirts, she gave a little bow to the perplexed bulb. "My name is Mami Tomoe, pleased to be working with you. Do you have a name?"

The little thing fluttered in place, making an uncertain noise she could only take as a reluctant no. But that just brought a slow smile to the not-so-magical girl's face.

"Well, we'll just have to fix that, won't we?"

Character
Name: Cloud Strife
Series: Kingdom Hearts
Timeline: Post-KHII
Canon Resource Links: You don't know me!

Personality: Cloud is often shown to be both very similar and very different from his VII counterpart. In many ways, he is very similar. He constantly worries for his friends, often worrying over being unable to protect them and wondering if he ever will be able to, but is also very different. He grew up in a very different world. He is often shown running away from something, or rather, someone. Namely Tifa, because he doesn't want her to get hurt should she come near him, knowing that Sephiroth is close by. His obsession over Sephiroth is not unwarranted either. Sephiroth claims to be Cloud (and it's even hinted as they both have a strikingly similar face within the game, even Goofy comments on this!) and that he is his Darkness.

While the game never outright states what Sephiroth actually is, this could be a good indication that Sephiroth really is Cloud's Darkness manifested just as Tifa could be Cloud's Light. No one knows for sure, so I won't elaborate too much on it. Either way, though, he does constantly fight Sephiroth, in hopes to one day either get rid of him completely or subdue him long enough to protect everyone else. After all, he even fell into Hades' trap, even trying to harness the Darkness to look for his Light and, in hopes, become stronger. But it didn't work and he learned from that.

His devotion and his compassion to his friends is quite admirable and astonishing, given how quiet and stoic he tends to act around him. But he also shows a remarkable sense of observation. He even has to tell Leon to relax, that Sora is strong and that the Keyblade picked the right person for the job. "He's a lucky kid." is all he had to say and interestingly enough, it was enough. Cloud doesn't speak much, but what he does have to say is always important and lasting. The only time he probably ever falters is when he's around Tifa or Aerith, as they know him best and how to get him to show more than the perpetual lineface.

And what Aerith and Tifa show is how undeniably awkward Cloud can get, hinting at a certain shyness that contributes to his quiet aloofness. He isn't sure how to act around the girls, with Tifa he pushes away because he wants to protect her and with Aerith it's because she knows how to get under his skin (not in a bad way!) and basically to get him talking. With Leon and Sora, however, he has a certain camaraderie with them. With Sora, he's almost like a mentor and with Leon, it's obvious that they are close friends and even have a rivalry with each other when it comes to fighting.

Cloud is a warrior who is compassionate and devoted to protecting his friends but will do everything he can to keep them at arms length, to the point where he can be socially awkward. He is obsessed with the Darkness in his heart, with Sephiroth who won't leave him alone, and will only be at peace once he his gone. But, all in all, Cloud is just a nice guy.

Strengths/Weaknesses: Physically, Cloud is very strong. He can lift the Buster Sword effortlessly and is quite fast. He's a bit of a sprinter, in a way, because he will unleash power, fast attacks all at once. And then need a moment or two to rest and catch his breath. He prefers combos and the occasional Thunder magic over anything else. This is also due to the fact that he has a bit of a one-track mind as mentioned above. He is stubborn as well, almost to a fault. Whenever he knows Sephiroth is nearby, he must defeat him at all cost.

Which leads me to his his fears and weaknesses. His greatest fear is being unable to protect his friends and losing to the Darkness. As such, he will always come to his friends' aid or to anyone's aid for that matter. However, perhaps he is a little too caring. When Tifa was threatened, he didn't hesitant to come to her aid but he also wasn't hesitant to keep her close by, as evidenced by him constantly running away from Tifa and even Aerith. He must kill the enemy quick or else the people he cares about will fall and, ultimately, himself. Sephiroth being one of the prime examples of an enemy he must defeat before he hurts his friends. The few people that were left after Radiant Garden's destruction are all that he has left and he can't lose them. Because he is so emotional, it can lead him to his downfall. Which is also why he tries to keep his emotions to himself. He knows his emotions are strong, hence the need to lock it all away.

Psy...

[Great. Just... fantastic. Ugh. He sighs and shakes his head. Thankfully, he had been taken from after the battle with Sephiroth, so he isn't worried about him so much as where the hell he is. He doesn't have a mom and this town is so small it shouldn't even qualify as a town. He finally addresses the PokeGear]

I thought I would have come back to Radiant Garden. What World did I land in this time? If anyone is there, I'd like to know. Thanks.

[Pause.]

Does anyone know a guy named Leon? Or some kid named Sora?

[He looks back at the Psyduck and starts linefacing again.]

And what am I suppose to do with you.

Third Person Sample: Cloud had begun making his way to Cherrygrove City. He wondered if that "city" will be some dinky little town as well. The Psyduck was walking behind him, or rather, waddling behind him. It was almost... cute, really. But Cloud had taken and seen almost everything, so it probably wasn't bother him as much as it should have. Even with the threat of Sephiroth gone, Cloud wasn't sure what to do. He had planned on going back to Radiant Garden to help rebuild it but that had to be put on hold for now. And maybe his friends were here, which hopefully allowed him to not be completely alone, despite his general disposition. But that still left the very real problem of not going back home yet. The place was nice, untainted but it wasn't his home.

It had taken him a long time for him to even feel at home in his original world, he wasn't sure he could do the same thing here even with whoever else was here. Cloud stopped walking to really take a look around. "No Darkness," He muttered.

But there was no Light either. It was like both were absent from this world. Or perhaps they were just in another form. Cloud couldn't tell and it was disconcerting. But he sighed, there was nothing to be done about it now. All he could do was go to Cherrygrove, make a call to let anyone he knew that he had arrived and simply... wing it. Cloud was used to that. Running around with no immediate plan. Who knows, perhaps it'll make the journey a bit more exciting that tiny towns and ducks with perpetual headaches.

He looked to Psyduck. "C'mon," He sighed. "Let's get going."

And off he went with the Pokemon in tow. Perhaps he could use this time to pick a name for the little guy. He couldn't just go around calling him by what he is, after all. It was just too weird.

Character
Name: Tsunade
Series: Naruto
Timeline: Right at the end of the Pain arc.
Canon Resource Links: Here http://naruto.wikia.com/wiki/Tsunade

Personality: On the outside Tsunade seems rather rash and mean for the most part. She seems to have no qualms knocking someone down for their faults, never seen praising their good qualities unless she absolutely has no chance to do otherwise. Though, this is usually in an effort to hide her own faults, though it also tends to make people around her work harder and try to prove her wrong, which is an underlying reason for her to do it in the first place. In all honesty, she’s a bit of a mother figure, despite the fact that she’d never ever consider herself as such. In a sense she’s a bit of a leader, being able to run an entire village without it completely falling into chaos. .. Except for that one time with Pein, but that doesn’t count as only one person could really take him on.

