APPLICATIONS!
Currently: Closed!
Route 29 has closed as of May 30th. For the continuation of the game, please visit [community profile] victory_road!

Applications will be normally checked during the weekend following the first and third Sunday of each month unless otherwise stated, and we will allow one application per person during one application cycle. Remember, the most characters one player can have at a time is currently set at five.

Applications received after 11:59 PM EST on Saturday of the first and third weekend of each month will be checked the following app weekend unless otherwise stated.

We now ask that potential applicants post their application in comments rather than linking. If their application contains explicit references to 'hard' spoilers (character death, unforeseen plot twists, big reveals, he was evil all along etc), players should put the application in their own journal or their character's journal and link it, making sure to mention the presence of spoilers within. For further clarification on our spoilers policy and whether or not your application needs to be linked, please check this page. Thank you for your cooperation!

The comment character limit on dreamwidth is 16,000 characters so apps no longer need to be split into multiple comments; however this is at players' discretion.

Please use the form below and post your application in comments rather than linking if you can. If you have any questions, feel free to ask either of the mods. You can reach us through emails, IMs, or PMs.

A reminder for those waiting to hear back, please don't be worried if we skip yours while going through them. It only means we needed a little more time to research!

Series: FFXIII

Personality:

Fang is one of the most stubborn character within her world, as well as described as fearless. The two attributes of her character go hand in hand when she journeys through the game, stubborn enough to keep on her path, and fearless enough to face whatever trials come before her. Even if the path she's walking turns her against her friends and makes her - more than less - the bad guy (if not briefly) and sets her apart from her friends, even against them. Fang is headstrong, as well as physically strong, and uses both aspects to achieve her goals. Fang is incredibly adaptable, and I say this for the fact that she is 500+ years before present time of the game, having been asleep in a crystal stasis for those centuries. Coming out of her stasis she is confused, disoriented, and yet that does not stop her from successfully forming a plan, navigating her surroundings, and making allies with strong forces within the world such as her alliance with the Cavalry––a faction that is often misunderstood to be aligned with PSICOM. This is important to note because in the FFXIII universe Fang is a l'Cie, which basically means an enemy of Cocoon (the world in which people live - peacefully - free from the l'Cie). Thus, factions like PSICOM are considered enemies of the l'Cie and it was a misunderstanding that although the Cavalry is in some form affiliated with PSICOM they work independently from PSICOM with different tactics and ideals, so instead of threatening Fang they welcome her on board so not to be captured by PSICOM, who would no doubt execution her on sight.

I know this must all be confusing, let me break it down:

Cocoon is a floating world above the planet Gran Pulse, Cocoon was made and is run by entities (or gods) called the fal'Cie, they are in control of agriculture, of food supply, rain, sun, warmth, weather, whatever your little heart can think of, there is a fal'Cie for it. On this floating world of Cocoon lives a world of people sheltered from the planet beneath them, Gran Pulse. They have been told that Gran Pulse is home to terrible people who are cursed by fal'Cies and can endanger them if they come into close proximity of them, or of any fal'Cie. So the military, or Sanctum army, is divided into different factions: The Calvary, PSICOM, Guardian Forces, etc. And the general idea is to keep Cocoon safe from the terrible world of Gran Pulse and prepare against any future terrorist attack from Gran Pulse should it come––as it once did come 500 years ago (via Fang/Vanille).

Hopefully the above kind of helped with the general idea of this world and its key components.

Fang is described as someone that is wholly unconcerned by life's trivialities, and though that may be true, she does concern herself greatly for the safety of Vanille, a girl from her time and village. She has deep rooted feelings for her friend and would fight through hell and back to save her, and quite willingly martyr herself for Vanille, and ultimately sacrifice a whole lot of people if it meant Vanille would be safe.

Fang is a devoted and very caring individual, she ultimately does want what's best for everyone, especially those adopted into her "family" concept, but there still remains a hierarchy to her favors.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
Fang is an excellent fighter, her weapon of choice is a double bladed lance and she is one of the strongest characters in the game able to take hit points and deal an impressive amount of damage to enemies. She's determined, follows through, and is a well rounded and dependable individual.

Her weaknesses can be her stubbornness, and somewhat disproportional ideals––such as sacrifice millions to save one person.

First Person Sample:
☄ 002 ☾a u d i o☽ Feeding The Dragon

[ Naturally, you hear music, a soft background chime and jingle, as if to promise some good times are ahead. Perhaps something one might hear hustling through a buzzing shopping center. Something light, entertaining, and eager for you to drop a few well earned notes on things you want, have to have, need!

Then there's a groan––much louder and utterly uncomplimentary to the distant music being heard.
]

I been warned that they can't say much–– hm, but if he could just tell me what he wants to eat that would be great. I tried giving him some of this generic food snacks for them, but he wants nothing to do with it. This Pokémon food..

[ There's another voice heard, though what's being said isn't quite clear. Fang huffs. ]

Well slow down here, he's not hurting anyone, how can I know what to feed him if I don't try it out first, oh––I'll pay for it, Jane, Jill, June, whatever it is your name is.. Molly? Molly.. why… never mind.

Here.. what? I can't have him out? Well he's not hurting anybody, look at him, he's just laying there.

[ She makes a clicking noise with her tongue hitting the roof of her mouth. ]

C'mon boy, we're going to try something else.. ah! I know.. [ There's a moment, time enough to exchange some credit for some meat. ] Try some of this jerky Druddigon.

Success!

Third Person Sample:

Fang understood that a measly P3000 wasn't going to last her long and she had to secure some sort of job in order to afford a livable life here. It wasn't as if she could live off the berries in the forest (quite literally she could not, the berries tended not to sit well wit humans). Weighing her options on the availability chart of positions she decided to check out either the Lighthouse position, Night Guard in particular, and the PokéCenter, what better opportunity to learn your new world than to get a job dealing with oodles and oodles of available information. It was a no brainer but the greedy and adventurous part of her wanted to take the more risky job for better pay.

Even being a trainer, she had to account for Druddigon's carnivorous appetite and meat was a lot more than vegetation or Pokémon food, which he genuinely showed little to no interest in. It's not like waking up 500 years later to the same world, some familiarity of that world still existed, despite the dramatic amount of time missed, Fang could at least tell left to right, up to down, edible and non-edible, to having some sense and direction. Here it was a whole new world and she had to relearn an environment she desperately wanted to be familiar––like recognizing similar plants and then realizing they weren't the same from her world to this. The fact was this world revolved around Pokémon and it was entirely new concept. Instead of the weight of Cocoon on her shoulders it was the weight of the great unknown.

Were Vanille here, she'd be cheered up and find some worth, instead of facing this alone. Fang looked to the ball in her hand, the Pokémon ball, and she rolled it between her palms, blinking down at it. But she wasn't entirely alone and it was nice to have the responsibility of looking after Druddigon. She could be strong for the dragon-type creature, and she could not ignore the pleasant familiarity of being strong for Bahamut. But once again, they weren't the same.
