If their application contains explicit references to 'hard' spoilers (character death, unforeseen plot twists, big reveals, he was evil all along etc), players should put the application in their own journal or their character's journal and link it, making sure to mention the presence of spoilers within. For further clarification on our spoilers policy and whether or not your application needs to be linked, please check this page. Thank you for your cooperation!

Current Characters in Route: Lightning Farron, Rise Kujikawa

Character
Name: Roxas
Series: Kingdom Hearts
Timeline: Before the last battle with Axel
Canon Resource Links: http://kingdomhearts.wikia.com/wiki/Roxas#Story

Personality:
Roxas is a generally happy character, who has a wide range of emotions despite him not really having his own heart. His personality is shaped by the time he spent in Organization XIII, though he has no memories of this time, and the seven days he spent in Twilight Town with his friends.

Roxas most of the time is a happy and spirited boy. He loves spending time with his friends, Hayner, Pence, and Olette, and does everything with them. One of his favorite things that makes him happier than anything else is spending time on top of the clock tower, sharing ice cream with them. Generally doing anything with his friends, even talking about a beach trip, fills him with excitement. They do everything together. He's also happy to talk to the people around town that he knows, like the Item Shop lady who is happy to see him in return.

He's also very determined, and also rather competitive. The Struggle Tournament is a big show of this, as he is determined to win no matter what. His competitive side is most seen whenever he is confronted by something that he feels he can beat, like when Seifer challenges him to a fight at the beginning of the game. He also does his best in taking several jobs sound town so he can help his friends buy tickets for the beach. Once he makes up his mind to do something, he rarely ever strays from that commitment. His competitive side can also make him extremely stubborn, one big moments was when he refused to lose to Setzer just so Setzer could win for his fans.

Roxas is very loyal to his friends. He stands up for them when they are called losers by Seifer, and is more than willing to fight for them as well. He keeps his promises. When he promised Hayner he'd fight him in the Struggle Tournament, he kept it. And when something comes up, such as an attack in the Sandlot, and he breaks the promise, he does whatever he can to make it up to his friends. They are also the source of his strength, and when he is pulled away from them and winds up in the middle of an argument between two men he doesn't know, he calls to them to get out of it. He knows his loyalty to his friends will always be rewarded with their loyalty towards him.

Roxas is also very kind and caring. He hold his friends dear to him, and when he wins the Struggle tournament, he shows how much by giving them each a marble from the trophy. He shows his kindness when he helps the Item Shop lady in finding her cat, knowing it would make her happy to be reunited with her pet. He doesn't blame Naminé for what she tells him, showing that he has no reason to be angry with her since they were in the same situation.

He isn't unintelligent by any means. He can easily identify things in situation that require it, reading his surroundings before battle. When confronted by Seifer for the first time, he knows he needs a weapon to defend himself with, which he finds in front of him. When he is told everything by Naminé, he listens and asks appropriate questions, even if the answers are not what he wants. The day he and his friends were doing their assignment on the wonders of Twilight Town, he sees things that they don't, though they all dismiss it as something pretty mundane. He is generally very observant as well, spotting things others don't.

Roxas can also be prone to bouts of melancholy. When he becomes more and more confused about the dreams and the happenings around town, he grows despondent and moody. Even his friends can hardly shake him out of these periods. He hits the worst part of his depression when Naminé explains everything to him, making him doubt his own existence, not wanting to become a part of Sora since that would mean he would no loner be his own person. He also feels horrible when he fails to remember that Axel was his best friend, which was triggered when he dreamt about when he was leaving and Axel saying he would miss him.

His worst trait is his temper. He is quick to anger, and when his anger gets out of control, he will not hesitate to attack. One of the victims of his out of control anger happened to be a computer console, which he beat with his Keyblade until is was beyond use. He is rash and cocky when his temper flares up, jumping into fights without thinking about the consequences, such as his fight with Axel. His words can be clipping and blunt when he's irritated, snapping at his friends when they don't believe that weird things have been happening to him every day. He does apologize for these outbursts, so he is well aware that these times can hurt people close to him. He is also very capable of holding resentment. This adds on to his anger, his main source of resentment being Sora.

Strengths:
Loyalty: Will do anything for his friends since they are the most important people to him.

Determination: Will not back down from a challenge, no matter what happens.

Perception: During battle he is capable of reading the situation and using it to his advantage.

Fighter: He knows how to fight and defend himself. He is also able to dual-wield Keyblades. He's also physically stronger than normal people, and capable of jumping higher than most. It also makes him rather durable.

Caring: He'll show and go out of his way to let his friends know he cares for them. Whether it is by sharing his prize, or getting ice cream for their visits on the clock tower, he enjoys being around them and making them happy.

Weaknesses:
Temper: He is not very good at keeping his temper under control. When pushed far enough, he will act out aggressively. It also makes him rash and impulsive.