She really does try to put on a bit of an act, seeming tough on the outside, despite just wanting what’s best for those around her. Her tough exterior even extends to the way she acts around those close to her, having probably broken several of her teammate’s bones in the years they were forced to work together. Just over simple things, really, but her violence is truly something of a caring attitude, despite how it tends to look.

Sympathy isn’t something she tends to show much to others, though there are few instances where she’ll use it for someone else. This is only if no other option is available for her to use and is pretty much only in private and never in a public setting. Probably her most notable moment of sympathy and breaking her tough outer shell having been when she received news of Jiraiya’s death, seeming collected on the outside in public, though when in private was actually crying over his death.

Oddly enough, when confronted with some kind of life-threatening danger or something of the sort, particularly dealing with those close to her, she tends to favor anger. It’s kind of a “like it my way or get yourself killed” kind of demeanor of sorts. Though, well, it seems to be effective with her most of the time.
Strengths/Weaknesses: Tsunade has a few rather obvious points of strengths, those being everything the physical strength she possess as well as the strong unbreakable will that she has had for such a long time. She also tends to be rather protective of her shinobi despite how she might test them, not wanting to lose any of them if it can be helped. This particularly extends to those closest to her as well, not wanting to see them run off and get themselves hurt or killed but instead to be smart about it if they do try. She also has the position of a leader, taking it particularly seriously, doing whatever is necessary in order to keep the village and those that are a part of it as safe as is possible.

As for weaknesses, these are a bit more… well, it’s a longer list than the strengths go. Tsunade tends to have a rather short and quick temper which is usually her first reaction to things she doesn’t like or don’t end up going her way. She also has two rather big flaws with her that, no matter what she does, seem to persist despite wanting to rid of them. One being her addiction to gambling, being called the Legendary Sucker by various people and it’s really a true thing. No matter what she will lose unless something very bad is going to happen, in which case she wins. It’s a sign of a bad omen and tied to her at the same time and it’s always been proven true in the canon. Her second largest flaw is her addiction to alcohol. Tsunade seems to, honestly, go out of her way to get drunk as much as possible when something is weighing on her mind. It’s really a bit of an out of control addiction, enhancing her anger as well if one isn’t careful.

Pokémon Information
Affiliation: We’ll go Rocket since, uh, they’d have a better deal.

Samples
First Person Sample: [At first the gear shifts around a bit, showing various trees and bushes around her before focusing on a Slugma, the voice is obviously coming from behind it.]

You know what would be great? If someone could explain to me WHY there is a weird magma covered slug following me around. Last I got the memo; I’m pretty damn sure things like this don’t exist. You know, outside of summons, but even then I’m pretty sure the slugs didn’t have any that were covered in magma. [Man, and she can’t even get a hold of Katsuyu to explain this crap to her, that’s just absolutely lovely.

Giving a sigh she turns the gear away from the Slugma to show her own face, leaning against a tree not far from the happily scooting around Slugma.]

More importantly, does anyone happen to be nearby that has an idea of where to get a drink around this place? There’s only one way you’re going to get me to put up with this and that’s not by being sober.

Third Person Sample: To be fair, Tsunade hadn’t listened a single thing that the “trainers” had been telling her or anything the grunts had said by any means. Sure, she’d got the point of what she was supposed to do and that whole spiel, but it didn’t mean she had to care about the context around them. To be fair, she hadn’t any interest in actually doing anything the lot of them told her, not the type to work under someone else’s command or orders, mainly due to just being insanely stubborn than anything else.

Thus once she was freed from all of that she was quick to get outside and away from the bunch of idiots she’d heard ramble on and on again. The Slugma, who she’d ever so kindly named Blob, was crawling right next to her, not seeming to care how annoyed her trainer was. She knew that Tsunade couldn’t actually touch her if she wanted to and thus was safe from the anger and wrath of the woman.

Not that it’d helped that poor tree as soon as she was out of town. The fact it’d almost cracked under her fist still said a lot about her strength and the fact she was cursing under her breath probably didn’t help her case.

“This is beyond stupid!” She got out in a snarl, one heeled foot meeting the tree straight on. Poor thing probably didn’t expect to have a heel indention in the side of it.

The Vulpix that had been quietly following after merely made a light whine at her, nudging at the leg still on the ground to get her attention. Attacking trees wasn’t part of the business after all and it wasn’t doing Rocket any good, so why was she attacking them?

Not that the Vulpix was being paid attention to.

Series: Left 4 Dead 2
Timeline: In the middle of Swamp Fever
Canon Resource Links: http://left4dead.wikia.com/wiki/Left_4_Dead_2
http://left4dead.wikia.com/wiki/Ellis

Personality: The most obvious thing about Ellis is that he is a huge goofball. He's someone who doesn't tend to take life seriously and seeks out the fun in it, always looking to have a good time no matter the situation; the prime example being the zombie apocalypse. Most people would be put off by the zombies and would probably not be quite so cheerful as Ellis, but Ellis is a special case. He considers things like the zombie apocalypse to be one giant game, rolling through it with laughter and (slightly morbid) glee. Things like the zombie apocalypse just will not bring him down or break his spirits.

He is a very excitable, optimistic and happy person, which goes along with his fun loving attitude, but extends to other aspects and things as well. He's very much a kid at heart, with the way he gets excited over things like kiddy land at the carnival. It also lends itself well to the zombie apocalypse in that his cheerfulness tends to keep everyone pretty optimistic and boosts morale. This isn't all for the best, though, because with all of this also comes a recklnessness and cockyness that tends to get him in trouble sometimes, especially when zombies are involved, though it isn't always with zombies. His stories about him and Keith show that he can get up to some wacky an downright dangerous stuff all on his own, and prove that he's something of a daredevil, even if it's Keith that tends to take the brunt of the damage.

Along with that, his stories with Keith also show that he has a tendency to blow things out of proportion or exaggerate things greatly for the sake of telling a story, because there is no way that some of the things the two of them have done could be as extreme as he makes them out to be. Ellis is just a dramatic person and likes to tell stories for attention. It rarely ever works out all that well though, considering he picks the worst times to try telling stories- right in the middle of a hoard of zombies, usually. He's often interrupted and asked if it can wait for later. He tends to sound a little pouty, but it's enough to get him to stop and focus back on the task at hand so that he isn't so distracted.

