APPLICATIONS!
Currently: Closed!
Route 29 has closed as of May 30th. For the continuation of the game, please visit [community profile] victory_road!

Applications will be normally checked during the weekend following the first and third Sunday of each month unless otherwise stated, and we will allow one application per person during one application cycle. Remember, the most characters one player can have at a time is currently set at five.

Applications received after 11:59 PM EST on Saturday of the first and third weekend of each month will be checked the following app weekend unless otherwise stated.

We now ask that potential applicants post their application in comments rather than linking. If their application contains explicit references to 'hard' spoilers (character death, unforeseen plot twists, big reveals, he was evil all along etc), players should put the application in their own journal or their character's journal and link it, making sure to mention the presence of spoilers within. For further clarification on our spoilers policy and whether or not your application needs to be linked, please check this page. Thank you for your cooperation!

The comment character limit on dreamwidth is 16,000 characters so apps no longer need to be split into multiple comments; however this is at players' discretion.

Please use the form below and post your application in comments rather than linking if you can. If you have any questions, feel free to ask either of the mods. You can reach us through emails, IMs, or PMs.

A reminder for those waiting to hear back, please don't be worried if we skip yours while going through them. It only means we needed a little more time to research!

Helpful links!

Steve Rogers | MCU | Reserved (sorta)

[personal profile] zodiacrockstar 2013-03-03 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
Player
Name: Sloan
Personal Journal: [personal profile] zodiacrockstar
E-mail:ambiguityink@gmail.com
AIM/MSN: LoserWithAMouth
Timezone: Pacific
Current Characters in Route: None!

Character
Name: Steve Rogers
Series: Marvel Cinematic Universe
Timeline: After the Battle of New York, continuing associating with Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D. and struggling to embrace his role in the modern world. (So after Avengers basically)
Canon Resource Links: http://marvelcinematicuniverse.wikia.com/wiki/Captain_America and http://marvel-movies.wikia.com/wiki/Steve_Rogers

Personality: The first and foremost thing to know about Steve Rogers is that at heart he's a good person who just wants to do the right thing, and is willing to bend and break rules to do just that. He's a wholesome person with a strong artistic ability and always a loyal friend and ally to anyone who earns it. Steve was born weak, unhealthy, and frail, he's not outwardly the superhero type at all (until later), but that inside he's got incredible amounts of strength and integrity, that he learned ways to get around his weaknesses, to think outside the box and never give up. His mother instilled in him a strong sense of duty, honor, and humility, trying to insure he'd be a good person even after she died and left him orphaned at a young age, and Steve never forgot these lessons, letting them shape the man he was growing up to become.

He's someone that, even when he was frail, has to take action against injustice, no matter how small the instance, like standing up to a man literally twice his size because he was being rude in a theatre, even taking the beating that came with it. His friendship with Bucky was important in all part of Steve's life, because Bucky often saved him frequently from bullies, treated him equally, and laughed with him, these helped keep Steve from ever becoming bitter about his circumstances or big headed about his serum abilities. Even with Bucky, Steve didn't socialize much, leaving him with lack of confidence in social interactions, causing him to be awkward and covering it up with a clever reply or his dry wit, which often left people unsure if he was saying it in seriousness or not.

Being incredibly stubborn and having faith in himself and his ability to do the right thing, Steve never gave up on his dream to join the military and serve his country like his father had. Steve is also someone who is willing to think outside the box, like when he got the flag off the pole in a way that was more mind than brawn, and when he can't think of a better way to save people, he's more than willing to sacrifice his life to save others, like with throwing his body on the grenade or crashing the plane. He often gets defensive when he feels bullied and threatened, like in Avengers  when Tony was being Tony in the helicarrier lab (before they find the phase 2 stuff) and Steve tried to be snappy back and ended up walking out, but once away able to really think about the logical argument Tony was giving behind his sarcastic comments, because he was too defensive at the time of the conversation to try and understand underlying point. He's a man with a good heart, who must have faith in himself or else he loses all will to take action.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
Strengths:
Artistic
Integrity
Natural Leader
A Strong Sense of Duty, Honor, and Humility
Thinks Outside the Box
Wholesome
Adaptable
Good Hearted
Loyal

