Applications will be normally checked during the weekend following the first and third Sunday of each month unless otherwise stated, and we will allow one application per person during one application cycle. Remember, the most characters one player can have at a time is currently set at five.

Applications received after 11:59 PM EST on Saturday of the first and third weekend of each month will be checked the following app weekend unless otherwise stated.

We now ask that potential applicants post their application in comments rather than linking. If their application contains explicit references to 'hard' spoilers (character death, unforeseen plot twists, big reveals, he was evil all along etc), players should put the application in their own journal or their character's journal and link it, making sure to mention the presence of spoilers within. Before we make our final decision on your application, we would like a revised personality section, as the one provided only seems to cover some aspects of her personality. While it touches on her sympathy and her rough attitude, but it doesn't explain her motive for being a medical-nin or even her wish to think of people as people rather than war tools, or some of the other aspects of her personality that she doesn't show on the surface. We'd like an elaboration that includes more of her key points and describes her more personal or hidden side. You will have one week to complete these requests before the character is available again.

I think I covered it all this time. I think. I apologize for the length in advance.

Amongst most of the kunoichi of the series, Tsunade tends to be one of the most complicated in regards to her motivations and personality. In the beginning when she was younger she was shown as being a rather rough child but overall with a good heart and quick to pick up on things. In particular, one of the things shown that she picked up at a very young age was her habit and love of gambling from her grandfather Hashirama. What we also see is the reason she was given the nickname of hime-chan or princess as it were, mostly influenced due to Hashirama spoiling her like one would do with their favorite grandchild (and the only female from what can be assumed). Even into the present day it carries over into her attitude, seeming to hold herself at a higher caliber than most, thinking that she’s the final word in whatever argument or situation and not particularly happy when someone disagrees with it. The gambling habit also carries over as well as her being absolutely rough about things, tact not something she tends to use unless in a sensitive political situation. Even then she tends to exude a powerful presence to try and get others to back down and agree with her or bend to her will entirely if necessary. Back onto the gambling part, this continues to tie into her actions as she becomes known as the Legendary Sucker for being awful at gambling itself unless something bad is going to happen, in which case she’ll win and everyone else is in some big trouble. Though this seems to have calmed down at least a bit in the present.

This doesn’t mean she doesn’t have a softer side, it just… tends to manifest in different ways. Ever since she began training as a shinobi she has been gifted and interested in the medical arts as well as gifted in the strength department of things as well. Luckily these were things she was able to cultivate in her training as a genin and beyond, working on her chakra control as well as being the one to take care of her injured teammates if it became something necessary. A team that she grew close to as most really would, even if her relationships with them had turbulent times and trouble more than most would. Though this didn’t really help much with her temper, it becoming worse and more dangerous during the days, particularly growing an annoyance towards the perverted types of characters due to one teammate in particular. Needless to say it’s a bit of a problem when one ends up punching someone so hard for peeping that their bones are pretty much all broken.

She and her teammates went through a particular war during their time, sent to deal with a shinobi named Hanzo and, despite the troubles there, managed to defeat him and gain the titles of Sannin or Legendary Shinobi depending on the translation. Sometime before the end of the war (exact time frame is unknown, since the series is ridiculous with timelines) Tsunade had given her little brother Nawaki the crystal necklace she had worn and her grandfather had worn as a birthday present, unfortunately he was killed in action the day after it, prompting Tsunade to put forth the idea of all teams having a medic-nin on them. She’s turned down and this leads her to meeting Dan who she eventually begins dating but while on mission ends up getting harmed and dies despite Tsunade’s attempts to heal him. In turn this causes her to leave the village and have contempt towards the position of Hokage while also developing a fear of blood that hangs around until much later.

That much later part ends up with Tsunade witnessing Naruto’s strength of will and determination in protecting her while being in a position to harm himself, yet still managing to get through. It’s because of this and his believing in the village ideals that somehow rids her of her fear (it’s… honestly not really mentioned as to how exactly, but the assumption is overcoming it by willpower and not blaming herself for those deaths) as well as encouraging her to take on the position of Hokage and return to the village once more.

During this time period we begin to see more of Tsunade’s less obvious personality, that she does sincerely seem to care about the village and the people she is sworn to protect. This is shown in multiple different ways, from the smallest things of putting aside her own wants and needs to adhere to her medical code to heal an almost impossible case of Lee (he pretty much broke parts of his spine) as well as insuring a medic-nin or someone with the training is on each team that she can. She also shows genuine concern over the problems of the people, doing her best to make sure the problem is solved or that there’s some way to get around it in some manner.

One of the more interesting things, as well, is her actually taking time to train Sakura for years in order to become a competent and powerful kunoichi as well as medic-nin. During this training she shows she’s absolutely no-nonsense and while being tough on her is genuinely doing it for her benefit and would never actually seriously injure her. Even when the training is done Tsunade takes an interest in her, correcting things that need to be corrected and encouraging good habits and behavior. It really does show that underneath the gruff exterior is someone that does care for others.

One of the other big personality things we see comes back around to the caring side and self-sacrificing on top of it all. When Pein/Pain (I’ll be using Pein for the majority, but either version is correct) attacks the village Tsunade is almost immediately out there, healing all the villagers which overextends her to the point of using all of her chakra but does in fact end up healing the village and keeping everyone safe via that as well as using Katsuyu to get a hold of the people Tsunade can’t get to herself. Though this… sort of puts her in a coma, to be quite fair.
