APPLICATIONS!
Currently: Closed!
Route 29 has closed as of May 30th. For the continuation of the game, please visit [community profile] victory_road!

Applications will be normally checked during the weekend following the first and third Sunday of each month unless otherwise stated, and we will allow one application per person during one application cycle. Remember, the most characters one player can have at a time is currently set at five.

Applications received after 11:59 PM EST on Saturday of the first and third weekend of each month will be checked the following app weekend unless otherwise stated.

We now ask that potential applicants post their application in comments rather than linking. If their application contains explicit references to 'hard' spoilers (character death, unforeseen plot twists, big reveals, he was evil all along etc), players should put the application in their own journal or their character's journal and link it, making sure to mention the presence of spoilers within. For further clarification on our spoilers policy and whether or not your application needs to be linked, please check this page. Thank you for your cooperation!

The comment character limit on dreamwidth is 16,000 characters so apps no longer need to be split into multiple comments; however this is at players' discretion.

Please use the form below and post your application in comments rather than linking if you can. If you have any questions, feel free to ask either of the mods. You can reach us through emails, IMs, or PMs.

A reminder for those waiting to hear back, please don't be worried if we skip yours while going through them. It only means we needed a little more time to research!

Momotarou Mikoshiba | Free! Eternal Summer | Reserved [2/3]

[personal profile] peach_boy 2014-09-19 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
Personality: Momotarou Mikoshiba, or Momo as he’s nicknamed in canon, could easily be classified as the class clown. The first time we meet him, his objective is to go meet girls to flirt with, but then he’s dragged against his will by Rin to compete in the Iwatobi Swim Club Returns’ relay because he’s good at swimming backstroke. Momo is shown to be quite cocky when he talks about his skills, eagerly telling Rin that he was well known where he lived thanks to all the swimming competitions he has won. He’s someone who gets motivated to see things if he has a decent excuse, such as seeing a pretty girl that he wants to impress, which was the thing that ended up making him swim in that relay. But what ended up making him join his school swimming club was losing. If there’s something that Momo dislikes, that is losing, so his determination to get better and win made him join the Samezuka Academy swimming club, clearly stating that he didn’t want to lose next time he swam in a relay. And once he’s there, on his first official training with his team, he acts way too happy-go-lucky and cocky, which causes him commit mistakes during his trainings, such as crashing into the wall instead of making a turn when he was just about to set a new record for the team, but in reality he really is serious about becoming better for his team and setting new records, both to impress girls and to show his brother, the previous captain of the Samezuka Academy swim club, what he’s capable of, since the two brothers swim the same style: backstroke.

Momotarou is a little hyperactive, which makes him want to do many things at the same time, such as talking and swimming. He also has no idea of when he’s acting in a way that bothers other people and he flirts non-stop, to the point where he would give out his introduction and random facts about himself (some that could be considered inappropriate too, such as what place of his body he washes first) whenever he sees a girl he likes. Despite all these things, Momo has been shown to be really loyal to the people he cares about, trying to cheer them up if he notices they are sad or promising to give his best for them. He shows a couple of times that there is more to him than his goofy nature, showing that he can be wise about things, such as when he tells Nitori that there is no such thing as a ‘last summer’. Soon enough, he began to swim not only to impress girls but also to get far with his teammates, to be able to reach nationals with them and not let the others down. Because he’s such a talented backstroke swimmer, he was able to take a spot in the relay team, which means that he carries the hopes and wish to win of all the teammates that he had surpassed in order to win that spot.

Although he shows some respect to those who are older than him, using the appropriate suffix for them, he is quickly shown to push himself over others and act as if he’d known them for his entire life when it was actually not that long at all that they met. Despite his jokingly exterior, Momo knows when to get serious and when others are being serious with him, such as when Nitori tells him to do his best at the relay so they can win. He takes the competitions very seriously despite his young age and the fact that it’s just his first year in the swim club and works as hard as he can to be able to win, although he isn’t shown training as much as say, Nitori does, because he was born with a natural talent for swimming backstroke.

Last but not least, it’s important to note that he’s still very young and inexperienced about a lot of things, yet that doesn’t stop him for being positive and always wear a smile on his face. Over the course of what little canon screen time he has, Momo becomes a little more mature and feels responsible for his team’s fate in competition, understanding that he must give his best to make his teammates proud of him and to not let them down. Although he does grow more mature about that, he still remains childish in all other things.

Strengths/Weaknesses:

Swimming : Momo is very skilled at swimming backstroke. He isn’t shown to swim any other strokes but it’s easy to assume that he’s at least capable of doing them. With just a few months of training he was able to get good enough times to swim with the relay team despite being just a freshman. It is also implied that he has a natural talent for swimming that just needs to get polished in order to accomplish great feats.

Physical state: Thanks to his swimming, Momo has a decent built and resistance, all because of the hard training the Samezuka’s swim club goes through and all the swimming he has done since he was young. It’s definitely more than the average boy of his age, but he just uses that strength for swimming.

Optimism: No matter what the circumstances are, it’s next to impossible to see Momotarou with nothing but a smile on his face. He tries to see the bright side of things constantly and cheer up those around him, such as when Nitori talks about ‘the last summer’ and he replies that, as long as they live, they would have many summers to come.

✓/✗ Boldness: Shame is something that doesn’t strike Momo very regularly. He doesn’t care if he doesn’t know someone he is still capable of going towards them (especially if that person is a cute girl) and introducing himself, more often than not causing embarrassment to those around him. It is also quite possible that this boldness of his causes trouble most of the time, portrayed in canon as Rin dragging him away and scolding him.

✓/✗ Bug lover: Although his passion is collecting beetles, it’s easy to assume that Momo likes bugs a little too much. When it comes to beetles, he loves showing off the ones he catches, to the point of wanting to give one as a gift to Gou, ignoring if she likes them or not.

Pride: Momo, since the first time we see him, show a lot of pride in his skills as a swimmer, even though he, at first, doesn’t want to join the swim club. He has no shame in telling others his achievements, whether they are from swimming or from the beetles he catches. He shows off the fact that he was known as Japan’s Sea Otter or the size of the biggest beetle he captured. But pride ends up making him quite cocky and makes silly mistakes in things that he knows how to do well, like crashing into a wall during training or talking while swimming.

Over reactive: It doesn’t matter what triggers them, Momo’s reactions about everything are always over the top. Whether it’s eating cookies that he believes are Gou’s to crying buckets when he’s turned down, it’s always a little too much.
