APPLICATIONS!
Currently: Closed!
Route 29 has closed as of May 30th. For the continuation of the game, please visit [community profile] victory_road!

Applications will be normally checked during the weekend following the first and third Sunday of each month unless otherwise stated, and we will allow one application per person during one application cycle. Remember, the most characters one player can have at a time is currently set at five.

Applications received after 11:59 PM EST on Saturday of the first and third weekend of each month will be checked the following app weekend unless otherwise stated.

We now ask that potential applicants post their application in comments rather than linking. If their application contains explicit references to 'hard' spoilers (character death, unforeseen plot twists, big reveals, he was evil all along etc), players should put the application in their own journal or their character's journal and link it, making sure to mention the presence of spoilers within. For further clarification on our spoilers policy and whether or not your application needs to be linked, please check this page. Thank you for your cooperation!

The comment character limit on dreamwidth is 16,000 characters so apps no longer need to be split into multiple comments; however this is at players' discretion.

Please use the form below and post your application in comments rather than linking if you can. If you have any questions, feel free to ask either of the mods. You can reach us through emails, IMs, or PMs.

A reminder for those waiting to hear back, please don't be worried if we skip yours while going through them. It only means we needed a little more time to research!

Thor (Earth-199999) at Marvel wiki)

Personality: Thor at first glance is loud, brash, stubborn, and a bit of an arrogant asshole. This is all very true. That isn't to say that his particular brand of loud arrogance is all there is to him, because it certainly is not. Thor is also very capable of being noble, self-sacrificing, very self-aware, chivalrous, and generally heroic. He's a prince, a noble, and now he's at least beginning to act like the best representation of one he's capable of being within his nature, instead of a spoiled, foolhardy, arrogant brat like he was before. Despite being like a thousand years old.

Thor is from a society that places a lot of value on strength and valor in battle as opposed to intelligence and calm thinking, and he embodies that very well. Despite being capable of great intelligence and observation, he tends to leave strategizing to those who are better at it--or the battlefield. And despite the fact that he should know better, he's capable of some absolutely stunning missteps in planning and action. He's at his best when someone can point him at a problem that needs some liberal use of hammer to correct, but he can and will take the initiative in certain situations. Mostly those involving fighting giant beasts 'cause he's really good at that. It comes easily to him, and things he doesn't have to work at are great. But he does adapt quickly to new situations--as shown when he's cast down to Earth, despite an inglorious start and not knowing what practically anything is, he very quickly rolls with the punches and goes back to figuring out the best way for him to get home. He doesn't spend much time bemoaning his situation, and actually begins to teach things he knows to Jane about the Bifrost and the organization of the World Tree, as well as the beings living on the different worlds.

Due to the lessons he learned during his banishment on Earth, he's in the process of becoming much more level-headed and well-rounded, and he's aware of both his flaws and those of Asgard in general. Which are most of his anyway. Pride, vainglory, rashness, battle lust--he knows now that these are all things that don't necessarily make for a great and wise king, and now he's determined to work on making himself better. He shows an awareness or at least a concern for matters involving Earth, and has taken it upon himself to help protect it because he feels he caused problems there. He's eager to help, enthusiastic about learning, but mostly on his terms.

He also can come across as a bit of an enthusiastic idiot, despite his very formal manner of speaking. Until such time as he has to get serious, he acts kinda like a strange cross between a frat boy and a puppy, really--friendly, happy to help with pretty much anything, playful, and most of all ready for action. He talks with his hands even when it might make him seem a bit stupid--illustrating antlers on a creature he tells Coulson about by giving himself hand-antlers, etc. He's also not shy about contact, doling out back slaps and affectionate touches just as easily as he does punches.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
+ Brave
Thor throws himself headlong into battles whether he's outmatched or not. He's not completely foolhardy, but he is confident in his strength and his battle experience.
+ Loyal
Thor is loyal to a fault, once he decides someone is his friend he will do anything in his power for them. His dedication goes even so far as his brother Loki, even in the middle of the battle in New York Thor tried offering an olive branch to him.
+ Determined, Focused
He's also ridiculously focused and determined, if he decides the best course of action he will damn well follow through with it. Even if that's really damn stupid.
+ Honest
Thor can't lie for shit. He also doesn't really see any reason to, he prefers honesty and leaves the necessary lying to those better suited to it. He's not necessarily against it in principle, but he'd rather be honest.
+ Physical abilities
Thor is stupidly strong, even limited to human levels he's capable of deadlifting a grown (and rather tall at that) man and hauling him around over one shoulder. He also normally has enhanced endurance and can take a lot of damage. Normally since his muscles are denser than a human's of equivalent size and structure he weighs about 600-700 pounds. That won't be the case since he's turned completely human in game, but he's still ridiculously built and is still capable of some pretty awesome feats of strength--just human ones.
+ Fighting skill
Both hand-to-hand and using all kinds of weapons, Thor is a master in battle. He specializes in the hammer, of course, but he's also trained with swords and other weaponry. This translates to fantastic strategic skills, he is also trained as a prince to command troops.
+ Mjolnir
His hammer grants him the powers that Thor is known for--control of the weather. He can summon lightning, tornados, rain, and it's suggested by canon that he has some limited control over the weather even without it. Mjolnir comes to him when summoned and also allows him to...kinda fly. He throws it and hangs on for dear life. :I Anyway, since superhuman abilities are nerfed and weapons are Not Allowed, this won't be an issue.