He's also pretty much the embodiment of your stereotypical redneck. He likes guns- boy, does he likes guns. He claims to have learned how to shoot a gun before he could walk and he gets excited every time he finds a hunting rifle in the game. He can be a bit naive at times as well. He's also pretty damn polite, despite his potty mouth, using 'miss' and 'sir' and is generally respectful of most people. He gets along well with everyone on his team, with Rochelle tending to be like a big sister to him, whereas Nick turns out to become a pretty good friend over the course of the game. The two share an affectionately antagonistic relationship, with Ellis making teasing jabs at him on occasion. He treats Coach with respect, too, and the two of them get along really well too, though Coach tends to grow exasperated with him on several occasions.

Ellis isn't always incapable of being serious. It may take a stern talking to, but he can get serious and get on the ball. Despite his goofball attitude, he actually is a fully competent zombie killing machine. The death of any team mate is a major blow to him and he's always upset when it happens, growing somber and quiet and becoming not quite as cheerful as he usually is.

All in all, Ellis is... Ellis. What you see is what you get, and that's a major goofball with a reckless streak and a heart of gold.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
+-Ellis's strengths are just as much his weaknesses; his nerve and recklessness can be both a blessing and a curse. On one hand, it means he isn't afraid of much, but on the other it can also get him into trouble if he isn't careful, or if he doesn't have someone to reign him in. His behaviour can also be seen as annoying, the way he tends to ramble on when things are serious, though he does mean well and he just likes to talk.

+He's good at shooting a wide variety of guns and wielding melee weapons as well.

+He's a mechanic, so he knows a lot about cars and the like.

+He's a very determined person, not stopping for anything. This can also be a bad thing.

-He has a short attention span.

-He can be too trusting.

[For a moment, you can hear the confused murmurs of a guy trying to figure out what the heck this thing in his hands is. With a few choice curse words and some shaking the device, the feed flicks on and you get an up close of his face and his eye.]

Well there we go! Ain't this technological. Okay then. Holy shit! Any ah y'all out there? Ro? Nick? Coach? You ain't never gonna believe what happened! I got...

Wait for it...

[He splits into a grin and a laugh escapes.]

A Pokemon! Look! [He points the gear down towards the ground to reveal a red pig looking Pokemon.] I ain't sure if it's a girl or a boy, but either way I decided to name it Suee. I ever tell you guys about the time me and my buddy Keith went pig wrastlin'? Now, Keith thought he was big and bad enough to take on a whole pen full'a the bastards, but it turns out pigs are a lot stronger than he gave 'em credit for. He was-

[It's about that time that Suee sneezes and a puff of black smoke comes out, cutting Ellis off as he begins coughing and sputtering.]

Shit- Aha, anyway... Did you know 'pparently I'm supposed to breed these things? Got a breeders handbook 'n everything. That sure is weird, but I ain't complainin'! I am gonna breed the best goddamn suckers you ever did see, just you wait!

Third Person Sample:
Pokemon.

Now, Ellis hadn't ever really played any of the more recent games, but that didn't stop him from feeling like a kid in a candy store at the idea of being in the world of Pokemon. It was like an all new and fresh adventure! Without zombies! Man, he'd miss those zombies though. He didn't care what anybody said, the zombie apocalypse was downright cool, even if a lotta people died, and it... could be kinda nightmarish sometimes. How could you not enjoy it though? He didn't know, because he damn sure enjoyed it.

The only thing about being here was he missed his buds. He really hoped wherever they were, Nick, Coach and Rochelle were alright. In hindsight, maybe they were his favorite thing about the zombie apocalypse- there was nothing like spending time killing zombies with your friends. He really did miss them.

But he tried not to dwell on that for too long! Becuase Suee needed him to be in tip top fighting spirits for their new journey. Holy shit, he was gonna go on a Pokemon journey. How exciting was that? Except he had to breed things. He wasn't sure how he was gonna do that, but he'd figure it out somehow. Maybe if he asked Suee for advice. So he laid down on his stomach in front of the pig to stare it right in the eye. "We gotta find you a mate," he said, his tone matter-of-fact. "So you can have lotsa babies and stuff, because that's s'posed to be my job here or somethin'."

Suee cocked it's head. "I ain't got any idea where to find other purtty pigs though. Except, don't tell any other pigs I said this, but I think you're totally the purttiest." Man, he sure hoped it was a girl pig. It seemed like a girl pig. Maybe the way it looked shyly at the ground and kicked dirt was proof of that, because it didn't seem angry at being called pretty. "Aw c'mon now, don't be modest! You're super purtty." He reached out and gave Suee a pat on the head. "They'll be linin' up to have babies with you." He didn't even stop to consider what a weird thing that was to say. He was a breeder after all. That is totally what breeders say, right? Right.

Suee rolled over and let out a shy whine. "You're bein' silly. But alright, if it's that embarrassin' to ya, let's change the subject. You ever considered pro wrestlin'?"

And that was how Ellis spent his first day in Johto; wrestling with his new pig.

Canon Resource Links: Skies of Arcadia on Wikipedia
General game info on Skies of Arcadia wiki
Vyse’s page on Skies of Arcadia Wiki

Personality:
"Impossible is just a word to let people feel good about themselves when they quit." ~ Vyse

The three main facets of Vyse's personality are his optimism, charisma, and honesty, and the above quote is one of the best indicators of just how optimistic this young man is. He truly believes that there are very few, if any, impossible tasks existing in the world, and that anything deemed ‘impossible' clearly hasn't been tried hard enough or done correctly. This is a teenager who, after his father and several close friends are kidnaped and taken to what amounts to a maximum-security prison, makes a plan to go save them, believing he'll get to them and they'll be just fine. He encounters a giant maelstrom thought to be the ‘edge of the world' that thousands of people have failed to sail through, hears stories of those who have failed, and proceeds to sail into it anyway because he wants to see what's on the other side. He gets stranded on a deserted island in the middle of absolutely nowhere after a shipwreck and isn't despondent, angry, or even frustrated. He's simply grateful he's not dead and considers it an unplanned vacation.

All of these endeavors succeed, partly due to sheer luck and partly because Vyse will not give up once he has a plan. This is where his charisma comes in. Most of the things that Vyse accomplishes, he has help of some sort with. He has the ability to rally people of most ages, genders, social statuses, and personalities to his cause just by talking to them and telling them his story. Even people who dislike him or his profession hold a certain amount of respect, admiration, or fascination with him and are willing to aid him. He has also managed to convince an admiral of the strongest navy in the world to leave said navy and take up pirating.

A trait that helps Vyse out immensely in life is his honesty. Along with his charisma, this is what allows him to achieve many of the things he sets out to do, minor or major. He strongly believes that rules exist for a reason and laws are meant to be followed, but is not opposed to bending the rules slightly on a fairly regular basis, as long as nobody gets hurt, and tends to throw rules out the window if people are getting hurt. His solutions to problems tend to skew towards what’s moral or ethically best for everyone. Basically, he likes to make people happy with as little bloodshed as possible.

