The comment character limit on dreamwidth is 16,000 characters so apps no longer need to be split into multiple comments; however this is at players' discretion.
Please use the form below and post your application in comments rather than linking if you can. If you have any questions, feel free to ask either of the mods. You can reach us through emails, IMs, or PMs.
A reminder for those waiting to hear back, please don't be worried if we skip yours while going through them. It only means we needed a little more time to research!

Personality: At a young age, Aerith's home world of Radiant Garden was overrun by the Heartless, and she, along with Cid, Yuffie and Leon, fled her home to a world that existed solely as a place of refuge for those whose worlds had been overtaken. In the years that passed, she and the others spent most of their time learning as much as they could on the Heartless and Ansem, waiting for a hero with a Keyblade to help them restore the worlds, and helping those around them.
Regardless of being torn from the world she was born on, Aerith is a generally positive, calm, and caring young woman, and a nurturer by nature, generally seen healing the group during battles instead of battling the Heartless head-on. She also made sure that Sora and Co. didn't leave Traverse Town for the first time without a bit of munny and supplies. Additionally, Aerith is the one who provides Sora with the most powerful curative spell she can offer in Hollow Bastion, and she, along with Leon, helped to remind Sora that even when the barriers to the world are restored, barring them from seeing each other again, they'd have each other in their hearts.
She had been at the forefront of gathering information on Ansem, as she is the one who first mentions and discusses them with Sora. Additionally, when Sora, Donald and Goofy arrived in Traverse Town, she helped relay information on the Keyblade, its purpose, and the fact that the worlds had been connected.
Aerith is intelligent and intuitive to her surroundings, and especially to the people around her. She is good at reading into her friends' words and actions, such as Cloud's (especially Cloud's) attempt to leave to face his darkness without telling her. He obviously didn't get very far, and was a bit flabbergasted when Aerith called him out on his decision. But she had understood at that point that it wasn't something she could help him with directly; she could only help him indirectly by waiting, and expecting for him to return. Thus, she has a deep understanding of the people she cares about, and is usually able to discern what otherwise goes unsaid.
Aerith's iteration within Castle Oblivion was so intuitive that she was able to understand to some extent what was happening even outside of the boundaries of Sora's memories — enough so to give Sora a warning about his memories — though because she was created, in a way, out of Sora's memories, and how Sora views her, this attribute is likely exaggerated to some extent. She never really displays quite that level of mysterious understanding in the real world. However, this does suggest that Aerith has caught Sora off guard by figuring something out about him at some point, which would explain why he appears to have that impression of her.
Aerith has a light teasing side, which she displayed most prominently when saying "bon appetit!" to the DTD as she transferred a program on a CD meant to aid Sora and Tron in fighting the MCP. She will gently tease her friends, if only because flustering them can be entertaining, but she has never been seen teasing her friends out of malice. Her enemies, however, are a different story: see the MCP example above.
Despite being a bit more quiet and reserved than Yuffie, and Leon as well, in her own way, she is independent and capable of caring for herself in most situations, and is not afraid to, e.g. her miffed look when Leon expresses doubt about her staying alone to watch over the computer room by Ansem's office. She shines the most, however, when she is in a supporting role.
The quickest way to anger Aerith would be to threaten and/or harm someone she cares for, though she is not the type to act irrationally when presented with such a situation. She is more apt to help to heal when necessary, and offer advice and information on eliminating the threat with a group of others.
Strengths/Weaknesses:
+ Intelligent
+ Resourceful
+ Generally a good judge of character
- One of Aerith's main roles in the Kingdom Hearts series is to seek and provide information to Sora and Co., and to the Restoration Committee. If she were without any way to gather information, there's not a lot she can offer to a group. She is at risk of being sidelined in certain instances — a mismatched Pokémon battle in the beginning against a Team Rocket member, for example — which can easily lead to her becoming frustrated and disappointed in her inability to help.
- Aerith is not very strong physically, particularly compared to the likes of Yuffie, Leon and Sora. She makes up for it in other ways, but if it ever comes to blows, Aerith would lose.
- Aerith is in most cases only as good as the information she has. That's not to say she's stupid, but in a complicated type of world with only limited information available, she has drawn half-truth conclusions before, or been subject to half-truths like everyone else. e.g. Ansem reports in KH1, not remembering Hollow Bastion's name in KH2. Basically, she's not the know-all-to-end-all that she's sometimes viewed as (Again, how Sora sees her in CoM).

Whew!
[ hiking around Radiant Garden is pretty much a daily ritual for Aerith, but hiking through forests and dirt paths? not so much. the feed starts just as she's plopped down on the nearest, flattest rock available to sit on, looking a bit worn, but not particularly too worse for the wear. ]
[ she certainly has to have a pokéball on her person, but it's no where to be found in the video feed. truly roughin' it, here. ]
They really aren't kidding about taking journeys here, are they? I don't mind all the walking, but... I guess I'm not much of a serious traveler.
[ there's a slight glint in her eye, paired with a perceptive smile. Aerith may not be up for constant world and city hopping, but she clearly knows someone who is. ]
Which brings me to a question, actually! If you had to pick a... home base, I guess, what town would you choose? It's where I'd like to head — and stay, if possible.
Third Person Sample:
Once upon a time, in a life thousands of miles separated from hers, there was another girl just like her in some ways, who probably could have simply spoken with whatever world she was on and gleaned further understanding of where she was.
Aerith's only tools were a largely competent grasp of how worlds work (Though, at this point, a brush-up on world travel wouldn't hurt. How did she even get here, anyway?), and one rule in particular: No meddling.
Sort of hard to accomplish when one's shoved out the door with one of a world's native creatures attached at the hip and with a demand to get out there and experience what life with Pokémon has to offer.
Traveling along the connected worlds and making friends with the air one breathes was Sora's specialty, not Aerith's. However, if she was going to figure out where she was — rather, how to get back to where she was before — she'd have to gear up and start walking somewhere. This tiny town was informative — this is Johto, there are hundreds of these "Pokémon" out there for her to find, to learn to care for — but in the end, it didn't really provide the answers she needed at the moment.
(It hadn't fully occurred to her yet, either, but "Johto" would probably be of interest to the King. Perhaps tracking down the city with as many books as possible on this world would be next on her to-do list.)
Of course... If she needed to get moving, so did her new companion, the giant snake who had stubbornly wrapped itself around a nearby tree and stared angrily past her, like she wasn't actually standing a few yards away in front of it.
It was suddenly very clear to Aerith how easy it was to just shatter the "no meddling" rule to bits, if she was going to play along with the world's rules. Suddenly, Sora's modus operandi made sense.
She smiled slightly, tipping her head in thought.
The Seviper hissed, but made no move in one direction or the other.
"You know... Picking a name for you is going to be a lot harder than getting you out of that tree."
