Applications will be normally checked during the weekend following the first and third Sunday of each month unless otherwise stated, and we will allow one application per person during one application cycle. Remember, the most characters one player can have at a time is currently set at five.

Applications received after 11:59 PM EST on Saturday of the first and third weekend of each month will be checked the following app weekend unless otherwise stated.

We now ask that potential applicants post their application in comments rather than linking. If their application contains explicit references to 'hard' spoilers (character death, unforeseen plot twists, big reveals, he was evil all along etc), players should put the application in their own journal or their character's journal and link it, making sure to mention the presence of spoilers within. For further clarification on our spoilers policy and whether or not your application needs to be linked, please check this page. Thank you for your cooperation!

The comment character limit on dreamwidth is 16,000 characters so apps no longer need to be split into multiple comments; however this is at players' discretion.

Starter: What starter pokémon do you want your character to have? Please use the list linked above to choose from. Certain pokémon have an orange star next to their names; if you choose one of these starters (Deino, Zorua, Litwick, Pikachu, Scyther, Dratini, Bagon, Gible, Axew, Ralts, Riolu, Beldum, Larvitar, Eevee, or Beldum) you must provide reasoning. You do not need to explain your reasoning for pokémon other than those listed above.
Password: This is where you'll put the passwords from the Rules and the F.A.Q. There are two words, to assure you've read both.

Samples
First Person Sample: The sample must take place in Route_29's setting. Eight sentences is the minimum. This is a PokéConnect post--one that will be on the character's journal, broadcast to the network. Although it is short, it needs to show how your character would communicate with others, as well as be descriptive enough to express the character's voice without sounding too generic.

Third Person Sample: The sample must take place in Route_29's setting. The minimum is 300 words. Please note that what we are looking for is an inner working into the character’s thoughts and actions, and how the character responds to the setting, not something that could be taken as an excerpt fanfic. You may use other characters to bounce your characters actions off of, but everything should still be mostly from their point of view.

First Person Sample: [The screen pops up and there’s a young man sitting with a journal in front of him. He seems to be leafing through it quite quickly, mumbling to himself about how this place doesn’t feel right. A Mareep is seen dozing off beside him, and doesn’t seem to mind the noise emitted by its trainer. It does jump and give off sparks when the book is slammed shut.]

There’s nothing in the journal about cats with big eyes who seems to want to steal your soul...

[The battered journal is replaced by a newer journal, and out comes a pen as the boy scribbles things onto a blank page.]

The PokéDex called it and Espurr… Didn’t say anything about its magical properties, or why it won’t blink. Wait… what if it waits to blink until I blink? That’d make sense… I have no way to prove this unless I record it.

[Cue Dipper looking at the gear with a sudden look of panic.]

No! Give that back, you weird cat!

[The gear is shuffled, then dropped, which turns it off.]

Third Person Sample:
Dipper had no idea why the lady in that strange little town had called herself his mother. As far as he knew, his mom was back in Piedmont, California. And she didn’t look anything like his mother. This was his first cause of suspicion since waking up. The town was another tipoff. This certainly wasn’t Gravity Falls, or even looked like Oregon for that matter. The professor seemed to be more of a quack than a man with an actual doctorate in anything. Last straw was the sheep.

The sheep that electrocuted him and now wouldn’t stop following him. What did it want from Dipper? Was it sent here to test his resolve? Was this Bill’s doing? All he did was go to bed after promising Mabel they would never fight like Stan and Ford did.

“This has got to be a dream. I can’t pinch myself awake… no, Bill would have thought of that. Besides, being shocked didn’t wake me up. Hmm…” Mabel would love a place like this. Thinking of his sister made him both happy and sad. Happy that she would find a silver lining to this place and absolutely love the sheep beside him. Sad, because she wasn’t here… they were never this far apart for so long. Twins weren’t supposed to separate for extended periods of time, no matter how different they were… right? Dipper didn’t want to end up like his grunkles, torn apart for decades. But now was not the time to dwell on what he wanted!

The sheep, which the gear he held called a Mareep, just watched its trainer with big eyes. Did he want to be shocked again? Dipper shook his head after a little while of deep thought. “No. There’s gotta be a way out of this place.” Hadn’t that professor told him that the Mareep was his companion in this adventure? If it was an adventure he was supposed to have, it was an adventure he would have.

“Alright, sheep. You might look like an innocent Lamby, but you’ve got the makings of a destroyer.” Mareep just watched its trainer even more intently than before. So its name was Lamby… it could live with that. It bleated softly after that introspection, doing its best to keep up with its trainer walking ahead. “First stop is a store! I need a new journal. There’s gotta be some mysteries that help me get back home here. I’ve got to get back to Mabel and the others!”

Before we make our final decision on your application, we would like a revised strengths/weaknesses section for Dipper. We feel the section as it stands is sparse, where we would prefer to see at least a brief overview of those strengths and weaknesses and how they manifest for the character in that section itself. We also feel that some of the traits are repetitive, leaving the section somewhat short. Thus, we would like to see this section more fleshed out, so as to provide some elaboration on the distinct and unique strengths and weaknesses that demonstrate Dipper's character in his own right. You will have one week to complete these requests before the character is available again.

Strengths

Detective Skills - Using his intelligence and resourcefulness, Dipper can solve any case he puts his mind to. Nothing is too mysterious, nothing is too dangerous, and if he can't solve it, it might be something he needs help with.

Born-adventurer - This boy can't sit still, always wanting to go find new things or explore what others have in order to see if there might be something they missed. Even if it gets him in trouble, Dipper will go for it.

Family and Friends - His strength in the end comes from them, especially his sister Mabel. Even if it doesn't seem like it at times, he knows they have his back.

Monster Hunting - Dipper is good at finding things that don't want to be found. Always prepared (or at lest in his mind he is), he goes after creatures big and small, deadly or cuddly, in order to find out the truth about them.

Paranoia - The journal warned him to Trust No One. Dipper will be wary of anything that he thinks might pose a danger to him, being almost secretive at times about what he's up to so no one will get in his way or try to stop him. Mabel seems to be the only one he can confide in on a regular basis.

Uncertainty - If he's faced with something he doesn't know or the journal doesn't cover, Dipper will approach it with caution until he finds out what or who the creature or person in question is. And item will face even more caution since it can't interact directly with him unless it's cursed or possessed.

Temper - Dipper hates being called adorable, people messing with his sister, and people underestimating him, among other things. He reacts to these things with different levels of anger, the first stage being frustration, the highest level pretty much him attacking whoever/whatever is causing his anger.