Vyse is a self-proclaimed gentleman, treating most ladies he meets with the utmost level of politeness and refusing to do such things as rifle through a girl’s underwear drawer. He’s also shown to be slightly uncomfortable when hanging out with a fellow pirate who dislikes the idea of settling down with a single woman for the rest of his life. This may be part of the reason that he attracts so many admirers of both genders, including a set of triplets who threaten to kidnap and marry him if he ever loses to them in a fight and an old man who offers Vyse a large amount of money in exchange for companionship. Unfortunately for everyone, Vyse is both terrible at flirting and not actually looking for any romantic relationships, possibly ever.

So far, most of Vyse's personality has been that of a nice boy, not exactly the personality of a pirate, as is his profession. But as stated before, Vyse believes that rules can be bent in some situations, and he, along with his family, feel that armed merchant ships are one of those situations. He belongs to a faction of pirates called Blue Rogues, which are the ‘good' pirate counterparts to another faction called Black Pirates, the former of which are like Robin Hood in that they will help out unarmed ships being attacked by larger ones or even attack larger ships as long as they're armed and can actually fight back if engaged in battle. Blue Rogues will loot the ships, keep some of the loot for themselves, and give or sell the rest to others who need it. Vyse agrees with and follows this philosophy.

Also in contrast with his ‘nice' personality is that success sometimes goes to his head. If, for example, he successfully wins several fights or receives praise from an unexpected source, he sometimes gets overconfident and has to be told to calm down before he does anything stupid. It also means that he’s not above bragging when the opportunity presents itself--he’s modest most of the time, but sometimes he just can’t help pointing out his achievements. Which actually happens fairly often anyway, due to his optimism telling him he can do anything, prompting him to do things that are viewed as stupid (like breaking into and out of prison, twice).

He’s also constantly looking for excitement and slightly reckless. When he first sets out at the beginning of his adventure, he decides he won’t stop traveling until he sees every part of the world he can possibly see. He’s willing to traverse dangerous terrain to explore whatever he can, and when he’s first introduced, he jumps from the crow’s nest of his family’s ship to the deck of the ship next to them, seemingly uncaring that he could miss the second ship and fall to his death.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
Strengths
- Charisma: As stated in the personality section, most people love Vyse just for being himself.

- Optimism

- Cheerful

- Knowledge of boats: Vyse has literally grown up on and around ships. Granted, they’re airships, but they operate basically the same as sailing ships, they just fly through the air. He’s shown in canon to be able to repair a broken lifeboat, and he could probably build an operable sailing ship if he wanted to.

- Sword fighting expertise: Normally, Vyse fights with a pair of blades, so it can be assumed he’s at least a decent sword fighter. He obviously won’t be allowed said blades in Route, but he certainly still has the skills.

- Loyal: He wouldn’t betray his friends or family for anything.

- Great leadership qualities: There’s a reason he became captain of his own ship at age 17.

- Well-mannered

Weaknesses
- A bit slow: Tends to make similar mistakes multiple times before he catches on.
- Reckless
- Stubborn: As far as giving up is concerned; he’ll push himself until he gets something he wants to get done done.
- Can get overconfident

First Person Sample: [Hello Pokéworld! The audio starts a few seconds before the video, so you get to hear a young man’s voice at first.]

Wow, this is some impressive technology! I wonder what powers it...it’s way too small to fit a stone in anywhere...

[And then the video switches on, showing an attractive young man with a glass eyepatch peering curiously at his gear’s screen.]

I wonder if it’s Valuan. [A pause, and then:] Ahem, sorry. I got carried away.

Hello, my name is Vyse, and I’d like someone listening to this to help me out and tell me what country I landed myself in this time. It’s too bright to be Valua, too large to be Ixa-Taka, and too green to be Glacia...even though there’s snow everywhere. I don’t recognize any of the local landmarks, either.

Oh, and what this little one is. [He turns the screen towards a Meowth nearby, who reaches out to tap her paw against the gear.] She’s tried to steal my eyepatch twice, and keeps following me around. I mean, I don’t have a problem, but...I’m really confused.

Third Person Sample: Cross-country hiking was something that Vyse wasn’t entirely unused to, but definitely not one of his favorite things to do. Not when the end result wasn’t treasure, ancient ruins, or both. Well, maybe the entirely new location could be considered a treasure in and of itself, as there were creatures he’d never seen before, many paths to explore, and new people to talk to. The scenery was a bit confusing, though, because there was snow on the ground, on top of grass and trees. Ixa-Taka was much too warm for snow to form, and the Ice Continent was far too cold for even the toughest plants to thrive.

And there were no moons. Or at least no moons that he could see from where he was standing. That was more odd--even during the daytime he should have been able to see at least one of the moons, pale in comparison to the sun, but still there nonetheless. He’d have to wait until nighttime to check. In the meantime, he made note of the geography--trees, bushes, snowy areas, tall grass--

--Which his companion, who had been making a decent effort at being absolutely everywhere at once, had just run into.

“Aika, careful!”

The Meowth, as he had discovered she was called, didn’t listen, disappearing into the tall grass, and Vyse sighed. The more they were together, the more Vyse felt that Aika resembled the girl she was named after, especially after attempting to shred Vyse’s arms when he tried to remove the coin stuck to her forehead. In his defense, he didn’t know it was actually part of her body.

“...Aika?”

He approached the patch of grass just as a series of screeches emanated from it, and he rushed over, trying to see what was going on. He didn’t know if the noises were coming from her or from something else, but he was about to go in himself when the noises stopped and Aika trotted out, dropping a barely-alive Rattata at his feet, looking proud of herself.

“I, uh...thanks?” he said after a few moments, crouching to scritch at her ears. Was this going to happen often?

Name: Reno
Series: FFVII (Compilation)
Timeline: Post-Advent Children
Canon Resource Links:

Personality: Cocky, flippant, and (mostly) morally bankrupt, Reno is not the type of guy someone would bring home to their mother. In game and in the compilations, his attire (untucked dress shirt, missing tie, goggles/sunglasses, slightly rumpled suit coat) and posture (slouched) speak about his personality quite well. He has a rebellious streak, as noted by the disregard for his uniform and the flashy style of his hair. Having been a part of the Turks for so long (at least 6 years), he's grown used to the horrors of the world and of the people in it, and is rarely ruffled by such things. However, it's likely he'll have a sarcastic remark on hand, no matter the circumstance.

