APPLICATIONS!
Currently: Closed!
Route 29 has closed as of May 30th. For the continuation of the game, please visit [community profile] victory_road!

Applications will be normally checked during the weekend following the first and third Sunday of each month unless otherwise stated, and we will allow one application per person during one application cycle. Remember, the most characters one player can have at a time is currently set at five.

Applications received after 11:59 PM EST on Saturday of the first and third weekend of each month will be checked the following app weekend unless otherwise stated.

We now ask that potential applicants post their application in comments rather than linking. If their application contains explicit references to 'hard' spoilers (character death, unforeseen plot twists, big reveals, he was evil all along etc), players should put the application in their own journal or their character's journal and link it, making sure to mention the presence of spoilers within. For further clarification on our spoilers policy and whether or not your application needs to be linked, please check this page. Thank you for your cooperation!

The comment character limit on dreamwidth is 16,000 characters so apps no longer need to be split into multiple comments; however this is at players' discretion.

Please use the form below and post your application in comments rather than linking if you can. If you have any questions, feel free to ask either of the mods. You can reach us through emails, IMs, or PMs.

A reminder for those waiting to hear back, please don't be worried if we skip yours while going through them. It only means we needed a little more time to research!

Revisions are below!

Personality: Akari starts the series as a very nervous, jittery girl. She doesn't really see anything special about herself - she's just a normal girl living a normal life. This changed for her after seeing a Christmas special where Hoshimiya Ichigo goes out and cuts down a Christmas tree for one of her classmates. That triggered something special in Akari's heart - the desire to make people smile, and make them feel better. Akari starts small, helping a classmate on the playground, but that spark stays with her.

Akari then goes a little too far in her goal of being a person like Ichigo. She goes so far as to imitate her idol's hairstyle and mannerisms, to the point of accidentally introducing herself as 'Hoshimiya Ichigo' during her second audition for Starlight Academy. This goes on until she has a heart-to-heart talk, where she's told that copying someone won't be enough. Akari needs to find the light inside her, so she can become the person she really wants to be. It's not enough to be a good idol, she needs to be a good person.

That sparks a change in her. She's always been cheerful and upbeat, but she finds her determination at this point. She realizes that she's at her own starting line, and that she has it in her to change. This is when she starts to get over her nervousness and become more confident. She starts making friends much more easily. Once Akari is a person's friend, she's going to support that person wholeheartedly. She does smaller things for her friends, like leaving supportive notes or cheering them on at auditions, but she'll also go to great lengths to support a friend, like running all over town trying to track down an important person for them. It doesn't matter how busy she is - if a friend needs her, she'll be there.

Akari is a very hard-working girl. She knows that the only way to become the person she wants to be is to work hard, and she's not afraid of doing this. Sometimes this makes her seem like a workaholic, but once she starts working for a goal, she refuses to give up on it. If it means extra practice or extra lessons, those are fine with her. She also appreciates others' hard work, complimenting them and encouraging them to keep moving forward.

Akari is also very determined, and that's shown early on - she fails her first audition at Starlight Academy, but she takes a tearful selfie, promising herself that she would make it in one day. When she makes it, she becomes determined to be the best she can be. Her determination and her hard work make her appreciate her achievements more. She doesn't want to forget the experiences that shape her as an idol and as a person. She appreciates those achievements for what they are, and appreciates the failures she's had on the way to making them. This doesn't make her arrogant, though - she knows that there's always another goal to reach, and she's going to greet those challenges with a smile.

First-person sample:

[When the feed starts, it shows a smiling girl, waving at the camera. If you look closely, it's clear that she's a little nervous, but she's doing her best to stay positive.]

Hello, everyone. I'm Oozora Akari, and this is Ozorotter-kun. It's good to meet you all.

[She pans the camera down, and the Oshawott waves its scallop shell. When she pans the camera back up, she waves.]

I just arrived here from Tokyo, and while I'm a little worried, I know things will work out in the end.

[She nods emphatically. Even if she's not sure she believes it in the moment, she's going to tell herself that it's true until it becomes that way.]

But I have a few questions, if that's all right? First of all, that lady in the house calling herself 'Mom' - she's okay, right? I know she's not my real mom, she's back in Tokyo, but I'm a little worried.

That kinda leads into the next question. I know it's probably one that's asked a lot, but...how long do people usually stay here? I don't want to miss school, and I have a lot of things scheduled since I was crowned Starlight Queen. I'm an idol back home, and that means things are pretty much always busy, but things got even more busy, if you can believe that.

[She gives the camera a bashful smile.]

I probably sound like I'm bragging, and I'm sorry. So! Second, is anyone from Starlight Academy, Dream Academy, or any of the other idol schools here? If so, we should probably talk.

This last question is going to sound a little weird, but...

[Akari laughs.]

I'm wondering if the television or radio stations have programs I can audition for. I have acting and singing experience, and I was a weather girl back home! Please let me know, and thank you.

[She bows.]

I'll be using this journal! As a note, my internet is out, so it may be a day or two before I get everything filled out. So sorry!
