We now ask that potential applicants post their application in comments rather than linking. If their application contains explicit references to 'hard' spoilers (character death, unforeseen plot twists, big reveals, he was evil all along etc), players should put the application in their own journal or their character's journal and link it, making sure to mention the presence of spoilers within. Hello? [Kairi gently taps the screen.] Is this thing on now? Ah, okay, I think it’s working now. [She smiles now, and levels the screen so the picture is clear.]

I don’t know if anyone can help me. I’m new around here, and I’m not really sure where I’m going just yet. My name is Kairi, and I’m looking for my friends. Their names are Sora and Riku. Sora’s about this tall - [She reaches her hand just slightly above her head.] - and has brown, spiky hair. Riku is taller - [She reaches up, indicated his height.] - and has silver hair. If anyone has seen them, please let me know. I’m worried about them... they tend to get into a lot of trouble when I’m not around. [This last part is noted with a little hint of good natured teasing]

[At this point, a plump little Spheal makes itself known from the ground with a squeak of its name. Kairi kneels down to pat it on the head.] At least in the meantime I have this little guy. I don’t know much about this new world, but so far, it’s not so bad with you here.

I wish I knew where that music was coming from though.

Third Person Sample: She’d seen other worlds, and she was not surprised in the least that they existed. But that didn’t make it easier when she found herself plunked down right in the middle of an unknown land without much idea of why she was there or how she’d gotten there. It was a good thing Kairi wasn’t one to panic under pressure.

Thankfully enough, a few things had been explained so far. Even though Kairi was more than sure that the woman in the house where she’d woken up who was claiming to be her mother was indeed not the real thing, she had been kindly enough and Kairi was at least grateful for the gear and supplies that had been offered to her in a neat little backpack. She’d accepted them with thanks, and once she had changed into acceptable day clothing that were not the PJs she’d woken up in, she ventured outside to see if anything or anyone looked familiar. No sense in summoning her keyblade unless it was necessary, though she would soon find out that wouldn’t work anyway.

Asking the man who claimed to be a ‘Pokemon Professor’ hadn’t given her much more information on HOW she’d gotten her. He’d been more than forthcoming with information on what exactly a Pokemon was, and the fact that she was now supposed to catch the little guys, make friends with them, train them, and battle them, but other than that many of her questions remained unanswered. For example, where were her friends. From the moment she’d woken up they’d been on her mind, but she’d had not time to search.

Now that she had her ‘starter Pokemon’, a plump little creature called a Spheal, she could at least take some time and explore the town. She’d decided to carry the little guy in her arms instead of keeping inside that Pokeball. While the professor had tried to explain to her that it was more than comfortable, Kairi just didn’t like the idea right now. Unfortunately, searching New Bark Town turned up no sign of Sora or Riku. Not even Lea or Yen Sid were around. Finally it seemed like using the PokeGear might just be her next step. Leaving the town didn’t scare her. With no heartless around, she was more than capable of exploring on her own, but if she had some sense of a destination it was a heck of a lot better than wandering around aimlessly.

“What do you think? Should I try it?” she asked, setting the Spheal down and taking the device out. Of course, she didn’t understand the enthusiastic answer, but she smiled all the same. “Yeah, I think so too. Let’s give it a shot.”

Plunking herself down in a comfortable spot, Kairi pushed her red hair from her face and tried to record a message.

Before we make our final decision on your application, we would like a revised personality section, as it is currently consists of too much history. Using character history to explain behavior and traits is fine, but shouldn’t take up the majority of the section, and we would like a more focused analysis of the character. You will have one week to complete these requests before the character is available again.

Just to clarify. I feel like I only REALLY used a lot of history in the KH2 section of my description. If I took out the history and condensed it solely into personality traits, but left the rest of the section largely the same, would the suffice? Or would you like an entire rewrite?

We would recommend a rewrite, since while your history might have been focused around a point, it still ran through a fair bit of the description. Good luck!

Kairi is, in the simplest explanation, a good and kind-hearted young woman who cares deeply about her friends and those around her. She is not one dimensional though, and shows quite a bit of spunk, energy, and personality.

At her core, Kairi is a princess of heart, which means she has a heart of pure light. Her gentle and caring personality reflects this, as she is normally upbeat, sweet, and very sociable (as we see when she quickly befriends the Twilight Town kids in KH2). However, she is just as capable of negative emotions, such as anger and sadness, as anyone else. She is certainly not perfect, having been known to display a fair bit of attitude when in dangerous situations, and she can be incredibly stubborn. She can also be brash, and when she was younger, sometimes spoke without thinking. This bad habit was curbed a bit with age and loss, and she became far more patient. For someone of only 15 years old, she can often write and speak very eloquently and with a lot of intelligence and wisdom.

Unfortunately, Kairi often plays the damsel in distress role, but that does not mean she is weak. She is quick-thinking, willful, and very clever. When pushed into tough or dangerous situations she thinks on her feet, and isn’t easily scared (in the manga she bites Axel, for crying out loud). She often hopes for or sees the good in situations, and even when things look tough or she doesn’t know exactly how something will play out, she looks for the most positive solution. Despite being younger than both Sora and Riku, she sometimes speaks to them like an elder sister.

The one thing to note is that Kairi simply wouldn’t be Kairi without Sora and Riku. They have had a vast impact on her personality, and she is incredibly loyal to them. Perhaps because the boys were both so curious about the outside world, Kairi is happy to remain a homebody and relish the simple life she has been given. That isn’t to say she isn’t adventurous in her own way, but she is far more capable of sitting still than her friends and enjoying the peace. On the other hand, if either of her boys is in danger, she won’t hesitate for a second to jump in to help them. She will disregard her own safety simply to help them out, which lands her in even more hot water when she doesn’t think before she acts. Kairi puts others before herself without a second thought, that’s just the way she rolls.

All in all, Kairi is a good and loving young girl. She loves her friends, cares about and listens to others, and generally does the right thing. She likes to tease and joke around, but is never intentionally hurtful to anyone. She is a very genuine and charismatic person, and this makes her a good ally and friend to have.