Melancholy: When he gets sad, he gets immensely sad to the point where it hard to snap him out of it. These bouts can go away quickly, or last for long periods of time.

Stubborn: If he gets too determined, he will become as stubborn as a bull to get what he wants done.

Samples
First Person Sample:
[The screen pops up and there's a finger poking the lens followed by a fluffy, cloud-like wing doing the same.]

Is this thing on? I don't think we're on the Dex again... This looks like a TV or something.

[The screen is moved around sporadically, showing glimpses of a blue bird and a young, blonde haired boy. When it stops, the boy is on the screen again.]

What do you think about it, Sky?

Blu?

Yeah... I don't think it's a TV either.

[Clearly the boy looks confused. His little Swablu, perched on his shoulder, also looks confused. She tries to solve their confusion and jumps onto the Gear, knocking it and herself down down to the ground. All that's left to see is her wings wiping at the screen and the boy in the background intermittently at times as she does.]

S-Sky! Don't break it!

Third Person Sample:
Roxas had no idea what was going on. This wasn't the basement of the mansion in Twilight Town. And this definitely wasn't Twilight Town. The lady who called herself his mom shoved him out of the house before he could ask her any questions after almost hitting him with the backpack as she tried to hand it to him. He probably shouldn't have flinched. He saw an old man in the middle of the town and decided that this man might know what's going on!

This wasn't a very good idea either. Roxas was irritated now, glaring at the small red and white ball in his hand. The old man had gone on and on about the world of Pokémon without telling him much else. After a while he sighed and threw the ball to the ground. “I doubt there's anything in this thing.” He turned to walk off when a sudden chirping noise stopped him. It sounded like a bird.

Quite frankly, he had no idea what kind of bird this was. It was blue, looked like a tiny cloud. It also looked very happy to see Roxas. It didn't take him long at all to bond with the bird, though it did keep trying to clean him. The way out of town was obvious enough, and the old man had mentioned something about how he had to travel.

This was a few days ago.

Roxas makes a rather irritated noise that was between a growl and a huff. His Swablu, Sky, tries to mimic the noise her trainer makes without much success. “I can't believe we're lost!” he yells at the trees. They were the current source of his irritation. His hand was scratched up from where he had hit a tree already out of anger. Sky had panicked then and fussed over him for almost an hour. She had also tried to attack the same tree that he had to show her displeasure.

He goes about being angry for a while long before the exertion makes him sit on the ground. He's clearly worn out now, his face a sullen mask. “Sky... what if we never get out of this place?” Sky hops into her trainers arms, letting him hug her close and hide his face in her feathers. She coos very softly and nuzzles him gently. She doesn't like seeing her human sad. When Roxas raises his head again, he had a small smile on his face. “Sorry...” He pets his little pal before standing with her in his arms.

“We should probably keep going. I don't know where we're gonna sleep tonight.” Sky chirps and flaps her wings as if to encourage Roxas. He smiles more and nods. “Right! We can make it! But you know when we get attacked again, you're the one who has to fight. I'm not going to get scratched up by another weird cat!”

Sky just stares at him before ruffling her feathers in complaint. She thought her trainer did just fine defending himself. After a while he sighs and pats her on the head. “Fine. No more cats.”

Roxas is unique when it comes to Nobodies since he is capable of real emotions. He possesses an actual heart, though he has been told by the members of Organization XIII that he was like them, a being without a heart. It's that emotion and his memories, though some have been erased, that shape who he is in the game.

Roxas displays the fact that he is a rather happy, carefree, cheerful and at ease kid when around friends. He makes friends easily, and loves to spend time with them. Axel was his first friend in the Organization, and they had their own tradition of meeting on top of the Clocktower. This gave Roxas something to look forward to and cherish, even with the addition of Xion into the mix. He continued this tradition with his new friends, Hayner, Pence and Olette when he arrived in Twilight Town despite having no memories of his former life in which he did this with his other friends. Just like with his former friends, Roxas was always glad to be doing things with them like adventures around town. He expressed his happiness with smiles and teasing his friends and planning things to do with them, such as a beach trip with the Twilight Town crew. They were a regular group of kids that were enjoying their last week of vacation with as much fun and excitement as they could. As an Organization XIII member, he was far from regular, but his two friends were still able to make him smile.

He is also an extremely loyal friend. He is more than willing to stand up for them and defend them when someone questions or insults them. He does this for his Twilight Town friends when Seifer refers to them as losers to goad them into fighting him, fighting Seifer to make him take it back. This loyalty also extends into promises. He promised Axel and Xion that he would always meet them after their missions on the Clocktower to eat ice cream. Roxas promises Hayner that he would face him in the Struggle Tournament, and was able to keep that promise to his friend. If he does break the promise, he does whatever he can to rectify this, such as when breaking the promise to go to the beach with his Twilight Town friends. This also translates into him being fiercely protective of both sets of friends.