Strength/Weakness:
A dry, clever sense of humor
Old Fashioned

Weaknesses:
Stubborn
Lacks Social Confidence
Self-Sacrificing
Takes Losses and Defeats Personally
Gets Defensive when feeling bullied or threatened
Guns can still kill him
He Fears a Loss of Faith in Himself, that he'll lose the faith that he can do the right thing, because even when he was weak he believed in himself and that he could do the right thing, it was just society holding him back, or when he went behind enemy lines to save Bucky and all those men, he had faith in himself that he could do it when everyone else said it wasn't so. In Avengers we see that he's lost some faith in himself, that he lost everyone and everything he loved, that he should have died, that he doesn't fit in, that he's a relic better left in the past, but he regains a piece of that faith when he helps Tony fix the propeller on the helicarrier, and then regains more when Tony, the most influential person in the group, defers to him as leader in the Battle of New York. A loss of faith in himself leaves him more weak and useless than he was when he was a small, unhealthy child.

Pokémon Information
Affiliation: Trainer
Starter: Riolu; Steve and Riolu are similar in a number of ways that make me feel Riolu is the best pokemon starter for him. Steve before the serum was small and unassuming but he's a fighter and a loyal friend, much like Riolu, but Riolu mirrors Steve's inner strength physically, much like the serum does later in Steve's life. Both have an unflinching nature and, once evolved, they share a deep sense of justice that would make them deeply compatible. Lucario also reflects Steve's shield in being a Steel type as well as Fighting. I'd prefer a female because I want to name her Grace.
(If you won't allow Riolu, my second choice is a Rufflet named Sam)

Samples
First Person Sample:

[the view, which seems to be of patch of grass, is jostling around, tapping as well as a muffled curse] ...probably Stark technology. Oh, is it working?

This light means somethings recording, right? [the view is adjusted around quickly, Steve coming into view, though half obscured with a thumb on the camera, the sky in the background] Isn't there supposed to be someone who explains these gadgets? That lady didn't say much of anything. [Steve seems to not be looking at the camera at all, as if unaware of it at the moment]

Wait, Stark's name isn't on it, obviously can't be his then, he'd never miss the chance to plaster his name everywhere. [he laughs as he finally seems to look at the camera] Oh, is that the lens? Is it live?

Okay, so did I wake up a new century again? This is definitely different. I don't know if people can see this, but anyone have any information they can give me, because I'm definitely not in Kansas anymore.

Third Person Sample:

He realizes now that he really isn't in Kansas anymore. Or anywhere he's even remotely familiar with. He's not even sure if he can explain this place away by saying he slept through a few centuries (if he could survive that in the first place is questionable). That was a shocker enough on its own, but now this so soon after? Yeah, he's more than a little confused and frustrated by the sudden change.

Yet, this place doesn't seem too bad.

No, it's nice, a little more down to earth like home was before he slept away 70 years. Not exactly, but still nothing like that technology drowned era he woke up in. It's beautiful really. He wants to draw it, maybe even paint it, because the color here is refreshing, the air soothing. The music weird, but he'll ignore that. Maybe he woke up in one of those other worlds that Thor's file had mentioned.

He'll make due til he understands where he is and what this is. Really, the animals here are bizarre. He's pretty sure someone referred to them as Pokemon, which sounds foreign enough to just accept and move on. He's not one to argue linguistics.

The device he messed around with a moment ago beeped at him, drawing him from his musings of this world and how to paint his surroundings. He opened the gadget, it then spoke, much like that JARVIS Stark had, but more mechanical. The screen showed a strange bird, and when Steve looked over, he saw it perched in a tree, the device naming and listing some fact about it. Steve looked back down at the device, reading what the screen listed. It was by far already far more useful than anything Stark has given him.

That was already a step in the right direction in Steve's book.
