We now ask that potential applicants post their application in comments rather than linking. If their application contains explicit references to 'hard' spoilers (character death, unforeseen plot twists, big reveals, he was evil all along etc), players should put the application in their own journal or their character's journal and link it, making sure to mention the presence of spoilers within. Name: Xiaoqiao

Personality: Xiaoqiao is the kind of wife/sister/daughter/friend that can sometimes induce heart attacks by being herself. She’s brash, impulsive, and rather prone to diving into dangerous situations with too much enthusiasm. Though always well meaning she’s someone that doesn’t really worry about what’s appropriate or not for her position – or her size. She has an upbeat and aggressive personality, unlike her older sister that is afraid of battle Xiaoqiao gives the impression of enjoying the fighting even as she yearns for peaceful times with her loved ones. Basically, she'll make the most of it. If the only time she can get with her husband is on the battlefield then she's going to have some fun and she's going to cheer him on quite embarrassingly (Woohoo! That's my man!).

She's someone that seems a little bit dumb but rather than lacking in brains it's really patience that she lacks. She could wait, but she doesn't want to. She could think about her words more carefully before saying them but she still means the same thing in the end. She's capable of being emotionally manipulative but can't be bothered to more often than not. The big picture isn't something she worries about but she doesn't really sweat the details either, she can be frivolous and fickle but she's loyal where it matters. The only thing she really slows down for is telling others to rest, telling others to cheer up, telling her husband that she is still there and will stay by his side no matter what.

While she is quite childish in her actions and the way she speaks Xiaoqiao isn’t completely dense or clueless. She can't be. Others note her innocence but she is still someone who has lived her life surrounded by violence and turmoil. But through it all she doesn't become jaded or bitter, and her innocence becomes a source of strength for those around her. When Sun Ce dies she is the one that comforts her husband and reminds him of what he's fighting for, when her sister becomes tired of the fighting and death Xiaoqiao is the one that reminds her sister that she's strong and needed; she's not someone that loses hope easily.

It’s noted by other characters that she has a surprisingly strong (if somewhat simple-minded) character. She’s unexpectedly brave and has pure intentions that tends to carry her through even in difficult and often tragic times. It’s probably her simple-mindedness that allows her to be emotionally strong. She isn't someone that needs complicated reasons to fight. While others will fight for duty or out of patriotism, she isn't even fighting to particularly protect anyone/anything. Xiaoqiao fights to be with the people important to her (her sister, her husband, her friends) and in a more roundabout way, for their happiness. Hopefully. The war is long and she's aware that it's not as simple as winning or losing. While some might find her reasons childish or mindless it's that straightforward devotion that gives her the strength to keep fighting sometimes even after the ones closest to her have passed on. While she appears to be quite dependent on her sister and her husband she is someone very capable of standing on her own two feet. And she will because everyone she loves would want her to remain strong even if they can no longer be together.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
+ combat experience Plenty of battle experience, surprisingly. She's skilled with her steel fan but likely has experience with a number of more conventional weapons as well. She's also unexpectedly strong for a woman her size.
+ brave She appears to have no problem facing life or death situations. Even when an unexpected enemy shows up she's not likely to be shaken.
+ optimistic Nothing really keeps her down long and she's almost always the one that's trying to cheer up her loved ones.
+ friendly She has a cheerful and outgoing personality, she's the kind of person that makes friends easily.

- reckless As stated she's extremely prone to charging into dangerous situations without thinking it through.
- impatient In one of the spin off games she launches an attack too early in spite of instructions and messes up the battle plan because she couldn't wait any longer.
- simple-minded She's not stupid but she can come off that way. And she's certainly not a strategist like her husband is. To her the simplest way is the best way...and sometimes that can get her into trouble. She also seems to be somewhat easily distracted.

First Person Sample: [ someone is knocking their pokegear against a tree or house or wall... the closest hard surface basically. ] Is this working? How do I know if it's working?

[ afew more knocks, not terribly gentle knocks. ] Oookay~ this is working now, right? Right.

[ it better be because Xiaoqiao has questions and she wants answers now. ] So who do I have to beat up to get out of here? Let's just get it over with.

[ a pause, as if she's waiting for some kind of ambush to just pop out. ] Um look, I was in the middle of something really important and I'd really like to get back to it. Besides, I'm sure my husband is worried I ran off ahead in battle or something. It's not like I do it that often...

So...if anyone could help me out here I'd be really thankful!

Third Person Sample: It’s been...one week since she arrived? Otherwise known as the incident when she tried to descale Xiao’yu and cook her. How was she supposed to know the funny looking fish in the funny looking ball was supposed to be her animal companion? But after one week, finally after one whole, it seems like the traumatised Feebas is starting to warm up to Xiaoqiao. She’s thankful for it but even after two weeks she’s really not sure what she’s supposed to be doing with fish.

It’s not like with cats or horses or pandas or tigers, to begin with those animals have a much larger range of motion, and she had grown up with them so Xiaoqiao knew how to handle them mostly. The only way she’s ever known to handle fish is for cooking or sticking in an ornamental pond. “Xiao’yu…do you want another poffin?”

At least bribing by food is universal, she’s thankful for that.

Xiao’yu seems to look at Xiaoqiao, opening and closing her mouth a few times and making a couple of gobgob sounds. Xiaoqiao has no idea what she’s trying to say but she takes it as a yes. “You like them, right? I didn’t burn this one!” she says as she drops it into the Feebas’ mouth. Half the time she feels like she’s talking to herself but…she’s making progress. It’s what Xiaoqiao tells herself to keep from pulling her hair out.

Maddeningly slow, snail’s pace progress that got her heaven knows where when all she really wants is to run as fast as she can in the general direction of home. She has not seen a sign post giving her the directions for that yet.

“Aaaah!” Her scream startles Xiao’yu who starts to thrash uselessly in the snow. Xiaoqiao looks down at her Pokémon companion, she still doesn’t understand these creatures... but she suspects the little weird fish is giving her a look of concern.

"...I'm okay. I'll be okay, thank you." Scales aren't very good for petting but she does it anyways, funny looking as she is Xiao'yu is a good fish.