Underneath the caustic surface, Reno's a very driven and ambitious person, even though it's usually overshadowed by his addictions to the simple pleasures in life. Originally applying for the SOLDIER-program, he was picked up by the Department of Administrative Research, where his skills were more likely to go to use. Since then, he's been dedicated to his work to the point that he could technically be termed a workaholic (he is 2nd in command for a reason, and not just because Veld left Tseng in charge). As such, he takes pride in what he does and will almost always do it right the first time. It's quite possible that because of this, his boss tends to overlook the modifications he's made to the standard-issue suit. Because he's working most of the time, he has developed a pretty good rapport with his fellow Turks and has become intensely loyal to them. Mess with them and it's implied he's being messed with as well-- as Don Corneo learned the hard way.

When he isn't dripping sarcasm or blowing things up as per orders, Reno has a very laid-back and darkly humorous attitude, taking things into stride and working with what he has. Considering he quickly puts aside his differences to work with Cloud and co. in AC, he doesn't really have the personality to hold a grudge, either. In a bizarre way, he's rather charming and flirtatious, if one looked past the borderline alcoholism and well, his unsavory job.

Strengths/Weaknesses: His most easily recognized strength is that he's incredibly fast. Not inhumanly so, but he does have an uncanny reaction time. He learns quickly and is able to put newly learned skills to use almost immediately. A sort of workaholic-type personality, he takes his job seriously and can be depended on to do it right. Moreover, he's bizarrely loyal to people he connects with, and will do most anything to keep that trust/loyalty. He's been trained in standard Turk-style, encompassing proficiency in hand-to-hand combat, firearms, explosives, and at least moderate knowledge in computer hacking, torture, survival, and lying.

On the flip side, he has flexible moral compass that most people would consider to be on the evil side of things. The drop of the Sector 7 plate shows his cruel side, or at the very least, his complete apathy. Seemingly, he has no qualms about kidnapping, murdering, or thieving (at least, not after Before Crisis). Those lines in the sand for him are constantly shifting, though considering Rufus has him helping clean up Midgar in post-AC, he's a bit more on the side of rainbows and puppies in this aspect. He's relatively secretive, which can make it difficult to really get to know him. Lastly, he has an addictive personality, and can usually be found either drinking, smoking, whoring, or maybe all three at once.

[muffled tapping sounds, the feed shows the edge of red hair and mostly a ceiling] …Yo, is this thing on?

Seriously, Boss-man, if this is revenge for swapping your coffee for decaf, 'm sorry, jeeze. [Brief pause and a quiet snort, screen still displaying the less interesting parts of a room, this time the upper corner.] Though really, I dunno if this place is even on the map.

I swear, Tseng, if ya sent me t'the Gold Saucer without a cent to m'name… that's not even cool, man. [A hand covers the camera as it's moved, accompanied by soft scratching noises as the device brushes against fabric.]

Whoa! This thing comes programmed with a radio? [Now the speaker is finally in view, expression one of fascinated disbelief as keys are pressed loudly.] Why can't PHS' have cool shit like this?

[The camera is pointed up again, but more at an angle so the redhead's face is still in view. There's a restless shuffling sound in the background.] …Bet Reeve has a hand in this. Just waitin' for that annoying robot cat of his t'show up.

Then again, if that stupid thing shows up, I won't get in as much trouble for shaking it in irritation. Maybe.

Beginning t'think there are higher beings involved in this plot. Rufus, I thought ya were above this, yo. [Grumbling.] Some people, really.

Alright, new theory. Hojo's come back t'wreak havoc and has somehow trapped everyone in a sugary world as a form of torture. If I didn't loathe his existence so much, I'd almost be willing t'commend him.

Third Person Sample:

This place was fuckin' weird.

Alright, maybe that was an understatement, but he didn't really have enough gumption to think about other descriptors at a time like this. For one, he'd woken up in a strange room, fully clothed, and without any indicators that he'd somehow scored at some point. The last thing he remembered was telling Rufus to shove it because the blonde had settled back into being frustrating beyond reasoning. Having been cured of his Geostigma, he was basically back to how he'd been before, just on the side of rainbows and sunshine. Just thinking about it gave him a headache.

Then again, said headache had been slowly building over the course of a few hours. It had leveled out at the point of slightly past just-annoying-enough, but not enough for him to want to sleep it off. There was also the fact that he was in a strange place; he was going to be sleeping very nervously until he got used to it. At the very least, in all of the whirlwind of confusion, irritation, and resignation, he'd managed to acquire a companion of sorts.

According to the PHS-shaped device that had a sweet radio and some other bizarre features, said animal was labeled as a Shinx, a type of "pokemon" that had a serious nature. Whatever the hell that meant. Glancing down at the blue-furred animal, he half-smiled, reminded of that wise dog-thing Cloud had traveled with, Red XIII. Part of him wanted to name it that, just because it was ironic and bizarrely funny. But, instead, he'd settled on Shinxra. It was a terrible pun, and he was sure Tseng was rolling his eyes somewhere.

Though, more importantly, it was a play on Shinra-- having an adorable blue furry creature at his disposal that shared Rufus' last name was intensely amusing.

Character
Name: Norman Babcock
Series: ParaNorman
Timeline: Post-Movie
Canon Resource Links: Here!

Personality: Norman likes being under the radar. He doesn't like sticking out and being noticed. That usually means negative attention on him. His entire modus operandi is to make it through with as little confrontation or social interaction as possible. The unfortunate truth of that is, in his town, blending in is impossible. It's sort of an inescapable reality to a kid born with the gift of speaking to the dead. Ghosts, zombies, you name it. Norman is the ambassador between the physical and spiritual plane. The bad news is that it doesn't make you all that popular in school. Or at home. Or anywhere, really. Alienated by most of his town? Yep. Treated as a troubled child by his family? Check. Fiercely bullied at school? You bet.

However, in spite of that, Norman never treats himself like a victim. He doesn't cry about the way things are. Sure, he laments that he never asked to be born with his gifts but does he try to deny them? Hell no. He knows that he isn't normal and he has no intentions of trying to pretend otherwise. Even if all he wants is to duck his head and get through it the best he can, he doesn't try to change himself to suit others. Unfortunately this attitude has led Norman to becoming a loner. Until recently, he saw no real need to make friends, feeling that once they get to know him, they'd just think he was a freak anyway. As such he's come to be very comfortable on his own, and prefers to just rely on himself.

Of course its a little different when he talks to ghosts. Where Norman shuts himself off to the living, to the dead he's perfectly cheerful and friendly. He goes so far as to help his town ghosts with any little task they might ask of him. He knows this doesn't make his case better for the living, but the bottom line is that he doesn't care. Time and again, Norman's learned to value the company of the dead over the living.

