Applications will be normally checked during the weekend following the first and third Sunday of each month unless otherwise stated, and we will allow one application per person during one application cycle. Remember, the most characters one player can have at a time is currently set at five.

Applications received after 11:59 PM EST on Saturday of the first and third weekend of each month will be checked the following app weekend unless otherwise stated.

We now ask that potential applicants post their application in comments rather than linking. If their application contains explicit references to 'hard' spoilers (character death, unforeseen plot twists, big reveals, he was evil all along etc), players should put the application in their own journal or their character's journal and link it, making sure to mention the presence of spoilers within. For further clarification on our spoilers policy and whether or not your application needs to be linked, please check this page. Thank you for your cooperation!

The comment character limit on dreamwidth is 16,000 characters so apps no longer need to be split into multiple comments; however this is at players' discretion.

There are two words, to assure you've read both. <b><u>Samples</u></b> <b>First Person Sample:</b> The sample must take place in Route_29's setting. Eight sentences is the minimum. This is a PokéConnect post--one that will be on the character's journal, broadcast to the network. Although it is short, it needs to show how your character would communicate with others, as well as be descriptive enough to express the character's voice without sounding too generic. <b>Third Person Sample:</b> The sample must take place in Route_29's setting. The minimum is 300 words. Please note that what we are looking for is an inner working into the character’s thoughts and actions, and how the character responds to the setting, not something that could be taken as an excerpt fanfic. You may use other characters to bounce your characters actions off of, but everything should still be mostly from their point of view.

Fang begins the series as a wildcard. She appears to be working for the enemy, though she is clearly branded as a l’Cie. At first her motives are murky and hard to decipher, but after she joins up with Lightning and company, it becomes clear that her one and only focus (not to be misconstrued as her l’Cie Focus) is Vanille. She is willing to do what it takes - even going so far as to infiltrate the enemy’s ranks - to find her sister again and ensure they survive whatever is to come. Her loyalty and bravery in said pursuit are only matched by Lightning in her pursuit of Serah.

One might wonder why Fang is so hell-bent on seeing to Vanille’s safety, but all it takes is a quick glance at her past to understand. Both girls were orphaned at young ages on Gran Pulse by Cocoon l’Cie and fal’Cie. The War of Transgression left a huge impression on Fang in particular. She agreed to become Anima’s l’Cie in order to get close to the fal’Cie. Once she was within the fal’Cie’s presence, she lost her temper. It was only thanks to Vanille that her life was spared, but the pair came out of the ordeal branded and burdened with a Focus. Said Focus led to Fang, alone, becoming Ragnarok in order to crack Cocoon’s shell (because Vanille feared the transformation).

If it hadn’t been for Etro intervening and taking pity on them, they may have succeeded in their task. Therefore it is perhaps unsurprising that Fang values Vanille above all others. The girl begged for her life before the Oerban Priests, joined her willingly in completing a Focus and doesn’t hate or fear her after she became Ragnarok.

Fang doesn’t give herself the same credit, however. She feels immensely guilty over her past actions and she hates herself for making so many bull-headed mistakes. When the first game begins, she is already beginning to atone for her errors, but Lightning and the rest of her companions help give her a new tether to life. She fights side by side with them without a second thought and, slowly, comes to care about them.

Once her loyalty is given, Fang’s bravery follows it like a faithful companion. Yet she is prone to outbursts of passion and anger - especially when memories of the past are triggered and she has no resolution. She doesn’t like to be duped, lied to or left in the dark. Anyone who lies to her had better watch their backs if she ever discovers the truth (and that includes Vanille, though she can’t stay mad at the girl for long).

Ultimately Fang is a good person with a strong heart and centuries worth of guilt on her shoulders. It isn’t until the last game (Lightning Returns) that she finally has the chance to work through her fears (i.e. losing Vanille). By the time the Apocalypse begins and she is reunited with Lightning, she understands that there is a part of her that will always be willing to play dirty. If push comes to shove, she would use her friends to rescue Vanille. Lightning, thankfully, understands why and doesn’t hold it against her, however that realization is a turning point for Fang. Her friends are her family too - no matter how long she has known them or what they have been through. She gives her word that she will help Lightning find and save Serah and that she is glad - honored, even - to see the end of the world at the Savior’s side.

But it seems Lady Luck has a new plan for her; for them. Instead of running to her death in a hail of gunfire, Fang will be running to a new life with her friends at her side.

However that future is unknown to her. No matter the outcome, Fang will continue to be her cocky, sarcastic self. Some may call it a front, but that isn’t correct. Fang doesn’t believe in letting fear conquer the day - and, after all she has seen, that is an admirable conviction. If she is meant to die or fall into a Crystal Stasis (again), she is going to leave her mark while she can and not worry about tomorrow.

Today is her problem and while she has breath in her body, she will follow the trail of friends and family alike.
