Applications will be normally checked during the weekend following the first and third Sunday of each month unless otherwise stated, and we will allow one application per person during one application cycle. Remember, the most characters one player can have at a time is currently set at five.

Applications received after 11:59 PM EST on Saturday of the first and third weekend of each month will be checked the following app weekend unless otherwise stated.

We now ask that potential applicants post their application in comments rather than linking. If their application contains explicit references to 'hard' spoilers (character death, unforeseen plot twists, big reveals, he was evil all along etc), players should put the application in their own journal or their character's journal and link it, making sure to mention the presence of spoilers within. For further clarification on our spoilers policy and whether or not your application needs to be linked, please check this page. Thank you for your cooperation!

There are two words, to assure you've read both. <b><u>Samples</u></b> <b>First Person Sample:</b> The sample must take place in Route_29's setting. Eight sentences is the minimum. This is a PokéConnect post--one that will be on the character's journal, broadcast to the network. Although it is short, it needs to show how your character would communicate with others, as well as be descriptive enough to express the character's voice without sounding too generic. <b>Third Person Sample:</b> The sample must take place in Route_29's setting. The minimum is 300 words. Please note that what we are looking for is an inner working into the character’s thoughts and actions, and how the character responds to the setting, not something that could be taken as an excerpt fanfic. You may use other characters to bounce your characters actions off of, but everything should still be mostly from their point of view.

Strengths/Weaknesses:

✔ BATTLE SKILLS
Rated a 9/10 in battle skills, Jean is an excellent shot and is capable of hitting quite hard. He excels more with blades than with hand-to-hand combat, but he has a good understanding of both and will not hesitate to use them. His world looks kindly on those who can fight, so it makes sense for him to have learned how to fight even before his military training.

✔ LEADERSHIP
Jean is a natural leader, though he's admittedly a bit of a reluctant one. He sympathizes with the weaker members of his unit and will do everything in his power to save as many people as possible. While he can be opportunistic (such as using peoples' deaths as a diversion), he does genuinely feel bad about it and questions his actions afterwards.

✔ EMPATHY
As stated above, Jean does sympathize with others despite how he initially comes off. He genuinely does believe that a group is as strong as its weakest member, but that doesn't mean that the weaker members should be axed from the team. He does what he can to assist those weaker than he is. This will be especially beneficial for raising Pokémon.

✔ REACTING
Jean is very quick to act. While he does think things through with his plans, he is very decisive and quick to implement them. He thinks fast too - he's grabbed by a Titan at one point and moves to chop off its finger so he can escape.

✔ PLANNING
While his plans aren't perfect by any means, Jean's plans do enable quite a few people to survive after the 3DMGs run out of fuel. He works best when he's under pressure, but he's also capable of laying out plans outside of battle.

✔ / ✘ HONESTY
One thing's for sure, Jean will never lie. He sees no point in lying and always tells the truth. Of course, this means that he can be incredibly blunt and say things that really don't need to be said, but at least he's honest!

✘ HOTHEADED
He doesn't have control over his temper and often gets into fights, especially with Eren. He says things that don't need to be said (due in part to that honesty mentioned above) and will very happily keep picking until he's launched a physical fight.

✘ PESSIMISTIC
Jean believes the world to be a terrible place and one that has little value. He longs to live a comfy life away from the fighting and joined the trainees for that reason alone.

✘ STUBBORN
His arguments with Eren are due in part to stubbornness; Jean refuses to give in even when it's obvious that Eren does have a point. He is as set in his beliefs as Eren is - or at least, that's what he thinks. Eventually he does change, but for the time being, he's incredibly stubborn.

✘ SECOND-GUESSING
One of the greatest flaws with his leadership is second-guessing his plans and his actions. Jean usually won't second-guess himself until after everything is said and done, but when he starts worrying, almost nothing can pull him out of it.

✘ DRAMA QUEEN
Not only does Jean speak his mind on just about everything, he also tends to be over-dramatic. He overreacts to just about everything in training, from Mikasa's friendship to Eren, to ranking beneath Eren in training.

✘ NOT A SMOOTH TALKER
While this is a minor flaw, Jean cannot speak comfortably around girls he likes. He goes nearly incoherent around Mikasa when he first sees her; though when he's talking to her later on during the battle of Trost he's capable of keeping his cool and focusing on the situation.

Pokémon Information
Affiliation: Trainer
Starter: Scyther - Because Jean likes to bug Mikasa! Okay no, that was terrible, I apologize. It's really because Scythers are incredibly fast and dexterous, not to mention they use two blades like everyone in the military does back home. Scyther evolves into Scizor, which is a Steel-type Pokémon that is still relatively quick despite its typing, and it would remind Jean of the 3DMG back home. Admittedly he can't use this one to fly around, but at least it will be reminiscent of home.