Despite what seems like hostility and distrust, he does cares about other people and he has a strong moral sense of right and wrong. Even people he doesn't even like all that much, he'd never purposely harm, and even go so far to help in a dire situation. Given the opportunity to really show his stuff, Norman can also be very brave and determined, willing to risk his life for what has to be done. His sense of duty is also very strong and once he sets out to do something, he takes it very seriously. Really underneath that anti-social facade he puts up, Norman is just a lonely kid who's had to put up with a lot of pain simply for just being who he is. It speaks a lot, too for the sort of emotional strength that he has for someone so young.

The good news is, that after the events of the film, not only has Norman decided to open up, but the entirety of his town has realized that he wasn't faking for attention all this time. Not to mention he basically saved their asses from a fiery doom via witch curse. While this means he's still pretty introverted, he's less distrusting and hostile to others and willing to talk and even make friends. During his confrontation with Aggie, Norman had to make peace with the part of him that bottled up all his anger and bitterness, realizing that if he held onto it like she had, then he'd eventually lose himself to his hate. By doing so, he'd become nothing better than the one's who've hurt him in the past. It's a hell of a revelation to have at eleven-years-old.

Of course Norman opening up and being friendly should never be mistaken for Norman being a push over. He's stubborn and blunt, and he will tell you when you've done something stupid. He has a sarcastic streak, and can be full of sass when he wants to be- which is often. He'll listen to authority, but when its other people- specifically teenagers or just jerks, he will tell you what for while probably making jabs at your intelligence. ("Oh god, they're gonna eat our brains!!" "I think you'll be fine.") Barring all of that, Norman is a sweet kid who has spent far too long being isolated and lonely.

Strengths/Weaknesses:

Norman has a few paranormal abilities. First and foremost he's a medium. He can see ghosts, which is a trait horrendously rare in his world, and he can communicate with the dead. This isn't limited to just ghosts, as he's able to use the ability to speak with zombies, who otherwise can't properly communicate in spoken English. Linked to this ability, he seems to have a form of retrocognition in which he is privy to events that have happened in the past. This is usually brought about by some impending emergency and is usually ghost related. In the movie it started happening to him because the eve of a three-hundred-year-old curse was upon his town.

For the not so weird stuff, Norman greatest gift is his emotional strength and fortitude. This is a kid who can take a whole lot of social abuse and vitriol, and keep his head held up strong. He doesn't fall into self-pity, he doesn't cry. When something doesn't go his way, he sucks it up and keeps moving. His stubbornness, sense of duty, and outright tenacity usually ensures that no matter the situation, Norman will pull through it.

However, at the same time, Norman has a lot of trouble opening up and socializing with anyone who isn't dead. He's spent a lot of time being alienated from everyone around him that, while he is open to making friends, he's still nervous and even distrustful of most people. He also has quite a sarcastic mouth, and does not back down from calling someone out.

That said, he's also only eleven. He's mature and responsible far beyond his years, but he's still just a kid. He has breaking points, they're just harder to hit than most.

Wow um, so does anyone else think its kind of weird that this place says its okay for a bunch of kids to run around the wilderness?

I guess I'm not complaining, but it just doesn't really seem all that safe. Most places back home had laws about that kind of thing.

Its probably a good thing my mom isn't here, she'd probably have an ulcer.

[There's a pause. Norman is fidgeting a bit. He's not really huge on talking to people, but somehow talking through the pokegear was a little easier.]

Anyway, so um. What are we supposed to do for food here? I'm ...not really that great at camping, or cooking. I'm like, eleven-years-old.

Third Person Sample: So, everything about this shot up red flags in Norman's head. For one thing, he could swear that music was familiar. Like, maybe he'd played a video game with it? It did sort of sound like your every day generic handheld video game music, so maybe that shouldn't have surprised him. What struck him as odd was that he was hearing it at all. Background music wasn't supposed to exist in real life. Right? No one else seemed to be kicking up a fuss over it. Was he just hearing things? He really hoped not.

Second, there was this whole deal of going off on his own to have an adventure completely unsupervised, and at the mercy of this ...strange creature that was with him when he woke up. (Okay, even he had to admit the thing was pretty awesome looking. Like a little ghost monster?? How cool was that?) While Norman normally didn't have a problem running around unsupervised, it was the stranger danger vibes he was getting from all this. (Waking up in some house he'd never seen before with some lady shoving him out the door, didn't help matters at all.)

Third, and this had taken him longer to realize, but he couldn't find any ghosts. None. Absolutely none. The town, the pathways, the forest, all devoid of spiritual life. That was what gave him the chills. What kind of place was this? How could there be no dead? It didn't matter if you had a spick and span, gated suburb, or a cemetery, you always had dead.

He honestly wished he could have blamed this on being one of his spooky visions of the past. However, after three hours of wandering around and nothing horrible jumping out at him, it seemed pretty clear he was standing in the real world- whatever that meant right now. So he was lost, confused, and alone.

"Take the path to the next town," chimed in a ...cheery but quiet voice. It sort of echoed and reminded him of speaking with the dead- only, when Norman looked around all he saw was his pokemon. Okay...

"...Hello?"

"You're supposed to take Route 29 to the next town, everyone knows that."

Norman blinked at the Duskull, which looked back at him plainly as if speaking wasn't all that strange. Norman opened his mouth to speak, and then clamped it shut again, puzzled. Then, it clicked.

Oh. So, maybe he wasn't entirely alone.

Character
Name: Tatara Totsuka
Series: K
Timeline: December 7th, pre-death. On the day of but before his murder as shown in multiple flashbacks. Note: Totsuka's death is shown in the first episode, so I don't consider his death a spoiler!
Canon Resource Links: Wikia!

Personality:
Never usually without a warm smile or a kind word, Totsuka's easygoing and happy-go-lucky nature gives him an enthusiasm that is just so cheerful and contagious that he's been labelled the moodmaker within his group of comrades. Plenty playful, he's been known to prank even the most moodiest of people and also gently troll his friends. In fact, he gets along so swimmingly well with people, strangers and acquaintances both, that it's his duty to welcome and take care of any and all new members while making them feel at home.

It's a gift, you see, he's really good at reading people -- from little things like who's keeping secrets to how well or how badly he'd get along with someone within the first few minutes of meeting and speaking with them. Excellent at reading moods and experienced in diffusing the anxious and difficult ones, he very easily turns and deflects the attention of other people with his charming smile and carefree nature. Even so, he's very aware of where personal boundaries lie and never crosses a line without reason. That said, he's wonderful at fitting in with people by adjusting his attitude and his words so much that his juniors sometimes forget that Totsuka really is older than they are.

No matter the situation or place, he is always optimistic and ready to say those words: "It's okay, it's okay, everything will work out somehow!" He truly believes in that, even all the way back when he was a kid abandoned by his parents, even when his foster mother left his gambling addict of a foster father, even when his foster father's gambling addict left the two of them often without electricity or water ... even when he's badly beaten up and sent to the hospital by thugs just because they thought him connected to someone they hated.

