Applications will be normally checked during the weekend following the first and third Sunday of each month unless otherwise stated, and we will allow one application per person during one application cycle. Remember, the most characters one player can have at a time is currently set at five.

Applications received after 11:59 PM EST on Saturday of the first and third weekend of each month will be checked the following app weekend unless otherwise stated.

We now ask that potential applicants post their application in comments rather than linking. If their application contains explicit references to 'hard' spoilers (character death, unforeseen plot twists, big reveals, he was evil all along etc), players should put the application in their own journal or their character's journal and link it, making sure to mention the presence of spoilers within. For further clarification on our spoilers policy and whether or not your application needs to be linked, please check this page. Thank you for your cooperation!

The comment character limit on dreamwidth is 16,000 characters so apps no longer need to be split into multiple comments; however this is at players' discretion.

(For right now, only those three positions are available, whether your character chooses to follow their assigned path or not.)
Starter: What starter pokémon do you want your character to have? Please use the list linked above to choose from. Certain pokémon have an orange star next to their names; if you choose one of these starters (Deino, Zorua, Litwick, Pikachu, Scyther, Dratini, Bagon, Gible, Axew, Ralts, Riolu, Beldum, Larvitar, Eevee, or Beldum) you must provide reasoning. You do not need to explain your reasoning for pokémon other than those listed above.
Password: This is where you'll put the passwords from the Rules and the F.A.Q. There are two words, to assure you've read both.

Samples
First Person Sample: The sample must take place in Route_29's setting. Eight sentences is the minimum. This is a PokéConnect post--one that will be on the character's journal, broadcast to the network. Although it is short, it needs to show how your character would communicate with others, as well as be descriptive enough to express the character's voice without sounding too generic.

Third Person Sample: The sample must take place in Route_29's setting. The minimum is 300 words. Please note that what we are looking for is an inner working into the character’s thoughts and actions, and how the character responds to the setting, not something that could be taken as an excerpt fanfic. You may use other characters to bounce your characters actions off of, but everything should still be mostly from their point of view.

This world... It's really beautiful.

[Ryoji sighs, watching the sun set over the trees. There isn't a clear view of his face - the edge of his scarf's laying halfway across the Gear's camera, so it's mostly yellow fuzz - but he's smiling. It's tangible in his voice as well, although there's also a certain note of sadness.]

I'm happy to be able to explore it with Mina-kun, but I can't help but feel a little homesick. Iwatodai wasn't as green and lush as here, and neither was Kyoto, but it was... home.

[Home, though.]

Ah, I never introduced Mina-kun and I, did I? How careless of me. [He laughs and picks up the Gear, giving the camera a charming smile.] I'm Mochizuki Ryoji, but you can just call me Ryoji. This is Mina-kun.

[The camera turns on a resting Absol; it isn't looking at the Gear, but it's evidently watching Ryoji's every move.]

He's a little tough, but I'm sure he'll warm up soon enough. He hasn't bit me since this morning when I called him cute! I think that's definitely an improvement.

[...It stays on the Absol as Ryoji's voice quiets down. The feed runs silent for another minute - it hasn't frozen, he's just preoccupied by the view - before he laughs and slides his fingers over the camera, obscuring the feed.]

I hope we'll all get along.

Third Person Sample:
"Absol, the Disaster Pokémon. It has the ability to foretell natural disasters. Its life span is over a hundred years."

Ryoji shuts his Pokédex and watches his Absol peek around the edge of the path, sniffing the ground and looking up every so often. The Disaster Pokémon, huh? How fitting that he'd get it as a starter, then, since he was supposed to bring about the Fall. The memory of his world - and the fear that he might bring Nyx into this one as well - pulls at the edge of his mind and he allows it to take form. It was so strange -- night had definitely passed, and yet he was still Ryoji. He wasn't some grotesque monster or Shadow... Could it be, then, that Nyx couldn't come here?

He shakes his head and tucks his chin into his scarf, frowning. That wasn't possible. Wherever - whenever - he appeared, Nyx was sure to come... He was the harbinger of the end, the herald of the Fall. There was no way that he could avoid that fate.

Even if he had closed his eyes for just a moment, awaiting Minato's answer, and opened them to find the white ceiling of a room that was certainly not his own and hearing the voice of a woman instead of a teenager deciding his fate. Even if he now had a strange creature - a Pokémon, an Absol - accompanying him and a beautiful world in front of him to see. Even if he felt tired and worn, in a way he hadn't felt for an entire month despite the truth discovered at Moonlight Bridge gnawing at his insides. There was no plausible way he could avoid calling Nyx and destroying the world,

It was what he was born -- no, created to do.

A gruff bark interrupts his thoughts and he smiles at Mina-kun, almost instinctively. He's wary of petting him - the canine-like Pokémon had bitten him when he had finally flirted his way out of the house in New Bark Town, and he had called it cute - but offers his hand anyway, chuckling when the Absol sniffs it and turns ahead.

"All right, all right. We'll keep on going, Mina-kun. After all, we're sure to meet more people as we journey. It'll be nice, having a lot of friends."
