SSSSPOOOOILERS ARE HERE

However, it has not accounted for the recent chapters as of yet, so I'll fill in those parts: Spoilers for the recent chapters are here!

After eliminating all of the clowns, the scene switches to the inside of the moon's nose (yes really) where the ragtag team of Sid, Clay, Akane, the Noah of Wrath and Gopher (not that they wanted the latter two) as they find the center where the Kishin is hiding. Whoops, Asura pops out and it begins a madness frenzy all across the moon, which Maka deflects with her and Soul's ~music~. Noah tries to attack Asura, ultimately to no avail as Crona comes out through a wall and eats the both of them.

Yes. They eat Asura and Noah (though they do vomit up Noah later.)

This is about where the shit hits the fan even more and the trio of Maka, Black*Star and Kid make the decision that they should stay on the moon while everyone else gets teleported back down to Earth by Free. Kid is unfortunately caught in Free's poor aim/lack of direction and is taken away as well, but regardless of this Maka and Black*Star run up to meet Crona. (Kid's on his way back to the moon on his flying skateboard.)

Maka is, understandably, irritated that Crona did a thing like eating the Kishin and starts going at them with gusto, with Black*Star assisting. Unfortunately for them, Crona displays the ability to disrupt the wavelength between weapons and meisters and takes away Soul and Tsubaki from the two; Black*Star is able to go on with hand to hand, but Maka is left without options until Spirit makes a reappearance (he had actually been climbing up the cliff face of the moon the whole time) and offers to be her weapon temporarily since apparently children and their parents naturally resonate.

As this is going on, Lord Death and Excalibur are discussing Kid's inevitable development into a full-fledged death god, providing exposition and foreshadowing simultaneously. LD speaks of "not being afraid of death since he already gave away all his fear."

The context for this line becomes startingly clear as Maka's resonance with her father ultimately can't do much in the fight with Crona (but she and Black*Star are able to reclaim their Weapons so it's okay) and Asura decides to make his reappearance. Crona is swallowed back up in a cocoon of Asura's familiar scarves . Luckily Kid has finally arrived and the "pose as a team because shit just got real" actual fight against the Kishin can begin.

This doesn't go so well at first, but Maka remains courageous and refusing to give up while Black*Star and Kid become more and more frightened and disheartened (possibly due to the effects of Asura's insanity wavelength). Asura reveals, much to Kid's hysterical denial, that he is also a child of Lord Death, who wanted to give away all of his fear and put it into one entity, making him Kid's older biological brother. He goes on to say that if Kid connects all of his Sanzu lines, he will become a demon god just like him, shaking him to his core and filling him with doubt.

Maka is having none of this, however, and continues to beat against Asura, telling Kid that it doesn't matter if they're both gods or if they're even related, Kid is nothing like the Kishin and the Kishin is not a death god even if he deals with death. He's still Kid and he's their friend, Black*Star concurs with this saying that even he trusts him. Confidence regained, Kid thanks Maka for her bravery and finally moves to connect his third Sanzu line to "see what happens when [he] becomes a full-fledged death god!"

And that's where canon is at this point.

Okay no more spoilers