However, there are still plenty times when he comes across as either air-headed, irresponsible or lacking of self-preservation skills.

Pop quiz: When it's obvious somebody is trying to kill you, what should you do?

If you're a certain Totsuka Tatara, you choose (e) make plans to meet up in an isolated location just to speak with them alone.

...Above example aside, he is actually a intelligent and level-headed person! No, really. See, he knew his would-be assassin didn't actually want to kill him; his would-be assassin is also later recruited into their ranks. Tying in with his skill of reading people, you can say Totsuka never does anything without purpose or reason even if it sometimes appears otherwise. Rarely losing his calm serenity and his smile, for all his capriciousness and whims when it comes to his multiple, ever-changing hobbies and passions, Totsuka is a person that everyone can depend on.

Yet, despite his seemingly gentle nature, Totsuka can be ruthless and manipulative should the situation require him to be. When asked to civilly interrogate a guard, he threatens the man with burning multiple holes on that man's body and keeping him alive for as long as required until the information they required is obtained. Of course he complains afterwards about being given the difficult tasks; it's to be expected -- he's not really a fighter at all, but only if the word fighter is used here in its most physical of meanings. Mentally, emotionally, he's as stubborn as they come and never gives up easily.

And while negative emotions such as anger and jealousy don't actually seem to exist inside his dictionary, he is capable of feeling dejection, doubt and guilt but reveals them to the people closest to him only on the rarest of occasions. He's also been called cold-hearted more than once; he didn't cry when his parents abandoned him and didn't cry when his foster father died. In a manner of speaking, he is rather cold-hearted. What an ever-changing interest in absolutely everything and anything means is an indifference in losing everything; flitting from passion to passion, hobby to hobby, there was never a single thing that that Totsuka clung to or felt sad to leave behind because there was always something new taking its place. At least, that's how it was until the day he meets a certain Suoh Mikoto, decides he'd become his vassal and actually sticks to it for a record at eight years since.

Generally a good person if short of a few screws, Totsuka means well and very easily endears himself to people from all walks of life. Amongst his comrades, Totsuka is the heart of the group, willingly giving himself to ensure and support the well-being of everyone important to him.
Strengths/Weaknesses:
+ Insightful & perceptive
+ Intelligent

+ Knowledgeable in general

+/- Strong-willed/Stubborn

[ the voice that comes from this feed is remarkably calm and cheerful for one who has suddenly found themselves in another world: ] Testing, one, two, three... Good morning, Pokémon World! My name is Tatara Totsuka and well, I'm a new arrival here, just like everyone in New Bark Town is.

I have some questions and I'm hoping a kind soul or two will answer them for me-- [ and then he pauses, like an epiphany has just struck him ] -- ah, I know! Let's make this more interesting! If you could just pass one piece of advice, just the one, to yourself back when you first arrived, what would it be?

And what would be a contest without a prize?

[ when did it become a contest, Totsuka ]

The best and other creative answers will get something cooked by yours truly at a time and place of your convenience; I look forward to all of your contest entries!
Third Person Sample:
He hums to himself as he stirs the pot, a new song he's written since his arrival in this foreign world. Too bad he doesn't have a guitar yet, or he'd play it for the rest of the people stuck here to hear. He's saving up for one right now and saving up for not just a guitar but the rest of the interesting things he wants to try that he's only either seen or heard about.

It's a really interesting world, with all kinds of pokémon and so many things to learn and do. Not that back home wasn't interesting, with his ever-changing hobbies, with the ever-changing sights and with the never-changing HOMRA. He stops for a moment, pausing thoughtfully until someone tugs at clothes.

The charmander. His charmander, apparently. His 'starter pokémon'. It peers upwards at him, sparkly and puppy-eyed with just the slighest hint of impatience. "Haah," Tatara breathes out, mildly amused, "it's nearly done. Just wait a little longer, okay?"

Or, he thinks it is. It's a guess he makes from his past experiments in cooking, even if cooking pokémon food is an entirely new area and one he had only just started foraying into weeks ago when he first arrived. The idea to mix a lot of ingredients along with the basic pokémon food was fresher and more recent; from the smell of the mixture inside the pot, it seems like a success, just as he thought it'd be.

Scooping a little up, he test tastes it before offering it to the charmander, watching as it eagerly scoffs the food down and then clamours for more. "Easy, easy~" Tatara tells it as he turns the cooking fire off and reaches for a plate. As he sets it down, he playfully adds, "Bon appétit."

Watching the charmander eat eagerly, Tatara decides cooking is still a hobby he can't give up.

Character
Name: Mikoto Suoh (first, last).
Series: K Project.
Timeline: Episode 10.
Canon Resource Links: K-Project & Mikoto Suoh @ K-Project Wikia.

Personality:
First impressions are important, and Mikoto doesn't make the best of them. There's a definite comfort-to-discomfort ratio to Mikoto's actions, in that he'll almost always take the path of least resistance. Giving two fucks about the company and opinions of (other) people rank a little low on his list, and the energy and attention span that most social interactions require are things he can't be bothered to spare on a good day. Said apathy is well-reflected in his stilted style of conversation, as these, when they actually exist, tend to be composed of sixty percent noises of agreement, amusement, and who-gives-a-damn while the remaining forty percent are of half-sentences and clipped words. Compounded by the drowsy baritone of his voice, he's fairly consistent as far as first impressions go: taciturn and disinterested, regularly offering less than what he's been given. Small talk and pleasantries are not beyond him, but they tend to have about a half-life of about five seconds with a little bit of luck. Tact is for punks, and it goes without saying that he's not one to mince his (few) words by beating around the bush when he can just burn the damn thing down. Thankfully(?), nonverbal communication is a bit of a saving grace. It's an overused metaphor, but it's (unfortunately) accurate to compare Mikoto to a sleepy cat. Sleepy, not sleeping. Devil's in the detail, and it's important to note that sleepy does not always equate unaware. Lazy does not equate mental deficiency. There is wit there, buried under the lethargy, sharp and smart-assed when he can be bothered to respond in such a manner.

Despite appearing almost stoic and unresponsive, Mikoto has also been described as ill-tempered and volatile, his posse as violent. They're not wrong; he has spectacular temper, but it's one you really have to work to bring up to its boiling point. On the other hand, Mikoto wears irritation as a near-kneejerk reaction, lightning quick in both trigger and cool-down, the latter if only 'cause Mikoto never sticks around long enough to deal with the irritant of the hour. So what happens when he does get angry? Truly angry? Easy: he reacts. Bites back with spectacular, horrible fervor. Leaving a hunt half-finished seems to be of a physical impossibility for Mikoto, as is pulling punches. Stepping into his domain with an intent to destroy is met by teeth to the jugular. Handing out warnings is a formality that he'd much rather skip so that he can to go directly onto signing off your execution. Case in point: Mikoto's actions in the entirety of K Project is based around the murder of one of his vassals by the Colorless King. An eye for an eye? Hardly. He'll be taking your whole goddamn head. He won't let the prey escape, and he definitely won't be sharing it either, consequences be damned. Mulish doesn't even begin to cover his brand of conviction.

