APPLICATIONS!
Currently: Closed!
Route 29 has closed as of May 30th. For the continuation of the game, please visit [community profile] victory_road!

Applications will be normally checked during the weekend following the first and third Sunday of each month unless otherwise stated, and we will allow one application per person during one application cycle. Remember, the most characters one player can have at a time is currently set at five.

Applications received after 11:59 PM EST on Saturday of the first and third weekend of each month will be checked the following app weekend unless otherwise stated.

We now ask that potential applicants post their application in comments rather than linking. If their application contains explicit references to 'hard' spoilers (character death, unforeseen plot twists, big reveals, he was evil all along etc), players should put the application in their own journal or their character's journal and link it, making sure to mention the presence of spoilers within. For further clarification on our spoilers policy and whether or not your application needs to be linked, please check this page. Thank you for your cooperation!

The comment character limit on dreamwidth is 16,000 characters so apps no longer need to be split into multiple comments; however this is at players' discretion.

Please use the form below and post your application in comments rather than linking if you can. If you have any questions, feel free to ask either of the mods. You can reach us through emails, IMs, or PMs.

A reminder for those waiting to hear back, please don't be worried if we skip yours while going through them. It only means we needed a little more time to research!

Helpful links!

As mentioned in his application, back home Nagi finds himself spending most of his time on the computer, playing video games (one could assume), etc. The events of Kapitel take place during the time that Pokemon Yellow would have come out in Japan, and one could assume that Nagi had a chance to get the game and actually play it for himself. So he's familiar with Pokemon, and given the amount of inordinate time he spends with his computer, it could easily be said that he's extremely familiar with the first generation, at the very least.

My aim for Nagi in Route was to have him find his niche in learning about Pokemon battling and strategies first hand, in person, beyond the screen of a Gameboy. Though he might not intend to go out of his way to talk to those outside of Team Rocket at first, he wouldn't be above questioning the Network about battling, Pokemon care, etc. He would eventually find it all rather intriguing to inquire about certain things to the Network regarding Pokemon to see what sorts of responses he could glean. After all, speaking on the Network and having to try to talk to someone face to face are two entirely different things, and the former is something that Nagi could adjust to far more easily. Similar to Schuldig, he might even forge an identity for himself under the guise of anonymity, just to give him more leverage in speaking with others without having to outwardly let them know who he really is unless he wants them to know.

As far as personal one-on-one interaction goes, it would be a slow process to be sure, but Nagi would eventually find some sort of relationship with his fellow Rocketeers, whether it be something as simple as finding common ground when it comes to talking about which Pokemon type is the strongest. Nagi's not the kind of person to openly come to anyone ever to shoot the breeze, but as far as Pokemon is concerned this can be turned into something he legitimately wants to talk about, to learn more about, and the only way he's going to be able to do that is to talk to people who are more familiar with the hundreds of new Pokemon he's suddenly being presented with.

Having his telekinesis stripped away will be another factor in changing the way he thinks in Route. Back home, when the average day consisted of missions with targets to be killed and objectives to be completed by any means necessary, he relied on his powers to get him through all of that. Without having his powers at his disposal, he will have to learn to work with his Pokemon to get them to perform the same tasks that he would have otherwise completed on his own...and he's going to need help learning how exactly to go about this. It's one thing to push buttons and input commands to have a Pokemon attack, but it's entirely another to have it standing in front of you, waiting for an order to be given. He's going to have to find others who have trained harder and longer than he has, and find someone who can teach him how to do what he wants to do, whether he likes it or not. And, over time, he's going to like it because it's taking the place of something he's always known. It would be bringing back a little familiarity that he's lost.

All things considered, while Nagi will always ultimately prefer being alone, I'm anticipating that his time in Route will start to change him for the better as far as actually talking to people goes, encouraging him to talk to others to get the information he's looking for. He'll find some people who do share the same interests that he does in the Pokemon they care for, and it will interest him. He might find himself wanting to talk to these particular people further, realizing after that that speaking to the Network anonymously all the time will only get him so much in regards to a response. People are always posing their own questions about Pokemon and things over the Network, and he would find it hard to resist putting in his own two cents.

I hope this helps, and I apologize for not elaborating on it further in my application!
