APPLICATIONS!
Currently: Closed!
Route 29 has closed as of May 30th. For the continuation of the game, please visit [community profile] victory_road!

Applications will be normally checked during the weekend following the first and third Sunday of each month unless otherwise stated, and we will allow one application per person during one application cycle. Remember, the most characters one player can have at a time is currently set at five.

Applications received after 11:59 PM EST on Saturday of the first and third weekend of each month will be checked the following app weekend unless otherwise stated.

We now ask that potential applicants post their application in comments rather than linking. If their application contains explicit references to 'hard' spoilers (character death, unforeseen plot twists, big reveals, he was evil all along etc), players should put the application in their own journal or their character's journal and link it, making sure to mention the presence of spoilers within. For further clarification on our spoilers policy and whether or not your application needs to be linked, please check this page. Thank you for your cooperation!

The comment character limit on dreamwidth is 16,000 characters so apps no longer need to be split into multiple comments; however this is at players' discretion.

Please use the form below and post your application in comments rather than linking if you can. If you have any questions, feel free to ask either of the mods. You can reach us through emails, IMs, or PMs.

A reminder for those waiting to hear back, please don't be worried if we skip yours while going through them. It only means we needed a little more time to research!

Helpful links!

Word Count Tool!

Okay let's try this again.

+Optimistic—one of Jade's most quoted lines from canon is "there is still something worth fighting for!" and in a hopeless game like SBURB, Jade's tendency to look on the bright side of things makes her a strong player. There's nothing more intimidating than a girl that doesn't lose hope readily.
+Intelligent--Jade's stated to "dabble" in nuclear physics (though that is generally not a topic a teenager would dabble in) and has come up with many different solutions to problems found while playing the game. She also assisted in building Liv Tyler the robobunny, though she insisted Jake was the one more familiar with robotics.
+Open-minded--You kind of have to be in order to come up with a lot of different solutions, Jade has shown repeatedly that she's willing to accept things even outside of the boundaries of "normal" in and outside of the game. She's also shown a willingness to accept people that have been terrible to her in the past, as long as they own up to it and apologize (as Karkat did) and even be kind to strange and even scary-looking creatures like Calliope, just to be sure they're comfortable.
+Friendly--Call it a result of growing up alone or excessive naiveté (it's not the latter at all), but Jade is friendly to most people she meets and generally has a smile and an upbeat attitude towards them. Even people who end up annoying her later on are treated with kindness and patience (until they run it thin.) She herself has stated that her crosshairs will never rest on an innocent creature.
+Courageous--This is to be expected of a "hero of [blank]" of course, but Jade in particular has frequently shown that she's willing to fight and put her life on the line to help others. The first and most prominent example of this was her actually sacrificing the life of her dream self so John's dream self would wake up and not die.
+Independent--This is also to be expected of a kid that grew up alone, though Jade still talks like her grandfather is actively speaking to her (she knows very well he isn't). Jade still takes care of herself, feeds Bec, maintains her island home, and keeps up an active social life (albeit online) and various hobbies. She even grows her own food in her greenhouse and takes the precautions to protect herself from any of the dangerous beasts the island might have.
+Loyal--Like a dog, right? Once someone has proven that they're worthy of it, Jade regards this person as a friend and will stick up for them as best as she can. The three other human kids are the most prominent examples, though even for people who have hurt her feelings (not frequently harassed her as the trolls did, just hurt) she still defends with all her might.

-Headstrong--Though Jade is willing to forgive people that own up to what they did wrong, it…doesn't mean it comes easily. She can hold a grudge against people she doesn't like for a while and will be intentionally crass with them (all the "password" diversions with Karkat when he was trying to speak to her come to mind). Beside this, once Jade has decided on something, she won't back out of it—even if it's detrimental to her own safety and even if said decision might upset her friends.
-Temperamental--Just because Jade's friendly doesn't mean she's sunshine and happiness all the time, she has a limit and when it's reached she can respond with violence or very harsh words (sometimes both). Again, her interactions with the trolls comes to mind, but also another example is against her prototyped dreamself, quickly losing patience with how she was so willing to just lay down and let everyone die. This feeds into the next weakness—
-Self-critical--Jade doesn't hate herself or have low self-esteem, but she holds herself to very high standards and isn't tolerant of any perceived "weakness" in herself. That's not the way it goes, that's not the way it should be, she needs to be strong and good for the sake of her friends and helping everyone. Her completely losing it on Jadesprite and even going to far as to repeatedly slap her across the face is the most prominent example of this—since Jadesprite is literally a version of herself and seeing it…mirrored wasn't good for this.
-Self-sacrificial--Just because she was willing to heroically die to save John's dreamself doesn't mean it's a good thing overall. Jade's behavior tends to be putting everyone else's needs above her own, even at her detriment by default, this hasn't changed even in the years since starting the game--she puts herself directly in a dangerous spot just to assist Jake and Jane as the most recent example.
-Scatterbrained--Jade usually has a lot on her mind and forgets many things; hence the need for her colorful reminder ties on her fingers. Since she does a lot of planning, has been awake in Prospit for a while and tried to remember the visions she witnessed in the clouds, and has to keep many things maintained in her waking life, her mind is a cluttered cabinet of stuff.
-Secretive--There was the hint that Jade knew more than she let on for a while, again because of her being awake in Prospit, but she just wrote it off as a "trust me, it will become clear soon" kind of thing. In the same token, Jade has a tendency to pretend everything is all right with her and not share any hurt feelings or worries she might have, even if it comes back to bite her later in many different forms.