Pretty easy, right? Let's flip the coin then. Here are some other phrases that Mikoto has been described by: warm, in possession of the prettiest red, a protector not a destroyer, the best King.

Excuse me, what?

Ultimately, it could be said that Mikoto is in posession of a disgustingly straightforward example of the us-vs-them mentality. While Mikoto is not nurturing in any sense of the word, if you're an accepted member of his territory, into HOMRA, you're probably starting to humor the crazy idea that you might be someone that matters. And you would be right. Though the arm's length distance between you and Mikoto may never fade, reinforced daily by Mikoto's unresponsive nature, you're someone worth protecting if you're one of his. Your well-being becomes part of his best interests as he's motivated by nothing more than his natural inclinations to protect his own. We only need to look inward for evidence of this claim, where Mikoto keeps the Red Aura (and as a result, himself) tightly reigned so that it may not hurt the people that belongs to the 'us' category. Think of it like this — holding back the Red Aura's penchant for consuming and destroying all within its reach is like holding the potential energy of an atomic bomb bottled up inside. There are going to be consequences by doing such a thing. Bad ones. All of these factors come together and blow apart when Mikoto responds to Totsuka Tatara's murder in his typically destructive fashion, where the built-up stress of holding back the Red Aura plus the act of killing another King can only lead to a single conclusion: his own death. And yet, despite knowing that this will kill him, Mikoto doesn't stop, won't stop. He's failed to protect someone that he's taken under his wing, and so it's more important to him to pay that blood-debt back in full interest. He doesn't compromise even when the subject of compromise is his life, and that's a flaw and a strength both. It also makes him selfish, no? Ah well, he's not a saint, and never wants to be. (It'd be too much of a pain.)

And so on the surface, Suoh Mikoto is a bomb with no set radius. On closer inspection, he's more of a gun (a bazooka) with a slightly damaged safety, targeting (possible) threats with unwavering intensity. Mikoto may be a thug, but he's a thug with heart. He's blunt to the point of rudeness, adheres to few (if any) rules of social interaction. His outer demeanor is sandpaper rough and can be horribly flawed in his refusal to change and compromise and adapt, but he also cares with an intensity that manifests as fierce protectiveness over those that he considers as 'his'. He's human as much as he is King, a title that he accepts and simultaneously denies with no small amount of irony and oftentimes self-deprecation. But if the words of his comrades are anything to go by? He does alright.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
( + ) Accepting. Otherwise known as having a 'big heart' (Kamamoto, episode 13).
( + ) Charismatic. (Apparently.)
( + ) Physical strength. Even without his Red Aura, Mikoto knows how to handle himself. Call it experience.
( + ) Protective. Goes without saying.
( + ) Warm. Told to him by a little girl so it must be true.

( +/- ) Uncompromising. Sometimes, it's good to be King. (Hah.)

( - ) Antisocial and apathetic, mostly stemming from the fact that he's disinterested in a lot of things.
( - ) Lazy to the point of pathological. His napping habits would put a narcoleptic to shame.
( - ) Irritable. Hair-trigger thin.
( - ) Uncommunicative.
( - ) Violent. Not always, but certainly capable of it.

[ The feed starts off with static, followed shortly by the closest pin-up of grass that you'll ever want to see in your lifetime. It's shaky, as though it's being held up by a toddler. Or something even less coordinated.

From the side, there's a long, drawn-out exhale — 'haaah'. Not quite long-suffering in nature, but one that easily communicates that this person has no intention of helping the video come back into focus. ]

Don't want it.

[ The video shakes back and forth, left to right to left; a clear disagreement. It turns and shuffles closer to what can now be seen as a visible outline of a body. White t-shirt, a black furred-jacket and jeans. The face isn't within the camera's range.

That little detail might escape your notice though, 'cause the camera is now being nudged up against the t-shirt again and again and again. One more time for good measure and— ]

—Mm? Still here? [ Another nudge. ] ... Hah. Fine.

[ A hand appears to wrestle the camera away, and it's now being pointed at a — Cyndaquil? ]

Name's Manju. He's up for adoption. [ There's an alarmed cry from the Cyndaquil, and it's now flailing to try and grab the camera back, but its efforts are futile. The voice continues on in its bored baritone: ] So. Any takers?

Third Person Sample:
His Manju the Cyndaquil was in the middle of hammering itself (himself?) into a fucking caterpillar (called Caterpie, of course—) when Mikoto realized what it was that he was feeling. Irritation (hands up if you're surprised) and amusement. At the same time. An interesting mixture, if not a little hilarious, novel enough that it was keeping his attention reasonably focused on the proceedings on hand.

A battle, they call it. A pokemon battle. Which was an exaggeration, surely. It looked more like a playground brawl than anything else.

It was all flailing limbs and ridiculous cries, his animal beating up another animal by taking turns in tackling each other. Mikoto expected a little more out of his battles, a bit more flying blood, damaged egos, stakes set on high. What he was watching was like watching a Sunday cartoon, sleepy-eyed and resolutely ignoring his life choices with Anna seated next to him on the couch. On livelier days, the whole of HOMRA would join in to commence an hour-long commentary on the ongoing conflicts in their chosen cartoon. Izumo would eventually kick them out though, and Totsuka would—

(Screech pause. Quietly rumble out a growl. Eventually let himself a scowl because the only witnesses around were Manju, who only spoke in broken syllables of cynda— cyndaquiiil! and that bug, which just kind of... crooned.)

—Totsuka would help the process along by luring them all down with the promises of food. There was no better methods of herding an unruly gang of misfits than by their stomachs, after all.

Never one to express his irritation as anything less subtle a heavy punch to the face, Mikoto let himself unwind with a noisy exhale. He let it go as he let most trivialities go, directing his energies into noticing how— Manju was looking at him—?

A short staring contest later, Manju began fidgeting. Vibrating, more like. "What," Mikoto said, growled.

Manju nodded its (his?) long nose-muzzle-what-the-fuck-ever at the caterpillar. Oh, was it dead?

... Did the thing expect a praise? 'Good job, you beat up a bug more than two times smaller than you'. Right.

"Let's go then," Mikoto said instead, letting amusement soothe aside the rest of his his irritation as he walked past his pet (partner animal? punching bag?), listening to its indignant cries behind him.
