Applications will be normally checked during the weekend following the first and third Sunday of each month unless otherwise stated, and we will allow one application per person during one application cycle. Remember, the most characters one player can have at a time is currently set at five.

Applications received after 11:59 PM EST on Saturday of the first and third weekend of each month will be checked the following app weekend unless otherwise stated.

We now ask that potential applicants post their application in comments rather than linking. If their application contains explicit references to 'hard' spoilers (character death, unforeseen plot twists, big reveals, he was evil all along etc), players should put the application in their own journal or their character's journal and link it, making sure to mention the presence of spoilers within. For further clarification on our spoilers policy and whether or not your application needs to be linked, please check this page. Thank you for your cooperation!

The comment character limit on dreamwidth is 16,000 characters so apps no longer need to be split into multiple comments; however this is at players' discretion.

Although it is short, it needs to show how your character would communicate with others, as well as be descriptive enough to express the character's voice without sounding too generic. <b>Third Person Sample:</b> The sample must take place in Route_29's setting. The minimum is 300 words. Please note that what we are looking for is an inner working into the character’s thoughts and actions, and how the character responds to the setting, not something that could be taken as an excerpt fanfic. ...Right, so, question. I get this is supposed to be 'the Pokemon world'. I know what Pokemon are. But see, that's the problem. And not for wondering how the hell I got here, because if there's one thing we can all agree on it's 'second magic can go right to Hell'. No, you see, what I want to know is, why have I never seen a Pokemon like this?

[And with that he points to his own companion Absol.]

I'll admit I'm only a casual fan of the games, but I've definitely never seen this or anything like it. Is this some sort of generation gap? Would I have seen it in the next game? And if so, how does discovering new breeds of Pokemon between what we as gamers know as 'the generations' work here?

Third Person Sample:
Waver was not at all sure how to take being treated like a child. By a woman about his own age, no less. She couldn't have been much older than thirty, and he himself would be thirty that year... No matter how much he tried to protest, tell her she was mistaken and he was not her child, she kept talking about how very proud she was - and sad to see him go.
'It's fine, they're trying to mess with you, that's all', he thought to himself. But really, being belittled was...well, degrading. At the same time, he couldn't help but think of the way he would have reacted when he was a child, and smile. It was getting on his nerves, of course, but he wasn't about to burst out in a fit like he would have back then. It was almost like a fond memory of a friend, and in a way, it really was.

Rubbing his head to calm the frustration, he thanked the woman, declined her offer to save his money for him, and went on his way. He may have promised to call during his travels. Waver wasn't too sure about that. He'd just sort of went along with it once he gave in. Either way, he had no intention of calling someone he didn't know and who was clearly delusional. If anything, he would call for a doctor to examine her. Early stages of dementia, perhaps? Was that possible at thirty? Points to ponder he didn't have the time for. Nor the interest to care to waste his energy on. What's next on the agenda, visiting Professor Oak? No, he didn't feel like doing that. He would only be asked if he was a boy or girl. Definitely not something he needed to add on to the frustration of the day.

Before we make our final decision on your application, we would like a revised strengths/weaknesses section. For both strengths and weaknesses, there were barely two listed in either category and they aren't explained strongly enough. We'd like further elaboration on the points listed, if not the addition of a few more. You will have one week to complete these requests before the character is available again.

Hope this is okay!

Waver has improved his magecraft over ten years, but, even so, he really isn't very powerful. Compared to his colleagues and even students, his aptitude is laughable. Although he is quite skilled in alchemy, and it's certainly his area of expertise. His greatest strength is actually in training other magi and developing their skills, it's been said if he decided to call on his students to act with him, they would be capable of nearly anything. This is in part due to his ability to train them, and another part due to his charisma - he's been dubbed 'professor charisma' by many of them. He's a smoker and gamer, so it's no stretch to think he's pretty out of shape as well, especially as he took so much pride in that fact in his younger days. Waver's strengths lie in his intelligence, more than anything. He's always been very good at making up for his lack of skill, even if it might take longer, he's very dedicated when he wants to be, although he has a habit of putting things like grading papers off while he drinks or plays a new game. He does, however, have a short temper and little patience for mistakes from others, he's generally grumpy and known to throw chalk at students who are talking or sleeping in class.