- Intellectual pursuits
To be fair to him, he's gotten better about this. But Thor isn't exactly the brightest lightning bolt, up until recently he's sort of depended on Loki to be the smart one while he brought the muscle. This is a flaw he's recognized in himself, and he wants to work to correct it. He just has no idea where to start. He does have common sense and a more than adequate education, but he stopped paying attention as he got older and like hell he went to read books on his own there are beasts to hunt.
- Horrible temper
Thor can definitely bring the wrath of God. Again, his banishment has made him aware of this and he actively works to keep his temper under control, but if you set him off you better run the other way right fast.
- Reckless, rash.
Ahahaha. Being used to nigh-invulnerability and the strength of a god, this will especially work against him. He's used to being hit a lot harder and shrugging it off, injury here will work against him massively, especially since he doesn't have a healing factor anymore. He's seriously not going to know what do, and charging into everything head first like he normally does carries the risk of being seriously hurt. Gonna have to learn that one the hard way. He tends to make snap decisions and just go with them, even when they're really bad ideas. He can also be talked into really bad ideas by people he trusts.
- Little knowledge of Earth...in general.
lol tasers. Thor has gotten something of a crash course in modern day Earth workings but he still has a lot to learn. Pop culture will go straight over his head, technology will be hard for him to adapt to, and what do you mean he has to work for money to get things he's a prince of Asgard. B[ Thor basically hasn't cared about Earth for centuries, since there's really no adventure to be had there--the last time Asgard intervened there he was a kid. He's visited a few times, but that was all back in the Viking days.
- All the brother issues.
...I kinda just wanted to mention it okay. :C Thor loves his brother and doesn't understand why Loki wants to stab him so much.

Samples
First Person Sample:
[Obviously whoever's making the video isn't the most practiced at it--the view is upside down, half obscured by a giant finger, and has only the upper half of the face of a confused blue-eyed man with long blond hair and a beard wearing silver armor and a red cape.

But he's observant and catches on quickly, and once he sees the corresponding video on the screen, he shifts the Gear in his hands so he's fully visible as he glances down and to the side, evidently talking to his Pokemon partner.]

Now I see why you gave me this device. I appreciate it, little friend.

[Now he refocuses on the screen with a genial smile, but serious eyes.]

I take it that this device is meant for communication. In that case, I would ask a boon from those watching--three questions. First, what is this place? Second, are any of you aware of the Nine Realms, the World Tree, or paths between worlds?

Third, I was escorting a prisoner before I found myself here. I would ask if any have seen him. He is tall as I, thin, with long black hair and green eyes. He would be wearing a mask of silver, but is not bound.

A warning, if your paths should cross: he is dangerous, and not to be trifled with.

You have my thanks.

Third Person Sample:
While Thor couldn't understand why arrival in this world divided people into the categories it did, he was determined to be the best at what Johto assigned him to be.

Being a Breeder involved far too much reading at the outset for his tastes. But he had reminded himself of his commitment to pursue other interests, ones that would make him a well-rounded King, and kept at it with dogged determination. (And there was absolutely nothing to say he couldn't test the results in trainer matches anyway.)

His first egg had come from another, which was fitting. It felt wrong to encourage his Pichu to breed, as it was young yet, and there were kind strangers willing to offer an egg to newcomers free of charge. He had asked for, and recieved, an egg of a horse-like creature called Blitzle.

He had been surprised to recieve an egg, really. He had expected a colt, being present at enough births in the stables to know exactly what happened when a horse was born. This place was full of surprises.

Little Friend (Thor had tried giving it an actual name, but the Pichu wouldn't respond to anything else) watched the egg shift and move with his nose pressed up close to its black and gray shell, waiting for it to crack. Was it supposed to take this long? Thor had no idea. And he wasn't the best at being patient.