Roxas shows he can be kind and caring. When he heard that Axel may have been killed, he becomes devastated with worry, showing how deeply he cared for his friend. This is remedied when Axe does manage to make it back alive, and Roxas becomes overjoyed and lets his friend know he much worried about him. He shows his caring to Xion when he was more than willing to help her do her missions when she became incapable of wielding the Keyblade, even if it meant doubling his load. His caring extends to his friends in Twilight Town as well. After winning the Struggle championship, he presents them each with a marble from the trophy. His friends are everything to him, so he does what he can to show he appreciates and cares for them, even if he doesn't get anything in return for it.

He is far from unintelligent. This intelligence builds over time, as he originally was at about the intellectual level of a newborn when he first entered the Organization. It made him seem naive and slow to the other members, but as more things were explained to him and he learned, his rate of intelligence went up drastically, despite still having no memory of who he really was. In Twilight Town, he shows how intelligent he was by seeing things for what they really were and weren't. He isn't easily fooled by his enemies, and thinks things through before making a decision if his anger doesn't get in the way. He is quick to retain any knowledge he receives, such as knowing how to fight with a Keyblade even if his Twilight Town self doesn't remember what the weapon actually was.

The young man can also be rather determined and competitive. The determination he shows to do his missions, or even to win the Struggle Tournament, can make him seem stubborn. If he thinks he can do it or beat it, it is very hard for him to back down. Seifer is able to use his competitive side to goad Roxas into a fight when they were on a mission to retrieve the pictures that were stolen. His missions with the Organization were also met with that stubborn determination, especially when certain rememberer of the Organization, namely Saix and Xigbar, question his actual abilities and strength. His determination helps him win the Struggle Tournament against Setzer, and he proudly displays his Championship Belt to the crowd.

Roxas can be prone to bouts of melancholy, stoicism, episodes of solemn attitude, and can become distracted. When he starts finding out about who he was and what he was in his time with the Organization, he would at times withdraw from even his friends. When in Twilight Town, this occurs once more, and he starts feeling lost and confused. The happenings around town and the strange dreams he has while in Twilight Town add to the heap of confused feelings and brings out more of his sadness. When Naminé reveals the truth to him about everything, it was then he truly hit rock bottom with his depression. Xion's death also affected him greatly, as he starts crying as she fades away.

A temper that comes along with a devil-may-care attitude is one of his worst traits, as well as . When angered enough, his anger becomes out of control and difficult to reign in. A source of anger to him in the Organization was whenever Saïx referred to Xion as an 'it', yelling at his superior in rage. When he infiltrates the mansion, his victim of rage is the computer that DiZ had in the basement of the building. His rashness, cocky attitude, and flares of temper at times makes him jump into battle without thinking of the possible consequences, such as his fight with Axel. When irritated, his words can be clipping and blunt, which is shown when he snaps at his friends in Twilight Town for not believing him when he tells them about what he saw. He rebels when the Organization try to tell him where his “place” in all this was, and rebels against DiZ's commands to go back to his other half. He can hold resentment, such as against Xigbar and Sora, which adds to his anger. Though it can be both a positive and a negative, Roxas is a strongly independent individual. He has little patience for people who seem to try and bend his will or try to confuse him, such as certain Org members and Diz.

Despite being happy and carefree, he does not have an extreme lust for life, doesn't see everything with a bright outlook, yet still has wishes and his own desires. His desire for friends keeps him grounded in both cases, and he does his best to achieve what he wants with their help. He also does not want to stand out, preferring to not have the Keyblade and wanting to lead a perfectly normal life. Having his friends in Twilight Town lets him experience just that.

Roxas's lack of memories of his former life do not stop him from being who he is. The emotions he experienced and grew within him as an Organization member easily blends in with his Twilight Town self .

Rebellious Will fight anyone who tries to tell him what to do or where his place in life was.

[A feed pops up showing the bright blue sky. Presumably whoever this Gear belongs to must have dropped it without realizing it. There's nothing but soft white clouds rolling overhead and the occasional chirp of a bird.

A few moments later a blue bird with soft, cloud like wings shows up on the screen. The blue bird chirps a few times and pecks at the screen. It looks up and chirps to someone off screen.]

S-Sky! You found it?

[A young blond man was panting hard as he picked up the screen, glaring before turning to his Swablu.]

I wouldn't have dropped it if you hadn't flown off! You were supposed to fight that Espurr, not escape!

[His Swablu lets out a soft, sad coo. After grumbling some more, the boy drops the Gear again and the screen shows him comforting his Swablu.]

I'm sorry... I know you don't like fighting, Sky, but how else will you get strong?

[Sky let her trainer pet her soft wings and head before returning the same affection. This makes the boy laugh and pull her into his arms.]

Yeah, yeah. I know you like me. I like you, too...... how about this... no more cat Pokémon, okay?

[Sky considers this before chirping and nodding. The boy smiles and nods.]

Great. We should get going before it gets dark.

[He gets up and grabs the Gear, blinking.]

Was this on the whole time?
